Various unnamed eevee, poochyena, dratini, and axew babies and unhatched dark and dragon type eggs: up for adoption, 1/4 are afflicted with “Shimmer” while another 1/3 has a likelihood of developing one of the unnamed chronic genetic conditions. 1/4 have the genetic markers for possibly developing an “unpredictable” “untrusting” or “obsessive” nature after level 5 or 3 years. 1/6 have been evaluated as having Poketism, so if adopted, be prepared to take extra precautions and care. do not adopt with expectations to “fix” them, I WILL know and WILL take them back and will blacklist you. Ableism towards Pokemon AND humans are NOT tolerated.

Chapter 6
I live! sorry for taking so long guys my mental health took a swan dive and I had exams to think of but now I'm back again with book 1. By the way, what do you guys think about the new Pokemons from Pokemon Scarlet and Violet? I really like some of them and Percy got a few new Pokemon.

The first thing Percy did when she finally managed to make her way through the doorway of her dorm was release Gengar and ask her if she could find her some bath supplies, she didn’t care from where. She had no problem resorting to thievery when she needed it, and having Pokemon that can turn invisible and phase through walls made theft very easy.
She released the rest of her Pokemon from their Pokeballs and let them join the others before she introduced Sableye to the rest of them. She left them to interact as she let her Panpour out of the PC and made her way to her room with him on her shoulder and Mimikyu still in her arms. She found Grim snoozing on the bed already before she walked into the connected bathroom and asked Panpour to fill the tub with Scald, then sat on the armchair in front of the fireplace that was lit by Chandelure and waited for Gengar to return. The water should cool down to a bearable degree til then, though as she petted her partner’s head she fell asleep at some point.

Stupid Housewarden Rosehearts and his stupid rules. To hell with that dorm.
That was what Ace was thinking as he passed the front gate of the Ramshackle dorm. Once he reached the front door, he started banging on it, “Oi! Percy, it’s me Ace! Just let me in, all right?!”
He waited for a response for a moment but got none, he was about to knock again, but before his knuckle could make contact with it the door slowly opened by itself.
“Percy?” he asked as he cautiously stepped inside, “Grim?”

Percy was having, probably one of the weirdest dreams she ever had, about talking playing cards painting white roses to red, before she was awakened by a loud banging noise. In her sleepy haze, she couldn’t recognize her surroundings for a second before Grim’s voice snapped her out of it.
“Myaaah… Hey, Percy…” the fiery feline said as he rubbed the sleep off his eyes, “I know it’s the middle of the night, but I think we’ve got a visitor.”
The blonde girl got up with a sigh and reached an arm for him to climb onto her shoulder, while her other arm hold Mimikyu in place.
“Maybe it’s those pesky ghosts again?” Grim asked, “They just don’t know when to quit.”
“I don’t think the ghosts would be banging on the front door Grim,” Percy said as she made her way downstairs.

“Man, the inside of the dorm is just as creepy as it’s outside” Ace muttered, then he slowly walked into a dark room, “Percy?”
Suddenly he heard something quickly run in the dark on all fours, “G-Grim? Is that you?”
“what are you doing here?”
A voice suddenly asked from behind him making him throw himself to the ground and wail in terror. “AAAAHHHHHH!”
And low and behold right in front of him was the newly appointed Housewarden herself, looking down at him with a very tired and very annoyed expression along with her partner, while her feline counterpart was laughing himself to tears.
“And how did you get in?”
“T-t-t-the d-door opened by itself,” he managed to stutter, still trying to even his breathing. He felt like his heart was trying to beat out of his ribcage.
"Of course, it did," the blonde trainer sighed and then turned to talk to the shadows of the empty room, "Guys, what did I say about scaring people you don't know?"
The sound of giggling echoed inside the room and slowly Shiinotic and Shaymin in its landform came out of the shadows.
"You two spend too much time with Mismagius, at least check out who it is before scaring them to death, you little rascals." Percy put a hand on her hip, then turned to Ace, "And again what are you doing here, gingernuts?"
"Yeah Ace?" Grim spoke from her shoulder, "It's the middle of the night!" but then he yelped when he saw the red and black object around the ginger's neck, "B-bwah! that collar!"
"I can't go back to Heartslabyul dorm," Now that he calmed himself enough to talk, his anger returning full power. "I'm joining your dorm. For good."
"Myah?! Come again?" the fiery feline shrieked.
Percy sighed again and turned around towards the kitchen, "I'll make some tea."

The tea in the kitchen was spoiled ages ago however, thankfully she always carried emergency teabags in her bag. So, after she wiped two cups with some baby wipes and asked Panpour to use scald once again, Percy served it to the fuming ginger sitting in the Ramshackle lounge.
Good thing sugar had no expiration date.
"I'd recognize that collar anywhere," Grim claimed, now sitting on one of the couches in the lounge. "It's the same one that psycho stuck on me at orientation! What'd you do to get shackled with that?"
"I ate a tart." Ace grumbled as he crossed his arms grumpily.
"You... ate a tart?" Percy, who was now sitting on the rocking chair with Mimikyu on her lap, in front of the crackling fireplace, repeated in confusion.
"Yeah, that's it! that's all I did!" he retorted, "I was a little hungry, see, so I went down to the dorm kitchen and found some tarts in the fridge. Three whole tarts! Big ones, too!"
he then told them how he ate just a slice of pie and how his Housewarden collared him on the spot.
"And... here I am."
All three of the Ramshackle residents silently stared at him for a second.
"So... The point is you're both terrible," Grim spoke first.
And Percy followed, "You really couldn't handle being alone for 10 minutes, could you?"
"You don't think that it's insane for my magic to get sealed away for eating ONE slice of tart?!" the ginger insisted. "And there were three whole tarts! THREE! It's not like he could eat 'em all himself! C'mon, you KNOW this is messed up!"
"It depends," Percy took a sip of her tea, "Was there a note on it?"
"NO!" Ace shouted, "There wasn't any NOTE!"
"Then it was fair game," the blonde shrugged, "In a place where multiple people share a kitchen, like a dorm, if you don't put your name on your food in the fridge that food belongs to all inhabitants of the dorm."
"Riiight?!"
"Yeah, but... " Grim argued, "I mean if there were three of 'em they were probably for a party. Maybe it was someone's birthday or somethin'? Lookit that! I'm, like, a master detective too!"
"A birthday party, huh...?" Ace scratched the back of his neck.
"They should write that it's for an event then, at least for the freshman" She shrugged again and then gestured to Ace, "He's gone to school for literally one day, he's not familiar with the customs of his dorm yet." she then turned to the ginger, "Did you at least apologize?"
"Wha? I thought you were on my side!" the ginger whined once again, looking very much like a grumpy child, “I’m a victim of the Housewarden's tyranny here!"
"A tyrant he may be, however, he's the only one who can take that collar off. Therefore, whether you like it or not you have no other choice but to apologize." Percy simply said as she silently sipped her tea and kept rubbing Mimikyu's chin, silently hoping for Gengar to return swiftly.
"Yeah, and don't go messin' with another man's meal in the future..." Grim started but then suddenly stopped, "Hey, wait a minute! I just realized I never got those cans of tuna the Head mage promised me!"
"All right, all right. Fine. I get that I should apologize." Ace gave in, "But you're coming with me, Percy. This was your idea, after all."
"Aww, would you like me to hold your hand like your mommy too, wittle baby?" she teased with a baby voice, but then shrugged and normally said, "But fine I have nothing better to do."
"So, anyway, you got a place for me to crash tonight?" Ace yawned and stretched after he finished the rest of his tea.
"You were serious about that?" Grim asked with a deadpan look, " Outside of the bedroom me and Percy use, this entire dump is buried under a foot of dust. So, if you wanna crash, you better start cleanin'!"
"Dude, no way! I hate cleaning!" Ace moaned, but then he grinned and slowly started to inch closer to Percy, "Just let me stay with you, Percy. I'm really slim. I won't take up much space and I can really warm you up on this cold night."
The moment he stopped talking Ace felt several eyes glaring holes in him and suddenly a growling filled the lounge.
"Mimikyu,"
*SMACK*
"OUCH!"
"Thank you, darling" she put down her empty cup and looked at the ginger boy with a red mark in the shape of The Disguise Pokemon's three-fingered appendage, that bitch slapped him all the way across the couch. "If you dread cleaning that much, this sofa has your name on it."
"Tch. You're about as flexible as a brick." the ginger grumbled.
"You either sleep on the sofa or on the outside, make your choice," Percy silenced the boy and got up from her rocking chair when she felt the familiar chill just in time to see that Gengar has arrived with an arm full of bath supplies, "Gengar, thank you, you're just in time. Now I'm off to the bath, see you in the morning, good night."
She took the supplies from The Shadow Pokemon and started to make her way toward her room with Mimikyu in her arms and Grim on their tails.
"Well, fine. The sofa it is." Ace said as he lay on the couch and tried to make himself comfortable, "Night!"

