unbelievably easy plant-based meals: moroccan vegetable tagine
WHAT YOU NEED:
veggies of your choice! truly anything goes as it’s just a big chunky veggie stew. I used sweet potato, yellow bell pepper, onion, butternut squash, eggplant, and carrot (all chopped into bigger 3/4th to 1” pieces since it’ll be simmering for a long time)
2 cans diced tomatoes (I used fire-roasted for extra flavor)
1 can chickpeas (optional) 
3.5 cups broth or water 
3-5 cloves minced garlic
SPICES (cinnamon, cardamom, coriander, turmeric, cumin, cayenne, garlic powder, ginger, harissa if you have it or sub paprika)
dried apricots or dried cherries or raisins (roughly chopped)
zest & juice of 1 lemon
HOW TO MAKE IT
just a prep note: you will cook all the veggies separately in batches for a couple min in the big deep soup pot first before combining them to make the stew. that means you can chop the next veg while the previous one cooks to save time!
heat oil in a big deep soup pot over medium-high heat. chop your onions & mince garlic. once the oil is sizzling, toss in the onions + garlic and cook for 2 min. chop the next veggie while the onion/garlic is cooking.
once the onions are done, scrape them into a big bowl and throw in the next chopped veggie while you start cutting up the third one. keep repeating this till you’re finished and have a big bowl of lightly sautéed veggies. most veggies will cook ~3 min or until they’re a little softened.
make the spice blend while your last batch of veggies cook. I don’t measure usually I just dump spices into a bowl in roughly the proportions the recipe calls for. this one was heavy on the cinnamon/cardamom/cumin/coriander and then a little lighter on the ginger powder/turmeric/cayenne (you can omit the last one if you don’t like heat).
when the veggies are all done, dump ALL the veggies back into the soup pot and mix in your spice blend. salt & pepper generously. let it all cook for a min or two as you mix to coat all the veggies in the spices.
dump in two cans of diced tomatoes. salt lightly and stir for a minute to combine. you can toss in your chopped dried apricots at this point too—I just eyeballed the amount but about 1/3 a cup maybe?
dump in the 3.5 cups of water or broth (your choice—I used broth but apparently water is more authentic lol). cook uncovered over medium high heat for ten minutes. taste and re-spice/salt as necessary. you probably will need to! I added more cinnamon, cardamom, ginger, and cumin at this stage.
lower to a simmer. cook uncovered for 25-30 min or until the squash and sweet potato are sooooo fork-tender and yummy.
add the drained chickpeas. taste the broth again and adjust spices as needed, then cook 5 more min.
add the zest and juice of one lemon. don’t skip this step as the ZING of the lemon takes this dish to the next level. you can also add some big handfuls of baby spinach if you, like me, are hooked on wilting leafy greens into stews. I also added parsley at this stage.
SERVE!!!! you can serve it over couscous or rice or eat it with the bread of your choice (I made whole-wheat pita) but it’s absolutely hearty enough to eat on its own.

