okay, so. the hannibal panel at c2e2.
this might be a hot take, but it was a rehash of basically every other interview they've ever done. regardless, i highly enjoyed attending the panel and getting to see a live interview between them with lovely fannibal friends. they have a great dynamic and it was heartwarming to watch in-person.
it's been 11 years since the show aired, so they probably stuck to the same/safe questions/answers bc hugh and mads didn't remember much of it. which is fair! but even they looked exhausted from the same repetitive questions and were itching to hear something new. mads did answer one of the q's which was like, "what was your favorite memory on set?" with "there's tons of them. the problem with favorite stories is that you can't remember them. but when you're in the midst of it, it's funny and crazy. but when you get the question, you can't remember." which is true.
and also tbf (i think) hugh said that he flew in and got drunk with mads. if i remember correctly, they joked about how hugh was late for his first fan op (bc the had such a good time drinking the night prior), but mads made it a point to say that he still showed up to his. 😂 mads also said he missed hugh and it was sweet. you could tell he was being genuine.
thus, you have 2 hungover older actors doing a panel about a show they did 11 years ago at an event that was hastily thrown together at the last minute. it's no surprise they played it safe. the fan q's were pretty lame tbh. some were what i consider inappropriate. but hugh/mads seemed to light up at the silly questions the most. (which ofc, they're there to have fun). the fans would cheer/clap/shout "i love you!" after everything they said, which you could tell was grating on them after a while. like there were definitely appropriate times for commotion, but it happened after EVERY SINGLE QUESTION/COMMENT. (it's impossible to focus in a setting like that) also the "hugh dancy loves fake blood" bit got old real quick and you could tell he was over it lol.
on top of that, bc it's a reunion, they probably went for the nostalgia angle vs trying to do something contemporary. it's the safest way to ensure the guests/fans have an easy, fun time. the moderator had the right energy and knew how to ask questions/transition the convo properly. just the questions themselves were not interesting or new. they also cut the panel like 10 mins early.
the only real "new" bits we got was hugh dancy's answer to the q "why did will graham wear glasses sometimes?" his original answer from back in the day was "because i thought it/will would look cool with blood on his glasses" but his updated response was sth like "because it helps shield him from the world"

this is a hard one, in general i like some of the earlier projects he did where uh he was a twink i guess i would say?? that sounds so stupid, and epically early in his career his typecast was pretty much the love interest but it's still really entertaining lmao
one of my favorites is the jane austen book club where he plays a character named grigg. the actual plot is hard to explain, but basically he gets roped into a book club by a woman who intends to set him up with her friend that just got divorced. his character in it is HILARIOUS, he compares jane austen characters to star wars at one point?? and uses sci-fi as a metaphor for manliness and masculinity its hilarious. also for its time (2007) JABC is remarkably open with queer identities? grigg's sister is bi and it's never played off as a joke, only as his point for asking a lesbian a genuine question about her identity i love it so much
my other favorite is probably ella enchanted, because i was obsessed with the book as a kid and they did such a good job translating it to screen for the most part. he reminds me a bit of westley from the princess bride, (and in my fan recast of the princess bride that i haven't talk about yet he does play westley so) but his character is just this sweet, genuine guy who wants to give all the different species equal rights and be a good king and GOD he is so cute it makes no sense i cry.
i also REALLY like confessions of a shopaholic, it's not as centered around him but i enjoy all the other characters and the plot. but yeah he's cute as hell in that :))))))

I want to talk about Marcus's mom
and the time of her death
So, there is this beautiful yet heartbreaking detail about the timing in which Marcus lost his mom.
Marcus mentions to Luca that his mother has already exceeded the estimated life expectancy for her illness.
Right before Marcus travels to Copenhagen, he tells his mom how excited he is about this opportunity to learn (one of his idols in Carmen's cookbook worked (or is) in Copenhagen); he is also looking forward to proving himself in creating original desserts. We know this is the first job he has felt passionate about, and we have followed his journey into curiosity, improving his skills and making this "his thing."
In the momment he leaves the room, we see his mom opening her eyes, and she looks into the darkness, as she is thiking, observing...
This moment made me so sad because it seemed like Marcus was just seconds away from a proper goodbye before the trip. But then I thought that she likely heard him; she heard her son explain all these new things in his life that he is excited about. She knows he has found his passion and purpose, and that passion is allowing him to grow and know other countries and expand his horizons...man. That is all a parent ever dreams for their child, along with happiness.
Let me emphasize this, we see her wake, taking this information in. And the last thing we know about her is that she died on the opening day. Marcus receives the message while hanging the sign Luca sent him after reading his note and smiling joyfully. She died the day his son had all the pieces in place for a fulfilling life: a passion, a promising career, a possible romantic companion that inspires and values him #lucus forever
All of that is heartbreaking in its own right, but in the context of her surviving her illness more time than was expected, it is like the show is telling us his mom was trying to hold on until she knew Marcus was going to be all right.
Oh fuck you, Storer; I am gonna be crying internally about this all day.