After the day she had, a lavender-scented hot bath felt like heaven, and after she made sure that the curtains were closed shut to block out the morning sun, she slipped into her comfortable nightgown, put on her sleeping mask, hugged Mimikyu on her chest and Percy was asleep the moment her head made contact with the pillow.
In the morning she woke up to Grim's screams and Phantump's giggles.
Percy sighed and took off her mask to see Grim on the ground and the Stump Pokemon pointing and laughing at him.
“Is this gonna happen every mornin’?” the little feline whined.
She lied on her back, lifted her partner up in the air, and smiled at him, “Good morning, my darling.”
Mimikyu smiled at him too, even though the Disguise Pokemon didn’t have a visible mouth she could see in his beady little eyes.
She hugged him to her chest and got out of bed. She had so much to do.
First, she got all of her Grassland, Forest, Water’-edge, Sea, and Urban Pokemon out of the PC, then she sent Gengar for a supply run while she settled her Pokemon to their new homes. Once the Shadow Pokemon came back, she, Sebastian the male Indeedee, and Blissey got to the dishes right away. While they cleaned all the cups, glasses, dishes, containers, and cutlery, Mary the female Indeedee cleaned the cabinets.
After the cleaning Percy showed her Leavanny the examples for her school uniforms that Crowley thankfully didn’t forget to send, because of her sun allergy she couldn’t just wear any fabric, it needed to be a very tight weave. Leavanny made the fabrics with Mareep’s wool, Wooloo’s fleece, Eldegoss, and Whimsicott’s cotton and then colors them with fabric dyes, cuts them with her cutters, and then sews them with her Tarountula’s strong thread. She is also the best fashion designer Percy knows.
She then grabbed the two 2.5-gallon jugs that Gengar ‘acquired’ and made her way to her Miltank and milked all her daily milk, she gave the jugs to Sebastian and walked to the berry garden to pick some Mago, Pecha, and some Pinap berries for breakfast.
She decided to make Blissey pancakes with Mago and Pecha berries and Pinap berry milkshakes. It’s called Blissey pancakes because she uses Blissey eggs instead of normal ones and as they are huge, she gets enormous amounts of pancake batter every time. Which is a good thing because she got 50 hungry mouths to feed right now.
“Myah! It smells amazing in here!”
Speaking of hungry mouths…
“Good morning Grim,” Percy said as she left the pancakes to Sebastian and started to put the Pinap berries Sneasel chopped into pure into a bowl and mixed it with Moomoo milk.
“Who are these three?” the fiery feline asked, pointing at the Happiness, the Sharp Claw, and the Cream Pokemons.
“These are Sneasel, Blissey, and Alcremie,” the blonde trainer introduced as the ruby cream with ribbon sweet Alcremie who was standing ready on the counter started to pour her cream into the bowl. Percy then gestured at the table that Mary was setting, “Go ahead sit the breakfast will be ready in a moment.”
She didn’t need to tell him twice, Grim was on one of the seats faster than a Sharpedo on the hunt.
“Where’s explody hair?” the feline asked, while Blissey using Ice Beam, formed a light blue ball of energy in front of her mouth and then fired a light blue beam at the bowl as Mimikyu mixed the milkshake, “Didn’t he woke up yet?”
“Well—” Percy started to say as she poured now ready Pinap milkshake into three tall glasses but got cut off by a loud scream that made her smile at Grim, “He’s certainly awake now.”
And on cue, a disheveled Ace ran into the kitchen with Furret, Poochyena, and Alolan Vulpix hanging on him.
“GET THEM OFF OF ME!” he shrieked as he tried to shake them off, “GET THEM OFF!”
“Okay guys, the playtime is over, your breakfast is getting cold.” She giggled at her baby Pokemons ‘antics as they let go of the ginger boy's shirt and ran to the backyard at the mention of breakfast. She then turned to Ace and gestured for him to sit, “Good morning, gingernuts. How was your sleep?”
“The couch was uncomfortable, something kept poking me all night, and I got woken up by your animals attacking me. What do you think?” he glared at her.
“Well, look at it on the bright side,” Percy took a plate full of mouthwatering pancakes and waved them under his nose then put it in front of him, making Ace’s stomach grumble, “At least you get to have a scrumptious breakfast. Now, maple syrup or chocolate sauce?”
The ginger boy looked between the sweet condiments outlined with a light blue that was floating to him courtesy of Mary, with a pout on his face, “Chocolate sauce, please.”
“Where did you get all these anyway?” he asked as he cut a piece of the pancake.
“Myah! Never mind where she got it, “Grim answered with his mouth full and his eyes sparkling from the flavor fest on his tongue, “These are so fluffy and sweet it feels like a cloud in my mouth, the cream is sweet and just the right amount of tart, it makes me feel so happy!”
“Yes,” Percy giggled and took a sip from her milkshake, “Blissey pancakes have that effect on people. I make it with Blissey eggs, they can cause a sense of bliss if you will.”
“What’s a Blissey?” Ace asked after he swallowed the piece in his mouth.
“Her.” The blonde said gesturing to the creature with a large, ovoid body with a pink upper body and white lower body. It had hair-like curls on either side of its head. White, wing-like tufts grow from its hips and shoulders, creating the impression of a dress. Its stubby arms, which it was waving at him with one of them with a warm smile, and feet were pink and lacked any digits. A small, pink pouch on its belly held a single large egg.
And Rotom, the ever so helpful servant of its queen, assisted her by opening its Pokedex app and floating up to its fellow Pokemon.
“Blissey, the Happiness Pokemon. A female-only species. Blissey senses sadness with its fluffy coat of fur. If it does so, this Pokémon will rush over to the sad person, however far they may be, to share an egg of happiness that brings a smile to any face.”  
“Yeah, basically,” Percy said before she took a bite of her pancakes and gave her Pokemon partner some too.
Ace looked like he wanted to ask another question when a loud knocking sound interrupted him. “Who is pounding on the door at this hour?!”
Just as he asked that a bird with orange and black plumage flew in and perched on Percy’s shoulder. It had a sharp, black beak, black eyes with yellow, mask-like markings behind it, and a small, pointed crest on the back of its head. Its upper side was reddish-orange, and its belly was gray. There was a flame pattern on its breast where the two colors meet. The tips and undersides of its pointed, black wings are yellow. Its legs are also black with sharp talons and two toes facing forward and one back. Two white, V-shaped markings are located near the tip of its long black tail feathers. Its tail ends in two points and has another feather sticking out of the base on each side, resembling the fletching on the end of an arrow.
“Fletch Fletch Fletchinder.” It chirped to his trainer. ‘There’s a blue-haired boy outside.’
“Is there now? Wonder what he’s doing here.” Percy hummed as she got up to answer the door.
“Is he here?”
“Good morning to you too, Deuce.” The blonde girl opened the door wider for the blue-haired boy to enter the dorm. “And yes, he’s here.”
“Morning, and I figured I’d find him here.” He said as he followed Percy to the kitchen.
“Yo! Remmington who was ı—” the ginger boy started but when he saw who it was his face turned into a scowl, “Ugh. Deuce…”
“So, you ate the Housewarden Rosehearts’ tart.” Deuce said, putting a hand on his hip, “You really are an idiot, Ace.”
“Oh, shut up! Like you’re one to talk!” the boy with the collar snapped, “Anyway,uh… Is he still mad?”
“What do you think ginger nuts?” Percy asked him then turned to Deuce, gesturing to the empty seat on the table, “Sit down, Mary would you please set a plate for him?”
“Thank you, and not at all. Maybe a touch irritated if anything. A few of our dormmates overslept this morning… but only three of ‘em got your treatment. “Deuce said while a plate slowly floated and landed in front of him along with a fork and a knife.
“You call that ‘not at all’ mad?!” Ace exclaimed, “Sounds like he’s still on the rampage, to me.”
“Well, it’s your own fault for stealing from the Housewarden and why is it so dark here?” the blue-haired boy asked as he looked around and saw that all the windows were covered with thick drapes that didn’t let even a drop of sunlight in, the rooms were illuminated by the lamps.
“Yeah, Remmington why are you avoiding the sun like a vampire?” the ginger boy asked Percy.
“Because I’d burn up like one if I go into the sun, gingernuts.” The blonde girl simply said as she put a bit more diced berries on her Pancake, surprising the three boys in front of her.
“What?” Grim asked after he finally finished his breakfast.
“I have a rare sunlight allergy called Solar Urticaria. It causes an itchy rash or hives that appear on any part of my skin if it gets exposed to the sun. the longer I stay in the sun the more serious the reaction is, it can cause anaphylaxis and that can lead to respiratory failure, seizures, shock, coma, and even death.” Percy explained, making the boys gasp. “That’s why I’ve been living nocturnally for the last 14 years but it’s obvious why I can’t maintain that habit any longer.”
“Wow,” Ace said slowly, “That sucks.”
“Yes, it most definitely does,” the trainer said while she finished the last of her pancakes, just in time for Leavanny to come in with her new uniform, “Now if you please excuse me, gentlemen, I need to get ready, and you need to quickly finish your breakfasts, it’s almost time.”

She brushed her hair, put on her Drop Dead Red lipstick, applied her sunblock, wore her uniform, put on her backpack, grabbed her parasol, and with her loyal partner Mimikyu on her shoulder, she was ready to go.
“What do you guys think?” she asked as she walked downstairs.

The boys were flabbergasted the moment they saw her, but they didn’t need to say anything, what they were thinking was obvious from their flushed faces.
“Well then let’s not dilly-dally, or else we’ll be late.”

