The most inane smalltalk about things big and small from the origins of moths to whether aliens were out there or just chose to ignore the +44 area code. Oscar always laughing in the right places when Lando regales him about tales of his terrible online dating stories, Oscar always picking the pickles out of the roast beef bagels before he passes one to Lando. The corner of Lando’s sofa that Lando has started to think of as Oscar’s because he’s there so often, reading one of his books or trying to speedread a JSTOR article about the lifecycle of urban pathogens while Lando worked on artwork for his upcoming store launch. 

Lando’s synapses are firing too fast. His brain did that most days, and that was what made him exceedingly good at his job, and today in particular - it doesn’t feel like there’s any logical way out. 

Lando remembers that movie they watched once though. As a joke. The one they both pretended not to enjoy, with Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds in Alaska. The one they watched when Oscar sat next to Lando on the sofa, and they both pretended the entire night that their knees weren’t touching. 

His therapist said he had a tendency to get ahead of himself when under stress. But it’s a joke, it’s not serious, there’s no way—

Lando shoves his hands in his pockets. That came out way more calm and cooler than he thought it actually would.  And to his credit, Oscar doesn’t drop his mug of tea. Lando knows that’s his favourite one, because Lando got it for him, and it says Science is my superpower. Oscar does, however, slightly shift his grip on the mug.

“I feel like it’d be complicated to explain to my mum why I randomly married my upstairs neighbour?”

Oscar tilts his head. There’s a glimmer of something focused, maybe even hungry in his eyes. Oscar gets like that when his mind turns, when he’s working on an especially difficult thesis, when the pieces are forming and he can lock into the crucial details.

Lando is a little alarmed at how much he already recognises it, and how much more often he’d like to draw that reaction out. 

“If the facts don’t fit the theory, then reexamine the facts. Right?” Oscar says.

And Lando is there, in the doorway. Conscious that Mrs Kapoor might’ve heard everything, but all the more conscious that there’s a hammering in his heart that he can’t tell is nervousness, or anticipation. 

What’s the stress limit for a joke you’re probably already pushing too far? Lando thinks.

He isn’t sure.

Y/n went without, having barely any Talent, clutching the silver rod that George had gifted them as a defence. Lucy and Lockwood strode ahead, George hanging back with Y/n as they dawdled.

"You alright?"

"I don't really know. I mean, she died of cancer, so that shouldn't really mean that she comes back as a Visitor, right? She died in her sleep, peacefully, and spent her last couple of months seemingly happy."

George was quiet for a while, debating what to say. He often had a habit of putting his foot in it, being the socially awkward person that he was, and dating Y/n had meant that he'd found himself thinking before he spoke much more. At first, he'd barely spoken to them when it was just the two of them, being too scared that he'd say something wrong and never see them again, but when they'd admitted that his blunt attitude was one of the things they most adored about him, he'd opened up more. Still, in situations like this a little thinking was required, especially since his partner's dead mother coming back as a ghost was the topic of conversation.

"Generally, Visitors seem to come back for unfinished business. Maybe she just wants to say good bye?"

"She had months for that though." Y/n was worrying their bottom lip in their teeth, a habit that had become more frequent since their mother's death.

"I really don't know, Y/n/n. Once we're there, though, I'm sure I will," he said, offering a small smile as they turned down their street. Y/n tried a smile of their own, but the worry was still there, growing with every step closer to their house the agents got.

"Come on you two, we're losing time!" Lockwood called, and George rolled his eyes.

"Ignore him. Those two can do without us for a bit if they need to. You alright? You're looking a bit pale."

"I- I'm fine, Georgie. I'm just... not really looking forward to this."

"I get it. Hey," he called, brushing his hand against Y/n's. "We'll sort it, yeah?" He linked their hands, and Y/n smiled properly, the action lighting up their face.

"Yeah. Thank you, George," they replied earnestly, planting a kiss on his cheek.

Y/n was worried.

It had been an hour since Lockwood, Lucy and George had set up, and while Y/n stayed in the kitchen, surrounded by the defences and armed with the silver that George had handed over earlier ("Just in case," he'd said, no hint of humour in his expression), the three agents had been eerily silent. They'd heard the creak of an occasional floorboard, and a whisper of voices from the living, but aside from that anybody observing the situation would think that Y/n was alone in the house.

They had zoned out a few minutes ago, getting bored of standing and waiting with nothing to do, when suddenly a figure appeared in the doorway.

"Mum?"

Their voice was shaking, damn it. Y/n had promised that they wouldn't get too scared, but the possibility of seeing their mother (and the further chance that their mother would try and attack them) was terrifying.

The figure crept closer, glowing faintly, and Y/n held their breath. It stopped just inside the doorway, and distantly Y/n heard themselves calling for George. Everything else was a haze. Time seemed to stop as the two of them observed each other, and while Y/n could feel a chill creeping up, the warmth they felt at seeing their mother's face again made it seem insubstantial. The trance was broken when Y/n was shoved to the floor, George landing on top as Lockwood and Lucy fought back against the now violent ghost of Y/n's mother.

"Are you alright? Y/n? Y/N?"

"Stop shouting! I'm fine," they huffed, unsure why George seemed so panicked.

"You were very nearly permanently ghost-locked, idiot!" Y/n's eyes widened.

"W-what? But I was fine! I didn't- I didn't think I was there for that long, was I?"

"Maybe, maybe not, but when we came in you were glazing over. I tried calling out to you but you weren't responding."

"Oh, so that's why you rugby tackled me to the floor." George leapt into action again at that, pushing up and offering a hand out to Y/n. Lockwood and Lucy had found the Source, and now the agency head stood with a small object wrapped in a silver net. "Is that... is that her?" Lockwood nodded.

"A comb, of all things. Luce says it was her favourite?"

