20 years a blogger
Tumblr media
It's been twenty years, to the day, since I published my first blog-post.
I'm a blogger.
Blogging - publicly breaking down the things that seem significant, then synthesizing them in longer pieces - is the defining activity of my days.
https://boingboing.net/2001/01/13/hey-mark-made-me-a.html
Over the years, I've been lauded, threatened, sued (more than once). I've met many people who read my work and have made connections with many more whose work  I wrote about. Combing through my old posts every morning is a journey through my intellectual development.
It's been almost exactly a year I left Boing Boing, after 19 years. It wasn't planned, and it wasn't fun, but it was definitely time. I still own a chunk of the business and wish them well. But after 19 years, it was time for a change.
A few weeks after I quit Boing Boing, I started a solo project. It's called Pluralistic: it's a blog that is published simultaneously on Twitter, Mastodon, Tumblr, a newsletter and the web. It's got no tracking or ads. Here's the very first edition:
https://pluralistic.net/2020/02/19/pluralist-19-feb-2020/
I don't often do "process posts" but this merits it. Here's how I built Pluralistic and here's how it works today, after nearly a year.
I get up at 5AM and make coffee. Then I sit down on the sofa and open a huge tab-group, and scroll through my RSS feeds using Newsblur.
I spend the next 1-2 hours winnowing through all the stuff that seems important. I have a chronic pain problem and I really shouldn't sit on the sofa for more than 10 minutes, so I use a timer and get up every 10 minutes and do one minute of physio.
After a couple hours, I'm left with 3-4 tabs that I want to write articles about that day. When I started writing Pluralistic, I had a text file on my desktop with some blank HTML I'd tinkered with to generate a layout; now I have an XML file (more on that later).
First I go through these tabs and think up metadata tags I want to use for each; I type these into the template using my text-editor (gedit), like this:
   <xtags>
process, blogging, pluralistic, recursion, navel-gazing
   </xtags>
Each post has its own little template. It needs an anchor tag (for this post, that's "hfbd"), a title ("20 years a blogger") and a slug ("Reflections on a lifetime of reflecting"). I fill these in for each post.
Then I come up with a graphic for each post: I've got a giant folder of public domain clip-art, and I'm good at using all the search tools for open-licensed art: the Library of Congress, Wikimedia, Creative Commons, Flickr Commons, and, ofc, Google Image Search.
I am neither an artist nor a shooper, but I've been editing clip art since I created pixel-art versions of the Frankie Goes to Hollywood glyphs using Bannermaker for the Apple //c in 1985 and printed them out on enough fan-fold paper to form a border around my bedroom.
Tumblr media
As I create the graphics, I pre-compose Creative Commons attribution strings to go in the post; there's two versions, one for the blog/newsletter and one for Mastodon/Twitter/Tumblr. I compose these manually.
Here's a recent one:
Blog/Newsletter:
(<i>Image: <a href="https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:QAnon_in_red_shirt_(48555421111).jpg">Marc Nozell</a>, <a href="https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/2.0/deed.en">CC BY</a>, modified</i>)
Twitter/Masto/Tumblr:

https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:QAnon_in_red_shirt_(48555421111).jpg
CC BY
https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/2.0/deed.en
This is purely manual work, but I've been composing these CC attribution strings since CC launched in 2003, and they're just muscle-memory now. Reflex.
These attribution strings, as well as anything else I'll need to go from Twitter to the web (for example, the names of people whose Twitter handles I use in posts, or images I drop in, go into the text file). Here's how the post looks at this point in the composition.
<hr>
<a name="hfbd"></a>
<img src="https://craphound.com/images/20yrs.jpg">
<h1>20 years a blogger</h1><xtagline>Reflections on a lifetime of reflecting.</xtagline>
<img src="https://craphound.com/images/frnklogo.jpg">
See that <img> tag in there for frnklogo.jpg? I snuck that in while I was composing this in Twitter. When I locate an image on the web I want to use in a post, I save it to a dir on my desktop that syncs every 60 seconds to the /images/ dir on my webserver.
As I save it, I copy the filename to my clipboard, flip over to gedit, and type in the <img> tag, pasting the filename. I've typed <img src="https://craphound.com/images/ CTRL-V"> tens of thousands of times - muscle memory.
Once the thread is complete, I copy each tweet back into gedit, tabbing back and forth, replacing Twitter handles and hashtags with non-Twitter versions, changing the ALL CAPS EMPHASIS to the extra-character-consuming *asterisk-bracketed emphasis*.
My composition is greatly aided both 20 years' worth of mnemonic slurry of semi-remembered posts and the ability to search memex.craphound.com (the site where I've mirrored all my Boing Boing posts) easily.
A huge, searchable database of decades of thoughts really simplifies the process of synthesis.
Next I port the posts to other media. I copy the headline and paste it into a new Tumblr compose tab, then import the image and tag the post "pluralistic."
Then I paste the text of the post into Tumblr and manually select, cut, and re-paste every URL in the post (because Tumblr's automatic URL-to-clickable-link tool's been broken for 10+ months).
Next I past the whole post into a Mastodon compose field. Working by trial and error, I cut it down to <500 characters, breaking at a para-break and putting the rest on my clipboard. I post, reply, and add the next item in the thread until it's all done.
*Then* I hit publish on my Twitter thread. Composing in Twitter is the most unforgiving medium I've ever worked in. You have to keep each stanza below 280 chars. You can't save a thread as a draft, so as you edit it, you have to pray your browser doesn't crash.
And once you hit publish, you can't edit it. Forever. So you want to publish Twitter threads LAST, because the process of mirroring them to Tumblr and Mastodon reveals typos and mistakes (but there's no way to save the thread while you work!).
Now I create a draft Wordpress post on pluralistic.net, and create a custom slug for the page (today's is "two-decades"). Saving the draft generates the URL for the page, which I add to the XML file.
Once all the day's posts are done, I make sure to credit all my sources in another part of that master XML file, and then I flip to the command line and run a bunch of python scripts that do MAGIC: formatting the master file as a newsletter, a blog post, and a master thread.
Those python scripts saved my ASS. For the first two months of Pluralistic, i did all the reformatting by hand. It was a lot of search-replace (I used a checklist) and I ALWAYS screwed it up and had to debug, sometimes taking hours.
Then, out of the blue, a reader - Loren Kohnfelder - wrote to me to point out bugs in the site's RSS. He offered to help with text automation and we embarked on a month of intensive back-and-forth as he wrote a custom suite for me.
Those programs take my XML file and spit out all the files I need to publish my site, newsletter and master thread (which I pin to my profile). They've saved me more time than I can say. I probably couldn't kept this up without Loren's generous help (thank you, Loren!).
I open up the output from the scripts in gedit. I paste the blog post into the Wordpress draft and copy-paste the metadata tags into WP's "tags" field. I preview the post, tweak as necessary, and publish.
(And now I write this, I realize I forgot to mention that while I'm doing the graphics, I also create a square header image that makes a grid-collage out of the day's post images, using the Gimp's "alignment" tool)
(because I'm composing this in Twitter, it would be a LOT of work to insert that information further up in the post, where it would make sense to have it - see what I mean about an unforgiving medium?)
(While I'm on the subject: putting the "add tweet to thread" and "publish the whole thread" buttons next to each other is a cruel joke that has caused me to repeatedly publish before I was done, and deleting a thread after you publish it is a nightmare)
Now I paste the newsletter file into a new mail message, address it to my Mailman server, and create a custom subject for the day, send it, open the Mailman admin interface in a browser, and approve the message.
Now it's time to create that anthology post you can see pinned to my Mastodon and Twitter accounts. Loren's script uses a template to produce all the tweets for the day, but it's not easy to get that pre-written thread into Twitter and Mastodon.
Part of the problem is that each day's Twitter master thread has a tweet with a link to the day's Mastodon master thread ("Are you trying to wean yourself off Big Tech? Follow these threads on the #fediverse at @[email protected]. Here's today's edition: LINK").
So the first order of business is to create the Mastodon thread, pin it, copy the link to it, and paste it into the template for the Twitter thread, then create and pin the Twitter thread.
Now it's time to get ready for tomorrow. I open up the master XML template file and overwrite my daily working file with its contents. I edit the file's header with tomorrow's date, trim away any "Upcoming appearances" that have gone by, etc.
Then I compose tomorrow's retrospective links. I open tabs for this day a year ago, 5 years ago, 10 years ago, 15 years ago, and (now) 20 years ago:
http://memex.craphound.com/2020/01/14
http://memex.craphound.com/2016/01/14
http://memex.craphound.com/2011/01/14
http://memex.craphound.com/2006/01/14
http://memex.craphound.com/2001/01/14
I go through each day, and open anything I want to republish in its own tab, then open the OP link in the next tab (finding it in the @internetarchive if necessary). Then I copy my original headline and the link to the article into tomorrow's XML file, like so:
#10yrsago Disney World’s awful Tiki Room catches fire <a href="https://thedisneyblog.com/2011/01/12/fire-reported-at-magic-kingdom-tiki-room/">https://thedisneyblog.com/2011/01/12/fire-reported-at-magic-kingdom-tiki-room/</a>
And NOW my day is done.
So, why do I do all this?
First and foremost, I do it for ME. The memex I've created by thinking about and then describing every interesting thing I've encountered is hugely important for how I understand the world. It's the raw material of every novel, article, story and speech I write.
And I do it for the causes I believe in. There's stuff in this world I want to change for the better. Explaining what I think is wrong, and how it can be improved, is the best way I know for nudging it in a direction I want to see it move.
The more people I reach, the more it moves.
When I left Boing Boing, I lost access to a freestanding way of communicating. Though I had popular Twitter and Tumblr accounts, they are at the mercy of giant companies with itchy banhammers and arbitrary moderation policies.
I'd long been a fan of the POSSE - Post Own Site, Share Everywhere - ethic, the idea that your work lives on platforms you control, but that it travels to meet your readers wherever they are.
Pluralistic posts start out as Twitter threads because that's the most constrained medium I work in, but their permalinks (each with multiple hidden messages in their slugs) are anchored to a server I control.
When my threads get popular, I make a point of appending the pluralistic.net permalink to them.
When I started blogging, 20 years ago, blogger.com had few amenities. None of the familiar utilities of today's media came with the package.
Back then, I'd manually create my headlines with <h2> tags. I'd manually create discussion links for each post on Quicktopic. I'd manually paste each post into a Yahoo Groups email. All the guff I do today to publish Pluralistic is, in some way, nothing new.
