My second submission for Haunting Heroes' Guess That Artist game. This is my "if DPxDC were BotW while not, in fact, being a zelda game, exactly".
Here are a couple of other outfits:
Tumblr media
The Atlanteans aren't exactly the Zora, but they're not not the Zora.
Tumblr media
Danny in full Yeti gear with a shield he found in a field and an ice blade from the Yetis.
World building details beneath the cut
Details are in bullet points because I'm still working on various details
Maddie and Jack are Ancient Sheikah tech researchers (more like Jerrin than Purah or Robbie; they aren't Sheikah themselves, but Vlad is)
The shrines are portals/rifts to the Spirit Realm; every region has a few but they went inactive a while back (but recently became active again while still locked)
They became inactive because a demon king is sealed in the Spirit Realm; supposedly, heroes guarding the rifts disappeared to close the portal form the other side, locking themselves in the Spirit Realm with no way back
How to open the portals is a closely guarded secret and no one knows how to do it anymore exactly, but they know it involves ceremonial garments
Danny figures out how to open the one his parents are researching by accident and stumbles into the Spirit Realm
The general plot revolves around going back and forth between the Mortal Realm and the Spirit Realm, finding heroes of yore and the heroes who stepped up to replace them and figuring out how to stop the demon king from returning
Demon King is Pariah, BTW, and the ones trying to revive him are the League of Assassins
Gotham is a city in the Spirit Realm
This is gonna be a demon twins au
The Fentons live close to the Lost Woods/kokiri forest; they found Danny sitting on the shrine just outside the woods because "he was too old to stay with the kokiri anymore". They said "it's free baby" and took him in. He doesn't remember much from that time
Only someone born in the spirit realm can open the rifts. Danny finds out the fun way that he was born there (mid game boss fight ig)
Part of the game play revolves around catching ghosts and returning them to the Spirit Realm...but you can also release them during fights or puzzle solving or adventuring to produce certain effects
Basically, you work with the teen titans/young justice/etc in the Mortal realm and you work with the justice league in the spirit realm, but you also have to catch ghosts, and most importantly of all, collect outfits
Idk what the conclusion is but I'll probably write this someday
This au is inspired by botw, totk, oot, tp, mm, and other Zelda stories, but it's really a LoZ flavored story and not a LoZ crossover, so I'm not sure there's going to be a Zelda or a Link or a Ganon
I'll add more to this someday but I'll call the au Heroes of the Realm au if you want to find the tag later

Assorted Post-TotK Spirit Tracks AU thoughts:
The main technology you use is the Robbie Rucksack—mirroring the Purah Pad, Purah did most of the designing, but Robbie got to name it. Turnabout is fair play.
It gets upgraded as you go with more and more features, like a grappling hook, paraglider wings, a dowsing rod, etc.
Its most important feature, though, is the ability to switch tracks (hence locking Link into a specific rail until Zelda joins his side).
Link is piloting the first ever engine in the modern day, the Sheikah Engine. The tutorial segment is him driving it to Lookout Landing Station, so Zelda can name him Hyrule’s first official engineer.
The cannon you get later is actually a guardian laser.
The Railway Tower is the central hub for the rails that spread across Hyrule initially. Purah runs it.
Beneath it, in the Depths, Josha (now 16, eagerly talks about taking a trip to Mt. Lanayru on her birthday) has excavated what looks to be some kind of seal. Onlooker in the ZST crowd seems unusually interested and lavishes Link with an absurd amount of praise.
Shortly after the ceremony, Josha rushes in and says there’s an emergency. Right then, something BURSTS out of the ground beneath the tower, shattering it to smithereens—Purah barely escapes. The stone tower dwarfs the other rail towers around Hyrule in size, reaching from the Depths all the way up to the Sky. Link has to use it to switch his train between map layers.
Calling it the Spirit Spire. It’s full of Phantoms and poes.
Zelda gets her body stolen (expected)
Link gets the Master Sword stolen (NOT expected; snuck up on by Byrne a la Ganondorf vs Sonia). After all, a king revived deserves a fitting weapon.
At the bottom of the Spirit Spire, in the Depths, Link gets the Phantom Flute. Various functions of the tower are enabled by flute song.
Zelda’s spirit can be seen by the Sages, Impa, and Link—nobody else. But she accompanies you and comments on a LOT
Phantom Zel is scared of Keese (same way ST Phantom Zel is scared of rats, reference TotK first battle)
Phantom Zel can go anywhere in the Depths, but she loses her armor in the light.
Spirit form Zel can also take control of certain mechanisms, unlock things for you, phase through walls, etc.
Bringing Zelda to a bargainer statue has the statue reject her soul. It would disrupt the balance of the afterlife to take a soul while the body still breathes.
Tracks in the sky due to Spirit Spire
Remlit sanctuary > Rabbit sanctuary
References to other Zelda games like DLC outfits/items are accessed by playing those games’ songs. Stone walls have the song notes, you’re not taught them outright.
Opening scene is Link in his Tarrey Town house, getting woken up by Zelda who’s excited to see him drive.
Working title: Rails of the Realm

LU Pokémon AU - The Link’s Types and General LoZ Types
To preface this, this is all made up and generally not canon to the actual Pokémon universe. But humans are canonically Pokémon, so they are likely to have Pokémon types. Before we takle the Links, let’s explain how things generally work in this AU.