"The one with the fake pearls in it?" Y/n asked, unable to tear their eyes off of the object.

"Yeah, looked like it. She um, she showed me something else," Lucy spoke, a little tentative. Y/n gestured for Lucy to continue, and the girl lead the two of them upstairs to their parents' bedroom. "There was a moment when she uh, she pointed to this drawer. There was a letter inside, addressed to you. I think she wrote it for you, and wanted you to have it. Did you know about it?"

Y/n shook their head. "No. I had no idea." Carefully they opened the drawer and lifted out the envelope inside, trying desperately to hold back the tears at seeing their mother's handwriting.

"Do you... do you wanna read it now? Because I can give you some space if you do," Lucy asked gently, placing a hand on Y/n's shoulder.

"Please, thanks Lucy." The girl wrapped them in a hug, tight and crushing, and when she pulled away she wiped the tears off of Y/n's cheeks.

"We'll be in the kitchen if you need anything, alright?" Y/n nodded, sitting down on the bed when Lucy had shut the door behind her with a soft click and opening the letter.

A short while later a knock sounded on the door, and George's messy curls poked in, followed by the rest of his body. "Hey, how are you doing?" He came over and sat down next to them, placing an arm around their shoulders and bringing them in for a slightly awkward hug.

"I'm okay. I think," Y/n frowned.

"What... what did the letter say?"

"Just about how much she loves me, and how proud she is of me. It's funny, it doesn't feel like she's gone a lot of the time, but every now and then I'll see something that makes me think of her and I just... I have to stop myself from breaking down." They paused for a moment. "The paper smells like her. It's nice to have this, as a reminder of her."

George didn't say anything, instead just stroking their back, and they were glad for the comfort. He might have a tendency to say the wrong thing sometimes, or accidentally offend people, but George was a damn good partner, and Y/n was glad that he was there to help them.

The two of them headed downstairs a few minutes later, finding Lockwood and Lucy arguing about what the best kind of biscuit was over cups of freshly made tea. George joined the argument, gesturing wildly as he fought for his biscuit of choice, and Y/n could only chuckle slightly at their partner's antics. They gladly accepted the mug of tea that Lucy pushed their way, and smiled at the three agents gathered in their kitchen.

Their mother might be gone, leaving a hole in Y/n's heart, but these three people in front of them were just what was needed to fill it.

Mitsuya

Mitsuya had been working longer hours than usual lately. He had a fashion show at the end of the week and while he promised to make time for you, he had failed to keep it for several days in a row. Now he was arriving home to your shared apartment, a carefully made dinner long gone cold still sat on the dining table. A frown formed on his lips as he searched to find you curled up on your bed in the fetal position, crying softly. 

“Hey, hey, come on now.” He said softly as he laid down beside you, wrapping you in his arms. You flinched at the soft touch, and he instantly felt a huge wave of guilt wash over him. “I’m sorry,” He said as he tried to pepper you with kisses, but each time you shied away from him. 

“This is the fourth night in a row, Taka.” You mumbled, obviously still very upset with him. A few kisses weren’t going to dig him out of the hole he had put himself in by overworking. He had always struggled with time management, especially when a deadline was so close. 

“I know,” though he sounded regretful, you were skeptical of how bad he truly felt. Mitsuya wanted nothing more than to bring that pretty smile back to your face. “Why didn’t you call me? I told you before you should. I get so wrapped up that I forget to check the time.” 

“I just figured if you cared, you would want to come home and spend time with me.” You replied, and he knew that your fractured trust was partially his fault. He kissed the top of your head, his lips lingering there for a long time as you lay in silence for what felt like hours. 

“I’ve been working on a surprise for you.” He admitted sheepishly, “I wasn’t going to tell you but the grande finale to my show is a garment I made especially for you. I’ve just been so obsessed with making it perfect that I guess I lost sight of what’s more important, which is our relationship. 

A small smile lit up your face, “Really? For me?” 

“Yes, of course.” He said, giving your body a gentle squeeze as he hugged you. “Just for you.”

Baji

Baji had always been a bit of a wild card. He was known to fly off the handle at small inconveniences, and something even had simple as hunger could make him do violent things. However, one thing Baji had never done was show this kind of violence towards you.

It wasn’t until one particularly bad night, he had gotten into a fight and was still high on adrenaline when he came home. He began slamming doors to cabinets, kicking furniture, and generally being aggressive towards inanimate objects. 

He was too caught up in his anger to notice the way you were cowering away from him. How every loud sound that he made would make you swallow hard and pull the blanket wrapped around your shoulders even tighter. It wasn’t until he realized that you were missing from his side did he notice how petrified you looked. 

“Hey, hey, Angel I’m sorry.” He murmured, knowing he’d gotten caught up in his own head again. He didn’t mean to frighten you, and while he’d never lay a hand on you he knew that your trauma response couldn’t be helped. He put on a smile to try and show that he wasn’t upset and you let out a relieved sigh. 

“I hate when you get like that, Kei…” You said in a quiet voice.

“I know,” He replied, pulling you into a tight hug. “I got carried away again. There’s some ice cream in the freezer, why don’t I make us both a bowl and you put on a movie you like, would that make you feel better?” 

You nodded, relieved that he could be so sweet and understanding despite such a rough exterior. Baji pulled away from you and grinned. “Go pick out what you want to watch, then.” He watched as you shuffled into the living room and he made a mental note that next time he should just stay out until he’s calmed down.

sea fox post time

All under the cut cause I'm gonna ramble like crazy <3

The sea fox is genuinely absolutely massive, it's not obvious in this image but the damn thing is huge, more than big enough to fit a good few life boats and row boats in it (and fit them it does)

The sea fox is so large because it used to be a flagship, things have changed a lot since then (although it is still just as big and long (don't take that out of context)) but nonetheless it's still a functional ship, and Marbled gets repairs and upgrades done on it frequently

When Marbled had acquired the ship, it wasn't in particularly good condition, so he took it to a friend and they basically striped the ship down to it's skeleton and then rebuilt it, with Marbled's specifications of course

The ship does still have all of it's sails and stuff, it genuinely needs them to move, these images are just more simplified for the sake of I don't know how to draw ships-

The ship has massive ear shaped buoys on each side, which are meant to keep the ship from sinking in particularly stormy and weather and in the case of aggressive sea monsters (they are also just there to keep the ship more stable)

You might be wondering, "Why is there what looks to be a lamp on the end of the 'tail' of the ship?" Short answer, Blue Moonstone.

