I wanted to ask about Roach’s antenna.

I know it’s part of your artwork for him as a chaotic buggy boi but is are there any headcanons you’d add to it?

My personal take is that they partly act as a tracking device because he gets into weird places and he might be hard to find sometimes. Another feature I like to think about is that he likes to bob his head up and down so they tap on everyone’s heads (like how ants tap each other with antenna to communicate or check identity) as an excuse to “confirm non-imposter status”

At first I thought they could be like some radio antenna but now idk

At this point, I've just come to assume anything I scroll past on here is Danny Phantom related, despite knowing that other fandoms do exist and people I follow do, in fact, like other fandoms. Please note that there is a lot of different kinds of ways to interpret events in this show. This interpretation is from a mid to late 20′s lesbian cis woman. A lot of nuances that I touch on may not make sense to non-lesbians and straight people  but please don’t dismiss them immediately.

The Lesbian Sweater

Enid is wearing a sweater that looks exactly like the sunset lesbian flag. There is no way that the costume department did not know what they were doing. *Edited to add that Bobby Soutar, one of the co-designers is a gay man. This further shows that the sweater lesbian colors were intentional.

Rejecting Traditional Family Structure

Wednesday is shown to actively reject the heteronormative expectations to become a housewife and have a family. Even though the Addams Family is creepy and  kooky, Mysterious and spooky,and all together ooky, they still have the traditional family structure. Mother & Father,  and children.

The act of this rejection sets Wednesdays desires up to not be like her parents. This can be interpreted many different ways. Due to heterosexual representation being the standard depiction, a lot of lesbians and sapphic women grew up rejecting the traditional family structure. When compulsory heterosexuality is experienced, that can also manifest as the desire to not want to love or not thinking they could experience love.

Body Language Attraction: Leaning In. 

This is an extremely common display of attraction. It’s extra important to note that Wednesday is ALSO leaning towards Enid. This scene is immediately after they meet for the first time.

Body Language Attraction: Physical Proximity.

This one is similar to the one above but I would like to touch more on this.

Physical Proximity between Enid and Wednesday is constant throughout the show. The reason why it is sapphic-coded and not just female friendship is the fact that Wednesday is well, Wednesday. As a general rule, she desires solitude over companionship, and does not do physical displays of affection or emotions. Other friendships depicted between her and others do not have the same level of closeness. Wednesday even physically flinches away from even her mother air-stroking her arm.

Dismissing Love Interests

In later episodes Enid is shown to be infatuated with Ajax, yet in episode 1 she dismisses him without hesitation and doesn’t really show an interest in him. It doesn’t fit with how she acts with him the rest of the season. As the show progresses, Wednesday and Enid become closer - It is not entirely impossible to reason that Enid is panicking over possible attractions and feelings for her roommate and to counter this throws her interest into a non-threatening and non-masculine guy. This is a common experience for people dealing with comphet.

I’d also like to add in that throughout the series, Wednesday constantly rejects the advances of men in her life.

Let’s just appreciate the fact that as soon as she could, she went out of her way to access Enid’s vlog the same day they met.

Enid’s reactions to the Fencing Challenge.

I think it’s important to note the facial expression on her face wincing after the 2nd round, and looking disappointed when Wednesday lost the 3rd round.

  Wednesday Opening Up to Enid/Enid being a safe person for Wednesday to trust.

The WHOLE balcony scene. Wednesday actively shows interest in Enid and questions her after noticing she’s self-concious. She continues engaging in the conversation. And then when Enid explicitly states that she is upset, Wednesday shares an event that shaped her life and who she is. This is “Emotion equals weakness” Wednesday sharing a painful memory to someone she barely knew.

I’d like to also point out that Wednesday is very Neurodivergent coded and one of the ways Neurodivergent people show empathy and that they care and are listening and understanding others, is to share relatable experiences.  

WEDNESDAY WAS BEING EMPATHETIC TOWARDS A GIRL SHE HAD JUST MET AND LET HERSELF BE VULNERABLE.

And Nevermores queen of gossip vlogger assures Wednesday that she won’t misplace the trust and vulnerability Wednesday shared with her.

Distrust of Tyler/Respect of Wednesday’s autonomy.

Enid questions Wednesday’s trust in Tyler but unlike other characters, accepts Wednesday’s answer without trying to fight back. She takes her at her word and respects her decisions.

Respectful of Boundaries

The great thing about how Enid treats Wednesday is that she constantly pushes Wednesday to get out of her comfort zones while also respecting the boundaries Wednesday puts into place. She acknowledges them and doesn’t get upset. And she doesn’t just give up either - She tries again knowing full well she may get that hug rejected. This is the second time in this episode that she attempts to go for a hug and allows Wednesday the room to say no, and respects the decision.

BONUS LIL SUBTEXT

Xavier knows, he just does. And so does the actor Percy “If she’s gonna be romantic with anybody, it’s got to be with Enid.” Hynes White.

OFMD season 2 spoilers!!