20 years in, blogging is still a curious mix of both technical, literary and graphic bodgery, with each day's work demanding the kind of technical minutuae we were told would disappear with WYSIWYG desktop publishing.
I grew up in the back-rooms of print shops where my dad and his friends published radical newspapers, laying out editions with a razor-blade and rubber cement on a light table. Today, I spend hours slicing up ASCII with a cursor.
I go through my old posts every day. I know that much - most? - of them are not for the ages. But some of them are good. Some, I think, are great. They define who I am. They're my outboard brain.

I was tagged by @cai-danu
Rules: once you’ve answered everything, tag 10 bloggers you want to learn more about
Name/Alias: Stray
Hair colour: orange-y golden(faded from red dye) on top, dark brown almost black(natural color) underneith.
Zodiac sign: Scorpio
Height: 5′5″
Hobbies: reading, writing, drawing, video games, horror, crochetting....that’s the bulk
Favourite colour: purple....and black. I can’t wear mostly purple without looking like a grape and I refuse.
Favourite books: “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” is my favorite overall. But as a lover of the horror genre, I’d also have to say “Salem’s Lot” by Stephen King, it was one of the first real horror books I ever read so it has a special place in my little heart.(manga would be a tie between YuGiOh and Fullmetal Alchemist but any of you following me probably figured that out by now)
Last song I listened to: I have a stream from Twitch going in another tab right now and the streamer(Cryaotic) has music playing right now. So at the moment it is “Ozimov” by Midday(or “Midday” by Ozimov, I’m not really sure, but that).
Last film I watched: Maleficent(it was on TV)
Things I love: books, drawing, Kingdom Hearts, Spyro, my fandoms in general really, plushies, figures, music, the horror genre, BLANKETS.....cats aren’t things but definitely cats too.
What brings me peace: Being alone for long stretches of time. I’m heavily introverted and being around people for long wears me out. Working at a switchboard is tricky, I talk all day at work and then barely want to say much of anything once I come home. Music too, it’s always helped me out in tight places, even more than reading has. I’d be in a really rough and bad place without it.
The meaning behind my URL: I always joked with friends in high school that I felt like the stray cat they just picked up and kept around sometimes. Like I was  wandering around from home to home looking for the one right for me. I still feel that way at times, so I’m a Girl Gone Stray. I’m actually so used to and comfortable with it now that “Stray” is in my name for a lot of things.
I tag: @grenshusband, @cataberry, @purplemagechan, and @zaltanasworld, it’s not 10 people but you guys are the ones I see reblogging from me the most so if you wanna do this, here’s your excuse! Anyone else who wants to do this, feel free to blame me for it.

[20190827] TFG 「My dear Summer」Release Event Photo Session fan report
(Yeah, I know it’s been over two weeks since the event. LOL I’m not much of a timely blogger but if you want the blow-by-blow as it happens, my Twitter is the best bet. I tend to word vomit especially when I’m going through an anxiety episode... as you would see later on. I’m mostly doing this for memory keeping, for myself lmao. And for information too, if you’re interested, especially if you’re a fan living outside of Japan. Please keep in mind that my listening skills are stronger than my speaking skills. However, when put on the spot, under pressure, that goes all away ahaha. I can’t read Japanese apart from name kanji.)
I guess I should begin when I first heard about this event. It was around May 2019 when the TFG twitter announced that they are holding a two-shot cheki chance event to celebrate the release of their first single My dear Summer. At that time, I simply wanted to get my hands on the CD lol. We had dreams of going to Anisamano plans of going to Japan any time soon (since I only just came back from my Tokyo no Jin trip earlier that month).
I had my brother help me out with buying the CDs (Google Translate can only do so much) when he actually encouraged me to try for the cheki. He said it’s a lottery system, as usual, and it won’t hurt to try since I’m buying stuff anyway. So I did. I bought both the First Press Limited Edition sets A and B using my boy Haruto Sakuraba’s link and didn’t really think much of it. They said they were going to announce winners on July 24. The event was the following month, August 27.
The ball started rolling after that. July was the 2.5D Actor Appreciation Month. #25DAAM on twitter.I featured Haruto and Mayu Yoshioka on mine. Then we somehow secured tickets to Anisama 2019. A small part of me was hoping... what if I hit for that cheki chance with Haruto. Anisama was happening the weekend of the cheki event after all. My brother was willing to either go to Japan early or stay late. Our schedule all depended on the cheki event results.
The day before results were to be released, I was a mess. It’s been a long time since I got a panic episode but something was in the water that day. Add to that, the results. The time difference threw me off and I was obsessively checking my email. My brother told me to give it a full 24 hours to account for the time difference. So what did I do? I distracted myself with Kenji Arita lmao. My brother and I had been fairly lucky with chuusen whether it be for tickets or fan events. The last time I attempted a lottery was for the Nelke Planning panel with Shiratorizawa at JF19. I didn’t hit for that because they only recognized actual JP addresses and my proxy wasn’t allowed. (But it was all good because the standby crowd got so large they allowed us to watch behind the ticket winners anyway haha.) I was praying that that won’t be the case here too.
When I woke up the next morning for work, I checked my email... and it was there.  I had my brother actually open the email and translate for me. We were looking for a "できません" but instead, it was a long email full of instructions and congratulations. I actually got picked! I read and re-read the email many times just to convince myself that I actually won. The email said that exact time and place of the event was to be announced only to winners in a separate email nearer the date. Cool cool. I felt so special LMAO.
I actually got the specifics about a week after the first email. The directions were weirdly specific... and helpful for someone like me who doesn’t know what to do with North-South-East-West directions; I work better with “Turn right when you see a Mini Stop across the street from a pachinko parlor” types AHAHAHA. Time frame was 5pm to 8-ish, then they specified that Haruto would have less than an hour to get through all the chekis with fans. They also said something about which forms of identification were required, which gifts/letters are accepted, even how the poses were chosen.
But even with all that... I had no idea what to do. I tried lowkey Googling and stalking butai/idol social media for fan reports and... I couldn’t find anything that answers my questions (and quelled my anxiety over the matter haha). So I hope if you find yourself in the same situation later, AND IF YOU’RE AN OVERSEAS FAN, I hope this long ass post is going to be helpful to you. I’ve been to one other cheki event - with Hiroki Ino in Cosplay Mania 2018 in Manila - but that’s more straightforward than this one.
(My slogan should be “Will travel for cheki” ahahaha.)
Tumblr media
Now that you’ve read through all that, let’s fast forward to August 27. After a hearty lunch at DiveryCity Tokyo, I made my way to the venue using the EXACT directions they provided in the email. I got there at exactly 5PM. I get by okay by myself in Tokyo but my brother usually acts as translator for me, like a crutch. But like on my May trip, I was by my lonesome on this adventure.
I see a couple of girls in skirts (I was in a skirt too and it was a good call because it was pretty much dress code lol) waiting by the lobby. The sign said B2F so I go down and see more dressed up girls, some even in a yukata. They started lining up so I do the same. I was trying to make myself look small because I was playing everything by ear. They started calling out everyone who hit for Kento so the line thinned a little bit. I got to the registration desk and the staffer who looked so much like Maki Kawase took my paper confirmation and ID. After looking through her sheet, Nobu’s, she politely corrected me that “Sakuraba-san isn’t until...” she said a time but in my flustered and frankly, embarrassed state, it took me a while to figure it out. She even referred to another staffer behind her for the correct time. I apologized and made my way out but then she pointed to a nearby bench, gesturing for me to stay there instead of going back up.
That was when I started panic tweeting HAHAHAHA. If you don’t want to read further, then please just click on this Twitter Thread instead. Thanks! But if you want Stephen King-level of detail, keep reading. XD
Watching those little kids do scales and random dances calmed me down. Miss Staff-san (let’s just call her that) kept tabs on me, glancing at me from time to time and whenever we’d meet eyes, she’d smile. That kept me grounded. Also, talking to my mutuals who were humoring me was a huge help. I managed to laugh and distract myself. When I started seeing a new batch of girls lining up with Haruto pin badges and an excess of purple on their person, I followed. When Miss Staff-san saw me up next, she gave me a huge smile and a thumbs up. I went up to register and.. my name was easiest to find since it was the only one in the Roman alphabet. I was number 50 in a list that I think went up to 75.
Tumblr media
We were herded into an honest to goodness dance practice studio. You know, with all the mirrors and low ceilings. Picture samples of the poses were on the wall, as done by Reo and Haruto. Pose A was your generic “double peace” sign. Pose B was doing an “Asian squat” and the photo was taken from above. Pose C would have you back-to-back with the member. Then there’s the special pose. Haruto teased that he was inspired by Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure. Hello, Pose C. Haruto Sakuraba is 6′2″ and I am a hobbit. Nope. Plus I’m very basic when it comes to poses. Ask Ino hahaha.
As the room filled, it drove home that I was the only foreigner there. Normally, it wouldn’t have mattered to me but at that moment, I was under a lot of pressure, my earlier faux pas still had me embarrassed, plus my severe lack of Japanese speaking skill was getting to me. I know, it’s all in my head; obviously I overcame it but if you have anxiety, you know how stressful that can be. I tried keeping myself small, trying to blend in. All the while, I kept seeing Miss Staff-san in my periphery and that calmed me down somewhat.
Then they lined us up according to the number on the ticket. I know what 50 is in Japanese so I just kept my ears open for that. I dropped off my fan letters before I could forget (Nobu got one too, handwritten in English but with a typed up translation sheet) then we were led to another, larger dance studio area. At the opposite end of the room were room dividers. They had My dear Summer on loop but I was so in my head that I didn’t even suffer from earworm. I just kept updating Twitter. More for personal sanity than anything ahahhaa.
Haruto took his time with fans. I noticed Reo’s line went by much faster. By the time he was almost done (his started a bit later than ours), I think Haruto’s only on his 20th fan. I calmed down enough to get my bearings back and I was glad to know that I wasn’t the only one losing her mind. The other girls were talking amongst themselves about the back-to-back pose and what they want to say to him. He seemed so friendly, if the laughter and chatting we were hearing from behind the dividers were any indication, and all of us wanted to make a good impression. Giiirl, I wasn’t even sure if the boy spoke a lick of English! XD
Then. It was my turn.
The staffer asked me which pose I want to do and being the boring person that I am, I chose A pose. Another staffer took my purse but all I saw was Haruto up close in his TFG get up.
