The lovely @hebuiltfive sent this ask from @squiddokiddo’s excellent March of the OC’s ask game about four OCs. I will answer conventionally about three of them, but the fourth requires a little extract to explain…

Bez’s favourite Thunderbird

Scott cautiously patted Bez on the head and murmured his thanks for the gift of… err… whatever the giant green drool-soaked plushie monster Bez had deposited at his feet was meant to be. Some kind of chunky lizard? A turtle… but with a zip on its belly?

The dog backed away and looked at him expectantly. Ah. He needed to physically accept the gift. Ugh… but he could literally see dog-spit-bubbles gleaming on the fuzzy surface. Shudder. Come on Tracy, you’ve dealt with grosser things in Gordon’s bedroom…

Acting with the kind of caution he’d exercise towards potentially explosive toxic waste, Scott picked the item up with a thumb and forefinger, and dangled it in the air as far from his body as possible to inspect. It spun slowly in the air to reveal a very familiar yellow, red and white pattern on the top side and his jaw dropped in delighted surprise.

The shape, he could now see, was almost recognisable but it had been significantly squashed and white stuffing was poking out from several holes. Other sections had evidently been firmly re-stitched together which only emphasised how the rest of the original seams were on the point of bursting. The tail was hanging on by mere threads. Bez sat up tall on his hind legs and looked immensely proud of himself.

“Oh Bez… whatever would Virgil say?”

Scott coughed to repress the snigger that thought had prompted and then bit his lip, not wanting to offend the giant animal by laughing in his face. His body shook a little as he crouched and reverently placed the mutilated toy back down in front of its owner but he kept his cool. Said owner eyed him and then promptly picked it up and put it more decisively on top of Scott’s shoes.

“Goodness you are highly honoured Scott, he won’t let me near Thunderbird Chew! I’ve had to sneak her away while he sleeps to carry out routine maintenance in the dead of night and… err, Scott? Are you ok?”

Scott lost control and his shoulders shook as he crammed a hand into his mouth to suppress the giggles.

Thunderbird Chew! Now he really couldn’t wait to tell Virgil!

Now, I haven't specifically thought of a scenario where either one of them have needed to be rescued, however, they are teens on a tropical island, filled with caves, cliffs and jungles, there's bound to be at least one misadventure that ended in a rescue (much to the amusement to older brothers)

🍂 • Does your OC have favourite clothes or outfits? What kind of aesthetics do they like?

Okay, very quickly adding in photos of Alex and Abigail then I'll talk more

Okay, so, starting off with Alex. I would say he doesn't really have much if a "style" as per say, but definitely likes a jacket of some sort, but very much likes space in a 'woah, pretty' sense rather then a 'oooh, science' way.

As for Abigail, I don't know if you can tell from her hoodie, but she loves ladybirds. Like, a lot. So much so, that the hoodie, you just so happen to see on her, she painted on all of the spots, and, although thankfully you can not see it (as I can not draw it), she painted on these amazing wings on the back of her hoodie. In case anyone wants to know how I came up with this, blame boys will be bugs by cavetown Don't ask how they are related.

To Syeira, family is everything. Her family has descended from generations of conflict where there were few to trust, and even fewer to rely upon. Her sons and her grandchildren (all three of them) are the only family she has left now. She has outlived two husbands (and a third son). In her twilight years, she protects them with every fiber of her being. So the best way to ensure that you get cut out of her life is to hurt her family.