Long answer, Marbled had it installed after an incident where Moonstone got turned around and disoriented during a particularly nasty and foggy storm in some unfortunately murky water, her tail smacked into the side of the ship by accident due to her confusion, they eventually got her up into the ship and after that storm Marbled opted to make a detour back to his friend to get the lamp installed.

Circling back to the life boat talk-

One thing about the sea fox is that it has a "mouth" so to speak, two massive metal pieces, of which are connected by a surprisingly strong chain, and the bottom jaw lowers to allow life boats and row boats into the safety of the built in dock in the ship

Marbled used to be a lot kinder back when he first had the dock installed, things have changed and he's realized things, but he refuses to remove the dock, because even if he's a jackass sometimes now he can't allow himself to let people die, even if they deserve it

The crew's quarters are absolutely massive, involving pretty much an entire living room alongside all the beds and hammocks, the crew live pretty well in their own opinion and they wouldn't trade it for anything

The loot and major supply storage is connected to the infirmary, of which the infirmary door is, kind of stuck permanently open :'D unfortunate for the sea fox's paramedic, but at the least everything in there is very easy to tie down

The kitchen has it's own food storage just above it, which the quartermaster (remember the buff lady i was drawing the other day alongside two other cookies? yeah she's the quartermaster) is grateful because it makes sending the small crew members for ingredients a lot easier

A fun thing to know is that the whole crew (spare for the littles) all take turns cooking, even Marbled takes a turn every so often

The brig/prison is placed close to the ship entrance of the dock, another set of stairs just outside the second door leading up to the brig. The space in between the two doors is sort of just a mud room, if you've ever had one of those- put short anyone brought in from the dock is checked over for injuries, general sickness, and cleaned up before they're properly brought onto the ship

The captain's quarters are at the top of the ship, and include Marbled's office at the front of the room, and then up a few small steps and behind a door, is his bedroom, lavishly furnished and with a large round bed for his comfortability (trying to sleep in a rectangular bed as a centaur can be, awkward-), his bedroom is like the definition of cozy

Unfortunately for Marbled he does not get his bedroom to himself because Moonstone and multiple of the littler crewmates can and will barge into his bedroom and lay down with him without warning (the littles need the comfort and Moonstone is very used to sleeping in cuddle piles)

(don't worry he gets used to the lack of privacy eventually, and finds ways around 'em)

Welcome to my essay on why DAVID MILLER is the most PERFECT human being in Jacksons diary and the plot does him dirty (it's 9 PM and i slept 5 hours last night so 🤩)

Season 1.

#1. David is the first and, initially, ONLY person to show kindness to Jackson and accept him when he is new. Immediately, he treats Jackson like an old friend, making him feel welcome and comfortable without a second thought. Even Pamela and Brenda don't show the same kind of acceptance and outgoing inclusion that he does. Yes, he brushes of Exers actions towards Jackson at first, but in his defense he doesn't yet know about the magic AND he is doing the best he can keeping the balance between hinting at Exer to stop his aggression while slowly trying to merge Jackson in with them. He just wants Exer and Jackson to get along, and yes Exers hostile behaviour was a red flag BUT Exer is his oldest friend so obviously he have more tolerance for Exer and put his feelings first in the end. He persistently tries to include Jackson and be kind and friendly to him despite the influence of his friend, which is more than a lot of douchebag 17 year olds can say for themselves.

#2. David is quick to forgive, a favour which Jackson does NOT return (I'll mention this later) . When he is under the impression that Jackson was creeping on his sister, he had a strong and, admittedly, disproportionate reaction. However, as soon as things got cleared up, despite Exers misleading him or planting doubtful hints, David apologises for getting things wrong and leaves it all in the past.

#3. Protectiveness. In itself, loyalty and protectiveness for your friends and family is an admirable trait, one that David possesses in excess. It does lead him to jumping to conclusions too quickly and acting harshly in defense of his sister or Exer, the most extreme example being his hostile attitude to Pamela. But an entirely flawless character would feel superficial and annoying, and David's accountability and forgiveness and will to improve always makes up for this. And all of his less defensible actions do stem from a good place within. He also shows this trait in little ways, like defending girls being sexually harassed in the hallways or defends Exer when he is attacked by Jackson. He eventually takes against Jackson when he sees him beating the crap out of Exer in the hallway, which without the context of the magic and the abuse Exer had been carrying out over the season, this seems like a pretty damn reasonable thing to ice someone out about.

#4. David has others interests at heart and he gives people the benefit of the doubt. He sees the good in people. Exer manipulates David into believing that Jackson doesn't really like him and doesnt want to be around the REDs (using magic primarily). David isn't quick to believe Exers assertion that Jackson doesn't like them, he only believes it after many instances in a row. And even then, his reaction isn't with anger or disbelief- in fact, he wonders what he could be doing wrong, and resolves to give Jackson the space he needs while STILL maintaining his civility and politeness. It's almost as if he was stepping back but leaving the door open for Jackson to reach out if he wanted to, an incredibly mature reaction that shows empathy and emotional intelligence.

Season 2

This is where I start to get pretty annoyed.