Haruto: ありがとうございます Me: OMG Hi! 海外 fan  です!  *Haruto’s eyebrows disappear into his fringe. Staff takes pic* Haruto: Ah double peace. Er so... Me: I'm from California. Los Angeles. Haruto: Ah, California. So you don't speak Japanese? Me: A little bit. Your English is good.  Haruto: Aaah, not so much. I try. So when did you get to Japan? Me: Sunday? I'm here for Anisama and to see you! Haruto: Ah thank you so much. Staff: Next! ありがとうございました  *Haruto hands me the cheki. we bow at each other* Haruto: ありがとうございました. Bye-bye! Me: ありがとうございました.
I mean, the whole thing couldn’t have been more than 30 seconds but it felt so much longer. His final  ありがとうございました has a bit of emphasis as if trying to teach me. Oh you! I knew at least that much.
Tumblr media
Then was I was leaving the booth, I heard the staffers go, "Whoa... I didn't know you can do that!" And he was all "Ay-yah... hehe." GUYS. GUYSSSS!!!! I couldn’t stop smiling... from the moment I just had to the moment he just had to... ALL OF IT! And as I left the venue, Miss Staff-san was right there waiting for me at the door. When she was my delicately holding the cheki in my hand, she patted me on the shoulder and said  “ よくやった!” I never thanked anyone that profusely in my life. (Honestly, her kindness made me tear up.)
I have no flippin’ idea how I kept it together in there. It was a total Yuri On Ice moment where Yuuri just let everything go at that moment and let it all out on the ice when it mattered. I said pretty much everything I wanted to say which wasn’t much. All I wanted to do is to let him know that he has overseas fans. And to test how good his English skills are.
And let me tell you, it was more than okay. There was absolutely no hesitation in his words. He kept eye contact and oh lawd, his SMILE up close? I don’t know how I’m still here telling you all this. Now every time I hear his voice, I hear it in English ahahaha. (I know he spoke Chinese at a radio show but I wasn’t able to catch that and they haven’t put up the archive at all. Pfft.)
What made me so happy was he ended up impressing not only me but the staff too!!! He even took control of the conversation. The staffers were like "What's going on?" smiling at him as we talked. I'm sofkng proud.
(I should mention that this is technically my 8th time seeing Haruto in person. I saw Tokyo no Jin seven times in May. I figured that would help me a bit with the stress but nope. Although, I cannot wait for everyone to see the TnJ BD and experience his take on Bokuto. You’ll understand this admiration all the more lmao.)
So there it is. If you’re still with me, thank you. I hope I didn’t come across as annoying. I was - am - just so excited that I was able to do this and I wanted to share my experience. Haruto is such a precious sweetheart. I wish him the best of everything.

It took me two nights, but I got through most of my tabs and queued up some stuff on my paganism/NSFW blog. Lesson learned. I’m going to gradually move a bunch of blogs I follow over to that blog, which will incentivize me to look at it a little more often.
In the process, I may or may not unfollow some other blogs (even if I care about the bloggers/blogs in question). My feed has gotten no better since I started complaining about how full it’s gotten. It can get to 99+ posts in a few hours, which is obscene and absurd. When I come to Tumblr, I want to get through all of the posts on my feed: I don’t follow blogs to ignore most of their posts.
I’m also considering taking a semi-hiatus from Tumblr. Though I like having friends on here (especially given how my social life is almost completely dead right now - again), I liked Tumblr more when I had no reputation, when this blog was off the beaten path, and when I felt comfortable enough to post about my ongoing spell. I attract too much attention from randos; my initial reaction to any attention on the Internet (except for some people I know) is almost always negative (yay anxiety) and I’m not in an emotional place right now (nor with the proper support structures; damn the therapist’s schedule) to handle that.
Like, seriously, I’ve considered hexing people out of anger/spite. "People” as in plural; the idiot I got in a fight with on here last is neither the first nor the last/most recent person I’ve wanted to hex. As I’ve said before, I’m strongly opposed to humans hexing. Hexing is assault. If it does work, it’s not like humans are good at magic enough to prevent dire/unintended consequences. If it doesn’t/if magic isn’t real/if humans are so bad at magic that they can’t hex, it’s still wallowing in negativity. I don’t need to toy with such ideas, so I’m going to take measures to ensure I don’t.
What I’ll probably do is pester a few people as friends, Rogue and Pally (maybe a handful of others) anonymously, and keep my comments in the tags or else write my own entries if I feel the need to comment at length. Y’know, go back to my old way of doing things that kept attention off of me.

Hey Lovely! I was wondering how you first became a part of the fandom? When did you start watching the show, at what point did you feel John and Sherlock might be(come) a thing, what made you start a blog on these two? I just want to know it all ^^ Hope you don't mind sharing a bit :) Thank you for everything you do for this fandom, love you lots!
Hi Lovely!
Oh gosh, what a nice question! I think I’ve talked about this in snippets in various posts, this post being the one talking the most about it, but never as a whole! Apologies if this turns into a long ramble, hah hah!
So I remember exactly when I got into the show SO CLEARLY. It was July of 2013, just a few months before S3 was to air in January 2014. I was over at my friends’ place, and they suggested the show to watch, since we always watch movies together whenever I visit. I remember asking, “Is that the show with Martin Freeman and that Khan actor from Star Trek 2?”. We finished Season one all in one go, and immediately fell in love with Ben and Martin’s portrayals and their chemistry. And then I had to head back home. I was ANGRY because OMG WHAT HAPPENS NEXT and my friends just laughed.
So as soon as I got home, I downloaded S1 and S2 and watched them ALL the way through. I needed more. So, because I already had a Tumblr and knew it was for fandoms, I decided to see what it had to offer.
Oh boy what did I get into???
So I lurked for a bit, and then I discovered something called “meta”, back when the TRF theories were the prominent meta in the fandom. So while I was getting deep into meta, I started switching my fanart from Ninja Turtles to Sherlock, because I was warming up to Ben’s ethereal face and I wanted to draw it. And I wanted to be a Sherlock fanartist. I briefly shipped Sher1011ie for a week or so, until I rewatched the series again and it just didn’t jive like it did the first few watch-throughs. I was too invested in John and Sherlock’s friendship – I saw them as bestest friends ever, too devoted to each other.
Now, at this point, y’all need to remember this: I was naïve, have never been exposed at length nor ever heard of subtext, was and am not part of the LGBT community (I grew up in a different time and in a conservative city, so being “gay” just wasn’t a thing), had a very heteronormative view on my life, and I just had always just insisted that in all of my fandoms, when I liked two male characters together, it was because “bestest friends ever!!”. I didn’t know I was ace and I’d never read smut up until 3 years ago (yes hi hello I’m so old and so innocent LOL).
Okay, so I was just lurking for a bit, learning my way around fandom, reading meta and just generally dipping my toes quietly into the fandom.
Then came Season 3.
As many of my followers know, a lot of my fondness for season 3 stems from this being the season that LITERALLY opened my eyes to EVERYTHING: subtext, Johnlock, my own sexuality, and my meta-writing career.
So, season 3 aired and I decided to dip my toes into “reviewing” the episodes as my first “meta”. They were posted onto my multi-fandom blog here, here and here. I was so proud of them, because it reinvigorated my love for writing (I used to be a pretty prominent Sonic fan-fic author back in the 90′s… I never finished my stories because my interest in the fandom died before I finished them), despite how laughably bad they were, haha. I got a couple compliments on them, but nothing beyond that, especially since I sat down and wrote them for HOURS after each episode aired.
Sometime between TSo3 and HLV, I discovered loudest-subtext-in-television (aka LSiT) and deducingbbcsherlock completely by accident and I was FASCINATED. I ate up everything they wrote. The first time I watched TSo3, something was niggling at my brain but I couldn’t quite place it. It was one of LSiT’s meta that twigged at it. That’s when I learned about subtext, heteronormativity and the queer community. And suddenly, just like that, something in my brain clicked.
Oh. My god. This show is gay, and I actually SHIP these idiots like I did in the Mother Ship (ie. The X-Files Mulder / Scully). That’s why I was SO ANNOYED with Irene. Why Molly was slowly grating on me. Why Mary’s introduction kind of annoyed me but okay I guess I can deal with it. Why everything seemed really romantic but it just couldn’t be, could it?
I rewatched the series. And it was gay. Y’all, those rainbow-coloured glasses were suddenly GLUED to my head, and I saw gay EVERYWHERE.
So, after HLV, I discovered The Johnlock Conspiracy and I was eating up all the meta about Johnlock I could. Around this time, I also was learning a lot about the LGBT community, its history and sexual fluidity from wsswatson. It was also around this time I discovered asexuality, and I started reading a lot about it.
In February of 2014, I started this blog because I wanted a place to reblog Johnlock meta. This was the first post I made on this blog, and looking back at it now, I am DYING because wow I never imagined I was going to be this deep into the fandom the day I wrote that. I don’t even remember writing it, to be very honest. I just shake my head, HAH. I think I really started understanding Johnlock because of this post here. It’s still one of my favourites and is one of the ones I credit for helping me understand what I was watching was actually a romance, not a “crime show”.
Anyway, after learning how to read subtext from mostly LSiT (they wrote a meta about how to read subtext and it was super informative) and other Johnlock bloggers, I wanted to try my hand at my own little Johnlock meta. It was more of an observational post, as my way of trying to interact with the fandom. I am a terribly nervous and shy person, so I never tagged anyone in anything. It was an overwhelming fandom, and it was terrifying to interact. A few bigger bloggers noticed me and were nice enough to comment on a couple of my posts, but I mostly stayed in my little corner, and interacted with my small little group of other smaller fans. I dabbled in both fanart and writing, just plopping my thoughts and art into the aether, hoping something would interest someone enough to start a discussion.
I started getting braver, and I was “moderating” some of my favourite posts that weren’t mine, but had my additions to it. Mostly, the Phones and Hearts post. I didn’t want to impede, but it was one of my favourite posts, so I went and copied all of the comments in the notes and put them onto one post. I don’t honestly remember HOW I ended up moderating it, but I just did because I was FASCINATED with symbolism, and I was excited because I could finally read subtext and understand it. I still had a small following, and a few people I regularly interacted with on my blog.