All humans (yes, Hylians-and Gerudos-are humans too) are generally Normal types. Occasionally, humans are able to gain a secondary type, think about those Psychic type trainers who have psychic powers. Those trainers are Normal Psychic types, and the Normal type being first is important, because if it isn’t first, then they are no longer a human. Sheikah aren’t humans, despite trying to appear so. They are Fairy Dark type, but try to-and have successfully as of BotW/TotK-pass themselves off as Normal Dark type. Dark does not always necessitate being evil.
Naturally, humans typically gain either a Psychic or Fighting secondary type, although gaining a secondary type is still very rare, and is an ability unique to humans. Zora, Rito, and Gorons can’t gain a secondary type like how humans do. Zora are Water Fighting type, Rito are Flying Fighting type, and Gorons are Rock Ground type.
To gain a secondary Psychic or Fighting type, a human must devote themselves to learning the type’s moves with the help of actual Psychic or Fighting Pokémon. It is a hard, and challenging process, and yet almost all Gerudos are naturally Normal Fighting types due to how many Gerudos in the past gained a Fighting type despite the tedious process. Urbosa and Riju are Normal Electric type. Ganon typically gains a secondary Dark type, but when he’s pig Ganon he’s mono Dark type, since he’s no longer human. Few humans can also be born with a secondary Psychic type as well, although it’s a rare occurrence.
The Zeldas are all Normal Fairy types thanks to Hylia, who was a Fairy Dragon type. Post-TotK Zelda is instead a Normal Dragon type, and was a Dragon Fairy type while in dragon form.
Now onto the main course, the Links. Here is a list of the different types the Link have and explanations for them:
Wild - Normal Ghost - After coming back to life after 100 years, he gained a secondary Ghost type. He also gained the powers of his fellow champions from their spirits, which further cemented the secondary Ghost type he has. If he didn’t gain their powers, the Ghost type would have gradually faded away and he would’ve went back to being a mono Normal type. Once the other Links learn about this, they would be very concerned.
Twilight - Normal Dark - After getting turned into a Dusk Lycanroc with the use of Twili magic, he got slapped with a permanent Dark type. His Lycanroc form is also a Rock Dark type instead of a mono Rock type because of this.
Legend - Normal - Arceus himself made sure that he stayed a mono Normal type, and that he can’t learn any moves without the use of items, this Link is powerful enough.
Hyrule - Normal Fairy - This Link is very adept at learning different moves. Just learning different move types doesn’t give you a new type however, he only got this type after learning how to transform into a fairy. Using this transformation power enough times had made the secondary type permanent.
Four - Normal Fairy - The Minish are Fairy Normal types, and instead of just shrinking down to their size, Four was able to transform into a Minish. Like with Hyrule, using this power enough times had slapped him with a permanent secondary Fairy type.
Time - Normal Fairy - I realize how many Links have this type. However, he gained this type from the incident with the Fierce Deity mask. Each of his transformation masks changes his type: Deku Mask - Grass Ghost | Zora Mask - Water Ghost | Goron Mask - Rock Ghost | Fierce Deity Mask - Fairy Ghost | You can guess why they all have a secondary Ghost type.
Warriors - Normal - He’s just some guy man. He wishes he had a secondary Fairy type, he loves fairies.
Sky - Normal - Just because he can fly with a giant bird, doesn’t mean he suddenly gets a secondary Flying type. He can’t fly by himself. He’s just some guy.
Wind - Normal - No he isn’t a Water type, but he is on his way to becoming Normal Psychic soon, even if he doesn’t really know that yet.
Here’s some other Links that are not really in LU or are not the main 9 Links:
Spirit - Normal Psychic - He didn’t die or get separated from his body like his Zelda, who is a Normal Ghost type, but he can see spirits better than the normal person, so he gets a secondary Psychic type, which he was actually born with.
First Hero - Normal Fairy - He got blessed by Hylia. That’s it.
Green, Red, Blue and Vio - They all get different secondary types because of the 4sword, with Green, Red, and Blue having Grass, Fire, and Water types respectively. This stays the same no matter who uses the blade. Vio, and any other fourth color gains a type that matches the emotion/mental state/whatever that color represents the most. So of course Vio is Normal Psychic, since he is the brains of the 4.
Ravio - Normal Psychic - Like most Lorians(is that what they’re called?), he’s Normal Psychic type, because unlike Hylians, the people of Lorule usually are born with a secondary Psychic typing. Ravio usually uses just his psychic powers to communicate with Sheerow easier. Sheerow is also a Pokémon, Flying Psychic type.
Linkle - Normal - She is very close to gaining a secondary Fighting type. With just a bit more training, she’ll finally get STAB on her Low Kicks.
Dark Link and Shadow Link - These two are different beings. Dark Links are mono Dark while Shadow Links are Dark Ghost.
That’s all I have for now, but if you have any other questions regarding this AU, please ask! I have done and am still doing a lot of world building, it’s so fun!

Okay but… tears of the kingdom AU? Lan Zhan is Link and wwx is Zelda… the final battle with Ganon gave me way too many thoughts of PrinceXian and knightJi. I can’t do this
Tumblr media
Like… Tell me LWJ wouldn’t devote himself to protect wwx. Tell me he wouldn’t search sky, earth and sea for his beloved prince who went missing as they were exploring the Burial Mounds in look for clues and history about their kingdom.
Tell me LWJ wouldn’t internally lose it when wwx falls like this and he’s not able to catch him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tell me LWJ wouldn’t shed a few tears when he finds out his beloved prince sacrificed his mind, his heart, everything that makes him “Him” just so he could protect his people… so LWJ could thrive and put an end to the evil plaguing their beloved land. Even if it meant they wouldn’t see each other again.
