Headcanon about Antari bloodtype
The type of blood a person has, is determined by the presence or absence of certain antigens.
Antigens are substances that, if foreign to the body trigger an immune response.
There are over 600 different antigens across more than 36 blood group systems that may be present or absent on our red blood cells.
You have a ‘rare’ blood type if your blood is missing an antigen which is common to most, or if it has an antigen which most don’t have.
Plasma contains antibodies which fight infections and antigens of the same type.
The 4 main types of blood are determined by the presence or absence of two antigens, A and B, on the surface of the red blood cells. This classification is done by the A,B,O blood group system.
The bloodtype A has the A antigen on the surface of it's red blood cells and the B antibody in it's plasma.
The bloodtype B has the B antigen on the surface of it's red blood cells and the A antibody in it's plasma.
The bloodtype AB has both the A and B antigens on the surface of it's red blood cells and neither A or B antibodies in it's plasma.
The bloodtype O has neither A or B antigens on the surface of it's red blood cells, but both the A and B antibodies in it's plasma.
The second most important classification after the A,B,O blood group system is the Rhesus blood group system, with over 50 antigens.
One of these Rh antigens is the Rh D antigen, the presence of which determines a Rh positive bloodtype and the absence of which determines a Rh negative bloodtype.
The 8 most common bloodtypes are as follows : A+, A-, B+, B-, O+, O-, AB+, AB-.
RhNull blood on the other hand has none of the Rh antigens. It is the result of certain mutations.
It is extremely rare, with fewer than 50 individuals known to have RhNull blood in the 50 years after it's discovery, and only 9 active donors.
I associated it with Antari based on this quote:
"He was, after all, Antari. And Antari could speak to blood. To life. To magic itself. The first and final element, the one that lived in all and was of none."
RhNull blood can be donated to anybody, especially useful to people with rare Rh antigens, following only the A,B,O blood group system donation rules and that's why the term Golden Blood is used for it. On the other hand, people with this blood type cannot receive transfusions from anybody but other people with the RhNull bloodtype, following the same donation rules.
Magic is not hereditary, so I like to assume that after developing Antari magic they lose the Rh antigens through mutation.
And since I couldn't help myself, I assigned every character I kept track of, a bloodtype.
Most of the bloodtypes I assigned were based on my own interpretrations, but I did my best to mind the rules by which they are inherited.

Rating: G Fandom: Shades of Magic Cinderella AU based on the 1970's movie Tři oříšky pro Popelku/Drei Haselnüsse für Aschenbrödel/Three wishes for Cinderella and the original Grimm's brothers fairytale Aschenputtel/Cinderella  ~✾~ Ön vejr tök... The story goes...
In a SoM / Cinderella story Holland has to be Cinderella, of course! A big part of the cast makes an appearance in various roles. And in true fairytale fashion, there will be villains, magic and a big happy end. ~✾~
Also - Happy Birthday Holland! I'm pretty sure Holland never got to experience an actual good birthday, so I wanted to post something with a happy end for the occasion.

'Is this where you tell me to be safe?' 'Oh,' said the priest, 'I think the time for that is gone.'
Tieren is such an interesting mentor figure in the best way. He’s been the primary figure who has been consistently interested in Kell’s well-being throughout the books. And that he is now saying ‘we’re past that at this point’ is almost this last point of permission for Kell, the permission got first from Rhy and has now just got from Maxim and Emira, to do what he needs to do.
And because Tieren has been such a stauch supporter of Kell this has so much more weight than if he’d been pushing Kell into heroics.

I'm at work but on break rn taking the opportunity to read a tad more of ACOL and I just gotta say I really freaking love Tieren!! He's like your classic wise priest but I guess he also qualifies as a wizard since he can do magic. The opening scene of section eight though with him scrying idrk there's just something about it. Plus he's not afraid to sass anyone or tell them what's what. I love this little old man!! He's just so cool!!

