Request Guidelines
Please make sure to attentively read all of the rules, as well as my disclaimers before submitting a request.
Please keep in mind that I tend to ignore vague requests, so don’t be afraid to give me details!
Tumblr media
⚠️ Disclaimers
• There may be spoilers for the series/games that I’ll be writing for.
• Some characters will be aged up. If you’re against aged up content, let’s kindly agree to disagree. Filling my inbox with hate is not appropriate, and you’re more than welcome to block me if my content doesn’t resonate with you. There are, however, some characters that I’ll still only write in a platonic manner. (Ex: Luke from Obey Me, and Ortho from Twisted Wonderland).
• I have the right to turn down a request if it goes against the rules I've set up, makes me uncomfortable, does not inspire me or if I feel that I'm not knowledgeable enough on the subject presented in the request.
• Please do not repost or claim any of my work to another website. I cross-post between Tumblr, Wattpad and Ao3, and you can find all of my links in my bio. However, if you do see someone reposting my work, please notify me. Thank you! Inspiration is okay, plagiarism is not.
• I have a zero patience policy with people who pester me to hurry up with writing their request. Know that behind the words, there's a human being with a regular job, a home business, housework, a family and other hobbies.
• I tend to write with a more mature audience in mind. That being said, adult topics, 18+ content and potentially triggering topics may be delved into. Each story comes with its summary, tags and warnings, so please read accordingly and you use your judgement. You are responsible for the content you consume, not me. No worries, however, plenty of Rated E stories will be up.

💕Available Fandoms
The list is subject to change. Some fandoms may be added, and some may be removed if I fall out of them. Announcements will be posted if a new fandom is added or if I’m redacting one.
• Obey Me! • Twisted Wonderland
• Hazbin Hotel
• Helluva Boss
Tumblr media
✔️I Will Do
• Female!Reader OR GN!Reader - My preference and default lies with a female point of view. I do write using you/your pronouns, so nearly all of my stuff can be read as GN by default unless explicitly stated that the reader character is female.
• Romantic Relationships - Self-explanatory.
• Platonic Relationships - Self-explanatory.
• AUs - I'm open to any AU suggestion you may have. Soulmate AUs, for example, should be specified what type of gimmick you'd like, as there are a lot out there.
•Song-Based Stories - I won't write a songfic as I don't find those appealing. I'm not a fan of padding a story with lyrics. However, music can be a huge inspiration, so if you have a song you'd like a story built around, let me know. Note that I may ignore your request if the song doesn't get the creative juices flowing for me.
• Angst, Fluff, Hurt/Comfort, etc - I'm open to pretty much any genre.
• Poly Relationships - I’m not the best at portraying them, but I’ll do my best!
• NSFW - Smut is very much allowed on this blog. I'm very open to many things when it comes to smut, so it'd be easier to just tell you what I won't do for smut in the following section. Requesting smut should be treated the same way as a SFW piece, so give me details. Location? Any particular events leading to the smut? Any particular kinks?
• Crossovers - If you would like the reader character to be based off of another video game or anime character/universe, I’m down! Example: An MC that has Katsuki Bakugou’s quirk, or an MC that has pokémon.
• Non-human!Reader - If you’d like the reader to be not fully human, go ahead! Vampire? Demigod? Kemonomimi?? Part dragon?! The list is endless, so go wild!
Tumblr media
❌ I Will Not Do
• Male!Reader - This is not meant to be discriminatory in any way; I'm just not very comfortable or good at writing a Male!Reader point of view.
• OCs or Canon X Canon - If you’ve been reading, you can see that this is a reader insert blog.
• Yandere - I know that yanderes are popular in the fandom, but I cannot bring myself to write that particular dere archetype. I can't put into words my disdain for the archetype.
• Non-Con - I'm not really into writing dark content for reader inserts. Note that this rule is for some form of graphic non-con depiction or fetishization. If your request is along the lines of X Character with an S/O that's an assault survivor, then that's fine. In other words, I don't want to fetishize non-con.
• Underage Romance or NSFW - Self-explanatory
• Incest - No.
• Hardcore Gore - Self-Explanatory. Blood and violence is fine in itself. I'm just asking to not cross the boundaries of gore porn, ya know?
• Certain Fetishes:
~Emetophilia
~ Scatophilia
~ Vore
~ Inflation
~ Feeding
~ Stuffing
~ Necrophilia
~ Non-consensual sex
~ CNC (I might? Depends on my mood)
~ Piss
~ Foot fetish
~ Pet play
~ Ageplay (I can let the term 'Daddy' slide, though I'm not fond of it. I just don't want to write characters acting like children in a sexual scenario.)
(Note that there may be more added to the list later on. These are the ones I could think off the top of my head.)

Asks/Headcanons/Stories
Rules, Details and Other Important Information
Updated May 22nd, 2021
Status: Currently NOT accepting requests / asks
See my Masterlist here!
***The ask box will be closed within a couple days of the updated post date (April 30th). It will be closed for a couple of weeks while I bring my request count down (it’s reached over 30 requests) and due to my schedule limiting how much time I can spend writing. Any new asks I receive will be immediately posted stating the box is closed (although I’m still open to receiving comments and other questions via ask box).
How long for an answer: About a month depending on how much work will go into it, my askbox is quiet as of late but I have many that I’m working on currently. I have almost 20 drafts and a nearly equal amount of untouched requests in my ask box.
(Rules under the cut)
Hello! If you’ve reached this post you may be interested in asking/requesting something - go ahead and do so! Just make sure you keep in mind the information I list here because if an ask/request is outside my rules I probably won’t write it (there may be some exceptions heavily depending on certain factors). Therefore, please read everything (even if it’s just skimming) so you get a basic idea of what to expect from me.
The only fandom I write for is Eldarya, if you couldn’t tell by my posts lol.
Who do I write for? (Romantically)
Primarily Lance, he’s the only route I follow on my two accounts and I’ve spent a lot of personal time nit-picking and analyzing his character so I’d say I have a thorough understanding of who he is and how to write him.
I'm second most comfortable writing Valkyon, he was my route in Origins. Even though Origins is past now, I'm still happy to write about him
I’m not very interested in the other routes, but I have a general idea of what they’re like, so I’ll write for Leiftan and Nevra, too (although what I write differs. I’ll always write friendly or fluffy relationship stuff, but I draw the line around in-depth, intimate asks. I don’t know them too well so I don’t mind writing semi-vague things about them, but they won’t be very specific). I’m more comfortable writing Leiftan than Nevra overall.
I won’t write for Mathieu as I don’t know him well enough, he seems to be a pretty basic character but I doubt that’s the case so I don’t want to write something I know will likely be nowhere near relevant to who he is.
I may write for Koori, but not as of right now; I’ll update this if I decide to do so later when I know her better.
Other than what’s detailed here, I won’t write romantically for any other characters.
Have a request that’s not romantic? Awesome, I’ll write general headcanons for any of the characters.
General headcanons basically means anything not too intimate (or an ask that covers many different topics, but that's besides the point right now), I’ll write friendly requests, but not romantic ones. Have a request that seems to walk the fine line between friendship and a platonic / fluffy relationship? Go ahead and ask anyways, I may write it and even it I don’t, it helps provide an example of what I will or won’t write.
I'm happy to write any characters as Origins instead of New Era, just be sure to specify in your ask.
What do I write? (I will add warnings for NSFW and certain angst or violence prompts and how heavy it is in the writing)
Nearly anything, really
Romance
NSFW
Friendships/friendly fun stuff
Angst
Violence
A lot of others
There may be some things I’m not thinking of currently, but again, I’ll write pretty much anything (and I’ll keep updating this list in time)
That being said, I’m comfortable writing some genres with some characters and others not so much. But again, if unsure, ask anyways.
What DON’T I write?
Non-con (no consent)
Yandere
Suicide (I’ll write how it effects others, but I won’t write the specifics on how an actual character does it)
How to specify your ask:
So I’m a very specific person, and I can go on very long rants; just take this headcanon and this second one as an example. However, I know some people prefer small and short, so I’m asking that in your request/ask you specify which type of writing you want so I’m not constantly thinking ‘oh try and keep it short - but maybe one more bullet - oh god how did this get so long? - m a y b e   I   s h o u l d   j u s t   w r i t e   t h i s   a s   a   s c e n a r i o  - did they want headcanons or a scenario/short story?’ Don’t care about how long my response to your ask is? Cool, don’t worry about specifying length, just send your ask (but seriously, be prepared for something close to a novel lol).
In order of shortest to longest:
Mini-headcanons - Usually the fastest to write - Not as ‘mini’ as you may think. It’s not entirely short, I’ll still put in my fair share of thoughts, but I won’t go on major rants about one thing during the ask. It’s a very straightforward / to the point ask. Not interested in possibly reading an essay on why I think this is this and how I feel this effected this person? This is pretty good for you then.
Normal headcanons / headcanons (otherwise known as medium or long headcanons) - Writing time can differ based on how much I rant, but will usually take longer than mini-headcanons - Are you ok if you end up reading a small novella or a post with so many words it rivals a dictionary? Awesome, this is the type for you! Depending on the ask, I can’t promise that I’ll go on major rants that take centuries to write, but it gives me the freedom to specify and clarify things, while also adding in a few of personal comments. This type of ask really allows me to be creative and provide examples or special situations with the characters.
Scenarios / short stories - Will most likely take longer than both types of headcanons - This type of response doesn’t take place in bullets. It’s exactly as it says - a story. I won’t include my personal opinions / theories in this as stories are a narrative, not an analysis for me. This type is a bit restrictive for me as I will press myself to stay as close to canon as possible, improvising my own theories / headcanons only when necessary to bridge aspects within the story (unless otherwise specified in the ask), but other than that I don’t like to intrude my own thoughts / theories in a story. Good for readers who want drama, descriptions, scenarios, or who feel headcanons just won’t fit the ask this time. These are typically a couple hundred words long for me.
Like mentioned above - if you don’t care about how it’s formatted, don’t worry about specifying anything or just add in the ask that you’re flexible to any format. In this case, I’ll choose what format to write in based on what I feel can fit best the ask while being written well. My default is usually headcanons, though.
Other important information:
This’ll be updated more in time
Have any specific details you want about the ask? Be sure to mention it!
I’m fine with writing asks with gender-neutral characters and such. Writing the S/O’s and reader-inserts are female by default for me, but I have nothing against writing different gender alignments
Writing takes time, especially since I try my best to write quality on every ask. It will usually take me no longer than 5 days to a week to write nearly anything, however, if my ask box is busy or there’s a particularly long request that I’m writing, it could take me within 2 to 3 weeks to write some things. I’ll try to keep it first-come-first-serve, but as some asks may be shorter than others, or I’m feeling a bit more productive on certain asks than others, response time may change a bit. I’ll keep a general idea on how long to expect a response post underneath the status listed at the top of this post
I will write for OC's (original characters)! If you're comfortable with it, I would recommend you send these asks not anonymously; I'll probably DM you to get more information. Otherwise, be sure to DM me saying what your ask was so I can connect the details you give me with the specific ask. I don't mind receiving some details via Anon ask, but it would greatly restrict me if I can't clarify some things so I can write better. That being said; if you would like your ask to be anonymous but need to DM me for details, I promise I'll keep your identity a secret. It's none of my business why you wanted to send anonymously, so I won't go revealing anything.
I have a tendency to swear, but only to stress points humorously or sexually. It’s really only to add to the tone of the story. However, if you’d like to request no swearing specifically then I’ll honor that.
With that: go ahead and ask! I always look forward to writing my next request!
Over all, I’ll write nearly anything, and if you’re unsure, just ask anyways and I’ll clarify if I’ll write it or not. And the more specific you are in your ask; the better I can write it (with reason, of course. Too much limitation will hinder).
Have a request? Ask them here!

hey do you have any advice on getting started in the rp community? feel free not to answer if you don’t want to!
Buckle up, because I have a lot to say about this! I had to figure most of this out on my own, so I tried to be as thorough as possible. Feel free to skip over things you already know!
So you want to join Tumblr RP?
Hey, welcome!
The Tumblr RP community can seem hellaciously complicated, but it's really not. Sure, there are a few basics that most people expect, but after that, there are tons of people out there to talk to and interact with! Some are friendly and open, and some are more reserved and restricted. That being said, here's some basic terms and styles you'll run into!
"Muse" is just another word people use to refer to their characters. They can be an "OC" or original character, or a "Canon" character from a TV or book series you enjoy. They can even be "Canon Divergent," where you don't follow or even change canon events in your writing, or "Genderbent," where you play them as a different gender.
"Mun" refers to the person behind the muse. When you speak "OOC," out of character, people will know you're talking and not the muse.
"Multimuse" is a blog where people have more than one muse to choose from.
"Multiship" is a blog where the muses can have more than one (usually romantic) relationship with various other characters. These all happen independently of other relationships, each in their own separate little universe. Speaking of-
"Multiverse" is when a muse can have various things happening in a RP, but it doesn't effect at all any other RP they have with different partners.
A "Thread" is the ongoing RP. Whatever you're reblogging and responding to, that is the thread.
There's different writing styles, too!
"One-liners" are very short responses to a thread, usually one or two sentences long. This is especially good for "crack" threads, which are more comedic, random, meaningless threads for fun.
"Single Para" is when the response is usually about a paragraph or so long.
"Multi Para" is multiple paragraphs in a response.
"Novella." Gods save the novella writers, for it is an amazing skill. They usually write a few thousand words into their responses. If you like writing a ton of stuff, like you're writing a book, this one is for you.
Then, there's selectivity!
"Nonselective" writers are more open to a bunch of different partners. They don't have a strict criteria for who they want to write with. That being said, they do refuse to write with people from time to time if it's not working, which is okay.
"Semi-selective" people have a few more criteria they're looking for when they RP with someone, but they're still fairly open.
"Selective" and "Highly Selective" people have several criteria they want met when writing. What exactly can vary from person to person, but they're generally more choosy than others. Disclaimer: you might hear them called cliquey, elitist, and snobby. That's not true. Sure, some people are, but most are just looking for a writing style they can work with more easily, or they don't have a lot of time and want to spend it with people they know they'll enjoy writing with. Maybe they had bad experiences and want to protect themselves. It can be any number of things.
"Mutuals Only" or "Private" blogs want you to be following them, and them to be following you.
One more thing:
"Indie" blogs are blogs with muses that have no fandom. OCs are usually found here.
"Group RP" are RPs in a set universe, usually with characters premade that you can choose from. These groups usually RP within the group only.
"Crossovers" are when you want to mix fandoms. Want to take Superman and stick him in Gravity Falls or with The Doctor? You want a crossover!
Okay, now that that's out of the way, let's really get started.
First Things First
First, you need a blog. I know, I know, it sounds obvious, but it's important to have your RP on a separate blog from your normal one. If you want to post memes or politics and discourse all day, by all means, go for it. Some people are just here to RP and get away from the world for awhile, though, and don't want to see those things. The solution, then, is to have two blogs.
You can make a sideblog to your main one and RP there. Just let people know you'll follow them from your main blog, if that's what you want to do. Or, you can have a totally separate main blog. It's up to you.
Now, some people say you need a big, fancy blog theme to go with it. I'm going to go on record to say you don't necessarily. I use Tumblr Default, and it never held me back. That being said, if you want to have a fun, creative theme, there's plenty to choose from! Just do a quick Google search and find what's right for you! Make sure, though, you can make at least 2 separate pages on it, and give credit to the one who took the time to make it. I also recommend it have text that contrasts with the background and is large enough to read, just so people don't have to squint.
At this point, it might not hurt to think about tags. What will you tag your normal RPs? The memes you reblog? Your OOC posts? What organizing tags will you use to make sure people can find things easily?
Next, you need a "Rules" page and an "About" page!
Your Rules are what you expect from a RP partner. You can describe yourself a bit and explain things here. For example, say violence is a topic you want to avoid in an RP; you can note things like that here. Let's say your muse is a villain, and you refuse to make them kind because it's out of character for them; let people know. You can also mention how selective you are, how much time it might take for you to get to threads, how best to contact you, and so on. If you want to plot a thread out or just jump in, let people know. This is where you let people know what to expect, and what you expect from them.
The About page is one of the most important things you can have. It's where you describe your muse. Tell people their background, their appearance, their personality, so on. I like to look up character sheets and fill those out. Even if they're a canon muse, it's important to summarize them where people can reference, especially if they're canon divergent.
These two are requirements for most people to RP with you. You can put them on separate Tumblr pages, Google Docs, a post on the blog itself, whatever. So long as you have links where people can find them easily, it's up to you where you put them.
Jumping In
Okay, that's the technical stuff out of the way. Now, we get to the good part: actual RP.
Finding partners is an active process. People aren't just going to roll in. You have to put yourself out there, I'm afraid. However, it's not as scary as it sounds.
My personal technique for finding people is to go into the tags to look. "Open RP" and "Open Starter" are generally the first ones I check. People post RPs you can respond to here. Make sure you check their rules and about pages first. After that, jump in! A lot of them might not be a permanent RP partner, but that's okay! If you're tenacious enough, you'll gather a few people after awhile.
If you're in a fandom, then use that tag to search for people. "(Fandom) RP" will be where you hunt for those.
"Group RP" tags have group advertising. If you want to join a group, here's where you'll find a bunch. They have their own rules and characters, so be sure to check out their stuff before you ask to join in!
Another thing you will see is RP promos. These are basically advertising a blog and its characters. It can help pique your interest, or if you make one, it can pique the interest of others. With these, you can always follow the blog and see how to best contact them, either through an ask or an IM, to ask if they want to RP. The worst they can say is no, after all. You'll never know until you try.
If you want to post things in the tags yourself, you'll need to wait a bit for Tumblr to acknowledge your blog - about a week - then post away! You can make your own open starters or RP promos to try and draw people in. Canon characters tend to draw in more people than OCs, but don't let that discourage you!
After all of that, it's just a patience thing. For example, I've been here for years, yet only have about 10 people who RP with me. Others get hundreds of people following them. What matters is that you enjoy writing with the people that want to write with you. It'll take some time to find those, but they're out there if you look. You might even make some new good friends. Who knows?
Okay, I rambled a bit, but I think I covered most everything. If anyone has something to add or more questions, feel free to respond to this!

