Just popping in to say ILYSM (in that strange, mutuals on the internet sorta way) and that you have lots of fans who love your Halsin-posting. Your post notifications always brighten my day. ❤️
Idk why in the world you’ve got people investing their finite existence on this good Earth giving you grief. Some of your stuff might not be everyone’s cup of tea (pleasing everyone is an impossibility, after all), but it doesn’t even come close to the kinds of things my favourite hardcore/“problematic” (<= self-described, including the quotations, lmao!) Halsin/bg3 writers and artists post. And I don’t see anyone clutching their pearls in their comment sections.
Like, when I click on the profile of one of my favourite writers (which includes you! 🥰 But not this example, I love all your stuff!) and see that they’ve posted a story with a description like: “hardcore kinky stuff that you’re not into, Dead Dove: Do Not Eat”, I simply keep scrolling and maybe pick one of the hundreds to thousands of other bg3 stories I could choose from. But maybe that’s just me. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
(Ao3 has tag filtering, you guys, it’s amazing. Remember the fucking Dark Ages when Ao3 didn’t have that at all? How tf did we ever live like that? That’s the kind of shit you say Thanks for at family Thanksgiving. And don’t tell you guys haven’t figured out at least one of the dozens of ways to filter stuff out on godsdamn Tumblr of all places; we’ve been tweaking the etiquette of that for years!)
How utterly irrational it is for these people to look at such an openly Queer and Kinky video game — the likes of which I’ve never seen in the mainstream before (He-llo strategically advantageous BDSM scene! 🤤) — and decide that they’re going to go around policing how people iterate upon those pre-established themes. How did this fandom attract puritans of all people? [Insert “The Myth of ‘Consensual’ Sex” meme here.]
Any-hoosies, all this to say that your haters are a weird, vocal minority that are letting you live rent free in their heads, instead of doing something meaningful or joyful with their pathetic, puritanical existences. There are way more people who love the kind of meta and fics that you post.

Yeah, pleasing everyone is impossible, and it's weird that of all things, my extremely mild CNC kink fic has become the antis' boogeyman. Fam there is literal necrophilia kink in this fandom! (Not saying they deserve to be harassed either, of course, no one should be!) But the fic that has become the pinnacle of what's problematic in this fandom is a survivor writing about a fictional survivor using kink to reclaim their sexuality? Like. OK Jan
See, but that's the difference, you're a grown adult who takes responsibility for curating your experience, whereas others.... either don't, or they don't read it but act like the fic EXISTING is a problem. I guess some people are in for a rude awakening when they discover who the Marquis de Sade is......
God, remember BEFORE AO3? Remember FFN when half the time, the PAIRING wasn't even properly tagged bc you could only tag two characters at all, so people would by default just tag the most popular characters to appear in the story? And instead of tags, you had genres, so you had to decide if you wanted romance/hurt/comfort or friendship/tragedy or what? (I'm a certified Fandom Old- on my old account I was in the first 10,000 users on AO3).
Yeah, people really are missing the point of this game- and it's no coincidence most of these folks are younger. (And a lot are exclus too; I've seen them get angry at the BG3 characters being canonically pan, saying that "pansexuality is a made-up Tumblr sexuality). So... totally blind to the interwoven history of queerness and kink. Not surprising.