While the three humans walked down the Main Street, their feline companion was practically skipping with joy.
“Move it! Outta the way! Night Raven Collage student comin’ through!” Grim show off to no one in particular.
“Someone’s happy this morning,” Percy muttered to her Pokemon partner, who made a crackling sound in agreement, as she held up her parasol to shield them both from the shiny ball of skin cancer known as the sun.  
“Oh? Did my collar catch your eye? It is way better than the one you’re stuck with! You know, the one that makes it so you can’t use magic?” The feline monster then turned his fiery little head to Ace, who was not at all happy. “But hey, the school could always use another janitor! Bwahahaha!”
Mimikyu joined Grim’s laughter with his cackling too. He didn’t like the ginger boy one bit ever since he met him, so the Disguise Pokemon saw no problem in laughing at his misfortune.
“Come on you two stop torturing the poor sod,” Percy scolded them while she poorly tried to conceal her own giggling, “He suffered enough.”
“Grrrrr! Trust me Grim, when I get my magic back, your hide is first up on the chopping block!” Ace growled back.
The blonde trainer immediately stopped giggling and her smile turned into a cold scowl, “Just you try, I’ll chop you up before you can reach for your pen.”
“Didn’t the Headmage JUST tell you yesterday, no more incidents?” Deuce reminded them, “Regardless, Ace you’re not going to be able to participate in class if you can’t use magic, so why not just apologize to the Housewarden? It’s a small price to pay for having the collar removed.”
“I already told him that, why else do you think that we’re going to the Mirror Chamber?” the blonde trainer told the blue-haired boy with closed eyes, then turned to the ginger boy and gave him a condescending look behind her dark-tinted glasses, “The wittle baby needs somebody to hold his hand while he apologizes to his big scawy Housewarden.” She said with a baby voice, making her Pokemon partner cackle again.
“Aaaaarg! I hate this so! SO! Much!” Ace growled again.
“Hmm. Ya know, we do still have some time to kill before class starts. And I am kinda curious about the other dorms.” Grim said as he climbed Percy’s other shoulder, “Guess I’ll go along and scope out the place while you make with the groveling.”
“Since when did this become a field trip?!”  
 They finally reached the Mirror hall and go through the one decorated with roses, playing cards, and little mushrooms. The dorm itself wasn’t much different from its mirror, it was a red castle decorated with spades, hearts, diamonds, and clubs, surrounded by a garden full of red rose bushes and a hedge maze.
It was beautiful but it was nothing next to the garden she had back in the lavender town, which was created by her blue Florges.
“Dang, this place is swank!” Grim said with awe, “This is nothing like our dumpster of a dorm.”
“Oi, our dorm is a work-in-progress all right,” Percy scolded the feline monster, “It’s going to be bloody gorgeous when I’m finished with it.”
In the depths of the Rose Maze, there was a heavy paint smell was dominant in the air. Percy soon understood where the smell was coming from as she saw the white roses half-painted red.
“Aww yeah, I am getting my paint on! They all gotta be red, or it’s ‘off with my head’!” the group heard a voice say.
‘huh, talk about déja vu.’ Percy thought to herself.
“Ah, someone’s here.” Grim being Grim, he jumped from her shoulder and run towards the voice.
 “Grim!” the blonde trainer whisper-yelled after her fiery dorm mate.
They discovered that the owner of the voice was an orange-haired boy with a red diamond under his right eye, who was on a ladder with a paintbrush in his hands painting the white roses red.
“Huh…?” The boy turned to them when he noticed the group approaching him and got down his ladder, “You guys need something?”
“What are you doing there?” Ace asked blatantly.
“Are you blind? I’m painting these roses red,” the boy simply answered as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.
“Yes, we can see that, but why?” Percy asked while she and Mimikyu simultaneously tilted their heads with curiosity.
“Ah ha ha. So naive, you put the ‘n’ in newb.” The boy laughed while light-heartedly shaking his head, but stopped when he got a good look at Ace and Deuce, “Hold the phone, I know you two! You’re the ones who broke a billion-thaumark chandelier and nearly got expelled for it, yeah?”
Both boys lowered their faces in shame.
“That chandelier is gonna haunt us till the day we graduate, isn’t it?” Ace whined.
“And YOU are also the one who ate the Housewarden’s tart that same night!” the orange-haired boy laughed, “You guys are THE hot topic around campus! I’ve gotta get in on this fleeting fame. I’m just gonna grab a selfie real quick…”
Fortunately, Percy was wearing her sunglasses or the sudden flash from that phone could blind her like the rest of the group.
“It’s cool if I post this on Magicom, right?” the boy asked but without waiting for the answer he was at it again, “Gimmie your names so I can tag you.”
“I’m Deuce Spade.”
“Ace.”
“He’s Grim, this is Mimikyu, my partner,” The blond girl introduced her companions first, then took off her glasses and was just about to introduce herself but… “And I’m—“
The orange-haired boy gasped and interrupted her, “You’re Percy The Ghost Queen!”
This made Percy furrow her brows, “How do you know that nickname?”
“You’re famous at Magicam!” the boy exclaimed excitedly.
“But I don’t have a Magicam,” the girl said in a not any less confused tone.
“Yeah, you do. See?” he said as he pointed his phone to her face, “You became famous overnight!”
On the phone, a video was playing. A video of her commanding her Glacion to aim an Ice Beam at the ground and her Pokemon jumping and landing on a perfectly made arctic rose. Her old Pokemon Contest recordings.  
“But how?” How could her contest recordings get uploaded to a social media platform of this reality? She then heard a giggling coming from her backpack. Of course. She shut her eyes, “Rotom!”
 “Nevertheless,” She shook her head and gained back her composure, “I am Percy Remmington, it’s a pleasure to make your acquaintance.”
“Uploaded! Sweet.” He turned off his phone and put it away, then turned to the group, “Oh, I’m Cater Diamond, by the way. I’m a junior here at Heartslabyul. But Cater is fine. Or Cay-Cay if you’re cray-cray! Soooo nice to meetcha!” the boy, Cater, winked at her, which made Mimikyu growl and started to glow with an angry blue aura again.
Just when he was about claw out the orange-haired boy for daring to flirt with his trainer, Percy stopped him by raising her hand, “Now, now love let’s not make a traumatic first expression.”
“Ah, you’re also our first female student and the beastmaster Housewarden of that so-called Ramshackle Dorm, right?” Cater crossed his arms, “Like, I can’t believe you actually live there! It’s all gloomy and looks like hot garbage on Magicam. No filter could salvage THAT dump.”
“Y’know, you’ve done nothin’ but diss us here, pal!” Grim growled while crossing his arms.
“Gah, what am I doing? I don’t have time to chat!” Cater’s eyes widened when he noticed the time, “The party’s tomorrow. If we’re not ready, it’s ‘off with my head’! hey, you kids wanna help me paint some roses?”
“Yeah, uh … Why are you doing that again exactly?” Ace asked.
“Because red roses are so much more photogenic! Or… something…? And after that, I’ve gotta start getting things ready for the big croquet tournament. And that means coloring all the flamingos.” The orange-haired boy sighed.
Percy didn’t get it, if you want red roses just plant red roses. It’s easier than painting all of them yourself and smells better too. And while talking about not getting it…
“You’re colorin’ flamingos now? Isn’t anything the right color around here?!” Grim grumbled.
“This flamingo you’re speaking of can’t be a tall, avian creature with a pink rounded body and Wings, a long neck that’s tied into a knot at the base and long thin white legs with webbed feet, a white face, a curved beak with a black tip by any chance can it?” The blonde girl asked curiously.
And it got really silent all of a sudden.
“Uh… Yeah.” Deuce answered slowly, “Except for the knotted neck. Why?”    
“Huh, what do you know maybe our realities have some similarities after all.” Percy mumbled to herself thinking about the Synchronize Pokemon Flamigo, then turned to Cater, “Nevermind that, why are you dyeing live animals? Those better be non-toxic dye and what are they even doing in a croquet tournament?”
“Don’t worry we use magic to change their colors, it’s totally safe.” The orange-haired boy reassured her, “And they are needed for hitting the balls, it’s all in the rules you see.”
“Okay, aside from the flamingos, now it’s coming into focus, Ace.” Deuce said, wanting to keep the ball rolling, “That tart you ate must have been for the Housewarden’s birthday. That explains his reaction!”   
“Hm? Oh, no, it’s not Riddle’s birthday.” Cater corrected his underclassmen.
“It’s not?” Ace asked, clearly done with this conversation, “Then whose birthday is it?”
 “It isn’t anyone’s birthday.” The orange-haired boy answered smiling cheekily at them, “Tomorrow is our dorm’s traditional unbirthday party. It’s a special tea party we throw when no one has a birthday—if the Housewarden feels like it.”
“And why would you do that?” Ace yelped.
“Again with the questions!” Cater cut him off, waving his magic pen around, “Listen, I need these roses to be red. Like yesterday. Can’t you guys help out with magic or something? Oh, but Ace is on magical house arrest and Percy is a total normie, so you two better stick to paint.”
“Hmph,” Percy gave him an airy laugh but her emerald green eyes remained cold upon the normie comment, “Well, this normie is not a member of your dorm so,” she said as she walked up to a nearby bench and sat down gracefully, “She doesn’t have to help with anything, meaning; she will just sit here in the shade while you boys do what you do.”
She wasn’t about to be tricked into doing anyone’s job for them, thank you very much.
“Recolor the roses with magic…” Deuce muttered to the unfamiliar practice nervously.
“Can’t say I’ve ever done this before,” Grim said unsurely, he could agree with his Housewarden and go sit in the corner, but he did want to try. He was going to be the best mage ever, he could do this with his eyes closed.
“Relax, it’ll be fine. You got this!” Cater encouraged his underclassmen, “But maybe do it before I lose my head? K-thankx!”
While Deuce and Grim were hilariously failing at their jobs by either turning the roses into the wrong color or literally setting them on fire. Percy calmly scratched Mimikyu’s chin, who was still glaring at the orange-haired boy.
“You really don’t like him, huh dear?” she asked her partner as she watched the boys. “Me too. he’s simply too superficial and smily.”
 “Red… Red… BAM!” Deuce tried to do the spell but yelped when the flower turned into the wrong primary color once again. “Wh-whoa! It turned blue?!”
“Change, o foul color! Change! AHA!” Grim chanted loudly, but he too failed to turn the white rose red. “BWAH! The rose caught on fire!”
Percy sighed at the idiocracy of her classmates and turned her head to stare deeper at the maze, but her eyes widened at the familiar sight of a Budew. The Bud Pokemon was just minding its business waddling inside the maze and just when she was about to go after it, Cater’s loud voice interrupted her train of thought.
“Wow!” the orange-haired boy awed at the boys’ failures. “You’re even less competent than I thought.”
“Yo, maybe you should just leave the roses white!” Ace snapped back at him, “They look perfectly pretty ‘n stuff to me.”
“It’s a matter of tradition.” Cater explained, “You can’t have an unbirthday party without the roses being red. And you can’t play croquet without seven-colored flamingos as mallets and a hedgehog for a ball. Oh, but of course, the roses need to be white when the garden flowers put on their spring concert. That’s absolutely crucial.”
“All your rules are completely insane!” Grim whined.
And Percy agreed with him. Kinda. The rules were odd sure but a day of just having a tea party and playing croquet with a weird version of Flamigos and whatever a hedgehog was, sounded very pleasant to her. She earned her living by battling super-powered creatures, playing croquet with them was nothing to that.
“They say the Queen of Hearts made up these rules herself—she was one of the Great Seven, you know. And Riddle is all about tradition. Probably more than previous Housewardens, T-B-H.” Cater told them cheerfully, but then he guiltily scratched the back of his head, “I’ll admit that he’s well… a bit extra.”
“Yeah, no kidding. I sure don’t have time for this nonsense.” Ace said finally realizing the time. “Is Riddle here? I gotta talk to him.”
“Yeah, probably.” Hummed the orange-haired boy, “But are you sure that’s wise? Did you even bring an apology tart to replace the one you ate?”
“Uh, no…?” the ginger scratched behind his ear, “I came here first thing in the morning!”
“Ah ah ah… That could be a problem.” Cater warned him, “Have you forgotten rule 53? ‘Stolen items must be replaced.’ If you’re not in compliance, I can’t let you in.”
“Are you serious?!” Ace argued.
“All dorm residents must obey the rules. If I let you slide, it would be off with my head next! I hate to say it, Ace, but I’m gonna need you to leave before Riddle spots you. Thanx.” The orange-haired boy got out his magic pen and was seemingly ready to fight.
“I… think this guy is for real.” Ace yelped turning to the rest of his group, “You guys, do something!”
“Why should WE do anything?” Deuce shouted back.
“C’mon, please! I can’t use magic! Hurry, he’s—“
Before he could finish Percy was already on her feet. She finally had a reason to beat that annoying fake smile off of the orange-haired boy’s face.
“Mimikyu, Shadow Ball!”
And before he knew it, a ball of black and purple energy with black static around it collided with Cater’s chest and sends him flying back.
When he managed to stand on his feet again, he somehow cloned himself.
“Hm, you’re spamming Double Team on me huh?” Not the most honorable of tactics but it is effective, “Well two can play that game. Mimikyu, Double Team then Wood Hammer!”
With the command of his trainer, Mimikyu’s body glowed white and he created multiple copies of himself then his and the copies’ stick-like tails grew larger and became surrounded by a whispy, dark-purple aura; they then strike their tails hard onto the Cater clones multiple times.
The copies tried to fight the Disguise Pokemon but ultimately his magic pen flew off of his hand, his copies disappeared and Cater was on his butt on the ground once again.
Percy picked up the pen from where it fell and pointed it to the orange-haired boy’s face with a cruel grin. “Did you have enough or would you like to try again?”
Cater gulped nervously, of course, what was he thinking? Even though she was magicless, she was a Housewarden. People don’t become Housewardens just because, they had to be powerful in some way. And her power was her familiars, she was a Beastmaster after all.
He saw how powerful her familiars were in those videos and he didn’t want to find out what else she got up her sleeve the hard way.
“Nope, the lesson learned,” he put his hands up in surrender smiling nervously, “but I still can’t let him in unless he comes back with a tart. Sorry.”
“Very well,” Percy dropped the pen on his lap and turned to the ginger, “Ace needs to find a tart.”
“What?!” Ace argued.
“It’s only fair.” She picked up Mimikyu from the floor and put her sunglasses back on as she turned around to walk back to the Mirror Chamber, “Now come on the class is about to start.”
“Do make sure to bring that tart next time, m’kay?” Cater waved as they left, “Buh-bye now!”