Ed leaving Stede after Stede gains actual infamy feels very in character, even if it's frustrating as fuck.

Imagine how Ed feels: at the start of season 2, he was at his absolute lowest. He was depressed and angry and doing horrible things and quite literally trying to end his life. And then he gets another shot at life because he was cucking saved by the power of love. Being blackbeard nearly killed him. It scarred him and others permanently. We see him attempt to apologize when the crew lets him back on the ship after his banishment, and it's a shitty apology, but it's a huge first step. Then, we see him apologize to izzy directly, actually using the word "sorry" albeit not looking him in the eyes. And that's fucking huge. Neither Ed nor izzy are good communicators, so Izzy responds with "fuck off," but we know he values the apology anyway.

When Stede makes what's his name walk the plank, Ed tells him not to go through with it. Because Ed knows what that guilt is like, and if Stede has the choice not to do something so callous and irreversible, then Ed wants him to. He wants to spare him that pain.

And then Stede fucking does it anyway.

And not because he's evil, or he's a murderer at heart, but because the thing he wants most is to be masculine, attractive, powerful. Like Blackbeard. Because if he's like blackbeard, then he has worth. That murder changes his character fundamentally. He has finally achieved the thing he wants most, and it makes complete sense that immediately after, he and Ed have sex for the first time. Because Stede is immediately filled with confidence and adrenaline and power that he's never felt before.

Stede is now the more conventionally masculine one in the relationship. So, he's the one to grab Ed by the shirt and push him up against the wall. He's the one to close the curtains, while Ed sits on the bed and looks up at him. We don't even see his face as he does so. All we see is his bare chest, a symbol of masculine attractiveness. Stede is the one moving the both of them forward. And Ed lets him because he's down astronomically bad for Stede.

Then, the morning after, Ed throws Blackbeard's clothes into the sea, both symbolically and literally evolving in his character. He's done with hot black leather and metal buckles. He's done with having 9 gun holsters on his person. He's embracing simple and soft fabric. He's wearing one of Stede's robes. Ed makes them breakfast in bed-Stede still shirtless-as they lay apart from each other. No cuddling, no tender touches, no soft giggles as they embrace this new form of intimacy, no. What we get is Ed making them breakfast, being so desperate to please him that he throws a literal piece of twine on the tray in lieu of nothing.

Then at Spanish Jackie's, Stede revels in his infamy, and Ed gives him distanced advice about the lifestyle. He sits at a table with SJ while Stede does body shots or something, having rapidly become (as SJ said) "the man."

And then Stede fucking lights a man on fire????

No fucking wonder Ed wanted to leave. Stede is embracing the lifestyle that caused Ed and the crew so much pain and suffering. Like holy shit, of course Ed wanted to distance himself. He just started making ammends for his horrific behavior WITH STEDES ENCOURAGEMENT, and then Stede lights a man on fire and laughs about it.

I'm not saying they're relationship is beyond repair, or that Ed should have left, I definitely think they should have communicated. But I completely understand why Ed needed to distance himself from who Stede is turning into, which I think is why he called them fucking a mistake. It wasn't a mistake because Ed doesn't love him, it was a mistake because they're identities as individual people are extremely unstable. They're moving so fast in opposite directions, and they need to slow down and talk about it before agreeing to such vulnerable intimacy. I don't think the sex was non-con, but a lack of communication makes it really fucking easy to hurt each other.

I only hope that they will talk through their shit. I hope Ed will realize that Stede loves him more than he loves being an infamous pirate. I hope Stede will realize he doesn't have to be an infamous pirate for Ed to love him.

So uhm a lady I've met a total of two times through my work just stopped me on the street to give me her number.

Like, I've been out with friends and I'm going back home, and she's out walking her dog, and she greets me and I greet her back, but it's clear I have no idea of who she is (I have horrible face memory don't at me) so she says "I'm *name*, we've met recently at work"

And finally my brain connects and I do place her face/name in context, so we make some polite talk as one does, and she comes out with "So, do you still work with *sugar mommy boss*?" (more on that whole saga can be found in these posts).

"Sure, at least until the end of the summer"

"How are you finding her? Some of her previous coworkers found her a bit...intense. "

That's one way to put it, I guess, but even though I am a bit curious and I want to know if she has any tea to spill, I don't want to put it all out in the open with a stranger, so I shrug and cop out with "We manage to work together well enough."

(I wish I could have said something like Oh, I can be pretty adaptable if needed, but my flirty brain wasn't on at the moment so that was all I could come up with).

And she goes "Well, she's super intimidating to me. Actually I am so glad I stumbled upon you today, because I've been meaning to give you my number, but it felt as if she'd be super judgemental about it, so I didn't want to do it in her presence."

Again my flirty brain is shut off so I just manage an awkward "Well, she's not here now..."

And before I know it, she's telling me her number, and then her dog is trying to start a fight with another dog, so she basically has to jog away telling me to text her so she can save my number.