I will acknowledge that David was stubborn to make up with Exer over his sister, but there are clear character motivations there and feelings of betrayal and being lied to that are clearly conflicting him, so their eventual make-up is even more satisfying and probably shouldn't have happened any other way.

What pisses me off is the fact that Jacksons Diary is trying to convince us that David is somehow equally responsible for what happened to Jackson throughout season 1?!?! David mentions several times how bad he feels about his "bullying" towards Jackson (which never took place, seeing as bullying is a repeated act of malice with no reasonable motivation) and everyone else just nods along as if David DID do something wrong.

Then he also confesses to bullying Jackson and reaps the consequences of it? The only people responsible were Exer and Ron (lets admit it, Ron was needlessly rude and hostile to Jackson from the beginning), so it makes no sense to me why it is portrayed as if David, Pamela and Brenda all had a hand in it. It also makes me dislike Jackson more as a character that he seems to hold David to it even after David's apology, seeing as David knew nothing of the magic or the bullying and only reacted to what he saw, which Jackson KNOWS. ESPECIALLY after David showed him nothing but forgiveness and friendliness throughout season one.

David is essentially another victim of Exers magical manipulation and miscommunication in the first season, which I think should be acknowledged instead of just pinning the blame on everyone who ever took Exers side when he literally MANIPULATED them! I think a friendship between David and Jackson should exist again once Jackson stops being emo and feeling sorry for himself, and Jackson needs to return some of that tolerance and forgiveness that David showed him earlier on. At some point Jackson just viewed Exer and everyone associated with him as a collective evil, and now he had somewhat forgiven Exer and Ron and fully forgiven Brenda and Pamela. So tell me why David has been lumped in with Exer in the kind-of-forgiven club as if what he did was NEARLY as bad? He, much like Brenda, was more of a pawn in Exer's game. I just feel like the character has been so wronged by pretty much everyone around him and deserves to be cut a little slack because he really didn't do that much wrong and is basically held accountable for Exer's actions throughout season 2 (You could say he's taking one for the team, or going through it with Exer because he's a loyal friend, and that just makes him even better and proves my point further)

On top of being held accountable for SHIT HE DIDNT DO, he also got kicked out by his dad and is just having a really rough time. I think David was a huge part of Exer's redemption arc and he is a good influence, optimist with boundless love and kindness and a character who does not deserve all this shit.

Basically I love David hate Jackson and Ron end of rant bye love you 😘

So! after all this time! i got my act together and finally got a good ref n stuff for my ghostsona! I now present to you: Harry! (basic info/extra art under cut)

-Harry, (otherwise known as the Schoolboy Ghost) he/him pronouns (genderfluid)

-chinese 14 y/o kiddo <3

-extremely shy and anxious, especially around others. however he enjoys reading books and doodling, its calming and he likes being alone in peace and quiet. Also a huge ass nerd. Despite being generally sweet and kind natured, he can be quite snarky if something is truly pissing him off or if he just wants to be alone

-Voice sounds very young-teenager-like. Kinda like steward in a way? but more immature and unsure kinda sounding-

-That gold star on his uniform is supposed to be a reference to the gold stars teachers give out to good students, as well as bc i didnt feel like making a fucking school crest or whatever-

-Was a private school student in a very prestigous sorta school. He was extremely successful n smart n all, however at one point the pressure and stress to maintain this streak got too much and he commit suicide by jumping off a building.

-Name is a reference to the fact that he is very Hairy, having a fucking mass of course, wild hair. He utilizes it by using it as storage space (ex, the elevator button)

-haunts floor xx, The Library, consisting of a spooky library, mazes of organized bookshelves, rows of old ass computers and desks and workstations, a lil lounge area, a lil storytime kids section, beanbags, front desk, etc.

-As Luigi navigates through the rows of shelves, acting as a giant maze with some Secret entrances n stuff, he eventually comes across the lil kids section, a corner with space for storytime, complete with shelves of childrens books and toys. Sitting in the middle of this area, is Harry, who appears to be happily drawing in a book, taking and putting away pencils from his hair

-When Luigi sees this, he is obviously scared, however determined to get that elevator button he noticed in his hair. When Harry notices him, he runs off, scared shitless

-the battle works where luigi needs to track the ghost down with the darklight, revealing he is possessing a bookshelf, which springs to life and proceeds to attack him, spitting books, paper airplanes, trash, etc. and also tryna body slam him. Luigi attacks by, when given the right moment to whip behind him, to plunger the back of the shelf and slam that mf

-when the bookcase is destroyed, he tumbles out, stunned and sucked by luigi, before managing to run off again and fade away, the process repeating again in a different area

-Once his hp is about 50ish, instead of running away from the broken shelf, he will retreat into a book, now bouncing around aggressively and quickly like an angry dog, leaping up and biting as well as spitting papers at him

-luigi defeats him by tiring him out and trying to flip him onto his side using that elevating vacuum move thing idk what its called, then he can plunger him and slam until the book is destroyed, then sucking him up once and for all for the elevator button

-In the lab, he is calmly sitting, drawing in a book

-Harry's extremely upset about his death, and makes up for it in the afterlife by spending his time studying/reading books (of free will), drawing, playing with toys, etc

-hes allowed to stay bc he manages the library, cleaning n organizing the place for others n all bc he finds it fun. also he helps with the hotel's finances and other problems from time to time too

For the ask game!

1, 3, and 4 for the oldest oc you've made! (creation not age)

(Not mad nor any ill will towards you <3 but I have history with the question of oldest/first oc I made. I've been asked that multiple times in a row lol)

I'm gonna answer this for Jetter/Peaches (she/her) bc she's pretty old at this point and still in use! Also bc I thought her creative journey is worth documenting! (I'm actually working on a design timeline post for her!)