You wanted me to spill tea, and tea I will spill:
The Word of Wisdom is fundamentally misunderstood by everyone (myself included). Let's look at the Word of Wisdom, shall we?
Let's begin with the Prohibitions, as these are the only things enforced by the Church. They comprise of Alcohol, Tobacco, Illicit Drugs, Coffee, and Tea. From the start, we can't deny Tobacco, Coffee, or Tea. The WoW only said "Hot Drinks," but Hyrum (who was authorized to receive revelation for the Church at the time) said it meant Coffee & Tea.
On the subject of Tea, Herbs of the Field. The Lord has told us to use all the herbs of the field with prudence. This is not me saying to distrust medical professionals, but they can help sometimes. I can't count how many times I've had a horrible stomach ache helped by Peppermint Tea. But it'd be dumb to reject the advancements in medicine we've made in the past 10,000 years. This is also why I support medicinal marijuana (and other things like psychedelic therapy). As long as it is used in wisdom & moderation, it can do good for a number of physical and mental issues (such as my grandmother using it for her seizures, or that veteran who used it for his PTSD)
Finally, Alcohol. The Word of Wisdom only prohibits "strong drinks" (which was defined as distilled alcohol, like Vodka). It encourages Mild Drinks (such as beer), and says we can have wine, if Mormons make it. Joseph drank wine (for pleasure, not just for ritual), Brigham owned a Brewery, and on and on. Obviously, wisdom & prudence. If someone has alcohol issues, they shouldn't drink. This fits into my concept of Zion. Drinking for Pleasure is fine, but Drunkenness is unacceptable. We need to enjoy pleasure without getting consumed by them. But since so few of us can manage that, I see why the Church went the way it did
Next, what have we been encouraged to eat. Grain (which is the Staff of Life), Fruits, and Vegetables. There are people who can't eat them (people with Gluten Intolerances & the like), but I can't argue with this. Fruits and Veggies are good
Although, wisdom is required here too. Not all food is made equal. I'm not going to go completely crazy about GMOs (we've been modifying our food for over 5 millennia), but we need to be more careful about the affects. And the flour we use nowadays is stripped of basically all it's nutritional benefits
Final is the mixed category, namely meats & animal products
The WoW never actually mentions animal products, so this is all me. Animal Products are good, and should be used. Eggs (especially considering the "eat meat sparingly" part) are an amazing source of protein. Milk is good for calcium, if you're not lactose intolerant (like I am). The Lord approves of Honey so much he constantly mentions it in association with the Promised Land(s), and specifically told the Jaredites to take bees with them. But, like all foods we've covered so far, careful. My FiL used to be Egg Intolerant, until he started raising his own Chickens, and he's had no problems with those eggs (and they taste way better, and fill me up way more than Store-Bought ones)
The Lord taught us to "eat meat sparingly," and I've seen a bunch of interpretations, from Vegans to Carnivores. All hold some merits, but no one gets it all right. I don't even think I get this one. Ryan Hinkley (a Blogger & Podcaster) said part of his interpretation is that we should do the least harm. He advocates restricting meat use to meats like Venison and Beef, because they are large enough to feed a lot of people over a long period of time (and have you ever had Venison Tacos. Try it sometime, if you eat meat). It mentions Cold & Famine, and this could be because of the extra protein, which allows you to build mass, to keep warm in winter, and last longer in famine times. In addition, if you work in agriculture (especially in the time of JS), that's the most available food you have in the dead of winter. I want to add to this the prophecy about the Sons of Levi offering a sacrifice. Sacrifice for the remission of sins is done away with, but I believe animal sacrifice will return. In Biblical Animal Sacrifice, the Meat (for the most part) wasn't burned to dust, but roasted and eaten. If I am correct, and it does return, then the reason we are to eat meat sparingly is so that when we do eat it, it's as a celebration of the mercies of God. That's just my crackpot theory though, with ideas I've had floating around for years
(And this is all just a theory. I want to try restricting my meat intake & whatnot, but I don't feel ready for that. And even if the Church said we could drink, I probably wouldn't, because I have a family history of alcohol & drug abuse)

once upon a time, in a place where we both stand... “this is so wrong, we should change this” the pretty girl said. but little did she know...
close your eyes, free your thoughts and imagine cassie from euphoria. she wakes up, removes her bath and body works eye patch, goes to her huge bathroom to begin her fifteen steps morning skin care routine she learned from a Korean beauty vlogger Song Hyo Min aka prettypinkpossum12.
after that lengthy procedure she goes down to have her plant based breakfast. she tells everyone that she’s vegan but she eats cheeseburger whenever she likes. there she goes, posting on her instagram story a bowl of yogurt and whatever mixed veggies. for the final touch, she put the hashtag “go eat your greens” but she did not even touch that fucking salad.
her life isn’t complex. she’s born privileged, a nepo baby, she gets whatever she wants. a twitter activist but her activism just stays on that blue bird app. a fake feminist who only cares about her body type, an influencer on tiktok who was once cancelled for mocking android users but pretty girl just pulled off a macarthur and returned unharmed with a different username. she also posts “support small business!” via ig story but that’s just her rich friend’s shop selling overpriced crochet bucket hats. lastly, she’s pretty. she could do no wrong in the eyes of society. she’s aware of her privilege but never admits it. like spoiled crazy claiming she’s a self made baby. i don’t like her but most of all i don’t like her principles.
she goes to a school where according to her, “everybody likes her, haters just wanted to live her life”. she acts as if she’s a modern day regina george. just with the additional cup of slay (admittedly) and bad attitude (oh boy). her overwhelming confidence is her female rizz. she only cares about herself. ironically, on that day, she was set to present a lecture about The Changing World (and what can we do about it).
she doesn’t even know anything. she is out of touch privileged, the worst type. she thinks she’s smart because she knows conspiracy theories, basic algebra, memorized amy dune’s cool girl monologue and the tiktok sped up chorus of enchanted in one sitting. what makes her stupid is the fact that she pretends to know but in fact she doesn’t know a thing. she’s either unaware or she doesn’t simply care because it doesn’t directly affect her, her status, her lifestyle, her everyday life.
she screams politically correct. the truth is, she’s just pretty pretentious. she’s like a break free manipulative female character reject from ottessa moshfegh stories. (oh shit)
she tells everyone to shift to a plant based diet because meat harms nature but is an avid fast fashion consumer. if i had the extra money i would love to print her a statement shirt “practice what you preach” with “because i can’t do it” in lowercase.
but there she goes with her powerpoint revolution, i mean presentation, condemning everyone for their carbon footprints... condemning everyone except herself.

