Cassie Sandsmark should get to be a sad girl again. She should get violent. Angry. Desperate. She should feel love and deep hate. She should decide never to forgive someone. Push some people out of her life.
She needs to feel a burning love, not necessarily romantic, which would make her do some crazy shit. She should be mad and furious and let her feelings guide her. She should reconnect with her emotions, and feel some real happiness with the people she loves. She should scream and shout and feel pain and punch some shit just for the sake of it. She should be emotional, driven by her feelings, and maybe even kill someone. And god does she need to kiss some girls.

A morning with a adhder speedster
It´s at 06:00 A.M., i could stay a little more, but my chest and legs feels overwhelmed. I don´t want to get out of bed, but i have work to do... OH MAN! My hands are cold and warm at the same time... It´s comphy... Let´s just get out of bed please legs, do your thing or whatever. Thanks legs for let me go out from my bedroom.
Everything is so quite in the hallway... please please please... don´t make any noise... don´t wake up the others... I hate the stairs, my legs are still sleepy and i don´t want to wake them up. I said it right? Wake them up, wake up them... wake... wake... oh, i stopped...
-Hm... wake sounds like waka and wakame or wakeme... That seaweed from Animal Crossing...Wait, did i said that loud? Don´t wake them... they are tired from work, college and the hero thing... I want to cry, if i wake them I- Who is in the living room?
Carefully, he approached to the couch and he couldn´t help but smile a little when he saw his formers pattners sleeping. Jaime, Cassie and Gar should have pass out on the couch when they come back from a mission. He thought that maybe they could be cold, it was normal be cold at this hours so he covered them with one of the blankets from the basket near the stairs. Jaime is going to complain a lot for the pain in his spine, neck and back... he pass out again with the armor on. Cassie snoring in her soft way and Gar making poses like a vogue model while he sleep, normal. He smile a last time while his mind was flooded with memories, you can tell that he was falling for them but to him that was normal. Bart can´t tell a lot about his emotions thanks to the alexithymia thing, but he knows when he feel comphy. They feel the same with me? Do i make them feel that too? He look a moment to Jaime and though that he would like to understand his own feelings, it´s confussing. Bullshit, i don´t care about what type of relationship, that happen to them too? Also I can ask them, but not now, later. Sleep well, sweathearts.
It was normal to him ask that type of questions, he wish not, but somedays were more... inexplicable. He started to dissociate in his own thoughts that he didn't even realize he had entered in the kitchen and make some breakfast. In the other side of the kitchen Tim was just watching and debating if he should make Bart comeback or not. Actually, is funny seeing him like that, but, he need to comeback, sorry kid. But sometimes, being a great detective and strategist doesn´t mean always having good ideas, like greeting a person from behind while they are dissociating.
-Hey Bart- Just as Tim´s hand landed on Bart´s shoulder, Bart felt how his heart was going to burst out of his chest as he grabbed his shirt with one hand and grabbed the kitchen counter with the other. His heart and his breath were going so fast, but most important thing: he didn´t screamed so his pals can still sleeping. In this state, he turned his head to see who was behind and he found his friend looking into his eyes as well. They were both like two deer that met a car on the road. They both stifled a laugh.
-Sorry, sorry, I totally forget that- Tim said whispering to iniciate a tone, Bart thanked, he didn´t want to wake them up.
-Don´t mind, don´t mind- Said Bart while moving one of his hands whispering as well . -I should have remember that you are always in the kitchen at this time when you don´t have a mission.- Tim smiled at him and Bart returned the smile. They both share the coffe, Tim always make a lot of coffe, they could open a coffeshop, Bart thought. People uses to think that the caffeine and Bart shouldn´t be friends, but caffeine helps him to relax, something that need it desesperately.
-So, you haven´t slept, have you?
As Tim hear his friend´s question, he sighed while leaving the cup on the table.
-I haven´t, there is this case that it's been keeping me up at night.
-You should to worry less, boy wonder. I´m sure you´ll figurate out, as you always do. And if you can´t because you need some time to relax and think, you can ask for help.
Tim looked and listened. He is good at analyzing and sometimes forget that Bart has that skills too. That´s not new for him, when you have a lack of sleep, the memory is also affected. He didn't wanted to recognize it.
-You are doing it again.
-What i am doing again?- Bart asked confussed, maybe he lose something? Maybe he should start to worry?
-That thing, not looking in the eyes when you said your opinion or trying to help. I know that you can´t control it, but breath, i don´t bite. And if could, i couldn't have the strength to do it.
Bart smirk a little. His friend was right. Maybe the group had problems in the past, but know is different. He comeback to this reality when he heard his friend´s voice.
-Maybe i need to enfocate it from other perspective. My work memory... isn´t working as it has to...- Tim said while rubbing the back of his neck. Bart sigh internally with Tim word´s, he knows how difficult is his friend to convince him about taking some time, so he was glad about what he said, they were worried.
They continued drinking their coffee without saying a word. Tim didn´t have nothing to say and Bart was lost in his thoughs, he didn´t even notice that he was being observed by Tim. Bart mind was fast when he worried about something and he never said nothing, if hefelt like he had nothing to say, he wouldn't say anything. However, his body language was obvious if you payed attention. Maybe Tim was not in his best conditions but a detective is always a detective. He has the itchy ticky fingers. His cheek is resting on the palm of his left hand. With the fingers of that hand he is touching his lobe and the strands of hair bhind it. His gace is lost in the coffe, but his pupil has small movements. His eyes are not full open and in fast moves he looks at the door. His breathing becomes deep and slow... He is worried, but why... Around 3:30 am I heard a sound coming from the living room, Wonder Girl, Beast Boy and Blue Beetle... Maybe... Tim decide to broke the silence.
-Talk to them.
-ExCuSe mE?- Tim let out a malevolic smile, the team found funny broke Bart in that way, it was... cute
-I said, talk to them- Bart didn´t move, he hasn´t talk about this with anyone because for him was shameful. He started to worry about, you can say it thanks for his ticks: hands, legs, jaw tension, silent hiperventiltion, searching with his eyes a way to run away...
-That happens to me too, i mean that things happen. I understand the relation between neurodivergency and alexithymia, but just do it in your way and in your time, just do it so yoy can get use to it. Talk in the way you feel.
-What if he- he stop.- What if they get mad? Please, don´t let him notice
Tim gives a sip of coffe while thinking. He knows Bart, he knows how he worried, he knows how he percieve things, he knows that misunderstood drive him mad, but he need him to stop overthinking.
-Then you have a bad taste in people. He still thinking about his emotions in that way... Like if they are something to apologise for...
Bart died while the coffee was running out of his nose.
Espero que te guste @itsme-inbooks
And... also i dedicated to you @adhdslugcrimes , my adhder partner in crime

Okay, I can't do fancasting, but I can pinpoint what I personally would be looking for in actors for a YJ-and-adjacent adaptation.
Whoever would play Tim would need to be able to convey a lot of seeming contradictions. Friendly and affable but intensely private. The Only Sane One but in fact just as unhinged as the rest of his friends. Resident logician and strategist but brimming with (mostly) controlled emotionality. Comes across as mature and sensible but also has lots of annoying little brother energy. He would need to demonstrate a wry, self-deprecating humor while also having the capacity to be driven and serious and sit on rooftops to brood when necessary. Should have the physicality of someone who has carefully trained for what he does, not someone who has effortless natural talent.
Kon should be the charismatic teenage hero type, like something escaped from a Disney Channel show. Lots of Attitude™, lots of style, lots of action. Boisterous and cocky but can be caring and gentle. This actor needs to have fantastic comedic skills because Kon needs to be funny. Deliberately, consciously, genuinely hilarious and witty. Not at all dark and brooding. But he should also be able to pull off a very specific type of angst--depressed but in denial about it. Kon's happy-go-lucky persona is both an expression of his natural personality and a front he clings to avoid being vulnerable, so his actor should be able to convey these layers of complexity. Hypothetically, his actor would also be playing Match and would have to pull off a cold, efficient, vindicative (but ultimately tragic) persona too.
Bart needs to be played by someone who can avoid making him a caricature. The fun and humor and lightheartedness need to be there, of course, but they're combined with a very teenage belligerent and stubborn side. This needs to be someone who can convey a unique style of thinking and get across that Bart is in fact quite intelligent and perceptive. There should also be an ability to effectively emote without words. It's a highly energetic role with a distinct physicality. Ideally, Bart's actor would also be playing Thad, so he would need to be able to pull off the contrasting roles, to give each of them their own distinctive mannerisms and styles of speech and physicalities, and to absolutely nail the emotionally intense climax of Mercury Falling.
Greta's actress should be able to be both genuinely sweet and genuinely terrifying. One is not a mask for the other; she is both at the same time. She should be able to deliver some of the most disturbing and hilarious lines ever with utter sincerity (things like "Death is coming, and...he's on skis"). She has a vindictive streak and can be harsh but not so much that the audience won't feel for her. There's an innate vulnerability and waiflike quality to this child despite her powers. This is a very dramatic role that would require a broad range as Greta gradually goes to the Doug Side dark side before being restored back to life.
Cissie needs to have the air of someone overtrained since childhood in athletics with a side of pageant-like skills--like a child on one of those dreadful reality shows about exploitative parents. She is poised and controlled and elegant and knows how to make an impression. At the same time, she is intensely emotionally driven and would need to pull off highly dramatic scenes, like her attempt to get revenge on her school counselor's killer--but also drama played for laughs, like her expectation that she'll have to become a villain after the failed revenge or her reaction to being dragged into the baseball game.
Cassie is an interesting combination of reckless enthusiasm and struggles with self-confidence. Not big on tact and can be toxically optimistic. Her actress shouldn't be the glamorous type; she needs to seem like a very ordinary, relatable, down-to-earth girl (who happens to have superpowers). No big transformative makeover moments--she should just become more and more comfortable with and confident in who she is as she matures. Her actress should be able to convey the stages of an arc in which she gradually figures out her distinctive identity and develops as a strong leader and role model.
Anita's actress needs to have a strong, authoritative presence. You should really feel that she can compel others to do her bidding at the sound of her voice. She should have a warm quality too that really comes through in her relationship with Slo-bo in particular. There needs to be a balance of her formidable powerfulness and the fact that she's a teenage girl who is increasingly in over her head, and her struggles as she is stuck raising her deaged-to-infant parents must be poignant.
Slo-bo should be cast as someone who has the quality of an old soul despite being the technical youngest of the group. He should combine the tough abrasiveness that he feels he needs to assume as Li'l Lobo's successor with a keen sensitivity and struggles with self-loathing. He insists he's not a good guy and presents himself in the most morally gray terms he can, and this isn't an act (exactly), but it's complicated by the fact that he is legitimately kind and self-sacrificing. If played right, the audience won't initially know what to make of him but by the end should be heartbroken by his apparent death.
For Ray, someone who can portray the heroic nature of the character, but neither formidably muscular or a suave heartthrob type--he's rather ordinary. This needs to be someone with good comedic timing, someone who can pull off the naivete and the Absolute Disaster-ness and seem out of his depth in the real world, but also convey introspectiveness and a longing to be loved. He wears his heart on his sleeve, struggles with some depressive episodes, and can be quite vulnerable, with some notably dramatic scenes. There should be a bit of an edge to the character as well, as he becomes more jaded and makes choices that could potentially result in his going evil.
Grant needs to have a sort of ordinary-teenage-boy quality. Earnest, sweet, eager to prove himself, awkward, a bit of a goofball. But his actor should also have the capacity to handle a highly dramatic role. He should be able to convey explosive anger without being brutish and unsympathetically aggressive. There's an underlying anxiety in how he responds to the world, something ingrained in him by his abusive upbringing. Despite his powers and the anger and strength associated with them, he is emotional and vulnerable, with quite a few scenes that would require him to weep. He undergoes a striking change in demeanor after his face is scarred, and his actor would need to make the transition into bitterness believable.

