Notes: I’m no ff writer, but in the past couple of days @slytherinslut0 kept taking about him and so I went on the internet and did the only sane thing I had to do: search any piece of information about the actor. And ever since I discovered that Lorenzo Zurzolo is not only Italian, but from ROME, I can’t stop thing about him. I need to let out those thoughts of mine.

Now, you don’t understand. ROMAN GUYS LOVE ON ANOTHER LEVEL. Like this is very personal and subjective maybe BUT, in humble opinion, they become absolutely and utterly taken by you. It’s wonderful. Like maybe I am idolizing, but let’s take my bf as an example, Roman guy ™️, he loves like no one else. Then, girls from Lazio will probably throw tomatoes at me, but no one can stop me right now.

So yeah, you might not be used to but he will ask you to be his girlfriend in a very little time (for me it was the day of my first date, but again, very personal)

Why should he wait? He likes you and that’s all that matters.

After that: you got him in a chokehold.

He will walk you to class. Every. Single. Day.

Will do absolutely anything just to spent more time with you.

He might be a little shy to start using “pet names”

Maybe he will start with a simple “amò” (short version of “love”), which is romantic, but not strictly, I also use it with my girl friends (and a more corrupted version is “amio”, but I use it only as a joke, but there are girls who actually use it and no shame on that)

Many guys usually refer to their girlfriends as “la mia tipa” (which I don’t like), and he will also do that at first, but once he gets comfortable he will always call you “la mia ragazza” (even in front of his friends)

And I have to advise you on that, he will tell you that infamous “ti amo” pretty soon too.

Again: no time to die (is this an actual English saying or am I just make it up right now?boh)

You two are watching the sunset, when you notice that he’s not looking at the sky anymore but at you

A couple of minutes pass by and you ask “what is it?”

With those big beautiful eyes and that smirk of his, he will look at you and just say “nothing amore, ti amo”

He won’t expect for you to say it back

You can wait as long as you like for telling it back, there’s no rush, no pressure to say it back

Your moroso (usually adults use this term but for me it’s cute) just wanted to let you know that he cares about you.

He will literally say “because it felt right, why should I wait?”

As I already stated, he is so kind with you and with some time he will absolutely let you know that his love language is touch.

Scusami la pignoleria, ma "il 22% degli italiani vogliono il ponte sullo stretto e il 18% di questi abita al nord" implicherebbe che il restante 82% che vuole il ponte abita al sud. Penso che l'OP intendesse che mentre il 22% lo vuole, il 18% lo vuole E vive al nord ma non avendo i dati non so se è effettivamente così. Scusa di nuovo ma mi sta a cuore che i dati presentati siano giusti (sto ancora all'ambasciatore israeliano che dice tre volte meno morti civili quando COI SUOI NUMERI è un sesto)

Ok ci sono, ho dovuto recuperare la puntata sul ponte di Messina dell'Agorà (16 febbraio, la trovate su raiplay) per vedere se effettivamente vengono citate e magari spiegate le percentuali in questione, perché pure io avevo il dubbio "ma si parla del 18% sulla percentuale del 22, o del 18% su 100?"

Ti posso dire che nella puntata il 22% è confermato (e tbh lo sapevo già perché ho visto questo screen girare)

il 18% non viene mai citato, ma si vede S4lvini in parlamento che parla di come questo ponte porterà beneficio a tutta Italia, e cito le sue testuali parole "in primis alla mia Lombardia".

Però 18% è una percentuale che non sembra buttata a caso, dove l'ha presa? Ebbene ho trovato >questo<, ed è da qui che esce il 18% in questione, però problema 1. l'OP ha erroneamente preso la percentuale del Lazio, quella della Lombardia è del 27%, problema 2. non si parla di consensi, ma appunto, come diceva S4lvini, di quanto ne beneficerà il pil di questa o quella regione (percentuali legate al contributo sui redditi delle famiglie nello specifico), che è una cosa diversa.

Perciò il post è fuorviante, lascia intendere che si parla di consensi dei singoli cittadini (poi magari 'sto 18% l'ha preso altrove, io davo per scontato l'avessero detto all'Agorà, sbagliavo, vado ad eliminare il post per correttezza), ma in realtà l'OP doveva specificare che questo 22% di consensi c'è anche perché ci sono regioni come la Lombardia e il Lazio che ne beneficeranno molto di più di Sicilia e Calabria che sono le dirette interessate. E quindi sì, il ponte è per ovvi motivi voluto più dal nord, però l'OP ha usato le percentuali fornite totalmente a caso.