I always find it funny when the rich get to talk about Change. While they actually have the power to do so, it just seems like an airy idea. They don’t get to tell the actual story. They only have an internet perspective of what it’s like to be oppressed. If they want to change, they will only move to the parts that will be beneficial to them. As Edith from Enola Holmes has said “because you have no interest in changing a world that suits you so well”. Exactly. Why would they bother to change their perfect world and lives?
While you try to tell everyone about your perspective of good, you should take into consideration that not everyone has the privilege to just abruptly change their lifestyle. You have to acknowledge that you stand in a special place of privilege to do that.
I once read that the idea of a "personal carbon footprint" was popularized by BP, the world's 6th largest polluter. I have been thinking about it ever since. Big companies can evade responsibility by saying Hey girl, slow down on what you consume you’re destroying Mother Earth but here I am emitting a potent greenhouse gas. Same energy as that pretty girl. Politically correct people mostly come from privileged lives. They can seem to see all the disparity in society because they don’t have daily societal struggles. Girl, they can see the most absolute shit and still advocate for it. Pick a struggle Miss Ma’am. Like why would the marginalized care so much about free speech or eradicating plastic straws when they are struggling for survival on a daily. 
Then we blame them. For not understanding, for not cooperating, for not caring, for every reason possible. 
All we have produced over the years are all band-aid solutions. Global Warming? Quit plastic straws. Air Pollution? Switch to almond milk. Climate change? Recycle your Pepsi bottle. It’s not wrong. At least they’re doing something. Yeah. But it does not hit the core of the problem. It’s all becoming an individual responsibility. I wish this pretty girl and her likes just devoted their energy and wealth to demanding accountability from mega oil companies and other pollution-contributing corporations rather than giving a boring PowerPoint lecture about Claygo. Clean as you go, she said. You should’ve just shut up.
Maybe this other girl let her intrusive thoughts win. She stood up and said, “Shut up”. The pretty girl was stunned, puzzled but later on gave a mocking smirk. She then proceeded to tell everyone in that lecture room how she felt disrespected, blah... blah... blah... I guess this is it. Everyone went quiet when the other girl went in front and said  “You are pretty and pretty much privileged, you are in no position to tell us about the inequalities surrounding this world. We know who you are. Stop faking your principles.”
I paused.
This scene reminds me so much of the catfights in Euphoria. I told the girl beside me.
"Because the pretty girl looked like Cassie?”
"No.”
"Then why?”
“Cause it’s a cultural reset.”

Forest and Lettuce for the ask game!
Forest: What is the most unique location? What is the most common?
There's lots of unique locations but one I would say is the Ember Forest. It's located waaaaay south and it should snow there but it doesn't. Between magic and geothermal activity it never snows. The forest is full of huge trees like the kind from any good fantasy story and you can find ruins of the Emberiri nation of Fey who once lived there. Despite being very south and around the start of where taiga normally would be it's hella warm all year round. It's also an abandoned place. EXTREMELY fucking haunted if you ask a normal Feylon. So lots of animals live there including my fave fucked up Not A Horse; the Unicorn.
Most common is def just the vast farm land and the roads that takes up large parts of the Alliance. Towns dot the road between stretches of grain and fruits and veggies and regularly there are shrines built for travelers and for the harvest. The Gods are real on Gala and they like being remembered and even interact with those who they find interesting enough. Most of the roads in the Alliance are well kept thanks to the social services program in the Alliance. Every citizen must serve in the military for 2 years when they reach ~17. Military service is both combat and social services like digging ditches, being a fire fighter, constructing and maintaining the roads of the Alliance, working as a tax auditor, etc. So it's very common to see lots groups of young people out on the road doing serving their time. They may also be tasked with helping farmers work their fields is the farmer does the paperwork.
LETTUCE - What do the people of this world fear most?
So the Alliance's version of death is: you die, a necrell (reaper) is summoned to collect your soul, the necrell takes your soul to the underworld. There your soul is cleaned and refreshed and you are born into a new body without any memories of your past life. But the necrell must be summoned, which is why priestesses of the god of the dead are so important. They summon the necrell.
If a soul is left in the body it begins to rot. It becomes changed. It turns into a monstrous thing. In the Alliance the phrase is 'become jogull', which are men with the head of a stag (deer share symbolism with the moon and death in the Alliance) with forward facing eyes and sharp teeth for eating flesh. When you become a jogull you become an eater of carrion flesh. You consume the rot of other souls and the bodies of those left on the field of battle, or your own body where you died. It is a fate worse than death. It is seen as suffering unending because your soul cannot become cleansed and rejoin the rest of the souls who get to be reborn again. It is the end of your life for real. It's why suicide is so frowned upon in the Alliance. Not the act of killing yourself exactly (state assisted suicides are a thing) but that your body may not be found. That your soul will rot and you will become a rotten thing.
While I was writing that I went 'oh, the tables are also probably pretty fucking terrifying!'
The tables is what it's known as. But it's a practice reserved only for those who commit great Sins against their fellow man (treason, pedophilia, slavery, necrophilia and blasphemy; depending on the century incest and rape are included as well, the laws go back and forth). You are sent to the Garden, the home of the priestesses of the god of death, and also a school where you learn to become one and where they do some honestly? Pretty fucked up shit. But the tables are seen by outsiders to be THE MOST fucked up. Your sentence is two years if you are tabled. And you are a living specimen for their classes. Classes teach anatomy, torture, dissection, and magical healing. Your body is cut into and open to explain these things. After the lesson your body is healed magically but the trauma of it even with magical healing is severe. If you survive two years your record is wiped clean and you're given an official pardon from the Emperor themself.
In the ~2000 years the practice has been going on (in some way or another, before the Garden it was others) maybe five people have ever been pardoned. Most don't make it 9 months. That punishment is what stops most but the worst actors from ever acting on their horrible impulses. Getting caught is not just the end of your life; its literally torture.