What the Pic?
Participants: @ariasfandom, @rebelmeg, @wolfnprey, @ladydarkphoenix-blog, @bookdragon13, @liquidlightz, @jeminamoonnight, @caiti-creative-corner, @ribbonsflyingoutthewindow, @ibelieveinturtles
Tumblr media
@ariasfandom - Bucky started watching Oobi and wanted to make an OC of it
@rebelmeg - all sam wanted to do was sleep in.  that was it, that was all he wanted out of a saturday.  which, of course, was the first thing his annoying houseguest decided to ruin, with a fist in his face at the crack of dawn.  a fist wearing googly eyes.  "bucky, what the hell?"
@wolfnprey - This is the default picture Clint sends out when he's judging. Bucky retaliates by posting his own in the vents and hides Clint's arrows.
@ladydarkphoenix-blog - Bucky gets caught watching kids(Sam's nephews, Clint's kids, insert kids here} unaware but has no idea how to entertain them so somehow ends up telling stories with his hands playing characters that are surprisingly effective
@bookdragon13 - Bucky gets drunk on Asgardian mead and thinks it’d be hilarious to put googly eyes on his metal hand and make it talk for him the rest of the night
@liquidlightz - Being an Eldritch deity apparently wasn't as awe inspiring as he'd always assumed himself to be, given that his host was entirely un-phased and thought it was funny to make puppet hands out of him and make up silly stories.  The fact that he found this insult highly entertaining was even worse for his ego.
Keep reading for more!
Tumblr media
@bookdragon13 - Bucky buys that for Clint after staying with him for a couple days. Clint absolutely loves it Of course
@rebelmeg - "likl.  likl?!  who approved that?  how did that make it to store shelves!  this is a disgrace!" "bucky, you really need to calm down." "i'll calm down when that travesty is removed from my sight!" going shopping with bucky is never boring.
@ladydarkphoenix-blog - Bought as a gift for himself because Bucky found the misspelling hilarious and it would bug the most important of his guests by making them guess if he didn't notice that little detail or what was happening in his head. Watching them try to deal with it gives Bucky much joy
@wolfnprey - The group stares, unimpressed, as people in the gallery move around them. Nat and Tony insist that the artist is just fucking with people, while Sam and Clint argue over how deep the meaning is. Bucky takes one look at Steve and knows his friend is dying a bit inside at how low art has stooped in the modern age. Bucky's nice enough not to comment that it's made out of a damn shower rug.
@ariasfandom - "Bucky, we live together. I know for a fact you didn't "wake up like this"
@liquidlightz - In the morning, his boyfriend told him how beautiful he looked, and how amazing his hair was, despite having mussed it all up during their passionate evening before.  Apparently Bucky didn't suffer from bed hair but from magically self-smoothing hair.  Ok, so maybe he used his magiks a little to keep it looking so good, what was the harm in that.  So when Bucky saw this in a store he just had to get it and put it by the foot of his bed.
Tumblr media
@ladydarkphoenix-blog - Bucky never thought he'd be turned into a dog. He also never thought he'd be staying with Clint and his dog or that the kids in the building would try to disguise him like this
@rebelmeg - bucky wasn't sure to think when he opened his door one morning to find a dog on the step wearing graucho glasses.  he also wasn't sure if he should trust the note tied to the dog's collar that said, "pet me, i'm yours."  but either way, the spaniel was pretty cute, and it turned out to be a snuggler.  worst things could happen.
@ribbonsflyingoutthewindow - If you're going to name your dog Professor Diggory and you're going to ask Bucky to dogsit him, you should be prepared for the fact that Bucky’s going to accidentally make him an internet celebrity. Groucho glasses and the ability to pose very still for a picture while Bucky holds a pretzel between his lips is the easiest way to have a booming Instagram account in under a week. Bucky and Professor Diggory are practically professionals now. Don't be jealous.
Tumblr media
@rebelmeg - it has happened every time.  every single time he goes to the mcdonald's closest to his house, they manage to mess up his order somehow.  actually, he's starting to suspect it's on purpose.  there had definitely been a smirk on the guy's face when he handed bucky his order through the window.  that might explain why his request for a cheeseburger with just ketchup had nothing but ketchup between the buns.  hmm.  this might mean war.
@ibelieveinturtles - Sick of working long hours at minimum wage, dealing with shitty customers amd an even shittier manager, Bucky decides its time to try that malicious compliance thing.
@ladydarkphoenix-blog - What's happened to customer service?!?! Back in his day if you made a simple request for a burger with only ketchup the kitchen was smart enough to know what you meant. Were they messing with him? Can they not figure out what a simple order meant? Bucky sighed and shook his head. He'd had worse dinners
@ribbonsflyingoutthewindow - So Steve's got a fuckton of allergies and quite frankly, Bucky doesn't even know what they all are, so telling the person at the drive thru that Steve wanted "a McDouble with just ketchup" was a precautionary action. He thought because he knew Steve was allergic to onions and dairy and mustard that it was safer to ask for only ketchup (probably Steve's only known safe-listed condiment) and potentially not be the one to accidentally murder a man he cared deeply about. But seeing Steve later open the hamburger bun to reveal a bun with a single squirt of ketchup inside made Bucky literally faceplant into his car horn. That was not what he fucking meant.
Tumblr media
@rebelmeg - swaying gently in the tropical breeze that smelled like ocean and flowers, bucky smiled to himself.  he was staring up at the clouds and palm trees overhead, his hammock creaking just slightly.  off to his right, his favorite person in the world was sprawled on a towel on the sand, soaking in the sun and drinking some kind of fancy umbrella drink with a silly straw.  best vacation ever.
@ladydarkphoenix-blog - Steve made jumping out of planes seem so easy. He never needed a parachute, never seemed to have the aches and pains after. With a sigh, Bucky stared up at the sky. At least he had a good view.
@ribbonsflyingoutthewindow - Pic Summary:When Bucky, Sam, and Natasha agreed to share an AirBnB for their Hollywood vacation, they'd only planned to see some famous sights and maybe try to pose with someone as famous as the monkey from the Pirates of the Caribbean films. Then they'd discovered that arguably the two hottest actors in the entire film industry, Tony Stark and Steve Rogers, were sharing the house next door! Overnight it became a bet and then a high stakes fight to the (okay, not actual) death to see which of them could meet one of the two actors first. Bucky hadn't exactly been spying while he was standing hidden behind an open gate on their temporary neighbor's property, but he must have been well hidden anyway because the moment he went to run and hide, a sleek convertible pulled out of the drive and directly into a fleeing Bucky. He kind of hates that his first thought upon opening his eyes and looking up to see only trees and a cloudy blue sky above him was that at least he'd probably won the bet.

Vegeta had never driven a car before, but he figured that it couldn’t be that hard.
To him, earthlings were so simple and so was their technology. The only inventions he had been impressed with was technology that came from the doors of Capsule Corp.
He thumbed over the keychain Milla handed him. There must be at least 10 keys on this tiny loop- he rolled his eyes at the concept.
“Why can’t they just make one key for their specific needs instead of 10 individual keys that can so easily be replicated,” Vegeta thought.
Vegeta looked ahead and saw the VW logo on the steering wheel and recognized it from one of the keys.
“They must connect somehow-“ Vegeta said to himself with a furrowed brow.
He leaned to look around each side of the steering wheel.
Vegeta spotted the keyhole and a slight smirk grew over his face. He placed the key with the VW logo into the car and turned it like a lock. The car engine hummed, ready to go.
Milla shifted and awoke to the sound of the engine starting.
She blinked a few times to focus her vision and saw Vegeta looking at the controls, figuring out what each one was supposed to do.
He had driven many ships before, but not one that operated in the same way as a car. Vegeta would always make sure that he had control over the situation and the machinery before he would take off in most cases. The control is what was important to him.
“Vegeta-,” Milla spoke with her eyes still closed, breaking the silence.
Vegeta froze for a brief moment. There was something about the quiet uttering of his name coming from her lips that caught him. Almost as quickly as he had frozen from her voice, he brushed it off as though it didn’t affect him. He didn’t want her to see him stop, not that Milla would in her current state.
“Hm?” Vegeta looked turned to Milla for a brief moment, waiting for her to speak.
Milla fluttered her eyes open and turned her head to face Vegeta.
“Have you never driven a Volkswagen before? The brakes are a little sensitive but that’s all you should worry about,” Milla said as she squinted her eyes a little to try to make out the emotions on Vegeta’s face. Her vision was too blurry to tell exactly what he was doing.
“Quiet,” Vegeta said. “It would be smart for you to rest before you worsen your current state.”
Milla gave a lazy thumbs up and closed her eyes again.
Vegeta reversed the car and slowly pulled out of the parking space, attempting to straighten the car from the crooked position it was parked in.
“Could you have parked this car any more sideways?” Vegeta said, not expecting a reply.
“I’m not good at it. I usually park far away, but this was the only space,” Milla said, keeping her eyes closed this time.
“Pft. Pathetic.”
“You better be glad that I’m out of commission or I’d-,” Milla started.
“Or you would do what, exactly?” Vegeta said, “Burn me with your words? Oh, I’m so afraid,” Vegeta chuckled, amused at Milla’s attempt at a threat.
“I’d still put you in your place,” Milla shrugged.
“You’ve said plenty. I told you to stop straining what little energy you have left. Where is your phone?” Vegeta said, stopping at an intersection and placing his hand out.
“Dude, I’m not going to give you my phone. If you need to know where you’re going use your own and I’ll give you the address.”
“Ugh,” Vegeta rolled his eyes. “You must enjoy making things difficult.”
Vegeta reached into his pocket and tossed his phone into Milla’s lap.
“Type it in.” Vegeta stated. “Quickly.”
Milla pressed the button on the side of Vegeta’s phone and the screen came to life. Of course he would be the kind of guy to leave the screensaver on default.
“Password?” Milla asked.
“123456.” Vegeta replied.
“Creative.” Milla responded.
“I didn’t ask for your input,” Vegeta stated. “I said quickly so that I know where I’m going.”
Milla found the GPS app on the front page of the apps and typed in her address. She handed the phone back to Vegeta by placing it in his lap.
“Hmmm... I wonder,” Milla giggled.
“Silence, woman!” Vegeta snapped.
“I wonder,” Milla persisted, slurring a little as she talked. “Why can Goku just zap us there and you can’t?”
Milla remembered Bulma telling her about Vegeta’s constant competition with Goku. She said this specifically to agitate him.
“I suggest you stop talking and tend to things that are actually relevant to you,” Vegeta growled, clearly frustrated.
Milla ignored Vegeta and traced her finger around the lines that his tricep and bicep muscles made through his long sleeved thermal shirt. He tensed slightly under her touch and wondered how she could be so casual despite his lack of reception.
“Is this not it?” Vegeta asked, placing the car into park, trying to avoid looking directly at Milla who was still entranced by his arm.
Milla perked up and looked around.
“Yea this is it. Thank you.” Milla rubbed her eyes with the front of her wrists sleepily. Her eyeliner and mascara smeared slightly around her dark eyes.
“I will walk you to your apartment.” Vegeta stated, taking the keys out of the car and promptly stepping out.
He walked around to the passengers side and opened the door once again and offered his hand to Milla with no words.
“Hey, I’m really thankful you got me here, but really- I’m good now,” Milla said, turning her legs so her feet sat on the pavement.
“Tch,” Vegeta said, not moving his hand. “You can waste my time as we sit here or I can take you inside. There is no third option.”
Milla allowed her eyes to roam her surroundings. It was completely black out, minus the street lights and the fluorescent lights leading to each apartment. Her legs felt like jelly and her stomach was turning.
She pushed each long sleeve up onto her elbows, revealing the tattoos that sprinkled across her forearms.
Milla reluctantly placed her hand in his, wondering if she was making the right decision. She wasn’t the kind of person to let strange men in her house when she wasn’t completely sober. Goku was a stretch- but he was so innocent and kind. Milla could only hope Vegeta would offer her his own version of that same kindness.
Vegeta squeezed her hand and hoisted her out of the Jetta.
He was thankful that she gave in. Despite not wanting to waste his own time, it was important to him that he was the one to guard her in a vulnerable state; not Kakarot.
Vegeta questioned why he had suddenly developed this desire to be near Milla; to ensure her safety in a time like this. The sexual attraction was clear to him. If wanted to have intercourse with her he would have already. This was a more intimate need growing within him- one he was not comfortable with.
He had only met her a handful of times at this point, mostly short interactions. Each time they interacted Vegeta saw Milla’s fire and quick wit. She was so small, not any taller than Krillin, but she had the attitude of someone triple her size. This both infuriated Vegeta and intrigued him. The intrigue coupled with the fact that he was, in fact, attracted to her gave him enough motivation to pursue her. At least for the time being.
Milla stumbled a little bit as she took her first couple of steps after sitting in the car for a half an hour. She landed directly into Vegeta’s chest and relaxed into him for a second. When she realized what she was doing, she parted herself and allowed them both some space.
“How cliche,” she laughed.
Vegeta looked up and exhaled sharply. “Where is your apartment?”
“Over to the left. 134,” Milla said while pointing towards her first floor home.
Vegeta took Milla’s hand and slung her arm over his shoulder to stabilize her. They walked in silence until they arrived at her door.
“Oof,” Milla said as Vegeta dug her keys out of his pocket.
“What?” Vegeta asked while unlocking her door.
“Second night in a row I’ve had to have a man I barely know take me home. Responsible, huh” Milla laughed.
He ignored her comments and flicked the light switch in the entrance of her apartment. He walked into the apartment, leaving Milla at the doorstep.
“Uh, hello? Welcome in, I guess?” Milla said
“You shouldn’t be so nonchalant about your safety,” Vegeta said.
He walked across her kitchen, opening cabinets and drawers.
Milla plopped into a seat at her kitchen table.
“Says the guy I’ve only met three times who invited himself into my home. So sweet of you to worry about my safety as you invade my kitchen,” Milla said, untying her shirt so that it went from revealing her midriff to swallowing her small frame.
“What are you doing anyways?”
“You barely ate,” Vegeta said, grabbing a pan from a low cabinet. “That’s half of the reason the alcohol had such an effect on you. You’re too puny to consume like that and expect it to present no challenges.”
His voice showed irritation, but Milla could see it as a facade for his concern.
Vegeta lit the gas stove underneath the pot of water and grabbed a glass. He filled it with water and sat it in front of her.
“Drink.” Vegeta said.
“Okay, can I at least go put something more comfortable on first?”
“Can you even walk on your own?” Vegeta said with an eyebrow raised.
“Doesn’t matter, I’ll figure it out,” Milla said, lifting herself out of the wooden chair. “Last thing I need is you in the room creeping on me while I get undressed.”
“I-I wouldn’t-,” Vegeta started, struggling for a response.
“It’s okay bud, don’t have to get all flustered,” Milla chuckled, patting Vegeta on the shoulder. She staggered past him and down the hallway to her room.
Vegeta took a moment to re-establish his ego and walked over to the stove. He turned towards the pantry to pull out the box of pasta shells he had seen. Vegeta stood with his arms crossed, trying to figure out where the shells were hiding.
“Ah, next to the diabetes cereal,” he snarked. “How could I have missed it.”
He moved back towards the stove, but stopped in his tracks. On the counter next to the pot of a boiling water was a large tuxedo cat, staring directly at him.
“Can I help you?” Vegeta stared back at the cat, waiting for it to leave.
The cat sat, unwavering, refusing to break eye contact with the stubborn man in front of him. It was almost as if they were in a battle of willpower; but who would break first?
“Ugh, stupid cat! Stop looking at me!” Vegeta snapped.
The cat failed to break eye contact with the Saiyan, seemingly unphased.
“Hmpf,” Vegeta chuckled. “Lacking a few brain cells are we?”
Vegeta approached the cat and snapped his fingers around his face, trying to produce a reaction.
“Hello?” Vegeta placed his face in front of the cat, who continued to follow Vegeta with his eyes, “ANYONE HOME?”
The cat finally broke eye contact with Vegeta and hopped down from the counter, landing with a large thump.
Vegeta turned his nose up, enjoying his win against the fat feline.
“FUCK!” Vegeta responded to the pain coursing through this left ankle. He looked down to see the cat with his fangs gripping into his lower leg. Before Vegeta could blast the cat, he ran and disappeared as quickly as he had appeared.
“You ok?” Milla said, shuffling down the hallway in slippers and an oversized pink t shirt with the words, ‘there goes my last fuck’ printed across the front.
“That blasted obese animal bit into my leg,” Vegeta growled. His rage quelled slightly when he looked down at her with her hair disheveled and makeup smeared. She was smiling at him, almost laughing.
“So I’m guessing you met Chomps.” Milla said, holding back her laughter.
“I don’t know what you find so hilarious, but I see now why you were bleeding that day. Maybe you should find another one that’s not defective.” He said as he turned to dump the entire box of pasta into the water.
“He’s not defective, he’s just hungry,” Milla said. She pulled the cat's cup out of the food cabinet and portioned the right amount before pouring it into a bowl. Chomps scurried at the speed of light to the bowl.
Milla shuffled from the cat’s bowl to behind Vegeta. She pressed her palms on top of his shoulders and tried to peer around him.
“How much pasta are you making?” Milla said, smirking.
Vegeta tensed up, surprised by her lack of boundaries.
“Enough.” He turned to look at her. “God, do you not even have the decency to wear pants?”
Milla shrugged and walked to her couch. “It’s not any different than a dress.” She pulled the throw blanket that she was tucked into the night before back over her.
“Wake me up when the food is ready.” Milla said before curling up against the couch cushions and closing her eyes.
Vegeta waited until the pasta appeared soft and drained the extra fluid into the sink. He wasn’t really accustomed to making a proper meal for anyone, so he didn’t even think about sauce. He added a pad of butter and some salt, but didn’t worry about anything else.
Vegeta picked the first bowl he could find and pushed half of the shells into it. He left the rest in the pot and walked to the couch to hand the bowl and the glass of water he had poured earlier to Milla.
He saw her, completely asleep and curled up against the couch. Her small feet peeked out of the blanket with her slippers still on. Brown, thick hair covered most of her face and her mouth hung slightly open as she breathed quick, shallow breaths. Her tattooed arms hugged the blanket close to her chest.
Vegeta knew Milla had told him to wake her up, but he couldn’t bring himself to it. She was quieter this way and it was more beneficial for her to rest at this point.
He sat the bowl and the glass down on the coffee table in front of the couch and crouched down to the level of where Milla was laying. Her back was facing him but he allowed himself to watch her breathing for a moment. Vegeta tried talking himself into the idea that he was watching her to make sure she was still alive, but deep down he knew it was because he wanted to be close to her.
Vegeta stood up and took the bowl with him back to the kitchen. He placed the rest of the pasta in a bowl, wrapped it with Saran Wrap, and wrote ‘Milla’ on the wrap in black sharpie.
After placing the bowl in the fridge, he piled the dishes into the sink and walked to the couch to check on Milla one last time.
He crossed his arms across his chest and walked to the front door, turned the padlock, and closed the door quietly.
End note- thanks to @darklymelanatedstories for the awesome idea of the interaction between Chomps and ‘Geta and for supporting my writing! :)

A ONE TIME THING
Fandom: Devil May Cry Characters: Dante, Lirael Thorne (OC) Rating: Explicit co-written by @lickitysplitfic A/N: Am I back? Kind of! I’ve been in a bit of writing funk lately, and my dear friend @lickitysplitfic gave me a nudge by writing this with me; sometimes you just need to riff some smut with your closest friend to get the creativity going again. Like Smeared Lipstick, this is set sometime during Memory of the Waters and includes a heaping dose of smut, a bit of pining, and two people refusing to admit they’ve got feelings for one another.