Disclaimer: I would like to start this post by saying that I do not live in Nemi. That means that 1) I cannot provide the same amount of geographical or folkloric detailed knowledge a nemese would and 2) I am not providing any personal information. Secondly, I have used Italian resources only - more specifically, those I've found on the official website of the Comune [= town, Italian] of Nemi, among the many - as there are way more resources in my native language. I will, so, provide both Italian and translated versions of names and the like. Lastly, I want to specify that I have already posted this blog elsewhere: I will not be changing anything if not mistakes I might run into while re-reading it.

This being said, enjoy!

Nemi: the city of Diana

Introduction

I can't really use the same introduction I had used when I had first written this blog. This is for two reasons: first off, I had it written for a weekly challenge on an online community; secondly, my views and beliefs have profoundly changed ever since. When I had typed the first few words, I thought I belonged with the Celtic gods. Now, after a long time of consideration, I know I belong with the Roman ones. I like to think of this post as the first step that led me to choose Roman polytheism.

And now that you know the place that this post holds in my heart, you can also imagine why, of all posts, I have decided to repost this first.

The myth of the foundation of Rome is very popular in Lazio, the twins Romulus and Remus being protagonists of said event and their mother being Rea/Rhea Silvia. The latter, is said to have been a priestess and/or devotee of Vesta, and this goddess' cult is said to have been one of the key elements of Nemi: that's the reason why some modern theories suggest that this town is where Rome first originated - perhaps, due to its closeness to the supposed location of Alba Longa, mythical hometown of Rhea Silvia.

Nemi

Nemi is located in Lazio, a region of central-western Italy, and its territory is part of the Parco Regionale Suburbano dei Castelli Romani [= Regional Suburban Park of Castelli Romani, Italian]. Built over a lake of volcanic origin, this town is the smallest out of all of the ones in the Castelli Romani [= group of cities near Rome, whose history is closely tied to that of the capital]. In the pre-Roman era, the town was supposedly part of Aricia - a nearby Latin city - which, mythologically-talking, was founded by Theseus' son: Hippolytus. It is probably during this period that the temple of Diana Nemorensis was built, leading some historians to believe that Nemi is the place where the cult of this goddesss first started. The sanctuary reached its pitch of popularity with the Romans.

Furthermore, there used to be two ships, either commissioned by Tiberius or Caligula, possibly dedicated to Diana and destined to parties - a footnote is necessary: the most accredited theory suggests that the ships were indeed commissioned by Caligula, but they were dedicated to the Egyptian goddess Isis. Unfortunately, not only did these ships sink and it took two expeditions - one in the 15th century, that failed, and one in the first half of the 20th century, which was successful - to retrieve them, but they also caught fire little after in the museum that used to host them.

The name of the city itself seems to be tied to Diana: Nemi is in fact a derivative of the Latin word "nemus" [= wood, Latin]. Nemi's wood that was sacred to Diana, and it was attributed to her through the title of "nemus Dianae" [= wood of Diana, Latin]. Two more derivatives of the word "nemus", that seem to highlight the deep bond between the goddess and the town, are the epithet contained in "Diana Nemorensis" [= Diana of the wood] and the name of the festival of "Nemoralia" - a celebration that took place on the 15th of August to honour Diana herself.

This being said, the connection between Diana and Nemi is, to say the least, very explicit.

Il bosco - The wood

Contrarily to what the title might state, this paragraph will not be focusing on the wood itself. Rather, it'll focus on what used to happen in the wood. It is said that there was to be a man who used to merge mystery and legend, intertwining history and myths at the same time. I am talking about the figure of the rex nemorensis [= king of the wood]. Its existence finds a direct connection to that of the rex of Rome, whose main role was that of main administrator in the archaic Roman religion, and was later on replaced by the pontifex maximus. It is still unknown whether he is an historically certified figure or if he was - and is - simply a part of the local folklore. There is a legend, however, that explains how the rex nemorensis was "chosen". For this myth/ancient tradition seems to have no correspondences whatsoever in Roman or, more broadly, Greek theology/mythology, I advice reading this paragraph as if it was talking about a story and nothing more: I am unsure of its historical reliability myself, not to talk about the fact that the official cerimony is still unknown to us. I am nonetheless going to add this piece of lore as it is an interesting folk take on the cult of Diana.

In the sacred wood of Diana, it is told that there is a tree, probably an oak, that catches the eye; mistletoe - a plant sacred to Diana - growing all around it. In front of it, there always seemed to be a silhouette of a man, holding a branch in his hand. He's keeping his guard up, scanning the wood ready to battle the enemy that's about to come. He's both a priest and a king: he's the rex nemorensis. The "enemy" who's about to be introduced is a slave who managed to free himself from his status - what one would call, in Latin, a libertus - and whose job is that of taking the life of the current rex nemorensis with a stick of mistletoe. If he's successful, he'll be granted that same position. The new ruler-priest will have the responsibility to grant abundance to the wood, and so he must dedicate himself to its patroness: Diana herself. With this alliance ensured, the new rex nemorensis can now officially take the place of the former until the cycle doesn't repeat again.