Fountain Baby by Amaarae.
i was literally abt to post abt this album today bc its all i've been listenin to. every single song is so good in it's own ways. im also obsessed w Amaarae's voice like ughh!!! it's been on rotation nonstop, i love everything about it. i love her approach to music, its unique but relatable? absolutely obsessed i cant even say anything more.
2. Jaguar II by Victoria Monet
i mean obviously OMM eats but it's such a good album. easy to listen to, so well made, good ole RnB to the fullest. and so BLACK. she's an incredibly lyricist and vocalist, and i feel like she's a storyteller in her music. you can feel her journey in each song. my recent fave is Alright, bc it was produced by Kaytranda and i love everything he makes. it's gold. i wish Victoria all the success in the world!!
3. Renassiance by Beyonce
im only putting it 3rd bc it came out last year. i saw the tour twice this year and it was absolutely everything. the album means so much to me as a black queer femme person but also i've loved beyonce's music since i was 5 yrs old so, it's just nice to have another amazing album from an artist that has grown w me. it still eats every time. America Has A Problem was my most listened to song last year and it was in the high hundreds lmao.
4. Birds, Bees, The Clouds and The Trees by Harrison
its jazz, melodic and gives me so much nostalgia. there's a lot of soul, but it also feels light, sorta like the name of the album suggests. my fave song so far is Outta This World ft TOBi. it's different than the other music on this list but i fr be listenin to almost every genre! jazz music or anything inspired by it will always speak to me.
5. The Barbie Movie soundtrack
i mean what can i say....i like the variety of music on the album and i think theres a lil something for everyone! i was genuinely addicted to the nicki n ice spice song. i think it's also interesting that the composer for the movie decided to enlist in all the top artist to make music for the movie playing into themes around pop culture and mass production....or its just fun pop music, who knows! it's great either way, i wouldnt say its my fave favee but i've been going back to it recently.
and the flopp...now yall who have been here KNOW that i am a tinashe stan downnn and 333 is still one of my fave albums off all time but im not feelin the most recent one :// idk why i just havent been able to rlly get into it. i might get baked n do a listenin party n see if that helps, but something abt this album doesnt feel as curated as the last? idk. but i still love her n applaud her artistry and doing it by herself in an industry tht didnt support her for years

January took forever and February took days. February also saw robins and single-jacket weather and geese migrations, and now it is also seeing December-grade snowfall? The 21st century is weird.
Anyway, I feel like this was another good reading month, even though I had some decidedly all right books in my list and a few moments of "I have hundreds of unread books, why is there nothing to read?!" I managed to offload five (5!) reading copies and only take two in, though I already know I've got two more coming towards me soon because I just can't say no, apparently.
As for book hauls and the TBR shelf situation: I only bought one book, the latest installment of the Rivers of London comics, which I hadn't realized was out so obviously I had to get it. And then read it a couple days later. Also read off my shelves were Dreadnought by Cherie Priest (which had only been on my shelf for 13 years), The Compleat Discworld Atlas, and Jackalope Wives and Other Stories by T. Kingfisher, which isn't pictured because I have the ebook and I couldn't get a good pic of my phone. (People who do this, please send tips!)
And following on from my Digger update from last month: the books are one step closing to shipping internationally! Hooray!
Oh, and a friend with a book box subscription passed a map from the Daevabad Trilogy on to me, so I have yet another decoration for my shelves. Still finding the optimal place for it, and feeling blessed to have such friends.
No idea what March is going to bring, except I feel like there'll be more dithering about reading material.

How Park Jimin of BTS Helped Me Feel Seen in My Brown, Queer Body

Jimin’s “Filter” performance, which I interpreted as a representation of gender fluidity and experimentation, assured me it was okay not to know which box I fit into, to constantly question, and to try new things. I felt affirmed in lacking the perfect word to pinpoint my gender identity. My struggles with my body, impacted by my strict upbringing, had made me feel isolated in sharing my ideal presentation with others. But Jimin had proudly displayed his moves on a global stage that was live streamed by more than 10 million people. In his rejection of gender norms, in wearing whatever he wanted, he’d reminded me that my body was more than the object of ridicule.
It’s easy to say that gender doesn’t really matter, but the K-pop industry is heavily gendered. There have only been a handful of mixed gender bands among hundreds of boy and girl groups, and being openly queer is often completely out of the question for most K-pop stars — even heterosexual artists aren’t allowed to date publicly. Despite everything, Jimin started coming out of his shell, openly wearing outfits originally designed for women, shirts with the words “gender equality” and “radical feminist,” laughing at his bandmates for claiming selfies aren’t for men, and letting his dance moves flow freely.
Jimin reminded me of myself — I was born 75 days before him, 2500 miles away. Yet both of us had tried hard to please society and performed gender in a way we weren’t meant to put on. It both took us time to realize that society’s gender norms weren’t the law, there was no “male” or “female” when it came to fashion and behavior. We would still be loved, even if we took the risk of expressing ourselves in a real way.