So, during the hiatus between S3 and TAB, somewhere along the way I suddenly had a sexuality crisis, when I suddenly realized I wasn’t broken and there was absolutely nothing wrong with me, and damn it, there’s such thing as split attraction model and asexuality?? Mind was BLOWN. I was also slowly becoming obsessed with Mary’s character, and at the time I couldn’t understand why (inevitably, it was because of events happening in my own life and me trying to understand them), but I really enjoyed just psychoanalyzing her. It’s something I’ve ALWAYS loved doing – character studies; I’ve done it in EVERY fandom I’ve been in – and I was doing it for her, Sherlock and John’s characters.
So yeah, nothing much really happened to me during the S3 hiatus, except my entire world view flipped on its head and I was completely Johnlocked beyond repair. I became known for some painful posts and some lovely revelations and writing a lot of character study posts on both John and Sherlock. I’m very proud of some of my earlier meta, just sad they never really got seen (some of my earliest meta can be seen on my Ao3).
Then came the announcement for TAB in 2015, and the start of my “Tumblr Career”. I put a lot of my energy into my fandom life. I was OBSESSED with TAB, and became known for it. I put my moderation skills to use and created the TAB Starter Pack, which started gaining me some followers because OMG some loser is taking the time out of their day to compile all the news about this new series! AWESOME. I remember, it was around this time I was excited because I got to 1895 followers and it was one of those milestones all Johnlockers like having, hahah.
In October of 2015, I lost my job and was unemployed. Conveniently, this is also the time when the promo season for TAB started, because we now had a name and airdate. I devoted a LOT of my time, when I wasn’t job hunting, to working on this blog. I was just writing a lot, and obsessing about the upcoming episode.
Then the trailer aired.
And immediately after that trailer dropped on October 24, 2015, I made this post here, which, some would probably say, was the beginning of everything for me. As I was writing that post, with a cracking headache, something clicked in my head, and several hours later, I had written and posted the original Mind Palace Theories of TAB at 2AM-ish, and went to bed.
When I woke up, my post had suddenly gone viral and I couldn’t figure out why. Then it just kept expanding from there, and I made sure to include everything I could onto it, because WOW something I wrote was gaining traction, and interaction, and I just wanted us all to have a good time with it. And as the time for TAB drew closer, suddenly I was gaining followers, and more people interested in what I had to write. I welcomed everyone to continue to predict the outcome with me.
January 1st. Was a complete and total mind fuck. I was liveblogging the episode, and inadvertently created another viral post with my Mycroft’s Death post because FUCK ARE THEY KILLING MYCROFT OFF?? kind of freaked people out (sorry loves!), which gained me some more followers, and at the time, my top post was my December 31st reblog of my Mind Palace Theories post, so anyone who came to my blog, it would have been on the first page of it.
After the episode aired, suddenly, EVERYONE had questions for me, about EVERYTHING, but mostly to scream at me that I was a mind reader, LOL. No, I’m not, I was just a sad, unemployed twat with too much time on my hands and was avoiding job hunting. But good god, all DAY on Jan 1, I was replying to asks, gaining followers like crazy, and pretty much just stating my opinion on anything that someone wanted to know.
I became known as the unofficial TAB blog, and the one to come to with questions about my interpretation of the episode. I was SO obsessed with TAB, studied every nuance and narrative structure I could. 2016 was “my heyday”, and it was fun. I found my niche, and meta-writing is what I became known for. And until I got a job in April of that year, I was a pretty solid presence in the fandom, if I understand some of what I’ve been told correctly. I still ran my blog as full-time as I could having a full-time job, and still do in some ways, but yeah, 2016 is when I produced a LOT of meta, mostly Mary meta because, as I said above, I was and am obsessed with her character arc. I was learning about myself a lot more by writing meta, and my “original” meta turned into “asks” meta, which was fine by me, because I do like a good prompt to get me going.
Somewhere in there I also somehow became the blog new bloggers came to, which I didn’t and don’t mind at all, because being new in a fandom is scary and I wanted to be a friendly face because I like meeting new people.
Then we got an announcement for S4, and like TAB I also kept track of anything and everything S4-related, so once again I was sort of the “go-to” place for everything S4 because I compiled all the stuff from setlock bloggers and listed them all for easy-access. I kept track of everything promotional, and I reblogged some of my favourite pre-S4 meta here.
Essentially, I LOVE organizing things, and people liked that I LOVED doing it, so that’s sort of how I kept my following when I wasn’t posting as much new meta. I did make a few original meta before S4, and I made a 68 day video countdown to the series which is cringy AF and I’m not linking it (lol you can find it if you look hard enough).
We all know what happened in S4. I took a bit of heat after S4 aired, because I got people’s hopes up. I was discouraged for a bit, but then I started receiving asks that weren’t really asks, but “I need advice” and “I need support”.
And I started answering life questions, and realized people LIKED my responses, liked my little personal anecdotes in each of my replies, and felt comforted by it. So, after S4 aired, I became an eclectic mix of life advice, meta, fics, music and TJLC / tinhatting blog. I have a “no judgement” approach to my blogging, and I think that’s why I’m still gaining a steady dozen or so followers every couple weeks, rather than losing. The only time I took a big hit was the Tumblr Feedpocalypse, where they fucked up the algorithm and I’m not getting nearly as many hits on my posts as I used to, but that could also be because we lost so many people to S4, especially after Jan 1, 2018 when people were hoping for another episode.
I personally don’t think I’m popular, but I suppose I am by Tumblr standards. I dunno, I think we all have that “starry eyed” view of popular bloggers, and I just can’t picture myself as someone anyone would fawn over. I’m just me, and you can take it or leave it.
I think where I’m at now and what I’m known for is a good place to be, to be honest, despite how S4 turned out. I’m not certain, but I FEEL like I have a positive reputation here, but don’t quote me. I know I have people in this fandom who hate me, and quite frankly it saddens me that they feel they need to expel energy on me that way when they deserve to just be happy and forget about me.
ANYWAY, sorry that got long and rambly, but it’s something I’ve wanted to talk about for awhile, but I was waiting for the prompt to come because *shrugs* I dunno, self esteem thing, makes me think no one REALLY cares until someone actually asks, hah.
And if you made it all the way to the end here, Love ya Nonny, and thank you for asking and thank you for being a follower of my blog

How My Only Son, First And Second Husbands Died - Ebonyi Woman Who Escaped Being Burnt Alive Speaks
Tumblr media
An old woman who nearly died when an assailant set her house on fire and allegedly tried to kill her has told her story.
A woman believed to be in her 80s, Mrs Regina Opoke, almost lost her life recently in the Ishielu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State when an assailant set her house on fire and allegedly tried to kill her. She shares her experience with EDWARD NNACHI
Your house was burnt by an assailant who allegedly tried to kill you. How did you escape?
It happened at midnight; I was in my house and suddenly, I heard a sound as if someone banged on my door. But before that, I had heard a violent altercation outside as if two people were fighting. So, when I heard a bang on the door and it opened, I saw the suspect looking everywhere and shouting, “Where are matches? Where are matches?” It was then I quietly opened the back door and ran away into the bush. That was how I escaped.
Where were you when he set your house on fire?
I was in the bush when he set the house on fire. I hid behind a door when he was searching for me and could not find me. When he started looking for matches, I ran into the bush. I waited there for a while before I ran to see Rev Fr Malachy Arinzechukwu Nkannebe at St Joseph Catholic Church in Eguho village, Ezzagu community, in the Ishielu Local Government Area.
Why did he want to kill you?
I didn’t do anything to him. I never had any quarrel with him. After he was apprehended, some people in the community asked if I did anything wrong to him and he said no. I think he was possessed by the devil.
Did anyone else see him when he came to your house?
As he approached the house, I could hear someone’s footsteps. But thank God, his younger brother, whose name is Chisom, saw him and asked him what the problem was. He pushed his brother away and smashed through the door. At that point, I carefully approached the back door and hid there. It was when he was saying he needed matches that I carefully opened the back door and ran into the bush.
His younger brother begged him, but he did not listen to him as he went on to set my house on fire.
Does he live in the same village with you?
Yes. We live very close to each other; in fact, it is almost like the same compound. His house is only a stone’s throw from mine. At Onunweke Ubia village, in Eguho-Ezzagu community, villagers build houses close to one another. So, we live in the same village or compound.
Did you have any encounter with him before then?
No! Since I moved into that compound, I had never had any quarrel or altercation with him. Everyone knows me to be a gentle and peaceful person. I don’t look for people’s trouble.
What could have led the suspect to behave the way he did, to the extent of burning your house?
I don’t know. I’m still very surprised and completely dumbfounded by the incident. Sometimes, I think the devil must have pushed him to do what he did. Sometimes, I think it must be sheer wickedness, and at other times, I think he must have had a mental illness. But he doesn’t have any mental ailment.  And I cannot say he was envious of me; what do I have that would make him to be envious of me? He was just wicked.
The suspect reportedly confessed that he killed a woman in this same village two years ago. Did you know the woman?
Yes. He reportedly confessed that he was responsible for the woman’s death when villagers apprehended him. He said it openly in the community. But initially, he denied he was the one who killed the woman, Chinelo Edeh. The late Chinelo Edeh and I used to live in the same place. One day, she went to her farm and did not return. We looked for her everywhere but it wasn’t until the third day that we saw her corpse under palm fronds in the bush.
This Chima Edeh, who set my house on fire, at that time, denied he had a hand in the death of Chinelo and the villagers believed him then. But the truth came out recently when he confessed he killed her.
Who did the villagers think was responsible for the woman’s death at the time?
We thought she was killed by someone from a neighbouring village. Chinelo’s body had been cut into pieces and covered by palm fronds when we saw it.
It was after he was caught that he confessed that he was the one who killed Chinelo. But I keep thinking, would he have confessed to committing the crime if he had succeeded in killing me? I’m not sure. I think he would have continued in his wicked ways. God just wanted to expose him.
Where have you been sleeping since your house was burnt?
My condition, I must tell you, is very pathetic. I feel the whole world has turned against me and life is meaningless to me now. But there is hope. My head is still on my neck, so there is hope because with God, all things are possible.
I have been sleeping in the church – St Joseph Catholic Church, Eguho-Ezzagu. It is where I worship. And God has been using the priest here, Rev. Fr. Malachy Arinzechukwu Nkannebe, to take care of me. Life has to go on. I’m grateful to the Father.
How difficult has the situation been for you, particularly as you don’t have any child?
The situation has been very bad for me. Consider it: how will a childless woman feel? She will always feel sad. Life has been difficult for me to be honest. That I’m alive today is because of the people God has directed to assist me. I would have been dead if not for the benevolence of God’s people. I did everything and went to different places, just to have a child, but all to no avail.
