Do you ever use bookmarks? And, what are you reading this week?? Happy Monday, Bookworms … Did you have a good weekend? Get any reading done? What are you reading this week? 📖 I did not get much reading done over the weekend. I did try starting a new book, but didn’t get very far. There’s a lot going on in my little world at the moment, and I’m having a hard time focusing on pretty much anything right now. 😅 Hopefully I can get in some reading this week. 🐉RATING: 🔥🔥🔥🔥/5 I continue to be surprised by how much fun I have with the online book community. I joined @acourtofbooks.club for the first time last night to discuss These Hollow Vows by Lexi Ryan. It was a blast! Took me a minute to acclimate because everyone “talks” at once in the chat. Such a friendly and fun group! I went into These Hollow Vows completely blind. Had no clue it was a faerie story, so that was a pleasant surprise! The main character, Brie, was an odd combination of brave and naïve. She finds her confidence in the end, however, and I’m looking forward to book two where I know she’s going to kick some ass! I do believe the love triangle trope is overused in YA fantasy, but in this case it supported the plot well. And provided a pretty hot shower scene. Q: Favorite book that features the fae?. 🧚 I love a story involving faeries – I can’t say I’m well versed or know a ton about fae lore, but I enjoyed what #TheseHollowVows told me! 💫 Full review on the blog now, link in bio. 🗡 Abriella (Brie) is a human thief, and a good one at that. Brie and her younger sister Jasalyn (Jas) live a poor life but they have each other and thats all they care about. One day while Brie is out, Jas is sold to the Unseelie King to pay off their debts – leaving Brie debt free, but without her sister. She must travel to the faerie realm to try and rescue her sister – even though she despises the fae and everything about them. I loved Brie and her resourcefulness. She cares about her sister first and foremost and will do anything to protect her, even if it harms Brie in the process. She’s passionate and sometimes unpredictable. Brie is morally gray, and thats something I truly love about characters. She will do what she must to protect those she loves. The pacing of this story was incredibly fast and I was eager to continue reading more. There was never a dull moment and everything felt well calculated. I went into this not knowing too much and I advise you go in the same way. There is a love triangle, there is some kissing and swooning, and rule #1 of faerie is you can’t trust anyone.