As for how easily she lets go? If you don't let many close, the ties that bind are slack enough to cut loose. But she never forgets, and she rarely forgives.

hey, thanks for the ask!

i figure since im writing a whole piece about him, i should probably properly introduce yall to Zayne Topher, my favourite goalie to hurt lately:

here's a picrew i made of him, for starts:

he's 24 years old, and currently plays as the starting goalie for the Deville Phoenixes of the Plutidyne Hockey League (PHL) as a prospect to the PIHL's Belneux Thunderbirds. luckily he has been spared the misfortune of being in the CSHL, but is still having a hell of a time regardless.

standing at a towering 6'4", he's one of my taller characters and this has given him a bit of an advantage when it comes to being a goalie. however, due to family issues, substance use problems, and undiagnosed/untreated mental health concerns, Zayne has had an uphill battle with his professional hockey career. despite having been drafted at 18 years old by the Thunderbirds, he has mostly remained with the Phoenixes. he's really only played for the Thunderbirds when they've run through their main goalies, and has only started in around 20 games over the past 7 years. this is mainly due to management's inability to predict his behaviour and their inability to properly help Zayne address and overcome his struggles.

he is childhood friends with the team's star player, Trevor McCann, as the two grew up playing together. they were even drafted in the same year! however, Trevor has been with the Thunderbirds almost the entirety of the past 7 years, unlike Zayne. Trevor has tried many times to help Zayne get to the big leagues, with limited success. Zayne, though he wouldnt really say it out loud, is very jealous of this fact and sort of resents Trevor because of it.

WIP Wednesday

Adding to my Thunderbirds fic with OC Lieutenant Tamara Fielding & Jonesy (both firefighters who work with Chief McCready). The fic is written completely out of order (my brain refuses to be anything but chaotic!)

Tam set her coffee down on the countertop of the front desk and dragged an office chair towards her.

God she hated paperwork, especially during the winter months. Maybe she could shred the whole pile...create a fire in the foyer - anything to thaw out her frozen hands. Then again, arson, as a rule, was somewhat frowned upon within the firefighting community. Killjoys.

Tam cradled the quickly cooling coffee, attempting to leech the remaining heat from it. 

"You gonna drink that or buy it dinner?"

"Oh I'd take it to bed with me if I could, but I've somehow gotta make your numbers look good so Chief McCready doesn't fire your ass."

"Sounds like an easy day to me. I am, after all, Jonesy... the living legend."

Tam arched a brow as he flexed 

"Hmmm...those weren't the words I was thinking of."

"Well I'm not sure you can use ruggedly handsome in a report?"  

Tam took a sip of her coffee.

"I've known cats with smaller egos than yours."

Jonesy grinned. 

"So why's Chief got you hooled up here anyway? I miss my partner in crime. The probie ain't bad, but I want my work wife back."

Tam took an elongated slurp of her now-iced-latte, before the phone mercifully rang.

"Hold up, I've gotta take this."

Jonesy gave a mock salute, winked, then headed in the general direction of the lockers.

"London Fire Brigade"

"Guess who?"

"Scott?"

"Guilty as charged!"

"How...err...how are you? Sorry, I wasn't expecting it to be you. Is everything okay, I mean, is there a situation we can assist with?"

"Oh! No, it's just a friendly call. I've asked EOS and John to cover any incoming calls to the station  while we chat."

"That's...erm...thanks?"

"So! In answer to your earlier question - I'm well. Bored as hell, stuck doing paperwork, but you know what they say...no rest for the wicked!"

"I'm not sure anyone in your family really fits that description."

"Honestly? Even after Gordon switched the letters  around on your keyboard?"

"That was him?"

"Like I said, wicked."

There was a brief pause.

"How's everyone else? I don't think I managed to catch Virgil before I left."

"Ah yes. Tyre factory fire in Madrid. To be fair, he's not one for goodbyes. But yes - the rest of the family's well. Kayo, I think, is missing the female company already as she's being proper ornery today. I think Alan's gonna have to game standing up as she kicked his arse good n proper sparring this morning."

Tam chuckled despite herself. 

"Poor Alan." 

"Anyway, just thought I'd drop you a line to see how life back at the station was going?"

"Oh. Well...s'been okay. Chief McCready has me on desk duty today thanks to the whole surfboard incident. Told her my head was fine, but, yeah. Here I am checking fire alarms, fitting car seats and making coffee. Life in the fast lane..."