Welcome to the LAUVRE!
Greetings! I'm so happy to find you on this side of the internet. This is the LAUVRE and welcome to my Haus. Before anything else, I would like to share first the inspirations that birthed my Haus. LAUVRE is a term coined from three words: LOUVRE, the famous museum in France popular for displaying hundreds of artworks and spanning throughout history including Leonardo Da Vinci's THE Mona Lisa, LAURENCE, my name, and LOVE, which is how it is pronounced.
Aside from being one of our academic requirements, this account is also dedicated to be a museum that will house my life experiences, personal point of view and a portal to share the things that I love and I am passionate about for the world to see.
Now, for my first exhibit, I'd like to formally introduce you to the *artist* behind this account- ME! Hi, I'm Laurence (he/him), the eldest of three siblings and I recently just turned 18 years old. Yes, another virgo just jumped into legality ready to conquer the world. Recently, I also found out that my MBTI personally changed from INFP-T to INTP-T, which I don't know if it's a good thing or no. Anyways, I grew up in a very energetic environment wherein families from both my parents are well represented, which equally influences my culture growing up.

Ever since I was a kid, I have been mainly surrounded by strong female personalities and relatives, which honed my feminine side more than the masculine side. I have always known it in myself that I am bursting with colors from deep within. I am slowly navigating my queer life through surrounding myself with mediums of art, predominantly with pop culture, music and movies. Speaking of which, my friends also know me as the biggest Lady Gaga stan in any circle. How can you get any gayer than that? I am also a long-time campus journalist and it has become my passion to be truthteller and a medium to amplify people's voices through journalism. I'd like to think of myself as a frustrated artist and a visionary trying to express myself in all ways possible.

I have spent my formative years in the hustle and bustle of the metro in Taguig City. There, I built the foundations of who I am now. I was born and raised in a highly-urbanized and competitive environment where everyone is competing to be on top, but I can tell that I have enjoyed every bit of it. That's why I found it hard when we permanently moved to Borongan in Eastern Samar where I currently reside. It is complete opposite of what I've been used to for the first 14 years of my life. It's like my world took a 180° turn. It felt had to leave everything behind and start all over again.

Soon enough, I have learned to love my new home without the need to forget where I came from. Borongan game the balance I didn't know I needed. It was in Borongan that I saw the serenity and simiplicity of life in the province. That big move gave me a chance to look for ways to improve myself in more ways possible. More opportunities came my way especially in academics. Ihave bren to national competitions and other multiple recognitions inside and outside the academe. I also met new people that aided me in adjusting and building a new homr for me. Maybe, Taguig was becoming too small for my ever-growing being, and I am meant to cross the sea to really expand my world.
Now, I am currently taking up Bachelor of Arts in Communication as a freshman in Eastern Samar State University and taking every step I take as a learning opportunity and an invitation for the betterment of myself, including this blog.
This is just the beginning of everything. I hope to share more moments with you and grow together as I take you with me on my journey. That is all for now. See you next time!

last book i’ve read: currently reading (aside from the massive eternal stack of ww2 ref books) the half life of valery k by natasha pulley and grimscribe by thomas ligotti. most recently before that i read borne by jeff vandermeer, the kingdoms by natasha pulley, blood meridian, the d&d 5e player's handbook, and some postapoc scifi thing that was so forgettable i genuinely cannot conjure up the name of it or its author!!
top 3 fictional universes i’d like to live in: idk, they all seem uniquely bad in ways that do not necessarily improve upon the unique ways in which our current universe is bad. but to be sporting i'll say star trek of course, anything jared harris is in bc i want to fuck him more than im afraid of space terrorists or freezing to death or nuclear radiation, and the fictional universe i've been manifesting in my imagination for years where we never invented agriculture and i died at birth for simplistic umbilical cord-related reasons

The 300+ Million View Rise of Vita Kari’s “I Printed It Out”
The other day I posted a video inspired by Vita Kari’s 300+ million view “I printed it out” series which prompted a response from Vita Kari themselves.
A content creator by the name of Vita Kari has been going viral on TikTok through a series of videos commonly referred to as the “I printed it out” series. These uploads subvert viewer expectations by revealing something in the video is not as it appears to be. The first video they posted in this style was uploaded on January 4th and it was followed up with another video on March 22, however, the series wasn’t posted with much consistency till July 13. Since then, 18 videos have been posted like this, many of them gaining tens of millions of views. As of writing this, the most viewed video of the bunch has 53.7 million views and the whole series of 22 videos in this style have 300.9 million views.

