Dwight L. Moody started the Christian Fundamentalist movement by combining Capitalist ideology with traditional Christian evangelical rhetoric. His sermons are very famous in the fundie world and were responsible for the conversion of one Dexter Graves, my late Bible teacher and author of “Letters to a Dying Friend”- a right wing extremist memoir and book I can guarantee Donald Trump owns because Dexter never shut the fuck up about how Trump sent him a thank you letter for it.

Now, Dexter was also given to going on long tirades about how god wanted America to carpet bomb the Middle East to wipe out all the sinners and make the world safe for Israel. He would go into extremely graphic detail about how this would also free children from the sinful burden of being raised muslim.

For obvious reasons, this was upsetting for my class of 9-12 graders who just wanted to get a good grade in Bible and move on with our day so me and a couple other kids would regularly make comments about secular songs or movies we liked or dates with our partners so he would go on tirades about how we were dirty and sinful and stop talking about murdering kids- kinda fucked that our options were get bullied by a 70 year old man or hear about child murder but here we are.

It was during one such occurrence that he made the mistake of calling someone’s mother the w-slur and this led to the entire class turning on him. After they’d worked into a fiery frenzy about how we were all evil sinners and he alone knew the way of righteousness: he sneezed, hard. A full body sneeze. However, because he was so worked up his eyes didn’t close when he did so… and it fell out of his head. And we didn’t have to hear from him for six months.

There could be a billion trans people in the world and it still wouldn't be a bad thing because being trans is not a bad thing. Even if the rate of people discovering they are trans is "disproportionate" to trends from decades ago, that is not a bad thing. In fact, it's a natural consequence for there being more trans people being able to stay alive, and, overall, being able to live in a slightly more tolerant world. at the end of the fourth episode on quiet on set, it releases a statement by dan schneider who said, "everything that happened on the shows i ran was carefully scrutinized by dozens of involved adults. all stories, dialogue, costumes and makeup were fully approved by network executives on two coasts, etc, etc." i guess he put that statement out to try and spin this narrative so that it doesn't sound so absolutely horrific, but all it does is highlight the fact that damn near every single adult knew. they knew and did nothing. dan was able to take advantage of these defenseless children and allow other predators to prey on them and not a single adult raised hell about it. he was able to do this for years, completely unscathed, and nickelodeon offered him a huge amount of money in order to drop him from the network. the sadness and rage i feel CANNOT be put into words.

#maybe this sounds a little dramatic but i genuinely don't care. not to trauma dump BUT #i had to live in a home in which children were beaten senselessly nearly every single day for years. even when i was in high school #i was too young to do anything. i was terrified every day and all the adults in my life just sat back and let it happen #so watching things like this just makes me so mad #quiet on set

I’ve been thinking back to artist stuff in high school and man people are really weird about furry stuff in a way that seems like they’re super afraid to be associated with it at all. I don’t/didn’t consider myself a furry but I recognize my art is obviously furry-adjacent at times and I don’t mind that.

I’d almost always bring my sketch book to school with me so I can draw during breaks and stuff and the amount of times people (sometimes complete strangers!) would randomly insult me for drawing “furry shit” (once this happened bc I was drawing bojack horseman characters LMAO) like ppl are usually polite when they see me (or others from what I’ve seen) drawing in public, will either ignore it or say something nice or funny if they do comment on it, unless it’s something they think is furry art.

It’s baffling to me like this is so obviously not how these people would normally behave but it feels like they’re so afraid of being seen as cringe they feel they have to point out any cringe they see so that no one thinks they’re cringe. Grown adults can do this stuff too but it was obv much more common for me in high school.

And it was so shitty how it made me actually somewhat ashamed of drawing anything that could be perceived as furry, even though I’ve loved drawing animals my whole life since I was a child, and I never had anything against furries and had both irl and online friends who were furries.

I don’t feel any of that shame anymore and just draw whatever I want (it helps that I’m no longer getting strangers commenting on my art like this irl, and that I’m not as insecure a person as I was in high school) it’s just so fucking weird that people feel comfortable acting like this

in light of recent canon academic conversations, riz adaine gorgug study sessions have never been more real to me. gorgug helps riz + adaine get out of their own heads when they’re overworking themselves, riz + adaine help gorgug with alternative studying methods because he learns best through visuals + experience. fabian’s there occasionally when he has a particularly difficult assignment/test but he makes them all swear never to speak of it in order to protect his “image.” kristen has shown up exactly twice: once for advice on a group project that was two months overdue & once to just lay on the floor and relax for an hour before leaving. fig didn’t know the study sessions were happening until sophomore year & now keeps getting monthly bans because every time she shows up she ends up accidentally distracting riz + adaine. also, sometimes after/in the middle of really long study sessions riz adaine & gorgug go to basrar’s together to unwind but fabian kristen & fig Are Not Invited (they do still text to ask if anyone wants something brought back from basrar’s. they’re not heartless, after all).

Sometimes it's surprising to me that after the Azriel bonus chapter, people still think Elain and Azriel are endgame (it's ok to ship them though, I ship Azriel with Eris sometimes💀), but why force it on others? Why attack artist just because they choose to draw a ship you don't agree with (when they've already done yours several times)? Why hurt/insult others in the process? Go on AO3 and fantasize all you want (that's the point of the site after all, to quench your thirst - I mean... that's what I do🤕).

*I* was an Elriel (maybe not a strong one, I'm very open minded) before, but after reading that chapter I just gave up lmao (I sulked a bit while starring at gorgeous fanarts with them, wiped my tears and moved on). And I do understand how it feels to get very attached to a ship, I still think of Harry and Hermione for God's sake. Or Draco... 😶‍🌫️

Not only that his inner monologue gave me the ick, then his arrogance and entitlement when speaking with Rhys, but his gift compared to Lucien's was just... lame (and I really like Azriel, even if the way he behaved there dissapointed me).

And if it wasn't enough, after that dramatic *in a raspy male voice* "Oh babycakes, it was a mistake!" and Elain giving him back the necklace like a lost battle, out of absolutely nowhere Gwyn's character shows up! In the same chapter! It has to mean something, right? Not only that, but it's obvious she makes him curios, her character challanges his (I won't even mention his shadows making heart-eyes at her).

Tbh... I don't think TOH should get a pass for it's shoddy plot just because some of the stuff that happens within the plot invokes an emotional response in people.

First of all, people react to concepts with varying degrees of emotional intensity based on what they like and/or their life experiences. Secondly, you can still create resonate moments with a good plot lmao.

There is no reason TOH should get a pass for making Belos a non threat for most of Season 1 just because people think x, y, z moment is wholesome or whatever.