"Hey, don't knock it. I've spent the day crunching numbers."

"You love numbers."

"Yeah, not these numbers though. Hey! We could swap? You do my Tracy Industries calcs and I'll brew the coffees?"

"Sure, I mean, only if I get to work in your office? The London drizzle and concrete doesn't quite stand up to your sea view."

"Deal! I'll bring One around as soon as I can suit up!"

"Oh, and I should warn you...don't drink the coffee. It's the cheapest instant sh*t they could find...and it's decaf."

"Ah now, that may be a deal-breaker you see..."

"Damnit"

"Yeah. Can't be pulling all night rescues on weak wanna-be-coffee."

"You wouldn't cut it here then Commander...better stick to your paperwork."

"Touché! Anyway...I better head off and let you get back to it. It was nice hearing your voice. Maybe we can grab lunch whenever I'm next in London?"

"I'd like that."

"Great, I'll get John to locate the nearest McDonald's for us."

There was a click as Scott hung up.

Az: Az is a pretty good swimmer! The pool/beach isn't generally their first thought of places to go but they're quite happy splashing around in the water if that's where they end up - other people may not be quite as impressed about being splashed! They love space, but they love space from the firm location of Terra Firma. While they wouldn't say no to one trip up to Thunderbird Five, just to say they've done it (and also to see first hand data collection), leaving Earth's crust and its gravity isn't really on their bucket list.

Heather: Heather can swim well enough, although she tends to avoid going swimming with Az because she's not a fan of being splashed or (gently) dunked. Floating around in the water is fine for a while, but there are other places she'd rather be, especially with her friends. Now, space on the other hand... Heather hasn't managed to get an opportunity for astronaut training yet but she's got a firm eye out for possibilities - which has certainly included trying to persuade John to sneak her up to Thunderbird Five (he has not yet been persuaded, although this is more due to not wanting to deal with Scott than not trusting her on his precious Thunderbird - he'd much rather Heather or even Az than Fischler!). Nothing's come up yet but that's probably only a matter of time...

OC ASK TIME!! 1, 11, and 27

"1. Your first OC ever?"

I don't think I could remember my very first, but I could definitely describe an early one. When I was younger I used to play a sh#t-ton of Animal Jam, like I hardcore loved that game to shreds, one of my favorite things to do in-game besides relaxing in an empty server was roleplaying in Sarepia Forest- But I didn't do Warrior Cats or wolves or whatever, I roleplayed as weird sh#t like ghosts/shadow people, mutated abominations, creatures that disguised themselves as normal animals, steampunk men, robots, etc. (Funny how I haven't changed, huh?) Anyways, one of these characters was an arctic wolf that was pitch black and had red eyes, and had a tuxedo and a fancy top hat..of course he was a wolf, visually, but I liked to imagine him as a very tall (maybe 10 feet?) scary Victorian ghostguy with sharp teeth, he would hide in obscured areas like under bushes and would watch and wait for other peoples characters to come by to snatch them and drag them into the shadows to be killed and even eaten. I think I remember him even being able to shapeshift and using that ability to lure others to their deaths. One of his forms was a rabbit. Over the years he was slowly forgotten, but now he is back in my mind and now I am FLABBERGASTED at how similar to how many of my current OCs he is. Pretty much every circus OC I have lmao, with maybe like…3 exceptions. But we aren't here to focus on those guys we're here to focus on a happy lil guy…and todays happy lil guy is….drum roll……..Victor! So unpredictable right. Just look at my pfp. Look at that stupid face. Excited kitten vibes. He used to be quite shy and reserved but he had a moment in his life where he realized it was okay to be himself as long as it wasn't hurting himself or anyone. He started getting into entertainment business in the 1800's and it went from there, he loves people and loves when people are having fun!!! He loves his wife!! And kids!! He is so full of love!!!!!!!!!

"27. Any OCs that were inspired by a certain song?"

