I was gonna make this post way way earlier but I forgot lol but Uhm

I have played through the splatoon 2 story fully and am replaying it (for a future post bc a lot of the dialogue is rlly funny) and honestly while I absolutely loved it it makes me even sadder that splat 2’s story mode was kinda tossed aside (for valid reasons ofc) because it’s so Cool.

Excluding the gameplay, I think they did marie so well, because she sells the desperation of someone who’s got nobody she knows by her side. While she of course keeps the sassy attitude of sneak dissing her best friends (agent 3) and also telekinetically telling you to fuck off if you talk to her too much it’s very clear she genuinely cares so much about agent 4 and is so grateful they’re doing what they do.

these are only two screenshots of 8(?) of Marie randomly being really sentimental to 4 because this stranger chose to help her in her time of need rather than just ignore this GROWN WOMAN hanging out on a sewer drain

It’s like heavily emphasized multiple times that Marie could not be more grateful for 4’s help in retrieving not just the zapfish but also her cousin.

But then revealing that 4 knew about Callie the WHOLE TIME (I have a lot to say about this part but it’s mostly hc so) which is so KIND OF THEM???? this random woman recruits them into a secret military agency and hides the fact she rlly misses her cousin but they help anyway bc they WANT TO. (They didn’t even know either of them were famous btw) Marie shows a lot of gratitude toward 4 ESPECIALLY after the big reveal.

(You could make arguments for 3 being similar bc an old kook made them do it but this isn’t about them..)

And it’s not just being grateful for the one time, she genuinely enjoys 4’s company and wants to be better friends with them and chat after the zapfish and Callie are saved 😭😭😭

It’s so cute too, because 100%ing the game and even just being a little nosy is something that Marie picks up on, and remembers way later in the game. (More abt this later)

Speaking of said soldier! I think the way they characterized 4 via the actual gameplay rather than art/statements/whatever is so cool

4 doesn’t have many illustrations besides the chaos splatfest and that one group photo where they’re being funky in the corner (and the apartment) but I feel like the reason for that is the fact that a lot of Marie’s dialogue as well as how splatoon 2’s hero mode is structured/designed speaks a lot about how they wanted to represent 4.

From a realistic standpoint, of course splatoon 2’s story mode has to be more creative both prompt wise and secret wise. But it feels like the reason its that way is because both 4 and Marie are separate types of people from Craig and 3.

The bosses help a lot with this too, being more gimmicky and weird (subtracting stamp.) Octo shower and samurai being bosses where you have to either react well or change your positioning to effectively beat them. (Octo shower is my fave btw I loved fighting it the first time)

The level design also shines in this aspect because if I’m honest I remember none of the splat 1 levels significantly besides the few octoling ones. Splatoon 2’s levels are very detailed (and also insanely pretty) and have some rlly fun puzzles in a handful of them and even the more fast ones are a blast to play through

And then all the little extras (sardiniums and scrolls alike) are hidden so well and you usually have to go out of your way to find them and even the secrets that aren’t either of those things have substance

Small note, a lot of extras are also made so that it flows well with the levels design (like the first dualie request mission) which is also extremely fucking cool.

the way marie touches on those little discoveries is so smart too because it (as I said before) characterizes 4 as someone who loves to look for things even if it’s on a whim especially since the sunken scrolls in the game are so much harder to find than in splat1.

And the fact that unlike splat 1, you can (technically) 800% the game by playing EVERY SINGLE LEVEL WITH EVER SINGLE WEAPON TYPE. to me it feels like it deepens the fact that 4 likes to be really thorough. marie goes “you have a problem.” When you break like two hidden egg crates in this one level and it’s so great.

I love what they’ve done with 4, whether it was intentional or I’m over-analytical.

Nothing gets past them, looking in every nook and cranny whether or not there’s secrets to be found. They’re too nosy and thorough and they like to be around marie after completing missions, they don’t know who the squid sisters are, hate balloons, may or may not be ok, have impulsive secret finding, partake in many extracurriculars, can be needy at times, go with the flow and they apparently smell better than agent 3.

You don't understand,, how obsessed I am with their friendship omg 😭 (lil warning these are prolly ooc but I really tried 😭😭 I promise) (feel free to add on to these I love seeing other ppls hc's!!)