Like… Just seeing wwx in his dragon form, shedding one last tear and sending his last memory. His sacrifice—

Been loving all your posts about this au! Was wondering if you had any thoughts about how the chain reacts to fake Wild/Phantom Ganon running around? When I played the game it was really obvious that it wasn't actually Zelda. Do they pick up on that?
I’m so glad you’re enjoying this.
I haven’t thought to much about puppet!wild.
But there are three ways you could play it.
The first is them seeing puppet!wild once they arrive in totk. If the see puppet!wild first before making it to Lookout Landing they could be tricked into an ambushed leading to a lot of questions about what is going on with Wild and them looking for Flora for answers. I think it would be easy to trick them as they have just arrived in this timeline and are excited to see Wild again. This is the only way I can see them getting tricked.
Or you can have them encounter puppet!wild after the find out about Dragon!Wild. As they travel around they here these wild stories about Wild. How people have seen him recently and he’s doing all of these crazy things. They know it can’t be Wild. They’ve seen his dragon form. But there are some members of the group who think that maybe Wild is projecting his Spirit to try and help the people but because he’s a spirit he just can’t communicate right.
They argue the idea around. Wind is a big believer of spirit Wild. Twilight, Hyrule and Sky hope that’s true but don’t want to put their hopes to high. After all it’s better then any other alternative. Time, Legend, Four, and Warrior can smell a rat. They don’t know what these visions of Wild are but they don’t trust them.
Their first real encounter with puppet!wild would be when they are trying to help the Goron. Tulin says he saw Wild when they are searching for the Arc but none of the chain saw him. No it’s not until Goron city that they see the puppet and they all agree that it can’t be Wild. He would never behave in that manner. So that lead to the question. What is it?
They hear a rumor about Wild being captured and go to check it out. They know it’s not really Wild but they want to know what that thing is. When they find it, it hurts way more then they thought it would. The person in the cage is obviously not Wild. He doesn’t stand like that, he doesn’t talk that. And he would defiantly recognize them. So just who is this? They open the cage only for the yiga to reveal themselves. The fight is over before it began. There’s a lot of pent up rage in the group over what has happened to Wild. And to have the yiga mockingly use his face to try and trick Flora. Ya the the Yiga didn’t stand a chance.
So mystery solved it’s the yiga trying to help Ganondorf. Except why is his outfit different. The Yiga had him in his champion tunic. But the version they saw up on death mountain was wearing something completely different. Different members of the group hold different levels of suspicion.
Then after they find four of the sage, they know there’s more. There’s always six to seven sages, Wild appears at the castle. The boys are super upset. They know it’s not Wild. But why are the yiga taunting them like this. Legend wants to end this and rushes up to the castle. Warriors and Twilight are hot in his tail along with the others.
Once they’re up there puppet!wild leads them into trap after trap. Until the throne room. When they find out that it’s not a yiga in a costume but Ganondorf himself using Wild’s image to cause chaos across hyrule. The boys are furious. How dare he. He’s the reason Wild’s a dragon and now he’s slandering Wild’s name and memory in his timeline. It won’t stand.
The third idea can be tacked onto the front of the prior idea. But it depends on how much power Ganondorf had when trapped. I think the boys have caught glimpses of dragon!Wild ever since they separated from him. They’ve seen him in multiple timelines before making it to totk. If Ganondorf has enough power maybe he sent his puppet!wild up sooner. Maybe the puppet has been working with dark to try and kill off the chain. Maybe the boys have been chasing Wild’s shadow ever since he left. He’s been moving around like a ghost. The catch him in the corner of their eyes but when they turn to look he’s not there. Everyone just thinks they are missing Wild and hallucinating him being around but in actuality puppet!Wild is following them.
I personally think idea two is the best but we have options to mix and match

Thinking about Restorative Justice AUs this morning and I'm gonna copy/paste from the friendchat
part one:
Like yes okay I did listen to the apology song from book of life recently and after a moot posted something about the producer interview where zelda might’ve dismantled the monarchy after seeing how kingdoms are formed but didn’t have time in the game and I had feelings about it but imagine an TotK au in which the sages wanted to make gan human again because the circumstances of his corruption were also rooted in evil and the power of friendship means sovereign states full of love or something whatever you get me but like, they do the thing where they’re working on reigning gan in by seeing him (tm) and when it starts to work sagebody rauru is like ‘what are you doing he’s a monster No restorative justice (/personal grudge bc yknow he killed his wife)’ and light arrows him which makes him get monstrous again and goes after rauru and the kids have to figure out how to stop two stupid dogs from ripping each other and the whole world apart again
part two: (Re: That ^ )
because I got hit with Apology Song from Book of Life AND I Know Who You Are from Moana -- Restorative Justice AU in which Riju is the one that can reach him because she knows what it's like to be a kid in a position she didn't ask for (in fact the exact same one he was born into) who is doing her best and she knows how angry and scared he must've been because she is also angry and scared and she knows he must be loyal to the darkness now because he felt betrayed and forgotten by his people but they still remember who he was before and she knows he used to be a hero and she knows he just wanted to keep his people safe and she can forgive him if he can forgive her but his enemies are her friends now and his people are okay they're okay and he doesn't need this power anymore his people are safe his war is over and he can come home to rest (die, finally)
Tumblr media