Useful Part 2
fluff with a little hurt and comfort. If you want answers as to the lack of angst, look through my recent posts for an explanation.
—* — * — * —* —*
“Wait, you have a WHAT?” were the first words that the rest of the Gotham-based vigilantes heard when they finally were able to track down where Damian had gone. Dick looked over at Bruce, who was noticeably tense. No surprise there, the man had just found out that he had a second biological child. One who was apparently a superhero already, without his intervention, and also apparently had a tragic background in the League of fucking Assassin Assholes. Not to mention that Damian’s track record with meeting siblings wasn’t great, even if this one wasn’t actually new to him. Nobody had any real fear of Damian relapsing on his no-kill rule, they knew he had matured far too much to be at risk of killing for something as immature as sibling rivalry anymore.
But there was still fear. Because this new Wayne was an Unknown Factor, and as a rule the Bats hated Unknown Factors. And they had no idea what the relationship between the two had been before they had been separated, or what it would become now.
“That wasn’t Damian’s voice,” Dick helpfully pointed out the obvious. Bruce only frowned, doing his best (and failing) to hide his anxiety about what they would find. Silently, the group inched forward to the edge of the abandoned building they were on top of so that they could look over at what was happening. What they saw was a girl, presumably the same one who had been in a ladybug onesie and had fearlessly begun to ask them to leave Paris— until she had laid proper eyes on Robin and fled, that was. That girl was sitting down next to an unmasked Damian, who had his arm around her shoulders and let her lean into his side. He even smirked cheerfully at her question before continuing to speak to her.
“A dragon-bat. I knew you’d love hearing about him, I’ll introduce you when you come visit the Batcave. His name is Goliath,” Damian admitted smugly. Despite the familiar attitude and pride behind his words though, his spying family couldn’t help but notice that he kept periodically rubbing the girl’s (they really needed to find out her name) shoulder in reassurance. None of them missed the tear tracks on both of their faces, or how red the girl’s eyes were. Clearly they had missed something big.
But nobody wanted to try to figure that out yet. This scene was too precious, too breathtaking for them to interrupt just yet. They had never seen Damian this vulnerable around someone outside of their little circle before, someone from the Time Before Bruce, no less. Most of the time, only Nightwing was able to see this side to Damian. And usually the roles were reversed, with Damian being the one consoled. They had never seen him in the position of the comforter before. The pillar of support.
It really cemented just how far he had come.
So they watched silently as the girl flinched, pulling away a bit and hunching in on herself. The laugh she let out was small and overflowing with self-degradation.
“You make it sound as if the rest of your family actually wants me to visit,” she replied sourly. Damian gently cuffed her over the head, frowning.
“Two things,” he held up two fingers from his free hand. “One: They will. They accepted me, and I was— well, you remember how I used to be. Once they actually meet you, and process the fact that there’s another Wayne now, they will bombard you with more welcoming than you will know what to do with. Two: It’s Our family, Marinette. Not mine, ours.”
Well, at least they had a name now. But it seems like they had bigger issues now, like Marinette’s clearly damaged sense of self. Jason and Tim traded knowing glances; it wasn’t hard for them to guess where, or how, she might have been damaged enough to think so lowly of herself.
They watched as Marinette shook her head.
“I don’t know. It’s one thing to try to… to get to know you again. We used to be close before… everything,” she haltingly argued, voice small and frail and uncertain. But she never once looked away from Damian’s eyes, trying to convey as best as she could what she was feeling. “But they’re different. They don’t have any reason to trust or like me, Dami. And I’m bad at, well everything, but especially,” she waved her hands frantically as if indicating the whole situation they were in. “I mean, listen to me! I can barely articulate right now, and I’m talking to someone I’ve known my whole life! I’m a mess. Nobody wants a mess.”
It was Damian’s turn to snort, and he pulled her right back into his side. “Please. If anything, that’s exactly the type of child Father goes looking for. We’re all a mess. Especially Father, trust me.”
“You’re just trying to make me feel better,” she accused suspiciously, but sank into his sideways embrace anyway. Damian chuckled.
“No, I’m being honest. He’s terrible at emotions, not that I really have much room to talk. We all are pretty bad with them. But he’s the most obvious when it comes to that issue,” Damian smirked over at his sister conspiratorially. “For example. He still tries to tell people that he works alone, and pushes people away because he has this intense desire to protect, but doesn’t know how to say “I don’t want you to get hurt, stop worrying me,” so instead he says “Go away, I don’t need you,” only for us to see through that nonsense and remind him that the amount of people in his team is in the double digits already. He doesn’t want to admit he cares about us and is vulnerable—”
“Sounds familiar,” Marinette teased with a watery grin, startling a short laugh from her twin. He nudged her a little roughly (but not to roughly) and playfully glared at her. Marinette just giggled.
“I have no idea what you’re talking about,” he lied with a grin before waving his free hand in dismissal. “Anyway. Another example. He has no idea how to tell a stranger, “hey, I’m your father and I will not reject you. In fact, I’m completely willing to adopt you right this moment and whisk you away to Gotham and relative safety and hire an entire team of therapists to help you and buy you half the world if you asked for it,” so instead he and the rest of our emotionally constipated family just lurks on the edge of a building in broad daylight eavesdropping on us and expects us not to notice.”
“Wait what,” Marinette’s gaze instantly whipped up towards the sky, taking only half a second to locate the aforementioned eavesdroppers. Everyone except Bruce at least had the courtesy to duck down and pretend not to be there when they noticed she had seen them, leaving Batman standing seemingly alone on the concrete roof. Marinette blinked once. Twice. Then turned to Damian. “I’m gonna blame the fact that I didn’t notice them on emotional turmoil, because there is no way I’ve gotten THAT rusty.”
Damian smiled, but didn’t laugh. He knew that was a deflection to try and distract from Marinette’s quickly resurging self-consciousness. Her hands were already trembling again, and the fear from only minutes ago had resurfaced. The insecurity. He could practically see the words “I’m not good enough,” written in her irises.
“You’ll be fine,” he whispered, standing up and pulling her with him. “If anyone has to worry here, it’s me.”
“What the hell are you talking about?” Marinette whisper-hissed right back, eyes wide in disbelief and confusion. “You’re— You! Mister Perfect!”
Damian rolled his eyes, and his self-deprecating smirk matched the laugh Marinette had given just a few minutes earlier. “For the League, maybe,” he shrugged. “Never the Wayne family. Which is why I know you’ll be fine. If they put up with everything I’ve done and still call me one of them, they’ll accept you with barely a second thought.”
Marinette’s next argument was cut off by the sound of a dozen soft footfalls stirring up dirt not far ahead of them. The BatClan had landed from the rooftop.
Marinette gulped.
But if there was one thing— one thing she still remembered from her days as Marie Al-Ghul, it was how to fake pride and confidence. She straightened her shoulders automatically, lifted her chin, and pulled away from Damian’s supporting arm around her shoulder. Damian let her.
A little bit of old resentment flared up in him as he saw Batman walk up close enough to comfortably talk with them. Resentment that he no longer held onto, but that had haunted him nearly every night of the first two years he spent with his dad. The realization that maybe his twin was the one that was meant to be a Wayne. Marie had the blue eyes, the compassion, the more specifically detective-oriented mind. The calm head. Sometimes. Marie was exactly who he imagined when he thought of a naturally born member of the BatClan. Stubborn, clever, morally just. She had risked immediate death just because she refused to fight him, for crying out loud. Because she didn’t want to hurt the boy who used to be her best friend. The only ally she had ever had, growing up.
Meanwhile, he still had issues reigning in his anger sometimes. He had too much blood on his hands, he was more of a battlefield tactician than a long-term strategist. Still stubborn, but also completely unaware of the pain he brought others with his words or actions a lot of the time. He used to be such a rage fueled little demon, and thinking about how his sister fit the classic Wayne outline more thoroughly than he did had made him destroy more than a few practice dummies in frustration.
But now, looking at Marinette trying so hard to appear strong and proud when he knew she was still so shattered inside, relief overpowered the old and dull resentment. This was what she needed, he could sense that easily. She, just like him all those years ago, needed Bruce and the others to start to heal her and reforge what the League had badly molded.
“... Marinette, I suppose?” Damian nearly facepalmed at his father’s awkward attempt at a conversation starter. Marinette herself was clearly too keyed up and overthinking things to even register any amusement at the lame attempt, merely nodding with an overly serious expression on her face.
“Marinette Dupain-Cheng, Monsieur Wayne. Or that’s my name nowadays, that is,” She stumbled a little in her response before clenching her fists and forcing herself to continue as calmly as she could muster up. “My birth name was Marie Al-Ghul.”
Bruce’s eyebrows visibly furrowed underneath his cowl. “Was?”
“I…” Marinette finally looked away, shame creeping back onto her face. “I was explicitly told that I was stripped of the Al-Ghul name and would be killed if I ever dared lay claim to it again. So I not-so-legally changed it. And I was later adopted.”
Several sharp gasps or the hiss of breath through teeth bit through the quiet breeze. Nobody was necessarily surprised, Marinette could see it when she looked through her eyelashes and examined the winces and sympathy on the faces of the vigilantes before her. Batman’s shoulders were stiff, as if someone had paralyzed only his shoulder blades.
“And the people who adopted you?” Batman pursued. Marinette couldn’t read his tone very well, but it sounded vaguely angry so she quickly raised her hands in a placating gesture and her eyes widened significantly.
“They’ve been amazing! They don’t know anything about my past, or who raised me, but they are endlessly patient with me. I mean, honestly! Sabine caught me when I was trying to steal one of her gold bracelets in Hong Kong— and I know I’ve never been as good of a combatant as Dami, but I’ve always been better at sleight of hand and stealth so honestly that’s impressive— and she saw my dirty eight-year-old face and for some reason decided, ‘yeah I want this one as my daughter’ and roped Tom right into it and next thing I know they somehow tailed me to my hideout? I still don’t know how the hell they managed that, but Tom had a huge plate of steaming buns and I was so hungry and suddenly it’s two years later and I’m adopted and we’re on a plane to Paris—” Marinette threw up her hands. “I still don’t fully grasp what happened sometimes.”
She belatedly seemed to realize that she had just gone on an entire breathless rant at the speed of sound, and slapped her hands over her mouth before lunging into a deep bow. “I apologize! I spoke horridly out of turn!”
To her surprise though, she was met with a soft laugh instead of a scolding. She jerked in surprise, whipping her head up only to see Batman holding a hand over his chin to hide his large grin. It only took another second for the boys behind him to laugh a lot LESS softly. Nightwing strolled over casually and swung an arm around both her and Damian’s shoulders, playfully nudging her brother with his knee.
“I think she fits right in, don’t you little D?”
“Of course,” Damian scoffed, though his eyes were playful. “She is a Wayne by blood. She ‘fits in’ more than you strays.”
“Dami!” Marinette whipped back to him and puffed out her cheeks. “That was uncalled for!” she barked. Damian held his hands up in surrender.
“Relax,” he said as soothingly as he could manage. “They know I’m joking,” he dropped his hands and a knowing smirk took over his face. “And besides, now you’re relaxed so my plan worked,” Marinette could only blink at that. She… did feel more relaxed, actually. “Also. I told you you’d be accepted easily. They already consider you one of us.”
“Wha— there’s no way—” she frantically looked at each of the older men around her, but each of them just shot her a smile or grin and a short nod. Her shoulders and jaw both fell, and it broke a little of everyone’s heart.
Marinette looked so utterly shocked, bewildered to be accepted as if it was still something profoundly foreign to her. And there was that disbelief in her eyes, that distrust that screamed that she expected some sort of lie here. That told that she thought this would all crumble away at any second. If anyone had any reservations about bringing her into their inner circles, it vanished right that moment. She needed support, or she’d crumble away and they all knew it.