Did you not have any child or you lost them?
I had one child with my first husband, but he died during the Nigerian Civil War. Later, my first husband died of cholera. I remarried and shortly after the marriage, something happened. I was told his (my second husband’s) cousin, who was an apprentice with a businessman in Onitsha, Anambra State, allegedly stole his boss’ money; they said it was a lot of money. So his boss asked the apprentice’s relations to come to Onitsha so that the matter could be resolved. My second husband had an accident on his way to Onitsha and died. He died within two months of our marriage. We had no child.
Since then, how have you been coping as a widow?
To be honest with you, I went into a relationship with a man after my husband died. But I asked myself, “What is the essence of being in relationship with a man who is not your husband?” I could not answer that question. On several occasions, I thought about my life and decided to quit the relationship. I didn’t think it was worth it so I quit the relationship. Honestly, life has not been meaningful. It has been a difficult experience.
What do you do to survive?
I was an active subsistence farmer from my 20s to when I was in my 60s. But these days, I have not been as active as I used to be. I have suffered so much. Soon after I gave birth to my child, who died during the Biafran War, I became very ill. All the parts of my body were swollen. Afraid that the illness might be contagious, villagers drove me into the bush. I lived in the bush for close to three months. It was during this period that my first and only child died.
Reports say you are 80 years old, what makes you so sure of your age?
During our time, people hardly kept registers for births and deaths. But I have been to hospitals several times and the doctors there always say I’m over 80 years old. I don’t know my real age. I think I will learn to agree with numerous people who have repeatedly said I’m 80 years old.
Where is the assailant now?
He is with the police. The day he set my house on fire, the villagers were able to apprehend him. They handed him over to the police. I was invited by the police recently; I went there and told them what happened. While I was there, I heard someone saying, “Good evening, good evening.” I turned around and saw he was the one greeting me. I answered him. I have since forgiven him but the police should do their job thoroughly.

My Secrets To Success
I did not take any paid courses to achieve this success. The two tweaks I did were all free 30 day trials. I canceled one before the 30day trial needed because it wasn't needed longer than that.
How will this make me money?
Pinterest is the home to millions of users. Once you start having people seeing your pins (images to match to your site). Once you have views on your site. It's up to you to lock them in to being loyal subscribers and potential customers to any of your products.
  1. Change to a Pinterest Business Account
This is the very first step you should take when you want to drive traffic from Pinterest to your site. If you already have a personal account it is easy just to convert over in the settings section.
2. Change Your Pinterest Name Format
Have you ever seen how those polished bloggers have a polished look to everything attached to their brand? Go look at your favorite blogger that is successful. I guarantee you that their name in Pinterest will go like this: Name| 30 characters or less Description of what you do Take a look at mine:

3. Change Your Bio
Write up 2 to 3 sentences to describe who you are and what you do. But here's the catch. Grab the readers attention. Make them interested. And most importantly use SEO Keywords. This is important because the search engines (Google, Pinterest,Bing) will like you more. Think of SEO like this: When you go to type something into Google or Pinterest and you are given other options to predict what your sentence or question maybe. Those predictors are high ranked keywords.

If you’ve chosen to name your domain so you can skip this part. This for you If you haven’t previously picked the domain name-I don’t know how to pick a premium or brandable domain for my blog when I began my blogging career and that’s why I wasted 10 + domains because I don’t like it and they don’t look brandable either.I don’t think you make the same mistake as me?If so, then yes! Here are four tips for discovering your dream domain-Keep it Short & Quick – Try to keep your domain as possible, don’t make it too long because it’s not easy to pronounce and only because it’s easy to remember. (Jon Morrow changed their domain name to BoostBlogTraffic to SmartBlogger, and their blog gets millions of traffic because its domain now looks simple).
Use Keyword – You can use your keyword in your domain, which helps in the SEO process.Don’t use numbers – you can’t use numbers in your domain, because remembering numbers isn’t easyAlways use the TLD extension – I suggest that you use the.com domain extension because it’s for global use.If you can’t figure out the domain for your blog yet, you can use one method to find brandable domain name: LeanDomainSearchNote: Which platform would you use for blogging?I’m not going to give you a lot of time to clarify which platform is best, there’s a lot of blogging platform you can use to create your blog, but I’ve suggested that you go with WordPress. Why? For what?Since you can’t control editing or customizing anything in other sites, but WordPress allows you the right to make your blog as you want. You have a lot of plugins and themes in WordPress which you can use to make your blog Awesome! And I hope you can get a sense of why WordPress is fine, how blogging can make money.  How to make money from blogging.Web Hosting – A web hosting is a location where all your blog files are stored and your blog lives are seen when someone wants to access it. Hosting is like the computer’s hard disk, which held all of your data (images, messages, pages, etc.) and kept your data safe.
.How to make money from blogging. Now, do you believe the wordpress hosting is best for you?Lots of web hosting are available that you can use to launch your new blog. Yet, since they are useless, I do not recommend that to you.And instead of giving you the hosting list lot, I suggest that you go with the siteground.Since Siteground is the No.1 host for beginners, and honestly there is excellent and very reliable help and service; it’s also not very expensive like another hosting. So, are you just excited about starting your business?
I tried every cheap hosting when I started blogging but the load time is awfulStep 4: Build your blog on WordPressWordPress deployment doesn’t resemble rocket science,The only thing we do have is a detailed guide. I’m going to set up your WordPress site here in this section, to make it live on the web.Second, you must go to your siteground wallet, if you have already purchased it so that after logging in to your wallet you can see the same interface:To make a brand-new website, you may select the start of a website option. You then have to click on the app you want to use,To connect to your website, click on the WordPress app. After that you need to fill in some information of your website login:
This information is important, so I suggest that you write your password in the dairy sector so if you forget to search there,If all the detail is filled out,
Then you need to click on the full wide button to continue with the process.Finishing setup of your WordPress website will take a few minutes.
Click the Proceed button to go to customer area now:They are my account button in the menu, and click on the tab of installation:To visit your new Blog admin dashboard, you can find a button Go to Admin Panel:After you enter your login information, which you select during the installation, you will be redirected to your WordPress dashboard and click the login button. That’s just completing the first WordPress website setup, note or bookmark this URL:https://yourblog.com/wp-admin/                                  How to make money from blogging     .
.If, by chance, you forget the URL so you can log in to your dashboard using the above URL structure (replace your domain.com name with your domain name).        .
.Step 5: Pick a Catching Attention ThemeTheme and blog looks more relevant after installing wordpress when you’re just starting your new site.you move forward to make money out of blogging.
.The blog design is critical in blogging, because if you don’t have a great design, you will lose a lot of traffic and audience. Good design helps create more trust for your readers and making money from blogging would make you dream come true.In your WordPress inventory, there are plenty of free themes available for you to go for it, because you don’t want to spend more money on it in the initial stage of blogging, but then when you earn anything you have to buy paid themes because these free themes are easy to hack, and you’re going to lose all the website details.      How to make money from blogging. Some of my favouritesAstra Pro – Astra Pro is lightweight and the theme is simple to customize. This theme is like a generatepress, but they have a lot of features that can’t be found in generatepress, and you can also make your homepage attractive and sensitive by using elementor.Focus Theme By Thrive Themes – Focus theme is the most effective theme with all the options available, such as email opt-in, shortcodes, and many more. The theme is totally sensitive and simple to customize. If you’re an affiliate marketer so for you this theme is like gold because it’s tailored for conversion. There are more features that will help you make your website better.Scheme theme-Schema theme is developed by mythemeshop, and the best part of this theme is optimized by search engine. It is aswell the fastest style, too.GeneratePress – GeneratePress is the theme I ‘m actually using in my blog, and to me it’s so far working well because it’s easy to customize this theme so that every newbie can customize it. This theme ‘s popularity is overwhelming. If I want to select themes from all of the above, I choose generatepress because of its stunning appearanceNow it’s time to update your theme on your blog after you choose one theme. To install any WordPress theme on your blog simply follow these steps below:First of all, you should be logging in to your WordPress dashboard.1. You’ll find different free themes in the themes section, but if you already have that, click on the add new button.
2. Click the Upload button, then upload and activate your zip button to your blog. Finally, you have your favorite theme built and allowed into your blog. Installing is a theme is an simple task but customizing the theme is the key and important task. And if you want to customize your theme, you can now customize your theme by clicking on the appearance.Since making your theme sensitive and configured now, I’ll tell you some of the most critical plugin that almost every WordPress user installs, and running your website on automation is also an important part of that. It’s not that straightforward to make money from blogging, you’ve got to build quality content to attract more traffic.Step 6: Several Useful WordPress PluginsWordPress without plugins is nothing to do with plugins (Optimize your content, for SEO, Pace and much more). There are loads of plugins on WordPress, but there are some plugins I ‘m actually using on autopilot and make these stuff.Need to know my favorite plug-in list?   How to make money from blogging.   How to make money from blogging. So, here is the list of my plugins that I personally use on virtually all of my website –Elementor or Thrive Architect-Those are the web designers for every website. Those plugins allow you to drag and drop your dream landing page. I used both, and they’re very lightweight to use and they help me create an awesome webpage.       How to make money from blogging.Rank Math SEO-SEO is critical for a lot of traffic to rank and drive. Rank math is the latest SEO plugin which is now becoming a favorite for any blogger. Most bloggers suggest you go with Yoast, but since they don’t have loads of apps like that, I don’t recommend that. You can read the review on my blog, for details.WP Rocket – You already know speed is one aspect that Google has to rate on. So wp rocket is the plugin which helps you optimize and make your website faster. If you are looking for an alternative to this, I highly suggest that you buy this plugin so you can go with Autoptimize.Thrive Leads – If you want to gather your readers’ emails then you can try to thrive leads that help you make pop-up lightbox, sticky ribbon, overlay screen filler, lock material and more.iThemes Protection – Protection is the No.1 priority; a lot of times someone is trying to hack your website, and this plugin lets you protect your whole website. It is important that you use the protection plugin to keep your blog safe.UpdraftPlus – Your website backup is needed, although your website backup is maintained daily. But I used this plugin to back up my website everyday for greater protection. This plugin lets you backup your entire website, and you can restore it anytime you need it to.Anti-Spam – Someone makes remarks about spam on your blog several times. This plugin will help you when someone comments on your block looks like spam, so this plugin automatically removes it.Resmush.it – If you write an interesting article that has a lot of picture in it, this plugin will try to optimize your images and thus easily load your website.      How to make money from blogging.Social Snap Pro – Social snap is a plugin for social networking, but I like this plugin so much because it helps push traffic from media like-Facebook , Twitter, and many more channels.Below are the top plugins that I have already used to run them properly on my all website.      How to make money from blogging. If you wonder how to mount the plugin, do you? Let me help you with this,Go to your Dashboard on WordPress            How to make money from blogging .  How to make money from blogging. Then go to Add New Plugins                 How to make money from blogging .  How to make money from blogging. Then upload your zip file to the plugin and press “install now”.Click on the “disable button” after installation to install the specific plugin.Let us now move on to other matters,Step 7: Read, and publish your First Stunning PostLooking to write your first blog post?So let me help you write your blog post first. [NF][NSFW] The Customer Is Not Always Right
The Customer Is NOT Always Right
It was a Friday at the strip club just after the free lunch buffet rush. Some of the night girls usually come in early to work the happy hour. We run a pretty busy crowd all shift on Fridays; one main stage and three sides. I tell the night girls if they come in early, expect me to put them in stage rotation or get the hell out. We put on a goddamn show during my shifts.