and what if rauru light arrows him but hits riju (she's okay) and gan gets beasty and fights rauru and zelda splits them up and chains gan and rauru is like 'good chained like the beast you are' and goes to kill him and finds out he is also trapped by Zelda's light magic and she's like 'no this is fucking over goddammit i've seen how a kingdom is made and all of this is wrong i'm dissolving hyrule' and rauru's like '>:0 princess zelda-' and she's like 'QUEEN ZELDA. I AM THE DAUGHTER OF HYLIA'S LIGHT AND YOU WILL HEAR ME' and she banishes him back to the sacred realm so he can see his wife and be at peace whether he likes it or not and she destroys the malice/gloom on Gan and fixes Riju's injury with one like big untapped power boom she's been trying to reach this entire series and Gan can just sit with Riju and get to see her, this strong young Gerudo who is so brave and loves her people so much, and he can just idk crumble into sand and be part of his desert again
there was a Whole Movie in my head this morning
Bonus:
So Riju gets the closure of knowing she did destroy the evil that killed her mother and also gets to see and know and bury a legendary gerudo king and help his soul find the peace he clearly couldn't get on his own and Zelda gets the closure of knowing the cycle has ended and her power was ultimately used for good and Link gets the closure of just getting to hug all of his friends after a supernatural war
now he can go be babygirl to his boyfriend and his boyfriend's wife
and zelda can go be a hippie communist like her great great great great great x100 grandmother before her
and Baby Teba whose name escapes me can go be a great archer and Yonobo can go back to doing mining and capitalism
inevitably pissing off a dragon in the depths who will come out and eat them all

Really glad to see a lot of ppl liked my Draconified Links Au (yes that’s the official name of it now) so I’m gonna talk about some of my ideas surrounding lore and shit
Of the nine dragons, Wild is the ONLY one to have swallowed a secret stone in order to become a dragon. He encounters the other eight dragons during his totk journey (lu hasn’t happened) after they all appeared during the upheaval and is confused why they all seem to accept his presence. In this au, the dragons have some sense of a personality but it’s limited to Legend not liking people climbing on him and flying erratically or Twilight keeping watch of Wild if he walks around his flight path. Just little hints to how they used to be.
Sonia and Rauru were unable to restore Zelda’s human form, and in a desperate attempt to reunite with her Wild takes Mineru’s secret stone and eats it, becoming the Dragon of the Wild.
As for the others, I’m still not 100% sure but the idea I’m leaning more towards is that all of them died at some point in their adventures and to ensure their spirits live on/are remembered in some way Hylia resurrected them as dragons. They’re sort of in a purgatory where they’re neither dead nor alive and Wild joins them in this state but can sort of communicate with them more. Suddenly Hyrule’s sky becomes filled with dragons that barely anyone can see but those who can often see multiple flying around together at once. No conversations or anything, they’re just chilling
I’ll eventually draw out some designs, maybe as part of my October challenge, as well as go more in depth on their flight patterns, drops and nature but for now it’s all very loose ideas and nothing really makes sense at the moment. If anyone does have better ideas let me know!! I am sick rn so brain is not completely braining

I had a few thoughts over your break. So I figured I'd just compile them instead of spamming you with posts for each individual thought. 1. We REALLY overthought the whole situation with the mech and Wild's sage powers. Because if he does become a sage, then presumably he'd be able to make an Avatar like the other still-living sages, and thus have that power and control Mineru's mech in his stead. 2. If Wild has blue blood, then does that mean that effect his appearance at all? If Zelda kisses him on the cheek is his face just going to light up because of his blush? 3. I've noticed in a lot of Linked Universe AUs, Four and Twilight tend to hide the full extent of their powers. Mainly Four being, well, four people. And Twilight hiding his Wolf form. But would Wild's sage powers let him figure this out? Recognizing that Four has 4 souls, or that "Wolfie" has Twilight's soul?
its good to be back and ooh wow lots of thoughts! lets unpack them together~
1. Holy shit you're right, we really needed to step back and look at the bigger picture for that one. Wild being able to summon his own avatar though could cause some hilarious pranks tho-
2. Blue blood would slightly alter his appearance, but not entirely. Things like the inside of his mouth and just other normally pink orifices would tint more blue than pink. Skin wouldn't flush red but wouldn't glow blue either, the skin would simply darken appreciably. Arguably, Wild blushing in any sort of way would turn him less blue and more thay deathly grey type skin. But that's just scientifically speaking.
3. Well, Wild already knows about Wolfie. But remember in my headcanon he already had an affinity with spirits (cos canonically the stones only amplify powers, don't give powers), so I'd argue even before totk he would be able to tell that Wolfie was Twi. As for Four, I think he felt something 'off' in a sense pre-totk, but after he returns with the stone yeah he definitely knows now. But he's great at keeping secrets so it's fine. You know what else it means? All those masks Time has stashed away? Yeah, Wild can definitely sense them and their power now.

Random Vampire + other supernatural stuff AU where Vaati is mistaken by the general populace as a Vampire but he's actually a Seelie type fairy who left the courts (the unseelie don't like him either) because he was fascinated with the dark magics humans could wield and had no interest in being nice to them, and was much more selfish than his brethren. He learned their magics and other human sins and has left his fairy life a long time ago to live amongst humans for his own fun and gain. (more au ramblings under cut)
He's spent at least 200 years in the human world and is a bit notorious amongst other long living beings as being a huge flirt and having many girlfriends at once. In truth he prefers the chase than actually having the prize so he's seen as very fickle and has broken many hearts who actually fell for him.