“How about we start by talking about the situation with Hawkmoth?” Red Robin spoke up, walking forward to stand beside Batman. “I assume that’s a little more in your element?”
Damian silently vowed to thank Tim later for that. In a silent, completely anonymous way of course. Couldn’t have Tim thinking they were friends or something now, could he? Marinette instantly straightened up and nodded, her confidence returning with a little more sincerity this time.
“Yeah. Yeah, let me transform again. It’ll be easier to explain.”
—*—*—*—*—*
It was three weeks later, on Marinette’s third now-weekly visit to the Batcave, when the question finally came up. Jason had asked to spar with Marinette for the first time, having seen her in action as Ladybug and wanting to test the girl when she didn’t have superpowers to rely on. Damian hadn’t been down in the cave to warn him, and the result was Jason’s gut sinking as Marinette scrambled as far away from him as she could, eyes wide and chest heaving in the beginnings of a panic attack.
“Shit,” Jason muttered before he quickly knelt down and did his best to talk her down, to calm her until her breathing slowed and her pupils were back to normal. It wasn’t long afterwards that Marinette started hugging herself, refusing to look at him. But he wasn’t going to just back down, he wanted to solve this issue. If even the mere suggestion of a spar was enough to set her off, he needed to figure out why and fix it.
So he carefully lowered himself so he was sitting only a foot away from her, resting his arms across his knees casually.
“Sorry,” he apologized. “Didn’t think it would be a sore subject. That’s on me.”
Marinette just shrugged, but didn’t answer him. She just buried her face in her arms and took a shaky breath.
Jason let the silence linger for a while before trying again. “Does this have to do with certain Asshole Assassins?”
That startled a slightly hysterical bark of laughter from her, and she had to wipe away a few tears when she raised her head and finally turned it in his direction slightly. Not enough for her to be looking at him,  but just a subtle turn to show that she was listening and speaking to him. “Yeah.”
“You know, you never told us why you got disowned,” Jason tried to make his words as casual as possible, but wasn’t surprised when Marinette still stiffened and took a sharp breath. He didn’t push. The stage was set, and he’d wait until either she took the opportunity to open up or told him to leave well enough alone. Her tongue flicked out to wet her lips, and her foot tapped on the ground a bit. Clear signs of her anxiety around the subject, and Jason’s hopes vanished a little. He would probably have to wait longer for her to be ready to share.
But, to his pleasant surprise, he was wrong. She took another few minutes to gather her thoughts, but she did eventually open up to him.
“I refused to fight Damian,” she admitted. “It was… We were seven. It wasn’t supposed to be a fight to the death, but it was a very important spar. We were using live weaponry, and we were told to fight until we couldn’t anymore. Whoever fell first would be relegated as a mere soldier, and have to fight for status like any other assassin in the League. The winner would officially be named as G— as Ra’s Heir. I didn’t want to fight, because I knew Damian would win but I also knew that it wouldn’t be as easy as Ra’s probably expected if I gave it my all like he wanted. I knew both Damian and I would be heavily injured if I did as he asked, and it wouldn’t be worth it. If I misjudged anything, any single hit, I could have accidentally injured Damian permanently and ruined his worth in Ra’s eyes, and that wasn’t an option. I didn’t care that throwing the fight was as good as giving up my life, because at least I could be sure that Damian kept his. I could make sure that he was treated well, or as well as anyone could hope for in the League anyway. I could, with only a few words, make sure he became indispensable. Ra’s and Talia never liked me as much as Damian anyway, I figured… I figured it was nobody’s loss,” She swallowed heavily, clenching her eyes shut. “I was always just the spare. The extra. Damian was their crown prince, the one with actual value. Even to me. I saw him, and I saw everything I wanted to be. I… I tossed down my weapons and let him stab me, because I figured I owed it to him for being such a failure in comparison to him. That I owed it to him to do everything I could to make things easier for him, since I was just an unnecessary obstacle—” strong arms wrapped around her, and she turned to sob into Jason’s chest as he just silently held her.
“Idiot,” Damian whispered, making Marinette jump. Her twin sat only a few feet away, though only Jason would have known when exactly he had gotten there with them. He shook his head at her. “I never would have gotten as far as I did without you,” he whispered, looking up at the cave ceiling. “You were the only real rival I had. When you left, everything was either too easy or nearly impossible, nothing was the same as trying my best against someone who was just as good as me. And when I got here and met the others, I didn’t think any of them were worthy of taking your position, you know,” he scoffed a bit as he got lost in his memories. “That’s why I hated Tim for so long, I think. He reminded me of you so much that I wanted nothing more than to punch him for daring to replace you—”
“Heh, the Replacement twice over, huh?” Jason joked. Damian chuckled with a small eye roll.
“Plus, he just has a really punchable face,” Damian added, trying to distract from the emotion behind everything he had just admitted. “Part of me thought you were dead. The other part refused to believe that. And seeing Tim and how some of his mannerisms were the same as yours,” Damian shrugged a little. “It stung. Especially that second year, when I started to regret that you never had the chance to come here and join them with me. Meet them with me.”
Marinette sniffled. “... Who are you and what have you done with Dami? He’s never this sappy.”
Damian flicked a pebble at her head with a good natured glare, successfully diffusing the serious air a little. Marinette wouldn’t ever be normal, and it would take a while before she was no longer fragile, but she could get there. Especially now that her bridges with her brother had been mended, and and a whole new family had cropped up to help support her.
She was glad Damian had convinced her to try, again.

When Harley Quinn asks the BatClan for help, they listen. Because if she’s going to them, of all people, it’s because she doesn’t need help with something illegal, or with taking someone down, or teaching anyone a lesson. The only reason Harley would ask them for help is if someone, or something, that Harley considered important needed protecting.
Or if the Joker was involved.
Luckily (that was sarcasm) for all of Gotham, this particular story involves both of those prerequisites being met at the same time. Her daughter, who she has kept secret for years, is coming to Gotham and the last thing Harley wants is for the Joker to find out about her.
But her daughter isn’t walking into the lion’s den for nothing. She has her own mission in mind, one that she also needs the help of the Bats for.
So, all in all, it’s the usual Gotham chaos.

The Robin 80th Anniversary Special
Tumblr media
It's not a secret that I'm first and foremost a Dick Grayson fan, whether he comes dressed as Robin, Nightwing, Batman or something else. But I try to be charitable and be happy for fans of the other Robins that they got a pice of the birthday cake, i. e. the Robin 80th Anniversary Special.
For your enjoyment (?), here are my thoughts about the book. Spoilers ahead, obviously – don't like, don't read!
I honestly thought almost all of the stories were ok – but pretty forgettable. Marv Wolfman's spin on Dick leaving to become Nightwing, in "A little nudge" (art by Tom Grummett and Scott Hanna), is probably the only one I will remember and reference in the future. I don't know if or how it is supposed to fit into the (any?) continuity, but as far as I can see, it works nicely in the current setting.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Dick's parting from Robin and Bruce was successively portrayed as more and more hostile. When he originally left Robin to become Nightwing (1983–1984), the two still had a good relationship. This changed in comics to, first, that Bruce decided to retire Robin, and then to that Bruce outright fired Dick and kicked him out of the cave. This lead to that their relationship was portrayed as poor, antagonistic even, for a good many comics years.
The bad mood was picked up by Batman The Animated Series, where Dick left being resentful of Bruce and his methods.
I don't have a lot of good things to say about what has happened to the Bat-family after Flashpoint. But from what we've seen from scattered panels, Dick was the one who decided he wanted to leave Robin. You can read Marv Wolfman's story as confirmation of that. Which is nice.
Bruce is only a little bit of a jerk in this story, being utterly rigid about that Robin has to follow orders. Dick, however, chooses to stay with a kid that had been shot instead of following the criminals.
Dick has had it with Bruce's rules and leaves the cave, but he says "later" rather than "goodbye".
It's made clear that those strict rules were Bruce's way to say, "I know you've grown up, and you should move on; I'll be fine without you."
Batman # 408, where Bruce decides to retire Robin because he got scared when the Joker shot Dick, is firmly established in my mind as the "correct" leaving story in my mind. It was the only one I had read and knew of for many years, and the two still part on decent terms. But Marv Wolfman's 80th Anniversary version has a lot going for it.
On to the rest of the stories...
"Aftershocks" By Chuck Dixon, art Scott McDaniel and Rob Hunter.
Tumblr media
Set during Cataclysm (a storyline from 1998) where Dick lived in Blüdhaven before he moved back to Gotham and became Batman. It's an action-filled story where (fingerstripe) Nightwing comes to Gotham after an earthquake has hit the city.
It's interesting to read this, living through the corona crisis that is going on right now. I don't know how it is where you live, but where I am, people are setting up networks to help people who can't go out to shop or walk the dog, University students are helping kids do their math lessons with the help of Facebook, people make masks for health workers etc. But when Chuck Dixon writes what happens after a catastrophe, Dick has to fight his way through masked thugs who are trying to rob an ambulance of "painkillers and tranks" when he tries to save a cab from falling with a damaged bridge. A woman is giving birth inside the car, and the story ends with that the mother wants to name the boy after Nightwing.
"Well...Robin works, right", he says.
"Team building" by Devin Grayson, art Dan Jurgens and Norm Rapund.
Tumblr media
Well, I'll always soak up everything that has to do with Dick and the Titans – Teen Titans, New Teen Titans, Titans, any Titans...
Devin Grayson wrote The Titans 1999–2000, which is the setting of this story. Most of it takes place inside a H.I.V.E. locale, where an exasperated boss (Damien Darkh) chews out his soldiers after a fight with the Titans. But Darkh decides not to kill the lot of them, because they did distract the Titans while he stole a red crystal/power source. Of course, it turns out Dick is the soldier who has kept his helmet on; he takes the crystal with him and gives Darkh a bit of advice on team-building on his way out.
"Generally speaking, fear of execution isn't a great motivator. I've found basic team-building and morale-boosting to be much more effective. Like, I'm just spitballing here, but... You ever consider a pizza night?"
Well, it did keep me amused, and it shows us that Dick is a good leader and strategist, (and a great acrobat who manages to get out of the H.I.V.E. uniform with one hand, on the way out), although it isn't exactly a surprise that Dick was in the building when you get near the end.
"The Lesson Plan" by Tom King and Tim Seeley, art Mikel Janín.
Tumblr media
Now, I do like some things about the Grayson run, but with a bit of distance, I've realized it was mostly the art. The sexualization of Dick and how King and Seely wrote him as a guy who jumps first and plans never got tiresome. This story is in-character for Grayson; Dick is accompanied by a girl (Paris) from St Hadrian's on a mission, and on the way, he remembers the lessons Batman gave him and imparts his own interpretation of them to Paris. As is Batman says, "plan everything", and Dick says "Improvise. Leap first... figure it all out on the way down." Ergo, classic King and Seeley. Also, it is possibly implied Dick made out with a beautiful girl that turned out to be gorilla in disguise...? Yep, vintage King and Seeley.
Other than that, I don't have a big problem with the story. Some things ring true to me – as when Dick remembers Batman saying, "At their core, people are cowardly and self-serving. Trust no one until you know them. And even then, never completely". And what Dick says is, "Give the benefit of the doubt until you gotta knock 'em out."
For my own peace of mind, I'm reading this as Dick is half-joking with his advice. It's not like we've never seen him make plans and be suspicious post-Flashpoint.
On a side note, one of the best characterizations of Dick Grayson to my mind is a panel from Black Mirror. When Dick explains he had injected James Gordon Jr with a subdermal tracer, and says about himself, "I am a softie. And I do try to see the best in people... but that doesn't mean I'm stupid."
Tumblr media
Detective Comics # 881. By Scott Snyder, art Jock and Francesco Francavilla.
"More Time" by Judd Winnick, art Dustin Nguyen.