"Dante."
Lir's voice snaps him out of his half-doze, and he nearly falls out of his chair when he sees her hang up her coat and bag and walk across the shop. He pulls his feet from the desk and sits up in the chair, swallowing thickly as she moves to stand on the other side to glare at him disapprovingly.
"Yeah?" he asks.
She folds her arms. "We need to talk about what happened at the house."
"Oh." That. "What about it?"
He could swear her cheeks go a bit pink, if he thought Lir was capable of such a thing. "We had sex. Remember?"
Dante snorts. "Of course I remember."
"Well!" Her voice goes up in pitch and she tilts forward a bit, as if prompting him. When he shrugs, she heaves a huge sigh. "We need to agree to never, ever do that again. Ever. Promise?"
He grunts. It's the only sound he's capable of making, giving that he's now, thanks to her, thinking about the sting of her nails in his skin as he held her against the bookcase and—wait, she's talking again. Lir waves a hand in front of his face, and he folds his arms over his chest. "You sayin' you regret it?"
"Yes. No! I mean . . ." Lir groans. "I don't regret it because we didn't do anything wrong. Right?" Dante nods. “But it can't happen again."
"Why not?"
Dante's brows go up when she laughs. "What do you mean, why not? You're my boss! And you're way older than me! And . . . it's weird!"
He considers that. "I could fire you."
Lir makes a face. "You're acting like you actually want to do it again." Then her eyes go wide. "Oh my god, are you in love with me?"
"Don't be a brat," he warns. "Who else am I gonna do that with? Trish? Lady? They'd shoot me first. And I'm not old."
"Sure thing, pops."
"Lir."
She snorts and moves around the desk, leaning on the edge of it so that she's mere inches from him. "So it was just convenience, then? You've got no one else?"
Dante rubs the top of his head. "It wasn't like that either. It just . . . happened."
"Yeah." Lir traces her finger along the wood of the desktop, frowning. "It was kind of crazy, wasn't it?"
Crazy isn't a word he'd use: hot, or exciting, maybe. But he nods and leans forward on his elbows. "We've been arguing a lot. I guess the tension was too much."
"Yeah."
"And I thought we were goners."
"Yeah."
"And you really did piss me off."
Her eyes snap up to him, but then she laughs. "Yeah. That was funny though."
"Did you know that thing was in there?"
"What? No!" But she's still laughing, not trying to hit him, so he supposes that she's not upset by the question. "I just wanted to annoy you a little for annoying me. The demon didn't show up until after I'd locked you in."
"White Queen is nice." Lir looks surprised, and he nods to where her weapon is sitting by the door. "First time I ever handled it. You did a good job on the customizations."
"Thanks. I needed it to be lighter, y'know? The default blades are pretty hefty, since they're made for strength over speed, so I lowered the engine capacity and changed it around to run more off of gears than pistons so I could harness a bit of electricity . . ." She closes her mouth and dons what he'd think was an embarrassed smile if it wasn't so out of character for her. "Sorry, I'm ramblin'. I'm glad she could help you."
There’s an awkward silence, and Dante uses the chance to study her face. He wonders if she is really as mad as she's acting, and wishes he knew how to ask, and he watches Lir study the floor as her teeth catch her lip. She chews for a moment, looking positively adorable, and he swallows thickly when her bottom lip comes away a bit plumper and darker.
He mulls over his options for a moment, then asks, "Those your only complaints? I'm older and your boss?"
Lir glances at him. "Do I need more?"
"Nah. But," he leans back in his chair, "I'm only your boss in name, and only until you get yer own shop. Can't do much about my age—"
"Geezer."
He fixes her with an unimpressed stare. "Can't do much about my age, but it's not somethin' that anyone needs to know about. Long as we don't go around broadcastin' what we're doin' . . ."
"Wait." Lir narrows her eyes at him. "You're saying you want to do it again? I thought we agreed it was a mistake?"
Dante shrugs. "I don't know. It was fun enough."
"Fun enough!" Lir leans over to poke him in the shoulder. "I'll have you know I'm a damn good lay."
"Well, since we've only done it once, and you were mostly screamin' my name—"
"I wasn't screaming—"
"—I think I'd need to test it again." Lir makes a face as he leans back in his chair and pats his lap. "You could have never brought this up. But you walked in here wanting to talk about sex. So, why don’t we just do what you want to do?"
"What I want is to pretend it never happened," Lir insists. But her voice is off, and they both know it.
Dante reaches out and grabs her wrist, giving her a tug. "You really gonna play it like this?"
Her gaze roams his face, darting between his eyes and his lips, and he waits to see if she's going to keep dancing around the issue or confront it head on. "What about you?"
"What about me what?"
She steps forward slowly, almost hesitantly, until she's standing between his legs. "What do you want, Dante?"
He reaches out in a flash, wrapping his arms around her and lifting her easily until Lir is straddling his lap a moment later. She grabs his shoulders as his hands slide down her hips and curve around her backside. "We can set some rules," he suggests.
"Okay," she replies breathlessly.
"Work stays separate."
Lir nods. "This is just sex. Not anything else."
"Agreed." Dante's lips quirk. "No falling in love with me."
"That goes for you, too." Her fingers slide up over his neck to weave through the hair at the nape of his neck and he has to suppress a shiver. "You can't fall in love with me."
Might be a bit late for that, he thinks, but merely nods his head, and a second later her mouth presses to his, that plump bottom lip slotting between his own. Dante kneads her backside while she kisses him, little goosebumps rippling over his skin as she takes her time to taste him, giving this a much more intimate feel than the quick, flaring passion from the library. It gives him time to steady himself, something he's grateful for; Trish had been in his ear two days ago about how obvious it was that he's got it bad when it comes to Lir.
Which is in no way true.
Her hands push his coat down his shoulders and he shrugs it off, pulling away from the kiss when Lir tosses it onto the floor. “Hey!" he protests. "That's leather."
"So what?" she pants, leaning in for another kiss.
Dante moves back, and Lir opens her eyes to glare at him. "That coat cost me $600, don’t throw it on the floor."
"Six hundred? No wonder you're broke," she laughs, shaking her head.
He frowns, and she stares at him for a second before huffing and twisting to lean over the arm of the chair to snag his coat from the ground and set it on his desk. "Better?"
"Mm-hm." Dante grabs the hem of her shirt and tugs it up. Lir helps him get it the rest of the way off, and he's once again startled by the revelation that she's not wearing a damn thing beneath. "You always refuse a bra, or just when you're here?"
"They're small, so I've never seen the point."
"Not that small," he grumbles. Dante drops her shirt and covers her breasts with his hands, but Lir grabs his wrists.
"How dare you throw my shirt on the floor," she says harshly. “It is 100% cotton and I paid four dollars for that."
Dante makes a face and pinches her nipples, snorting when she gives a little yelp. "You're such a little smart ass, aren't you?"
He reaches with his foot, manages to get the toe of his boot hooked under the collar of her shirt, and somehow flicks it into his hand, all without moving too much from where he is. It leaves him feeling pretty pleased with himself and it tosses it to join his coat, and it must show on his face because Lir leans forward to take the lobe of his ear between her teeth and tug. "Ouch! The hell was that for?"
"Your face was annoying me," she replies matter-of-factly.
Dante grunts and cups her breasts again, almost weighing them in his palms. "Brat."
They continue like this, teasing one another, Lir nibbling on his neck and teasing his jaw with her lips as he massages her chest and flicks his thumbs on her nipples until they are flushed and stiff. He grows hard with the way she gasps a little each time he changes up how he touches her, and Lir is squirming in his lap, rocking against his growing erection. He would call her a tease if he didn't know better.
He drags one hand through her hair and pulls her head back so he can press his lips to her neck. Dante strokes his tongue along the column of her throat, smiling as he feels her swallow, her long sigh making him shift uncomfortably in his too-tight jeans. The push and pull he had felt that night when they had fought off the demons lurking in the house comes back, the end of a build up that has been going on for a long time, with every toss of her hair and tank top and defiant smile adding fuel to the fire. Her taunts have him wanting to tease her for more and wanting to tame her all at the same time, a contradiction that has his heart beating faster.
She seems so soft in his hands now, another difference from back then, when she had been as much of a spitfire as she always is. Her voice is quiet and pleading instead of hard and demanding, the press of her fingers to his shoulders guiding without being forceful. Dante kisses down her throat, careful not to leave a mark—no matter how badly he wants to. When he reaches her shoulder, where her shirts cover her skin, he bites down, keeping the pressure of his teeth sharp yet, he hopes, not painful.
"Damn demon," Lir mutters, tugging on his hair. Dante huffs a laugh as she draws his mouth back to hers, and as she kisses him slowly and deeply her hands move to his belt.
"You lookin' for something?" he chuckles against her lips.
Lir hums as she pulls the leather through the belt buckle. "You got something to show me?"
"I think you remember," Dante replies as her hand slips under the waistband and grabs him at the hilt.
"Hm." She gives him a slow stroke, or as much of one as she can with her hand restricted by his jeans. "Seems bigger than it was then. Or maybe it's just how tight your pants are?"
He reaches between them to unsnap the button, giving her more room to work. "See for yourself."
Lir tilts her head. Then, with a wink, she slides from his lap to kneel between his thighs, and he watches with his heart in his throat as she frees his length from the fabric. Dante expects a witty remark; what he doesn't at all expect is for her to lean forward to wrap her lips around the head, laving over it with her tongue.
"Fuck, Lir, wait—" His words turn to a gasp when she slides her mouth down, pulling the length into her throat until she gives a little choking sound and eases back. Her brows draw in a bit in concentration as she tries again, her hand tight around the shaft as her head bobs up and down.
It is so damn erotic, seeing her on her knees like that, that Dante can only grip the arms of his chair and pray he doesn't splinter the wood. He watches in rapt fascination as she tries again and again to take as much as possible, the little suction of her lips and her throat tightening around the head when he hits the back of it and she swallows around him making his eyes roll with pleasure. Dante sinks back into the chair, sliding down a bit, his thighs opening as she sinks around him again, wrapping him in the hot, wet suction.
She finds a rhythm that has the arms of the chair groaning under his fingers: it's slow and deep, forcing him to nudge against the back of her throat every time she swallows around him, and what she can't fit in her mouth she works in the same pace with her hand. Dante feels his skin crackling the longer she works and bites his lip until he tastes blood, the cut healing over a second later. He doesn't want to hurt or scare her, but goddamn does she suck him like a champ despite claiming to have never done anything like this before.
"Lir," he groans, pumping his hips up to meet her movements. "You gotta stop, I'm gonna . . ."
She glances up, her lips wrapped around the head, and he whimpers as he tries to hold it together. Lir bats her lashes at him as she pulls her mouth slowly away, only to trace her lips with the tip of his wet cock. "You don't like this?"
"Of course I do," he hisses through his teeth.
"Then shut up and enjoy it," Lir smirks.
Before he can protest she is swallowing him again, her hand pumping fast on his length. Dante wants to hold on but it's too good, and her stupid attitude makes her hotter somehow, which makes no sense.
Deciding to give her what she wants, his hands dig into her hair and he guides her as he rocks his hips. Lir moans around his cock and a minute later he comes, releasing in dizzying waves as he empties into her mouth. To her credit, she swallows it all, and when it's over and he can collapse back she teases the head with her tongue as he comes down from the orgasm.
Dante breathes heavily through his nose, watching her through lidded eyes. It's been a long time since someone yanked the reins out of his hands like this, if it ever happened at all; nearly all of his encounters have been women wanting to see what fucking a demon hunter was like after seeing him on the news, and all of them were more inclined to letting him do as he pleased. Lir, though? She demands his attention, and he's finding that he doesn't mind that at all.
Her tongue swipes around him and Dante huffs, tugging her wrist. "Okay, easy. Have mercy."
Lir grins up at him. But she stands and leans back on the desk, hands on the edge. "That was actually pretty hot."
"Yeah it was." Dante rolls forward and kisses her stomach. She laughs and he opens her pants, tugging them down her hips as his tongue teases her navel.
"What are you doing?" she chuckles. "You ready to go so soon?"
Dante gets the fabric over her foot and yanks the rest off, throwing them to the couch. Then he lifts her again to sit her on the desk, pressing his hands to her thighs. "I need a few more minutes. Gonna return the favor first."
"Wait, really?"
He notes her wide eyes when he reaches for her panties, snapping the band against her hip. "Yeah? what, none of the boys you played with before know how to go down on a girl?"
She doesn't quite look uncomfortable, but there's a tinge of uncertainty to her voice when she replies, "Guess it never came up. Not like the Order was big on sex ed."
Dante pauses, teasing the skin where her panties rest on her thigh with his nails, and he grins at her shiver. "Really? This is a first for you, then?"
"Don't make such a big deal out of it," she mutters.
"Wasn't plannin' to. Just means I gotta make up for what those jackasses didn't do."
Lir heaves an impatient sigh. "Is this it then? You just bore my vagina to death?"
Dante slips his hands into the fabric and tugs it down her hips, his eyes smoldering as he looks up at her. "You better get ready. I'm only good at two things in this world, and eating pussy is one of them."
She laughs as he pulls her panties off impatiently. "What's the other?"
"Killing demons," he answers as he lifts her thighs up and open. Lir falls back a bit, bracing her hands on the desk as he slides closer. "And I don't see any demons around, do you?"
"Just yo . . . oh." He'd grin against her at the way her voice goes up a couple of octaves and gets breathless when his tongue presses between her folds if it weren't for the fact that the taste of her has his body going painfully tight. It's clean and sweet, and eagerly he flattens his tongue, wanting to catch as much of it as he can.
Lir jolts in his hands but his grip keeps her legs open. He lavishes her sex with long, flat licks, all the way along her slit from bottom to top. Once she's accepted she can't go anywhere and he feels her thighs relax in his hands, he moves his attention to the hood, giving little experimental licks to see what she likes.
"Oh . . ." she groans, her back bowing. Lir goes down to her elbows, her head falling back as he rolls his tongue around her hood. Then he slides his hands down her thighs until he settles them against the creases so he can use his thumbs to open her labia.
Her clit is swollen and pink, and he kisses it lightly. Lir jerks with a choked cry, and Dante can't help his grin as he does it again. She's so sensitive that he can't do more than just the gentle licks, working up until he can wrap his lips around it and give a little suckle. Lir lets go a moan that makes sweat break out on his back, his chin instantly flooded with her arousal. He does it again and she whines his name, and Dante knows he has hit the jackpot.
He focuses there, keeping his lips wrapped around the bud as he rubs over it with the tip of his tongue. Lir's hands grip his hair, tugging sharply at his strands, and the pinpricks of pain make him groan; he'd told her that he needed a minute, and he though that he did, but just this much alone already has his cock stiffening, her voice and touch and body more addicting than he'd ever admit. "Dante," she pleads. "Dante, I feel . . . I need . . ."
Dante dips down to lap at her opening, and she groans in response. He teases her walls for a moment before returning to her hood, but this time he flattens his tongue against her clit. Lir responds by grinding against him, and he remains mostly still as he lets her work her hips until she is gasping.
Lir rides his face until a cry tears from her throat, and when she starts to come he grabs her thighs and pushes them up and open. Eagerly he sucks on her clit and laps at her sex, practically drinking from her as she falls apart under his touch, writhing and moaning in pleasure.
When she whimpers and tugs at his hair again, he draws away, wiping his mouth with the back of his hand. The sight of her flushed, glistening sex sends a thrill that's equal parts pride and desire through him, and he stands and leans over her, bracing one arm above her head. "Need a minute?" he asks teasingly.
Lir blinks up at him. Then her eyes narrow and her lips curl into one of those smiles that's as playful as it is challenging. "Nah, but if you need a breather, I wouldn't blame you, old man."
"Maybe I do." His hands slide along her body, roaming her thighs and up her torso to cup her breasts. "You got me hot again," he murmurs, pressing his lips to her breast.
Lir trembles at his rough touch, but her voice is even when she jokes, "No wonder you never get laid. You never shut up."
He bites the top of her breast, earning a yelp and a swat to his shoulder. "I get laid," he mutters.
Lir opens her mouth, but before she can say anything he kisses her, taking the opportunity to roll his tongue over hers. She inhales sharply, then her arms slide around his shoulders as he reaches down to push his jeans the rest of the way off his hips, kicking them away impatiently. He draws away from her lips only to grab a condom from the top drawer of his desk. As he rolls it on, she laughs. "You been planning this or something?"
"I told you, I get laid." He leaves off the sometimes, or better yet, used to anyway, as he opens her legs. Dante takes a moment to look down and appreciate the sight of Lir flushed and naked and open on his desk, one of his top three fantasies for the better part of the past year. Then he sinks into her, her body like scorching hot silk, and Lir groans beautifully as he fills her up, sliding easily past her soaking folds.
He gives her a moment to adjust, panting against the crook of her neck. When he starts to move, he does so carefully, listening for any sound of hurt or discomfort in her quiet moans, building slowly to a place that's going to leave them both more than satisfied. Her nails drag along his back as she wraps her legs around his hips, her heels digging into his back to urge him on. "Don't tease," she breathes.
"Wouldn't dream of it," he answers. Their mouths meet in a deep, sensuous kiss, her tongue sliding against his as Dante pumps his body in and out. The room fills with heavy breathing and the slapping sound with each thrust. Everything about this, about her, is so damn erotic, it's like he's living in one of the stories in his magazines. Lir is so tight around him that the friction sends jolts of pleasure through him at every pass, until his focus is fucking her fast and deep as he starts to build another orgasm.
Their kiss turns a little sloppy, but he doesn't mind. Not when he can feel her body tensing and her limbs trembling and the way her walls squeeze around him, all signs he recognizes from the last time they wound up having sex. He pulls away from her lips to watch her, wanting to imprint the sight of her falling apart on his mind. And she's stunning, her hair a pale halo around her head that nearly glows against the wood of his desk, her golden eyes bright, her cheeks flushed and lips kiss plump and parted on a low moan of his name.
Her hands grip his forearms as her mouth falls open, and Lir arches against the desk as she comes. Dante slows to a breathtaking drag, grinding deep within her, feeling her tunnel gripping him as her fingers grasps him almost painfully. Sweat beads on his brow and drips into his eyes as he watches, listening for the little broken cry that means she's had enough. Her hand raises to press on his chest, dragging down his chest, her palm feverish to the touch. "Come on, Dante," she whispers weakly.
She doesn't need to ask him twice. He grabs her thighs and presses them up and apart as he begins to drill into her, his hips battering against her as he chases his own orgasm. Little mewls fall from her lips with every thrust, feeding the fire burning beneath his skin until, with a hoarse groan, he comes, filling the condom with his seed. He nearly wishes he didn't have the damn thing on, because he wants to know how it would feel to fill her instead, and he leans down to press his lips to her neck, panting against her skin as wave after wave of bliss jolts along his spine.
Dante presses his forehead to her chest as he catches his breath, easing the tight grip on her thighs. His face feels flushed and feverish, and he is in desperate need of a shower and a drink. Not because he regrets this; on the contrary, that was the best sex of his life. He eases out of Lir's body almost reluctantly, but knowing if he's not careful, this could become a problem . . . and he is for sure not giving this up now.
He glances up to see Lir grinning, her arms over her head. "Damn that was good," she sighs, and as he steps back she stretches her legs out and rolls her ankles. Then she sits up, smiling at him coyly, and crooks her finger for him to come closer.
Surprised, Dante steps up so they are almost touching. Lir presses a hand to his arm, dragging it upwards, and he shivers at her touch. But when she reaches his shoulder she gives his earlobe a sharp tug, laughing when he jumps. "I'll admit it, your dick is good," she sighs.
Dante frowns as she eases off the desk, pushing past him to start picking up her clothes. He watches as she stands on one foot to slide her pants back on, finally blurting, "That's it?"
Lir looks at him, confused, and shrugs as she zips up. "Well, for now. You hungry? I want a cheeseburger with everything on it now." She pulls her t-shirt on before patting her stomach. "That workout made me hungry."
"Yeah," Dante laughs, shaking his head as he reaches for his pants. "You're buying though."
"Hey!"
He puts up his hands in protest. "Rules are rules. Don't want to do anything to make this look weird, hm? And me buying would look like I was bribing you."
Lir narrows her eyes and folds her arms. "Fine," she snaps. "Then we're not ever doing it again." She huffs into the kitchen and Dante snorts as he tugs on his jeans. Never do it again? Probably the best idea she's ever had.

Sound off, fellow Saints Row fans
With SR5 on Volition's main burner and slated for an info dump later this year, I figure this might be a good time to stir the fandom pot. How many of y'all would like to see/be part of an active RP server for the series?
This has been an idea I've been playing with for a while now, and I want to make sure there's an interest before I kick this off officially.
So! Anyone interested, sound off in the notes!
A few key points, to give y'all an idea what to expect:
-Paragraph style default/recommended. As a writer- and RP-scener myself, I find this style of RP the most satisfying and engaging. Multi-para isnt expected but equal effort will be, as a courtesy to all players.
-Multi-role/Multi-faction. The server will cater primarily to SR 1-3. IV will have its own little section if there’s enough demand, given it's more player vs aliens and not exactly faction-based. This means that you can stretch your legs into more than just the Saints. You want to roll with Los Carnales and fuck up some VK ops, or be a Luchadore and smack down some Saints? This is the place to really stretch your creative legs.
-Reward System. These are plans for the future, if and when the server really takes off, but how fucking satisfying would it be to see your OC rise through the ranks of their gang? Active (and sometimes ballsy) roleplay will net you attention from your superiors, with potential for promotion. With events, this means you can call the shots with your Boss (or, if you're particularly good, potentially take the mantle of Gang Boss for yourself).
-Social networking. Whether you're roleplaying or just hanging out in chat to gush about how much you love the games, this is meant to be a central hub for fans of the series. You're bound to make friends (even if you're real fuckin shy like me lmao), and that's the biggest plus to this server.