This legend is supposed to explain how cycles always start and end, as well as how a ritual worked. The origins of this myth are unknown: since it does not seem to have classical origins - Greek, Roman or Italic, that is - , it could be a product of syncretism of local folklore and mythology. I think it is worth to mention that one of the storytellers had suggested the myth being a descendant of the Celtic culture, as the figure of the rex nemorensis reminded them about the knowledgeable druids. Even though I do think that Indoeuropean ancient religions have a common root, I don't share this view as historically talking there is no evidence of Celts and Romans interacting in Lazio so back in time - and by "back in time" I mean at the very foundation of the Italian capital.

Lo "Specchio di Diana" - The "Mirror of Diana"

The "Specchio di Diana", or Lago di Nemi [= Lake of Nemi, Italian] is a lake of volcanic origin. Unfortunately enough, we do not have many records of legends and/or myths about this lake. Nor do we have, archeologically, much left of what used to be a place of great interest for pagan polytheists due to its connections to Diana. As I had already mentioned in the paragraph about Nemi, two ships were built here under commission - possibly - of Caligula. Later on, it is theorised that they might have been destroyed after the emperor passed away in order to remove every trace of him from the Roman culture.

But why is this place so connected to Diana? As far as we know today, it is mainly because of a legend: it is said that the goddess used to look at her reflection in the crystal clear waters of the lake. And that's probably a legend that became popular after the construction of the temple - which was built on the shore of the lake, even though the latter has now shrunk.

In modern times, the lake has become a destination of great interest to neopagans... almost as if the essence of the location never faded nor blurred.

Il santuario - The sanctuary

That is because this is the location where almost two millenia ago pagans used to reunite to celebrate Diana. The same sanctuary that basically gave birth to the city, literally leading to the construction of Nemi. This temple is, unfortunately, not open to visitors due to unspecified reasons - most probably, because of archeological excavations or restoration workings.

Historians have dated the construction of this great complex - we're talking about a 45.000 square metre surface, making this sanctuary one of the largest in Italy - back to the II-III century BCE circa. This temple was thought to be dedicated either to Diana or to Vesta due to an ambiguous inscription - the first piece to ever be retieved from the ruins. However, the most accredited theory reveals that this temple was indeed built in honor of the Roman goddess of the moon and hunt. The temple was visited by pagans until the 5th century - even though the its downfall started in the 2th century CE -, before Christianity took the place of polytheism. Still, it is said that some people kept visiting the sanctuary in secret, keeping on practicing the hypothetical "ritual" of the rex nemorensis - some state that this tradition survived through the early Middle Ages. And so did Diana, apparently, by becoming part of the local folklore under different figures - which is something I am going to discuss about later in this paragraph.

The "discovery" of the temple was a matter of luck: a marquis, whose surname was Frangipane, had bought that piece of land and decided to start archaeological excavations, bringing back to light part of the sacred building. We're in the XVII century, and further excavations protracted from late XVII century to late XVIII will eventually ruin what was left of the temple, almost completely erasing its existence: parts of what was once a sanctuary are now scattered all around the world, in different museums. We'll have to wait until the year 1924, when the Italian government decides to investigate further on the sacred area: this new operation will uncover the thermal baths and the theater that were part of the sanctuary, but they will be covered again little after.

Now, going back to how Diana possibly survived throughout all of these centuries. The first theory, is that some of her aspects were slowly transfered to Vergine Maria [= Virgin Mary, Italian]: two of them, being the serpent and the lunar horn. While Diana wears them on her head, the Madonna puts them under her foot - almost as a sign of the victory of Christianity over paganism. Another figure that might be a derivative of this goddess, is the Befana [= an old witch who brings sweets to kids on Epiphany in Italian folklore]. Both are tied with the legendary imagery of a woman flying on a broomstick - one carrying sweets; the other, Diana, bringing wealth and fertility to the land on the night between the 5th and the 6th of January.

Allora visto che ti ritieni una tifosa interista ma non fascista prima di dare dei fascisti ad altrettanti tifosi che non si riconoscono in questa etichetta potreste pensarci un po’ di più! Perché il discorso vale per tutti e non solo per voi, a casa mia si dice che “ve la cantate e ve la suonate “ da soli: quasi tutte le curve sono politicamente schierate a destra, fanno solo meno notizia.Poi guarda io scrivo a te perché nonostante tutto ti reputo una persona intelligente, ho letto la risposta di quell’altra e vabbè rido, perché è chiaramente gente che a scuola ha saltato lezioni di comprensioni del testo.