Tumblr media
Jason has a cute story about him repairing Thomas Wayne's watch as a present to Bruce. He started the work as a tiny Robin (too tiny, in my opinion, but with Dustin Nguyen on art it probably couldn't turn out any other way) and finished the work as Red Hood. Jason delivers the present to Bruce on his birthday, placing it on the Batmobile while it is parked in a Gotham alley.
"Extra Credit" by Adam Beechen, art Freddie E. Williams II.
Tim has an appointment with the guidance counsellor at Gotham City High School. Tim sees a future in law enforcement (that's the first I've heard of that, but I'm no expert on Tim) and he's adopted (again, something I haven't seen post-Flashpoint). But the counsellor doubts that Tim will be admitted because he has nothing to show when it comes to extracurricular activities. It's kind of a fun few pages where the counsellor suggests things that Tim could do, and Tim thinks about what he does as Robin on his spare time.
"Boy Wonders" by James Tynion IV, art Javier Fernandez.
Tumblr media
Tim, Red Robin, is unsure what he wants to do with his life and goes to his brothers? fellow Robins? for advice.
I know emotions have been running high because Dick tells Tim that he is "demonstrably smarter" than he is, which makes it sound as if Dick is not really smart at all.
Again, for my peace of mind, I choose to read this as I want: that "big brother" Dick is encouraging, he has always thought highly of Tim, he has no ego to preserve. This doesn't make Dick a reliable narrator on the subject, and the page ends with that Tim thinks "He was the first. He's the best. He's always going to be the role model. "So, two brothers who admire each other.
Tim also talks to Jason and Tim, and the story ends with that he tells Batman he wants to start Gotham Knights protocol, the team in Detective Comics (Rebirth.) 2016-2018.
"Fitting In" by Amy Wolfram, art Damion Scott.
Tumblr media
Stephanie, as Robin has problems because Tim's Robin suit doesn't fit her female body. But at the end of the day, Bruce gives Stephanie her own "changing room" in the Bat-cave, because she's female.
...are Bruce and Alfred idiots? Did Dick, Jason and Tim have exactly the same body type when they were Robin? Stephanie deserved a story worth being told, not this one.
"My Best Friend" by Peter J. Tomasi, art Jorge Jimenez.
Tumblr media
Jonathan Kent writes a school essay about his best friend, Damian. As he writes the words on his laptop at home, they are illustrated with pcitures of the two as both Robin and Superboy, and as Damian and Jon in civvies. Tomasi and Jimenez worked with Super Sons (2017–2019), and though I didn't read that, I'm pretty sure this story is an extra chapter in that series.
"Bat and Mouse" by Robbie Thompson, art Ramon Villalobos.
Tumblr media
It's not the worst story in the book, but somehow the one I disliked the most. It is part of what is going on in Teen Titans and Bat-titles right now; we see Alfred's tombstone and how Batman and Robin have a strained relationship and difficulties in communicating. I'm not keeping up with what is going on with Damian and Bruce in detail, so I really can't say whether this story is consistent with how things have been going lately. I'll let Bruce-and-Damian fans take that ball.
To be honest, my reaction to "Bat and Mouse" is probably due to that I really, really don't like what's happened in the Bat titles lately. I firmly hope that the current situation will be changed and Alfred will be alive again, and I wish I could go back and re-read this book years from now without being reminded of this very dark time when DC seemingly doesn't want any money from me for new comics...
Being who I am, I probably take it waaaaay too seriously to try to understand where/if these stories fit in the DC continuity... The writers have probably (rightly) thought more about writing a good story than making it consistent with any grand plan for a timeline for all of the DC universe. But whatever.
The Grayson story clearly happens in a post-Flashpoint universe, as does Damian's and Tim's stories. But Tim says he's adopted, which I believe has never been said outright post-Flashpoint. And Stephanie has as far as I know not been Robin in this continuity. Chuck Dixon's Nightwing story is explicitly set during Cataclysm (a storyline from 1998) where Dick lived in Blüdhaven before he moved back to Gotham and became Batman. Post-Flashpoint, he moves to Blüdhaven for the first time in Nightwing vol 4., so Dixon's story should take place in the old continuity.
On the other hand. The last pages of the book are made to look like profile overviews in the Bat-computer and use pictures from different Robin runs. If the snippets of information are supposed to be the current continuity for the Robins, a lot from the pre-Flashpoint universe is back in canon.
Shortly, Dick was adopted (that's the word they use), formed the Teen Titans, moved to Blüdhaven and was Agent 37 for a while. Blüdhaven comes before Agent 37, but it's not explicitly stated when he first moved there. Because if Dick was in Blüdhaven before his time with Spyral, it is inconsistent with parts of Rebirth Nightwing. (Which I can live with...)
Jason's story starts as the street kid who tries to steal the tires of the Batmobile, his stint as Robin was short, and today, Red Hood has formed a tenuous alliance with Batman. Tim uncovered Batman's secret and made a bid to become the new Robin – and his new moniker "Drake" is acknowledged. Stephanie was Robin for a very short while. Damian was created with genetic material that Talia stole after a romantic tryst with Bruce, and he was bred to be an assassin.
Personally, of course, I think that Dick Grayson was worth more of an effort from DC on his 80th anniversary. But on the whole, the things we got were decent, "A little nudge" gave me something I will keep with me, and several of the covers are great.
(The cover photo is still pinched from Dan Jurgens' Twitter – I haven't bought all of the variant covers.)

4.21 Life on Mars
Episode:
• man I remember this scandal involved Hoynes and him resigning, but I can’t remember why...something with an affair and a book coming out? (I love that I can’t remember exactly what though, it makes this rewatch more fun)
• Joe Quincy in the steam pipe trunk distribution venue lmao
• “Sure, we’d never want to compromise the aesthetic integrity of the steam pipe trunk distribution venue.”
He’s got the sarcasm of Chandler
• ok but Ainsley’s office was an actual room...with a door...they just took that all down when she left? lol
• “Aren’t you supposed to be showing me around?”
“That was a staircase ok? What do you want?”
• “I’m the press secretary boo boo, I don’t have that kind of time.”
• haha oh yeah the bird
• Donna’s so cute
“You’re gonna hurt your beak.”
• oh the Lauren’s are back
• oh my god the one Lauren suggested dragging Saudis in a U Haul!!! I wasn’t laughing at her suggestion but I was laughing at how confident she sounded and how she thought it was a good idea
• ok so book is involved
• oh yeah Stu Winkle! It’s all coming back to me now
• I love how Toby’s just trying to eat his salad in peace and Charlie keeps rambling
• “Which, by the way, you can cover this thing in barbecue sauce and it’d still taste like the ground.”
• I feel a little bad for Joe. They’re trolling him and probably don’t like/trust him cause he’s a Republican, and when he tries to tell CJ what to say on the phone to Stu and she cuts him off and says “I know what to say” he makes this face that I don’t really know how to describe and I’m like aww Joe it’s ok buddy
• Hoynes is actually so dumb tho making all those calls from the White House
• this music is so dramatic/lawyery
• So I’ve noticed that every scene with Joe walking away fades to black. why is that?
• also, I like this episode but it always feels very rushed. I mean I understand that they had to get Hoynes out of there ASAP to set up the last 2 episodes, but I kinda wish they did this arc in a couple episodes instead of one.
Podcast:
• guest stars: Richard Schiff (again!) Eli Attie
• filmed live in London
• “Toby eats a salad. And Donna tries to reason with a bird.”
• This episode was submitted as part of the Emmy win for Outstanding Drama Series. Matthew Perry and Tim Matheson were also nominated for best guest actor in a drama.
• woah Richard Schiff came up with the fireplace idea in the Leadership Breakfast which is absolutely one of the funniest cold opens ever.
• the guy that voices Stu Winkle was a waiter in a couple episodes of Friends. His real name is Sam Pancake 😂
• Richard forgot Bartlet’s name oh my lord
• He doesn’t remember Hoynes resigning being all that shocking, since Hoynes wasn’t in favor with the White House very much, and found it fascinating that Bartlet and Leo tried to convince him to stick around since they or the staff didn’t really like him.
• Aaron said to the writers room that he wanted to find a way to get Hoynes out of that job, and asked if there was a scandal they could do. Eli told him the story of Bill Clinton’s political strategist Dick Morris, who had a long affair with a prostitute and would let her listen in on the calls between him and the President. She called the National Enquirer and tried to sell her story, basically saying “I’m sleeping with the President’s closest advisor. I listen in on phone calls with the President and there’s life on Mars. You know he told me there’s life on Mars.” They didn’t believe her and then a few weeks later, NASA and Bill Clinton held a press conference to say that a meteorite had been found in Antarctica, they’d been studying it, there were traces of molecules and there may be life on Mars. And suddenly everybody at the National Enquirer said “um, where’s that number?”
• There is only one main storyline in this episode, much different from the multiple storylines in the other episodes.
• The salad eating joke, while funny, has an emotional layer to it. The reason why Toby is eating the salad is because he’s really trying to get back together with Andy.
• Aaron also hated salads so that’s probably where that came from.
• There’s a lot of ladder talk in the Steam pipe trunk distribution venue.
JOE: This White House doesn’t like lawyers very much, do they?
BLAIR: Really they hold them just one rung above being a Republican.
Then later in the same scene C.J. comes in:
CJ: “Let me show you around.”
JOE: “As a matter of fact I should probably stay here and get started.”
CJ: “Joe, I outrank you by like 17 rungs, so follow me would you?”
• C.J. and Joe argue about farm safety net and Joe says the Republican position is good because, “food is cheaper as a result”, and C.J. argues with him. But in season 2 when Bartlet is campaigning in Nashua, he’s talking about the dairy farmers and he says “you know, I screwed you guys on this one because I didn’t want the price of milk to be more expensive”.
• The memo on the script for the scene with CJ and Joe was titled “Hepburn / Tracy”. Aaron wanted to do a kind of Hepburn/Tracy bit between them during the farming subsidies scene.
• “Dulé Hill is just one of the most special human beings. But because I didn’t get to work with him that much. We only had three, four scenes maybe. There was a pool table scene, something else. And I adore that man, and more now than then. And I just wanted to say that he’s incredible....he’s incredible in this scene.”
• oh I didn’t even make the connection that Josh’s character in Scandal, David Rosen, is named after the character in the West Wing who was supposed to take Toby’s place. And he’s also a real person, a political fundraiser.
• Richard thought the significance of the bird was that it was warning the staff that something is going on.
“Tap tap tap” and “stop it”, “tap tap tap” and “stop it”. Something is going on outside of this West Wing that you don’t know about.”
• There was a bird on the ledge of the writers room that would peck at the window.
• They brought in a pigeon trainer to train the pigeon.
“They couldn’t throw in a dog too and get Rex on the screen?”
• Eli felt that the storyline with the Lauren’s and Will working on the ad juxtaposed with the Hoynes storyline was an echo of 17 people, where there’s jokes being written in one room while there’s serious drama happening elsewhere.
That’s a good comparison.
• Leo asking Hoynes “Are you in a a position to deny it?” makes the characters more complex and real.”
• the other names on the call list are people who have worked on the West Wing: Blanche Sinclair (prop master) Lyn Paolo (costume designer) and Ellen Totleben (set decorator)
Richard: “You have watched this show way too many times.”
• Eli thinks Matthew Perry was great in this episode but wishes it had more of the regular characters. He’s a guest coming in who swallows the whole episode.
“There’s only so many salads I can eat.” Richard 😂
• RICHARD: I always get struck by when people say “oh, I wish you guys were in the real White House”. I go “careful what you wish for”, because take a look at our record. The Clinton White House was much more successful than we were.”
ELI: “I think that that was a kind of a storytelling choice, talking about the sort of thinness of the accomplishments of this White House. And I remember my first week on the staff in the 3rd season, Aaron coming to me one day and say “would you just give me a quick paragraph on Bartlet’s accomplishments as president” and then he left the room. And I remember thinking “I just got here. You’ve been writing this show for two years”. But I think it was because really there weren’t that many single accomplishments. I just made up a few medium sized things. I think partly because you couldn’t say on the show “well, he had the defense budget and now college is free” and things that you would sort of weirdly have to depict in some major significant way. It was very hard to think of a way to dramatize those.”