Ten for Ten for Ten
AFKL:jafklasfjj I have been summoned by @arlithenerd
Tumblr media
(Just kidding thank you, now here’s hoping I did this right haha)
My responses will be posted under the cut (cuz I’m a wall of text monster and don’t know how to do read mores mid-post), but in the spirit of the meme, I’ll move my own 10 questions up first, and the tags at the bottom of it.
Now let’s see what to ask, UUUH...
1) Is there a character you really, really like? Could be waifu/husbando, could be just someone you really resonate with.
2) How about OCs? Is there an OC you’re really fond and/or proud of?
3) What’s your most favorite character trope, and what’s your least favorite? (Example tropes: Jerk with a Heart of Gold, Beware the Nice Ones, Amnesiac Hero, etc)
4) Now what’s your most and least favorite plot trope? (Examples: Rags to Riches, Hurt & Comfort, specific AUs, etc)
5) To complete the Trope Trifecta: What tropes do you most or least like in terms of character design (Examples: Capes, futuristic or fantasy style, how practical they are, how complex or simple they are, etc)
6) What are you the most proud of? (Like, something you made or an achievement)
7) Who/What has been your biggest inspiration? (Like an artist or celebrity, a fandom, maybe something you read or watched growing up, etc)
8) When you want to relax, what’s your go-to way to chill? What immediately calms you?
9) Any favorite myths, legends, folklore or themes you really like? Or what kind of theme or element would immediately draw you in to a new series if they have it?
10) How merciful or evil will you be with your 10 questions you’re giving? (Heheheheh)
And now to subject all of you to these questions, but especially you: @mdzs-tgcf-svsss-fanblog @miss-laney @moanderfe @abenignsmile @okamiryuu @flowerytrashpotato  @milli-and-chika819 @littlemissdash @grimastiddies @avistella (kidding, join in if you want, tag or no. Or don’t, even when tagged. It’s all cool, no pressure~ I have no idea who to tag and/or who is chill about being tagged for something like this, I’m sorry orz)
1) a personality trait that most people wouldn’t know about you (if you feel comfortable with sharing of course!)?
I’m kinda self-defeating. I tend to think of the worst about what I do as default and have to ease eventually to the idea what I did turned out at least ok afterwards. It’s still a mindset I’m learning to work on, though it trickles in from time to time.
2) what are you most passionate about?
Creating.
|’Dc Broad answer, I know, but more specifically, I love a lot of creative hobbies, and it’s hard to narrow it down to any specific one since I love them in different moods and different reasons. Things like writing, drawing(/spriting), textile things like sewing or crocheting or origami... It’s easier to say I like the core theme of knowing you made something, and it exists because of you, and “you did this” kind of feeling.
3) what is your favorite flavor profile? (sweet, spicy, sour, umami, bitter, etc)
Sweet! Depending on the food and my mood, I also like sour and spicy things, but I tend to gravitate more to sweetness with less fussiness of how so.
4) favorite series/franchise (from any medium) and favorite character within that series/franchise?
Oh gerd, there’s a bit, but in a vague attempt to narrow it down that let’s face it, I know I’ll fail, UUUH...
Fire Emblem (particularly Fates and Heroes) - I love both of them for just how easy it is to generate ideas for. It’s funny because I realize it’s admittedly taking a lot of things that frustrate or disappoint or leave me hanging with either games that I end up liking the two most by virtue for how many ideas it paves way for in terms of headcanons or fanworks or the like. I do like things on their own merits as well, but I think the “I wish things could’ve been better/elaborated on, and therefore I will create things based on that!” side to it was what made me appreciate them more (probably not exactly for the best reasons, but! It’s a thing.) In terms of favorite characters, there’s a ton inside and out of just these two games, but I’ll give the honorable mention to Summer Takumi specifically, because the paralogue he (among others) was released in came at a critical point in my personal life that had some effects on me that, tl;dr, led to me commiting to making this blog, and making more art in public, and eventually writing fanfics in public too.
Pokemon - Was basically my childhood and went a long way into starting the first spark of a lot of the kind of hobbies I end up growing up and obsessing over/enjoying. Things like giving me a massive interest in coding and programming along with glitches and unused beta elements, or how it’s where I got my start in art back when I was little and trying to figure out how to do pokemon fusion sprite edits. I’d probably say my favorite character is a tie between Missingno and Celebi (in case the former doesn’t really count), the former for just how varied it is and being the main part of why I love how game coding works while being a gateway to beta content interests, and the latter for sentimental reasons spanning all throughout the entire time I followed the fandom game-wise.
Animal Crossing - It got me through ups and downs, it made up a chunk of nostalgia since the first game up to New Leaf (no switch, so now New Horizons, oh wellz), and I had a lot of memories both fond and low-key terrifying otherwise all throughout. I got a lot of favorites among villagers and NPCs otherwise, but if I had to narrow it down to one each:
I love Whitney for being the only snooty-type villager back when I played Wild World who was surprisingly kind to me (and I’m sad I no longer have the original cart and imagine she long since moved out anyways probably), and so she gave me an experience pretty similar to Ai’s own experience with Whitney in the movie.
NPC-wise, I’m going to go with Sable (it was a really tough choice!) for the fact that in every game, she was among the first instances you can get to know a villager so closely that she was willing to explain to you more and more of her character. Usually in many of the games, once her arch is finished, she no longer elaborates on her life and goes right back to talking generally, but if it wasn’t enough that it was among the first times you see how her demeanor changes from ignoring or staying quiet with you, to going out of her way to find things to chat with you, it was also the memories she explained once you start befriending her.
5) how have your closest family members and/or friend(s) impacted your life?
I consider friends more as family than my actual family (to put it vaguely and/or kindly, my actual family did few to no favors for me). My closest friends have picked me up when I fell (multiple, multiple times), and they were much of why I’m still here, doing what I can. I owe the world to them...
6) if you could be anything (any job, other person, type of animal or beast, literally anything aside from what you are now) what would it be?
A multi-billionaire Maybe someone who shapeshifts. The possibilities with that are endless.
7) favorite beverage?
Coffee. There’s quite a lot of drinks I really love, but coffee is the most easily accessible for me.
8) i know this is a generic one but favorite subject/class you’ve taken?
Arts & Crafts and Computers, give or take. Pity they’re usually the least important for grades and also the shortest class semesters of the year.
9) early bird or night owl?
I’m heavily inclined to be a night owl, which is unfortunate, because I’m in a place constantly forcing me to be an early bird.
10) favorite meme?
I’m completely in love with memes of cat pictures where cats have expressions that are beyond words, yet represents big moods all the same. If I had to narrow it to one specific meme, however...
Tumblr media
My heart will always be with Anfisa. Aka Angry Cat No Banana.

Happy Holidays @give-me-food-and-ninjago !
I was your secret santa partner! I'm sorry that I wasn't able to find the time to familiarise myself with your oc's and I wasn't able to find a way to stick Morro in there anywhere so I hope this will suffice! It's under the cut! (Nevermind I can't figure out how to cut it off sorry everyone)
Thankyou to @coco-jaguar for hosting the event and affording everyone this wonderful opportunity!
Cole peered in through the glass, grimacing when he was forced to wipe away the misting of breath that condensed against the tank’s visage.
“Are you satisfied with your purchase?” Pixal’s voice was cool, yet it held a trace of amusement as the nindroid watched the gecko’s movements alongside him.
“Yeah I am! Look at the little guy!”
The ‘little guy’ in question was currently sleeping inside the faux cave that served as a shelter for the reptile.
“So, what will his name be?” Cole turned to face the android, forehead creased.
“I don’t know really, haven’t thought about it.”
Despite the lack of forethought alluded to in the previous statement, the gecko hadn’t really been a spur of the moment purchase, though it may have seemed like that to the other residents aboard the Destiny’s Bounty. Cole had been considering getting a pet for months and had spent many a late night on his phone, researching pet enclosures and care, hurriedly shoving the phone under a pillow when he heard footsteps patrolling outside the bedroom door.
Luckily, the assorted ninja no longer shared a bedroom, meaning that he didn’t necessarily have to run his plan by the others. However, that wasn’t to say that he had kept his newest acquisition strictly a secret, it wasn’t long after he’d decided on a pet that suited him that a certain curly-haired motor mouth had caught him comparing the prices of tanks on his phone.
‘Pets R’ Us’ was offering a tank for about $90, however ‘Petz Mart’ was offering one of similar specifications, except that it was priced at $150. The only difference? ‘Petz Mart’ had a warranty that lasted about a year longer than its competitor.
A weight landed on his shoulder and Cole jumped as his assailant offered his opinion. “I think you should go with ‘Petz Mart’, can’t beat a longer warranty!” Cole flinched around, staring at his friend’s freckled visage. Jay’s grin split nearly from ear to ear as he watched the earth ninja sputter and choke on his own spit.
“Sooooo, what are you doing? Looking for “Rocky 2 point-“
Cole slammed his hand against the lightning ninja's much maligned 'mouth of lightning' with a hiss. “Shut up!” he glanced about the empty kitchen, concerned that more busybodies would suddenly make themselves known.
He glanced back at his friend and was grateful to find that, as opposed to being offended, Jay seemed to be nothing other than amused. Cole could feel him smirking behind his callused palm and one gingery eyebrow ascended higher and higher up his forehead.
Jay then did the predictable, and utterly disgusting. Licking up the earth ninja’s sweaty palm, the broad grin stretched to near nightmarish lengths, painting his face in a sadistically humourous light.
Cole retrieved his hand with a noise of deep disgust, eyebrows scrunching together.
Jay noticed this movement and couldn’t help but quip, “I’m just saying! I didn’t think you needed any more pets than that lovely pair of caterpillars on your face!”
Said caterpillars then attempted to take their relationship to greater lengths as they pressed further together.
Jay laughed, noticing Cole’s glare. “Oh come on! It’s a joke! What are you doing anyway?” he inquired, not very subtly changing the subject.
Cole sighed. “I’ll tell you if you promise to keep that big mouth of yours shut!”
Jay responded, for once, nonverbally, by miming zipping his lips shut and then, somehow, throwing away the zipper.
“I want to get a pet, okay? I’ve been looking into it lately and a gecko seems like a good fit to me! They sleep a lot and-“
Now it was Jay's turn to physically silence the other. “Okay! Okay? I get it, I don’t need the whole rant.”
Cole turned his eyes downward, “Well isn’t that ironic?”
Jay chose to ignore, or simply didn’t hear the thinly veiled insult. “Sooooooo. . . What are you going to call it?”
Cole blinked back at him. “I don’t know, not yet at least. I’ll figure it out when I meet them.”
And so, Cole’s hypothetical pet remained unnamed, yet even when he did first lay eyes upon the miniscule reptile, still he had no idea what to name him.
Kai was the next to learn about the new acquisition to the ninja family and as he came across the gecko he came up with what he considered to be the most creative and cutting edge among pet names.
“Scales!” he claimed. “Scales is a great name for a lizard!”
Cole frowned, nowadays that seemed to be his default expression. “But we already know a Scales and I don’t think we know him well enough to go naming pets after him!”
Kai nodded, giving his version of what was considered to be understanding. “How about . . . Godzilla, then?”
Cole fixed him with the coldest glare he thought possible. “No.” He stated, steely tone leaving no room for argument.
Zane was the next to come across the gecko, exploring his friend’s room in the hunt for dirty washing.
“Why don’t you name him something with cultural or personal siignificance? Like after the first Spinjitzu master or your father?”
Yet again Cole shook his head. He couldn’t really see any reason to name a lizard after the first Spinjitzu master.
Besides, 'Lou' seemed a stupid name for a gecko.
Nya's take on the situation was just as unhelpful as she attempted to list the unnamed gecko’s physical features as a way of selecting a name for him.
“Spots?” She drummed her callused fingers across the bedside stand Cole had selected to hold the tank.
Cole didn’t even bother to lift his face from where he had mashed it into his pillows, which were luckily softer than those afforded to him on Chen’s island.
“No.”
Nya hummed, peering into the tank.
“Webby?”
Cole frowned. “Webby?” he repeated.
Nya turned and began pointing with her right hand at the junction between finger and thumb on the left.
“You know, like the webbing between your digits.” To emphasise the point the water ninja began to enthusiastically waggle the fingers on both her hands.
Okay, she was definitely doing jazz hands at this point.
Cole groaned. “He’s a leopard gecko, he doesn’t have webbed feet!” he snapped.
Instead of being offended, Nya grinned. “Sorry, not everyone’s a lizard expert, you know?”
She looked back at the tank, peering intently at the gecko, who stared straight back.
Eventually the water ninja was the one to lose the staring contest. Straightening, Nya turned once more to the earth ninja.
“Scales?”
“Your brother already suggested that.”
Nya’s grin flickered as a look of disgust crossed over her features.
“Well, that’s one great mind I don’t want to think alike with.”
Lloyd didn’t so much as offer advice on naming the gecko, but rather sat on Cole’s bed with a book of baby names. The earth ninja had no idea why he had such a thing. When asked Lloyd offered little to no explanation. Stating that he’d bought it for personal reasons.
Of course Cole could respect such a thing, and as such he didn’t question the green ninja any more.
“Aberforth?”
“No.”
“Abraham?”
“No.”
“Adam?”
“No.”
“Then what do you want to call it?”
Cole couldn’t honestly answer. He could only hope that the next person he asked would be more helpful.
“Sensei Wu?”
The old man didn’t offer any verbal answer, instead fixing his aging eyes on his hopeful student.
“I’m trying to find the right name for my pet.”
“Hmmm.”
“And no one’s really offered any good advice for what I should name him.”
“Hmmm.”
Cole blinked. “You’re not going to help me either, are you?”
The elderly teacher’s lips curled upward into a fond smile. “No, Cole. But I believe in this situation it is best not to offer one’s own opinion but to allow the other to formulate their own.”
Cole hummed in response, fixing his eyes on the aging boards of the land bounty.
The two sat in silence for hours, the elder deep in meditation as his student pondered his gecko. Eventually, Cole looked up to meet his sensei’s eyes.
“Ferdinand.” He mumbled, eyes fixed on the teacher's face. “Ferdinand sounds right.”
A small smile began to form on the teacher’s face. “And is that the name you think fits your pet?”
Cole smiled as he thought back to the gecko. “Yeah. Yeah, I think it is.”
Cole peered through the pristine glass of the tank.
“Ferdinand?”
The gecko’s eyes blinked from inside the tank.
Cole smiled. “Ferdinand it is then.”

Dear We Bare Bears,
Hello! I am Sugs. Within the next month, I will be in the start of my college experience as an Illustration major. That fact is completely wild to think about considering when I first started watching this show (on this day four years ago) I was entering High School as a freshman student and I was, in fact, a completely different person. Therefore, I decided that because I am stepping into a whole new chapter of my life and this show has been with me the entire way... this Anniversary I wanted to write about how this show has impacted me over the past four years.
Apologies for this being a long post, I have a lot to say.
I created this blog right at the end of the premiere week of this show. I had watched every new episode airing during that Bearbomb that week. One of the  last episodes of the week was Primal. So, while it was still airing and I decided in the middle of it that I was hooked! And I knew I needed to make an ask blog to enjoy these silly bear brother characters and fuel the love I had already already found for the show somehow. Wbbbrothers was that ask blog.
I didn’t know at the time but that was possibly one of the best decisions I could have ever made for myself at that point in my life and do mean that very sincerely. Growing up, having intense interest in media that took over my entire creative output was always a very common thing (and obviously still is). These large phases were able to keep my full attention about 1-2 years tops until my brain latched onto something new. But, out of all of those I have to say that We Bare Bears and Bears in general truly are very special to me. I have never been able to create such a variety of stories, embrace so many flawed and imperfect yet still loved characters and feel so deeply about them and the stories I was telling through them. Especially for this long of a time. We Bare Bears as a show holds a great deal of heartfelt comfort for me.
To me: We Bare Bears is a unique show in the fact that (most of the time) it has a very casual, down to earth and calming atmosphere about it. That being said, it is never afraid to experiment or step foot into other genres thanks to its open ended and episodic nature. It is not perfect by any means, like any cartoon written by human beings with flaws. But I admire the love that gets put into it with its personalized watercolored backgrounds, muted palette aesthetics, little visual humor and amazing colorists in general. It can be hit or miss sometimes but it is episodes like Chicken & Waffles, Chloe & Ice Bear, Occupy Bears, Yuri & The Bear, Hibernation, Hurricane Hal and more that remind me why I fell in love with the show in the first place. It loves the quiet moments just as much as I do. It does not have to be constantly shoving stimulation down your throat and in your face in order to tell a fun or compelling story. I have always respected its ability to take things at a slower pace sometimes, especially when a lot of current cartoons tend to lean towards Snappiness (snappy humor, snappy action, bright colors and fast pacing)
We Bare Bears feels like warmth. When I re-watch my favorite character driven episodes I cannot remove the fond smile from my face and when I re-watch my favorite adventure filled episodes it always sends me bouncing in my seat.
My method with interacting with my interests was always to create my own fan-content or Alternate Universes with the characters that I loved.  It was my way of putting a piece of me into the characters whether it be through my other interests in media or my own experiences and feelings. The AUs I make are a genuine form of self-expression to me.
Obviously, the Character Driven and Open Ended Slice of Life nature of We Bare Bears as a series really opened up the flood gates in terms of my creativity and ideas for AUs.  I never felt happier than when I was creating new jokes or dialogue or just silly scenarios. Alternate Universes were a combination of all the parts I loved about creating for me and they started to act as my own free-roam stories to explore these favorite characters of mine in all sorts of different ways. Since I have started, my work has only improved the more love and passion I put into it.
Superhero AU and Bad Bears are my main two fan stories/AUs of mine that have been around since I was 14-15 and are two of the most developed AUs I have ever had. They taught me a lot about, developing fictional worlds, characters and plotlines and I am STILL developing and enjoying them even now! They’ve also inspired me to make so many other OCs and stories so much as influencing future projects that I am currently in the middle of developing.
It baffles me to think of a world where I never watched We Bare Bears and never was able to be influenced by its fans, its art, writing and its characters.
If you’ve been on this blog long enough you might recall that my first Wbb AU was your average run of the mill Zombie AU (this was while wbbbrothers was still primarily an ask blog) not to be confused with my Zombie 2 AU which is a completely different premise entirely aside from the zombie apocalypse part. Long story short, I had a Fuckload of AUs back then and I mean A Lot. Enough to get condescending messages over, even some curse outs. (Not everyone I met over the four years was the greatest...) I was scared away from publicly speaking about most of them the way that I used to. While my technical skill was lacking for that age and I could not write a solid scene to save my life, despite the negativity, the intense passion and enjoyment I felt from making content kept me enthralled with the show. I kept making my AUs in private and developing them, posting more general fanart and occasionally art for my Superhero AU publicly. I even started to get pretty good at drawing Bears! And managed to make some friends who shared interests with me, something I never got to have offline.
It was not all great of course, the past four years have been extremely hard for me and extremely hard for everybody else, I’m sure. Bears was my default thought when surviving High School; my go-to pick me up. I seriously would say that it has saved me more than once whether it be through talking to my friends I met because of it or just offering a distraction/creative outlet from whatever was going on in my life.
Prior to becoming a fan I never would have thought I would have been able to  make so many stories, projects, art, writing and comics  and talk to so many amazing creators and people all thanks to this one show about Socially Awkward Bears living in San Fransisco.
But here we are.
And you know what, even when I inevitably move onto newer projects or interests, I think Bears will always be an important influencer to me. The wonderful people I have met throughout these four years have given me so much support and love and friendship like none I have ever been allowed to experience before. I have learned so much about my identity through my friendships and my stories. And even the awful people I have met taught me what NOT to do and what to avoid when moving forward in my life.
I am just. So, so grateful for everything and being able to pursue what I love and have it be received by others to make them feel things too. There is a Lot more I could say I am sure but since this is long enough as is I will send it off here.
So from the bottom of my heart I can only say Thank you. Thank you to my friends who still talk to me to this day, I love you guys. Thank you to those I used to speak to but don’t anymore, our friendship of the past  still stays with me. Thank you to anyone who enjoys my work, my stories and follows me despite my wild ramblings such as this!! (If you’re still reading this wow, points to you)
And Thank you We Bare Bears for helping me grow so much as an artist and giving me a sense of direction and purpose with my work as a hurting teenager who was very, very lost in 2015.
Sincerely yours,
Wbbbrothers <3