At some point one particularly plucky girl ended up having children with him. Even now he carries a locket of paintings of his kids when they were young even though they are all in their twilight years now (though having fairy blood in them they are longer lived than humans). He will gush about them if given the opportunity. He may not be as involved in their families as he used to be but their bloodlines are blessed by him.
His default human form actually looks about 12 (to his annoyance) but he is a skilled shapeshifter who likes to keep his appearance anywhere in the range of 18-25 because it's easier to flirt with people that way.
He slipped into a ball held by who he assumed was the powerful and infamous Cia but turns out she had been long killed by Colonel, who was turned against his will and took his revenge. The ball was to celebrate a curious new addition to the household. A massive, handsome man named Ganondorf with curious stitching scars and the scent of curious magics about him (tldr: my witch Ravio did a Frankenstein) and despite the many other beauties at the ball became absolutely enraptured by the man. And after the ball he decided he MUST know more about him. Thus the courting began. The others at the mansion are suspicious but his intentions are very innocent.
(AU tldr:) (Hyrule Warriors Link as the Vampire Lord of the house, Twilight is a werewolf and was once a monster hunter, a totk Link is HW's beautiful vampire bride, Ravio is a witch who traded protection from persecution (long story) to being the maid/butler of the house and allowed to explore his craft, and another totk Link is a angel/demon hybrid who was also a vampire hunter and knew Ravio when they were children. They are one big happy family and definitely nothing bad ever happens to them and they will all definitely live for a long time.)

TOTK AU idea!! spoilers for the ending of the game!!!
so you know how Zelda got un-dragon-ed by Sonia and Rauru at the end. what if it didn't work right? like, it only *mostly* reverses the draconification, so zelda has horns and a tail and spikes and scales, all that fun shit. But where did all that extra energy go?
It went to the other three dragons, who are now hanging around in hylian-adjacent forms in Hyrule (or the Depths ;)) and having fun/making trouble. I'm going to posit that they didn't start out as mortals like Zelda, so they have more memories of being dragons, unlike Zelda who was 'sleeping'. Also I'm bringing Ganondorf back, but getting exploded has knocked a lot of memories out of his head.
While the defeat of the Demon King has slowed the Blood Moon phenomena and greatly reduced the number of monsters on the surface, it has correlated with a surge in monsters and stalfos in the Depths, making it incredibly difficult to traverse, even by the Yiga. the Gloom has also disappeared from the surface, and only pockets of it remain within the Depths.
Because both Zelda and Link are trying to recuperate and manage the kingdom (and her new body,) they don't find out about this development until a few months after the defeat of the Demon King.
I've been alternating between he/they/she pronouns for all the dragons btw, i don't think they'd particularly care. (all three of the dragons are also wearing their respective armor set for convenience)
More on the dragons below the cut
FAROSH:
They are the tallest of the trio, (3.5m) and also bear the most resemblance to a Gerudo voe.
I have no way to describe his hair other than that it's Gotenks hair. Their hair conveniently sticks up like their horn.
Prefers one-handed weapons and shields.
He wakes up on the shores of Rassla Lake, heads to Tuft Mountain to get the lay of the land, and runs into Bolson.
Farosh: my name is Farosh.
Bolson: like the dragon?
Farosh: ??? of course???
I don't think anyone would immediately clock her as being The Thunder Dragon, just some weird Gerudo who chases off all the pirates.
They don't go to Gerudo Town because she gets mistaken for a voe by a stable attendant, and he misunderstands it as 'dragons aren't allowed'
NAYDRA:
They have the smallest stature, and besides the dragon features he also has a variety of malice scars (a la botw) and feathers (for flavor).
She also has the longest hair, like a waterfall, and white/light blue in color.
Prefers bows and wands/staves.
He initially patrols Mount Lanayru and slowly starts interacting with Kakariko, Hateno, and the Zora as a 'lone wolf monster exterminator'.
I think she would be the first one that Link & Zelda would learn about, and the least cooperative (they don't want to leave their territory.)
I think that their horns would look a bit different than the frostbite headdress, having three large separate spikes with smaller shards in between.
DINRAAL:
Poor Dinraal got their legs while they were in the Depths, and being unable to fly means that he's just kinda stuck down there-- not like she's complaining!
Dinraal is the most muscular of the dragons, and his skin has a rocky texture where it's not covered by scales. Their skin tone is also notably grayer than a normal Hylian.
His hair is very curly, in red/orange/yellow hues, and she keeps it tied back with a metal band.
Prefers two-handed weapons and hammers.
They are the one who finds the returned Ganondorf, who is stumbling through the Depths trying to avoid dying (he is bad at it, because he's lost most of his memories: Dinraal saves him.) She takes him under their metaphorical wing, and tries to teach him how to be the wielder of the triforce of power *without* becoming corrupted by Demise.
thank you for coming to my ted talk. if you want to write/draw anything from this, just tag me because i wanna see 🥺

Been having lots of fun with LoZ again since TOTK came out and I keep thinking abt good guy ganon AU, and I ended up thinking so hard about it that I accidentally formed a. questionable crack theory about the divide between Ganon and Demise
so naturally I'm about to make it everyone's problem. lets go
Ok, so Ganondorf has been fully human in more than one of the games. Evil, yes, and possessing dark magic plenty of times, but undoubtedly still a man. Meanwhile, the fully fledged Demon King/Calamity is clearly Demise. The difference between these two is very stark.
What if they're actually not the same person? What if Ganondorf and Demise didn't originally share the same spirit?