Parts of stories inspired by songs? A couple. But conjured up entirely from a song? Just one. Funnily enough it was Isaac lmao, this was sometime during 2019 and I was vibing to music and Had An Idea. And of all songs it was this lol: https://youtu.be/e2qG5uwDCW4

His story was originally a love story (so glad this changed), but I couldn't draw him and forgot about him over the course of like..2 years until his concept randomly came back to me in late 2021-something during the early days of Modernparanormal. Back then he still had the prisoner backstory, but it wasn't nearly as fleshed out as it is now. Thunderbird wasn't even involved with Isaac in any way, he was just Katt's sh#tty incubus (iirc, at the time. He's a different thing now) landlord XD (also glad this changed). Isaac lived in a mansion with Gabriel and Vincent (who also had a love story background at the time, blegh), Vincent was a melancholic hopeless romantic, Gabriel was..very very sad, and Isaac was the chaotic one. Over time their stories became separated and changed, and now Isaac is calm, Gabriel is happy, and Vincent is chaotic as f#ck. Isaac went through many design changes over the years, and I may cover them eventually since they've all got their weird little ups and downs, and it'd be interesting to focus on how it evolved, what traits I kept or changed or completely removed and whatnot. 🤔 Are there any new characters you want to write about?

I'd love to start writing for Star Wars and particularly for the trio - I once wrote a scene with young!Han for a wip but that was years ago and I've never done much for Star Wars since. I'd love to write for Luke and Leia for sure (and Wedge too). And I'd also love to start writing for ATLA and the Gaang, it's just that so far I've not really had many ideas (I think a rewatch is due.)

👻 Is there a new genre you'd like to write?

Actually I'd love to write an epistolary fic - I'm trying to experiment with POVs and writing styles more and it could be interesting to write a fic in letter form.

🦖 Are there any fandoms you wrote for in the past that you'd like to return to?

The proper original Thunderbirds - I never published fic but I did write a few scenes for a story, and I'd like to get back to that as it's a show close to my heart. I'd also like to get back to writing for the Super Mario franchise because that was my first fandom and one I regret not having written as much as I'd like for despite have loads of ideas, but I really do want to explore that world more.

🫘 Spill the beans. What's a new project you're doing this year?

This year I'll be working on the Theo Thawne AU - a series of fics focused on my OC Theodore Edward Thawne, the son of Malcolm and Laura Thawne and the second Cobalt Blue, and his experiences with time travel as he gets swept up in the events of the series. It's going to start out in S5 as he finds out just who his old childhood friend Nora has been talking to and races to help her and stop Eobard, and then deals with events like Crisis and Armageddon and the like (won't go into too many details but they're going to be written a lot better), with Theo having to deal with the timeline changes, and it will end in S9, when he comes face to face with his (by 2049) long-dead uncle, which brings up strong emotions for everyone involved.

I won't give too many spoilers, but needless to say Theo's presence in these events will change things - but one event remains the same and it will haunt him across the whole series.

Ooh hello! Thanks for the ask! Let me see now…

Ash

Ash was Scott’s airforce wingman. They worked together as test pilots then were both posted to Bereznik. He can’t fly fighter jets himself anymore, as he lost his arm in the same incident that saw Scott shot down and captured. He stayed in the airforce though, rose up through the ranks and now is pretty senior. His particular interest is in the development of new tech, particularly things that would keep his pilots safer / allow them to do their jobs more efficiently. He’d love all the Thunderbirds but if he ever got to visit the hangar, his eye would be drawn to Shadow… yes… he’d very much like to order 40 of those please!

Val

Scott’s slightly older childhood friend, terrible influence, teenage crush and squadron buddy in Bereznik. She didn’t make it out of the mission Scott got shot down in, so sadly she never sees the Thunderbirds, but she would have loved One for all the reasons he does - fast is better. Fast is ALWAYS better!