eye-catching title ;
Once again, I’m AJ! Lookin’ for a couple of different things, mostly similar to my last ad. We love a (mostly) one trick pony!
For original settings: apocalyptic (zombie, disease, extinction event, whatever), sci-fi (futuristic, space-faring, space opera), fantasy (high, low, medieval, urban), supernatural (fantasy, urban, sci-fi, literally anything). For fandom universes: Percy Jackson, Pokemon, and Fallout.
Gonna run through my basic info and then onto the particulars. 💕
  ⥽ About Me ; ⥼
  • Name/Age ; AJ! So close to 22 I can taste it. One more month…
  • Timezone ; CST! I don’t mind time differences, this is just so you know my general schedule.
  • Length ;  Truly varies to the point where sticking an average on it is difficult to do. 3-5 minimum I guess? I can go with that as an average if you prefer multi-paragraph style or write novella.
  • Reply rate ; Varies depending on whether we’re doing multi-paragraph or novella. I can respond anywhere from every day to every other day or a few times a week to weekly depending on the writing style of the RP and my schedule.
  • OOC ;  I like getting to know my partners and sharing enthusiasm over our ideas and characters. Nothing hits quite like mutual investment! I’m ditch-friendly but don’t ditch myself, so you can expect communication. I’m not picky if I don’t get the same from you, though. I’ve been around the block enough to know it happens.
  • Contact ; Strictly email for OOC and roleplay unless we’re using GDocs for the RP itself, no messengers even for OOC. You can find me at [email protected].
  ⥽ On the lookout for ; ⥼
  • Doubling ; Unlike my last post, this isn’t a deal-breaker! I just prefer writing a cast of characters, so this is something that’s more of a bonus. Ideally we’ll double, but I’m down for writing just one character each.
  • Will only write MxM or FxF ; MxF’s not my cup of tea (I’m extremely picky with it, fellow gays u know how it is). If we’re writing a cast of characters then I’m fine with having an MxF side couple.
  • 18 + ; I’m pretty much 22! Partner’s gotta be 18 +. 20 + ideally. Same with characters, extra bonus points for characters who are 30+. Romance doesn’t die once you hit middle age!
  ⥽ Yes! ; ⥼
  • Smut ;  I enjoy writing it, but it’s not a deal-breaker if you’d rather fade to black.  All characters will obviously be adults. I expect versatile characters in bed by default, that way we’ve got an even route for playing roles in bed. Admittedly this shifts a bit depending on the character I write, but a HUGE no on anyone who comes in guns blazing off the bat with how they only write bottoms.
  • Face claims ; Spent a huge chunk of my roleplaying years on tumblr (it was very over-the-top and flowery and weirdly formatted and grossly difficult to read, I know I know), so having a face for characters stuck with me. If you don’t have any of your own and want good resources to find a face, I’ve got some recommended sites I can throw at ya! Had a previous partner who had a character sheet format that I use now that’s simple but looks nice! Nyx if you’re out there don’t come for me for copping your format.
  • Depth & growth ; Not a fan of one-dimensional characters or characters who act the same from beginning to end! People change with experiences and the people around them, so this is to be expected. ESPECIALLY when doubling with a cast. I loooove complicated characters growing together.
  • Plotting & Worldbuilding ;  *For original settings/worlds! I’m not picky with this if we’re working with a canon setting, so if that’s what you’re looking for, we can skip this section. I run into loooads of folks who say they do this when they really don’t. We’re writing an entire world together, so there’s some degree of effort involved! I need specifics to use as a start-off point for the roleplay and a general outline for where the story’s going. RPs that are just random, spur of the moment with writing as we go on tend to burn out REALLY quickly for me. I know not a lot of people are into this, so I’m sorry about that.
  ⥽ No! ; ⥼
  • Underage characters ; Total given that there will be NO sexual themes with underage characters, but in general as well! I only write adults.  20 +.
  • Single paragraphs ; I’m not too picky with a lot of length a lot of the time, I just don’t mesh well with people who don’t write more than that. Go ham. I like my responses meaty!
  • Limits ; Abuse, nonconsensual/sexual assault, pedophilia, incest (includes step-relations, adopted relations, and that figurative like if one character essentially raised another or they were raised as family), weird age gaps, BDSM, any kind of master/slave or dom/sub dynamics.
As for the goods, I’ve laid ‘em all out for you here! Keep in mind that while all of these are fun on their own, I’m definitely the type of writer who’s into mixing and matching. Sci-fi apocalypse? Fantasy apocalypse? Fantasy supernatural stuff? Sci-fi fantasy? Sci-fi supernatural stuff? Supernatural apocalypse? Period settings? Literally whatever you could think of, I’ll give it a whirl. The particulars down below are just to get the ball rolling and catch some interest. Hit me up with whatever you’d like!
APOCALYPSE: My bread and butter! Tense, harrowing, and especially gut-punching when it comes to how close people become to survive together in quiet moments of a world they used to know. I’m a big fan of zombies, so that’s my loose preference. I loved Black Summer on Netflix – the earlier episodes, at least, as well as The Last of Us. That’s the kind of vibe I favor with zombies/zombie-like creatures. But, ofc, an apocalypse can be anything! I love writing different takes on the genre since there’s so much to cover. Extinction event, pandemic, impact event, monsters/beasts, man-made, whatever. The more creative the apocalyptic setting, the better, so I’d love to bounce some ideas back and forth. Not too into a nuclear apocalypse setting, since that overlaps a lot with Fallout down below.
SCI-FI: Sci-fi’s a bit tricky since it encompasses so many different takes, so I’m clearing the air to say anything’s good. Futuristic, space travel, time travel, space opera, AI, apocalyptic, cyberpunk – if it works in sci-fi, it works for me.
FANTASY: High fantasy, low fantasy, medieval fantasy, urban fantasy, whatever. Love dragons, love magic, love weird fantasy flora, definitely love the classic prince/princess x knight or commoner schtick. You want prophecies? I’m game. You want elves? I’m game. You want steampunk? I’m game. You want none of that and wanna do something else? I’m game, baby. The possibilities are endless.
SUPERNATURAL/PARANORMAL: Vampires and werewolves and demons, oh my! Can’t go wrong with horror, especially can’t go wrong with comedy-horror. I’m more of the type to prefer humans and supernatural beings together in a ragtag duo type of way as opposed to two supernatural beings, but anything’s cool in my book. Medieval/fantasy setting for a dark fairytale vibe, urban/modern supernatural beings slinking in the shadows outside of the human eye, supernatural sci-fi stuff, mysteries and danger lurking around every corner? Seriously, it’s a great genre! Any and everything is fantastic. I’ve got a loose concept of demons/the Underworld I’d like to get into since I’m struggling with the worldbuilding of it, so applying all that to a roleplay to give it a whirl sounds like a great way to work out the kinks. Plus, c’mon. Paranormal romance. What’s not to love there?
PERCY JACKSON: I haven’t ever roleplaying this verse before, so this is completely new grounds for me. I’ve seen some fun takes on it, though! Scoured older ads but haven’t reached out to anyone because the posting time’s pretty old, but a couple ideas I’ve skimmed through sound fun. HP got a period take on it, so why not put that spin on PJ with a period setting rather than in modern times? Or just a regular modern setting. Y’know, keep it classy, keep it sexy, keep it fun! I’m definitely focused on life outside of camp, since all the characters will be adults. Life’s supposed to suck for demigods, so let’s get into that.
POKEMON: Leaning a little more on the Detective Pikachu take, since it was fun to see a less anime/game-esque take on the pokemon world. The almost neo-noir style was sooooo cool, so I’ve got my sights set on leaning maybe a little more into the noir sensibilities and themes as an homage to the blending of genres between Pokemon and noir.  So a lot of themes of alienation, mystery, ambiguity, things along those lines. Definitely a weird mix with Pokemon but I think it can be fun.
FALLOUT: Gonna be real with you guys, I’m a total newbie to Fallout and have only played F3 because it was the only game I found in my family storage for Xbox 360 and I don’t have enough money to get a gaming PC/Laptop to play the other games. I’m watching playthroughs, though! Dipping my toes in the water, so to speak. I’m into it! It’s a fun franchise from what I’ve played and seen so far, so I’d love to write OCs in this verse.

[old] guidelines
// these are my original rules. though they are still generally relevant, my newer, shorter, more concise rules post is here
A love letter from me to you! Please take it to heart.
The Lowdown: mod is an artist & supportive af|selective|primarily plot-motivated|operates on mutual respect|your friendly rpc fairy godbitch; gimme your wishlists|zero tolerance for OC negativity & bigotry|triggers present|18+ content present|consistent but occasionally capricious activity|OOC communication appreciated|lots of love abound ♡
Mod Sal (they/them/theirs; 24; PST)
I study medicine and social justice with emphasis on emergency medicine and sex work, respectively. In addition to being a writer I’m also an activist, artist, and scholar. I’ve been writing Bel since 2015. She’s a very intricate and highly dynamic character who has gone through many changes over the years via her interactions. I look forward to developing her even more with your muse(s)!
Before I talk about the kind of conduct I’d like on my blog, this is the type of roleplayer and friend I aspire to be. I’ll strive to be as attentive and supportive as I can about your muse, ideas, as well as ooc presence. If we’re mutuals, you can expect plenty of inboxes, tag games, headcanons, relationship tags, to be tagged in & sent posts relating to our muses, general interaction, and emotional support proportional to the depth of our interactions when I’m online. I’m an unapologetic 1-person hype squad at heart and will do my best to spread the love and return the love I get.
If I’m not around here, you can find me on my snk blog and/or discord by request. I muse Eren and Levi as secondary muses, but they won’t be nearly as active as Bel and are only available to established mutuals. I also have untagged resource & nsfw musing side blogs.
Interactions
When it comes to interactions, nothing motivates me more than an eagerness to develop our muses’ relationship. Depending on what works best for you, we can work on this via inbox submissions, plotting, or simply interacting. I have a tendency to write para/novella-length replies, but will strive to match you in length and style. Please include something I can actively respond to in your reply, because neutral replies can be very difficult to build upon, and please do not godmod her based on assumptions and/or stereotypes about her character/profession.
With regards to ask responses, please feel free to turn them into threads by tagging me in a new post and cutting your replies. I’ll turn asks into threads if they inspire me, but you’re under no obligation to continue them if you’re not as motivated. When cutting, please don’t cut me out. Also, please don’t reblog asks with your reply or reblog replies with my tag if I don’t reply quickly enough. I track of all my threads to the best of my ability, so please check there first if you want to know the status of our thread. If I’ve missed a thread of ours, please help me out by sending it to me in a message so I can add it to the tracker. If you lose muse for a thread, please don’t feel pressured to continue it. We can always take a break or start something new. I don’t cap my threads and am always open to new interactions.
Selectivity
Though I run a selective blog, I am not very selective in nature. I do have a preference for original and SnK/AoT characters, especially those that inspire me and challenge me. I’ll primarily look for interactions by checking blog rules for oc-friendliness, reblogging promos, asking to be mutuals in the tags, then follow back after that initial follow is granted. If you don’t want me to follow you, please block me completely because otherwise I’ll think it’s a mistake/glitch and follow you again. On the topic of glitches, they do happen so I apologize ahead of time if that happens above or below my radar.
I don’t tolerate oc-negativity or ooc bigotry and will handle my blog accordingly. If you align yourself in any way with TERF, SWERF, homophobic, ace-exclusionary, racist, and/or xenophobic rhetoric, please do not interact. It’s important for me to surround myself with enriching content and community. I have boundaries and will be setting them for my own comfort as well as respect yours because mutual respect between muns is key to a healthy rpc.
Sourcing
Please don’t do it. This goes for starters, ask memes, wishlist posts, and wanted connections. I understand we might not be the muse/mod duo you have in mind and that we don’t fit every situation, but please don’t fill my notifications with this sentiment, especially if we don’t have any established interactions yet. If our blogs have that much in common, there’s so much we could be musing about. If this happens excessively without us having any interactions, I’ll unfollow and/or block because I am a roleplay blog, not a resource hub. If you’re interested in my musing/resource posts, please show interest in muse interactions as well. The latter is why I’m here and there’s nothing more disheartening and discouraging to my creativity than being used and/or ignored when I present things.
Original Character Disclaimer
It pains me that something like this needs to be said, but Bel wasn’t created to force ship with your muse and/or overpower our threads. I will absolutely under no circumstances tolerate any form of OC negativity. I don’t care if you think they’re “cringey”, “underdeveloped”, “overpowered”, or any other iteration of not meeting your personal criteria of a good character. Opinions are valid but unsolicited bullying is not. It is important to realize that canon characters are still original characters bar their capitalistic franchise. The mods of original characters are a goldmine of free and original content and deserve to be judged by conduct, not content.
If you’d like to support OCs, I invite you to scroll through and reblog a thing or two from my OC positivity tag, as well as follow and engage in meaningful interactions with the OCs in your orbit. Your encouragement could be what makes a content creator’s breakthrough, so please be kind and supportive. Saying you’re OC-friendly while providing an extensive grocery list of double standards OCs must abide by to be considered acceptable isn’t OC-friendliness. Likewise, musing an OC doesn’t automatically make you incapable of being exclusive (unintentional or not) so please be cognizant as well  and lets support each other.
Shipping
That being said, I’m just like every other mun. I enjoy shipping and the occasional smut scene given the chemistry is right and both muns are equally invested in the relationship as well as comfortable with it. The more we develop our muses, the more complicated their relationship will be and the more likely I’ll personally gift you with fanart. Above all, your comfort is paramount to our interactions so please communicate with me. Likewise, please respect my comforts when I speak of them. I am much more likely to be enthusiastic about shipping than Bel is, however, so please be patient with us and respect her boundaries as well.
# FREE THE FPN . SFW // ONLY IT’S NOT
This is the tag I will use to mark sexually explicit content. Bel is somewhere on the ace spectrum, but is nonetheless a sensual character and has a couple verses that engage in sex work. Bel’s struggles with her identities are a very big part of her personal characterization, so please be patient with her. [Marilyn Monroe’s hinted asexuality] Likewise, if she’s not into your muse, please don’t push such interactions unless we discuss them as a plot element.
Trigger Warnings
The SnK universe is rampant with violence, gore, psychological trauma, profanity, and grey morality. Furthermore, I enjoy writing dark themes and will provide the disclaimer now that this may be a rather trigger-heavy blog. However, that doesn’t mean you have to be subject to all these themes. If you’d like me to tag things in a certain way, please don’t hesitate to let me know because your comfort is important to me. I’ll gladly create a new tag for you to blacklist/filter and add it to my tag list. Furthermore, this blog will have the occasional explicit content so please don’t interact if you’re under 21.
Activity
I’m finishing up my bachelor’s so classes and coursework will keep me from here sometimes. Furthermore, I struggle with mental illness and domestic abuse in my home environment, so bouts of these may also pull me from activity. I’ll be doing my damndest to keep my issues off the dash but if things are especially severe and I feel the need to post about it and/or reach out, I’ll use a semicolon tag (#;).  Nonetheless, musing, roleplaying, and plotting helps keep my spirits up so please keep me updated with your muse and share your discord with me, if you’d like. I’d love it so much if we could continue developing our muses as I slip off of and find my way back to tumblr, and I’d appreciate you very much as a writing partner and friend. ♡
Accessibility
I’m not very savvy with code, but I do try my best to keep my blogging accessible as I tinker and learn. If you struggle with accessing any part of my blog, let it be font size, style, or anything else, please let me know and I’ll do my best to accommodate because I don’t want to perpetuate elitism or ableism in the rpc. As far as reply formatting goes, I’ll usually stick to once small text (particularly in novella length replies via ctrl shift -) and spare use of italics, bolding, and strikethrough text. I may use unicode and/or zalgo for art captions, personal musing posts, crack threads, and other posts that call for it. Every once in awhile, I will blog from mobile and as a result post text in default size, but I’ll still cut my posts and at worst, separate our replies with a symbol or icon if I can’t blockquote text through html.
Permissions
One of my favorite things about roleplaying is sharing content and playing tag games. If you come across anything that reminds you of Bel and/or our interactions/plotting, please show me! Even more so, if you’re a content creator, you have complete and total freedom to use her and her inspirations in your work. I only ask to see it! Likewise, if I ever create any art for you, please acknowledge it at the very least. If you send in an art request and I deliver, please reblog it. Failure to do this kills my creativity as well as generosity so... please.
Exclusive to this blog are my own art and edits as well as those gifted by friends. Please don’t ransack our labors of love and re-purpose them as your own. Bel’s Iva & Marie icons were collected by yours truly with a beautiful frame made by Shane. Other people who have contributed their talents throughout the years include madcapraccoon, L, desertbl00m, Eris, Justice, sangre-rebelde, emptyolivejar, desimouse, and the many rp blogs that have interacted with her. I’d also like to give a special shout-out to sjokohama for the boundless enthusiasm given to her development as well as the readers who have enjoyed and left amazing comments on her original fanfiction. She wouldn’t be out here if it weren’t for Y’all ~ ♡
If you feel like something should be added to or clarified in these guidelines, please let me know. I realize I have a lot to say as a consequence of being here for so long, but I still want to keep my conduct as transparent and accessible as possible.
Thank you for reading! Please feel free to like this post and interact ~ ♡

THE JUNGLE
Detailed descriptions under the cut.
If you decide to use these or other Jungle races for an OC/campaign, feel free to @ this blog and I will be happy to advertise your work!
GRUNG: -2 Strength, +2 Dexterity, +2 Constitution, Poison Immunity, Amphibious, Poisonous Skin, Standing Leap, Grung Poison.
Official Description:
Grung are poisonous frog-like amphibious humanoids that live in trees. Their society is organized in castes determined by each grung's color.
Grung prefer to live in shady areas, and need to remain in constant proximity to water. Their tadpoles develop in ground pools, already separated by caste. All grung continuously secrete a poisonous substance that is harmless to them.
In addition to their naturally poisonous nature, grung also poison their weapons. Each color of grung poison causes a different ailment in their victims.
Grung society has a rigid caste system, and each grung's place is determined by its color:
Green: Warriors, hunters, and general laborers.
Blue: Artisans and domestic workers.
Purple:  Supervisors of the green and blue grung.
Red: Scholars and magic users. Also known as grung wildlings, they are superior to purple, green and blue castes. Respected even by higher castes.
Orange:  Elite warriors, with authority over all lesser grung.
Gold:  Also elite warriors, with the highest leadership positions. Every tribe leader is a gold grung.
Some mobility is possible between the castes in cases of valuable contributions and great deeds by the use of ritual magic and herbal compounds.
Grung tribes also make extensive use of slavery, and are always looking for new creatures to enslave. They keep their slaves at bay by poisoning their food in order to inflict lethargy on them. Over extended periods of time, the effects of such poisoning can only be removed by magic.
Personal Commentary:
First, just to show some creative possibility with that color system...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
We have the frogs for the job.
It sounds like this is a highly rigid, collectivist, authoritarian society. Isolationist in the sense that if you are not a grung you are not welcome in any role other than slave, very self-contained and very ordered. I don’t think it’s necessary to have grung “always looking for new creatures to enslave” because it sounds like again, they have a very structured system at work. Slaves equal a higher drain on resources whether it’s food, water, poison, shelter, medicine, whatever. Also, procuring slaves in the first place can be risky, and the more poison needs to be expelled controlling slaves the less efficient those slaves will be. So my suspicion is that while it would be common, slaves would be employed in specific grunt positions that wouldn’t be compromised by mental or physical lethargy. These positions would also be carefully monitored and not exceed the quantity required to avoid excess expense.
On top of that though, there’s the question of environment. As an amphibious race, the grung could potentially have architectural structures above and below water. Slaves would most likely be restricted to above water. Grung are referenced as having tribes, as if they might be nomadic, but if they know they have a consistent water supply capable of sustaining a large, rigid population, slaves, and nursery for tadpoles, it makes sense that they would be stationary and build defenses. Also frogs do weird stuff with mucus, underwater architecture and even above ground architecture could get really fun and unusual.
HALFLING: +2 Dexterity, Lucky, Brave, Halfling Nimbleness.
Official Description:
Wild halflings tend to be lean, with black hair and dark eyes. They live in small tribes in the jungles, separate from native humans. They have a primitive hunter-gatherer society and each tribe is ruled by a chief, who made decisions alone. They also practice polygamy, with males being free to have as many wives as they can comfortably support. A male can challenge another male for a female. Each village is completely self-sufficient, and the halflings have no use for trade. Their tendency to kill humans they find in their territory means that they rarely have visitors.
Wild halflings make a unique, paralyzing poison called kurari which they use on their arrows for hunting and fighting. In addition, they use knives to dispatch prey and to defend themselves.
They also have a number of superstitions, mostly concerning the intermixing of adult males and married females, and each tribe reveres a talisman. This talisman influences how they sacrifice people, something they do with any human caught in their territory. For instance, a tribe with a jaguar lord as their talisman will keep the creature in a pit in their village with sacrifices deposited there during an appropriate ceremony.
Personal Commentary:
No beating around the bush, the original blurb/concept is pretty racist. It’s also not the only one. “People who live in jungle climates are wild, stupid savages” is an unfortunately common trend for this setting. Ultimately though, the idea of jungle races being less civilized and doing things for no reason is just not gonna cut it with worldbuilding. Forget the tumblr outrage culture for a minute, the idea just plain doesn’t reflect reality and isn’t relatable. But that’s why homebrew exists.
For a hypothetical jungle-default campaign, I’m mainly drawing influence from civilizations in Mexico/Central America. This is partly because it seems like there were attempts to evoke the Mayans and the Aztecs, partly because tabaxi being “jaguar men” points to new world stuff. This is still DnD though, so of course artistic license historical influence is par for the course. IMO there should just be at least some knowledge of and respect towards source material before making changes, however.
As a rule of thumb, when it comes to cultural influence in fantasy I'd argue everyone should be equally default (normal to those living within a given culture), equally exotic (foreign, strange, barbaric, confusing, curious, etc. to outsiders), or even both simultaneously for the same groups. I’d also argue that using dead civilizations (ex. Ancient Egypt) is safer than using ones that still exist. If you’re going to draw from contemporary groups, it’s worthwhile to see if there’s precedent for members of that group telling fantasy stories using the same things you’re looking to tell stories about. Also, try to make sure you’re not trivializing anything sacred! If it’s commercial, dead, or has been used already in a similar way you’re probably alright. After that there’s more risk involved and you’ll need to tread lightly.
ANYWAY, back to halflings.
It’s important that halflings in this setting do not comprise a major civilization, but exist more in scattered villages. These villages are stationary both due to the presence of pits, the importance of familiar surroundings to keeping intruders at bay, and the utilization of agriculture. Halflings are not going to be mainly Mayan or Aztec inspired because they aren’t influential enough, and further it doesn’t make sense for them to be practicing human sacrifice given their small population size. Sacrificing certain animals or setting aside a portion of harvests as offerings would be fine, but in communities like this you need those numbers.
Additionally, I remember a researcher mentioning that for the Mayans in particular there was a HUGE body count just in terms of living in a jungle setting. That came from deaths in childbirth, deaths pre-sex, deaths post-childbirth, infant mortality, deaths from disease, deaths from fashionably reshaped skulls, deaths from warfare... when there is so much death happening on a routine basis, implementing some rigid cultural structure is a way of navigating that. It might mean using a calendar to decide when to conceive for instance, since giving birth the wrong time of year could spell certain doom. It might also mean ensuring maximum efficiency among surviving members of society.
So halflings having low populations, it doesn’t make sense for them to do human sacrifice OR to be completely opposed to all trade. They might want to stay hidden if there’s concern they could be subjugated by local civilizations, but they’re not going to want to antagonize those civilizations by actively seeking foreign sacrifices either. If they can co-exist peacefully with a group that might contribute technology and resources, that’s good for them. Therefore I’d argue jungle halflings are more likely to kill intruders if they can hide the bodies/make it look like an accident, but they’d prefer not to kill and just stay under the radar since it’s less risky. They would probably have alliances with other cultures provided those cultures won’t prey on them. Tabaxi, elves, tasloi, and aarakocra would all probably be okay for that while humans, dwarves, grung, trolls, and yuan-ti are more likely to be kept at arm’s length.
Polygamy in native Central American populations seems to have been practiced only among nobility (for Mayans and Aztecs), which makes sense since being able to support that many partners would be a mark of status and financial success. In small, isolated halfling villages it doesn’t make sense that there would be enough resources for that lifestyle so IMO that element can be completely scrapped. Strict gender roles could be practiced among halflings not so much to reduce opportunity or look down on either sex, but because low population and environmentally-posed obstacles + time needed to bear/rear kids has precedent. Women would probably be in charge of maintaining the home, rearing children, medicine, some crafts, and finances while men would be in charge of obtaining food/water, defending the village, some crafts, and negotiations with outsiders. Probably divergence from traditional roles would only be accepted so far as the exceptions were being productive members of the community, and there would likely be higher scrutiny tied to that.
A chief making decisions alone seems like it could go really bad if the chief doesn’t know what he’s talking about, especially in a tiny community. Makes more sense to me that the chief and their partner (if existent) would maintain leadership roles together with the chief having final say, but the head of each family in the village could hold counsel with the chief.
Men being able to challenge other men for women seems like it should be scrapped because that’s just going to cause fights and instability, which would in turn raise body count. Poison and knives make sense and can stay, talismans should only be called talismans if they are material, constructed objects. If they’re living animals the name should be different to avoid confusion, and there should be people within the village whose job it is to take care of those animals. Those same people would also be charged with making sure the village is safe with their animal and vice versa. If the talisman is an actual talisman, I’d argue in favor of it being an enchanted item with varying levels of power.
Physical traits with lean frames plus dark hair and eyes is fine! Clothing I tried researching some but couldn’t find non-Aztec/Mayan dress that I was confident recommending for influence, so I’d say probably drawing influence from Aztec commoner clothes for day-to-day activity is safe. This would mean...
“Men [...] mostly wore a loincloth.  Made from a single long strip of fabric that was then tied in front, the loincloth might be the only thing that a man wore.
A man with a plain loincloth would be of fairly low rank, or even called a slave, but a man with a  higher rank might have decorative fringe on his loincloth.  A man might also wear a kind of triangular cloak, known as the tilma or the tilman.”
Women, meanwhile, wore things like this:

But as I said, there’s some sweet artistic license with fantasy/DnD. None of these things are rules so much as useful jumping points.
TASLOI: -2 Strength, +2 Dexterity, -2 Charisma, Small size, +1 Bonus on Attack rolls, +4 Bonus on Hide checks, -4 Penalty on Grapple checks, Climb Speed 20ft, +4 Racial Bonus on Hide and Move Silently checks, in Thickly Forested areas Hide Bonus increases to +8, +8 Racial Bonus on Climb checks, can always choose to take 10 on Climb checks, Darkvision, Low-Light Vision, Light Sensitivity, Nimble Escape.
Official Description:
Tasloi are humanoid jungle-dwellers whose race is thought to be thousands of years old. While very quick and nimble between the trees, tasloi are easily dazzled in bright sunlight and prefer to stay below the jungle canopy. Despite this, tasloi do possess low-light vision. They speak their own language, but some also speak Common or Sylvan.
Tasloi are 3-feet tall with gold, cat-like eyes; their green skin is thinly covered in coarse, black hair. They have a stooped, crouching posture and their knuckles drag on the ground when they walk.
Tasloi live in small groups consisting of several families. Their lairs are usually a series of large trees interconnected by vines and ropes, constructed on platforms high in the jungle canopy. Each tree sports platforms, 50-100 feet above the ground, upon which the tasloi live. Some tasloi work and live on the ground, along with the village's livestock. They raise dire rats or spider eaters as beasts of burden and mounts. The rats are kept as pets and used to aid in construction, maintenance, and protection of the community. Medium dire rats are used as mounts. If the village does have any spider eaters, those beasts were reserved as steeds for the most powerful tasloi in the settlement.
Tasloi normally attack from above, dropping from the treetops onto unwary opponents. If they manage to gain surprise, they use nets to ensnare adversaries, otherwise attacking with their short swords and javelins. They always use hit-and-run tactics in order to wear down tough foes, thus avoiding any stand-up fights. Tasloi always try to abscond with slain bodies, thus saving food for the group.
Often they can be heard at night, speaking in their high, whispery voices.
Personal Commentary:
When creatures use knuckles while moving as their default, it comes at a cost to dexterity. Our ancestors becoming bipedal was a huge deal in terms of evolution because it left our hands free for other things, like making and holding tools/weapons with greater skill and mobility. If you look up human beings who walk on all fours for medical reasons or even just look at great apes, it’s clear that there are costs to quadripedal movement.
If the goal is that Tasloi be extremely good at climbing, I’d say drawing inspiration from the spider monkey is probably a good way to go.
Tumblr media
Arms can be proportionally longer than human arms without being equally long/muscled compared to legs. A very long and muscular tail acting as an extra limb for climbing would be a huge advantage, and you could do an experimental foot shape to continue buffing dexterity without losing balance.
Tasloi can definitely craft tools and weapons. It’s also explicit that they make nets, so most likely textiles are part of their culture as well as well. Tasloi aren’t stupid. If eating other humanoid races is a thing at all, I’d imagine it wouldn’t be a main food source. Even if there’s not taboo, cannibalism has health hazards. Feeding corpses to livestock is a different story though.
All this said, there are some cool opportunities to really experiment with architecture and art given this is a hyper-dextrous, arboreal race. It sounds like there might be a caste system with different levels of living off the ground for different tasloi according to job. It also sounds like tight family bonds are important and history is important, given there is an understanding of the race’s age. There might be room for ancestor veneration here.
ELF: +2 Dexterity, Darkvision, Keen Senses, Fey Ancestry, Trance.
Official Description:
Wild elves have darker skin than other elven subraces, in a range of light to dark brown. An average male is 5'8" (173 cm) in height and weighs 150 lbs (68 kg), while an average female is 5'3" (160 cm) and 130 lbs (60 kg). Their hair can be anywhere from black to light brown, and it grays then turns to white with old age. They prefer to wear as little clothing as possible and choose instead to adorn themselves with other decorations like tattoos, feathers or body paint. They can make and wear complicated and intricate beadwork. Males are usually larger than females, sometimes by as much as five inches or twenty pounds, but wild elves differ little in size from other elves.
Wild elves, like other elves, are nimble and agile in body, but they are commonly thought of as less intelligent than their elven brethren due in part to their aversion to civilization.
Wild elves are a quiet, withdrawn people who neither like outsiders nor tolerate any offense to their person. In some ways, wild elves are very savage and they are quick to violence if provoked. Few things are more dangerous in the wilderness than a vengeful band of wild elves with ill intent. However, wild elves are not wholly uncouth and most would rather let trespassers go freely than harm them, so long as they learn nothing that could be used against the tribe; those who do are usually wiped of their memories rather than killed. Wild elves are also trustworthy and loyal friends who, though so slow to trust that short-lived races such as humans are often put off the attempt, will happily reward those who earn their respect and admiration in any way they can.
Wild elves live in a tribal society without many of the advances available to the other elves. They rarely craft their own magical weapons and have lost the ability to use powerful magic. There are rare cases of powerful shamans; these are almost always female. Wild elves do retain the ceremonies and feasts often found among other elves, which are occasions of joy with singing and dancing. Hunts are events where each member of the tribe has his or her own particular place. Sometimes these are held on their own, and sometimes they are held as part of a larger event. Although it is common for wild elves to speak a number of languages, it is rare to find one who is literate.
Wild elves who leave their remote homelands to become adventurers are often drawn to careers that require physical strength, much more so than is the case in other elves. Rangers and barbarians are particularly common amongst warrior wild elves, though fighters are not unheard of. Although wild elves worship the gods they are only very rarely clerics or other divine spellcasters, feeling a closer affinity to the ways of the druid or shaman. Similarly, due to a lack of literacy or magical tradition, very few wild elves become wizards--though the path of a sorcerer is well-respected amongst the wild elves. More experienced wild elven adventurers commonly become arcane archers or druidic hierophants.
Wild elves strongly prefer art such as music and poetry to physical works of art like painting or sculpture. To a wild elf, the joy of art comes from its spontaneous creation, rather than latter appreciation. Because wild elves see the world as ever-changing and the things within it as impermanent, wild elves feel it is distasteful to write down musical scores or oral tradition, believing that it unnaturally locks the art into a sterile state. Wild elves carry on this ideology into their architecture, which is woven into the tangled limbs of living trees in a complex web that would baffle many "civilized" architects.
Wild elves are excellent craftsmen, but they prefer tools that can be assembled or deconstructed at a moment's notice, often resulting in a primitive or even crude aesthetic, though wild elven tools are no less effective in overall use. Weapons in wild elf society tend to be those that can be created without the need for metal, a resource that is not naturally available without refinement. Bows and spears or halfspears are common weapons, as are clubs, daggers and knives made from bone. Some prefer to wear hide armor but most are content to use their innate agility or various forms of camouflage as their primary defense.
Like other elves, wild elves are fond of wild animals and try to live in harmony with their feral neighbors. Many wild elves keep animals like wolves, birds of prey, or wolverines in their tribes as guardians. Wild elves are not even adverse to keeping larger, more dangerous dire animals, who are kept as companions only slightly less often.
Magic does not play as large a part in wild elf society as it once did. For these reasons, and others, wizards are uncommon. However, wild elves have, in contrast with their wood elven cousins, no particular aversion to the arcane arts and though they lack any strong traditions of the Art, they are generally welcoming of its use by sorcerers, who come by their talent naturally. Wild elves are also common practitioners of primal magic and druids are common amongst the wild elves, who typically use more words, gestures and material components in their spellcasting than is common among the druids of other races.
Wild elven religious practice is often very informal and rooted in animistic traditions that see the fey gods as simply part of a greater pantheon that include primal spirits.
As part of their unusual traditions, wild elves have several unique practices and beliefs. Tattoos are common among the wild elves, who often enchant the markings with power. Wild elves also believe that each member of their race has a spirit animal. These animals are believed to provide spiritual guidance and protection. Young wild elves must discover their own spirit animal by attending a ritual involving spending hours in an enclosed area filled with burning herbs. During this time, he or she is expected to have a vision of the spirit animal that will accompany him or her for the rest of his or her life.
Wild elves are not a very open-hearted race and are generally untrusting of outsiders, in part due to the harsh experiences of their history. Wild elves will commonly avoid or even outright attack intruders upon their lands, though not all wild elves are so extreme in their methods. Wild elves have been known to help lost adventurers, though usually such "help" involves capturing the intruders, magically altering their memories, and setting them free some distance away from their homelands. When wild elves themselves require help from outside, they will reluctantly seek it, sometimes even allowing visitors into their hidden sanctuaries.
Wild elves almost exclusively inhabit forested areas. Some tribes live in small villages of huts, and others live a nomadic lifestyle. It is common to find entirely male or entirely female tribes. Some wild elf tribes construct villages at the tops of trees, using considerable engineering skill.
Personal Commentary:
There is a lot of potential for elves living in the jungle, but what I said before about eliminating comments regarding savagery, primitive practices, or lack of intelligence? Full speed ahead in this section. There are a lot of contradictions here too, many of which read like whoever first developed the concept was going more with abstract ideas and stereotypes relating to tribalism. Some ideas here seem promising though. I’m not going to focus on specific, existing tribes here because that seems like iffy territory, but I am going to see how much of this concept can be streamlined, cleaned up, and adapted for a jungle campaign.
Physical description is fine, although beads can be scrapped since to my knowledge that isn’t as much of a thing in jungle regions. Also more flexibility for height/weight, especially since some homebrewers like to have elves taller than the average human. Feathers as decoration have a ton of precedent, they’d just probably be flashier, more tropical birds.
As with halflings, I think any violence, hostility, or suspicion toward outsiders needs to be deeply rooted in pragmatism rather than pride. No noble savage stuff, this is a setting where grung like to collect slaves periodically and there are two major imperialistic civilizations that practice human sacrifice using new arrivals to their empires. Which is to say nothing for trolls. If you’re part of a culture that has had positive relations with them in the past and has been identified as friendly, there’s no reason for them to be averse to trade for additional resources and advantages. Alliances among less influential groups that use that use stealth and evasion tactics to evade empires or predatory cultures just comes in handy.
Magic use seems to have severe waffling through this section. No writing system/using an oral tradition is perfectly well and good, and as the description says that does make sense as a MAJOR deterrent to having wizards in this society. But lacking other forms of magic in this setting is a major nerf, and also raises serious questions about how a mind-wipe would happen with any consistency. Druids, sorcerers, bards (should be HUGE in oral culture), clerics, even warlocks should all be very present and revered here for the advantages they bring. Warlocks more likely would be working with fey though, as opposed to say demons. Forget gender restrictions for magic users since a gift is a gift. Screw no crafting enchanted weapons of their own and lacking the capacity for powerful magic. I’d argue that enchanted weapons can exist and be potent, but due to limited technology with metalsmithing etc. there might be a heightened risk of enchanted objects breaking over time unless very carefully reinforced.
Arbitrary rules about how hunts are conducted are unnecessary and impractical. Hunts being strategic and being organized to each member’s advantage is fine, but anyone who is expected to be participating in hunts would probably be training for that from an early age.
In oral societies, meaning societies that specifically are NOT based in written languages, there are often ideas about “one true language” while other languages are considered barbaric or inferior. I think that works fine here. There are probably elves who can speak other languages, but those are inferior divergences from their true language.
Music and poetry being preferred art forms and value placed on transient things makes sense. However, I do think that architecture, pottery, utensils, tools, weapons, clothing, and other utilitarian objects would be far more artful than in some societies. None of those things are expected to last forever, but if something is going to be aesthetic in this society it makes sense for that to be paired with use value. Physical art existing only for art’s sake might not be practiced, but there’s nothing against art woven into daily function. I’d go so far as to say druids can play a huge role in the societies of jungle elves not just in terms of combat and agriculture, but as craftsmen and architects.
I think weapons made to be readily constructed and deconstructed seriously needs to serve a purpose if it’s going to be a factor. This isn’t the same category as something being easy to transport. If a weapon can be deconstructed EASILY, there might be a serious question of how durable that weapon is during a fight. Limits in materials are already going to be in place reducing the lifespan of weapons. They’re likely going to need to be replaced periodically as wear and breakage happen through use. Don’t nerf weapons further for arbitrary reasons. I don’t know that bone would be used so much as wood and stone. Aztec weapons looked like this:
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, there was a wooden Mayan dart gun that looked like this:
Tumblr media
Descriptions for how the dark gun worked can be found here. If these are coupled with poison too they could be insanely vicious.
Hide armor is fine and would probably be an important defense in a setting full of poison dart technology! Not overheating is just important too.
If there are sacred animals and animal companions are a major element for elves living in the jungle, it would likely (according to tradition and fauna) be jaguars, wolves, ocelots, tapirs, eagles, grisons, crocodiles, and so on. Outright, individualized spirit animals should probably be scrapped since there’s heavy debate on whether or how that could be used appropriately in tribal fantasy. Either thorough research is required, using the concept in a non-tribal way (e.g. Jungian psychology), or it’s just not necessary.
Fey gods and primal spirits as part of worship work fine, it might add further tension with humans and dwarves.
If enchanted tattoos are customary, I’d personally advise both checking to see what actual indigenous tattoos look like and then very carefully not ripping those off. Being inspired is fine, but these things can be sacred so it’s important to be respectful and avoid being exploitative or making a caricature.
Entirely male or female tribes don’t make sense with tiny populations that need to worry about being persecuted by other cultures, have small numbers, and occasional nomadic lifestyles. I could see gender segregation maybe if it was a very stable and stationary society where finding a partner and reproducing was super ordered and sacred and everyone knew exactly where everyone else was at all times. Not the case here. If anything, this seems like an instance where male and female elves would have more egalitarianism within mixed gender tribes due to low birth rates and long lifespans. Leaders could be male or female, hunters and craftsmen and medics and spellcasters could all be male or female. Rituals surrounding conception and childbirth are fine though.
Nomadic versus stationary lifestyles I think varies tribe to tribe depending on whether the strategy is run and hide from outsiders or hide and defend against outsiders with a fortress full of traps.
TROLL: Strength +4. Dexterity +1, Constitution +5, Intelligence -2, Wisdom -1, Charisma -2, Darkvision, Keen Smell, Regeneration, Loathsome Limbs.
Official Description:
Trolls are a ravenous, predatory species of giant-kin found throughout almost all regions and climates from arctic wastes to tropical jungles. They have several sub-species. All are uncivilized, monstrous creatures with voracious appetites that roam from one area to the next feeding upon whatever they can.
Most trolls are not overly territorial except with their own kind. They have no natural predators in the wild.
A typical adult troll stands around 9-feet tall on long, ungainly legs. Their deceptively thin bodies have thick, rubbery hides colored in shades of mossy green or putrid greys, possessing long arms that end in massive claws. The skull of a troll has a messy, hair-like growth colored black or steel grey. Females are typically larger and more powerful than males.
Although they walk upright, trolls possess a severe hunch which causes the backs of their hands to drag on the ground. When they run, their arms dangle. Despite their awkward physical appearance, trolls are surprisingly agile and well-adapted to be masterful climbers.
Troll senses are unbalanced. They possess poor hearing and sensitivity to light but superior olfactory senses.
Perhaps the most well-known factoid of trolls is their regeneration. Whether a slash in its rubbery hide or a dismembered limb, trolls can rapidly heal through most wounds. Only acid or fire can arrest the regeneration properties within a troll's flesh. Dismembered limbs will continue to attack opponents even after being severed.
Because of the regenerative properties of troll blood, it is extremely valuable. The blood that could be extracted from one troll is worth upwards of 400 gp. This green viscous liquid is used in the manufacture of poisons, antidotes and certain potions of healing.
Due to the adaptive nature of their physiology, trolls are especially susceptible to mutation. Although it is uncommon, actions taken throughout a troll's life could result in a physical or behavioral change within the same generation.
Trolls have little in the way of society. They travel in non-migratory clans of 3-12 and, upon discovery of an area rich with prey, will establish a lair. Caves are most favored, often located near smaller human settlements or just off established roads. They are opportunistic feeders who target those who stray too far from groups. Although they don't fear humans when encountered, they respect them as a group known to wield fire. Once established within a region, the band of trolls will hunt and devour as extensively as possible until all resources have been exhausted.
Troll dens are filthy places, led by a matriarchal shamanistic female who has a greater appetite for sentient flesh. This female-led dynamic extended into their faith as well, as each clan attributed their founding to a ancestor known as a great mother. They believe this being is a daughter of the ogre-deity.
Trolls have no language of their own, but speak giant and a guttural mix of common, orcish, goblin, and giant. Any culture they possess is passed down orally, usually kept within a single clan. Communication is often simple assertions for dominance or a mating female presenting a kill, along with a shared meal, to a prospective male.
Personal Commentary:
"All are uncivilized, monstrous creatures with voracious appetites that roam from one area to the next feeding upon whatever they can.” This is the kind of thing that needs to be eliminated. Not practical, not sufficiently interesting, not realistic or relatable.
“Due to the adaptive nature of their physiology, trolls are especially susceptible to mutation. Although it is uncommon, actions taken throughout a troll's life could result in a physical or behavioral change within the same generation.” This also has to go because Lamarck was full of it and that’s not how mutation works.
Time to rework this section into something wild.
Simple social structures that require little in the way of tools or technology works fine, but I do think certain elements are important and seriously do require recognition. First, if trolls wear clothes, paint, have tattoos, any of that at all, they have to be able to make them. That requires organization, some measure of intelligence, and a desire for those things toward a specific end. Even if “clothes” amounts to “a smelly, inexpertly tanned leather loincloth”, that still counts. Second, rope. If rope exists to tie garments on as per the picture, that is also a craft that trolls need to be capable of. To be honest it might even be useful to them if they want to transport prey alive to keep it fresh, if they want to fish, and if they want to construct even a crude form of shelter. The prey-preservation in particular is important since trolls prefer to eat without cooking their food, fire being a weakness of theirs. Even if they are highly resistant to bacteria, there’s a certain level of spoiled no animal’s going to touch and it’s important to maintain restrictions like that for added dramatic tension and risk.
Third, language. Trolls having any measure of oral tradition and capacity to communicate, particularly with non-trolls, is a huge deal. So while they don’t have to be the rocket scientists of the jungle setting, lets not treat them like animals here.
Territorial toward other trolls but not other species is fine. No natural predators is not. Other humanoids exist, coatls certainly exist, this is a fantasy setting full of dangerous shit and trolls are not the apex predator. Height and physical characteristics are fine, but I object to “hair-like growth”. Just call it hair, there’s no need to overcomplicate here. This is “blood orange” all over again.
Arms being long enough to be active inhibitions while running would not be a thing, fantasy DnD evolution would have phased that out. I’d be more open to trolls being knuckle-draggers than tasloi because it’s a major point that trolls are much more limited in their technology/intelligence, and this also reflects their lifestyle practices. Trolls probably move similar to great apes.
If troll limbs are not re-attached within a certain time frame, I think the severed limb should die and the troll-body needs to regenerate over time. Think like geckos with their tails chopped off. I’m not sure if trolls can or should be able to survive without brains or if they are capable of regenerating brains. These are the real questions.
More seriously, trolls probably have interesting ideas about death and distinct funeral rites since they’re so hard to kill once they’re established.
There’s a contradiction between trolls being non-migratory and trolls clearing out an area of all possible prey before moving to a new spot. I think very low-birth rates (anything else would just decimate the population given regenerative abilities), possibly high infant-mortality rates even within low birthrates, and non-migratory behavior all work. Travel presents risk, if a band of trolls knows they have established territory and how to defend their camp then that’s fine.
Other races might consider troll-dens filthy but I bet they don’t poop where they drink. They also probably either clean carcasses of all flesh or dispose of inedible bits. No need to raise risk of disease with spoiled food sitting around.
If there is religion, ideas of a great mother, tradition, and any level of shamanistic practice trolls need at least a little more intelligence as well. I’d go so far as to say there are probably very interesting spiritual chats among trolls. Food preparation (e.g. salting or seasoning) is likely important, making offerings to the deity is likely important, any clothes or shelters or ritual markings are likely important. Different trolls in a band have different jobs to perform, it’s likely very collectivist with shared kills and other resources but these are employed trolls here conducting skilled labor and by god they deserve respect.
Anyway, they probably don’t get along so well with other groups. It wouldn’t surprise me if trolls, while they have a super high threshold for bacteria and things spoiling, have developed immunity to diseases contracted by either cannibalism or consuming species that are too similar biologically. Trolls eating people is too consistent of a theme.
If a troll actually manages to learn Common, that troll is probably very smart and would act as a representative if there was ever a need for relations with other races. This could mean performing labor in exchange for goods and services, since money doesn’t mean much to trolls.
TABAXI: +2 Dexterity, +1 Charisma, Darkvision, Feline Agility, Cat’s Claws, Cat’s Talent.
Official Description:
Tabaxi are taller than most humans at six to seven feet. Their bodies are slender and covered in spotted or striped fur. Like most felines, Tabaxi have long tails and retractable claws. Tabaxi fur color range from light yellow to brownish red. Tabaxi eyes are slit-pupilled and usually green or yellow.
Tabaxi are competent swimmers and climbers as well as speedy runners. They have a good sense of balance and an acute sense of smell.
Tabaxi are a reclusive people who often avoid interaction with other intelligent races. However, as each tabaxi possesses a specific feline trait, some have an innate curiosity that compels them to travel and seek out stories, artifacts, new experiences and knowledge, never remaining in the same place or obsessing over the same piece of lore for too long.
In general, tabaxi do not care for wealth but they have an almost obsessive interest in ancient artifacts, relics and magic items, but not for the items themselves as much as the stories and secrets they hold. Once an item has been thoroughly examined and studied, its secrets revealed, it loses its allure and the tabaxi quickly lose interest and pass it on.
Not all tabaxi are motivated by curiosity to leave their homeland, however. Some find safer ways to satisfy their fleeting obsessions by becoming traveling minstrels and tinkers, often accepting interesting objects and stories as payment for their services.
Tabaxi are exceptional hunters and utilize these skills in combat. Speed and stealth combined with their natural camouflage mean that tabaxi are particularity skilled at surprise attacks. Tabaxi are even known to disguise their scent with aromatic herbs. Their hunting skills and intelligence make them formidable tacticians. Groups often drive prey into ambushes, sometime playing with their doomed foe before killing them. Tabaxi clans do have berserker warriors among them known as blood-stalkers.
For weapons tabaxi favor bolas, slings, macas, and javelins with atlatl. These weapons will often be made from wood, bone or stone. Tabaxi are just as likely to use weapons as they are to use their claws and teeth. Their preference of simple weapons is not due to a lack of capability. Tabaxi are quite capable of adapting to new technology or salvaged weapons.
Due to their knowledge of hunting, intelligence and sense of smell, it is practically impossible to trap a tabaxi.
Tabaxi society is built around clans. Clans are split evenly between males and females with 3 to 12 young. Each clan has several Hunts made up of two to eight individuals each. The Hunts patrol the area around the clan's lair.
Although tabaxi lairs are sometimes just temporary, they’re more often small villages of ramadas. Each ramada is built from wooden poles with grass roofs.
Clans are led by elders. About half of the time, leaders are aided by shamans. Clans tend to avoid each other and do not engage in trade. Tabaxi consider trade to be demeaning but in rare instances use third party agents to trade for them.
Tabaxi have few enemies and only the most degenerate clans attack members of other intelligent species without good reason.
Tabaxi are sometimes hunted for their pelts. Each pelt can be sold for up to 50 gp. Young tabaxi can be sold on the black market for around 225 gp.
Personal Commentary:
I used the official image, but jungle tabaxi probably look more along the lines of this:
Tumblr media
Just go full jaguar. It completely makes sense and is culturally/environmentally consistent. Being jaguar-based also means heavier, more muscular bodies. Big cat tabaxi don’t need slit pupils since jaguars don’t have them.
I’m not a fan of “each tabaxi has one feline trait”, it reads bizarre, inconsistent, and arbitrary. Just make them feline, with all the variation in personality that actual cats have. Curiosity being a strong cultural quality works. I’d argue hunting, (occasionally sadistic) play, social grooming, leisure, acrobatics, and physical competition all make sense too.
I tried to hold back talking about the elephant in the room, but both to avoid furry territory and in light of how many young are around at a given time tabaxi probably have eight nipples.
Tumblr media
I’m sorry, everyone. If we’re going hardcore serious DnD worldbuilding science this is the life that waits for you.
Stationary versus nomadic tabaxi territory makes sense, weapon preferences make sense, jobs and hunting strategies make sense. Tabaxi bards better be yowling and roaring and making exciting traditional cat sounds though. Also, controversial opinion I think tabaxi probably only bother with clothes if they’re living in a culture dominated by other humanoids. Their fur is great protection and camouflage already, why mess with that?
I don’t think most other groups would be hunting for their pelts or enslaving them in the jungle setting because jaguars were often viewed as sacred historically. Grung probably have no problem doing this but have little need for pelts. Trolls and tasloi might be a different story with skinning. Humans, elves, halflings, and dwarves native to the area I’d be surprised by those activities though. In human and dwarven empires while I suspect tabaxi were still subject to imperialism, they might or might not receive a pass on being used for sacrifice depending on whether it was viewed as a better tribute to the deity or heretical. Tabaxi were probably considered highly desirable as priests or clerics by other races, although those roles might bore them to the point that they’d need to be bribed with great food and various trinkets/finery. Tabaxi in canon have stigma against dwarves with albinism and I don’t mind keeping that as a source of conflict between the two groups.
But yeah. Simple cat people living simple cat lives.
HUMAN: +1 To All Ability Scores, +1 Extra Language.
Official Description:
They have lean bodies and angular features. The men never possess beards.
These humans, as a rule, are strong and intelligent but often lack wisdom in their decisions.
Their culture is largely warlike, and they were the first people in the region to practice human sacrifice. Religion is an important part of day-to-day society. There’s also a strong emphasis on aesthetics over substance. This could mean pyramids with grandiose mosaics and gaudy colors.
Personal Commentary:
Scrap those comments on “gaudy”, “aesthetics over substance”, and “lack wisdom”. These humans align pretty closely with the Aztecs in how they’re set up, and the Aztecs were insanely interesting so I’ll be referencing them a lot in terms of how jungle humans might operate.
Aztecs looked kind of like this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Meanwhile, their cities looked something like this:
Tumblr media
The Aztecs were very into conquest, more than the Mayans were from what I gather. There is a comparison chart here between the two civilizations (although I heard the Mayans were more focused on corn harvests) that might help avoid confusion somewhat. I’ll also be linking other research sources in this and the dwarven section since I’m personally tying humans to Aztecs and dwarves to Mayans. I don’t want to get too far off the DnD focus by splurging on research, so while I’ll provide links I’m mainly going to be discussing more fantasy elements.
Aztec History Lesson #1
Aztec History Lesson #2
One important exerpt:
“The Aztec Artists:
Stone workers who carved statues and other idols
Scribes kept records of events, decrees, and history
Painters of pictographs
Pottery makers used clay shaped by hand
Feather designers making head dresses and other adornments (usually for nobility and rulers). Feathers of brilliant colored tropical birds were used.
The Musicians and Dancers:
Instruments were rattles, whistles, flutes, bells, shells, drums, and trumpets
Dancers were trained at an early age. Every one in the village danced before the gods to honor, beseech, and praise.
The dancers acted out significant acts of the gods in attempts to imitate them.
Costumes were different for different ceremonies. Bright colors, bells, and elaborate feathers often were part of the most important rituals.”
If you’re going with a human bard based in Aztec tradition, rattles, whistles, flutes, bells, shells, drums, and trumpets are all fair game. Dancing is very much fair game, and both music and dancing would be big parts of jungle human society. Stonework, mosaics, scribes (written language existed!), pottery, and so on were also very much part of the setting. IIRC I’ve read that metalwork was not practiced among pre-Columbian Aztecs or Mayans, and wheels were  not generally used either. While artistic license DnD/people can always change this, IMO it makes for some interesting weapons and technology. Leatherwork and woodcarving would be massive industries. Human settlements being based on the banks of canals or rivers makes a lot of sense in light of this too, since it allows for easier transportation of heavy materials.
Jungle-based humans would be run on monarchies, but with high priests/priestesses being comparably high status to that monarch. Worship and the gods would be integral parts of society, and particularly given a human empire would be large and constructed through a combination of trade and conquest the population is high enough to allow for sacrifice provided everything else is running smoothly. Sacrifice, especially if the deities are receptive and can communicate their approval through clerics, could be used both to maintain obedience in conquered groups through fear and to ensure better ventures for the empire, such as harvests or hunts. If the conquered groups still benefit to some degree from sacrifice as absorbed parts of the empire, that reduces the odds of rebellion somewhat... especially if those sacrificed are revolutionaries or criminals. Tithes and rights would probably be different for non-native citizens, but if status elevation is possible through deeds of loyalty or significant contributions to the state that encourages patriotism in newly integrated groups.
Wizards, warlocks, and sorcerers would likely be important not only in combat, but in helping maintain cities and the crops that sustain them. Livestock, too, would be very important given heavy materials are used architecturally.
Because numbers are less of a concern and more resources are at the disposal of a human empire, I think greater flexibility being afforded with respect to gender roles makes sense. There are probably still restrictions on things like when it is acceptable to conceive for example due to health hazards, but artistic license with respect to jobs being based purely on how well a job is performed seems fine. A stable society has more room to experiment. Patriarchal polygamy can be practiced among the nobility, with the patriarchal aspect in place because biologically women can’t conceive and are expected to take it easy for the nine months they’re pregnant. A man, however, could continue making babies and working no problem. The issue in this instance is whether multiple partners would be supported by a single man during the time that they’re pregnant, so only very wealthy, high-status men would be able to support multiple wives and any children those wives had. Most likely the monarch had multiple wives and/or concubines, and some (but not all) nobles would be in similar situations. Common people would be more likely monogamous.
Textiles would be primarily cotton-based for accuracy and because it breathes better than say, wool.
Humans don’t need to have much stigma against other races because they’re approaching any relationship from a position of power. Likely there’s some tension with dwarves since (as I’m setting things up at least) dwarves are a major rival civilization and can compete in terms of resources, manpower, and territory. Yuan-Ti might be considered allies, particularly if there is a shared serpent god a la Quetzalcoatl (granted, Mayan) or if coatls...
Tumblr media
...are considered mutually sacred. Grung are likely on their own in terms of allies because they’re so prone to abducting and enslaving other races while holding deep-seated ideas of racial superiority. Any negotiations between humans and grung would likely be dangerous and with little trust lost. Members of less powerful races could be sucked into the empire, but depending on how a given group weighs costs/benefits of being part of the human empire they might have very different opinions about that.
YUAN-TI: +2 Charisma, +1 Intelligence, Darkvision, Innate Spellcasting, Magic Resistance, Poison Immunity.
Official Description:
Yuan-ti call themselves vrael olo (which means "favored ones"). Daily use typically uses the shortened "vrael", and can be modified to "auvrael" (meaning friendly or known yuan-ti) and duthrael (unfriendly or unfamiliar yuan-ti).
In general, the more serpentine features a yuan-ti possesses the higher its status in yuan-ti society. Abominations are at the top of their society, followed by halfblood, and finally purebloods. Within their subraces, yuan-ti are ranked by achievements and the demonstrated favor of their deity.
Whenever possible yuan-ti choose manipulation over open confrontation, the whisper over the fang.
Female yuan-ti lay eggs in brood chambers, mark each clutch with its parentage, then abandon them to the care of broodguards. Yuan-ti hatchlings are hatched from these eggs (which are always curious and eager to explore) and will seek food immediately. Hatchlings will even eat each other if sustenance is not at hand. Initial training and education is provided by broodguards, who monitor the hatchery. Young yuan-ti are trained in the use of their powers shortly after being born. They turn into tiny vipers and slither to the nearest cover when they see danger or hear a warning.
Yuan-ti in their prime will scheme, breed, and work on behalf of their tribes. Breeding is carefully controlled (seen as a holy act) in order to produce the "best" offspring. Prospective partners will coldly measure one another and if both agree that the match is promising, they usually mate, regardless of their personal affections towards each other.
Often elder yuan-ti grow lazy when they reach great age, sleeping or lying in torpor for longer and longer periods - first for days, then weeks, then seasons at a time, then finally years upon years. At last, they fail to wake at all.
Yuan-ti come in several distinct castes or breeds. The three most prevalent are as follows.
Purebloods: Appear mostly human, with minor reptilian features such as slitted eyes, a forked tongue, or patchy scales. They serve as diplomats and infiltrators pretending to be human.
Malison: Humanoid in shape, they have a wide variety of noticeable serpentine features such as a snakelike tail in place of legs, full scales, a cobra hood, a snake's head, and/or snakes in place of arms. Malisons, also called halfbloods, serve as warriors and temple assistants.
Abominations: Almost completely snakelike, with only a few human features, such as arms or a humanoid head. They are the most venerated within the yuan-ti society, serving as clerics or other roles of power.
Personal Commentary:
First, on the record there are too many opportunities to tie things to Quetzalcoatl not to play with Yuan-Ti. I’d even go so far as to say Yuan-Ti and aarakocra should sometimes mix to produce feathered serpent people for maximum aesthetic/sacred value. Second, I deliberately did not include a lot of things like the canon Yuan-Ti idea of divinity and their goal of destroying the world because I don’t think it’s needed or engaging for this setting.
I also think there should be fewer snake-headed yuan-ti within half-bloods because if you have the opportunity to make a naga just fucking do it. Do it for the early-2000′s internet that remembers these things and all of the consequences of that.
Tumblr media
I don’t have any major objections to information presented above, but I do think that there should be more influence from actual constrictors in particular. I think I remember them doing bizarre breeding ball activities rather than carefully selected mates and that’s bizarre and unsettling enough for me to say just go for it.
Also, snakes are kind of emotionally odd and don’t exactly experience bonding, morality, and emotions in the same ways that mammals do. This isn’t to say those things don’t exist at all, but it’s worth making a few adjustments so that the less pure a Yuan-Ti is, the more alien their perception and behavior reads.
Basically snakes are weird, it’s okay for Yuan-Ti to be weird too.
Also they are probably, similar to tabaxi, very in demand as priests and other spiritually significant members of human and dwarven societies. I don’t think they hide as much as elves or halflings unless they really want to avoid being brought into an existing empire, but they get some good resources and perks for being brought in (as with tabaxi, less likely to be sacrificed) so it’s not such a bad deal for them. Within Yuan-Ti societies they probably sacrifice more humanoid races and consider it EXTREMELY heretical to sacrifice more serpentine Yuan-Ti. If humans or dwarves are firm demanding sacrifices as tribute it’s going to be purebloods, and Yuan-Ti practicing human sacrifice themselves aren’t going to be choosing their own race or even tabaxi, aarakocra, or grung. They’re picking humans, dwarves, elves, halflings, trolls, tasloi, etc. They might even help humans and dwarves conducting ritual sacrifice provided the victims selected overlap with their preferred victims. Yuan-Ti also probably do have some notions of racial superiority, but it’s a little more subtle in its presentation.
As with other jungle races no wheels, no metals. They probably take steps to make sure they can be kept sufficiently warm as a cool-blooded race. I suspect they have neutral to positive relations with most races in this setting with the exceptions of trolls, grung, and maybe a few tabaxi tribes. They should have consistently positive relationships with aarakocra because again, feathered serpents. This is probably a specifically regional development and has a lot of history.
DWARF: +2 Constitution, Darkvision, Dwarven Resilience, Dwarven Combat Training, Stonecutting.
Official Description:
These shield dwarves are albinos, with white skin and hair coupled with pink eyes. This means that they were very sensitive to the hot sun and therefore only come above ground at night. Otherwise, they are physiologically like most dwarves.
Jungle dwarves are even more somber and grumpy on average than other shield dwarves. They are not especially violent, but they will defend their homes and mines at any cost.
Most dwarves live deep below the earth within one of many mines full of gems, minerals, and ore. They made use of surface animals as transportation and muscle during mining operations. Their culture revolves around the wealth of their subterranean mines, and they are superb craftsmen, particularly when working with gems and precious metals.
Tabaxi superstitions equate the color white with death, so jungle dwarves are often feared.
Personal Commentary:
Like I said for humans, no metalsmithing and no wheels makes for a dramatically different setup where dwarves are concerned. I’m going to go ahead and say the race isn’t purely albino, but does have a significant subpopulation with albinism that is prized as a beauty standard while being associated with luxury/not having to do so much grunt work. Dwarves with albinism would probably be given preferential status as clerics, wizards, or warlocks regardless of class, since they could be of use there while their efforts would be less productive in other areas.
Most cases jungle dwarves likely have a mid-brown or tan complexion and dark hair/eyes. They can still absolutely be nocturnal however, which especially if they are modeled after Mayans gives them more access to reading stars given innovations in astronomy and calendar systems.

