Summary:  After spending three years away from Chicago without a single attempt at communication, Mouse comes back. And his friend's first Christmas back in the city comes with more emotions and meddling than Jay is capable of dealing with.

Warnings: implied PTSD, mentions of a(n off page) life threatening injury, Thelma isn’t there physically but she is mentioned briefly in the context of Bad Parenting and general narcissism

He didn't even know how he'd ended up there, sitting next to someone he once called his best friend and now felt like a stranger, driving toward downtown. Jay knew there were places to get bigger trees if he went outside the city, and Platt did say she wanted something big enough to display in the lobby, but that wasn't going to happen. If he did that, he'd have to spend more time with Mouse, and the silence was already awkward and tense, and he doubted either one of them wanted to put up with more of that than was strictly necessary.

After two months of working on the same team again, they hadn't actually fixed anything.

Things hadn't exactly ended well between them, when Mouse left. They'd fought, and the decision had been questioned from every angle, and one day... his best friend was gone. He'd shipped off to a war zone on the other side of the world without a proper goodbye. There were no letters, no skype call requests, no emails, no contact at all. Jay thought that would be the end of it. He didn't expect to ever see his best friend again, let alone wake up in a hospital room after getting shot in the chest, with a familiar face nearby. The only conclusion his mind could come up with at the time was that he'd died, that there was no possible way that Mouse was standing over him and making sure he was okay. But death probably wouldn't have hurt that much, if he thought about it long enough, and reality was all too obvious.

what would you think of a love triangle between adam, kim and dante? hear me out! dante asks adam if him and kim are together, adam says no. then he asks adam “so it’s cool with you if i ask her out?”. adam wants to say no, but he knows he doesn’t have the right so he says yeah. dante asks kim out, kim is a little taken back at first then turns him down, he asks her if it has anything to do with adam. “i asked ruzek. he said that it was cool with him. that you guys aren’t together” kim tells him “yeah he’s right. we’re not”, but deep down this bothers her and she realizes adam is the reason she is turning dante down, adam is the man she wants to be with!

a selection of names and roles edward has played in the fam over the years:

edward masen, nephew of dr carlisle cullen. used to explain his disappearance from the hospital in chicago.

edward masen, brother-in-law to dr carlisle cullen. the pair posed as a widower that had taken in his wife's little brother for two years before esme.

anthony platt, brother of anne cullen née platt. one of the first stories they used after esme joined them.

edward cullen, son of esme and carlisle cullen. this one first gets used just before they move to rochester after his rebellious years. esme suggested it as a way to mend carlisle and edward's still strained relationship. they both cried about it.

edward platt, brother of rosalie platt, esme's brother and sister. rosalie refused to take carlisle's name for many years, wouldn't even entertain edward's, and edward refused to take hers, so they compromised with esme's maiden name.

anthony hale, brother of rosalie hale, carlisle's niece and nephew. this one annoyed edward because almost as soon as they got everything set up, rosalie demanded to marry emmett again and became rosalie mccarty within five months.

mostly he uses edward as his first name, and either cullen or masen as a surname, depending on the story they're telling in their new location. he never uses anything but edward or anthony as a first name though. he tried once and never got used to responding to the 'wrong' name. (the name he tried was william). he can still miss being addressed when going by anthony, but it still grabs his attention enough to use it. for the false identities he uses for his 'inheritance', or financial portfolios, or charity, etc, he doesn't much care what name gets used.

(there is a spreadsheet with all the cullen aliases kept on a computer in the CEE inc office. it is very large.)

Great observation!  Domestic av.engers is 10/10 my comfort ship, to go back to when I need Soft Vibes. It's so fun to be a big ol found family!! As far as s/is, I would love for them to be friends, please-

Max and Xiomara would be such fun friends! I read a little of your s/i write-up, and I feel they'd get along swimmingly! They'd definitely have a bit to learn from each other, and I think they'd have fun teaching each other, maybe over tea!  And as far as Syntax, I play fast and loose with her story, so it wouldn't be much to move her to Xavier's!! She's been my ma.rvel and all related stuff s/i for ages and I kind of edit her backstory to fit her where I fit her. Would be very fitting though to add Xavier's to her timeline since I went back + rewatched the first couple movies + got Major Sibling Vibes from Charles - And yes FOB!!! There's mainly fob, a few p! ones and one or two mcr ones, bc I haven't grown out of my emo phase and I still love all that music, but I vibe super heavy with FOB so they got the honor of being most of my tags-

Now that I have successfully rambled a mile of stuff, on to answer questions! 👍The Good Part👍 ~ What moment made you realize that you had to be with your F/O?  For the Lo.st Bo.ys!  - I think the defining moment would be one night on the boardwalk, the boys stood up for Marina. As someone who had to hide what she was from her friends on shore in Key West, she was always afraid that revealing who she was would scare people away. And even knowing the boys weren't human, she was still wary. You never know how people will react. But one night she was alone before they got to the boardwalk, and they found her getting harassed by some ner-do-wells and scared them off. That was proof to Marina that they cared. 