Detto ciò si parla sempre di valori dello sport eppure le uniche partite dove i tifosi delle due squadre avversarie possono bersi una birra insieme pre e post gara sono Lazio- Inter e Inter-Lazio 🤷🏻‍♀️

Ma guarda quando i Laziali vengono definiti 'fascisti' lo si fa perché una grandissima parte della curva lo è (e penso lo sappia anche tu) così come lo è una grandissima fetta della curva dell'inter e di tante altre squadre. Alla fine non è una gara, purtroppo è così e basta. Molto spesso lo leggo anche di noi interisti per dirti proprio perché la Nord ha dimostrato di essere di destra, poi capisco anche che magari a chi è laziale e non fascista possa dare fastidio per carità è normale quando si generalizza lo si fa perché (io ti parlo solo delle nostre tifoserie) queste due curve/tifoserie hanno dato modo alle persone di parlare. Poi con la Lazio la situazione è ‘peggiore’ per tutta una serie di cose successe anche negli ultimi anni. Sarebbe bello se un indomani non dovremmo più additare nessuno come tale perché nessuno più si identificherà in quello schifo di, non so nemmeno come definirli perché ideali non sono.

Per la seconda parte del messaggio sono d’accordo. Indipendentemente da cosa si pensa è bello che ci sia una sorta di unione in uno sport dove ci si offende e basta. Oggi i nostri hanno fatto due/tre striscioni sui laziali. Cori pro Lazio ecc ecc. stessa cosa i laziali che cantavano ‘chi non salta milanista è’, poi a fine partita tutti tranquilli (almeno quando sono uscita io ahah).

Per gli insulti a Serena però ti devo un attimo chiedere di non mandarmene perché io la reputo una persona molto simpatica e intelligente e non mi piace che venga insultata nel mio askbox o in generale.

Per il resto sono aperta al dialogo e ai tuoi (o vostri) punti di vista 😊

Ti apprezzo perché al contrario di alcuni nostri compagni di tifo non hai mai cambiato idea su allegri. La squadra non era quelle delle otto vittorie di fila/clean sheet ma quella che è uscita dal girone di champions a calci in culo 💀 in campo c’era una squadra europea e una a cui è stata inculcato calcio non propositivo e vecchio. È la stessa partita di Lisbona, la differenza sta nel fatto che sono tornati dei giocatori “affermati” e i giovani che ci hanno evitato una figura di merda quel giorno ora non entrano manco per sbaglio (Fagioli no ma McKennie sì hahahaha Alex Sandro ancora preso in considerazione col rischio di rinnovo automatico). Ci sta perdere ma così è stata di una mollezza imbarazzante. Mai un momento di pressing. UN ammonito. Bremer disastroso stasera e mi dispiace, non so cosa gli sia successo. Di Maria non vedo l’ora che torni in Argentina. Se continua a far giocare Chiesa a destra e basso ho paura che lo salutiamo tra poco. “È questione di soldi, potere e carriera. La si definisce “produttività” ma purtroppo si producono soltanto “molte false morti per Covid”. Sarebbero queste – secondo il medico –le ragioni di un numero sovrastimato di pazienti da parte degli ospedali. Ma c’è di più: “In alcune strutture ospedaliere si alterano i dati perché sperano che dimostrandosi in sofferenza per il Covid possano mettere le mani più facilmente sui soldi del Pnrr. Si stanno organizzando anche per assumere nuovo personale”. Secondo il dirigente medico intervistato da ReStart “il pubblico apre le strutture e la gestione del personale viene data ai privati”. “I positivi – conclude – servono per alimentare il sistema”. Dato che i soldi aggiuntivi per i ricoveri Covid partono dal giorno della degenza, se un paziente entra in ospedale perché si è rotto una caviglia e dopo giorni si scopre che è positivo il rimborso comincia dal primo giorno della degenza. Ovviamente tutto legale.

Who Sired them, and into what Generation were they Sired? What’s their relationship with their Sire like, and what were the circumstances of their Embrace?

She was embraced by the ventrue primogen of Munich the when she was17 in 1958, her father was her sire’s ghoul and she’d been chosen and raised to be turned ever since childhood. Both her father and her entire zarist family had been tricked by her sire into serving him with lies of turning lebedev to help “free” Russia, but both her and her sire ended up having little to no interest in foreign affairs and mostly focused on economic control in Germany. Her sire had always been some sort of stern third parent to her, but in death she looks at him as more of a mentor and an ally than a father figure, while her sire definitely saw her as a surrogate daughter. She mostly resents him for giving into the beckoning in 2021, but his disappearence is the main reason she is sent to Rome instead of him. She’s 10th generation.