And their cities looked like this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Important excepts include...
“Most artistic and cultural achievement came about during the Classic period 300 - 900 AD. The Mayans developed a complex, hierarchical society divided into classes and professions. Centralized governments, headed by a king, ruled territories with clearly defined boundaries. These borders changed as the various states lost and gained control over territory.”
“Anthropologists used to contrast the "peaceful" Mayans with the bloodthirsty Aztecs of central Mexico. Although human sacrifice was not as important to the Mayans as to the Aztec, blood sacrifice played a major role in their religion. Individuals offered up their blood, but not necessarily their lives, to the gods through painful methods using sharp instruments such as sting-ray spines or performed ritualistic self mutilation. It is probable that people of all classes shed their blood during religious rites. The king's blood sacrifice was the most valuable and took place more frequently. The Mayans were warlike and raided their neighbors for land, citizens, and captives. Some captives were subjected to the double sacrifice where the victims heart was torn out for the sun and head cut off to pour blood out for the earth.
The Mayan civilization was the height of pre-Columbian culture. They made significant discoveries in science, including the use of the zero in mathematics. Their writing was the only in America capable of expressing all types of thought. Glyphs either represent syllables or whole concepts and were written on long strips of paper or carved and painted on stone. They are arranged to be red from left to right and top to bottom in pairs of columns. The Mayan calendar begins around 3114 BC, before Mayan culture existed, and could measure time well into the future. They wrote detailed histories and used their calendar to predict the future and astrological events.”
“Excavations of Maya sites have unearthed plazas, palaces, temples and pyramids, as well as courts for playing the ball games that were ritually and politically significant to Maya culture. Maya cities were surrounded and supported by a large population of farmers. Though the Maya practiced a primitive type of “slash-and-burn” agriculture, they also displayed evidence of more advanced farming methods, such as irrigation and terracing.
The Maya were deeply religious, and worshiped various gods related to nature, including the gods of the sun, the moon, rain and corn. At the top of Maya society were the kings, or “kuhul ajaw” (holy lords), who claimed to be related to gods and followed a hereditary succession. They were thought to serve as mediators between the gods and people on earth, and performed the elaborate religious ceremonies and rituals so important to the Maya culture.
The Classic Maya built many of their temples and palaces in a stepped pyramid shape, decorating them with elaborate reliefs and inscriptions. These structures have earned the Maya their reputation as the great artists of Mesoamerica. Guided by their religious ritual, the Maya also made significant advances in mathematics and astronomy, including the use of the zero and the development of a complex calendar system based on 365 days. Though early researchers concluded that the Maya were a peaceful society of priests and scribes, later evidence–including a thorough examination of the artwork and inscriptions on their temple walls–showed the less peaceful side of Maya culture, including the war between rival Mayan city-states and the importance of torture and human sacrifice to their religious ritual.
Serious exploration of Classic Maya sites began in the 1830s. By the early to mid-20th century, a small portion of their system of hieroglyph writing had been deciphered, and more about their history and culture became known. Most of what historians know about the Maya comes from what remains of their architecture and art, including stone carvings and inscriptions on their buildings and monuments. The Maya also made paper from tree bark and wrote in books made from this paper, known as codices.”
“By the late 20th century, researchers had concluded that the climate of the lowlands was in fact quite environmentally diverse. Though foreign invaders were disappointed by the region’s relative lack of silver and gold, the Maya took advantage of the area’s many natural resources, including limestone (for construction), the volcanic rock obsidian (for tools and weapons) and salt. The environment also held other treasures for the Maya, including jade, quetzal feathers (used to decorate the elaborate costumes of Maya nobility) and marine shells, which were used as trumpets in ceremonies and warfare.”
“Mayan farmers grew Maize and guords. Maize was the main food of the Mayans which was prepared by the women in a variety of different ways. These included an alcoholic drink called balche, which was sweetened with honey and spiced with bark as well as flat maize cakes in a form of bread which are known today as tortillas. The Mayans also grew avocados, chilli peppers, squash and sweet potatoes.
The Mayans also cleared the forest floor so that small, edible plants could grow. Dogs were the only tame animals of the Mayan people. They raised turkey and honeybees in farms and hunted deer, rabbits and piglike animals. They also fished for shellfish and fish in rivers and the sea.
Chocolate was greatly loved by all Mayans, rich or poor. It was made from cocao and tasted very bitter. In order to sweeten the drink they added honey and chilli for spice. This was mixed with water and sometimes maize. The Mayans were very fussy with their chocolate drink and required froth ontop. In order to do this they would poor the drink from high above the cup or blow on the spout of the pot in order to mix air with the drink.”
Back to dwarves though. I seriously think it’s better to draw from the Mayans in this instance than just going with what DnD plopped down. Strict social hierarchy, strict calendar system, monarchy (possibly all consisting of dwarven aasimar) and high-ranking priest class (similar to humans) but with bloodletting a huge ritualistic practice conducted throughout society as part of standard religious practice. Sacrifice being used specifically with prisoners of war to set an example as offerings also retains historical consistency and makes sense as a means of intimidating enemies while getting DnD-style godly favor.
Temples, astronomical sites, and sports being important to dwarves also fleshes them out beyond stereotypes. Mining would NOT be a major cultural touchstone, particularly without metalsmithing. These would likely be above-ground dwarves whose craft focus manifested more in manipulation of various stones, shells, woods, and leathers. Dwarven cuisine in this region is also probably in-demand.
Physically, while body hair still exists I’d argue that due to the sheer heat and humidity it might be less prevalent compared to other dwarves. Ritual tattoos and scarring make sense, particularly given bloodletting practices. As with humans magic users likely play a prominent role in agriculture and architecture even outside combat. Also similar to humans, polygamy could be practiced among wealthy nobles but was not as prevalent outside that. One major difference that might be fun to utilize for dwarves compared to humans though, there were some cases historically of the Mayans having queens as opposed to kings.
The roles of Mayan women that I think would be worth continuing for dwarven women in the jungle would include bearing and raising children, economics, textiles, government, and religion (e.g. ritual practices). In some areas matrilineal bloodlines were prioritized, so I think that might be fun to do with the monarch since it guarantees the bloodline is pure. That also works if the monarchs are aasimar as per divine representatives. In non-polygamous households unfaithfulness could be fiercely punished by the wife, and in polygamous households there would often be fierce competition between wives.
Overall I think in terms of gender roles there can be a little more fluidity due to societal strength, stability, and influence, but class and profession are probably much more rigid.
There is tension between dwarves and humans, but dwarves have a more consistently positive relationship with yuan-ti and aarakocra due to heightened spiritual reverence for feathered serpent deities, coupled with their aasimar. Other races have similar dynamics to dwarves as they do to humans, but fear associated with the color white probably does create greater tension with tabaxi in particular. Grung having caste so strictly color coded might have slightly higher regard for albino dwarves due to the class specialization they tend to receive.
BONUS:
Tumblr media
AARAKOCRA: +2 Dexterity, +1 Wisdom, Flight, Talons.
Official Description:
Aarakocras resemble humanoid birds. The average specimen stands about 5 ft (1.5 m) tall and has a wingspan of 20 ft (6.1 m). Halfway along the edge of each wing is a hand with three human-sized fingers and an opposable thumb. An elongated fourth finger extends the length of the wing and locks in place during flight. The hands can’t grasp while flying, but they are nearly as useful as human hands when an aarakocra is perched and its wings folded back. Their powerful legs end in four sharp talons that can unlock and fold back to reveal another pair of functional hands. These humanoids have hollow, fragile bones. Their faces combine the features of both parrots and eagles. They have gray-black beaks and black eyes. Plumage color varies, but males generally have red, orange, and yellow coloration, while females tend towards brown and gray.
Aarakocras live among the highest mountain peaks in small tribes that control hunting territories and share a communal nest. The eldest male serves as leader, assisted by the tribe's shaman. Aarakocras are known to be extremely claustrophobic.
Personal Commentary:
Why use parrots and eagles when you can use quetzals?
Tumblr media
These birds are in the area and were commonly used to adorn clothing for Mayans and Aztecs. They’re pretty and distinct, too.
I don’t think wings-as-hands are necessary or make sense here. If the aarakocra has a twenty foot wingspan and halfway up that is where the fingers are located, the aarakocra has 10 foot long arms. It’s not useful. Just give them six limbs like an angel.
No mountain peaks in this jungle, and I don’t think communal nests are needed at all. There’s an opportunity to seriously, SERIOUSLY play with nest architecture here and I don’t see why that should be passed up. Probably there are also nest-structures for various aarakocra craftsmen, spellcasters, and spiritual leaders.
Aarakocra bards are probably fantastic, it’s all birdsong. They probably do well with bows and swords too because if their hands are free while flying they get different distance, speed, and position advantages. As a disadvantage, these are big bird people flying in an area full of trees so they can’t always reach maximum speed.
Aarakocra, like tabaxi and Yuan-Ti, are likely very desirable as priests for humans and dwarves. Like I mentioned for Yuan-Ti, I think they have consistent positive relations with Yuan-Ti and do sometimes crossbreed to form feathered serpent people.
Quetzals feed on fruits, berries, insects and small vertebrates like frogs. I’m going to say aarakocra are the only race to have developed immunity to grung poison, and they sometimes do eat them. Whether this constitutes cannibalism is up for debate. I think aarakocra also probably fish a great deal, cultivate fruit trees, and feed on other fauna in the area.
Thank you for reading, congratulations if you’ve gotten this far, and feel free to offer suggestions/critique!