🌃Chelsea Streets🌃 ~ If you could go anywhere, where would you and your F/O wanna vacation at? How would it go? With the Johnathan & the rest of the Byers fam + Hopper? Like a big family trip? Byers Hopper clan road trip? Oh boy. We'd probably embark on a massive camping trip, I wanna say north Michigan. Considering I'm familiar, it'd be super fun. Platte River Campground. I've got no clue if it was around in the 80s, but that's a great place for the fam to camp + see all the sights north Michigan has to offer, like porcupine mountain, the lake in the sky, and of course the bridge. 

🎶Overture🎶 ~ Tell us a few of your favorite/most important memories involving your F/O! With Stefan? OH boy... Even if it had alterior motives, the Mi.kaelson Ball! It was so fun. Getting dressed up, fancy party style. Dancing with Stefan, swoon.  A funnier memory is Stefan giving her the "I'm a vampire" speech and Max laughing and telling him she had a feeling, which leads to a conversation about her abilities.

Ben Being on Vocal Rest Headcanons

So your boyfriend, Ben Platt, is on vocal rest for a week and it started yesterday—Sunday, August 20th, 2017

It was somewhat funny to you because he had to carry around a whiteboard, marker and eraser

ya know, so he could still communicate with people when you two were out in public

Anyways, sometime Monday morning you were in the kitchen (of your condo/hotel room/wherever you two are staying), making him some tea that would help him when he woke up

then you heard your phone ding with a text

it was from Ben and it read:

Hey, (y/n), where did you go? I wake up and you’re gone :(

You chuckle to yourself and text an answer: I’m sorry, sweetheart, I was in the kitchen fixing some ginger root tea for you to drink

A moment after you send the text, you hear Ben getting out of bed and then hear his footsteps approaching the kitchen

Your lips curl into a tender smile as you look over your shoulder and see him, whiteboard in tote

Rolling your eyes, you say, returning your gaze to the tea you were making for him and yourself, “You didn’t have to get out of bed, y’know. I was going to come back with the tea”

Ben walks up to you and hugs you from behind, resting his chin on your shoulder; you could feel him shaking his head no

“I’m serious, I swear I was coming right back after I fixed the tea, you goofball”

He nods, producing a low, almost inaudible hum; this signals that he knows you were telling the truth, but he still wanted to get out of bed

“Don’t hum either, Ben. No noises come out of you for an entire week, remember” you scold him for humming

Ben pulled away from the hug and writes on the whiteboard, “But (y/n), it was just a barely audible hum, I think that’s fine maybe like once or twice”

Rolling your eyes you answer, “No, it’s not fine. You were told not to make any sounds and I’m gonna make damn sure you don’t! Can’t have you damaging the gorgeous voice I love hearing so much now can I?”

At this point, you turn to face him and gently touch his cheek, flashing him a toothy, sweet grin

For a moment, Ben forgot to breath; you were always so nice to him and looking out for his health, even when he wasn’t

Erasing his previous words, he replaced them with new ones, “You’re right, doll”

“Damn right I’m right, Platt,” you answer, grabbing your and his cup of tea then pressing a kiss to his cheek, “Now, want to come sit in the den, watch tv, and drink your tea?”

He nods and follows you into the living room; he nestles on the couch right beside you, on your left so he could write something if need be, and places his communication method on the coffee table in front of the couch

Once you’ve both settled into your spots, you hand him his cup of tea, warning, “It’s hot, be careful, honey”

Ben gives you a sarcastic “ya don’t say?” look as he takes his cup into his hands

“Look, I gotta warn people, okay? Last time I didn’t, Will broke one of my teacups like the dork he is”

The two of you laughed, Ben obviously laughing silently, at the thought; Will was hilarious

The two of you sip on your tea as you watch Criminal Minds for the remainder of the morning and well into the early parts of the afternoon

At one point during the afternoon, Ben wrapped his arms around your shoulder as he scooted closer to you, leaning his head on yours

After he does this, he reaches for his whiteboard, grabs it, brings it onto his lap and starts writing, “That ginger root tea was delicious, thanks baby”

You smile as you read that and reply with a sweet, “You’re welcome, Benny, anything to help you get better”

“Have I ever told you how much I appreciate and love you?”