So I am walking around the club, doing manager stuff and walking by the main stage. I notice a five-top with two young ladies and three guys, one maybe late fifties, sitting right at main stage. They are laughing and having fun. I think about an hour goes by and I walk past that group again. This time, they were pretty boisterous. I made a mental note to check them in a half hour. Before I walked much further, something caught my eye from under their table. It was shiny or reflected the bar lights. Our table stands are all painted black so maybe it was a sequined purse?
I casually walked over to the table smiling and greeted them and asked them how they were doing. They responded pretty much how a table full of happy drunk people would respond. I had bent down to look under the table at what had caught my eye as they were talking. After I realized what it was, I reached in and grabbed it – a half-empty handle of Tito’s Handmade Vodka. I’m trying to figure out how they walked this big-ass jug in without getting noticed. (Side note: I worked with a white-trash stripper at another bar that almost succeeded in smuggling two longneck beers out of the bar inside her pair of skin-tight jeans.)
I stood up and asked the table, “Whose is this?” The older guy, acting like a drunken magician slurs, “Tuh-dah, bish! Mine.” He stumble-lunges at his jug o’ vodka and I Heisman Trophy his ass – tucked the jug tight in the crook of one arm while giving him a gentle (for me) stiff arm with the other. I questioned him as to what possessed him to bring this massive bottle into our establishment. He responded that we were out of Tito’s the last time he came in to our club.
About this time, their waitress came over. I asked her if they have a tab open and she nodded in reply. “Close ‘em out,” I told her and she scampered off. I turned back to the table and insisted that they finish their drinks; they were leaving. The older gentleman started to get loud and belligerent so I started walking towards the main lobby. No need to ruin everyone else’s good time. I caught the eye of their waitress who, by this time, was closing their tab at the waitress station at the main bar. I made hand gestures for her to bring the tab out to the front. She nodded and I continued on with the drunken ensemble in tow.
In the lobby, one of the younger gentlemen started to apologize; the old guy was their boss. He claimed they were celebrating and did not mean to cause any problems. Here comes Mr. Idiot and he starts slobbering and spitting while he is talking. I did not even hear a word, I just put my finger up to my lips for him to be silent and I stated, “You got caught with your pants down and now you’re leaving.” His whole head started to glow like an incandescent tomato. He sputtered profusely and I could see that I had upset him something considerable. I tucked that little nugget of information away for later.
The waitress came out with the old man’s card and the tab and handed them to me. The jug was still in the crook of my left arm as I nodded to the guy to step up to the lobby counter. I handed him the tab but kept his card (slipped it into my shirt pocket). I grabbed my pen and extended it to him so he could sign the tab. His tomato face had paled remarkably and the look on it had changed as well. He made no attempt to grab the pen. He just started stumbling for the exit doors. “I ain’ signin’ sshhit! Ima cancel mah card,” he declared slowly, as if his tongue was wading through a peanut butter marsh.
I grabbed the tab and quickly followed him out the exit doors with the whole entourage and now quite a few of the regulars to boot. I figured they followed for equal parts help and also entertainment value. I easily overtook this real life Weeble Wobble and I again handed him the tab to sign repeating, “You got caught with your pants down. Now sign the tab and you can go.” Oh boy did his face get hot!! It was all blistery red like he had just chewed up a Carolina Ghost Pepper. I was standing about three feet away but I swear I could feel the heat coming off his head. I thought it was going to pop when he yelled, “I DIN NAH HAVE MAH PANTZ DOWN!!”
It is eerie how my boss, the area director, has the ability to show up when things are getting off kilter. I see him standing quietly at the edge of the crowd sipping on a can of Diet Pepsi, looking at me as I responded to the guy, “It’s nothing more than a figure of speech. Now simmer down and sign the tab.”
He feebly attempted to push past me as he reiterated that he was not going to sign the tab and would indeed cancel his card. This whole event, I have been fairly stoical. I have been through this situation countless times but now my fuse has burned short. Still holding the tab in my hand, I stopped him, looked him dead in the eye and advised, “You’re not going anywhere until you sign this tab, old man. Here’s why.” I held up the illicit jug of Tito’s.
“You sign the fuckin’ tab right now, goddammit, or I swear to Christ I’ll call the cops and have them throw you in jail. It’s illegal to walk into a bar in Texas with your own alcohol. That’s one. You’re practically shitfaced. That’s two. I’ll have a description of your car with license plate number for the cops if you bail. That’s three.” My eyes got all squinty as I leaned towards him. “Sign. The fucking. Tab.” He stood there, using every last drop of his ball juice to stare back at me in defiance. Finally, he caved.
He grabbed the pen and tab. He turned one of his friends around to use their back to sign. His eyes shot daggers as he shoved the tab at me and started to lurch past. I looked down at the tab to make sure he did sign and not pull a stunt like just a scribble. I would haul him back inside and reprint that tab until my shift ended or we ran out of thermal paper if I was not convinced it looked legit. Thumbs up on the signature. I then looked at the tip line.
“Zero? My waitress had nothing to do with you being an asshole drunk.” He did not even acknowledge my comment. He wanted his jug of vodka back and I shook my head. “Mine,” I stated through clenched teeth. He mumbled something unintelligible and then stumbled towards a crappy yellow station wagon parked across the lot. His cast of misfits had largely remained quiet this whole time but they quickly gathered together and pooled their cash. The one young gentleman handed the pile to the waitress and it looked like some decent cabbage. He walked past me with the rest in tow and said, “I’m sorry. That’s our boss. He does this quite a bit.” I told him he needed a new boss as I handed over the credit card.
They followed their boss out to the banana car where the boss was leaning against the passenger side door. I was not moving until I saw that car off the lot and made sure the village idiot was not attempting to drive. The group that was still assembled outside behind me watched as the station wagon backed out of the space and came slowly around towards the exit.
The old guy was furiously working the crank to roll the window down. Probably to throw one last sarcastic remark at me before they wandered off. I spun the top off the jug of Tito’s vodka in the time it took him to roll his window halfway down. I did not say a word. I just looked at him and started slow pouring his vodka all over the ground.
He watched in horror and disbelief until every drop had spilled onto the pavement. I thought I saw his bottom lip quiver a little as he silently rolled up his window and waved the driver to go. I witnessed utter defeat in an opponent that day and it was all that I thought it could be.

Instagram’s IGTV copies TikTok’s AI, Snapchat’s design
Instagram conquered Stories, but it’s losing the battle for the next video formats. TikTok is blowing up with an algorithmically suggested vertical one-at-a-time feed featuring videos of users remixing each other’s clips. Snapchat Discover’s 2 x infinity grid has grown into a canvas for multi-media magazines, themed video collections and premium mobile TV shows.
Instagram’s IGTV…feels like a flop in comparison. Launched a year ago, it’s full of crudely cropped and imported viral trash from around the web. The long-form video hub that lives inside both a homescreen button in Instagram as well as a standalone app has failed to host lengthier must-see original vertical content. Sensor Tower estimates that the IGTV app has just 4.2 million installs worldwide, with just 7,700 new ones per day — implying less than half a percent of Instagram’s billion-plus users have downloaded it. IGTV doesn’t rank on the overall charts and hangs low at No. 191 on the US – Photo & Video app charts, according to App Annie.
Now Instagram has quietly overhauled the design of IGTV’s space inside its main app to crib what’s working from its two top competitors. The new design showed up in last week’s announcements for Instagram Explore’s new Shopping and IGTV discovery experiences. At the time, Instagram’s product lead on Explore Will Ruben told us that with the redesign, “the idea is this is more immersive and helps you to see the breadth of videos in IGTV rather than the horizontal scrolling interface that used to exist,” but the company declined to answer follow-up questions about it.
IGTV has ditched its category-based navigation system’s tabs like “For You”, “Following”, “Popular”, and “Continue Watching” for just one central feed of algorithmically suggested videos — much like TikTok. This affords a more lean-back, ‘just show me something fun’ experience that relies on Instagram’s AI to analyze your behavior and recommend content instead of putting the burden of choice on the viewer.
IGTV has also ditched its awkward horizontal scrolling design that always kept a clip playing in the top half of the screen. Now you’ll scroll vertically through a 2 x infinity grid of recommended clips in what looks just like a Snapchat Discover feed. Once you get past a first video that auto-plays up top, you’ll find a full-screen grid of things to watch. You’ll only see the horizontal scroller in the standalone IGTV app, or if you tap into an IGTV video, and then tap the Browse button for finding a next clip while the last one plays up top.
Instagram seems to be trying to straddle the designs of its two competitors. The problem is that TikTok’s one-at-a-time feed works great for punchy, short videos that get right to the point. If you’re bored after five seconds you swipe to the next. IGTV’s focus on long-form means its videos might start too slowly to grab your attention if they were auto-played full-screen in the feed rather than being chosen by a viewer. But Snapchat makes the most of the two previews per row design IGTV has adopted because professional publishers take the time to make compelling cover thumbnail images promoting their content. IGTV’s focus on independent creators means fewer have labored to make great cover images, so viewers have to rely on a screenshot and caption.