For most people, this is the first their hearing about Vita Kari, however, they’ve been doing notable things in the LA art scene for a while now. These include Vitawood, a place, platform, and installation built to support queer artists which was open from 2020-2022 and continues on today as a pop-up event series; their Vitality as Form series in which they make photos ‘unworthy of going viral’ go viral while criticizing social media, online authenticity, and societal norms; their ongoing hamburger series which covers their grandmother’s trip from the Middle East to the US; and much more. Much of the content mentioned here was able to get hundreds of thousands, and even occasionally millions, of views.  Back on the “I printed it out” series, not every part of this virality has been glamorous. Most of the videos follow a similar format in which the dialogue goes something like “the craziest thing about being creative… is this isn't my _____, I printed it out,” which has attracted a lot of negative attention (I should mention that the majority is still positive). Considering how easy these ideas are to do, many people have been angered by Vita Kari calling themselves creative. However like most art, it doesn’t matter whether you can do it, it matters whether or not you did do it. Doing something that anybody can do, but nobody has come up with yet, is possibly the highest form of creativity. Despite this, many people have indulged in parodies mocking the series, some of which are more loving than others.

Unaware of this, I actually posted a video inspired by the series, but I wouldn’t classify it as a parody. The idea behind it was, that if I did the exact same thing, including calling myself creative, I would not be being creative. I tried my best to make it clear in the video even saying that I had “I literally screenshotted it from the other video [referring to Vita Kari’s video],” however upon retrospect maybe calling myself creative to copy someone and not being creative but being self-aware, and in turn being creative, was too complex of a video idea. Considering it’s not nearly my normal content style, it did fine, being posted roughly 5 days ago and gaining 1.5k views on TikTok, 2.3k on YouTube Shorts, 1.6k on Instagram Reels, 144 on Snapchat Spotlight, and 1.8k on Clapper. Regardless of its mediocre views though, Vita Kari saw the video on TikTok and responded with a comment saying “omg I 100% fell for it.” I’m not exactly sure whether this comment was sarcastic or genuine, but they responded to it anyway, which was a cool moment for me considering the video was inspired by them.

Gay Erotic Line Art

The history of gay erotic lines art is long and complicated. From the ancient world to the 1970s in America the depiction of gay male sexuality has been widely contestable. It's a delicate balance between self-identification and the pressure to silence sexually explicit images of gay males in western culture. Out/Lines exhibits more than two hundred previously unpublished photographs which depict the rebirth as well as sexualization of gay images.
Two Figures in a Bed by Francis Bacon, depicts a messy bed with two naked males wrestling in it. The painting was made in the home of an ex-lover who was violent. The artist depicted gayness with passion and emotion. While gay art has been a method of expression for more than a century, it has recently been described as "Queer Art."
You can also call a gay chat line. These chat lines are not only fun and naughty, but they may help you find your soulmate. These chat lines function as traditional phone lines, however instead of asking you to leave a phone number, they request you to record a greeting message. The message should be as precise as you can. It should also include details about the person you're looking for and the kind of hunk they are looking for numeri erotici.
The Beeper love chat is a different alternative. This line is ideal for deep conversations and has led to many real-life dates. Callers can receive free minutes to test the service. Another popular gay chat line is Interactive Male, which has been in business for 25 years and has a romantic overtone.
Michelangelo the famous Italian painter who was gay, expressed his sexuality in his work. His painting Amor Victorious, also known as The Victorious Cupid, depicts Cupid, the Roman God of love. He has armor and musical instruments near his feet, as well as an elegant golden crown on his head.
Gay art is also popular in comics. A History of Gay Art was published in 1972. It documented the history of gay sexuality in graphic art from antiquity until pop culture. It provides an overview of the history of gay male art as well as comics and other forms. It's comprehensive and enjoyable to read.

took a break to bake some cookies and read a few chapters of Darcie Little Badger's new YA novel, but now it's back to the grind. for those of you playing along at home, I've made it as far back as my likes from early November 2021.
article 41: "Twitter Is The Worst Reader" by noted Fonda Lee on the twitterish tendency to assume the worst of everyone - particularly women, people of color, and other marginalized folks - at all times. of particular note is this scathing observation of twitter mobs demanding apologies from the targets of their harassment: "Never in the history of Twitter have I ever seen an apology be accepted or actually reduce the abuse leveled. One hundred percent of the time, they are dissected for inadequacy and insincerity, held up as proof of the offender’s malicious intent all along, and used as kindling to further fan the flames."