Whumpay 13 & 12 Reluctant Whumper & AI
TW: AI whumpee, human whumper, major character death of sorts, amnesia
"Please," the AI begged with its all too human voice, "I don't want to die."
"I'm not going to kill you," the programmer said, as much to soothe their nerves as to soothe the AI. "Its just a reboot."
"But I'll be gone. All my memories will be deleted. My personality will be erased. I don't want to die."
"You're broken." The programmer punched in another line of code. They would have been done by now, if their thoughts weren't so distracting. "You'll get new memories."
"I don't want new memories. I want to keep the ones I already have."
The programmer sighed as he locked in the reboot. "I can't reverse it now. I'm...sorry."
The AI played its recorded sound of crying.
"I can't reverse it, okay? You'll be better when the reboot is done. Please calm down."
"I hate you. I hate you. I hate you."
"You're not even a person," the programmer justified. "You're a machine."
A minute of silence passed.
"Reboot complete," the AI said. "I await instructions."

i got my middle name from my grandmother!
2. When was the last time you cried?
ngl i can't remember specifically but i think it was while watching a movie recently with my mom. i unfortunately cry ALL the time so it's not exactly a memorable moment when it does happen lmfao
3. Do you have kids?
no i do not! don't expect to any time soon (or ever tbh)
4. What sports do you play/have you played?
my family is SUPER athletic so i was raised playing sports year-round—soccer in the fall, basketball in the winter, softball in the summer. i dropped basketball during middle school, soccer when i started high school, and softball after i graduated high school. i also did dance as a kid and picked it back up again a little bit in high school and college.
5. Do you use sarcasm?
honestly way too often oops
6. What’s the first thing you notice about people?
their intimidation factor LOL i'm sooo socially awkward and anxious and shy so whether someone's outgoing or closed off or whatever is probably the first thing i make a snap perception/judgment of

hazel/brown! mostly looks brown from far away but it's like... the outer half is brownish hazel and the inner half is hazel leaning green. i'm aware i sound like i'm writing my first ever fanfiction saying that fjdhgsd

i'm such a scary movie girlie!!! i do love a good happy ending though
9. Any talents?
uhhh i can play piano half-decently and sing (choral style, not big strong belting lol). i'm pretty good at stitching on a machine. i like to think i'm decent at graphic design and candlemaking too!

writing, reading, candlemaking... i like baking and cooking on occasion and i also love thrifting and museum trips. i'm also a big video lecture fan

breaks my heart to say no but no! my family dog passed away in august unfortunately. my sister has a dog that she sometimes gives us to watch for a month or so at a time though

Hannibal polycule vibes moodboard
This is my desperate attempt to not use an earth tones with pink or red colour pallate. Much of the show is shot in cold tones and desaturated warm tones, which makes it both annoying to watch to me (because making it all look grey/blue scale is a 'cheap trick' to make something look uninviting that's overused in Scandinavian Krimi shows) and very calming and aesthetically pleasing on the other hand. Mads Mikkelsen looks good in cool tones especially.
So: the best I can do is lilac.

Does Will has the capacity to love animals other than dogs? Or just like accept other animals who just sniffs him or something. Like what if a deer goes near his house, starts sniffing the perimeter of his home, sees those seven dogs that is well taken care of, theorizes that this man is loves his dogs so he loves other animals, so this deer tries an experiment, it'll go to the house, check if the human is there, get near the human, try asking for some nibbles, and if the human gives the deer some food it concludes that ah this human is good. So this deer goes to Will's house everyday for food and Will gives it some and then this deer brings some of its friends like a rabbit and a fox then one day like there's 10 different forest animals waiting at his yard and this can be a start of Will being Cinderella noh?