• “I thought Allison Janney was so great in this episode.”
“When is that not the case?”

Curiosity, 2/?
Oh, hohoho. I am so gone. These two are giving me tingly happy feelings. We needs to build our TimRae army.
####
Raven had shitty family members, Tim noted. Not that it needed to go into his files on her because they already established that with her father, but seriously. Her demonic brothers were assholes, to say the least. He grunted as he swung his staff with all his bodyweight into the demon’s back, saving Batman from loosing an arm. But, fuck, man.
Basically, this is what’s happening:
Some cult, an offshoot of the Church of Trigon, has made its way into Gotham. For the past few days, they’ve been haphazardly opening portals and luring in demons into the city. They were under the belief a new lord of the underworld would bless them. Unfortunately, none of the demons that came into the world were demon lords – just angry demons out for some blood.
And, as it later turned out, after a half-sibling who killed their father.
Raven faintly wondered where she got her luck. All she wanted was to have some peace and quiet for the week – things were going surprisingly well in Jump. But no, some assholes had to play church and worship demons. What the fuck. She grunted and blocked an attack from one of the more gnarly demons, and flipped over it. She sent a ball of black energy to its back just as it was about to turn to her, and she watched as the demon skidded across the ground.
Raven briefly looked over her shoulder, making sure Red Robin and Batman were still alive somewhere in the forest clearing. Good, they still were. She faintly wondered if she should take them out for dinner as a peace offering for having to deal with her shitty family. Raven watched them struggle with a bigger demon – did these demons grow over the past few days? She furrowed her brows. Grunting, she turned back to the demon she was fighting and frowned.
“Sister,” red eyes glowed and the demons arms twitched, as it stood in front of her. The demon growled, fangs baring and it looked ready to pounce again.
“I hate my family,” Raven breathed, hands glowing and with a chant let go of a large blast of black energy.
“You killed father,”
Raven’s eyes widened as she listened to the first coherent sentence from the demon. They never really said anything, aside from sister. This was a first.
The demon growled, noting her opening, and pounced Raven. Fangs bared and claws sharp, it made a swipe at the smaller girl.
Raven grunted as she barely dodged the attack. She felt hot claws dig into her back and blood trickle down her side. She inhaled sharply as searing pain flashed through her body and she stumbled away from another attack. This was not good.
“Die,” the demon growled and started to run towards her.
“Raven!”
She faintly heard Tim in the background but her eyes were focused on the demon that was charging towards her. This whole situation was pissing her off. This stupid cult should have never started trying to bring demons into the world. Her brothers should just fuck off. And if she got her hands on one of the cult members, she’d –
The demon yelped as Raven’s soul self rose from her body. Her energy pulsed, anger and frustration running through her system. Her demon brothers should not be here. They should be no where civilians. She growled as her eyes glowed red, and her soul rose higher. Inky tendrils flooded the clearing, crawling over the floor and towards the two demons who were frozen to the stop.
Tim’s eyed widened as he watched Raven turn into her soul self. She rose off the ground, black energy pulsing through the air and black tentacles slithering across the floor towards the two demons. He inhaled sharply as her red eyes glowed, her face hooded and a shadow if a raven looming over her. He had never seen Raven use this kind of power before in battle, his heart hammered in his chest as a black tendril slithered just past his boots and towards the demon he and Batman were fighting earlier.
“Don’t come back,” Raven growled and with pulse of black energy, the demons were engulfed in the black tendrils. There were loud howls of pain and the tendrils crushed the demons into the ground. Black dust billowed in the air before slowly settling on the ground. The black tendrils slithered on the ground for a moment, before retreating back into Raven’s cape. Nothing was left of the demons.
“Raven,” Batman stepped next to Tim, watching as Raven lingered in the air. Her eyes continued to glow red as she stared at the pentagram on the forest floor. She turned to Batman, red eyes furrowed.
“They’re gone,” Batman supplied, waiting on guard for Raven’s next move.
Red eyes blinked and they flashed white. Familiar large purple-blue eyes stared down at Red Robin and Batman and she let out a soft gasp. The black energy around her disappeared and she landed unsteadily on her feet. She sent them an apologetic look.
“Sorry you had to see that,” she mumbled. She glanced at the pentagram before adjusting the hood over her head.
Batman nodded, eyes narrowing as he surveyed the scene. The cult members that summoned the demons were long gone after making a run for it during the battle. His frown deepened. This cat and mouse chase had to stop soon.
“You’re bleeding,” announced Red Robin, looking at the blossoming red patch over Raven’s right shoulder.
She forgot about that. Drawing her left hand underneath her cloak, Raven pressed her hand against the torn flesh. She winced. This might take a while to heal. “It’ll heal,” she said.
Tim frowned. He knew about her healing abilities, but he also knew that the display of massive amounts of energy can slow down her healing process. “Let’s go back to the cave,” he said. “Ride the Batmobile with us,”
Raven made a face. “I’ll fly,” she said and began levitating.
Batman frowned. “You lost blood and your energy is low. Better just ride with us,”
She waved them off and spun on her heels. Like hell was she going to ride a car in a shape of a bat. She knew they’d drive like Dick – like lunatics. “See you at the cave,” and without waiting for their reply, she flew off.
Batman frowned. “Stubborn,” he clicked his tongue.
Tim chuckled. “Seems pretty familiar,”
They arrived at the Batcave in record time and found Alfred making his way down into the med bay of the cave with some medical supplies and a steaming cup of tea. Alfred stopped and watched his two charges jump out of the Batmobile and remove their cowls. “Miss Raven is in the med bay. She arrived a few moments ago and we’ve been working on cleaning her wounds. Some of the cuts ran in deeper than expected,” he supplied as the trio walked towards the med bay.
Tim nodded, long black hair falling into his eyes. Pushing it back, he offered Alfred a soft smile. “Thanks, Al,”
Raven looked up from tending to her wounds. She had peeled off the top of her uniform, leaving her in a utilitarian black sports bra. Her bloodied cloak hung over the end of the bed she sat on. A bloodied sterile gauze was in her left hand, fresh from wiping away some of the blood from the back of her shoulder. “Hey,”
Bruce noticed the bloodied gauze. “Are you alright?”
Raven shrugged. “I’ve had worse,” she said. She thanked Alfred when he set new supplies next to her. “My family doesn’t like me all to much. I can pretty much say the feeling is mutual,”
“Do you think they are after you?” Bruce asked. “The demon you fought looked keen in killing you,”
Raven rolled her eyes. “Most people, and metas, would like to see me gone once they know who and what I am,” she sent a knowing smirk at Bruce, remembering the first time she met the Justice League and asked for help. It wasn’t a warm welcome, to say the least. She shook her head when Bruce continued to stare at her. “Honestly, no. I don’t think so. I’m not really very welcome in the family after we killed Trigon. We’re just dealing with a ragtag team of cult members and blood thirsty demons who find themselves on earth for the first time with no idea what to do expect kill,”
Bruce nodded. He sighed and pushed himself away from the medical cabinet he was leaning against. “Okay,” he began. “We’ll keep our ears close to the ground and listen for any new activities. I’ll coordinate with Oracle and see what we can do,” he said and began making his way out of the med bay. “Rest and get your energy back,”
“Understood,” replied Raven, watching Batman leave.
“Need help?”
Purple eyes slid over to Tim, her stare heavy and calculating. Raven reminded Tim a lot of Bruce, he could barely read her emotions. He eyed the bloodied gauze in her hand and took a small step forward, faintly wondering if he was stepping over boundaries. She was after all, half naked and they barely knew each other. Emphasis on the half-naked.
Raven watched Tim take another step forward, a tentative smile playing on his lips. She could feel several emotions coming off of him – concern, interest, curiosity, attraction. Raven blinked. Tim was so different from all the other Robin’s she met. Dick was a mix of seriousness with a strong intent of proving himself, he was strong willed, guarded, and such a hardheaded asshole sometimes; Jason was a wild mix of chaos and charm, and Damian was, well, Damian. The young boy was practically a storm of emotions. But Tim, Tim of all the Robins was a sea of calm in all of the chaos that goes around them – despite of the amount of caffeine he kept on drinking. She knew that he was the smartest of the Robins; an excellent strategist – she could practically feel how fast his brain works. Yet, he was so different from all the wildly active Robins she knew in her life. This intrigued Raven.
She titled her head and offered Tim a small smile. “Okay,”
Tim paused briefly, surprised that she would let him help her. Nodding, he stepped behind her on the med table and took a look at the three wounds that ran along her shoulder blades. He whistled at the sight of the gaping wounds. “Yikes,” Tim made a face. “Remind me to never get on the bad side of your family,”
Raven snorted.
With nimble fingers, he finished cleaning the wounds and set out to stitch them closed. He noted a few other scars that ran down her back and sides and disappeared into her uniform. He faintly wondered where they were from and what stories they told. These were not in her medical files. He always taught she could just heal herself completely.
“Sometimes, when I’m too tired, my healing process is slower than normal. Sometimes some scars stay,” said Raven suddenly, tilting her head just a little bit so she could see Tim over her shoulder.
Tim paused, blue eyes widening in surprise as they connected with amused purple eyes. His needle hovered close to her skin. “Huh? I –”
Using her good hand, she tapped the side of her head. “You think pretty loudly,” she quirked her lips. “Also, empath.”
“Oh!” Cheeks warmed, blue eyes averted from her amused purple ones and Tim focused on closing the wound on her shoulder. “Sorry,”
Raven shrugged, a small amused smile playing on her lips. “It’s okay,”
Tim concentrated on finishing his patch up job, trying to slow his thoughts down. After a few more moments of silence and after finally, finally, taping the last gauze over the wound, Tim was done. “I’m sure Cyborg does a better job at the tower,” he said after stepping away from the bed.
Raven looked at her shoulder briefly and hummed softly. Cyborg did a better job, but Tim didn’t need to know that. She looked up at Tim and tilted her head. “Thanks for the help,” she said and hopped off the table. She looked at what remained of her torn leotard and wondered if it was even worth trying to slip back on. She let out an exasperated sigh. Just her luck.
Tim watched Raven struggle to put her torn uniform back on. He averted his eyes briefly when he caught sight of her sports bra. Also, abs!
“Oh, wait. Here,” he said trying to hide his flustered voice and quickly turned on his heels, rummaging through one of the medical cabinets. Making a triumphant sound at the back of his throat, Tim turned around and grinned, offering Raven a grey t-shirt.
“I keep this here for emergencies,” he said as Raven took the offered shirt.
Raven chuckled softly and slipped on the oversized Superman shirt on her. She practically disappeared into the shirt as it hung over her body and fell mid-thigh. It was nice and soft, very comfortable. She looked at the worn Superman logo and she lifted an eyebrow at Tim. “Nice merch,”
Tim laughed, desperately trying to ignore how cute (?!?!) Raven looked in his shirt – she looked so small! “We taught it’d be nice to annoy Bruce once in a while,” he said. Blue eyes twinkled. “Jason has a full wardrobe and, uh, boxers,”
Raven rolled her eyes, amused still. “Of course he does,” her lips quirked a bit in a little smile. She picked up her torn robe and nodded at Tim. “Thanks for the help, Tim. I’m going to rest now,”
“No problem. Good night, Raven,” Tim watched as Raven walked out of the med bay, movements slow and graceful. As he watched her, he quickly squashed down any thoughts of how good she looked in his shirt. Tim swallowed and looked away, instead focused on putting away all medical equipment they just used. Notes, Tim, notes. Raven’s healing process is slower when she is drained. May leave scaring when healing slows down. Scars dip down the small of her back and tiny waist – oh god.