Ok throwback to my Ponyboy HC's post where I said Dally is really supportive of Pony's hobby in art!!!!!

Dally might be (secretly ofc he would never admit it) like the #1 fan of Pony's art, besides Johnny and Soda obvi

He really likes watching him sketch and paint, it's memorizing to him and he can't fathom how it looks like a picture from a camera almost, he tells him that too. ("I dunno how you're able to do that so quickly, Pone." "It looks like a photograph almost.")

Pony always tries to downplay his talents and Dally (ofc in his mean/tough love Dally way lol) tells him not to do that and to not sell himself short

Dally truly believes Pony could be famous from his art. That he could get out of Tulsa and make a name for himself. He doesn't really know how to communicate that to him besides the rare compliment here and there.

Another throwback to the post where I did the hc that Johnny and Dally will sit in and listen to Pony read,,

Dally doesn't like reading, never really cared for it. He thinks Pony reading all the time is a little funny and he'll tease him abt time to time.

When he first finds Johnny sitting in the lot with Pony and Pony reading one of his books out loud to Johnny he obviously had to interrupt and obviously sit with them (they're happy to include him btw they don't mind 😭😭)

Dally will not. Shut. Up. He asks Pony abt a million questions abt the book. ("Well why'd the guy go and do that?" "Why's he stupid?" "Wait what happened before that?" "What's that ladies name again?" "Wait What's she look like again?")

This is one of the very few (and probably first) times Pony talks back/sasses Dally ("Why don't you be quiet and let me finish reading the page? And then maybe you'll know what's happening.")

Idk how to explain this but Dally is def the type of friend to feed into his friends delusions 😭 or like hype them up for something they definitely SHOULD NOT do,, like ykwim?? And he def does it with Pony

He definitely encourages Pony to get into a little bit of trouble, just a tiny bit.

Obviously Pony can get in trouble on his own and he does plenty but Dally just encourages it a little bit more lol

He calls it "getting Pony out of his comfort zone" while Darry calls it "peer pressuring" (there was def a conversation/argument abt it 😭😭) (Dal: I am NOT peer pressuring him, I'm getting him out of his comfort zone. Dar: yes you are Dal! Dal: No I'm not! Pony do you feel peer pressured?! Say no. Pony: No... Dal: See?! He's fine. He's having fun!)

Dally 100% keeps Pony out of any real trouble tho, the kind that'd get him sent away or seriously hurt. He'd never encourage him to do something bad enough to warrant those things.

Ok, Dally is actually really nice but in a mean way. Like he's aggressively nice where no one's sure if they're being threatened or complimented or insulted. He's no different with the gang

If Pony or Johnny are like really bad at something Dally will threaten the rest of the gang to lie and be nice 😭😭😭 he won't be nice because it's not expected of him but he'll make everyone else be nice.

One time Pony tried to bake a cake and for some reason he just can't bake. He can cook fine but not bake. So it was like awful but ofc the gang tried it.

When Pony isn't paying attention Dally turns to the gang and straight up threatens them. ("This thing tastes like shit but you're all gonna tell him it tastes good or I swear I'll shove your faces into the cake.")

Dally has no idea WHY he does it, cuz he's not nice (he is) and he doesn't care abt Johnny or Pony's, or really anyone's, feelings (he does he's just emotionally constipated 😭😭😭)

Dally still is kinda mean to Pony though, not mean but like teasing?? Like in a big brother way

Sometimes he just says things without really thinking abt it or randomly teases him (like Pony reading all the time and being a nerd and not talking to girls)

One night they're both sitting on the porch smoking and it's kinda late and Dally randomly just says "ya'know I don't really mean it, right?" And Pony says yeah and Dally just nods and they go back inside.

After that Dally still teases him and stuff but Pony kinda knows now to not really take it heart cuz that's just Dally being Dally.

From an outsiders perspective it does look/sound like Dally is just being and a-hole 😭😭 but the gang just knows him enough that it's some weird love language he has to just be mean to them 😭

Whenever Dally's about to do something really stupid/dangerous/illegal he threatens Pony and Johnny to not do it

Before he does anything he'll look both of them in the eyes and either tell them to beat it incase the police show up or back up and hideout

He looks directly at Pony and goes "Do NOT tell Darry I did this infront of you or else." ("Do not, and I mean do not, EVER do what I'm about to do or I'll beat both of you.")