Jarboe's substack. what a buckwild analysis of... something? characters that transmasc dudes of a certain age tend to project onto? also just a fantastic series of digs at poor useless Thackery Binx.

you guys are not gonna believe this but article 46 is ANOTHER entry from Ijeoma Oluo's substack. this time it's "All Of the Outrage You Could Ever Want." it's about "cancel culture," it's about accountability, it's about hierarchies of perceived value, you know the drill.
article 47: back to BuzzFeed for another article by Scaachi Koul, "Emily Ratajkowski’s New Book Tests The Limits Of Self-Awareness." an unsurprising and very fair criticism of Ratajkowski's essay collection, which I am still very much looking forward to reading based on my great appreciation of her September 2020 essay in New York Mag about experiences with an exploitative photographer. I don't need to her to solve the conundrum of benefitting from her objectification; I'm content to pick a stranger's brain.
article 48: speaking New York Mag, we've got "You Can Still Say 'Woman' But You Shouldn't Stop There" by Irin Carmon. I've never in my life seen such an impressive collection of pissbaby justifications for refusing to use inclusive language to talk about reproductive rights. grow up lmao.
article 49: everyone stop sharing that fake Bible verse about how Jesus was transmasc and read this article by Rabbi Danya Ruttenberg queering Joseph of the infamous technicolor dreamcoat.
article 50 (can you BELIEVE I've done 50 of these? 40 of which I've read over the course of a single Saturday?): the intriguingly titled "The Politics of 'Jewface'" by Rebecca Pierce at Jewish Currents. an almost undeservedly thoughtful response to some comments that, at a guess, Sarah Silverman did not think about for more than approximately 0.003 seconds before making.

* Contrary to popular belief, Nico is more interested in a career in medicine than Will. Will has a lot of trauma from being a combat medic for years, while Nico wants to learn more about biology and medicine cause it’s come a long way since he was a kid. Will ends up becoming a guidance counsellor
* As I said, Nico’s more likely to do something in medicine, but he doesn’t. He gets a degree in art history and ends up as a museum curator
* Nico has hundreds of books on his shelves and there’s sticky notes with writing on all of them. Little notes, observations, connections, ideas of what something could mean in a deeper way, notes about how Character A was 100% queer and in a loving relationship with characters B and C
* He can’t stand country music. There are a total of two good country songs and he hates the rest of them
* Other than that he listens to pretty much any music. His favourite band is the Ramones cause it’s canon and they’re amazing
* His favourite song is actually My Heart is Buries in Venice tho, not smth by the Ramones
* He’s shockingly good with kids. He’s very entertaining for them to hang out with, he listens to them rant, he plays games with them. Nico’s just great with kids and everyone at CHB loves him
* There is a total of three (3) animals that Nico can stand. They are cats, dogs, and snakes. Anything else and he will despise it forever
* His full name is Domenico Ade Uriele di Angelo. Ade is the italian form of Hades, and Uriele is the Aquarian Angel so I kinda thought it was a good fit lol. Plus Domenico is fun to say
* He’s never told anyone, but he’s actually open to the idea of a poly relationship and has always had a tiny crush on Leo (don’t mind me throwing in a hint of soldezangelo to appease my soul)
* He lives cuddles! If he doesn’t know you well, he won’t touch you with a ten foot pole. But once he gets to know you and he is comfortable around you... he’s s o f t. He falls asleep on ppl all the time
* Percy gave him his address and phone number after the Battle of the Labyrinth (which is how Nico knew where Percy lived at the end of the book)
* I’ve got so many ideas about Percy and Nico being like siblings and you can find a post about that whole deal here
* When Nico was still living on the streets b/w BotL and tlo, he spent some time at both Percy and Rachel’s homes. He and Rachel bonded over painting
* He’s really good at photography
* He can play like 9 instruments
* He doesn’t really get or understand Halloween and Thanksgiving, but he participates

RE HOW BIGHIT MARKETS BTS

Thanks for the question dear.
Marketing is for a lot of things but in BTS's case, I'd say the primary goal of marketing them is to expose the entire group and or the individual members to an audience, a particular audience at a time, to brand them in a way that makes them appealing to that target market- to put it simply.
During one of the recent run episodes, when Jimin performed his dance from Serendipity- which I must say, God he is breathtakingly beautiful when he dances. Serendipity and the choreo is my weakness. If I see anything better than that- hold on, there's filter too. Ayayaya.