“Good night, Tim,”
Tim paused from returning the antiseptic and saw Raven pause briefly at the doorway and glance at him briefly before slipping through it. Tim blinked.
So much for taking notes, Tim.

Give me Damian Wayne with extreme PTSD
Give me Damian Wayne who flinches when someone raises their voice at him because of his mother. Give me Damian who freezes when the sound of metal clangs together because that was the last thing he heard before he watched his grandfather get killed in front of him. Or he can’t breathe when something, anything, presses against his neck because when he hesitated to kill his opponent his mother slit his throat then threw him in the pit. Give me Damian who is constantly looking over his shoulder, who has nervous ticks he desperately tries to hide. Who wakes up in the middle of the night coughing and gagging cause it was a little too dark and a little too cold and he could have swore he felt the Lazarus water burning his lungs and melting his throat and the only way he calms down is when he wipes his eyes and he sees it is only water not blood. Who hates fire and hates heat and stutters back when the fire place gets lit because they are cruel reminders that he died who has to press his fingers to his pulse to remind himself he is alive. he is home
Give me Tim Drake who has abandonment issues
Give me Tim Drake who flinches when some one touches him. Who is uncomfortable with physical affection because he’s never had it before. Give Me Tim who has to learn to conceal the panic when one of his friends leaves the tower to go visit home because they’re coming back. They aren’t leaving you. Give me Tim who, the moment he realizes he is getting close to some one, shuts off his emotions completely. Give me a Tim who sits alone and does his work because that’s his safe space. Alone. A Tim that bleeds a need of acceptance, who almost kills himself to get it. Who passes out on the training floor at 3 in the morning due to excessive exercise. The same Tim who cut off all emotions and refused to feel when Kon died because you swore you would never leave me. The same Tim who broke down in full hysteria when Bruce died, whose paranoia led him to a full mental breakdown where he sat half way across the world from his home, in an empty hotel room muttering to himself that there is no way Bruce is gone through sobs while the back of his mind, the strategist part, the detective part, told him that this is it that he’s going insane and that he’s going to lose everyone else because of it
Give me Dick Grayson with extreme insecurity issues
A Dick Grayson who puts himself in harm way to prove himself. Dick Grayson who crumbles and falls apart when a mission goes south. Who stares in the mirror and has to remind himself its not fake he’s real and the love he receives is real and valid. Who stands in his mentors shadow for so long he wonders if he is even there anymore physically or if he has finally just melted into the shadow itself. Who pushes himself so hard in training that he is dry heaving with a stomach that feels like a knife has dragged through it and legs that feel like rocks. Who ignores all his pain and keeps going because I have to make him proud and Dick Grayson who refuses the title hero because he doesn’t think he deserves it. Who believes he is still just a product of circumstance. A Dick Grayson who still thinks he has everything to prove. A Dick Grayson who hurts all the time because what gives him the right. A Dick Grayson who, after Wally, and Jason, and his parents, and Bruce, and Damian, and Donna, and Roy, believes that maybe just maybe it’s him whose the issue. Who sits on his bedroom floor in his tiny apartment screaming that why couldn’t it just for once be him instead. If the universe is punishing him for not being able to save all those people for not being good enough why can’t it just take him instead
Give me Jason Todd who has Trust issues
Give me a Jason Todd who had to hide under his kitchen table due to the fights and remembers it. A Jason who blamed his dad for the longest time for his mother’s drug addiction. Who cried and thanked God that his dad was finally getting what he deserved so maybe just maybe him and his mom would be okay. A Jason Todd who had to do such horrible things that he cursed the pit for leaving said memories instead of stealing them like it did his soul all to support her. A Jason Todd who thought that it’s fine, it’s okay because mom will overcome this and we will be happy. She promised. The promise that now laid cold and quiet on the bathroom floor. A Jason who always believed his mother loved him until she killed him in that warehouse. A Jason who was too quick to believe that Bruce cares about him. A Jason who was too quick to believe talia cared about him. A trust that took too many trips to the Lazarus pit to finally wash away. A Jason who just wants a family who will love him with no strings attatched. Who will be willing to just be there. A family he is terrified to find in Roy and Artemis and bizzaro because every time he gets close to some one they turn out to be monsters. Who is tired of looking for dependence. Who pushes everyone away. Who doesn’t talk about his past. Who doesn’t meet people’s eyes. Who laughs when people say they care. Who always has walls up because he let them down once, and he ended up bloody on a rooftop with the only person resembling a father saying all but he hated him.
Give me real human type bats.
Stephanie Brown who is terrified of becoming like her father. Who is stuck in the mindset that she will always be a d grade hero
Cassandra Cain who is terrified of truly hurting people. Who doesn’t want to be scary. Because her mom is scary and she isn’t her mom
Duke Thomas who freezes every time the joker comes around because all he can is his parent lying died with smiles on their faces.
Harper Row who was a little bit more difficult to train because she freezes and shrinks when someone raised their hand. Who felt guilty when Dick stopped the exercise to comfort her and tell her that one here was ever going to hurt her. That she was loved.
Kate Kane who still flinches at comments and slurs because in the army it seemed to go a little pass just words. Who still remembers the look on her sargents face when he dishonorablely discharged her. Who still shrinks away from public affection. Who despite her persona is still dealing with internalized homophobia

alright, now that i know a little bit more about tma, it’s time to give you all the only thing i can contribute to my fandoms
it’s time for TMA SURVIVOR AU
alright, i’m gonna start with elias. i think he’d 100% get to final 2/3, but i don’t think he’d manage to win. i mean, he’s an evil, cunning bitch, that’s half the battle! but he’s like, overconfidently honest about his backstabbing, like “yes, i will stab you in the back, what are you gonna do about it?”, which can’t win him many jury votes. he’s almost like a russell hantz kinda player, effective up until FTC. that move he made in ep 92? “melanie is now in this alliance. you wanna get rid of me? fine, the next thing that’ll happen will be all you losing your numbers and getting voted off one by one by one. anyone wants to vote me off?...didn’t think so”. you KNOW the jury would end up being out for his blood, like HELL daisy is voting for him! anyway, he wouldn’t win.
you know who would end up winning the whole thing? martin. damn right he’d take it. he’s nice and easily makes friends with everyone, he’s not afraid to be a cunning bitch when he needs to, but he’s not gonna go villain monologue like bitchard up there, and i bet he’d only start being very competent at the challenges nearing the end, so they can’t get him out. if he gets to F2/3, everyone in that jury is voting for martin. who doesn’t want to give martin a million dollars? i’d want to.
jon would suffer throughout the whole game. like, he’d make it almost all the way, like last person voted off before FTC, but good god he’s been through a lot. he gets roped into alliances, gets into so many awkward situations where oh you promised this to me now vote with me, but oh you’re gonna betray this other person oh, he basically ends up taking a lot of the blame but he still manages to make it through a lot of the game. i can imagine a kind of palau-like situation where he gives his place in the finals away for martin, that’d be kinda sweet and tragic.
tim is the funny one. i don’t think he’d be amazing at strategy, honestly he’s just here to become a tv superstar. and oh he does. he gets the most screentime out of everyone, and definitely a lot of confessional time. he brings most of the comedy, but dammit when he’s hurt, he’s hurt and you’re gonna hear what he has to say. i imagine his blindside elimination is one of the most emotional moments of the series.
melanie is also the funny one. also she has the “i’m a youtube superstar and i’m gonna try to hide it cause if they realize they’ll want me out” storyline that happens from time to time in the show. i think she’d be pretty good at the challenges, and she’d rival tim for the funniest confessionals of the season.
daisy would be a very explosive castaway. definitely one that can’t hide her feelings and is always stirring a bit of trouble in camp, getting people’s feathers ruffled up. oh the DRAMA she’d have with elias, that would be reality tv GOLD. and of course, maybe a bit of showmance with basira? basira herself would be a very intelligent player, maybe more of a pure strategist than a social player, but definitely a good, loyal ally to have.
you know when there are two people in a season with the same name, and one of them goes for a nickname or smth to differentiate? well, there are two sashas in this season, and not!sasha is like “damn that other girl, i want her out”, so they vote real sasha out quick and they’re like “ i’m sasha now, bitches!”.
michael would be an absolute wildcard. he just wants to sow some discord and chaos and be a little bit of a nuisance.
peter lukas gets sent to exile island. every. single. time.

Hi! Could you describe each Batfam member's (including Tiffany) strengths in the field? Ex, some are better fighters, or detectives, or strategists or prefer stakeouts etc?
Bruce Wayne
Is able to predict pretty accurately what his enemy is going to do so he can counter them already and take them
Quick thinker, able to figure out what happened from clues and deductions and can solve most things rather quickly
Dick Grayson
Better at fighting then at solving things
Let's his emotions get in the way for most things, so he isn't allowed to work aloen because he will make a mistake and regret it
Barbara Gordon
Prefers stakeouts, getting to know her opponent from a distance, before going in and getting them
Jason Todd
Doesn't care for the whole stakeout, detective stuff. He just wants to go in, get the job done, and leave.
Very strong fighter, knows when he is outmatched and is not afraid to take out his gun and use it when he doesn't think he can win in hand to hand combat
Cassandra Cain
The best at stealth missions and staying out of sight. She can easily take down people without them ever knowing what happened to them. She can also get in and out of places like it's nothing.
Tim Drake
Likes to work behind the scenes more then in front of it. Is aware that he isn't the best detective or fighter and is easily outfought. Is better at the technical stuff behind the scenes and prefers it.
Stephanie Brown
Really good at noticing small details. She pays attention to everything from body language to if there is dust in a certain area. She then easily asks the person why there story doesn't add up using the small details as evidence.
Luke Fox
Patience. He has the patience to deal with victims that can't stop crying, and he has the pateince to take his time to solve things the first time.
He also stays up with technology and is constantly updating and seeing what he can improve.
Kate Kane
While she isn't as strong as some of the other batfam, she is quicker then most. She is able to dodge them and take them out when they expose themselves to her.
Damian Wayne
Good at stealth based missions. Since he is smaller, he isn't good at strength based fighting, but he is good at outsmarting his opponent and using their own weight against themselves.
Tiffany Fox
Isn't afraid to take risks that could go wrong but the potential for it to go right is too much for her to risk. Basically risk vs reward.
Harper Row
Not afraid to fight dirty in order to win
Duke Thomas
Cares more about getting people to safety then his own safety. Wil risk his life just to save one or two innocents.
Uses the eliment of surprise (despite his highlighter yellow costume) to sneak up on his opponents. They will be fighting someone in front of them, and he comes up behind and takes them down
Helena Wayne
Good at being able to go into buildings, get the layout of it, blending in with whoever is there, and getting out. Basically undercover work because Selina taught her how to be sneaky and Bruce taught her how to find the little details. Selina and Bruce both taught her to fight.

MBTI® Private Practice Characters | ScreenRant
Shonda Rhimes is known for creating relatable yet fascinating characters that fans care about. Sure, sometimes she kills a few too many of them off, and sometimes the storylines on her TV shows veer off in pretty crazy directions. But for the most part, whether it's Grey's Anatomy, How To Get Away With Murder, or the Grey's spin-off Private Practice, she's brought forward a cast of characters who captivate and have great arcs throughout their time on the show.
RELATED: MBTI Of Beetlejuice Characters
Since these characters have rich personal and professional lives, let's look at the MBTIs of the main characters on Private Practice.
10 Sheldon Wallace: ISTJ
Tumblr media
Sheldon Wallace (Brian Benben) would be an ISTJ or "Responsible Realist." He's the most serious character on the show and as a psychiatrist, he has many ISTJ personality traits. He's "systematic" and "logical" and "reasonable."
RELATED: Which Hilarious Sitcom Dad Are You, Based On Your MBTI
Sheldon's personal life is often part of the story, as he is diagnosed with cancer in the sixth season, and in earlier seasons, he goes out with co-workers Violet and Charlotte. Sheldon is "reserved" but he is able to open up enough to discover true love with Miranda (Dianne Farr). The two end up together, and it's so nice to see Sheldon happy.