Hello, it’s been a little over a year since I’ve updated you guys about my journey. I’m still all in with my health and wellness goals. (I was initially featured in Feb 2022, and I sent in an update in August 2022.) I’m officially down 125 pounds. 
What was your motivation? My motivation in the beginning was my daughter. Her dad passed away in 2020, and I knew I had to improve my health. I was overweight and had to change. I was the only one left to love and nurture her. 
What inspired you to keep going during the tough times? What inspired me to keep going was that I finally was doing something I never thought I could do. I was choosing me. I was choosing to love on me and work on me for ME. It felt good. 
How did you change your eating habits? I changed my eating habits drastically. I became a Vegan in November 2021 and haven’t looked back. This has been the greatest decision I’ve made regarding my health. 
I am fueling my body with the foods it deserves. I consume a lot of fruits and veggies. I also eat different varieties of beans. I also eat bread, pasta, and rice—balance in everything. 
What is your workout routine? I’ve fallen in love with running for the last year. I’ve run a 5k each month. In April 2023, I ran my first 16k race. It was hard, but what I found out is I am capable of doing hard things. 
I run 4-5 days each week – easy runs, speed runs, long runs, and recovery runs. Running for me has become therapeutic. I’m training for my first half marathon in October. I’m proud of myself. 
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight? My starting weight was 308 pounds. My current weight is 183 pounds.
What is your height? I’m 5’6″.
How long did your journey take? I started my journey in November 2021. I’m almost two years in.
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey? Weight loss surgery is not part of my journey.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far? The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that this walk isn’t about perfection, but it’s more about consistency. I’ve fallen off a few times, but I don’t stay there.
What advice would you like to share with women who want to lose weight? My advice is to pray to God for strength during the difficult times because they will come. God has been my biggest help. I also suggest not to have an all-or-nothing mentality. Instead, be open to the ups and downs that come along with the journey, embrace them, and learn from them. Remember to have a health gain mindset, not just a weight loss mindset.

On a regular day, I found a weighing machine in my home. I dragged it out from a cupboard, blew the dust off with doubt if it would work or not, then I stood over it to check my weight.

I was surprised and couldn’t believe one could live with just water for days.
After a few days, this weighing machine caught my attention again.
I went and stood over it to check the number. This time the number slowly went to 99KG and started blinking.
This made me learn about different types of diets and fasting. I soon experimented with gradual diets with discipline, including water fasting for 2 weeks straight. Within 3 months, I lost 20 kg. From the moment I shared the news, many people started asking what I did, which diet I followed, etc. I even shared with disclaimers.

1. Most of the time, your hunger is coming from the mind, not the body.
When I started fasting with just water, more than me, my family members started to panic that I might get fainted or get a stomach ulcer. But what happened? I was super energetic by just having a lot of water. My eyes were so clear, and I could feel a new energy during those days.

It was a self-realization journey for people in roles of world transformation like CEOs, Innovators & activists.
Before the start of the walk, we had to hand over all our belongings such as money, phone, digital devices, etc. No contact with the outer world.
We walked in the grace of the villagers who might offer food.
Every day we walked for around 20 km and underwent a few processes designed by the facilitators.
During one of the days, the facilitators invited us to Fast the whole day. (Meaning, you may not take the food offered by the villagers and complete your day with just water)
Along with me, a few agreed to fast.
Some who had food, with a fear of getting fainted on the way, got surprised by seeing us walking the whole day under the sun with just water.
Some of us even volunteered for a few more days of fasting.
This leads to another realization
2. We don’t know how much food quantity our body needs.
Do we need 3 meals a day? Probably the answer is yes because we got used to having 3 meals/day.