“Was that guy for real?!” Ace growled as they walked to the front of the dorm.
“He cloned himself, maybe he was using some kind of illusion magic?” Deuce guessed.
“So let me get this straight: we walked in there, totally tartless, but this dude still made us do that whole song and dance before throwing us out?” Ace summarised, “He just wanted to make us paint his stupid roses!”
“We sure look like a bunch of chumps.” Grim crossed his arms. “Wish Mimikyu scratched the hell out of him.”
  “You’re just gonna have to suck it up, and bring a tart next time gingernuts.” Percy said calmly,” I can only do so much for you. In the meantime pick up the pace the class is about to start.”
“Myah! I don’t wanna get a blemish on the first day of my glorious Night Raven education!” Grim said as he quickly climbed on Percy’s shoulder, “Shake a leg, chumps! To the classroom pronto!”
“Hey, so what class are you guys in, anyway?” Ace asked as they ran, “You’re freshmen too, right?”
“The Headmage said we’re in Class 1-A in his text.” The blonde girl answered.
“Hey, that’s the same one I’m in.” Deuce informed them, “We got Potionology for the first period.”
“Oh ho, yeah! That sounds awesome!” Grim cheered.

Do you know how hard it is to just choose 6!? I have so many pokemon I adore and cherish!! Dx But I did settle upon a few of my favs, and koraidon because I just love this big dopey sandwich obsessed pupper lizard that also doubles as transportation. Some runner ups tho would be giratina, lucario, dachsbun, aracanine, armarouge, primarina, and scorbunny. I'm a big sucker for dragon, grass, and ghost types lel

I'm an avid hater of bugs and arachnids but Pokemon has somehow gotten me so smitten with these lil critters. Like lookit them, they're just lil fellas, I even have a sableye plushie.
For the region I gotta go with Sinnoh. It stems alot from my nostalgia since the diamond and pearl games were my first ever pokemon games ( including pokemon ranger shadows of almia) I would play the heck out of those games. Loved doing the underground cavern exploration, the pokemon contests, the gen 4 pokemon overall, and definitely not crushing over my opponents/partners in the process coughcynthiarileymarniecough. AND PLATINUM TOO I LOVE THAT ONE. Even if they were like super slow at times >,> ( like yeah the remakes are faster but they just don't hit the same like they use to, I haven't even beaten it yet because it was that bad).

4. Dragapult- so. I did actually manage to get this pokemon in game and theyre a beast, but also their concept is hilarious and so i adore them in every evolution stage

I have been meaning to do this list for quite some time. I’m glad I waited till Generation 8 to do it since this list would be slightly different. Keep in mind this is my own personal list so some of your least favorites might be on this list, or you might have a totally different opinion all together. Since this is a top 10 some Pokemon didn’t get to make the list so...
Honorable Mentions: Espeon, Mightyena, Breloom, Gardevoir and Mega Gardevoir, Regigigas, Rockruff line, Cofagrigus, Diggersby, Minior, Drampa, Bewear, Slugma, Rowlet line, Lunala, Altaria, Absol and Delphox.
Top 10 Favorite Shiny Pokemon
10) Zygarde 50% Form
This is such a lovely shiny. It takes the boring black and ugly radioactive green of the original color scheme, and turns it into this crisp and clean sparkling white and minty green. Simply breathtaking.
9) Giratina
I love how this shiny really embraces the ghost typing of Giratina. The color scheme is terrifyingly beautiful, if you will. I usually like shinies that take dull gray and black color schemes and soften them up or change them to a white or silver color. This is hands down my favorite legendary shiny. So gorgeous!~
8) Sableye
I am not normally one to like the color of metallic gold, but something about this shiny just looks so stunning in it. I like having the chest gem changed to green because it gives the color scheme a sort of greed feel to it, and that just makes the shiny even better.
7) Slurpuff
This shiny is not only cute but also delicious. The colors are so playful, if you will, and I like how Slurpuff goes from being strawberry and vanilla to cherry chocolate. Overall it is a tasty and fun shiny, and I simply adore it!~
6) Metagross
This shiny is so sleek and badass looking! Silver is one of my favorite metallic colors, and the fact that it is accentuated with a nice golden yellow that stands out real nicely to the silver really earns it some brownie points since those are some of my favorite colors put together. I just feel like the original is just, well, boring, and in the shiny Metagross just looks like this steel juggernaut! There’s a reason this is on a lot of top shiny lists. It’s just so fucking cool!
5) Rapidash
Usually Ponyta gets more attention and praise for its shiny, but honestly I feel like the blue flame shinies are just so… cliche and not in a good way. What I like much more in Rapidash’s shiny is that the charcoal lavender looks so striking and elegant. Overall it’s just a pleasant shiny to look at it and it has always been one of my favorites~
4) Ninetales
This is hands down one of the most beautiful shinies I have ever seen. The colors are just lovely. I simply love how beautiful but deadly the vibe of this shiny gives off. It is easily my favorite Generation 1 shiny of all times!~
3) Milotic
This shiny is just down right GORGEOUS!~ There is not much I can really say other than that because it’s true. I just love it so much.
2) Ampharos/Ribombee/Furret
These three are on here since I couldn’t choose between them, with them all here for the same reason: well-made pink shinies. I think all of their shinies look good and even make the Pokemon cuter *especially Furret*. These are much higher on the list because I’ve liked some of these shinies since they debuted in Generation 2 and it would be a shame not to put them on the list as well as any lower.
1) Alcremie
And here it is the obligatory black shiny. I spent such a long time trying to hatch one of these! It took me almost 600 eggs before I finally got one! I had the candy and nickname already picked out as well as I was saving the mushrooms for the Gigantamax Soup I was going to give it for when it finally hatched. This took so long but it was worth it! It is literally a cookies-n-cream shiny and I love that! This shiny overall just does everything right for me to where it deserves its place on this list, and I can’t wait to use it in a future playthrough!~

So I did an analysis of my “Catch ‘Em All” Pokemon Card Binder...
...in order to determine what cards I had and what cards I needed. The point of the “Catch ‘Em All” binder is to have at least 1 of every single Pokemon there is - not to complete sets or hunt holos or “ex”s or “EX”s or “GX”s or full arts or whatever. I just one one of all 893* Pokemon. (*there are 893 pokemon as of this writing.) 
The thing is, I want the “original sets” for generations 1-3. That is to say, I don’t need ALL of EVERY set from gens 1-3, but I want the cards to be of the original sets. So for generation 1** that is: Base, Base 2, Fossil, and Jungle. For generation 2** that is: Neo Destiny, Neo Genesis, Neo Discovery, and Neo Revelations. For generation 3 that is the four sets in the e-series, and the 17 sets in the ex ruby and sapphire series.
(**I am also collecting the WoTC Black Star promos from gen 1, the Rocket set from gen 1, and the Southern Islands set from gen 2. These are in my collections binder, however, not my Catch ‘Em All binder. I will likely go on to collect the Gym Heroes and Gym Challenge sets after finishing Team Rocket and Southern Islands...WoTC Black Star Promos will take a while).
For generation 4 and onwards, there are WAY too many sets to be that specific.
Under the cut is my list/analysis of the cards that I need to complete my Catch ‘Em All binder. If you have any of the cards below and are willing to trade/sell for reasonable prices - usually 10-20% of TCGPlayer for more common cards or ebay recently sold for rarer cards...according to the reddit and forums I trade on - please, hit me up!
I already have all of the cards I need from generations 1 and 2. That is, one of each pokemon. And I actually have all of generation 1 fossil and jungle cards, plus a mixture of base and base 2. For generation 2, I don’t have all the cards from every set, and will probably pick up a few more here and there as I see them, but I’m no actively seeking. But I have every pokemon. It also includes card series, such as those listed above (and some others!) as well as my Pikachu, Meowth, Eevee, Vulpix, Ninetales, and Umbreon card collections, as well as a third binder that is a reverse holo binder, where I put all the reverse holos I have (as long as I have a different one, either a second reverse holo or a non-holo, in my Catch ‘Em All binder).
I’m usually pretty willing to trade reverse holos, and there are definitely some cards in my collections binder that I am willing to trade as well.