Will absolutely refuse to say which her favourite Thunderbird is because it winds Scott up something chronic: “You MUST think one of them is slightly cooler? Tell me… I won’t tell the others. It’s One isn’t it? If you don��t say, I’m assuming it’s One.” Years of mediating passionate arguments between 8 year olds have given her an excellent sense of when to remain firmly on the fence. In reality, at the point we’re up to in the story she is… not a fan… of flying because last time she did it she was sealed inside a makeshift coffin and the sounds and smells of aircraft are tied up with that experience. Scott intends to work on it. Eventually she’s always going to have a soft spot for Tracy Two for that reason. But her favourite of all? Mole pod. Because that’s how Virgil eventually got her, Scott and the school kids out of the cave.

@sofasurf and I’s favourite floof has some very firm views as can be seen in this snippet. I now have so much lore surrounding Thunderbird Chew and the other softies in the set but that can wait for another day :)

🌊 • Can your OC swim? Are they comfortable in space? Or do they prefer to keep their feet on the ground?

Squirt is very comfortable in the water which is one of the reasons they assigned to train as an aquanaut, they're a stronger swimmer under the water than they are on the surface and of course they're only a kiddo and have still got a lot to learn, but Gordon definitely sees potential in them.

Squirt is terrible in space. They have a lot of fun in zero gravity but they just can't keep themselves upright and they need someone to hold on to them so they don't keep drifting off. They've only been up there a few times so far but they've come back to earth feeling space sick most of those times.

hello everyone! i finally decided to give a proper intro a whirl....

i really enjoy creating characters and worldbuilding, as well as hearing about anyone else who does the same. always feel free to drop by my messages or my asks and ramble away!

i mostly write what could be considered sci-fi or futuristic, as most of my stories take place in a planet i created and set in the future. most of my stories take place around a group of hockey leagues i’ve created.

🩸 ⚔️ | “slaughter season” (action, thriller)

“Slaughter Season” focusses on the stories and lives of the players and teams in the Combat Sports Hockey League, also known as the CSHL. The league is one of two premier hockey leagues on the planet of Plutidyne, and is well known for their more violent approach to the game. The League is very hands off when it comes to calling penalties, breaking up fights, and providing supplementary discipline to its players. On top of this- the threat of the Team Improvement Lottery, an event occurring every five years and one that can make or break a team, looms overhead. Those who are entrusted with the duty of protecting the players seem to be failing them the most.

👤🏒 | “the commissioner” (suspense)

Being the Commissioner of the CSHL is hard work; the League hinges on every decision you make, you are never the hero in the eyes of the fans, and everyone seems to want a piece of you. The Commissioner is elusive in the public eye for a reason, and though their identity seems to be known, there are theories that the Commissioner the public knows is just a facade. A particularly controversial season for the CSHL sends people looking for answers on this leader who is seldom seen.

🌇🏟️ | “welcome to the show” (action, episodic)

A collection of one shots featuring various CSHL players’ first ever game in the League. These stories will document their experiences as they play in their first game, as they finally begin to realize what they’ve gotten themselves into and the grave mistake they’ve made signing on that dotted line.

🥅 💉  | “acidic” (drama, dark fiction, tragedy)

Zayne Topher is trying to become the next big thing in net for the Belneux Thunderbirds, and the PIHL as a whole. However, he must first fight his own demons and the endless roadblocks that the universe throws at him.

⛸️ 👊 | “five for fighting” (slice of life, dramedy)

An episodic peek into the daily lives of the staff who keep the Nightingale Ice Center up and running. Between the hockey players running the pro shop, the figure skaters who want nothing to do with them, and to the quiet loner who drives the Zamboni- the rink bonds all of them together whether for better or for worse and whether they like it or not.