If having food in the body is logically similar to fueling a car, then with a full tank, a car performs well. But with a full stomach, why do we feel super tired and sleepy?
Many legends in history have said this: “Sit with hunger, get up with hunger.”

Many physically active people who are 65+ years old have been consuming only 1 meal/day.
People who are focused on spiritual growth are always conscious of the type of food and the quantity of intake.

“Good morning, handsome.”
Serena walks up to an omelette-making Ethan, wraps her arms around his waist, and places a gentle kiss on his shoulder blade.
Ethan places one hand over hers, a smile spreading across his face, while the other wields a spatula.
He plates the omelette, turns the stove off, and turns in Serena’s arms to face her. He tightly envelops her, placing a sweet kiss on her lips.
“Good morning, indeed,” he smiles.
“Mmm, that’s my line,” she says, her hands moving leisurely up his bare chest, and her eyes trailing hungrily over his gym-honed physique.
Ethan lets out a hearty chuckle, turning slightly to grab their breakfast.
“As much as I’d love to take you back to bed," he gives her a quick peck, "you have a big day ahead of you, so,” he hands her a plate, “actual protein.”
“Buzzkill,” Serena pouts as she takes the ham, cheese, and veggie omelette from him. Ethan shakes his head in amusement and places one hand on her lower back to guide her towards the dining room table.
“For now, but in 10 hours…” he raises an eyebrow and smirks at her.
“10 hours and not a minute more,” she responds, sitting down, and giving him a stern look.
He laughs again. Something he’s been doing a lot more of since she came into his life. “Yes, baby.”
That seems to please Serena as she smiles and does a little wiggle in her chair, cutting into her omelette.
His apartment overlooks the glittering Charles River and the towering Boston skyline — a view people would kill for. But he’s not paying attention. His eyes are trained on the woman next to him. His t-shirt falls to her mid-thighs, her midnight hair tied at the nape of her neck, and the dainty gold necklace she never takes off is brilliant in the early morning glow. Serena shifts slightly and the faint smell of sunscreen wafts towards him.
“SPF on the face is important!” He grins at the memory.
She spends most of her time at Ethan's place nowadays. It's more private, compared to her shared apartment, and there's more space for them to sprawl out and be a couple. They cook dinner together, with Ethan learning to make her favorite dishes and incessantly asking her to taste test to ensure he gets the flavor right. They've made loading the dishwasher and walking Jenner into a two person job. He's even caught her stashing away some of his clothes in her overnight bag before: "I'm borrowing them!"
On the off nights when she insists on staying at her place to catch up on laundry or spend time with her friends, Ethan goes home to a dark and unwelcoming apartment. There is no source of laughter, light, or warmth. He never noticed it before, but now, Serena is his source of all of that, and more. Home is wherever she is.
How did I get so lucky?
“Why aren’t you eating?” Her head is tilted to the side and her brows are slightly furrowed.
Her question brings him out of his trance. He stares at her for a beat, his azure eyes filled with adoration. “Just admiring the view.”
Serena rolls her eyes and goes to playfully smack his arm, but he catches it. Interlaces their fingers and brings it to his lips. Her eyes soften as they gaze at each other.
“I could get used to mornings like this, you know," he rumbles.
"Yeah?"
He nods his head. "Yeah. I love spending them with you."
"The feeling is mutual, Dr. Ramsey." She leans in, stopping a hair's breadth away from his lips. "But I gotta get ready for my big day now," she says with a glint in her eye.
Ethan tries, and fails, to catch her lips with his own as she leans away and gets up from the table. "You're such a tease."
"Am I? Or are you just getting slow in your old age?" She playfully retorts.
Ethan stands abruptly from the table, chasing after her. Serena squeals in surprise and takes off towards the ensuite.
~ 7:40am ~
Ethan is leaning against the doorframe, arms and feet crossed, admiring Serena as she applies the finishing touches to her makeup.
"How many times are you going to stare at me today?" Serena questions.
He pushes off the doorframe and walks over to her. "As many times as you'll allow Rookie."
He hugs her waist. "Are you ready for today?"
Serena sighs and leans back into him. "I'm a little nervous. If testing doesn't go well today, we'll have to start from scratch. All our work, gone."