Pokemon Spotlight: Sableye
Good Morning/Afternoon/Evening!
My name is Hidden and today I’ll be spotlighting my personal favourite pokemon, what better way to start a series of pokemon spotlights, eh?
So today I will be covering Sableye, the Darkness Pokemon!
Sableye is a Dark/Ghost type introduced in gen 3, where it could be discovered lurking in Granite Cave. This pokemon was the first Dark/Ghost type, which until gen 6 had no weaknesses, making it a really fun typing to play with. Sableye was blessed in gen 5, as it was granted the fantastic ability Prankster, which gives priority to Status moves, making it considerably more viable as its main two abilities are trash.
But enough with the chitchat, lets have a looksee at exactly how good Sableye is! This will be using gen 8 Sableye, but gen 7 Sableye will have occasional mentions since Sw/Sh did change things about Sableye.
1) Stats: So Sableye isnt exactly good stat wise. I mean its OK but its mediocre. Boasting a Base Stat Total (BST) of 380, Distributed as 50/75/75/65/65/50 (HP/Attack/Defense/SpecialAttack/SpecialDefense/Speed), its hard to see that Sableye could be viable but with its typing of Ghost/Dark, this was balanced by its lack of weaknesses, until gen 6, but by then Sableye had Prankster.
2) Abilities: So Sableyes primary abilities, Stall and Keen Eye are honestly awful. Keen Eye prevents accuracy loss and Stall means Sableye moves last in the turn. I dont quite understand the purpose of Stall but lets just push those to the side as we cover Sableyes Hidden Ability (HA), Prankster. Prankster is an extraordinary ability that makes Status Moves have +1 Priority, so moves like Will o’ Wisp and Quash go first. Sableye isnt the only user of Prankster of course, but in my opinion it makes the best use of it.
3) Movepool: Sableye’s movepool caters deeply towards Prankster, providing lots of Status moves and relatively little actual power. For power, Sableye gets Foul Play (Which we’ll discuss later), Shadow Ball, Psychic, Sucker Punch, Poltergeist (Another one for later discussion) and Power Gem. This means Sableye can dish out damage but with that 75 attack stat it wont actually be doing much. Status wise however, Sableye gets access to Nasty Plot, Trick, Quash, Will o’ Wisp, Recover, Taunt, Torment, Metronome and Substitute. All these moves can be mean with Prankster.
4) Mega: We can’t discuss Sableye without discussing its Mega. Back in gen 7 Sableye had a mega, which added a +100 to its BST and turned Sableyes meagre 380 into a 480 distributed as 50/85/125/85/115/20, and giving it Magic Bounce, which reflects any status move used on it back unto the opponent. For example, if the opponent used Stealth Rocks on Mega Sableye, the rocks would be rebounded onto the opponents side of the field! Mega Sableye made for a defensive powerhouse if used correctly, and even worked offensively when Trick Room was in effect.
5) Sets: Sableye’s movepool and Prankster makes it open to a wide array of different competitive sets, and I’ll be showing you the currently most viable one (according to Smogon) and two sets that I baked up in the lab to be as chaotic as humanly possible.
Defensive (Smogon)
Sableye @ Leftovers Ability: Prankster EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD Bold Nature - Foul Play - Recover - Will-O-Wisp - Encore
This set clearly makes use of Prankster to seriously impede any offensive powerhouse. I dont quite understand Foul Play being here, as Foul Play deals more damage the higher the opponents attack stat and Will o’ Wisp burns the opponent, which halves their attack stat? I ain’t the competitive genius so what would I know? I just like this gremlin alot.
Physical Chaos (Hidden’s Set)
Sableye @ Choice Band   Ability: Prankster   EVs: 248 HP / 8 Atk / 252 Def   Impish Nature   - Shadow Sneak   - Foul Play   - Trick   - Recover
This sets goal is simple, Give an opponent who doesnt want the Choice Band a Choice Band using Trick, this is normally a special attacker like Roserade who just tried to set up, and then Foul Play. Foul Play will do high damage due to the newfound high attack stat. Shadow Sneak is just nice Priority and STAB (Same Type Attack Bonus) and Recover gives you longevity.
(UPDATE: Foul Play doesnt increase in damage based on the choice band, but you are still stealing a powerful item and giving them trash in exchange)
Special Chaos (Hidden’s Set)
Sableye @ Choice Specs   Ability: Prankster   EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD   Calm Nature   - Poltergeist  - Fling   - Trick   - Recover
This set fills a similar goal, but with different results. Heres the gist of it, say your opponent as an Assault Vest, which boosts its special defense in exchange for preventing it from using status moves. This hurts Sableye, who needs status to work. Solution? Throw the vest back at the opponent when you steal it. Assault Vest Fling does a solid 80 base power, so its certainly nice. But now you’ve used Fling, how do you do damage? Simple, Poltergeist. Poltergeist was one of the many new moves added in the Isle of Armor DLC, which in my opinion added so much to competitive pokemon, I love it. Poltergeist is a base 110 power Ghost move that only works if the opponent is holding an item. Thanks to Sableye, The opponent is now holding an item, and you can punish it for daring to hold your precious specs!
And that is Sableye covered. I didnt cover a Mega Sableye set because despite Showdown and the toxic fanbase’s begging, Megas are unlikely to return with the Dynamax meta and if they did it would tank competitive, since Rayquaza is confirmed returning. Dex Entry: While it shares close appearance with Regional Sevipers, Condose has no venom, and relies on a mixture of mimicry and playing dead to survive. This makes them prime prey for Regional Zangoose though.

Ability: Strong Jaw
Dex: Evolved from regional Meowths, these Pokemon have in greed and aggression. Decorating large canines with gems and riches swiped from defeating opposing Sapurr out in the wild.
Moves: Hyper Fang, Crunch, Crystal Crush, Thunder Fang.
Signature Move: Crystal Crush. Rock Type, Physical. The Pokemon uses it’s long tusks grab and hold the opponent. High Critical Hit Chance, Lowers opponents evasion.
Persian. Lvl. 76
The Classy Cat Pokemon
Type: Normal
Ability: Technician
Dex: While not native to the sandy regions of Tagra, Persian have found a spot in the high society of the gambling scene, usually seen walking side by side to those ontop.
Moves: Power Gem, Payday, Fury Swipes, Nasty Plot

Ability: Technician
Dex: Unlike their cousins, Alolan Persians are found in back alley dealings, for protection, or intimidation.

Ability: Strong Claws
Dex: These pokemon are seen side by side with bodyguards and other people needing muscle. Mostly used for intimidation factor.

The Heartless Pokemon
Type: Electric/Fighting
Ability: Speed Fighter, when using a fist or punching attack, there is 10% chance of using it twice.
Dex: One of several lab made pokemon, this Bipedal cat is an incomplete prototype. Without vital organs, this pokemon relies on electricity to keep it’s body moving. It it ever runs out electricity,it will enter a comatose state, then die.

One the Villainous Leader Scale, he’s somewhere between Ghetsis and Giovanni.
Started the Sable’s Eye Casino with inheritance he gained when his parents passed away from a “Mysterious Illness”
Knows people in several regions, including Piers in Galar and Courtney in Hoenn
Piers’s abusive ex, it’s a long story, but it ended with Piers stabbing him in the eye so it’s okay
Don’t talk about his sister.
Truest way to describe him is Handsome Jack, Giovanni, and Ghetsis blended together into a smoothie.
Leader of Team Crystal, head of Sable’s Eye Casino.
Short tempered and Sadistic, he has a knack for manipulation that bleeds into his team and battle style. He seems to favor “creepy” pokemon, bug types and ghosts filling his team.

The Water Bubble Pokemon
Type: Water/Bug
Ability: Water Bubble
Dex: While hard to find above ground, Araquanoid are one of many species that call the underground caves of Tagra their home. And one of the most most dangerous, waiting in under water lakes to strike out and attack pokemon foolish enough to try for a drink.
Moves: Magic Room, Giga Drain, Aqua Ring, Soak
Gourgeist, Super Size
The Pumpkin Pokemon
Type: Ghost/Grass.
Ability: Frisk
Dex: The largest size of Gourgeist, Super Sized are seen wandering the desert, dragging groups or lone wanders to farther and farther out until the one(s) they’re holding perish.
Moves: Trick-Or-Treat, Phantom Force, Trick, Foul Play.
Galvantula
The Electric Spider Pokemon
Type: Bug/Electric
Ability: Compound Eyes
Dex: In the deep caves, Galvantula lay out large webs to ensnare prey that bumbles about the caverns.
Moves: Rain Dance, Electroweb, Electroc Ball, Thunder
Runerigus
The Grudge Pokemon
Type: Ground/Ghost
Ability: Wandering Ghost
Dex: Runerigus are not found naturally in Tagra, but some people have them transported over as a terrifying intimidation factor.
Moves: Earthquake, Will-o-wisp, Hex, Night Shade.

Top 5 Slot Stealers of Gen VIII
So, it’s time to discuss the slots in my Top 5 pokémon that Gen VIII stole! Each type title will be linked, so that you may go and view my top 5 Primary and Secondary Gen I-VII pokémon. You’ll notice I did my top 5 for both primaries and secondaries of that typing, but in this, I’m sticking only to primary slots. 
For my Steel Type

Perrserker was an instant favorite as soon as I saw it. It’s one of the very few in this lineup that actually took my number one slot for all time fav of its type. It’s really got a good thing going for it, and that’s saying something, because I do not like Persian. Perrserker surpassed Jirachi, Dialga, Klefki, Beldum, AND Mega Steelix.
Normal and Dark Type

Generation 8 did not introduce any Normal type pokémon that piqued my interest well enough. However, it did introduce Grimmsnarl and THAT... IS A Good choice. A unique typing AND A WEIRD ??? HAIR??? MUSCLE MOTIF? ALRight! alright, into it. Very strange pokémon, very god design. Ultimately Grimmsnarl landed number 4 on my top 5 Primary Dark Type. Grimmsnarl trumped Hydriegon and Houndoom, but could not beat Guzzlord, Umbreon, nor Mega Sableye
Fire Type

Let me tell you, if it weren’t for Charizard’s nostalgia factor, Centiskorch would be 100000% number 1. I love centipedes, and my ONE stipulation in Gen VIII was that I got a centipede. Like, not a horse-centipede- a straight up centipede. FOLX. They provided. I adore Centiskorch, and it makes it was to number 2 on my Primary Fire top 5. Centiskorch took the place over Turtonator, Blacephalon, Magmortar, and Mega Blaziken.
Fighting Type

Like I laid out in the post, I hate the fighting type, oftentimes the designs are just not my thing. However. HOWEVER. Gen VIII put out some of my all time favorite fighting types ever. Grapploct took my number 1 slot easily and Falinks was RIGHT behind it at number 2. I really wanted an octopus this Gen, and I was sorely disappointed to see it was fighting type, but we can forgive it, because it’s really very good. These guys collectively beat Lucario, Marshadow, Mega Lucario, Passimian, and Hitmonlee.
Fairy Type