March Of The OCs

My contribution for March of the OCs; inspired by my moodboard series #alan tracy moodboard maybe.  Liana is my biggest, most important OC, and one of the only few who still remain out of all the ones I’ve ever created.  She came to me during a time when I was struggling with my writing, almost five years ago (this June), and since then, she’s grown so much more than I could ever imagined.  Thunderbirds is one of her smaller universes (among so, so, so many) but also one of the most influential, so it’s certainly one of her more importants ones.

Name: Liana Carmen Morales. Nicknames: Li or Lily; Miss Lily (only by kids); Adelaide Lily (anonymous artist alias). Age: 17+ years generally; 25 to 27 years in TAG (bc I’m not 100% sure yet). Birthday: 5th August. Gender: Female (she/her). Orientation: Pansexual. Occupation: Self-employed (including: game designer/writer; comic book artist/writer; artist (anonymous); social media influencer/vlogger).

headcanons (TAG-specific):

Liana meets Lady Penelope first, as they run in “adjacent” social circles.  Liana’s a growing household name, she does charity work, helps fund science expeditions, supports the environment, and occasionally works with the GDF, among other things; similar to Lady Penelope.

The first time she was officially rescued by IR was from the Estrella Grand Space Hotel; riding in Thunderbird 3 is currently the highlight of her life.

Her family died in an apartment fire that IR almost responded to; but the local Fire Chief refused their help.  They were then called away to another rescue (volcanic erruption) and by the time they were able to attend, the now-extinguished fire had already claimed most of the residents (and two firefighters).

Liana and Kayo bond over sparring and having criminal relatives (Kayo, her uncle; Liana, her father).  She bonds with Virgil over music and art; Gordon over environmentalism and the ocean; Scott over being the eldest sibling; John over coding and computers; and Alan over video games and space.

She earns the location of Tracy Island because they get called out on Alan’s birthday so John asks her to pick up the cake they ordered and some decorations

Eos likes to consult with Liana on human things she doesn’t understand: like the appeal of art or the necessity of Father’s Day (which leads to Liana helping Eos give John a Father’s Day present), among other things.  Eos considers Liana to be a more emotionally-driven human and thus able to provide unique insights.

Liana is part Mom-friend so she’s very good at mothering the brothers between rescues: making sure they eat and sleep on a regular basis, tending to injuries, encouraging them to have fun and take breaks and so on.

Liana and Grandma Tracy cook together sometimes; Liana will ask to learn certain family recipes, because simple comfort food is probably better for the brothers than the kind of exotic spicy food she normally cooks (and whatever Grandma cooks as well).  For a while she played like she didn’t know how to cook at all; but it’s unspoken between her and Grandma that one of them can cook well, and one of them can’t.  Of course, they don’t cook together all the time because Liana doesn’t want to step too much on Grandma’s toes.

John is the only one who knows that Adelaide Lily (one of Virgil’s favourite artists) is actually Liana; for a while, only Scott and John know that one of Alan’s favourite games (currently unnamed bc I’m terrible with names) was created by Liana; and only Eos knows where Liana actually lives.