What did they do (as a career or in general) before they were Embraced?

She’d been pulled out of school at 16 in the year preceding her embrace, but she never had any aspirations outside becoming a vampire. Her upbringing led her to see other humans as lesser and she never made any real connections, but both her parents and her sire pushed her to form relationships with her peers to see how she would deal in social situations (ended up mostly forming cliques, definitely made a terrifying bully). In between her 16th and 17th birthday she didn’t spend almost any time with fellow humans, mostly being introduced to kindred society and taught by her sire.

What have they spent most of their years as a Kindred doing?

She spent all of her unlife as part of the camarilla, in a priviledged position due to her sire’s status in her first years of unlife she mostly took care of her sire’s economic ties to the human world (which she was wholly unprepared for, and mostly dealed with it by using intimidation and dominate, miraculously managing to keep her sire’s businesses afloat due to sheer luck and ability to keep a poker face) + she only started actively participating in kindred society once she was 30 and her and her sire moved to Berlin, she was given a key role in the blood trade, which she excelled at due to being a huge asshole with no empathy for humans. This led her to gaining more and more influence in the Berlin court, even more than her sire, though unlike her sire she wasn’t well liked as much as she was feared and had a lot of kindred indebted to her in one way or another. She met her wife in 2004, a young brujah anarch disserter.

In 2021 she’s given the role that was originally meant for her sire as the prince of Rome (the previous toreador prince Baldassarre having most likely been assassinated). This is basically both a retirement gift for her sire and a crucial role for the higher up of the German camarilla, as Rome and Italy in general are considered a very cozy and tranquil place due to there being less than 20 recognized vampires (in Rome and possibly all of Lazio) and the anarch, sabbat and hunters having supposedly destroyed each other in the lead years in the 70s. The German camarilla is very much looking to move there. She moves there together with his wife and Pietro, a roman immigrant in Germany who very much did not want to go back and is coerced into working as an interpreter for Lebedev and her now appointed sheriff wife. They do not have a nice time there

What name did they go by as a Kine, and what name do they go by now? Why and how did they choose this name, if it’s different?

Her given name is Marjorie but she’s been going as Mia for most of her adult life. She wanted to move to the U.S and felt she needed a more “marketable” name. As a kindred, she mostly goes by her wife’s surname lebedev, and only close friends and associates call her Mia. Nobody, not even lebedev knows that’s not her real name.

What have they spent most of their years as a Kindred doing?

She was embraced into the Brujah clan and anarch movement but very much did not fit in either with the movement or her clan. She was ambitious and loved her luxury in life, and in the anarch movement she’s convinced she’s going to stagnate forever as some sort of hellish punishment for her selfishness in life. She almost starts embarking in journey of self betterment and personal growth, aided by her close relationship with her coterie, until she finds more about the camarilla and how a different, more glamorous life is possible even as a vampire and it takes her two seconds to betray her friends just to have a shot at being part of it. By chance she ends up giving her information to Lebedev, and she immediately falls for her, mostly because of her doll-like looks and because she sees her as some sort of mystical russian princess (lebedev’s family was very faintly related to nobility but she def no princess). Lebedev on the other hand is attracted to her brashness and self assuredness, and due to Mia being physically extremely strong she ends up working for her initially just as muscle, then as a close advisor (but def still muscle when necessary). They get married two years after their first meeting and it's very much a cringe and toxic marriage because at the end of the day they don't truly understand/know each other and they both see what they want to see, but they still love each other very deeply.

She jumps at the opportunity to become both sheriff and married to a prince when Lebedev is offered the role, and pressures her to take it.

Which of their Clan’s stereotypes apply to them? Which do they act against, or embody the opposite of?

She does not come across as Brujah at all, at a first glance everything about her screams toreador. She has absolutely no political ideals, was never involved in activism and has no desire for rebellion, her only real goal is to be rich, safe, comfortable and well fed. If i had to pick any archetype for her i’d go with blood worshipper because that would definitely feed into her massive ego but she doesn’t have any contact with other brujahs so she wouldn’t have anyone to pick a sense of superiority from. She mostly resents her clan, doesn’t feel like it represents her at all, and lets people assume she’s a toreador or her wife’s childe. As for what stereotypes apply to her, she’s extremely impulsive and often acts upon emotion, she has extreme anger issues and becomes restless if she goes too long without fighting.