“Yeah, quite a few times. I think everyone’s sick of you gushing how amazing I am backstage that’s how often you do it, Ben”

You could hear him rolling his eyes as he erased the board and writes, “I’m not apologizing for gushing over the best thing to happen to me. I will keep doing it”

A laugh erupts from your throat, “Will’s gonna flip a table if you keep doing it”

“And? He’s just jealous that I napped the hottest, chillest, awesomest, most caring person.”

“Awww, that’s sweet, Ben”

“It’s the truth” he writes back, writing truth in big letters and underlining it

You roll your eyes and say that he is just saying that to flatter you, that you certainly aren’t the hottest, or the chillest, or the awesomest but that you try to be the most caring

His marker clatters to the whiteboard as his hand shoots to your face and forces you to look at him; once you were looking at him, he mouths slowly, “You are all of those things, (y/n). And I love you with all my heart”

Oh, OH, O H!

Your heart melts as you read his lips; you answer with a shy, little, “…oh… wow… th-thanks Ben…”

This adorable man gives you the single, cutest, most heart-stopping smile that could be mustered on this earth as he just softly pulls you into a kiss

Kisses with Ben were almost always sweet to the core, and this one was no different

oKAY, so it may have been a bIIT different, mAYBE!

But Ben swears it was only cuz he couldn’t voice anything how he felt for you in that moment and just writing that ish down for you to read would nOT cut it for him right then

The arm around your shoulders falls down to your waist and he pulls you closer to him on the couch

Ben is like pouring all the feelings he couldn’t articulate to you at the time into this single kiss:

YOU WERE DYING!!!

Instinctively, your hands dart to his hair, fingers combing through his silky soft hair,

which caused a pleasured sigh to escape him through his nose

Soon you two were completely lost in the kiss, your hands in his hair and one of his hands still cupping your cheek and the other still around your waist

You are so lost in the bliss that you neither hear Ben’s whiteboard and marker clattering to the floor as it fell out of his lap, nor do you feel him tugging your body down on top of his

Subconsciously, you hands eventually slide out of his hair, down the back of his neck whereupon reaching the nape of his neck, they go their separate ways as they traced along the tops of Ben’s clothed shoulder-blades over his shoulders and down to the center of his chest

Okay, now you need oxygen and are the first to reluctantly pull away from your heated kiss

It is then that you realize you’re straddling Ben and you look down at him in confusion, asking, “Whoa, whoa, whoa, when the heck did this happen?”

Playing coy, Ben shrugs his shoulders before using the hand that had not left your face to comb some hair out of your face; so your (h/c) locks wouldn’t obscure your gorgeous (e/c) orbs from his longing gaze

You blush a bit, realizing the loving and pinning gaze your silent boyfriend was giving you

“You did this while I was lost in the kiss, didn’t you?”

With an slightly devious, but overall loving, smile, Ben nods

You gasped and gently slap your hand against his chest, blushing and looking away, “Ben! You devil”

Reaching over the edge of the couch, Ben retrieves his whiteboard and writes, “Well, what can I say? I like it when you straddle me, doll”

“You are such a sub, Ben,” you groan, winking at him

He erases and writes, “It’s sexy for you to be in charge, okay? Sue me!”

You smile down at him, shifting your hips and watching him bite his lower lip hard to refrain from making noises

“I know you find it incomprehensibly sexy when I’m in charge, Ben. Which is why you’re hard right now, huh?”

A blush rises on his cheeks and he quickly writes, “Okay, maybe! And most of that excitement came from the kiss! I promise!!”

“Looks like we got a situation on Aisle 23 that needs to be immediately subdued. I repeat, subduing needed on Aisle 23 immediately” you say as you start to remove your clothes

And the rest of the day was spent dealing with The situation on Aisle 23 over and over again because Ben kept finding ways to kiss you and get you to straddle him

As your url implies, pass me the table salt (your opinions on Dear Evan Hansen)

Truly a time to live up to my url

but like first of all, I really enjoy the original show, or at least the soundtrack (never got to actually see it myself because it didn’t come through our neck of the woods rip) so that’s where I’m coming from.