1 - what was the first element of your character you remember considering? (name, backstory, appearance ect)

Umm appearance I'm pretty sure, I remember really vividly imagining her presence and everything back when she made her debut in the rp where she was created (or created for). Idk about backstory but as an element of her character I also obviously had her status in-story very strongly in mind right from the get go since she was basically introduced as "Here's that authority figure of our characters' group oooooooh". So like to sum up, the first thing was just her presence and vibe (Tall, intimidating/mysterious looking, quiet and formal but turns out she's actually nice and sweet off hours but isn't allowed to show that)

3 - How did you choose their name?

It's half "Sounded cool" And half "This warrior has a very grim name bc of in story lore" (cracks knuckles). Jetter, legal name assigned at birth, is derived from an in world weapon, a sort of rocket launched bomb, which are categorized by color according to how dangerous/destructive they are. The most destructive ones are black (called Black Jets), and her parents were like "Ah yes our son shall be named something great to represent his strength and power, I'm sure he'll grow up into a mighty warrior!". So it's like, she's black (the color black, not a poc, she's not a human) and they expect great things from her. I've considered changing this part of the lore bc there's a conflict between me liking the name Jetter purely bc of how it sounds in my mouth, but knowing that the character herself would have baggage over the name and if given the chance might change it. FYI she's a trans woman who grew up in a society where everyone of her class has to be strong and are automatically assumed to be more aggressive and tough by nature, whereas she's actually a very gentle, peace loving soul. Sure, she has aggression obviously, but she hates being branded by violence and being labeled something dangerous.

Now the second thing, Peaches. Back when i made the decision to trans her gender I wondered if she'd want to change her name and if so, to what? I remembered her fav fruit, Peaches, and it just felt. Cute. I'm still really really attached to her og name which is why I keep referring to her as Jetter/Peaches (also bc she hasn't canonically changed her name yet so it's not incorrect either. It's still wip). I thought maybe she'd just be called J for short, which I've also been doing. The name thing is still ongoing but rn I'm thinking maybe she'll relegate the Jetter name to a last name and take on either Peaches as her first, or just be called J for short

4 - in developing their backstory, what elements of the world they live in played most influential parts?

Oops I pretty much answered this already in the prev question 😅 the name is so intrinsically tied to her lore and original world. But definitely absolutely the fact that she was born into the warrior "caste" in her kingdom, that has shaped so so much of her person. The expectations, prejudice and stereotypes, the mold she was forced to fit, the authority position she was put in which put her one step up in the oppression ladder but only so that she'd be punching down on her own kind and not by choice. I'm trying to rework alot of this with my current understanding of these topics. But I'm talking about the (kinda touchy) past here. MHA Character ratings pt. 1/7

I've wanted to rate MHA characters for a while now, but felt weird about posting it on my main blog, so I'm doing it here.

There'll be 10 characters at time, with a rating for their hero/villain name, quirk name, hero/villain outfit, their characterization, and then their average rating.

Average rating does not indicate how well I like them. (though certain ratings might be influenced by how well i like the character)

Also, these are based on my own opinions, please don't be a dick about anything and any unnecessary hate will result in a blocking

Anyways, On with the ratings!

Pro-Heroes

1.) Todoroki Enji -

Hero name: Endeavor - His hero name works really well with his character, the word means to try hard to do or achieve something, which is the core to Enji's character. 8/10

Quirk name: Hellflame - That's just a dope name in general, and since he has a fire quirk it tells you straight up what's going on. I think it also works well in telling you that he's not a 'nice' guy in general since the word hell is negatively associated most of the time. 8/10

Hero Uniform - I dunno, he looks weird and off putting to me, it also makes him look a lot bigger than he actually is, which is good for intimidation (he looks better in civilian clothes to me, and i'm always thrown by how much smaller he looks). I'm also just not a big fan of spandex hero costumes in general either so.... 3/10

Character - He's a grade A bitch, the man is literally introduced as an abuser, something he doesn't really stop being until after becoming number 1, (I could make a whole nother post on Enji's character and why I wanna strangle him, but that's not for here). He's a great hero, you don't make #2 consecutively for years in a row without being good at your job. However, a lot of that is overshadowed by the fact that he's an asshole. Honestly, his rating is what it is just because I don't like him, and I probably never will, even if he's "getting better". 4/10

Overall rating - 5.75/10

2.) Takami Keigo -

Hero name: Hawks - It's a good name, but I don't think it really fits into his character well. Hawks are predatory birds and when a character is given a link like that they're usually aggressive, but I don't think that fits with Hawks. Then again, he might not have picked the name himself, the Commission might have picked it with an idea of the type of person they wanted him to be. 7/10

Quirk name; Fierce Wings - pretty cool name, and tells you that he has wings and that they're something you gotta be careful about

Hero Uniform - It's, eh. I'm personally not fond of it, I think it's just the jacket that bothers me, it looks weird on him, he looks pretty good without it. It is necessary though because he flies fast and high and needs to keep from freezing, the same way the headphones and earmuffs are. (maybe i just don't like the beige color). 5/10

Character - He is so relatable to me, and he cares so much about people in general. He's so willing to ruin himself to help other people. His character is just so interesting to me. (yeah, i'm a Hawks simp) 9/10

Overall rating - 7.5/10

3.) Tsunagu Hakamada -

Hero name: Best Jeanist - It's a weird name, but it fits him given that he's a popular hero and his quirk works best with denim 7/10

Quirk name: Fiber Master - I mean, he is the master of fiber, but yeah, the name tells you that he works with fiber and the 'master' implies that he has great control over, which he does. 8/10

Hero Uniform - It doesn't look bad, it's just a lot of denim, and the high collar is weird to look at, though I'm sure it's just so there's more fiber for him to work with. (wait, wait, wait, is he wearing 2 tops, that's egregious, take a point off) 6/10