Dally is basically like the only one rlly allowed to be mean/tease Pony (in his head at least 😭)

Dally makes fun of him plenty and Pony just rolls his eyes and laughs. Dally will ruffle his hair and punch him in the arm and all that.

But the minute someone who isn't Darry or Soda or himself says something rude to Pony he just gets so mad 😭

One time he threatened Steve cuz Steve said something to Pony. ("You better shut up and leave the kid alone, Steve.") (Steve's confused cuz like not even 5 seconds ago Dally just called Pony an idiot or something 😭😭)

He's especially this way with socs and authority figures

And it's not like Pony can't defend himself or anything, Dally knows he can but he just gets mad anyways and again he just starts talking before thinking and next thing he knows he's nearly throwing hands with someone cuz they were an a-hole to his friend lol

He's basically the "only I can be mean to him and no one else can" type of friend 😭

Ok this post got a little out of hand 😭

I had waaaaaay too much fun with this I just really love talking about and making hc's 😭 I'm still trying to nail down Dally's personality so if (which he probably is,,) he's ooc sorry 😭 I literally can't help taking the characters and literally changing sm abt them from canon 😭😭 it's truly a problem but I will try to get him right 🙏

budget is one thing, but please consider: time is different. no amount of money is gonna give you more hours in a day. realistically, it takes a whole day for a photoshoot like that, including getting everyone (members, muas, stylists, directors, photographers, staff) to the location, setting everything up, getting styling and makeup done, taking however pictures there’s needed for a photobook of 13 members, etc. if they moved locations for every version, the whole thing would take them 5 days at the very least. that would be kinda wasteful, don’t you think? especially when their schedule is already so full? idk i’d rather they spend more time on filming the mv, preparing performances, practicing choreo, working on music, resting, rather than have their pics taken. i understand the teasers are not to your liking and that’s totally fine, you can be critical ofc and i’m not saying need to love them. but let’s be a little realistic here and also not dismiss the hard work, time and effort everyone put into them…

first of all i did not say a thing about svt's hardwork. or anyone else's who's involved (ie muas, stylists etc.) i did not ask for more work or effort from these people. i did not complain about their jobs. i think you completely missed my point. i only complained about the teasers as these are basically photobooks. actually these are two separate album versions w identical photos?? i'm sorry that's robbery

the way i see it.... i don't pay for a music video? or their performance ? yk jsgsj i don't own it it's not staying on my bookshelf i am not using it or watching it ever after it's released lmao, i might rewatch performances sometimes but that's about it, i don't pay to see it. you may value performances more, and that's cool !!! but me, i value albums. i value the art of photobooks, i value concepts. i ADORE that in kpop albums are cool and fun and have a lot of inclusions compared to western pop albums where you only get a cd. i think albums are a great opportunity to be creative as fuck and deliver something cool and crazy, this can be so much fun for members too, imagine how much fun they could have if the concepts were actually yk ..... thoughtful ..... ????? at this point they're just existing waiting for the flashes to blind them lol and when you're having fun at work it's like you're not working so this is in favor of members too jsgsjsgs

when i pay i'm gonna complain, sorry.. like this is their job? they're being paid to take nice photos... with my money btw and yours too so like ???????? 😭😭😭😭 AND STILL I SAID NOTHING ABOUT ???? THEIR POSING OR WHATEVER SJSGSJG i pay to collect and own this album i want it to be as pretty as possible, companies w lower budget than pledis(HYBE!!!!!!!) do more for album designs than pledis, i care about this lol you may not give a fuck and that's okay but i do not want to spend my money on an ugly low budget photobook? i just think this is a basic example of rational spending yk jagskag you people mass buy anything which allows companies to invest as little into albums as possible because they can clearly sell you anything so lol why invest more

my hot take on mask is that people found ‘objective’ issues with it because it was - and i hate to use this word - cringe. people wanted to justify their cringe, so they laser focused on a criticisable aspect of the mv.