For as much emphasis as Gamefreak put on the Glimwood Tangle, I thought there would be a bit more of a fairy focus? I guess it was really only Galarian Rapidash? Anyway, I love Zacian Hero of Many Battles, and it is a solid number 2 in my Top 5 Primary Fairy Type. Zacian claimed a spot above Granbull, Xerneas, Sylveon, and Snubbull, but unfortunately, I couldn’t bring it to number 1 over Aromatisse. I know that sounds unbelievable to the average playER I KNOW IT SOUNDS CRAzy but it’s the truth.
Psychic Type

HOOOOOO BOYYYY DO I love Galarian Slowpoke. Why? No real idea. I mean, love how it’s low to the ground and how its tail drags behind it? It’s, in my opinion, very likely that it will evolve into some kind of poison secondary type (my favorite type), so I’m excited about that and I will 1000% be looking forward to the reveal. Psychic type is a REALLY good type, to me, so it only made it to slot number 3, but that’s pretty substantial considering how many psychic type pokémon I like over other types. This little guy beat Necrozma, Dusk Mane Necrozma, and Defense Forme Deoxys, but could not overtake Mewtwo nor Reuniclus. A babey. A smol child. 
Poison Type

Eternatus’ menu sprite is ... insanely huge, they really went all out with sprite sizes on the switch. Several of these had to be trimmed to fit into my little boxes. Although, for The Darkest Day itself, it ought to not fit into a small box... it is, after all, absolutely massive. Poison is my favorite typing, as I’ve said 2930829 times- and man... when I saw the design for Eternatus I was absolutely M I N D  B L O W N. It is VERY much up my alley. Despite this, it only ended up as my number 4 for Primary Poison. Eternatus took over Dragalge and Garbodor, but stayed behind Nidorino, Alolan Muk, and Salandit. Still solid... not bad at all. 
Flying Type

Of course, there are not very many primary flying types to choose from, but Gen VIII really just- added them without discrimination, it’s my opinion that this will be the new norm. Corviknight ended up as my number 3 Primary Flying Type pokémon, behind the Noivern family and in front of Tornadus’ formes.
Dragon Type

Uhhhhh duh. How many top lists do you think this spiritual UNIT made this year? A ton, is the answer. Everyone loves Dragapult, and for good reason. It’s a really neat type combination, and also is ???? extremely OP. In addition to that its freaking TAIL? Is CLEAR? yeah, solid design, love it. Dragapult outsped Mega Altaria, Kommo-o and Zekrom and couldn’t quite beat Zygarde 10% and Zygarde 50% meaning it’s placed as number three on my fav primaries.
Ghost, Water, Ice, and Grass Types

Whew, that skips a lot of types. Unfortunately there is not a single Ghost pokémon that beats even my number 5 spot, Altered Giratina. Nor my number 5 water, Clawitzer... oh... nor my number 5 ice, Bergmite. Yikes! However, claiming number 3 spot in my top 5 Grass Primary, we have Flapple! Flapple beat Torterra, Decidueye and Breloom and could not surpass Kartana nor Jumpluff. Jumpluff??? I know, it’s a nostalgia thing, I think. For the record! Appletun is probably at number 6. But!!! That’s not what we’re discussing, so too bad.
Bug, Rock, and Ground Type

Don’t read the bug post where I said “this will definitely have some replaced” because it’s embarrassing now... so please don’t read those words that I said. I think I was thinking of Frosmoth and Centiskorch, but neither are primary bug, so... keep in mind, gen 8 introduced 3 primary bugs... 3............. bugs..... 3.... that’s nothing- and unfortunately, they didn’t even beat my number 5 spot, Golisopod. Likewise, rock is a really solid typing for me, so the threshold was my number 5: Cradily. I really freaking like Cradily, I do NOT know why. I have NO reason. Leave me alone. As far as ground goes. Yeah. We had a bit of a SHAKE up here. Runerigus, counterpart to the horrible Cofagrigus, somehow WIPED the platter clean and took the number one spot, surpassing Gliscor, Krookodile, Sandle, Trapinch, and Sandslash. But wait! Then it’s pre-evolved form, Galarian Yamask, also claimed spot 4- passing Trapinch and Sandslash. What a world! If someone had told me one year ago that Yamask was one of my favorite Ground types I’d’ve been... well... I’d’ve been very understandably confused... 
Electric Type

Duh. Also. I don’t understand why they made ToxtricitY LOOK LIKE THIS. It? Is sexy? Why? Why is it sexy? I want to be put down immediately for falling prey to this...??? Nonsense... Regardless, I can’t get enough of the awesome type combination that Amped Up Toxtricity (and Low Key) present. I think they really strove for an odd thing and I think it paid off. Amped Up Toxtricity beats Xurkitree and Elektross. I couldn’t say I like it better than Therian Thundurus, Ampharos, and Helioptile, though. 
So that wraps up and finalizes my Top 5 Lists for now. I do actually think the Galarian Elemental Birds are gonna shake this apart, but, whatever, we’ll cross that bridge when we get there. I also wonder how many more new pokémon they may introduce with the Expansion Passes.

So, I don't really have month/day precise birthdays for my ocs? :'D I don't even know how that would work on SW and I suck at star signs so… I can say Illyrio is born in 3682 BBY and that makes him 42 during the events of Makeb (which is the year he meets Muhn, if that works as a reference), and that I fancy calling him a Scorpio cause I guess it kinda fits. 
2. Gender Identity
Cis man. It never really went further for him, he always was comfortable that way.
3. Orientation and Relationship status (single, taken (by who?), crush (on who?))
Bisexual. Married to Muhren in 3637 BBY in canon universe; alternatively fancying his mess agent Blakk in other ones and .. well, both in some others. >>
4. Race and Ethnicity
Human, in SW standards, and then I couldn't really go in many more details 'cause, well, I still kinda want it to apply to his universe rather than trying to stick Earth labels and I don't have a clear faceclaim… let's stick to "not white".

He's 1m77 aka 5'9". He's not overly muscular, but still very much in shape. He has a pretty athletic body even if he's essentially built for agility.

He was born on Ziost, in a slave breeding and training facility. He lived some years in an apartment at Dromund Kaas but now has set residence in his mansion on Voss, despite his work not often allows him to spend long periods of time there.

They have a number of scars, most prominent being the slave marking on his face, the whip scaring on his back and the lightsaber mark on his chest.
11. Do they have any notable features, like horns, tails, or so on?
Aside from the slave markings and, I guess, the white hair (not that much of a significant feature when alien races are involved :'D ) he doesn't really have any, no.
12. Own any pets?
Nope, thank the Force, he doesn't have to deal with his daughter's Nexus anymore and he's happier this way. 
13. Have any kids?
Yes, his daughter Khatyrkite, that he had at 23 and adopted when she was 7.
14. Can they cook? Can they bake?
No. Let's leave it to that. :’D
15. Can they sing? Can they dance?
They can sing but it's not that easy to make them. They can formally dance with dignity, but not much else. Too rigid.
16. Can they drive?
Yes, but prefers to be driven around.

Yes, double-bladed lightsaber and Force training. When younger he was also quite dangerous bare-handed but he hasn't trained that skill in a while.

Not really… his lightsaber, I suppose. Old beads for his braid. But he isn't emotionally attached to many of his belongings.

27. What’s their family like? Who’s in it? What’s their relationship with them?
Before Muhn his family was basically only his daughter, Khatyrkite, and they were close, despite Illyrio's initial efforts not to be so. She grew on him and managed to slowly but surely make his fear more of an after-though. He didn't want to get attached to someone so easy to love. An alien child with no practical education thrown into the Academy of Korriban? Khatyrkite had to work hard to prove she could do it. And he did make her work, considering it necessary that she could prove and defend herself without her father's title to protect her. They have great affection for each other, even of it's often left unspoken, and even if not as strong as before, they still have their Force bond to prove it, even to each other.
28. Are they literate? Did they go to school? How long? What level? 
They are literate, and learned most of his basic knowledge during slave training. The rest he took up keeping company to the young Master during his studies and generally during slave life. Then there was the Sith Academy and then he was taken as an Apprentice and Abraxas finished his education. He learned the rest on the way.
29. What was childhood like?
Not much of a childhood, let's say that. Studies, collars, biological engineering, slave training directed into obedience and alienation to self.
30. What was adolescence like?
Spent serving as a company slave in a high ranking noble family in Ziost. Let's say stunted.
31. What’s their current main conflict?
Finding any peace between overworking and starting to let go but risking losing status/power and a certain state of security born from habit.
32. What steps have they taken to overcome this conflict
Trusting more of his emotional baggage, vulnerability and work on his husband.
33. How have they changed over time?
He has become less.. unstable. Sith training following his slave one had pushed on many of the emotions he had been repressing beforehand, so, well, it made for a powerful Sith, but not much of an emotionally stable individual. He got in touch with more of himself and on what truly he wanted to be for his Muhn. 
For Fun
34. What’s their room look like right now?
It's a mix between his rich but organised deco and Muhn's pretty clutter and his plants. Rich, elegant colors overall, generally elegant but comfortable looking, cushions, big bed, big windows, woods, a library. His room is his comfort place, really, and probably one of the rooms he spends more time in aside from his training room and the gardens.
35. What are they like as a friend?
Bad. Bad-ish.
36. What are they like as a partner?
He.. gets better at it, given a little time. >> The sex is good.
37. Do they have any phobias?
They are not fond of deep waters, but can manage them. They detest Force inhibition devices.

They haven't gone in one in… dam forever. They wouldn't know at this point, really. It's a mix between wanting to be in a place where he wouldn't be recognized and his desire to keep his status and power close.

Rich, hot, spiced coffee.
40. What time do they go to bed, usually?
Depends, they are very used to an irregular sleep pattern.
41. What’s their morning routine like?
Depending on how much time they have, the very least composes shower and a minimum of beauty care, they usually pick their clothes the day before. They usually snack something quick if they have the time and take a caff or directly a stim, if need be.
42. What’s the dumbest thing your character’s done?
That's not to be discussed here.

Well, the Inquisitor storyline from STWOR, certainly, tho I didn't end up keeping much of it. Aside from that nothing really comes to mind but I'm sure I'm missing stuff. :/ In six years he has been through stuff.

We struggle with other people's expectations and we don't want to be seen as weak or exploitable, I suppose. For how different we are I suppose the rest is pretty more obvious, but, mhn, I blame myself much more quickly, despite my barriers, so, well, instead of killing people I just get sad, I suppose. :'3

I expected a hot, sassy, dark side playthrough. I guess I didn't expect the angst, the fluff and the attachment. :'33

Grew up in a Coruscanti orphanage, now resides on Nar Shadda.

Aside from their natural Togruta markings, nope, and if they were to get them/had got them in the past, wouldn't hesitate to have them removed.