Character - He's very level headed and is pretty smart, you can't make #4 without being able to do you job well, and having a good personality helps make that spot. He's just the kind of person Bakugo needs, I know a lot of people think someone like Mirko would be better, but Bakugo's biggest issue is that he's very abrasive, and not in a good way. He's a jerk a lot at the beginning and that's something that needs to brought down, he does not need to be insulting everyone he sees, Jeanist is exactly the kind of person to help with that. He's high enough ranking that Bakugo will listen, and has a steady vibe, he's not the kind to get riled up easily and that's necessary for dealing with Bakugo. 7/10

Overall rating - 7/10

4) Usagiyama Rumi -

Hero name: Mirko (or MIruko) - I couldn't find a translation for her hero name, so I don't know if there's a significance to it or not, so, 7/10

Quirk name: Rabbit - it definitely describes it, she's got rabbit ears that hear more, really powerful legs, and some 'animal senses' that alert to danger faster than other people 7/10

Hero Uniform - it's a leotard with some thigh-high boots, mmm, it's a bit sexualized. You can't say the leotard is so her legs are free to move better when she's wearing thigh-high boots, personally it gives a bit of a playboy bunny feel. But, she does look good, the outfit isn't off putting in anyway so, 7/10

Character - she's not aggressive but, she's very strong-willed. I think that as she's an Asian women her being more fiery is good given that Asian women are stereotypically shy and soft, so it's a good subversion 7/10

Overall rating - 7/10

5.) Susugu Mitarai -

Hero name: Wash - it's such a basic name, it doesn't give much except that it has something to do with cleaning 4/10

Quirk name: Clean Bubbler - it actually cleans, as seen in one chapter, so the name describes it well, it's an ok name 6/10

Hero Uniform - he is dressed as a fucking washing machine, I despise him, it's not even him just being a sentient washing machine, that would be weird but fine, the man chooses to dress that way, its ridiculous 1/10

Character - you don't really see much but he seems like a nice enough guy, he helps people even if they're being dicks about it 6/10

Overall rating - 4.25/10

6.) Ryuko Tatsuma -

Hero name: Ryukyu - the kanji used for ryu means dragon, and kyu sounds close to how the kanji for nine is pronounced, so it fits given that she transforms into a dragon and was #9 in the rankings 8/10

Quirk name: Dragon - wow, so descriptive, but it fits, she transforms into a dragon 7/10

Hero Uniform - it's a very pretty outfit and she's still wearing it when she transforms and it looks nice on her, the claws over her eyes is interesting as well 7/10

Character - mature and eloquent, another woman who doesn't fall into stereotypes, she gets to be a badass dragon but isn't super masculinized, she cares about the girls she has intern 7/10

Overall rating - 7.25/10

7.) Seruki -

Hero name: Selkie - he's a seal heteromorph but the name isn't just straight up Seal, selkies are mythological creature who are seals that can shed their skin and take a human form, he's a good mix between looking human and looking like a seal, it mixes really well 10/10

Quirk: Spotted Seal - it makes him a seal/human and is a good name that tells you exactly what's going on, and again, it's a bit more than just Seal 8/10

Hero Uniform - he's wearing a wetsuit and googles, it's visually unobtrusive and fits for the type of work he does 8/10

Character - yo, he's great, I love him, he's serious when he needs to be but is also very goofy other times, he's also one of the few heroes that aren't like main characters that the kids actually like 9/10

Overall rating - 8.75/10

8.) Kugo Sakamata -

Hero name: Gang Orca - a bit intimidating name, but necessary against villains and criminals, and he's an orca! orca's are cool, i like them 7/10

Quirk - Orcinus, well, it's not straight up Orca, it tells you that he's got some orca thing going on 7/10

Hero Uniform - very dapper looking, though the cape/tail whatever looks a little off with the way it hangs 7/10

Character - you don't see much of him but apparently he gives presentations at aquariums and that's so cute 8/10

Overall rating - 7.25/10

9.) Taishiro Toyomitsu -

Hero name: Fat Gum - mmm, it sorta works, like if you told me his quirk and then his name, I'd be like 'that works', but just the name doesn't really give much 6/10

Quirk name: Fat Absorption - his fat absorbs things and can even hold stuff in it, pretty spot on 7/10

Hero Uniform - he wears what looks like a tracksuit and some boots and gloves, it's not bad, it's just kinda bland, it probably helps him look soft to make sure people aren't scared and is easier to absorb and hold stuff since it's more flexible 6/10

Character - he's so nice, his jovial attitude meshes well with Kirishima and is a better personality for Amajiki to be around with his anxiety, a soft but firm person to help put people at ease and reassure the people around him 9/10

Overall rating - 7/10

10.) Shino Sosaki, Ryuko Tsuchikawa, Tomoko Shiretoko, Yawara Chatora -

Hero name: The Wild Wild Pussycats; Mandalay, Pixie-Bob, Ragdoll, Tiger - they're all named after cat breeds which goes well with their outfits, none of the names have anything to do with their quirks but is pretty cute 8/10

Quirk name: Telepath, Earth Flow, Search, Pliabody - all the names tell exactly what their quirks are, they're all pretty good for search and rescue work too 9/10

Hero Uniform - they where dresses with cat theming, it's sort of cute, but feels like a lots going on 6/10

Character - they're nice and so caring for each other and others, they're all willing to help people and don't drop Ragdoll when she loses her quirk 8/10

Overall rating - 7.75/10

3. Does your character prefer to work in silence or with noise and of what kind? Rory likes to listen to podcasts and audiobooks while she's at the office! She likes to have something with a narrative to keep her from dying of bordom at work. But I think when she's doing stuff with Thad she'd just rather talk to him. Thad has become very enamored with modern technology being able to play so many noises. He likes to listen to pretty much any music, he's not picky. Sometimes he gets distracted and starts dancing along!