9 Amelia Shepherd: INTJ
Tumblr media
Caterina Scorsone plays the brilliant brain surgeon Amelia Shepherd on both Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice. The sister of the late McDreamy, she has a lot of family baggage and a history of addiction and alcoholism.
Amelia is an INTJ or "Conceptual Planner." She's "decisive" and "demanding." When Amelia gets something into her head, she's going to do it, and she also has the INTJ trait of being "private." Part of the reason Amelia struggles so much with her personal demons is that she really doesn't open up to other people.
8 Pete Wilder: ESFJ
Tumblr media
Tim Daly's character, Pete Wilder, and Violet Turner have a whirlwind romance. They're both sensitive and emotional types, even though Violet shows it more than Pete does. Sadly, as tends to happen on a Shondland series, Pete does pass away. He has a heart attack in the sixth and final season.
RELATED: MBTI® Of The Golden Girls Characters
Pete's MBTI would be ESFJ or "Supportive Contributor." ESFJs are said to "value family" and that's Pete, as he's a dedicated partner and a wonderful dad to their son, Lucas. He's "responsible" and often feels a personal connection with his patients. He works with alternative medicine at Oceanside Wellness.
7 Dell Parker: ISFJ
Tumblr media
Chris Lowell is the adorable Dell Parker, the Oceanside Wellness receptionist who has a dark past. He experienced mistreatment growing up and is extremely sensitive to the people around him.
His MBTI would be ISFJ or "Practical Helper" as he really does make it his mission to be there for others. This includes his wife Heather (Agnes Bruckner) and their daughter. Since Heather is an addict (and even loses her life because of it), Dell has to be the compassionate caregiver. He's "thoughtful of others" and "devoted."
6 Charlotte King: ENTJ
Tumblr media
KaDee Strickland's Private Practice character Charlotte King seems removed from the rest of the gang at first. She's a no-nonsense type of doctor who seems to put up walls and not want to get to know people.
Even when Charlotte goes through the hardest thing imaginable (her attack in the episode "Did You Hear What Happened To Charlotte King?"), she still struggles to be vulnerable and talk about feelings. Her MBTI would be ENTJ or "Decisive Strategist." She's a great leader as the hospital's Chief of Staff and creates Pacific Wellcare Center, which competes with Oceanside Wellness. She's "tough" and likes to "provide structure" and is also a "natural critic."
5 Cooper Freedman: ESTP
Tumblr media
Cooper Freedman (Paul Adelstein) is basically a big kid. He's a pediatrician who relates to his patients and has spent most of his adult life trying not to grow up. In spite of the times that he can be silly and immature, he's charming and kind, and he manages to catch the eye of his co-worker, super strong Charlotte King. Once the two characters start a relationship, it's really good for both of them and helps each of them grow. They end up living happily ever after with a family.
RELATED: MBTI® Of Neverending Story Characters
Cooper's MBTI would be ESTP or "Energetic Problem Solver." He's "outgoing" and "enthusiastic" and also quite the "easygoing" guy."
4 Violet Turner: INFP
Tumblr media
Amy Brenneman's Private Practice character, Violet Turner, is definitely the most sensitive of the bunch... so it makes sense that she's the therapist at Oceanside Wellness.
Violets an INFP or "Thoughtful Idealist." She sees the good in everyone, from patients to her best pal Cooper, and she's "virtuous" and has a "long-range vision." She's also "compassionate" and "curious." Sometimes Violet's job becomes dramatic and disturbing, like when her patient Katie literally attempts to take her baby out of her stomach while she's still pregnant. But she still believes in helping people and her job is very important to her.
3 Sam Bennett: ENTJ
Tumblr media
Sam Bennett (Taye Tiggs) used to be married to Naomi, and although fans do ship those two, he also dates Addison and they have a pretty complicated romance.
Sam's MBTI would be ENTJ or "Compassionate Facilitator." ENTJs are team players and that's definitely Sam. He's social and talkative and seems to enjoy being part of the group of doctors. ENTJs are also "verbal" and "people-oriented." He's a straight shooter who is always honest, even when he's talking to Naomi about his dating life and telling her that she seems envious of him.
2 Naomi Bennett: ESTJ
Tumblr media
Naomi Bennett (Audra McDonald) spends a lot of time on the show pretending that she's not still madly in love with her ex-husband Sam. Besides that, she's hilarious, sweet, a great mom to their teenage daughter Maya, and Addison's best friend.
RELATED: MBTI Of Underworld Characters
Naomi is an ESTJ or "Efficient Organizer." She helped found the practice and she works with infertility and is a reproductive endocrinologist. In her professional life, she's "structured" and "practical." In her personal life, she's "outspoken" and "dependable."
1 Addison Montgomery: ENTP
Tumblr media
Kate Walsh is the star of Private Practice. When Addison Montgomery relocates to California and gets a job at Oceanside Wellness, she has to be a team player and also look out for what she wants out of life.
Addison is a brilliant neonatal surgeon who sounds like the most like an ENTP or "Enterprising Explorer." ENTPs are "often innovative in their way of thinking" which applies to her decision to move to California and do something different, working in private practice instead of a hospital setting. She will "take initiative" and is also "challenging."

A Letter To Senator Mark Warner (D)
Tumblr media
Today, I wrote Senator Mark Warner (D)
Senator Warner:
I was listening to a podcast on my drive home today, Pod Save America, featuring a couple of President Obama's former staffers. They have an amazing grip on what's going on, and a quote came up that I feel is relevant to your decision to vote for Rex Tillerson for Secretary of State:
"If you're a Democrat who votes for Republicans, you're not a Democrat."
I completely agree.
As your constituent, I can't stress enough that if there ever were a time to reach across the aisle, it has to be beyond obvious that now is not that time.
I can't imagine what it's like to be in your shoes, or to predict your mindset. What is it like to be someone who can shrug off the protests of millions? Those people are your constituents - they are showing up in hopes of your ability to represent them.
This isn't business as usual. This isn't a Bush administration that we can shrug off and say "oh well, maybe next time."
The words "Constitutional Crisis" have been uttered cautiously & preemptively on the news - please understand that your vote for Tillerson nudges the United States of America closer to that reality.
Thank you for your time.
Everyday since Nov 9 & January 20 has been a ideological & emotional roller coaster. I am a resistor. I’m resisting, staying informed, calling my representatives, connecting with an Indivisible group... yet every time I watch the news, I am  literally crushed inside from disappointment from our Democratic leaders. One after another, they keep voting for Donald Trump’s cabinet picks.
Why are Democrats voting for Republicans? It’s a stupid question, but I have to ask it. I know one of Hillary Clinton’s ideals was her ability to reach across the aisle. This is very clearly not an appropriate time to do that.
If the voters are able to see that, why are Democratic leaders blind to it?
I’m sorry if I sound stupid or politically ignorant... but when I experience disappointment & a disheartening, I tend to go back to the basics & question my level of wisdom. These folks are of an older generation - they should exemplify a greater wisdom. Right? Except GOP.
It goes without saying that older generation Republicans are playing every legislation, decision, & executive order to the highest tune of corruption.
What’s their excuse? Mitch McConnell is a great strategist - he’s single-handedly taken over the government with obstructionism. Does that speak to wisdom though? I think it speaks to power hunger & greed. Personally, I think Mitch McConnell and his band of merry idiots will benefit financially from the various monies being siphoned from hither and yon. That is only my speculation though. Kudos for me if I am right ;)
I’m blown away by Democratic leaders like Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, who faithfully voted NO to all of Donald Trump’s cabinet picks. She deserves gratitude from every Democrat, and her lead should be an example. That goes for Maxine Waters & Barbara Lee too. I admire Elizabeth Warren, her passion & strength are coming back to the forefront, but after voting Ben Carson though? God help us.
And the millions who have shown up to protest, resist, & stand up for democracy, equality, and the Constitution... it almost seems like Democratic leaders are shrugging it off, except for a key few, for which I’m grateful.
It’s obvious our lawmakers need to be more like those protesters. A lot of Dem Congress members are saying great things, but their outward approach is of exhaustion & stagnation. We need the lawmakers to be like Elizabeth Warren, Tim Kaine, Kirsten Gillibrand, Maxine Waters, & Barbara Lee. These people are risk takers - they are aggressive, and their words & actions need to be a standard in going forward.
I’m reluctant to say it, but the democrats need to strategize - they literally need to scare & overwhelm the GOP in the same way the GOP has been freaking out American citizens. The obvious solutions are unavailable, but among the best of our Democratic leaders are lawyers who know lawyers who know lawyers who know lawyers.
With those resources, they could literally grind everything to a halt; and so they should. They’d even do it for free - anyone see those lawyers showing up at airports to help detained Muslims the other day? No charge.
I’m tired of hearing Democratic leaders express fear of “undermining democracy” Come on, the most highly decorated member of the military being demoted to make way for a white supremacist?
Democracy being undermined is in your face.
For all of the aggression & political destruction that’s being committed by the GOP, the Democrats need to literally match & exceed that aggression. It’s time for Dems to go all in, because it’s now or never. If they don’t passionately, aggressively & strategically approach to their leadership as they regroup the Democratic Party, it’s possible we could witness the end of democracy in America.
God be with us, God heal us & strengthen us – and give us Peace.

How Justin Trudeau survived
New Post has been published on https://thebiafrastar.com/how-justin-trudeau-survived/
How Justin Trudeau survived
He’ll now lead a minority government that will have to cut deals to advance any of its priorities — a fate his late father, Pierre Trudeau, also endured in the 1970s. Such governments normally last about two years. Some deals — like the new U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement — will be winnable. Some dynamics — like dealing with the conservative Western reaches of Canada — will be difficult.
Trudeau became the first Canadian leader in decades to lose the popular vote and win the election. He did it with a far more efficient vote distribution that pulled in scores more seats in Ontario, while Conservatives ran up the score in the less-populous west.
It could have been far worse for Trudeau.
After winning election on a wave of millennial support in 2015, Trudeau sailed through the first part of his term. He legalized marijuana and euthanasia, introduced a carbon tax and cut middle-class taxes while employment soared to historic highs. His status as a global progressive rock star scared off his domestic rivals, who struggled to find opponents who might unseat him: Several prominent Conservatives and New Democrats either retired from politics or passed on leadership campaigns, as the common wisdom in Canada had Trudeau as a slam-dunk for a second term.
But two events sent his numbers sinking.
First was a trip to India marred by an embarrassing security gaffe and a passion for traditional outfits that drew mockery and criticism. Second was a scandal in which he and members of his entourage repeatedly pressed the country’s attorney general to drop corruption charges on a Montreal engineering company.
Trudeau’s poll numbers never fully recovered from that scandal early this year. Then came September — and a Time Magazine bombshell showing him in brownface two decades ago, followed by more photos and videos of Trudeau in racist makeup.
‘This is unbelievable’
Trudeau wasn’t blindsided; in fact, Liberals knew the story was coming two weeks in advance. They had been hearing from contacts in Vancouver that TIME Magazine was asking around about old photographs of Trudeau.
One party official said they knew that when it landed it would break any campaign momentum and smother Trudeau in scandal for several days — and perhaps even fatally damage his campaign.
In the frenzy of staff calls leading up to the bomb drop, Trudeau made clear he would apologize profusely, and repeatedly.
Still, allies were deeply disappointed.
Green Party Leader Elizabeth May was so taken aback by the Trudeau photos that she spent several minutes of an interview with POLITICO that night with her laptop on, waiting for the prime minister to deliver his initial apology on board his campaign plane.
“I actually am fond of him, but this is unbelievable,” she said in the living room of the Vancouver home of her husband, Green Party MP candidate John Kidder.
But the controversy dissipated almost as quickly as it had appeared — particularly in electorally influential Quebec — seemingly doing little to dent Liberals’ standing in public opinion polls.