Lekku and Montrals? :'D they are curved in the front so they do catch the eye.
12. Own any pets?
No. They didn't have the position for one for a long time and then never really gotten to it. Probably scared they would do a bad job taking care of one.

Nope.
14. Can they cook? Can they bake?
They can't really, no. :'3 they can manage a survivalist meal but they essentially rely on other to get food.
15. Can they sing? Can they dance?
They can't really sing, but it's not a passion of their so they never really did any practice worth of it. They can dance, but only a selection of simple things, essentially for their job. They don't mind dancing casually, and are pretty good at it. At least, they are pretty to look at doing so.

They can, they shouldn't, but they can. :'D

They are better at ranged combat, but they can throw a hell of a fight nonetheless.

I'm not sure if they have anything of Mikawlas, or even of their orphanage life.. they spent too much time on the street, if they managed to salvage something during those years it would certainly be a precious possession for them.

Taking care of themself with beauty products or with a mani-pedi is a luxury they couldn't afford for a long time and it does marvels to their mood so they indulge in gladly it when they have some me time. Also they have a sometimes strained relationship with their looks, so making themself pretty makes them happy. Aside from that they like simple pad games, to run and spend some time in shooting ranges.

They like shiny, they like precious fabrics, gold, their heels, shorts, skirts and dresses, some fashionable frills and classy, eye-catching outfits.

They like experimental foods, jellies and escargots the most probably. If they could only drink vodka and lemon sprite they would. Also champagne.

Aside from sex? Mhn. The thrill of the hunt, maybe. But both of those things have been incorporated in jobs for a long time, so, well, aside from having a particular relationship with both, defining them "guilty" pleasures is complicated. I guess they like being pampered, sexually or not, so there's that.
Storytime
27. What’s their family like? Who’s in it? What’s their relationship with them?
They don't have a family, nor good memories from the orphanage, so, probably the closest they got to family was, first, at Madame's institute, where they really come in touch with a positive collective/community. They started coming in touch with themself and with others in a way that was more than family than ever before. Of course they wanted to rebuild that with the Golden Rose, even if it became with times more "officious" with the number of workers and clients and regulations that came with it. But they do want people to feel safe with the Rose, and want them to feel at least a little bit like family.
28. Are they literate? Did they go to school? How long? What level? 
They are literate, and studied at the orphanage until they left, so, they are not very knowledgeable after that. They didn't continue studies, only tried to pick up some decent bases to start being more independent after Madame picked them up. They worked hard to be functional as owner of the Golden Rose, and that's where they are at. 
29. What was childhood like?
They weren't very happy at the orphanage, didn't felt like they belonged. It ended up with them running away, so...
30. What was adolescence like?
A mix between rebellious orphanage life, naive Nar Shadda and bling/bling fascination and the basically spoiled, responsibility-free life as a Crime Lord doll. It was.. maybe not as practically formative as it could have, overall.
31. What’s their current main conflict? I'm sorry, I'm getting too stuck with some of those deep© questions, I'm giving them up for now. :'3

33. How have they changed over time?
They became more self-aware, more conscious of themself and their choices. More independent, and such, with a bigger presence, allowing them to also create better and stronger bonds with people. With a helping hand they started shedding all the bad preconceptions they had on their life, even if it really took years and years to come to terms with some truth about themself and their past, but well, they got back on their feet. Now they have a house, they pay bills, they own and handle a host house that oversees many people that Apate wants to protect. So, well, I can't really tell how they changed, cause they didn't, not really. It was still them, all along, but I guess they own themself a bit more every day.
For Fun
34. What’s their room look like right now?
It's a pretty big room, but essentially on the minimalist side. Very clean and shiny, with its marble floors and big window on the High District. It's not cluttered and Apate doesn't spend that much time in it, but when they do they find it more peaceful for it to be essential but pretty and expensive looking in its decor and composition.
35. What are they like as a friend?
Devoted, sometimes harsh and too up-front, but also generous and affectionate.
36. What are they like as a partner?
They haven't had much experience in that field yet, so, maybe, distant, even if not on purpose. They are not really used to the practicality of building ties so ever-present and strong, they are still very much used to deal with things on their own. But very sweet, very tactile, very inquisitive, playful.
37. Do they have any phobias?
Of losing themself in someone's idea of them. Again.
38. Did/do they go anywhere special for vacations?
They haven't taken a vacation in ages, they want to quite bad. Anything different from Nar Shadda would be welcome, but they probably want the pampering vacation treatment. They do have an affinity for water, because of their ex, so maybe somewhere they could swim a bit.
39. Your character walks into a cafe. What do they order?
Everyday something different, they don't like caff but drinks it daily so spicing things up is their way. Now it's usually Terjam that buys caff for them, so they enjoy being surprised.
40. What time do they go to bed, usually?
It depends, the Rose usually "opens" late in the morning and closes later at night, but it depends if there are events or not, and if Apate has plans or not. They are more akin to the night life, and Nar Shadda Never really sleeps, so it's not unusual for them and some friends to have late evening shopping sprees or date nights or such. It will depend on how much work there had been during the day.
41. What’s their morning routine like?
They take their time. They wake up slow and then stretch and drink water and then shower, quick breakfast with either milk/yogurt/sweet cheese and some fruits while listening to radio/the news, and then make up and dressing up and then to the Golden Rose where they take a coffee and some pastries with Terjam before starting work around 10:00.
42. What’s the dumbest thing your character’s done?
Thinking it was a good idea to escape to Nar Shadda with no money or friends or knowledge of the city at the peak of 15 years old.

Mhn, something lively and clear, but with a solid accompaniment, like some piano. Maybe a discrete but deep beat underneath, like almost a techno base.

There's been two. One when Mikawlas died, and Apate found themself mourning, furious, hurt and dependent on the little skills they had to survive from there on. The second was when Madame picked them up and helped them detox and then got them back on their way to manage themself independently and redefine boundaries in a way that could better connect them to themself and a thriving comfort zone.
48. What was their lowest point? What was their highest point?
Apate almost lost themself, and skipped many steps of their emotional and practical development growing up in not-so-healthy environments. They never really had a family, they rushed and yet mellowed through their adolescence without any real friends of their age, they suffered a big loss pretty young and then started living off favours and on the street without really a support and foundation to evolve. 
Then they got back to their feet, and found their ambitious drive again, and created the Golden Rose and wasn't that just *chef kiss*.
49. What are some themes tied to your character’s story?
Former drug addiction, stunt in personal growth and past trauma being overcome, sex work and its relation to their own sex drive and desire, curiosity and extroversion, sex positivism, grooming, fashion and beauty care.

Unsuspected assassin, Diva, fashion expert, sexy and capable, sass master.

Mhnhnjnnnn I dunno. There are pieces here and there but.. nothing that flashes in my mind.

We like shiny things. They can pull it off.

A character for smutty action, and I kinda got myself into angst but also a more vivacious and free-willed character I expected.

On to the next challenge. Phoebe, the Ghost Pokémon trainer. There aren't many ghosts, but Agatha in Kanto was also labeled Ghost trainer, so...

What I expected was a long fight, which I eventually would win, what I thought inevitable.
But it came in other ways. Her team consists of three Pokémon, two of which are there double. She starts off with a Dusclops. It exerts its Pressure.
That will not be fun. It means that I use double as much PP as moves.
And it starts with Protect. And then another Protect. And then another. What. Why is this ugly ghost able to use that move three times successfully in a row? I just wasted 6 PP for nothing. As if I wasn't pissed off about that from the training in Victory Road.
Then it starts using Shadow Punch. And I just... I hadn't had anything against that. Every single one of my Pokémon were unable to get far in this fight.
I eventually knocked the first Dusclops out, but lo and behold, out came a second. At a higher level. With the stronger Shadow Ball. It also was faster than my Medicham, so that didn't help me.
The battle was lost. I lost the league challenge.
What to do now? Retire as one of the few trainers to beat all of the gym leaders? As trainer who reached stage two of the league? And by the way saved all of the region from simultaneously drowning and burning.
Advance to the next region and try my luck in Sinnoh? Tuck in the tail and abscond this region?
Not just no, hell no. I'm not one to give up that easily. One lost match doesn't mean anything.
It only meant, I had to grind. In Victory Road. Ugh, I'm already frustrated.
But wait. I made it to stage 2, didn't I. That means, I can defeat stage 1, meaning Sidney.
I can train my Pokémon on the motherloving Elite Four. Well, one of them at least.
And that I did. I ran through him quite some times, never using any items in battle or after.
Once I got all my Pokémon around level 45 (the level on which I defeated Red in the last installment, mind you), I tried again.
I beat Sidney one last time, then healed my team and advanced towards Phoebe.
She used the same tactics as before. But I didn't.
I started with Ezri. Used Calm Mind about three or four times. Same with Double Team. Had to heal her, cause the Dusclops started getting antsy and used Shadow Punch. Only this time she was strong enough to withstand.
Psychic got rid of the first Dusclops and Banette. Then came Sableye. Another dark type. I'm surprised that Sidney hadn't had one of those.
But, Ezri not only knows Psychic, Calm Mind and Double Team. She also knows Magical Leaf Thunderbolt. Which, at +3 or +4 was enough to oneshot Sableye.
She had another Dusclops and Banette, but...

Don't ever let a Gardevoir set up on you with Calm Mind. It's devastating. But this time, much to my pleasure.
I learned. I shouldn't take my team's successes for granted. I still need to devise tactics and successfully employ them.
With this said, I'm advancing to stage 3 now.