But like I get where people who don’t like it are coming from because Evan is very much the antagonist of his story and the ending mostly absolves him, but tbh I think the rest of the supporting cast and the songs devoid of context are really good.

(Maybe that’s bad for a musical but eh, j’aime que j’aime)

UNFORTUANTELY the filmmakers seem to think the audience relates to EVAN SPECIFICALLY and by all indications are doubling down on coddling his character and smoothing him over. THAT’S why he’s the only character who’s original Broadway actor is returning because the people working on this think that Evan, the white boy who lied and then doubled down for clout and also to get the girl because anXiEtY is like the peak representation of depressed kids

Even though like. EVERYONE IN THIS SHOW IS DEPRESSED. ITS THE POINT

I haven’t even seen the movie. I’m basing this on prerelease interviews and dialogue changed in the songs, fyi

Also! They changed it so not only have they removed the song where before Evan is revealed to have lied his mom and two friends call him out for acting like a selfish jerk, THEY ALSO made a the white friend Indian and gay, so like they’ve changed it so Evan who is again, a sad white boy, was helped and then pushed aside two POC and then REMOVED THE PART WHERE HE GOT CALLED OUT FOR IT? And they specifically said songs that weren’t “real” enough were removed too which is. A Bad Look.

Or removed the song about it which is telling in a musical because that implies that moment gets less focus, even though the creators said they wanted to expand on certain characters

ALSO THAT SONG (GOOD FOR YOU) IS THE BEST ONE IN THE FUCKING SHOW FIGHT ME

I’m just, they could have expanded on the stage show to give us a story about how being hurt does not absolve you from hurting others and just because you hurt someone else doesn’t mean you can’t be hurt your self

Evan could be an Anti-Hero! This could be a tragic fall from Grace!

Instead they are DOUBLING DOWN on the inspiration porn aspects so Ben Platt can get that EGOT

(Granted: award shows are meaningless and do not reflect the actual quality or impact of a film so honestly? Give him the EGOT I wanna see the film snobs lose it)

Actually fun story: one time while we were listening to Dear Evan Hansen my dad said he could imagine Ben Platt being in the tour or in a film version as the dad character which would make so much more sense than having him try and be a teenager

The creators in one breath were really like “oh this is such a powerful and relatable story” and in the next were like “ONLY Ben Platt” can bring this character to life like fam do you not SEE THE HYPOCRISY THERE

Look I know it’s cause his dad is a producer and they can’t admit to nepotism but like I SEE YOU

Also the filmmakers just seem embarrassed that this is a musical like they’re straight up calling it a “drama with songs” instead of a musical which I am so fucking tired of MUSICALS ARE POPULAR BECAUSE THE PEOPLE ARE SINGING. ACCEPT IT ALREADY

Until one day Eddie brings Chris by the firehouse on the way to a doctors appointment to say hi to the fam and Chris sits next to buck on the couch and says ‘buck will you sing the tangled song for me’

why is drawing anything other than these three

So hard for artists to do?? Its 2020 and we have LOADS of talented portrayals of these characters, yet people only stick to these three specifically

Why?

Why is it so hard for the majority of fandom to appreciate anyone else OTHER, than Mike Faist, Ben Platt, and Will Roland

The Be More Chill Fandom has a similar issue but worse because at least the Dear Evan Hansen fandom has appreciation posts for other actors and they're aware of them somewhat

HOWEVER THE BE MORE CHILL FANDOM

When you speak about wanting to see more fanart than just Will Connolly!Jeremy, they get si pressed and say shit like "Nah fam, imma do what I want", which, fine, but you're being ignorant instead of helpful, if you have nothing constructive to say or don't care at all, then don't say anything

2:) Support the People who do make content

Don't just like and scroll away, the reblog button is right there and it's better to reblog and share, then to like and do nothing

3:) Support the Actors

I encourage you to send them some love, I'm talking Boardway, West End, and National Tour Deh

4:) Be mindful and aware

You can like the Original Three men who played, Jared, Connor, and Evan. That's completely fine but please be mindful that you do have other options besides those three specifically.

Be mindful, that if you are making content, you don't have to always use Mike, Ben, And Will for your portrayals

Heck, you don't have to use any actors, you can redesign the Complete cast if you wanted to! My opinion if, you should!