Demise is not mortal. His exact words were that "his hatred would follow them forever". If we took that a bit more literally, we could interpret that as the lingering Malice and dark magic Ganondorf utilizes in the series instead of Demise himself reincarnating alongside Link and Zelda.
If Demise and Ganondorf aren’t the same person, then where the hell did Ganon come from? Why does he reincarnate?
Idea: Demise didn’t just curse the hero and the goddess, he cursed everyone there who had a hand in his downfall.
Now this is just an idea, but let me elaborate.
There are 4 major reoccurring characters in the Legend of Zelda series. Yes, 4, you read that right. Those characters are Link, Zelda, Ganondorf, and Impa. Impa appears less than the other three, but she holds enough weight in the story and has appeared often enough (around 7 times?) that I will be counting her, especially for the sake of this argument.
Anyway
Back to the curse thing
Excluding Demise and Ghirahim, there were 4 people present at the final battle with Demise in Skyward Sword: Link, Zelda, Impa, and Groose.
The first three are reoccurring characters, but how does Groose factor in?
Well, if we assume Demise is dead with only his Malice left behind, and that Ganondorf's spirit didn't come from Demise…
You see where I'm going with this.
(Yes I will admit this is a stretch because ganon is a serious character and groose is… groose. But LOZ still takes itself 100% seriously despite how ridiculous some parts of it is, and I'm having fun with this crack theory so consider: I do what I want)
“But ganon is evil! And they’re so different!” yes. I’m getting to that
What are Groose's most prominent character traits? Tall, muscly, red hair, very mean-spirited and selfish (at least before he pulls himself together and helps Link, who he originally hated due to his crush on Zelda). He isn’t very smart, and he isn’t all that brave compared to Link, he’s mostly driven by his personal desires (for better and for worse), and usually resorts to brute force to achieve his goals.
If you've noticed a pattern, you would be correct: these character traits all align closely to the holder of the triforce of power.
(insert thonk emoji)
There's also that one crack theory already floating around that the Gerudo are distantly related to Groose because of his dumbass red hair and that Demise keeps reincarnating as a Gerudo because of the fact that Groose catapulted bombs at his face, so y'know. There's also that
Anyway that's my spicy crack theory for the day
The spirit of Ganondorf actually came from Groose, and the Demon King/Calamity came from Demise
Obviously I don’t ACTUALLY believe this theory but yknow. what if lmao
(im aware of all the less than fun implications that comes with this crack take, but that's for another day)

I was thinking of a loz totk au for a while now and I wanted to share it!!
So the au is a immortal! Link and zelda but with a twist. So while link and zelda are immortal so are the sages, so tulin, sidon, riju and yunobo are also immortal. Now they still age until a certain age were they stop agreeing physical and somewhat mentally.
Now you might be wondering "what about their loved ones?" Well that power that made the sages immortal also make the love one become immortal as well, but if they want to past they can like sidon's dad.
For link and zelda they change physical as well, zelda with dragon features and link getting a zonai form! Now imagining what they look like is like all the fanart of zelda is basically what she looks like (I will make art of it if people want) but link is a bit different. His hair start to look like rauru's hair, so white on top and gold underneath but the ends fade into green cause why not. Link has more fleshed out ideas then zelda(sorry), so link can change from Hylian to zonai and back, he get mineru sacred stone and becomes the new sage of spirit, he keeps rauru arm as well as the powers but the sage skill change, they now have two forms, one when link is in his hylian form they look like what they look like in game but present forms (aka look like what they look like in the present time) but in the zonai they chage to look like what they look like as dragons.
Now( I just realised I say 'now' a lot) time will go on and it will be a country until country's outside of hyrule will get into contact with them and hyrule will basically be in the 21th century, so phones and stuff exist in hyrule and only in hyrule so when they go to a gala they see that hyrule is far beyond more technology advanced compared to other countries they are a bit nervous.
This will also be a linked verse later on but yay that's all I can think of at the moment but if you have any questions please! Feel free to ask I will be happy to!

So for the evil!Rauru idea, am I correct in thinking the premise is/would be that he got corrupted by the Malice/Gloom in the thousands of centuries he was sealing Ganondorf? note for future: sucking the evil energy out of someone probably not good for health
same anon as the 'did the gloom corrupt Rauru' post, scrolled down and immediately found the post which tells me I'm wrong. (that said, is Gloom a seperate thing from Ganondorf or was he simply corrupted by his own power?)
I swear I'm gonna make a TOTK AU with Evil Rauru now.
To answer your question: I think Rauru is already somewhat sinister and manipulative without the influence of magic substances, but he absolutely could get worse from the Gloom!
But before we talk about him and our dear Ganondorf, let's talk about the nature of Malice and Gloom.
(WARNING: This is going to be long. Read at your own risk.)
Here's what Breath of the Wild tells us about Malice:
"MALICE: Poisonous bogs formed by water that was sullied during the Great Calamity. Coming into contact with one will hurt you."
Meanwhile, Gloom in Tears of the Kingdom appears to be more along the lines of toxic chemical/magical waste deposits deep underground.
You might wonder why Gloom Spawn (or Gloom Hands) exist then, if Gloom refers to deposits and are not sentient. I personally like the idea that Link does get affected from exposure to Gloom, and it messes with his mind, giving him paranoia about his own arm turning on him (hence the Gloom Hands). In other words, Gloom has the power to amplify your strongest emotion or dominant thought, and I think thematically that would be nice for Link, to understand that courage is not the absence of fear, but the presence of fear and being able to keeping standing in spite of it.