For the past few months, Serena has been consulting on a classified research project headed by scientists and engineers at Harvard University. The team was incredibly impressed with her capabilities, shown in saving Dr. Banerji's life and being the 2nd youngest member of the renowned Edenbrook Diagnostics Team, and liked that she provided a younger perspective. They brought her on and Ethan makes the 15 minute detour to drop her off three times a week.
"You all are ready. It will go great."
She locks eyes with him in the mirror. "Thank you, E."
~ 8:15am ~
Ethan puts the car in park, turns on his hazards, and turns to look at her.
"I can't wait to hear all about how today was an absolute success. You don't need it, but good luck." He squeezes her hand.
She nods. "Only 8 hours and 45 minutes left."
"And not a minute more," he smiles at her before leaning in to kiss her.
Ethan pulls away first, not wanting her to be late, but Serena continues to go back in for more soft kisses. After the sixth one, she finally pulls away smiling. She opens the car door, swings her legs out, and walks through the secured entrance.
~ 11:00am ~
The Diagnostics Team currently has no patients, so Ethan's morning is mundane, filled with meetings and endless paperwork. He itches to call Serena to break up the monotony, but knows she won't have her phone on her until lunch: no cell phones allowed in the lab. He settles on sending her a quick text — it'll be waiting for her. He pulls up their messaging thread, sends the text, and his eyes wander upward to see the remnants of their last conversation.
She had gotten, and dressed, Jenner in a new bow tie. She then blew up Ethan's phone with photos of Jenner, photos of her and Jenner, and even a few where she was wearing one of Ethan's bow ties to match.
"Look, we're twins!!"
Ethan re-scrolls through all of the photos and can't help the smile that lights up his face at how excited she gets about a small accessory for his dog. God, I love her.
There it is again, Ethan thinks. The 3 words and 8 letters that he never thought he'd feel, let alone want to voice. This feeling has become overwhelming in the past few weeks. He's reminded of it whenever he inhales the lingering scent of her perfume in the office, when he finds one of her forgotten face products at his place, the small moments they share when she sneaks away to visit him, "just because." It consumes him and makes his heart swell.
But he knows she's been extremely stressed with project duties, on top of handling the Diagnostics Team and regular patients. It just doesn't seem right to blurt it out when she's juggling so many things. But if all goes well, her portion of the project ends on Thursday and she'll be back to her normal workload. That's why he's been secretly making romantic plans for this weekend, not only to celebrate her success, but to also finally tell her how he feels. He wants the first time he utters those words to her to be special. Magical. Extraordinary. Just like her.
Just then, his pager beeps and he's pulled out of his second Serena trance of the day. He sets his phone down on the table, pulls out his pager, and is met with a message from Dr. Delarosa, asking for a consult. Just as he exits through the door, his phone lights up with a photo of Serena and her incoming call.
~ 2:15pm ~
The consultation with Ines turned into admitting the patient under the Diagnostics Team and the rest of the afternoon was spent running through possible diagnoses. Before he knew it, it had been over 3 hours and Ethan hadn't eaten since breakfast that morning. He can't help but think how much easier this case would be with Serena here and her perspective. Not only does her presence help keep him calm, but she always comes up with suggestions that would inevitably lead to the correct diagnosis. He throws his glasses on the table and pinches the bridge of his nose in frustration.
He begins to stand, wanting to make his way to his desk, intending to call Serena on the off chance she picks up. However, before he's even able to reach his full height, Dr. Banerji walks in.
"My boy, are you busy?"
"No. Am I needed somewhere?"
Naveen looks at him for a beat too long, causing Ethan's confusion to spike. Naveen walks to the center table and switches on the TV. There, panning around the screen is an aerial view of the Harvard University lab complex, surrounded by police cars and SWAT members, as well as multiple aircraft. In bold letters, scrolling endlessly across the bottom of the screen is: Possible attack at Harvard University labs. On lockdown.
Ethan gawks at the screen with wide eyes and his pulse immediately picks up.
"Isn't Serena at Harvard labs today?"

The ingredients are deer meat, sea turtle eggs, fresh veggies and herbs from the garden, and lastly tons of scorpion claws! Next, fill a pot up with all your ingredients, place the top on, and let it simmer overnight! The white steam rising from it is just so mesmerizing. ...Oh! I think it's ready! Smell for a soft scent when you take the lid off. That means it's done! I can't wait to give it to grandpa.

