Do you ever use bookmarks? And, what are you reading this week?? Happy Monday, Bookworms … Did you have a good weekend? Get any reading done? What are you reading this week? 📖 I did not get much reading done over the weekend. I did try starting a new book, but didn’t get very far. 🐉RATING: 🔥🔥🔥🔥/5 I enjoyed my second discussion with @acourtofbooks.club last night. After reading These Hollow Vows two weeks ago, we completed Lexi Ryan’s duology with These Twisted Bonds. Both YA books were fun reads with unexpected twists and romantic complications. I did find two of the main characters quite annoying at times, but their self-centered concerns were age appropriate and set them up for further growth. I would recommend this duology to those who enjoy quick and easily read fantasy. While there are some steamier moments than you would find in teen novels, these are very much written for a YA audience. Q: Give me your faerie book recs! But recs that aren't Holly Black books, Sarah J. Maas books, or the Iron Fey series. please and thank you. Bonus points if it's something I haven't heard of before. My go to recs for faerie books are basically all of Juliet Marillier's novels. Basically every one of her books (she writes mostly historical fantasy) has fey in them. She write faeries that align with the traditional Irish lore more. Kelley Armstrong's Cainesville series is another I recommend. It's urban fantasy with some good mysteries and fey meddling. 🐉RATING: 🔥🔥🔥🔥/5 I continue to be surprised by how much fun I have with the online book community. I joined @acourtofbooks.club for the first time last night to discuss These Hollow Vows by Lexi Ryan. It was a blast! Took me a minute to acclimate because everyone “talks” at once in the chat. Such a friendly and fun group! I went into These Hollow Vows completely blind. Had no clue it was a faerie story, so that was a pleasant surprise! The main character, Brie, was an odd combination of brave and naïve. She finds her confidence in the end, however, and I’m looking forward to book two where I know she’s going to kick some ass! I do believe the love triangle trope is overused in YA fantasy, but in this case it supported the plot well. And provided a pretty hot shower scene.