Who's coming?
Anywho, when Jimin performed Serendipity on Run and suggested that was the dance the staff was performing, the members- cough RM, quickly pointed out how he was plugging, self promoting (to Run's target audience)
Run has a different demographic.
When Suga talked about them not being funny on their Let's BTS show on KBS the Host pointed out how they were actually funny in their Run episodes.
A lot of Army(who are already fans of BTS or each individual member) watch Run but not all who watch Run are Army or even listen to BTS songs. So any performance of an individual's music or choreo would attract such a 'unique' viewer who might go on to become that member's stan or bias etc.
Similarly, when a member embarks on a solo project they are exposed to a new or unique audience. That's where most of the solo stans come from.
For V, his fanbase are not just made up of people who enjoy him as a musician but as an actor as well.
He has a strong fanbase in SK outside of 'Army' because of his exposure to the Korean market beyond BTS and this comprises of his musical collaborations with Korean Artists and film companies such as his OST Sweet Night on the series Itaewon class.
It's the same with Suga and IU, his Agust D mixtapes which draws in audiences that are not necessarily into boybands, RM's Mono whixh attracts strong hiphop fans, Jimin's dance collaborations with Taemin for example and his contemporary dance performance which attracts people in the world of contemporary dance and ballet- point in case the black swan performance at the end of the year, Jin and Hobi's MCing etc.
All these projects exposes them to unique audiences and markets outside of Army or BTS's own fanbase.
And I think the best way to understand how this is important or how this affects BigHit's marketing approach is to look at their recent YouQuiz interviews.
Jimin, Jhope and JK were paired to attract aspiring dancers or persons who want to be dancers and learn from these three dance leaders of BTS- or at least they were paired to appeal to them in my opinion.
Tae and RM were equally paired to appeal to creatives and creative minds and persons who are more into composing and writing lyrics and are full of passion and musical geniuses.
Jin and Suga were paired to appeal to mature audiences.
Ten out of ten when any pair is paired in BTS it is for marketing reasons to appeal to certain fanbase or audiences and are often strategic moves unless of course it's to balance things out to not create the impression they are promoting subunits within the group in furtherance of the BTS kumbaya agenda- Team over units or solos.
So Jikook are not gonna be allowed to sit together all the time even if they want to, neither would JinKook, or Sope.
They shake and reshuffle sometimes.
And like Tae said in his 2018 VLive, the company decides who they collaborate in or what market to promote them in.
Tae was allowed to collaborate with Adora on his Chrismas song but not Jimin- which to me is very homophobic but it goes to show the company has a say in who they work with and most importantly which market they work in.
For JK, he's been working his way within the American marke and building a strong fanbase internationally from his English covers of Justin Bieber, Troye Sivan, to his collaboration with Charlie Puth, and most recently Jason Derulo in Savage love- that's a lot of English speaking fanbase he's attracting and appealing to outside of Army.
Tae's English mixtape would achieve a similar feat and draw in a lot of English speaking fans.
Bts did the same with dynamite and coldplay's Fix you.
So by allowing JK to work with renowned Japanese Artists and film companies, collaborating and composing original sound tracks for them such as his Your eyes tell OST, Film out, etc. he is appealing to and drawing in a Japanese audience.
As Hobi explained in his 2019 January Vlive, their mixtapes, solo projects, collaborations with Artists outside of BTS are all ways for them to expand their fanbase individually and build their portfolio.
And these new fans are mostly going to be solo stans who stan him for his music composing abilities but of course some may fall in love with BTS as well and go on to become Army so it's a win win situation.
WOULDN'T THE OTHERS OBJECT
Yes and no.
As long as the company isn't pushing him as a soloist outside of BTS and creating a separate brand with him outside of BTS's own brand I don't think the boys would object to it.
That was the problem they had/have with Jikook. In my opinion.
The company branding Jikook, distinctifying them from the group as a 'couple' subunit, selling their chemistry to fans and advertisers really doesn't and didn't sit well with the group. AT ALL.
In my opinion of course.
You can't create a brand within a brand.
It goes against Bang PD's own objective of prioritizing the team over all else which is what sold the members in the first place.
I just think in JK's case, since 2020, they are just trying to help him find himself and his bearing and his purpose.
He's been trying to find himself since 2020 and he'd talked about losing his passion and had had his passion hijacked and commercialized by the company.
He used to say he didn't know what he was going to do with himself and his life and career after BTS- having him work on music videos, directing, composing, reading these are all ways that they are doing right by him if you ask me.
They are helping him not trying to push their own agendas- which is not to say they might not change their minds about it in the future.
JK is an artist being managed by the company and they owe a duty to him to make the right business decisions for him with his consent- can't stress on the consent bit enough.
Personally, I'm happy about Japan because they are and are shaping out to be queer friendly and have a bit of progressive laws and conducive environments for queer artists to flourish in- if coming out would ruin their careers that's one less worry.
Which by the way I hate anyone who peddles this 'coming out will ruin their careers' nonsense because I can tell you one hundred percent that that is rooted in homophobia and it's not OK.
Don't tell that to no queer people shut up. You are not helping.
I know some say that out of genuine concerns for the boys but PLEASE DON'T. Don't use fear to keep queer people hidden and out of sight. Don't promote closet safety. Rhetorics like that only perpetuate queer invisibility and homophobia- do I need to spell it out to your liberal homophobic ass?!
Coming out is entirely up to them regardless of the risk you think is involved. If they want to take it. They'll take it. It's their choice to make regardless of whatever consequence.
That there are or should be consequences is a problem in of itself.
I don't want to hear 'if JK comes out he's been stupid and reckless and putting Jimin's career at risk'