"Rule 451: Consuming alcohol is forbidden during the daytime." And stated as the reason is: because I like drinking... Because it's anonymous, all these votes are based off selfish desires. We need to improve the system somehow that reflects public opinion.
"Rule 356: Royal inquiries are limited once per day." And stated as the reason is: because I long to be with the King more...? Could this Fyra's vote...? No. Of course not. She's not the type to be interested in love. Moving on...
"Rule 68: The King's aides are to forever serve at his side" Reason being: Thank you for all your hard work. You deserve a break once in awhile... Could this be from the King himself? I craved it. Blind violence and blood-thirsty carnage. And I found it. I finally found it. A vessel stained with anger and hatred, seeking vengeance for the murder of her parents. I possessed that woman and gave her "power." That power turned the woman into a beast. One swing of her blade was enough to cut through stone and her grazes healed in an instant. She began downing every foe before her in the name of vengeance. I was delighted to witness the fruition of my desires. The woman's destruction didn't end there. After having her revenge, she continued to exert her "power" for the sake of her friends. Along her journey, her anger and hatred showed signs of waning, however, I gave it no thought. All I desired was to continue bathing in her bloodshed. Because her body has reached its limit, her power has lost control. Still, in the midst of the clashing of blades, I could feel her desire to protect her friends. Yes, this is the violence and carnage I crave. But why is it deplorable and empty?
Devola & Popola’s Spear
Upon hearing an old lady from the village caught a cold, I immediately collected my medicinal herbs with some boiled water, and rushed out from the library. I nursed her and remained by her side until her symptoms calmed down. She was extremely grateful for it.
I read a picture book to a group of children from the village. It was of an old tale about a brave, courageous man who triumphs over evil. I watched their expressions alternated between joy to sorrow to the story's pacing. I'm glad they enjoyed it.
Devola and I performed a song for the people at the village tavern. In addition to the regulars who drank there, elders and children were part of the audience. At the end of our song, the entire crowd smiled and cheered.
Every day Devola and I have been staying late at the library thinking of a plan to make life easier for the villagers. They're indispensable "vessels" for the project, so we need to do what we can for them.
Letter to the Postman