Something was dripping.
The sound cut through the sweetly soft darkness that Alucard Emery had been wrapped in. It was a spell, the darkness, wearing off with every drip.
He didn’t want to leave that blanket of velvet around his mind, and he tried to sink back, to grab onto it with hands that barely twitched against some kind of rough constriction around his wrists, as he felt himself shifting away from that safe place towards wakefulness.
No, no, no. He didn't want to wake up - if he woke up, he might have to deal with the pounding headache behind his temples, the twist of nausea that unsettled his stomach, the way the world had spun off kilter and he might slide right off the edge to a whole new hell.
Rhy.
He groaned, the face of the man he loved burned behind his eyelids, frozen over with Kell’s command, solid and unchanging as stone. No, let him sleep, he didn’t want to remember Rhy that way. If he stayed in the darkness, maybe it would all have been a dream.
He couldn’t escape it. Sleep escaped him, drew further and further away, left the pounding pain in his head behind. He was already in hell. Not the dank hold of the ship, no, he felt no rocking, smelled no human waste and misery. He wasn’t shivering and bruised and broken.
Still, he felt like he’d wake up with the manacles back around his wrists and his Rhy, his prince, Rhy would never know he hadn’t wanted to go he wanted to be with him he wanted, he loved-
He was not in that hell, but in this fresh one. Luc’s eyes cracked open, winced at the pain brought on by only candlelight and the softly lit globes that lined the walls, closed again. Someone murmured something nearby.
He’d come back to Rhy, with all his love, and it hadn’t been enough to hold off the attack. They had already burned down the Sanctuary and swarmed a mass of faceless armor into the streets, bodies that cut and killed like machines made of magic and skin. It was an army of demons led by the white wolves that controlled Kell to hurt Rhy, and there was nothing he could do to keep the streets from running red.
Hell had been the face of the woman who had smiled at him when they hit him, had looked down at him with wide blue eyes in a pale white face, eyes that burned as she said, I remember your voice, Alucard Emery, although I must say you've changed a bit. I know what you sound like crying out for him. I used to love to listen to you - my brother and I both.
He’d never seen her before, he was sure of it. He’d have remembered evil like that.
He groaned, head in a vise of pain, trying to remember past a throb that wouldn’t let him think . Had Rhy made it out before they broke down the door, when Luc was on all fours on the ground, scrabbling to pull one last bit of magic before they buried him? No, he’d been frozen.
Had that scowling black-clad slip of a girl that followed Rhy everywhere since Kell had gone missing spirited him away in time? No… no, she wasn’t there. Rhy had sent her for Tieren Serense.
Luc had done everything he could, but if there was any one truth in Alucard Emery’s life, it was that ‘doing his best’ rarely worked out for him, especially when it really mattered. When it mattered, he ended up hit over the head and dumped somewhere in chains.
Were they chains? He frowned, slumping forward, trying to force his eyes open again to look down. Was this another prison ship? He could feel the cold metal around his wrists, and when he tried to move them they were held and he heard the familiar soft rattle.
He had promised himself he would never go in chains again.
But Alucard Emery’s promises had never been more than window-dressing over his betrayals.

This post is just me drawing parallels between events Kell Maresh and Kosika experienced.
First of all, both of them had value placed on their magic, primarily.
Kell Maresh's biological parents have offered him, or rather his magical prowess, in exchange to the Arnesian Crown for the removal of his mother's limiters, absolution for the crimes she committed and a sum of money.
Kosika's mother attempted to trade in her daughter, or more precisely her daughter's potential magical ability, for a sum of money, to three unspecified men.
After her daughter's status as an Antari was uncovered, she attempted to gain money from the Vir for it, but she was refused this.
Next there's the matter of both of them choosing to forgo their life before the one they were given.
A charm meant to erase the memories that preceded Kell's life as a prince and as an Antari was placed on him, the moment he was bought. Later on, he chose to discard those memories, to discard his old life, even when given opportunities to remember.
Kell figured out what the mark meant when he was 12 years old, and yet he never sought to see it undone.
The queen provided Kell with the name he bore before his adoption, and he refused to acknowledge it.
Kosika chose to forget who she was before she was designated as queen and as an Antari.
They both place more value on the label of Antari, and the labels and privileges that succeeded it, rather than the self they had once.
Kell and Kosika also both murdered the people that threatened the life of the one they took on as a sibling.
The members of the rebel group that kidnapped prince Rhy, the one person Kell prized most, the one who he thought of and still thinks of as a brother, were murdered by him.
He killed Astrid Dane for the possession and subsequent killing of his brother.
Kosika murdered the group of men she was sold to, when they injured Lark, a person whom she views as a sibling.
Consequently they both healed the fatal injuries their siblings sustained.
They both despise socialising with other people and make an effort to avoid social gatherings, being seemingly unapproachable.
They were both guided by someone else, at the start. Kell by the Aven Essen of Red London, Tieren Serense, and Kosika initially by the Vir, specifically Vir Serak, and later by the supposed spirit of Holland Vosijik.
They both had no one they regarded as a parental figure in their lives.
They're both regarded with awe and respect for supposedly keeping their respective worlds prosperous, but also with fear.
They both attempted to use a blood command, the same blood command, for something it wasn't meant to do.
Kell attempted to unsuccessfully heal an old dog, the first time he'd encountered the blood command for healing. He tried to reverse aging.
Kosika attempted to heal a multitude of plants, tried to reverse their withering, their aging, falling ill as a consequence.
They both came across a token from Black London, specifically a black stone, by doing things in secret, and they both brought an entity to their respective Londons as a result of it.
They both escape their life in the palace as often as they can, using hidden blood sigils.
Kell looked up to Holland, respected him and identified with him, and now so does Kosika.
And lastly, Kell wore and still wears the magic coat, the one with the unknown number of sides. He exchanges one side for another, every time his view about himself and his purposes change.
Kosika wears a cape during the blood tithes, and during the times she views herself as the queen whose purpose is that of bringing magic to White London. She switches it out for Holland's coat at the end of the book, when her methods alter.
The coats seem to represent separate facets of their identities.
Ultimately, even with this multitude of similarities between them, I think they will end up having different journeys, realisations, will end up making different choices, and will develop their own distinct selves by the end of the trilogy.