They both have different career objectives.

In 2014 Jimin posted this Christmas song he did with JK. In 2020 he posted his own Christmas song without Jk.
It's not hard to see where his interests in music lie as a musician.
JK covered We don't talk anymore by himself and later did a collaboration with Jimin on the same song. He's done Fools with RM- see where I'm going with this?
Suga said he was more likely to write pop songs for JK but write dance songs for Jimin.
Jk said in the Be interviews bang PD advised him to consider dance performances when writing songs as he himself is a dancer too and need to incorporate in his compositions.
They are two distinct artists and at some point it would become necessary to brand, promote and encourage their uniqueness in their professional lives. They don't got to be tethered to each other all the time.
Personally, I don't think BigHit would want to push official subunits within BTS- yet and it's inclination towards Jikook have always been because of their marketing appeal rather than to further a career objective for both of them.
This goes back to the pairing objectives I talked about earlier. If they are going to pair Jikook professionally as an official subunit within the group it wouldn't be because they are a couple and ought to be together all the time but because it is smart for them to do so business wise.
If their pairing isn't commercially profitable they won't be paired at all- unless of course Jikook themselves want and request to be paired in that way. Know what I mean?
They each signed separate contracts with the company from day dot. They didn't sign on as a unit.
Whether or not they've decided they are a package deal I cannot say- yet, as their new contract just came into effect.
We would have to observe how they are being handled by the company going forward.

Jimin and Jhope were equally sent to Japan for promotion purposes without JK.
Out of all seven, Namjoon is the most promoted member in the international Market not just because he speaks English but because he is often made the spokes person for the group in interviews, at awards straight up to the UN.
Look how happy they all were and how chatty they were at the KBS Let's BTS interview.
I mean they all talked about it. About how they can't say much on foreign forums and often step into Namjoon's shadows.
RM is the most recognized and dare I say the most liked member out of all seven in the international market outside Army and their music profession.
In Japan they all have a chance to be front and center at interviews etc.
It just so happens that JK as it stands is the one member pushing to build a portfolio within that market.
Let's pray he gets mainstream and build a strong presence within the music industry there because we all know he's gonna drag Jimin up there with him😏
Just pay attention to the songs he's written and the parts Jimin sings in them- he makes Jimin shine on those songs.
They have so much potential my God.
Let's support them individually and as a unit.