But I digress. To be completely truthful, I feel like both substances are poorly named, Malice and Gloom, and would switch them.
Why?
If you notice, Rauru has the Hylians constantly mine for Zonaite. But the Depths are abundant with Gloom. He was actively putting the Hylian society in danger to gain something out of it, and was threatening other societies (in a very kind and benevolent way of course) so they would not interfere. It's kind of a compelling villain arc, that at the end of the day, he's looking out for his people, the Zonai, and subjugating the "less civilized" Hylians to help him meet his ends.
Isn't that much more... malicious?
(I wonder how Sonia would have felt about it.)
So Gloom = Malice. Good so far?
Now, let's reverse it: Malice = Gloom.
The Malice we see in Breath of the Wild, I would still attribute to Ganondorf's doing. The Calamity is a manifestation of his sorrow and grief at the fact that despite what Zelda and he had done, the kingdoms fell under the banner of Hyrule. Rauru won. Even if it Rauru didn't get to see it himself, it still happened. It was like all Ganondorf and Zelda had worked for was nothing. And knowing that Zelda was up there, flying for a purpose that seems to be fruitless, pains Ganondorf. His Calamity is what he is experiencing. And it spills out to the rest of Hyrule (because I love when powers flare from emotions). What he doesn't realize is that he's hurting his Zelda, who watches the Calamity emerge in horror.
But anyways, nomenclature is not the hugest issue, so whenever I'm gonna refer to Gloom or Malice don't switch them, Gloom is Gloom and Malice is Malice. I just wanted to talk a little bit about the two and why their names seem to complement each other rather than themselves.
Now, onto the corruption!
I like to think that given that Ganondorf had just as much arrogance as Rauru. When he meant to seal Rauru underground, he thought he could withstand the Gloom, as it came from the world he was born into, while the Zonai came from the sky, so it would be uncharted territory to them. But in reality, it ate away at Ganondorf, and messed with his mind just like it did Link's. The secret stone on his forehead was meant to keep the corruption at bay. Unfortunately, it could only slow down the process. And so he feels trapped in his mind, and acts out because of it, misleading Link to think he is the King of Darkness.
Meanwhile, Rauru is dead, but his arm still exists (as it's on Link), so I can imagine the Gloom amplifying his lust for conquest and a "new" Hyrule (since the old one has been decimated by the Calamity). He thinks he can do this by persuading Link to save Zelda and earn "Light of Blessings" -- which is actually just short for acquiring enough of Rauru's "light" essence for Rauru to take over.
Which reasons out my post regarding how Rauru controls Link's hand!

Anything you wanna ramble about?
Jfbdksjeekdj so many things!!
I’ve been rambling about my modern au for a while so maybe I’ll do the mythical creatures thing that’s been knocking around my brain. This time :D
Have you ever heard of a Peryton? They’re essentially winged deer who are the Guardians of the Forest. Fierce and intense, magically haunting. Very cool. Some people’s interpretations have them with these really wicked fangs.
And thunderbirds!! They’re like coated in lightning and I have got to get my hands on more information on them. They’re so cool!
Which of course made me go hmmm what if, what if. And I play fast and loose with everything when I write because it’s more fun for me that way… so LU mythical creatures. I’ve seen it done a few times and LOVE the concept;
Twilight is harder than expected when you don’t want to take the easy way out. I’ve been playing with the idea of a version of Peryton for him, more wolf than deer, BUT then I remembered that Black Shucks are a mythic, ghostly dog-like creature that exist and it kind of fits in the most spooky sense. Depending on where you look at the mythos, they’re either menacing (malevolent also but eh) or companionable omens of death that usually roam a coastline. There’s also church grims, which often take the form of a black dog, and guard church cemeteries. So playing fast and loose, as I do, I thought Twilight could be the more companionable, omen bearing Black Shuck in his Mythic form and then by the time he meets Wild in BOTW, he’s more spirit-like and is more akin to a Church Grim… just on a more personal level. I think it would be a fun little idea to play with instead of meeting Wild on the Plateau and have him be like “guarding” the Shrine… Wild meets him in Blatchery Plains where he actually died and that’s where they meet.
Sky would be some form of Thunderbird and nothing will change my mind on this. It fits. SO WELL. At least from what little I remember from previous research dives on the subject. I also originally had planned to have Sky be the reason that the Faron region changes from being a big growth forest in Twi’s time to the lightning infested jungle of BOTW/TOTK. It was gonna be because he was visiting Twi, who if I had left him as a Peryton would have been bound to the forest he guarded, which was planned to be Faron! Obviously I’ve changed that somewhat… but I still like the idea so I may find a way to work it back in.
I don’t like to take the easy routes when doing these kinds of concepts, not because I look down on them but more because I like the challenge. So Hyrule is giving me a little trouble because he’s canonically got fae blood. So like fae or even changeling… but changelings are a type of fae so of course I’m going to go all in on that (and get horribly distracted because doppelgängers are a type of fae, what that’s so cool) and it’s lead me down a rabbit hole. So more on Hyrule another day…
Wind is also giving me fits because he’s going to be something ocean related and it’s gotta fit his nature, so there’s Cephali which are a type of Sea fae and then there’s others that are more commonly thought of, but I could make him something wind related a novel idea I know which means more research to be done! I had some other ideas, like mythos or superstition believed by sailors to draw inspiration for but like I said more research.