Who is your hero?           “Me.  I am my own hero.  Is that a cliche?”  Laughs.  “Um, if I had to pick one -- these are all gonna be fictional people, I think.  Big fan of Carmen Sandiego.  And She-Ra.  Power ladies.  Lara Croft too.  I have lots who contribute to who I am, but there’s no one person above all.  I just have high standards, maybe.” If you could live anywhere, where would it be?           “Y’know, I keep coming back to New York?  I’ve left it a lot, been around the block a few times and I always end up back where I started.  Maybe, I dunno, somewhere close to a mountain ski resort.” What is your biggest fear?           “... Silence.” What is your favorite family vacation?           “Uh, never really had one?  But anywhere with a ski resort.  I like snowboarding.” What would you change about yourself if you could?           “Ah-ha.”  Laughs again, pointedly.  “That’s a dangerous road to go down so I’m gonna take the easy answer and say nothing.  I like who I am.” What really makes you angry?           “Bullies.  Abuse.  And those who let it happen.” What motivates you to work hard?           “If it helps people.  It could be the messiest job in the world, but if I’m helping people who need it, I’ll do whatever it takes.” What is your favorite thing about your career?           “That I don’t have one?  I just dip in and out of jobs.  My resume is... all over the place, honestly.  I like being my own boss and working to my own schedule.  No one breathing down my neck about projects, or micromanaging me.” What is your biggest complaint about your job?           “I don’t... I don’t really have one?  I mean, sometimes people can be unecessarily critical about silly things?  Like in that they comment just to be hateful?  But that’s a people thing.  No amount of complaing to management -- which is me, by the way, still self-employed -- is gonna change that people are mean.” What is your proudest accomplishment?           “Hasn’t happened yet.  I still have a lot of life to live and one day I’m gonna do something so... wow, I’ll want people to remember me for that.  Peak-Liana.  But out of the things I’ve done so far?  Starting the White Rose Foundation.  The first Hallowe’en Fashion Show.  Um... that time I testified against my father.  No, I’m not gonna talk about it.” What is your favorite book to read?           “Not much of a reader.  Although I like comics.  Does that count?  There’s a Young Avengers run I really like, but it’s only like... 13 issues.” What makes you laugh the most?           “I like a good pun.  Or some word play.  It’s my favourite type of humour.  Or, like, contextual humour?  I mean, if it’s funny, it’s funny, but those types of jokes definitely brighten my day.” What was the last movie you went to? What did you think?           “I saw Encanto.  It was...  I liked it.  I empathized a lot with the characters.  Y’know, pushing yourself to earn that parental affection, trying to prove yourself worthy of it, it’s... I can relate.” What did you want to be when you were small?           Silence.  “That’s, ah... another dangerous one.  I wanted to be a lot of things when I was a kid but...  What’s an easy answer?  Every kid wants to be a princess, right?  Just put that.” If you could choose to do anything for a day, what would it be?           “Oh, wow.”  Hesitates.  “People probably pick, like, meeting the British Royal Family or skydiving or something like that?  Um...  I’d love to go to space.  That’s a good answer, right?” What is your favorite game or sport to watch and play?           “Game?  Uh, Sims 3.  Or anything survival.  DnD, I like that.  Sports?  Dancing.  No doubt.  But also figure skating.  Hockey.  Snowboarding.  Baseball.  I could keep going if you want.” Would you rather ride a bike, ride a horse, or drive a car?           “Ooh, that’s hard.  Because I can see a benefit to all of them?  And I like horses, and I like physical activity, and driving’s fun.  I guess I’d pick driving.  But my favourite way to travel is by train.  Especially long journeys.” What would you sing at Karaoke night?           “Total Eclipse of the Heart, by Bonnie Tyler.  That is the karaoke crowd-pleaser and it’s so much fun.  I have a whole routine to it and everything.  It’s one of my favourite karaoke songs.  The other is...  well, I’m Still Standing, by Elton John?  But that’s... a personal thing.” What two radio stations do you listen to in the car the most?           “I don’t, I usually have a playlist running.  But I guess anything with indie rock.  Or classic rock.  I like a good guitar riff.” Which would you rather do: wash dishes, mow the lawn, clean the bathroom, or vacuum the house?           “Oh, mow the lawn, straight up.  Physical activity in the outdoors?  Love it.” If you could hire someone to help you, would it be with cleaning, cooking, or yard work?           “Of those three?  I enjoy cleaning the least.  Definitely that one.  I’m good at it because I learned, y’know, but if I could not do one for a while, it’d be that one.” If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?           “Sushi.  It’s my comfort food.  And there’s so many varieties and different types and ways to make it, I don’t think I’d ever get bored.” Who is your favorite author?           “Still not much of a reader.  Can I say Tolkien?  I like Lord of the Rings.  Well, I like the movies.  Haven’t read the books.  But I’ve heard they’re good.  So, yeah, Tolkien.”