I know its likely that nobody will care, but all my irritation at Gamefreak over their... controversial (to say the least!!!) decision regarding the new gen had me go back and look over my near living dex of pokemon. [Definitely drew some inspiration from the Pokemon Sableye for the look of this one. The boons and banes are new, and gave me the opportunity to refer to the real world belief that cobalt and nickel were iron that was transformed or replaced by sinister entities.]
Knocker CR 3 CN Fey Skittering just at the edge of your vision is an odd little man, its body disproportionate to its overlong limbs and large oval head. Its skin is a uniform bluish-gray color and eyes that glitter like gems peer from an otherwise featureless face. The creature clutches a large pick in its clawed hands and smiles with wide, flat teeth.
Playful natives of the Darklands, the capricious fey known as knockers simultaneously pull pranks on miners and keep them from serious harm. Much as dryads are to trees, knockers are to the rich veins of gems and precious metals that run through the earth. Although they are not tied to any particular location of mineral wealth, knockers congregate wherever such treasures are found to appreciate their beauty and keep it for themselves. Jealous creatures, they do not feel that mortal races are worthy of the riches of the land, and thus do their best to prevent miners from reaching their goals. Voices and sinister sounds in the darkness, sudden extinguishing of light sources and a good old fashioned jump scare are among the tactics knockers use to repel intruders. Particularly persistent miners, or those who prove to be good sports, are often rewarded by being allowed access to gems or metals (although not the best, of course). Knockers do not wish any particular harm on their competition, and will often use lethal force against the monsters of the Darklands that do. After all, if the miners were dead, who would they have to play with?
Knockers are not particularly social creatures, but a particularly magnificent mother-load might attract a number of the creatures to bask in its magnificence and play pranks on each other. Due to their ability to swim through earth and stone, knockers have little patience for architecture, requiring little more than a pocket in which to keep favorite gems. Despite their physical appearance, knockers bear no relation to goblinoids, and those demented humanoids often find themselves on the receiving end of a knocker’s crueler pranks should they share territory. A knocker stands about three feet tall and weighs no more than sixty pounds.
Knocker Boons and Banes (2nd level, CL 4th, DC 15) A knocker will bestow its boon on favored miners; those that tolerate the fey’s pranks and help them deal with threats like subterranean monsters. Its bane is more freely given. In fact, some knockers will give first their boon and then their bane to the same victim, claiming that their magical gifts need “refreshing” or otherwise making excuses. Some indolent miners have claimed to suffer from “the knocker’s curse” in order to get out of work.
Boon: You gain tremorsense 30 ft. This boon lasts for 1 day per Hit Dice of the knocker (4 days for the typical specimen). Bane: Any metal ore you touch transforms into useless slag when exposed to sunlight. This effect lasts for 1 week.

Settle in for a bit of a post, kids – time for Linkara to talk about some pokeymanz.
So as I’ve stated on numerous occasions, when I first started playing Pokémon, it was on an emulator. I was young, I didn’t have money, and it was rare for my parents to spend any money on video games or video game consoles (we had PCs, if we wanted to game, plenty of good games out for PC). I would eventually get a Gameboy Pocket and a proper copy of Pokémon Blue, but when I started? Emulation was the way in.
Now of course being young and stupid and not being able to foresee problems in the future, I did not think to KEEP the save files in those ROMs, never figuring that I’d still want to have those Pokémon or even know how to transfer them over to a proper cartridge like I do now. As such, they have many, many times been saved over, deleted, and lost. Still, my computer has been built on top of itself a few times over, to the point where I do still find files from 2001 or the like if I dig deep enough. So occasionally, on a whim, I will go through the old emulator files I have to see if I can find an old save file of one of my original playthroughs. It’s a hopeless endeavor and I’ve done it multiple times now and it never yields results.
So during one of these efforts, I stumble upon my Pokémon Sapphire ROM. As a reminder there, much like with the Gameboy games, I didn’t have a Gameboy Advance until muuuuch later (and an SP at that) and my fandom in Pokémon had fallen off the map by the early 2000s, so when Ruby and Sapphire came out, I didn’t even really pay attention to it. Then, on a whim, I decided to get the ROM for Sapphire and play it. For the record, I was not a fan. It wasn’t that it was terrible, just that the Pokémon for Gen 3 didn’t really do anything for me. I played through it as best as I could, eventually beating the Elite 4 MOSTLY because I didn’t know much about the game and assumed that, like Gold/Silver, I’d be able to travel back to Johto after I beat the Elite 4 and play through a second region like in those games. Hell, there even seemed to be two ports that served no other purpose in the game (whooo, you can sail between them… when you could also just Fly…), but of course to my disappointment that was not the case. I was grumbly about it, did some Gameshark codes in the emulator to get a team of legendaries, then a team of Pokémon from Gens 1 and 2 that I liked, but in the end just gave up on it and moved on.
So on a whim, I load up the Sapphire ROM and look through some of the save states. I find the legendary one, I find the one with Gen 1/2 Pokémon… aaaand then I find a playthrough of my original team. This was Pre-Elite 4, but after I had reached Evergrande City, so I was clearly just training for the Elite 4 at that point. So here they are – the six Pokémon that I had trained to be my team in a game I didn’t really like all that much. This was the earliest team of Pokémon that I had ever raised that were still available. The save file was from 2003. They were almost fifteen years old. They had just been sitting here, waiting. Their future had been erased. Their only fate was to sit and wait to finish the game when that was never going to happen, never going to continue, hoping that their trainer would finish the job that he had started.
That was unacceptable.
I may not have liked Gen 3 that much, but dang it, these were my first ones from it, and I’ll be damned if I was going to let them spend another day there instead of fulfilling their destiny. I fired up a bunch of the equipment that I had gotten for the Gen 1/2 trade-up video (some of it was in disrepair, like the GBA Flash cart, so I used the DS emulator trading option I described in the video to get them) and got these bad boys up to Alpha Sapphire.
Hell yeah. Not only are these six going to beat the Elite 4, they’re going to beat a TOUGHER Elite 4 – the one for the remake games, since obviously I had already beaten Alpha Sapphire (I liked Alpha Sapphire more, but that team was 5/6 made of Pokémon from other generations – my starter was a Zubat – just wanted a team of Pokémon I had always wanted to try). Let me introduce you to these dudes.
Back in the day, I didn’t nickname my Pokémon – thought it was dumb. I’m older now and I LOVE nicknaming them. Gives them more character and uniqueness. First up – Sceptimus. I’m not particularly fond of any of Gen 3’s starters, which is a shame since they’re all good, so at the time I went with the one I disliked least, which was Treecko. Nowadays while I hold no particular attachment to them, I do still appreciate Sceptile’s badass tail and leaf blade arms. And of course now in Alpha Sapphire, he’s a friggin’ DRAGON, too.
Next – Sniperbird. A lot of times the token bird of the generation ends up on the team, usually as a well-balanced Flying-type and this Swellow is no exception. The name comes from a bit in Birdemic where twice a random bird just straight up swoops on and kills people with one shot. I affectionately referred to it both times as Sniperbird. Now look at this Swellow – tell me you can’t see this thing flying in and killing you in one hit.
Third – MAKIT. This one, as you can tell by the original trainer name is an in-game trade for a Slakoth. Most would probably keep the Slakoth to get a Slaking, but at the time, knowing nothing about the game, I didn’t know what a Makuhita was and Slakoth didn��t impress me. While Hariyama has never really done much for me, Makuhita is an adorable little boxer with a permanent grin and I love it. While Hariyama’s design might not impress, it’s my first Fighting Type I ever had as a party member and he will beat your ass like a drum.
Fourth is Positra. Plusle and Minun are Gen 3’s Pikachu variant and of course at the time I didn’t realize it would never evolve, but look at this thing – it’s adorable and its cheeks are shaped like plus symbols. Positra might not be the strongest, but damn if it ain’t cute and it can still zap you if given the chance. Electrike and Manectric always looked weird to me, but Plusle is fast and it can hit hard if given the chance.
Then we have Geist. Sableye, until Fairy type came along, used to be a Pokémon without any weaknesses. I don’t even remember catching this guy back in the day or having him on my team, yet here he is. I likely just enjoyed him because of the weird ghost design and wanted a Ghost type for my team, but of course he has so much more to offer, especially nowadays since his only weakness is Fairy. His stats are not the best, but like Sceptimus his Mega Evolution can compensate for that.
And finally, Oceanus. I wasn’t fond of ANY of the water types for Gen 3 back in the day. These days I like a lot more, but for a place with so much water, I’m fairly certain I used some other Pokémon for surfing for the longest time simply because I didn’t have anything else I liked, but I was quite fond of this Legendary. Not my favorite, obviously, but it’s a big-ass whale and it can flood the entire damn planet, so you don’t mess with it.
So yeah, used the Blisseys Secret Bases to power-level them up and I’ve now beaten the Alpha Sapphire Elite Four. Hello, old friends – it’s been too long.

Part 2 of the Gen 3 favourites! A big mix from Pokémon you could say are overrated and others underrated, but that shouldn’t stop someone from liking something.
Flying - Rayquaza: I think it would be hard to find someone who didn’t have Rayquaza amongst their favourite gen 3 Pokémon. There’s just so many great things about it - the design, power, story, shiny, mega...it’s a very good snake dragon. It would technically be above my choice for Latias under Dragon, but the other flying types of this gen aren’t great to me (and even have my least favourite Pokémon of all), already used Masquerain for bug and I love Latias a lot so they work better like this.
Psychic - Chimecho: Just something about their design that I really like. It’s simple but not too simple. It’s really cute though in my opinion should have another typing (ghost?) and a buff or something.
Bug - Masquerain: Previously a very forgettable Pokémon for me, but then a few years back I realised that it reminded me of Shinra-Kōketsu from Kill la Kill (major spoiler warning for that anime). I started to appreciate their design more but it finally getting a moderately large stat boost in the gen 7 games is really making me like this bug more. While they wouldn’t have those increased stats until transfer, I think if I decide to replay ORAS I’d try using one. Don’t like the shiny though :c
Rock - Cradily: A really good design and shiny (though I think could be better if it had a purple body to match how Lileep has Cradily’s colours for their shiny). If the Dream World didn’t shut down since I would’ve been able to catch one in a non-standard ball...
Ghost - Banette: I always liked Banette but before the mega came along, Sableye was my favourite for this gen. When that mega DID come out...goodness it’s perfect. I kinda wish it was just a different form or a normal evolution so I could have it permanently. Still, it gave me a newfound love for the Pokémon and my favourite of the generation overall! 
Dragon - Latias: One of the cutest legendary Pokémon, even when including the small mythicals like Mew, Celebi etc. Very great ‘mon.
Dark - Absol: Absol I always liked due to it’s name being the closest to mine of any Pokémon. I remember attempting to shiny hunt for one back in DPPt...their mega design is also one of my favourites and is so gorgeous. I’m still debating to myself if I should use a shiny one or not since I like both the normal and shiny equally.
Steel - Aggron: Never used an Aggron but I do like their design a lot, especially the tiny splash of colour for their eyes. The thing that pushed me away from using one is that typing...while the Mega does solve that, I just prefer the design of the normal one. Still, it’s very good and I really like it as a steel type.
Fairy - Gardevoir: I’ve always liked Gardevoir and not for reasons a lot of the internet likes them and their mega is one of the best designed. I used my shiny one as my starter for Ultra and she was incredible, though I wish I could’ve used her mega during the main game.