The party official opined that one reason the scandal showed no obvious effect on Trudeau’s poll numbers was that few Canadians believe he’s actually a racist — Trudeau’s track record includes support for drastically increased immigration levels and promoting numerous visible minorities to high-level Cabinet positions.
Still, the Liberals’ early-campaign strategy of digging up dirt on Conservatives via old social media posts “was thrown out the window,” Conservative MP Erin O’Toole said. “It was impossible for them to do that because these stories really put the Liberals on [the] defensive, and the prime minister’s sort of authenticity was being questioned.”
With a major campaign tactic sidelined, O’Toole said, Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer was better able to deliver his party’s’ message without having to beat back those sorts of attacks on a daily basis.
Tying Scheer to Harper
Trudeau’s team had decided early on, however, not to focus on Scheer, but on more divisive conservative figures, like formerConservative Prime Minister Stephen Harper. The Liberal team noted that Scheer stirred no passion among the voters critical to their reelection. In particular, progressives and suburban swing voters, all vital to the Liberal coalition in 2015, lacked strong impressions of Scheer, a barely known, blandly inoffensive rival.
Their incessant digs at Harper, their slogan, “ Choose Forward” and Trudeau’s constant pleas for voters to look ahead, not backward, were based on a simple realization that they needed a better foil than Scheer.
Liberals said Scheer erred in running an aggressively partisan campaign, à la Harper. “Canadians rejected [Harper] in 2015 — overwhelmingly,” said one high-level Liberal staffer.
Scheer’s platform, released late in the campaign, confirmed plans for budget cuts, allowing Liberals to accelerate their comparisons to the unpopular budget-cutting premier of Ontario, Doug Ford.
“At the beginning of the campaign [Scheer] was still relatively unknown,” Liberal strategist Amanda Alvaro notes. “There wasn’t a lot of recall. But if you used names like ‘Harper,’ and ‘Ford,’ there was an emotional reaction.”
The strategy “was a bit of going back to the last thing Canadians recalled in terms of what a Conservative government looked like. The cuts, the austerity. Then [we added] something current with Ford — how services were disappearing in Ontario,” she said.
Obama helped — and so did Trump
American politicians stir passions in Canada, too — and Trudeau’s Liberals worked hard to pull U.S. politics into their campaign narrative.
When Obama tweeted his support for Trudeau on Oct. 18 — an endorsement facilitated by former White House strategist David Axelrod — it prompted cheers in the Liberal Party war room in downtown Ottawa. Party staffers weren’t just celebrating an endorsement — they were celebrating a contrast they’d spent months trying to set up.
In the Liberal campaign script, they were defenders of the small-L liberal international order, heirs to the popular Democratic U.S. president. Conservative rivals, in the Trudeau narrative, were a local branch-plant in the global conservative movement increasingly typified by a nationalist U.S. president Canadians don’t like nearly as much as Obama: Donald Trump.
Senior Trudeau cabinet members subtweeted Trump. Trudeau scolded recent U.S. abortion laws during a visit by Vice President Mike Pence.
One senior Liberal said, perhaps partly in jest, that all he wanted after the Obama endorsement was for Trump to come out and endorse Scheer.
In the end, Trump said almost nothing about Canada’s election, save for answering a reporter question about Trudeau’s blackface scandal.
(Late Monday night, Trump tweeted his congratulations to Trudeau.)
Any edge the Conservatives had may have slipped away during the final days of the campaign.
Former Tory adviser Tim Powers said the early call for Trudeau Monday night wasn’t a surprise. Trudeau campaigned well during the last week on stump, he said, and the Conservatives’ handling of a Globe and Mail report that their party had hired a political consulting firm to disparage the populist People’s Party of Canada didn’t help their cause the weekend before Canadians cast their ballots.
What comes next
In the end, Trudeau has outdone his father. His father, a legendary four-term prime minister, eked out a two-seat squeaker in his second term. The son will have a more comfortable cushion of several dozen seats.
The outcome reflects voter disenchantment with Canada’s two major parties. In a rare phenomenon, the Conservatives and Liberals remained mired in the low 30s, stuck in a statistical tie through the campaign, right up to Monday’s vote. The only dramatic movement came in Quebec, where, true to form, the province’s fickle voters turned suddenly and ultimately gave the separatist Bloc Quebecois major gains in Parliament, severely denting one of the firewalls Trudeau had been counting on.
The parliamentary configuration might make it relatively easy for Trudeau to govern despite not holding a majority. That’s because his Liberals hold so many seats that they can win any vote in the House of Commons with support from just one of the three main opposition parties.
Still, Western Canada is a wasteland for the next government, with the country deeply divided. A progressive group of parties that favor carbon pricing are resolutely dominant, and the oil-producing conservative West mostly powerless at the federal level. That split was epitomized by the defeat of a towering figure in Canadian politics, Ralph Goodale, who was first elected in 1974 and was the last Liberal standing in Saskatchewan. He lost, and the governing party has no representation left in the province.

Standing Out From the Crowd: Insights From 12 Industry Leaders
It’s time for B2B content marketers to stand out. You know it. I know it. We all know it.  But capturing attention in a crowded content room is hard to do, especially when content creation has seen the biggest uptick in spending among your fellow B2B content marketers. You can’t be subtle. You can’t be boring. But you also can’t be obnoxious; relevance and resonance are paramount. You have to accept and adapt to what your audience needs and wants at any given moment. It takes speed, flexibility, bold ideas, fearlessness, and more. Where do you start? How about starting with a little inspiration and insight from industry leaders? Below we have insights and advice from 12 marketing and customer experience leaders on how to stand out from the crowd and create content your audience can’t ignore.
12 Attention-Grabbing Tips from B2B Marketing Experts
1. Eliminate Gobbledygook
“Always remember that you are communicating to people. Eliminate innovative, cutting-edge, mission-critical, best-of-breed gobbledygook from your writing. Using the same inane language as everybody else ensures you are lost in the crowd.” - David Meerman Scott, Keynote Speaker and Bestselling Author, Freshspot Marketing Follow David on Twitter or LinkedIn.
2. Show How You’re Different
“Show don’t tell. In order to create an engaging user experience on social platforms, you need to be able to show users something from their perspective not yours. You need to be able to reach into their heart, put your fingers around it, and feel the pulse beat. And video, when done right, can do just that.” - Beverly Jackson, Vice President Social Portfolio Strategy, MGM Resorts International Follow Beverly on Twitter or LinkedIn. For more insight from Beverly, read our complete interview with her.
3. Take a Stand
“Great content isn’t about platitudes. It’s about provocation. Incitement. Taking a stand and making your audience think in a new way. Giving the counter-argument to conventional wisdom. When we do that, we advance the dialogue, rather than diminish it.” - Peter Isaacson, Chief Marketing Officer, Demandbase Follow Peter on Twitter or LinkedIn.
4. Ignore Your Competitors
“Marketers need to stop placing so much emphasis on catching up or edging out their direct competitors. Customers don’t compare you to your competitors anymore—they compare you to other positive experiences they’ve had. If you keep chasing what your competitors are doing, you’re always a step behind. That’s a good way to go out of business because you’re just doing what someone else is already doing.” - Shep Hyken, Chief Amazement Officer, Shepard Presentations, LLC Follow Shep on Twitter or LinkedIn. To hear more advice from Shep on how to wow your audience, read our full conversation with him on convenience and the customer experience.
5. Empower Others
“Celebrating success and championing internal entrepreneurship is key: Great ideas can come from anywhere. We are limited only by the constraints we inflict on our vision. So I try to make sure everybody with an idea they think has potential feels they can bring it to my doorstep. That doesn’t mean every idea gets the green light, but it does mean that every idea is heard.” - Kirsten Allegri Williams, Chief Marketing Officer, SAP SuccessFactors Follow Kirsten on Twitter or LinkedIn. And don’t forget to read our full interview with her to learn about her background and tricks to success.
6. Be Human
“Comedy is the most powerful way to humanize a brand because it demonstrates empathy. Let’s face it, a lot of true comedy comes from pain. So, when we can come out and touch on a customer pain point, we show them that we understand their point of view. When we do something that is self-deprecating, when we look vulnerable, and when we let our guard down a little bit that’s when we make a connection.” - Tim Washer, Emcee and Keynote Speaker, Ridiculous Media Hear the rest of Tim’s comedy plus marketing tips by reading our full conversation. And while you’re at it, follow him on Twitter and LinkedIn.
7. Partner with Influencers
“Year over year, we’ve seen consumer trust of brands decreasing, and people turning to seemingly more objective sources when making buying decisions: peers, 3rd party review sites, analysts, etc. Partnering with an influencer allows you to highlight your brand’s own existing narrative in a new way, so that you can reinforce the proof points you really want your customers to know.” - Whitney Magnuson, Senior Director of Enterprise Social Media, Hilton Follow Whitney on LinkedIn and don’t forget to read the rest of her B2B influencer marketing tips with our complete interview.
8. Put the Story First
“Create a structure for creating content that always begins with a story your reader can identify with and uses this moment to bridge their point of view with your brand’s unique selling point. Many marketers still talk about their products and services in terms of what they can do for their audience rather than what the audience cares about, why that’s important and how their solution can help solve the problem. Stories have the power to engage prospects with an emotional hook that endears them to a brand more successfully than standard marketing copy.” - Heather Pemberton Levy, Vice President of Content Marketing, Gartner For more content marketing advice from Heather, follow her on Twitter or LinkedIn or read our conversation with her.
9. Slow It Down
“It’s important to slow down our marketing to get the basics right. Like developing a documented content strategy. Like doing the required research. Like developing robust, non-one-dimensional Flat Stanley buyer personas. Like articulating your bigger story. Like investing in quality: excellent writing (and editing) and storytelling.” - Ann Handley, Chief Content Officer, MarketingProfs Want more genius advice from Ann? Read our interview with her or give her a follow on Twitter and LinkedIn.
10. Do Your Research
“We have the people, the data, and the tools to create engaging content at scale, yet we often jumpstart the process of creating content without the required thoughtfulness on the initial critical steps. It is essential to be clear which audiences we are targeting and subsequently to define clear goals for the message we are creating. To this day, most brands need to improve at this stage, otherwise the best content marketer in the world cannot create an effective piece of engaging content.” - Peter Krmpotic, Director of Product for Einstein, Salesforce Hear more from Peter by following him on LinkedIn or Twitter, or by reading (you guessed it) our interview with him on creating a steady content supply chain.
11. Don’t Be a People Pleaser
“We want customers to feel a part of the brand. We want them to feel like the brand belongs to them. But then too often we send out ‘one size fits most’ messages… and wonder why we don’t get that sense of belonging that’s a hallmark of great brands. Your brand is not for everyone. It isn’t. It’s for the people who want something you can help them get, who value the same things you do, and who see the world the same way you do. And that’s not everyone. Full stop.” - Tamsen Webster, Founder and Chief Message Strategist, Find the Red Thread Follow Tamsen on LinkedIn or Twitter for more poignant advice. Or, read our interview with her for tips on how to drive change in marketing.
12. Experiment More
“Most of our content fails. Like, over 90% of it. And that’s not at all uncommon in the content marketing world. If everyone knew the exact ingredients to a “viral” content piece, that’s all anyone would produce. But we don’t know. Pieces I think will do really well, more-often-than-not sink without a trace, and pieces that seem like throwaways can take off because they’ve tapped into some pent-up need in the marketplace of ideas.” - J.P. Medved, Content Strategist and Novelist Learn about the different experimenting J.P. has done by reading our interview with him. Give him a follow on LinkedIn for more insight and updates on his next novel.
Not the Norm, and Proud Of It
Rarely does anyone want the same old, same old. So, don’t give your audience more of the same. Use the advice above to your advantage and break the norm, separate yourself from the pack, try something new, or reiterate on a great idea. The more you can break the mold, the more you’ll stand out amongst the crowd.