17. How petty is your character? hi i misread this as "how pretty is your character" and almost posted this ask with that. (For the record I don't think Rory usually puts much effort into her appearance. I think she looks nice tho. Thad on the other hand is a handsome lad and loves to look pretty.)

Rory can be a bit petty, she's not very good at hiding it and it normally manifests as her being passive aggressive or sarcastic to the person she's upset at. Thaddeus likes to think he's not easily bothered, but he's actually been holding grudges for decades and if he got the chance to get back at those people he absolutely would.

71. How good is your character at reading people and navigating social situations? Ooooh. They're both bad in different ways. Rory doesn't care much about social interactions, she just kind of goes through the motions with a monotone voice and doesn't usually care about how the other person is feeling. Thad on the other hand cares so much about what other people think of him, but he's too selfish to be able to fully commit to acting how someone needs or wants. He does make an honest try and he's very polite by nature! He's just very likely to do what he wants, or assume he knows whats best for the other party more than they do. That said they do both kind of help each other become better at interpersonal connections over time :>

114. Do any of your characters insist on going by their fullname rather than a nickname? Thaddeus really likes it when Rory gives him affectionate nicknames, it means they're getting along well! He doesn't mind too much being called Thad by people he knows but he'd rather most folks called him Thaddeus as a sign of respect. (A quote from him I've been sitting on: "Or, I will answer to mi'lord, Master, or Your Excellency, if you see fit!") I've been assuming that Rory's name is short for something because she doesn't like going by her full name. I just looked up what Rory can be short for and it's now canon that her full name is Aurora and she hates being called that. Partly because she doesn't like being associated with Sleeping Beauty. Her parents had her dress up as her three years in a row for Halloween and she's still bitter XD

Cindy as teenage “psychopath” how does she fit into the JSA for Season 3

Cindy a psychopath how does she fit into the JSA for Season 3? Now I know that DC Stargirl is fictional world that does that fiction does best - fit things to the most drama means not reality. It’s unlikely they are doing research into psychopathy in children & teens and hoping to prepare a realistic version in a 13 episode comic book show. I won’t even expect that from Doom Patrol. But here my two cents on the whole matter

In in my psychology criminology class we talked psychopathy in children and teens and it’s treatment. With further research I looked up treatment for children and teens and it’s complex matter.

“ Researchers shy away from calling children [& teens] psychopaths; the term carries too much stigma, and too much determinism. They prefer to describe children like Samantha as having “callous and unemotional traits,” shorthand for a cluster of characteristics and behaviors, including a lack of empathy, remorse, or guilt; shallow emotions; aggression and even cruelty; and a seeming indifference to punishment. Callous and unemotional children have no trouble hurting others to get what they want. If they do seem caring or empathetic, they’re probably trying to manipulate you.”

That describes Cindy doesn't it  callous and unemotional traits. a lack of empathy. Indifference to punishment. No trouble hurting others etc. But I found the next bit really fit Cindy

“So a lot of kids develop these traits out of almost a defense mechanism. And these tend to be the kids who are poor, who might live in abusive homes, who may be out on the street a lot. They have to develop a certain callousness and a certain lack of emotionality just to survive. It's believed by some that if you can put them in a safe environment that they actually will do very well and they will not end up as psychopaths. That is the thinking.”

That’s Cindy’s in a nut shell. who developed developed those traits as defense to the abuse and extermination her father when she a very young child. She was sweet kid in elementary school until her father exterminated on her and she killed her mom by mistake in fit childish angry with weapons a child shouldn’t have. Which traumatized and isolated her more. There is no treatment for adult psychopaths but kids haven’t formed their whole personality yet. So there is treatment for them. At least a people are trying to treat them and has some success. The treatment isn’t punishment but award based. It’s teaching intellignatal empathy and morals. 

“ Researchers believe that two paths can lead to psychopathy: one dominated by nature, the other by nurture. For some children, their environment—growing up in poverty, living with abusive parents, fending for themselves in dangerous neighborhoods—can turn them violent and coldhearted. Is this Cindy’s turning point? In real life this would be her turning point and she could be turned off the path of psychopathy. It looks like Courtney will be supporting this. Beth too. But others will be working against it. With the right support system and right choices Cindy could get off the path she’s on. the biggest thing is her brain isn’t finished forming. She’s made the first step wanting to change. She’s in the right enviorment which will be reward with friendship and the JSA not punishment as in jail or the shadowlands to grow. Lets see what happens. But it is fiction so this all might be moot lol

Will Assebled love ever get a final chapter??

I hope so, anon, I hope so.

To be completely honest, even if I still haven't decided how the story is gonna end, I have lots of ideas for the middle of the story. Lots of school drama tbh. The problem lies in the early chapters I'm struggling to finish. I'm working on the next chapter but it's still just halfway through. I have some ideas but I'm facing a lot of indecision about which scenes to keep and which to discard. And ocd. Ocd is driving me crazy when it comes to writing, it's my grestest obstacle and the one I'm trying to fight this year.

Can't promise next Assembled Love chapter will he ready next month but I'm ACTUALLY working on a request that is a 'what if' from that AU. Smut ofc. Like, I actually WROTE today. Crazy ik. So expect next post to be either that or another one of the ones I've been promising to post, like 'Gynecologist Albedo' (joke title), Butler Scara or Xiao wanting to have a child with reader, for example. The long fic that has the most possibilites of being updated soon is Catboys in the house. The next long chapter that follows the chronologic story with Xiao finally joining the household is just started, but I have lots of episodic content like usual. Headcanons, smut, smutty headcanons, yk, the usual.

Anyway, as I said my main problem with these early chapters of Assembled Love are indecision and it has to do with this problem: Ik in the chapter list I listed the next chapter as 'Perfect first time' implying that thr seggs is gonna happen next chap. But honestly I think this needs a bit more slowburn. Not so slow, just a bit more of interaction and situations to make the relationship between Scara and Y/N make more sense and be more enjoyable. So, what do you as readers think about this?