Thanksgorging Done Right
Prepare Get the balance right! Although you’ll need to start on an empty stomach to eat as much as possible, don’t be ravenously hungry.  If you’re starving, you’ll eat too quickly and not properly pace yourself.
Avoid fasting. Follow your regular meal schedule and stop eating five hours before the main event.
Exercising earlier in the day is also a good idea, especially if you’ve eaten a breakfast meal.  Physical activity stimulates the appetite.  Taking a short, brisk walk helps move food through your digestive system and empty out your stomach in preparation.
Finally, it's easier to eat a lot if you're relaxed. So immediately before the meal, take some deep breaths, listen to some pleasant music, think calm thoughts, and avoid anything confrontational or stressful.
Now’s a good time to weigh yourself and measure around your belly.  You’re going to want some data from which to later gauge your success.
Dressing Isn’t Just a Sidedish Choose your Thanksgorging meal outfit with significant expansion in mind.  If you must wear less casual clothing, wear an undershirt under a button-up shirt in case you end up stressing or popping buttons; also, plan similarly if the pants must be dressier.  Check to see if they can be unbuttoned stealthily and your belt has notches left to be loosened. 
Ideally, you’ll be able to wear a stretchy shirt and pants with a lot of give. If your belly typically swells immensely during large extended dinners, consider choosing a shirt that will cover most of your belly for most of the meal.  A tight hem riding up like a curtain can be sexy as it bares a fat spherical curve, but can be potentially distracting to other diners.  Unbuttoning too-tight pants late in a hefty meal is nearly universally expected, especially if the button is ready to pop.
Choose Wisely
Once you’ve girded your loins for the overeating challenge, there’s nothing to do but begin. The choices you make now will determine whether you fill your stomach to maximum capacity, or give up long before dessert.
If you’re a beer drinker, try to avoid beers right off the bat. Instead, have a couple shots of 80+ proof liquor to relax and put yourself at ease.  Skip the mixer, especially if it’s carbonated, as you want to maximize the benefit of the alcohol while minimizing the volume at this point.
If there are appetizers, consider your options carefully. Certain types of food makes you feel more full than others.
An over-full feeling isn’t just caused by a stretched-to-capacity stomach. Your body also triggers feelings of fullness by releasing hormones and enzymes as you eat. For example, the more you chew, the fuller you will feel. Stick with the mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, cranberry sauce, country rolls with butter, fluffy fruit salad, and delay the majority of fats and proteins until later.  Gorging on a pile of turkey will make you feel full sooner than the easier-to-stuff carbs. You can do maximal damage with carbs because they layer nicely—you can pack in more without feeling too full.
Once you start eating protein, the secretion of enzymes and hormones starts that satiety cascade, and having fat as part of the meal triggers satiety.   Delay your consumption of fiber-rich foods like veggies and whole grains. They fill you up faster because that fiber soaks up water and takes up more room. Liquids also occupy precious stomach real estate, so don’t consume a large glass of juice or bowl of soup right away. That said, fluids will help food move through your stomach as you eat, so sip some water or other liquids throughout the meal.
Gorge Yourself The human stomach is quite stretchy -- like a big latex balloon. If you cram food and drink into it, it will expand to a maximum volume of up to four liters—the equivalent of two 2-liter bottles of soda. Once you've stuffed your stomach to capacity, the meal is over—right? Absolutely not!
As fast as you put food into it, your stomach processes that content and starts moving it into the intestines. As soon as you feel like you can’t eat another bite, lean back in your chair. Relax. Breathe in slowly through your nostrils and exhale slowly through your mouth.  Let your abdominal muscles loosen and expand to allow your stomach to push out and become as round as possible. Using both hands, rub your belly all over in slow circles, concentrating on your very full stomach.  Try to push out any belches that might be taking up precious room in your filled stomach, using a tapping or thumping technique as though your gut were a drum. If you struggle enough with massaging your bloated belly, someone at the table may offer to help you -- let them have a rub as well for good luck.
Take a Belly Break If you’ve been concentrating on simple carbohydrates, you’re in luck: The stomach can empty itself of low-fiber carbs in a mere 30 to 90 minutes.  At this point, you probably feel bloated; perhaps, a little like a tick about to pop.  You might feel like all you want is to do is curl up on the sofa, holding your stomach, and groaning. Fight that instinct and get to your feet. Part of the digestion of food is movement. If you take yourself from a sitting to a standing position, you’re going to move food more quickly and feel less uncomfortable sooner than if you just sit down. After all, you just worked hard on that belly -- it’s time to show it off! Take the pop walk slowly around the dining room, into the living room, around wherever there may be an appreciative audience.  Stop by a full-length mirror and take a lengthy look at your fullness.  The nerves around your stomach are the ones that complain to the brain about how full you are. Once your body pushes that food from your stomach into your intestines, the uncomfortably full feeling should ease up. Adding liquid will also speed up this process. Drinking will help to move things down -- instead of everything sitting there going nowhere like a traffic jam.  Go for Bust Now, get back to that table and eat. Luckily, you don’t have to wait for your stomach to empty out entirely before you go back to the buffet. Even a little reduction in food volume can help. Give yourself fifteen minutes to a half an hour to recover, and you’ll find that you’re ready to pack in more chow. Just remember that less chewing means you’ll be able to get in a larger volume of food into your stomach.  Protein like turkey sticks to your ribs for much longer: it will take closer to four hours to pass through your stomach, and no one wants to wait that long to begin eating desserts.
Keep eating. Remember to lean back, spread your thighs apart, whatever it takes to give your burgeoning belly enough space to swell. It’s during this part of Thanksgorging where you hope you’ve chosen your clothes wisely.  If all has gone according to plan, the stretchy materials should be reaching their limit around your bulging midsection, and you’ll want to consider unbuttoning that pants button (if there is one).  Concerned onlookers may begin to make comments about the size of your belly, others may poke you in the stomach to see if there is any give, and the feeders in the group will be encouraging you to pack in another plateful.
Getting Fed If someone at the table wants to feed you on top of your already stretched-to-the-very-limit belly, then take a belly break before they break your belly. Get your fattened self up and do your best to wobble about for at least fifteen minutes if you left the table at the point where swallowing a whole mouthful of food became a time-consuming process. Once again, try to avoid laying down for any length of time, especially on the floor and on your back as you’ll be extremely vulnerable to being popped by those who could trip and fall onto your overstuffed belly.  Do not bounce anything heavy on top of an overfull stomach as it may burst from the compression.
Once back at the table, determine the safe word to be used so that the feeder knows when to stop stuffing you, then allow the feeder to shovel food into your mouth at your mutual pleasure. Choices such as “pop”, “burst”, “explode” are not recommended.  Use something like “diet” to communicate that the belly has attained maximum safe stretch and cannot accommodate the slightest bit more filling. 
Top it Off in Grand Style Wait one half hour after you’ve last shoveled dinner food in and then drink a small glass of warm water (at least room temperature and definitely not cold).  Slightly warm water helps break down food in the stomach and aids digestion. Now, begin the dessert stage of the meal.  Glucose (sugar) stimulates the relaxation reflex, and pressure on the stomach will be decreased, reducing the sensation of fullness.  A sweet dessert will allow the stomach to make room for more food, and you’ll be able to tackle several slices of your favorite pies.  Remember, they’re only good when they’re fresh, and you’ve earned rewarding yourself with as much pie as will fit in your stomach. Measure and Weigh At this point, you should find a scale and a tape measure to record the meal’s highlights.  After all, you need to know what goals you’re going to set for Christmas.