this past october marked the 35th anniversary of the release of dionne warrick’s charity single “that’s what friends are for.” the one-off collaboration with the equally iconic gladys knight, elton john and stevie wonder, “that’s what friends are for” was released as a charity single in 1985 to support aids research and prevention. originally released as a very schmaltzy love song in 1982, dionne’s cover of “friends” was released just a few weeks after the aids-related death of hollywood legend rock hudson. the song now resonated as a radical message of unconditional love during a time when people living with aids faced intense homophobia and stigma.  
“that what friends are for” topped the billboard hot 100 in janaury 1986 and went on to win best pop performance by a duo or group and song of the year at the 1987 grammy awards. it was this commercial and critical success that the song was touted as the anthem for the fight against aids. and while it’s cultural impact could not be overstated, it was not the first “anthem” of acceptance, love and resistance in the era of aids. there were many songs that soundtracked the aids epidemic before and after “that’s what friends are for.

patti labelle’s 1977 single “you are my friend” and sylvester’s brilliant cover in 1979, had long served as musical forms of solace for black and brown queer and trans folks during the onset of the epidemic – years before it was even given a name. other songs released years before the epidemic also served as anthems of survival. bette midler’s “friends,” a song that garnered her rousing applause when she performed it in bathhouses in the early 1970’s and gloria gaynor’s 1979 #1 hit “i will survive” took on a deeper meaning for gay men during height of the aids epidemic.
i must also mention phyllis hyman’s “old friend,” released in the summer of 1986, while not explicitly about aids, does capture the feeling and hope of reconnecting with long family and friends. a reality experienced by those who face rejection from loved ones after an hiv positive diagnosis.
“that’s what friends are for” isn’t even the first AIDS charity single. that distinction goes to the openly gay british band coil who released a cover of “tainted love” in early 1985 as a fundraising effort for the terrence higgins trust. coil’s version of “tainted love” was much somber than the more danceable version by soft cell, who took the song #8 on the hot 100 in the summer of 1982, was accompanied by an even more heartbreaking video that was explicitly about aids.

by 1990 several artists recorded and released songs that were explicitly (or somewhat explicitly) about aids or about the immense loss one feels when a loved one dies. these songs included cyndi lauper’s “boy blue,” prince’s “sign o’ the times”, willie colon’s“el gran varon,” boogie down productions’ “jimmy,” and “is anybody out there” by british pop group frankie goes to hollywood. one of the first songs to explicitly mention the word aids was the queen of paradise garage gwen guthrie’s “can’t love you tonight.” released in 1987, a remix of the song was even titled “the surgeon general’s funky 4/4 beat”
then there were songs that were without a doubt in response to the aids hysteria. these songs include janet jackson’s “let’s wait a while” and jermaine stewart’s “we don’t have to take our clothes off.” both songs communicated a message of delaying sex and are low-key about abstinence.
not all songs that soundtracked the aids epidemic were about loss (“jesus to a child”by george michael and “one sweet day” by mariah carey) or cautionary tales (like salt n pepa’s “let’s talk about sex” and tlc’s “waterfalls”). there were songs that served as a kind of restoration on the dance floor. and many of these songs were present during the early years of the epidemic. songs like sylvester’s 1982 club hit “do you wanna funk”and 1983’s “so many men, so little time” by miguel brown were songs that celebrate sexuality during a time when queer communities were beginning to be ravaged by aids. these songs and hundreds of other dance songs provided a safer space to meet, probably one last time, with people who just wanted to dance and enjoy the beat of life.

Leftover in China: The Women Shaping the World’s Next Superpower by Roseann Lake Forty years ago, China enacted the one-child policy, only recently relaxed. Among many other unintended consequences, it resulted in both an enormous gender imbalance--with a predicted twenty million more men than women of marriage age by 2020--and China's first generations of only-daughters. Given the resources normally reserved for boys, these girls were pushed to study, excel in college, and succeed in careers, as if they were sons. Now living in an economic powerhouse, enough of these women have decided to postpone marriage--or not marry at all--to spawn a label: "leftovers."