The second reason I don't update is toxic perfectionism. It kicks in when I care a lot about a story. At first Assembled Love was a funny side project I wrote randomly without stressing or putting much effort into it while I waited for inspo for Better Find Husbandos, the fic that was most important to me back then. So the words flowed easily and I posted a lot of chapters in a row. When I became invested in the story and really wanted to convey my exact views of the stories through the writing thr block and the toxic perfectionism came in. That's why I'm more prone to posting standalone oneshots instead of adding chapters to the AUs I care so much about, because I don't pressure myself that it has to perfectly convey my ideas about the story.

This toxic perfectionism is something I wanna tackle aggressively this year because honestly:

The not pefect fic you actually wrote will always be better than the perfect fic you never dared to try write.

Gotta ingrain that phrase in my brain permanently. Cuz I started writing to reread and enjoy my own fics but if I don't dare write I won't have anything to read. And that I read can always be edited and rewritten. Seeing authors rewrite their older fics just to make them waaay better years after encourages me to just write and have fun knowing that I can always try again and do it better next time. So that helps.

Let's not think about Assembled Love's final chapter when it's sitting just at chapter 4 and focus on the spin off that is on the making and idk, the next 3 chapters: I'm planning to add more characters with their dramas, Childe, Mona and Venti being the main ones. I want Assembled Love to be a dramatic romantic comedy in a last year of highschool setting, with teenagers struggling to become adults and debating between following what family and society expects from them and finding out what they really want to do with their lives. I want to add tropes of those movies from the United States I grew up watching and give them a twist of the dramatic telenovelas from Latin America, where I live. Will I be able to deliver? We'll see. If I don't I can always rewrite it.

Mage tower wow

Bladestorm feels kinda bad to use beyond a few ticks because it hits all targets and the damage is pitiful when hitting all the ice patches. The first phase isn't a race and for the comet storms I just slooowly worked my way out of them with Ignore Pain + Impending Victory spam, or a Warbreaker. Everything between is pretty easy until the last boss.įor Closing the Eye, Arms Warrior seemed perfectly fine. Wave 4 and 5 were really hard at first, until I learned what CDs to use where, then I did it 5 times in a row without fail. I only had 2 Infernals going into P2 which helped.įor End of the Risen Threat, I used Holy Paladin mostly because Restoration Shaman was the only other Healer I've played in SL and I heard it was buggy/really insane. The God-Queen's Fury: Retribution Paladinįor The Highlord's Return, I just used my main character, Vengeance DH might have an easier time due to avoiding knockbacks with Glide. I've just finished all 7 fights and got my Book! The list of fights I did is as follows: Trying to squeeze a few GCDs for more boss damage or AoE the adds means agonies are falling off and ID won’t be stacking quickly enough to live.įor me, Karam died at roughly 4 minutes and the fight ended at 10 minutes. Then, every 5-10 seconds, we have to channel drain life into the boss to heal enough to live through the next few casts. There isn’t a way to AoE spread agony, so once Raest berserks, we spend a ton of gcds to apply agony individually to the shadow adds we are kiting to build ID stacks. Our talent Inevitable Demise buffs our next drain life cast every time our agony hits, up to 50 stacks. Once he dies, Raest instantly Berserks and we have to desperately try to survive. The solution was to pop CDs and lust into Karam at the start of the 3rd chase to kill him before the mechanics became overwhelming. All while killing hands and trying to burn the bosses somehow. We put our pet on passive and micromanage its position to soak then to get in range of hand to interrupt then back to soak and so on. The rune soak mechanic can be soaked by our pet and often has to be because shadow adds can just be spawning right on top if it. The fight is easy up until Karam’s 3rd chase, when the hands and rune soak mechanics are both happening while trying to kite. The encounter ends when Raest dies if Karam dies first, Raest berserks and his casts 2-3 shot.įor Affliction, they doubled Raest’s health so it isn’t feasible to squeeze in enough damage to Raest to kill him before Karam needs to die, so Aff deals with berserk for a while. The fight is easy, then an aggressive burn, then a long endurance to the end.įor every other spec, the fight is kite Karam to 33% > burn for 30sec on Raest > kite Karam to 33% with Hands > burn again for 30sec on Raest > then kite while dealing with Hands and soaks and kill Raest before Karam hits you. There are seven encounters available, and your specialization will determine which challenge you'll face.Affliction (Twins) is pretty aggressively tuned. There, at Deliverance Point, you'll be able to enter the tower and engage in a challenge meant to test your skills. Travel to the Broken Isles and reach the Broken Shore from Dalaran. taking abt religious trauma so if that bothers you you might wanna skip this one

I've been reminded of it and now I've come here to say my father REALLY fucked up trying to raise good convective christians THREE TIMES IN A ROW

just to walk you through some of the shit me and my siblings (my older sibling is 26, I'm 21, and my little sister is 17) had to put up with

- we had an hour everynight where we weren't allowed to do anything but read the bible or pray,, our "timeout" when we got in trouble was sitting at the table and praying

when i was 8 and was like "hey uh i don't think god exists" i was scolded and punished for ever thinking such a thing

and to this day my father still makes it a point to bring up "what the bible says" about any of our decisions, he also regularly gets shitty with me for not giving him the joy of arguing abt it.

any way theres much more that i won't get into for 1) not completely trauma dumping and 2) for the sake of not having to add more content warnings

anyway after all that he ended up with three openly queer aggressively and vocally left wing kids (who are also 2 satanists and a wiccan )

so yeah long story short growing up as a kid trying to unlearn the gut wrenching fear of fucking up and angering god to now genuinely enjoying the things i do without fear or shame has been one of the most difficult and most rewarding experiences in my life so far and my dad can suck it <3