Instagram is prototyping a number of other features to boost engagement across its app, as discovered by reverse-engineering specialist and frequent TechCrunch tipster Jane Manchun Wong. Those include options to blast a direct message to all your Close Friends at once but in individual message threads, see a divider between notifications and likes you have or haven’t seen, or post a Chat sticker to Stories that lets friends join a group message thread about that content. And to better compete with TikTok, it may let you add lyrics stickers to Stories that appear word-by-word in sync with Instagram’s licensed music soundtrack feature, and share Music Stories to Facebook. What we haven’t seen is any cropping tool for IGTV that would help users reformat landscape videos. The vertical-only restriction keeps lots of great content stuck outside IGTV, or letterboxed with black, color-matched backgrounds, or meme-style captions with the video as just a tiny slice in the middle.
When I spoke with Instagram co-founder and ex-CEO Kevin Systrom last year a few months after IGTV’s launch, he told me, “It’s a new format. It’s different. We have to wait for people to adopt it and that takes time . . . Everything that is great starts small.”
But to grow large, IGTV needs to demonstrate how long-form portrait mode video can give us a deeper look at the nuances of the influencers and topics we care about. The company has rightfully prioritized other drives like safety and well-being with features that hide bullies and deter overuse. But my advice from August still stands despite all the ground Instagram has lost in the meantime. “Concentrate on teaching creators how to find what works on the format and incentivizing them with cash and traffic. Develop some must-see IGTV and stoke a viral blockbuster. Prove the gravity of extended, personality-driven vertical video.” Until the content is right, it won’t matter how IGTV surfaces it.

Link-building with real-time Penguin in 2016 and beyond
Tumblr media
The last Penguin update in the Google’s core ranking algorithm, Penguin 4.0, is finally released and the new update processes in real time. Now, I want to discuss the new Penguin update and evaluate its effects on the SEO campaigns and how SEO community can continue improving their organic visibility without any fear of repercussions that their brave and bold efforts could attract due to punitive search engine algorithms. The announcement Release of Penguin 4 brings all the speculations about this update to rest. The Penguin 4.0 update has two important factors: Penguin is now running in real time The biggest advantage of this update is its real time processing. There are many websites that have already been punished for low-quality SEO but they haven’t fully recovered even after disapproving the spammy back-links; sites built on shaky ground can’t be strengthened by removing the links alone. But the sites that are facing algorithmic issues could now move ahead as they have paid the price for punitive algorithm. Penguin is now more granular Penguin 1.0 took aggregated approach but the next update took a granular approach by adding page-level and keyword-level penalties. Now the Penguin will possibly focus on individual links making the approach more granular than its predecessors. But the impact of this approach on sites is yet to be revealed. In my opinion, those going by the rules will see positive results. It is also to be seen how the update is adjusted with other 200 factors used for ranking websites. Now Google has integrated both Panda and Penguin in its core ranking system and I suspect that the new update can bring changes in other factors as a result. Another interesting point to note is that webmasters won’t receive any updates from Penguin will now work in real time. Updates will be made as Google crawls hence no announced will be made regarding the tweaks made. In my opinion, it is a good thing as it allows SEOs to keep doing their good job instead of fearing for the results of link-building strategies. Links are still important Google has clarified that links are important. Googlers like John Mueller, Gary Illyes and Matt Cutts have simplified the importance of links for website ranking but at the same time, they warn SEOs of focusing only on links. Let’s understand importance of links from examples. A five page website with thousands of links but no social activity will see no development but a site with great content pieces and solid reputation signals through social and PR activity can do a good job even with only hundreds of quality links that have varied anchor texts spread across the web looks more natural than the site working with links only. Links are important but link-building shouldn’t be taken into isolation. Ideally it should be the result of great marketing. So, SEOs need working smartly and not technically to move in right direction. What Google wants? Analyzing Google’s recommendations is always useful as carefully worded press releases and webmaster guideline pages can help in understanding the recommendations completely. From the Penguin 4.0 announcement: More focus on web designing From the Link Schemes page: Create informative content and generate high-quality links for your site. Unique content gains popularity naturally as it attracts viewers and the viewers could link the content to their sites. A back-link is an editorial vote and it is given by choice. From the Webmaster Guidelines: Make your website unique in design so that it creates value for visitors and keeps them engaged. From the original Penguin announcement: It is same announcement made in the first point. What is common in all the points is quality. Whether it is design, content or link, Google sees quality in all the attributes of a website. “Create informative content and generate high-quality links for your site.” This statement says everything about link-building but there is a problem that is Google looks for more. So, creating good content alone can’t help in building links. You have to make it visible for viewers. What you can do to increase visibility of your content is to establish relationships with others that might be interested in your content. They are bloggers and website owners. Your objective should be to use the relationship to build links that get your site noticed. Google’s definition of high quality is adding value to the site. Create a site that is useful for targeted audiences and then let the audiences know about the site. Doing it other way could help generate links in large volume even when there is nothing valuable to link to. Mistake most SEOs make with link-building is they direct their campaigns back to front. Campaigns are started without adding value to the sites. But the problem can be solved by first adding something valuable to the sites and then encourage viewers to link your site to theirs. Link building tactics A brief introduction to the tactics that follow the points mentioned above Basic prospecting Try finding resource pages and directories relevant with your website using different advance query operators. Having a load of content on your site will make it easy for you to find relevant resource pages that could link your content. Search resources using keywords +resources, +links, +directory and other terms that indicate a relevant resource. Competitor research Try finding useful resources from sites linked to your competitors but make sure that you have something valuable on your site before you approach those sites for linking. Also remember that a link that is useful for your competitor might not be so useful for your site. Guest post prospecting Guest posts can help increase visibility of your business and attract visitors of relevant sites. But quality should be kept in mind. For instance, if you find a piece in an article relevant to your site and you want to link it to your site then it should be done in a natural way that is through editorial vote. If I want to link your blogs to my site then I will first search blogs and see whether there are any guest authors. You can search blogs by searching “Keyword” + “guest post,” “keyword” + “write for us,” “keyword” + “contributor”. I prefer this way over tools as most sites behave authoritatively. Content + Outreach Write quality content for your website and then contact the sites that exchange links. If they find your content valuable to their sites, they will certainly exchange links. Your content should add value to what they are offering to facilitate swapping of links. The Skyscraper Technique is good for this job but it isn’t always perfect. Broken link building The process of broken link building is similar to #4 but here the objective is to find broken links on relevant sites that can add valuable links to your site. You need filling the gap with content to use broken links. The process is to help sites with broken links and it can give great results. Locate potential sites and crawl the sites with Screaming Frog or Xenu Link Sleuth to find broken links. There is much work to do in reviving broken links. Local organizations Local businesses can help tap local markets or specific physical locations. You can find social groups like clubs relevant with your business. Offer them sponsorship to get a link on their sites. Find genuine reasons for establishing relationship with those local businesses that can give more exposure to your business. This way, you can generate quality local links. Press and PR Use press and publications of the real world to get exposure for your website. It will help generate quality back-links for your website and in the long run, it will build brand and trust for your site. It isn’t end of the list as I don’t see link-building as a technical process but as a strategy tailored to suit individual needs of businesses. There are many instances that show that tactics that worked well for one business failed completely when used by others. Linking is all about creating value for your as well as for others. The process is to determine what is right for you and adding links to your site to make the linked pages informative for the visitors. But to achieve this objective, you have to make sure that your site is the best at whatever it does so that the linking site is benefitted by your site. Final thoughts SEOs should rely on their findings. Linking sites to spammy directory listing is good for nothing. They could be good for SEO as tons of links can be generated by the process but this backward approach generates no real value for the linked sites. And all the efforts and time spent on building links go in vain. There are many articles on how search engines work and the approach of low-end SEO agencies whose practices are in opposite to Google guidelines. It is true that Google displays ads but these ads give access to information and it is a good thing. Sadly, there are webmasters that demand cheap SEO and this demand creates services that are cheap. But thanks to Penguin 4.0 that puts an end to such low-value and cheap practices. Conclusion I firmly believe that Penguin 4.0 will keep a tab over the traditional link-building process that is back to front. The new update might need some fine-tuning in future but as of now, it has link-building a process to improve sites first before hunting for relevant sites and starting link exchanges. How to write scripts for advertising on YouTube and how it differs from a television colleague
youtube video seo rank creation other hottest tips [solve and working tips 2018]
Television and the Internet have two differences:
There is a choice on the Internet.
There is Vasya on the Internet.
Vasya will be called a person who can spoil your advertising campaign with one comment. It happens and vice versa - only thanks to Vasya your advertising is effective. About how to make a script for advertising on YouTube, to draw Vasya to your side, and will be discussed in this article.
How to write a script
The script is usually arranged as follows: the sheet is divided into two columns. The left describes what is happening on the screen, in the right - the sound part. For example: Picture  The man is surfing the Internet. The sites are crammed with SEO ads. Sound SNAKE VOICE: SEO is a pret from all the cracks. This is suitable if the voice is off-screen, but you can use the classic design, when the image and sound are described alternately, not in parallel:
A man is sitting on the couch and watching TV.
MAN: Although here I will rest from this optimization.
On the TV show ads for SEO agencies.
ZAKADROVY VOICE: SEO - found another gap.
It is not necessary to describe what is happening in the smallest detail. If there is a chase in the video, describe only its key points. The rest - the work of directors, decorators, operators, sound engineers and other professionals. If the video for you will be filmed by someone else, most likely all these people will be on the team (bloggers work independently). If you yourself - unnecessary descriptions you do not need. At least in the scenario - it should only describe the development of the plot. Try to make minimum remarks, because actors see your script not how you see it. And the director sees him wrong. And the operator. Therefore, do not give clear instructions on the work of everyone. Just describe what should happen in general. For a remark like "close-up on the face" you will not be thanked.
Do not forget to consider the following factors:
product;
format;
timekeeping;
filing;
a platform;
actors;
audience.
Learn all this before writing a script. If you already have a brilliant idea, write it down so you will not forget it. But in any case, do not bring to execution, until you completely understand the topic - after the launch of advertising may emerge something that will spoil the entire campaign. Now we will go through the points and consider how this all differs on YouTube and TV. And we will not forget about Vasya's contribution.