Wild! Is! A! Church Grim! Also! But he’s gonna be an amalgamation like Twi. Dryad calls to me for him, but I want to do a little more digging because it’s gonna be a connection thing for him. He’s a church grim, but all of Hyrule is the cemetery :3c hehe oops
Time is 100% a changeling. Hands down. No explanation needed. He may become something else after events of TP, he may not, we will see. I will saying nothing else because mans needs to be mysterious. It may change if I stumble across something more interesting though
Legend is a kitsune (which is also!! A type of fae!! It falls into fae rules. Very interesting.) but they’ve got that same tenuous relationship with being perceived as good versus not good. In a lot of myths, they’re the messengers of the sun goddess… which feels fitting for Legend since he’s been on the most adventures! The more intense Good vs Bad in their mythos also feels fitting because Ravio is also a kitsune! While mythos says they’re fox spirits… I don’t follow rules so they’re bunnies. Heh.
Warriors is going to be my only one without anything as of yet. I want to do more research into mythic creatures and spirits more associated with war and just haven’t had the time yet. Maybe this weekend. Some of these wouldn’t have “true forms” while on their adventure through time together… so it would be interesting to have TOTK events happen post LU events and have Wild contend with how changed his brothers have become in the years (millennia for then really) since they traveled together.
This was rrreeeaaallllllllyyy long. Oops lol

A Thousand Years as Dragons AU
MAJOR SPOILERS FOR ZELDA: TEARS OF THE KINGDOM.
also FYI I have not played TOTK myself yet, but I do know about the spoiler to an extent - no one spoilt me that was my own doing! - this AU will not be following the story of TOTK, it's all just based on one major plot point.
- The Mushroom Kingdom is attacked by a deadly entity (even worse than Bowser) with truly dark magic, and during the battle, Mario and Luigi get hurt to a point that the entity seems to have disabled their Firebrand and Thunderhand...
- Merlon explains that the only way to defeat them is by getting a magical item that only exists in the distant past. The other problem is that they can only be sent back in time, not forward. So they would need to find a way back to the present with the help of past Merlon.
Let's just say that Merlon is so powerful to the point he's ageless. I think that was supposed to be hinted at in the Paper Mario series.
- This is an incredibly uncertain risk, but Mario has confidence in Merlon, and immediately volunteers to do this task, but Luigi is totally against it.
- At first Mario doesn't understand - if he's going to the past, and the threat is happening in their current time, then it will only be in the blink of an eye to everyone else!
- Luigi understands this logic; but what Mario fails to understand is that, yes, it will be immediate for everyone else, but Mario will be alone in the past for a long time.
"I can't let you do this alone, bro."
- And immediately Mario knows what his brother wants to do, and desperately tries to convince him otherwise. He says he'll be fine, that he'll be safe, and Merlon might be able to find a way to get him back to the present faster!
- But Mario only has to look in his brother's eyes to know that he's lying to himself. The fact of the matter is that he's scared. He just wants to do the right thing, to protect those he cares about. He can't bare to drag anyone into something so dangerous, especially his own brother.
But he also knows that Luigi will follow him no matter what...
- So the Bros hug each other, hold hands, and are sent into the past by Merlon.
- They manage to find past Merlon, but to their dismay they find past Merlon has no idea what the item is they need, nor a way to get them back. But they decide to make the best of it until something comes up...
- For a while, they happily settle and live out a time in the past, hunting, fishing, setting up a cosy house, helping out the village they are staying in, but all the while trying to figure out not only what they need to save the (now) future, but also how they can get back.
- During this time they learn some important pieces of information:
"Only great magic can restore an immortal dragon to their original form."
"A power that is wounded and was originally gifted by Gods, will take a thousand years to return to its full potential."
"The spell of the immortal dragon is one that is frowned upon. While one can be forever immortal, to become an immortal dragon is to lose one's self. You forget who you are, and drift around with no sense of purpose..."
- Later on, the Bros discover a younger version of the entity attack the village, after power. They warn Merlon that this is the same entity from their future, and that they are much stronger there!
- During a great battle, Merlon manages to seal the entity away, but warns the Bros that this means the entity will awaken in the future, and the events of this will be set in motion...
- Knowing this, the Bros decide what they must do...Even though it is an unforgivable act, they beg Merlon to make them immortal dragons, in order to buy enough time to not only get back to the future, but to also regain their Firebrand and Thunderhand.
- It also means that, for a time, they will forget who and what they are. Drifting aimlessly for years until they are restored to normal.
- Mario does try to talk Luigi out of this; Merlon might find a better way to send him back! But he can't let Luigi lose himself. Like he'll just be in a long dream...
- But Luigi pulls him close, foreheads pressed together and says
- And Mario doesn't speak. Just holds Luigi closer...
"I can't let you do this alone, Mario. I'm with you, no matter what. Even if we forget everything, at least we'll protect each other.
- Merlon gives them the potion to take, as well as some gemstones to amplify their powers and to take with them (it will ensure victory, as he ominously says) and the Bros decide to do this alone...together.
- They stand outside, far on the edge of the village, and drink the potion at the same time.
- Only a few seconds later, they are overcome by agonising pain. As they are surrounded by a bright light, terrified, they cling together, refusing to let each other go for a second.
- "Luigi", Mario chokes out.
"I'm here."
- And with that, the Bros transform into the Fire Dragon and the Thunder Dragon, their bodies coiling around each other as they rise into the sky....
A thousand years pass and the people of the land tell stories about two dragons that fly the skies together. No one knows where they came from, other than the dragons are never seen apart....