i do sort of disagree with you that the *only* reason people shat on mask was because it was by dream. i think that was a big factor that increased the amount of drama around it, but i’ve seen many a CC get blasted because of promoting bad or questionable mental health advice - people tend to be quite sensitive about the subject. CCs that i had never heard of and weren’t particularly controversial have gotten into drama because of, say, selling merch about ‘mental illness’ with good intentions, but ended up being seen as tacky or bad taste. (and yes i get that merch vs a song are different but it’s the first example i can think of). i think mask would’ve been dragged at least a little had it been made by some other, smaller, not controversial CC, but it would’ve been less ‘oh my god this person is spreading a harmful message to their young followers’ and more ‘this is cringe and fake deep’. the internet is unforgiving about people’s art 😭

I think I agree. It's like with Dream as a whole (not all the time, but some parts of him and in some circles) - people feel guilty about disliking something just because (they think it's inherently bad to have negative feelings) so they scramble for moral justification.

To clarify, when I said I meant "by Dream" I didn't really mean him specifically, I meant at the unique apex of his level of fame and the place from which it stems. Wilbur could theoretically be criticized similarly, but he won't be since he's already established as a musician. It's less about the name itself and more about the lack of credibility as an artist combined with the distance that knowledge can and will spread (if that makes any sense). I do understand your point and maybe you're right, but I think it would've been a lot more likely to fly through as "art" (if "cringe") (I like Mask btw, just to be clear, this is all in terms of the argument) than something like a CC giving weird mental health advice if not for his position. Music videos don't tend to be taken as self-help videos, yk ?

flkasjdf the way i didn't even know there was a (even if small) fandom for tsme on tumblr and here i've been, crying to my poor non-pokemon fans about literally the same four episodes for the past two years (which was when i first got back into xyz, i grew up on it, phased out of it, and then came back haha)

I haven’t really scoured it until now because when I started it, I wasn’t truly expecting a response BUT I have been so, so, so happy to see that some people have also posted content tsme in the last few weeks :DDD I do go into the ‘tsme’ tag as well from time to time (among others), just to see if we have new content. All this to say if you do use the ‘tsme month’ tag, I would be thrilleddddd Anyone is welcome to join in the screaming about tsme <333 actually that would send me over the moon

hi it’s been a long time! i mean it’s only been days but i expected myself to make an entry everyday but i got lazy about it. (￣▽￣;) i want to go to a cafe soooo bad i wanna go outside with my friends AAAAAA.

i know i just gone outside when i went to the dentist but i didn’t do much tbh. speaking of that day, after my appointment i’ve gone to daiso and bought rice cracker and seaweed snacks. it was so good. 😋💖 i already finished it then i also bought a transparent mini pouch to put my ace and deuce nuis hehe. i was informed in advance that day that my deuce plush is gonna arrive so i decided to buy the pouch also. im glad ace finally has a partner huhu it was so hard to find the exact deuce plush in his dorm uniform. i can only see pe and alchemy uniforms.

btw, when i was reaching for the seaweed snack in daiso i couldn’t reach it then a staff got it for me when he saw me struggling. it was really embarrassing and i think i didn’t thank him? i think i forgot ugh i was just in a hurry that time im sorry. 😭 i think i saw my grade 8 crush, si angelo. hindi ko alam kung narecognize niya ako pero when i looked at him he was already staring at me so maybe he does? i was really a loud person in 8th grade + the teasings of my friends didn’t help at all.

i saw in my story the art i did of deuce a year ago and i just realized if i had been consistent with digital art i could’ve improved today since it’s been a year. 😭 sayang yung oras tapos hindi pa ako familiar sa basics. i could’ve been making art on twitter yet im stuck here huhu. ininvite din pala ako ni ate clar pumunta sa art exhibition nun pero since may period cramps ako di ako nakapunta sayang talaga. 🥺 magdamit din daw ako ng maganda i could’ve worn my new clothes that day since i’ve been dying to wear it. hopefully, i can buy shoes this december most specifically high heeled boots or high heel shoes so i can style it with my new outfits.

i was searching through stores and found a store where they used to sell cute pastel pink skirts and all of it was my type. 😭💞 i wish i discovered them sooner i wanted those 2 skirts soooo bad. i wish i could buy clothes in the future that will suit my style but first i need to look for fashionable ones. why is it so hard to look for the ones that is my type. i don’t really want to waste money for clothes i won’t wear. (´°̥̥̥̥̥̥̥̥ω°̥̥̥̥̥̥̥̥｀)