The product is all over the head
First, study for whom the product is intended, what its advantages are, why the price, what raw materials are used in production ... By collecting the information, you can understand how to best submit the goods. The product may be of poor quality. What then? For example, you are advertising smartphones. They launched advertising, the goods sold on a huge scale. And then it turns out that they are exploding batteries. Who do you think will be accused? The correct answer is everyone: producers, advertisers, actors, sellers and all-all-all. Lenya Golubkova is still hated because of the pyramids. Probably, even more than the Mavrodi himself. If you are a manufacturer, do something with quality. If you are just an advertiser, try to avoid sharp corners, and for this you need to know them in advance. Vasya can tell about his negative experience of using the product. If someone confirms his words, the advertising campaign can no longer be saved. The product will be remembered as something bad, the producer and the advertiser - as liars. You can be reproached for lying, even if you just kept silent about the significant shortcomings. So do not try to please everyone - you can tell about a minor defect. Yes, you will lose those for whom it was important that your knife be cut by titanium, but gain the confidence of others.
Possible Formats
It is desirable to use several formats at once, but not on one site. Let's say you can come up with short inserts at the beginning , middle or end of the videos on several YouTube channels. On another issue a review. Do not advertise anything on the overview channel in the form of inserts or anything like that - Vasya can blame the observer for corruption. Vasya does not want advertising, he wants to find out the truth about the product.
Here are a few formats:
Harvested inserts. Distracts the viewer from the main content. Even if you write an excellent script for insertion, other formats will be more effective with the same amount of effort. Analog on television - commercials. Differ a little timing.
For example: telblog.net. Inserts are the main way to advertise on this channel. In this video, he seamlessly moves from the main topic to advertising. Objections to legality and security are closed. There is also a dark side of the channel - the insertion is out of place and not on the topic of the video.
Integration. This includes everything - from the direct call of a blogger to buy something before the product placement. This may be the phrase "video sponsored by company X" or "I bought Y mascara at a discount, you can do the same" and so on. A classic television example: in a culinary show, the chef recommends the same oil to everyone and uses it himself. If it's not too intrusive, it works well.
In spite of the fact that "in the Road" almost every video inserts the pre-roll from Aviasales, in some videos it has integration. For example, in an interview with Yevgeny Bazhenov . In his videos, he uses a smartphone and reads questions from him. In this video you can see that the smartphone is red. The video does not say where this smartphone comes from, but there is a link in the attached comment (without a call to action). The drawback is that in the next interview, he again uses an old smartphone.
Exclusives. Rollers fully for advertising. For the Internet, the format is controversial, because the audience does not want to watch pure advertising. Only if the video is really unusual and interesting.
Here, for example, advertising prefix Super Nintendo . In the video, he causes nostalgic feelings in his audience, so the likelihood that someone will follow the link is great.
Reviews. On television, reviews are not so widespread. In the teleshop can demonstrate the goods, but the shortcomings will not say a word. On YouTube, there are a lot of reviewers, and the format itself is interesting to users. If you are going to order a review, simply send a thematic blogger your product - he will do everything himself.
For a change, let's take a look at the guitar . What is in the review: a description of the characteristics, checking the sound. Conversion of the video - 100% (only one copy was sold). For each of these formats, Vasya has something to say. If you know what will hurt Vasya, you can prevent possible conflicts with the audience.
Prepared inserts do not like Vasya, because they are distracting. Spectators refer to them either neutrally or negatively. Vasya can say something about this, but his words will change almost nothing. Rollers will still look, and inserts will remain somewhere in the subconscious (in marketing, this is called touching). Integration irritates Washuu only if done inaccurately or too often flashed. The best integration is one that is almost invisible. It's not that the viewer does not see the product, but that he does not understand if this is paid. If the bloggers use a tablet of one brand, then no one should see it with the competitor's tablet. "Be yourself your best buyer. As far as possible, use only those products that sell. Your customers will certainly think: "If the seller himself is satisfied with this product, this is the best recommendation." "Sell yourself dearly," Joe Girard said. Bring the topic to the product you need smoothly. This is not a television show, where the presenter says harnessed and unfriendly jokes: - Something is hurting my head ... - Headache? It's time to drink a pill "Ge" and listen to a new song by Ivan Petrov! Exclusives - the top "zashvkara." Vasya will never forgive you if you make a full commercial. The only thing that can appease him is creative. It's not possible to do everything as in a native, because the exclusives usually say directly what they want from the viewer. The review should be honest. Vasya can write that he used the product, and that he is not as good as the blogger says. Or he can read reviews and say that the observer deliberately kept silent about some significant shortcoming. In addition, the blogger does not need to encourage the audience to buy. Otherwise, Vasya will understand that the review is bought - he will then stop trusting.
How long can this be tolerated?
The length of the video depends on the format. The best option - until you bother the viewer, but to fully open the proposal. You must be in time to show the benefits of potential customers in a short time. Inserts are the shortest. They can go from 3 to 10 seconds, because then get bored. During this time, you need to give a maximum of specific information. Exclusives can be as long as you want. But the viewer should be interested to watch, otherwise he will just close the tab or turn on another video. Do not forget that there must be dynamics in the videos. If you have never written a script, it will be easier for you to compare this to alternating sentences of different lengths. In this five, in that - seven. Different designs. Different forms. And then again a long sentence to keep the reader in suspense. If the entire text is packed with sentences of the same length, it will be difficult to read it. But we're not talking about that. The reviews have the biggest timekeeping. Here you can not bother at all and tell everything about the product. The main thing is the pitch.
Musical accompaniment
You can achieve dynamics not only from the video, but also from the sound. Feel free to embed music. Many like this scheme: a minor part on some instrument, most often it's a piano, the melody gradually turns into a major (fun) or simply accelerates. What, meanwhile, is happening on the screen: the problem of the viewer is indicated, and then its solution is given in the form of a product. About the same: first sad, then the melody becomes more aggressive. Pause. Cheerful notes. Another example: Calming music gradually dissolves into aggressive (the transition from good to bad). Then again begins pacifying music (the hero used the product, which solved his problems). A favorite device in advertising medicines. As you have already understood, the dynamics of music should correspond to the dynamics of the narrative. There are commercials when first there is no music, and then something fun begins. Most often it happens in advertising food or drinks. There are movies at all without changing the dynamics. But this should be avoided (in music and in the plot), because it's boring to watch such stories. History must move from good to bad, from bad to good. It can be pumped (from bad to worse or from good to better), but no more than twice and with a mandatory change in polarity. Remember how you came to the cinema for a movie. You are introduced to the hero-loser, and then show that his life is getting worse: he is fired from his job, his wife leaves, betrays a friend, smashes the car, gets in the rain. You sit and wait, when something interesting begins, because the movement in one direction tires. Constant turns of the plot, on the contrary, keep in suspense. Why keep the spectator in suspense? So he looked at the video from start to finish, otherwise you will not have time to explain what the advantages of your product are.
Which channel should I choose?
Of course, thematic. It's as clear as day. But there is a problem - there are bloggers without specific topics. You can order an overview of your technique from a blogger who specializes in technology reviews. But what if the channel has tops only in a row or different news? Here you will need to try to put the advertisement in place. This can be a one-time integration. For example, you ask the blogger to cover the news about your product. This will work only if it is really news, not the information of a hundred years ago. If it is any tops, you can ask to put the product in the first place. But remember, Vasya does not sleep. The product must really have advantages over competitors.
There are other types of channels:
comedians (the whole video is one big advertisement, in which the characters understand that they are inside the advertisement),
flatsplays (most live off donations, but this advertises games and services for buying games),
criticism (for filming used the same camera, so viewers see the product in the case),
vlogers (as in the video do not - earn bad fame) and so on.
For everyone, you can come up with a way to successfully insert advertising.
Actors on television and on the Internet
As you already guessed, the best effect can be achieved when it is not clear that this is advertising. Therefore, it is not worthwhile hiring other actors for filming. It's enough for the blogger and his team, if there is one. If the choice is limited to a couple of people, you will have to adjust the script for them. If you doubt that the blogger can pull out the acting you need, do not write anything super complicated. Consider what role is best for a blogger and build on this. For television, usually castings are cast and selected from hundreds of actors. During the commercial break from watching the movie, Tom Cruise does not advertise crackers. This is done by some left-wing characters, which were not in the film. A blog is a one-man show.
Lecture hall
Bloggers working in one direction may have different audiences. Do not think that since you write an advertisement for the flyplighter, his audience will consist of schoolchildren. Try to study the channel carefully before starting to write. Maybe you do not like this blogger and his audience. Imagine that both bloggers are surveying phones. But the first audience has money to buy them, and the audience of the second - no.
Viral Rollers
Most often viral become the original exclusives. If the video becomes a virus, in which there is integration of your product, this is also good. When users are so interested in watching ads that they share a video on social networks or telling friends when they meet or over the phone, the viewers themselves distribute the videos, which makes them look like an infection. Hence the name. There is no exact formula to make the video viral, but there are a couple of tips. First, rest assured of what you are doing. Secondly, go to the end. Third, provoke. Created ads OldSpice ("Yes, I'm on a horse!") Clearly wanted to make it viral. And still many remember it.
Sudden turn
Many bloggers will refuse to play your scenario. The reasons can be two: either they come up with scripts themselves, or they can not realize what you are asking for. A professional blogger can be trusted, but if you doubt that he will cope, try to convince. If it does not work out, ask the script, according to which he will shoot the video. If you do not like it, look for either a more professional blogger or one that agrees to your script.
Helpful Tips
Now that you've taken into account all the factors, you can start writing a script. Here are some tips to help you:
Avoid stamps. Most likely, you simply will not have time for them (which is even good).
Maximum of specific information. Better in numbers.
Only truth. Big Brother Vasya is watching you!
Do not count on a huge budget and Hollywood special effects. To remove the blogger will do its own thing, so make an emphasis on the plot.
Affect the topic, which is close to the chosen audience.
Try to use trends. For example, recently all YouTube was packed with commercials about Oxxxymiron vs. Battle. Dizaster. How would you use it in advertising? "Rvy competitors, like Oxxxymiron Dizaster'a" or asked the blogger to shoot a video on the topic of the battle and put there thematic advertising?
At last
Just do not think that Vasya is a king and a god. He can spoil everything, but only if everything is critical with the product or advertising. So do not be afraid of it and experiment boldly. Go to provocation, do something very unusual or even disgusting, frighten, amuse the viewer to tears. In general, do not be lazy and do not worry too much. Cropping your idea of wings, you run the risk of appearing insincere. Do not pay attention to the trolls. They will write negative comments in any case. If you have enough imagination, try to come up with an original answer (for example, a song written from negative comments ). If not - ignore. Just do not miss the moment when your reputation falls for the line of no return, otherwise you can get it - a song about an airline that refused to pay for a broken guitar . Although sometimes it happens on hand. Good luck!