I think a master list for long term roleplayers is such a good idea! I think if it delineates the reasons someone would do long term over short term, and makes sure to not prop up one style over another, it could go over well. I just wonder what a roleplayer would have to do to be listed. Rp a muse for over two years? Have a declaration they don't easily lose muse and keep muses for a long time by default? I think that's the hard part, because it would be easy to exclude people if done wrong.
Hey, Anon!
Well, I'll let you in a secret...I might have begun that project this weekend. So, it might (absolutely will be) be happening, and this message certainly made me feel good about it!
It also brings up some incredibly valid points I hadn't thought about, like how one would go about specifically designating RPers as long-term. As you said, it's got a potential problems for exclusion, and the only exclusion intended is simply not being a dedicated, long-term RPer.
I think the only fair way of doing it is to let the muns themselves decide. As it presently stands, the idea is to submit the answers to a form that does ask "RP experience (years and places)." I thought that might help muns field each other better, and now, I think it might be the fairest way of determining what "long-term" means to everyone.
If you feel like someone who has been RPing for two years with the same muse(s) is long-term enough, then it is! If that's not enough to hit your mark of long-term, no hard feelings even happen because you just keep scrolling the list to someone who has been RPing for ten.
I'll be rewording the question to have two parts, thanks to this ask! It'll now read something like, "How long have you been RPing (includes tumblr and other RPCs)? Has this been the same muse/handful of muses (what's your longest time RPing a muse)?"
That way, you're also not running into issues like...well, let's use me as an example. I've been RPing online for over twenty years, but have only been RPing on tumblr for seven. I've had one muse for almost seventeen years, but another one only for that seven years. If I was to answer just with my presence here on tumblr with that muse, that's far shorter than my total time RPing and doesn't include that I'm long-term enough to have had a muse for seventeen years. This way, I could customize my answer and give a fuller one.
I know we all tend to think of tumblr's RPC as rarely taking on new muns these days, but I meet them fairly often. None are new to written, online RP, but they've only just joined this RPC. I certainly don't want anyone to feel like they have to answer "six months" when that isn't entirely an accurate representation of their experience and interest.
The questions are also not overly skewed toward any single type of RP outside of the umbrella of "Dedicated." Meaning long-term, primary hobby/dedicated interest RPers who stick with threads and muses. So, while, yes, a lot of us are also into long replies, it's not excluding those who write less either. It asks your style(s) and gives the options of "sentence, para, multi-para, novella, lengthy novella." You can, obviously, put multiple answers in as to what you prefer to write!
Some additional things it asks for:
links you'd like to include (rules, promo, carrd, docs, bio, other)
types of RP concentrated on (angst, slice-of-life, canon-involved, AUs, romance and shipping, friendships, horror, etc.)
your URL(s), obviously!
blog type (single-muse, multi-muse)
muse/primary muses' names (if this is a multimuse blog with all muses in one place, if not, please designate which goes with which URL)
mun age/age range and age requirements
other things about your blog/RPing/muse(s) (hard limits, crossover friendly, OC friendly, plot-driven, selectivity, etc.)
I really want to give the widest variety possible of dedicated RPers the opportunity to put themselves out there if they desire, since it truly is incredibly hard to find each other anymore. And I believe that since such phrasing tends to be a turn off for those who are more casual RPers, that alone cuts down on the likelihood of me having to message someone and tell them that they might not qualify.
I do plan to actually look at the blogs, though that is definitely going to annoy some and take more time to get people's submissions posted. It isn't because I am remotely interested in being judgmental of anyone's blog, writing, muses, or whatever! It's...tumblr. In 2021. Leaving anything up to an honor system is asking for trouble, and as we've seen in the not too distant past, very unfortunately, no matter what one says, the effort they go to in order to not rub people the wrong way, if someone wants to misread negativity into something, they will. Any time you have the topic of types of RP or broach it being at all acceptable to have preferences, requirements, expectations, and so on, it can turn quite ugly quite quickly.
It is a serious concern that those determinedly offended parties will misuse the listing. While seeing too many red flags of harassment on a blog doesn't retroactively stop them from seeing the list of RPers, it does at least prevent them being on it. That is absolutely within the rules, too, that this is not a place that is friendly/tolerant of any manner of policing and resultant harassment.*
*There will be a harassment policy. I realize that any listing can be used inappropriately, and I realize, too, that there is a limit to what I can do to cultivate and maintain a safe place...but that needs to be done in so far as possible and taken seriously. Callout culture is absolutely not allowed, period. That won't be added to the list, if it's engaged in and I'm aware of it, it'll be a removal from the list. Inappropriate use of the list as a callout resource will result in blocking, harassing others to RP with you when you've been politely declined will result in blocking. Yes, that can be subverted, but the stance matters.
And, obviously, I'd also be looking for anything really glaring like the basic (and it's my intention to make it as clear as possible that these are variable things, we're all real people here, that it's repeat and extreme behavior only) parameters state. Things like incessant, flippant muse creation and collection when there is, right there stated repeatedly, not the time or creative energy to keep up with those already present. Or just as obvious blog/muse/fandom hopping. Again, a thousand times, if that's how you enjoy RP and engage with it as your hobby, that's perfectly fine. It's also perfectly fine that other people don't enjoy that and would like a space to find the comparatively tiny number of muns who want to engage with the hobby in the way they do. That's what I'm trying to do!
I don't have an estimate on when this might go live, as has been clear with my horrifyingly delayed responses, I'm very busy right now. Just know that it will be happening! I believe things will be slowing down, allowing me more time to do more than a couple of responses a week, roughly toward the end of October/beginning of November. So, I'm thinking it might be the first week of November.
That's a little bit off, but it does give everyone time to send in asks about it! If there's something you can think of that would be helpful (questions for the submission, the way it's set up, rules, whatever you can think of), please, do send it in. I want to know! I'm just one very busy, very tired mun trying to still be a dedicated RPer myself elsewhere lol I appreciate that sort of feedback! And the list is for y'all, you really should get to opine and suggest things!
Also, I did just think of something, opinions, anyone? Since it is a list that is open to everyone who fits the description, there will be blogs containing "dark content." While tags would catch the major, basic things muns might wish to filter, that can't possibly be expected for unique squicks and triggers. I don't want anyone getting specific on the listing, I think that could incite problems, but how about warning that the blog does contain such content, with the notation right there in the rules, use info, and posted listings themselves that it's advised to visit rules links first for details. I'd like to avoid anyone getting exuberant, clicking a blog URL, and seeing some graphic imagery they need to avoid. This way, if you do that, you have been warned...repeatedly and responsibly, and made your choices.
Obviously, that is dependent upon muns actually detailing what upsetting content might be present on the blog in their rules and not simply making a blanket statement that it exists. I haven't seen many RPers of this type doing that in recent years, but I'm sure that the increasing threat of harassment has negatively impacted this honesty and warning system. Still, at least this way, you'd be warned and could exercise your own judgment messaging the mun of the blog to ask for content specifics before you proceeded beyond rules.
Those are my thoughts, anyway!

MCU BINGO!
Tumblr media
Also check out the Schedule Page, FAQs Page, the Prompts Masterlist Page, the BINGOs and Scoring Page, the pre-made Themed Cards Page, and the Posting Template Page
Sign Ups open May 1st
How to play the game:
If you sign up during the month of May, you will receive a personal, randomized 5x5 BINGO card. During sign up you will pick five relationships and/or characters which will serve as the B-I-N-G-O at the top of the card. The spaces will have tropes/AUs/prompts, with a “free space” in the center.
Your goal is “fill” spaces by creating a fanwork using the relationship/character and prompt. This must be a new, previously unpublished fanwork which primarily focus on the relationship/character and prompt for that square. Fill enough squares to get a BINGO and earn points! Earn enough points and you’ll get a “trophy".
This fanwork event is actually a game. You are not competing against fellow fanwork creators, but simply against yourself. You decide how much or how little you want to achieve. Five small fanworks over the span of six months can get you one BINGO and a bronze trophy. Want to do more than that? Go to town! It’s entirely up to you. I encourage you to challenge yourself. Be creative with your pairings! Try a prompt or trope that you’ve never written before! Step outside of your comfort zone a bit (but not so far out that it becomes a negative experience, take care of yourself).
Eligible fanworks and fill requirements:
Fic - 500 words
Must be new work; cannot be previously posted anywhere
Can be a sequel/prequel/timestamp/etc, but should be able to stand on its own
You can link different fills together as a series, but each fill must be posted as in individual work (for example, cannot be all posted together as chapters in one fic)
Art - medium sized (around 400x400 pixels)
Podfic - 500 words
If you are reading a fic that is not your own you must obtain the author’s permission and include a link to the original work
Video - 30 seconds
Fanmixes - 10 songs
Must include a track list with a brief description of how the songs fill the prompt
Cover art optional
Relationships/Characters, how does that work?
This event is for the MCU, which means that any canon character within the Marvel Cinematic Universe and connected tv/netflix properties (Agents of SHIELD, Agent Carter, Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Punisher, The Defenders).
Relationships and Characters:
Any two or threesome of canon characters.  Threesomes count as their own unique relationship, so a fill for a prompt in a Luke Cage/Jessica Jones column cannot be Luke/Jessica/Danny. As listed above, “canon characters” are characters in the MCU and extended universe of tv/netflix properties (for non “canon” character see section below on “OCs”). There are no lines between the separate properties, so if Frank Castle/Sam Wilson is your jam, go to town, there’s no need to mark it in any special way. Whatever floats your boat!
You can also include teams: Avengers 1.0 - Tony, Steve, Clint, Natasha, Thor, Bruce; Avengers 2.0 - Steve, Natasha, Rhodey, Sam, Vision, Wanda; The Defenders - Luke, Jessica, Matt, Danny; Agents of SHIELD - (characters have come and gone from the show, so whichever version of the “main team” you define)
OCs and characters who aren’t in the MCU canon (but are in, say, comic book canon): For the purpose of this event OC will stand for “Outside Character”, thus it can include an Original Character or a character who is not in the MCU canon (For example, if you want to write some Tony/Rumiko, you would list it in your signup form as Tony/OC). If you have a character/OC column the OC does not have to be the same character for every fill (for example: if you have Steve/OC you can write one fill that’s Steve/some dude named Joe, Steve/Arnie Roth, Steve/some woman named Beth, etc). The OC label essentially functions as a controlled wild card giving you a range of options. However, the OC label cannot work as a backdoor for you to include 5 extra pairings, you cannot do an OC fill involving a canon character (for example, Steve/Melinda May cannot count in a Steve/OC column).
Characters: In lieu of selecting a pairing, you can put in just one character. However, this is not a carte blanche to ship that character with whoever you want. Single character columns are presumed to be gen. There can be some background relationship, but the main focus must be on the character themselves.
Gen: Single character columns are by default gen, but you can also have gen relationship and team columns. If you want a team gen column, just mark it as such (Avengers 1.0 - gen), this means that the fill should focus on the relationship of the team in a non-romantic/non-sexual way. You can also focus on gen relationships, which should be marked with an & (Matt & Foggy, Steve & Bucky, etc)
In your signup you must list 5 characters/teams/relationships. This list will be randomized, so even with a premade theme card (see below) you will have no control over which relationship/character is attached to which column. Can’t decide on only 5? You will have the option to get new cards with new relationships/characters and prompts periodically (see below). If you really, really can’t decide, then you can list more than 5 characters/relationships, but you will have absolutely no control over which 5 actually end up on the card.
What is not allowed?
Character bashing
Relationship bashing
Kinkshaming
Wank of any kind
Prompts:
The 24 prompts (plus free space) will be randomly selected from the
Prompts Masterlist
. The free space will be left blank, which means that you can choose the prompt you want to put there, but it must still come from the masterlist.
On the signup form you will have the option to veto up to 20 prompts. You can veto less than 20, or none at all, but you cannot veto more than 20.
If for some reason you need more than 20 vetoes, or if you receive a card and find that a prompt has somehow ended up on your card which you find triggering please message me.
If you message me requesting a change to your card I will do it, no questions asked. However, this should be a measure taken very seriously, such as if a prompt is triggering to you, not simply because you don’t “like” it. This game is meant to be a challenge! I encourage you to test your limits and stretch outside of your comfort zone; but I do not want this to become a negative experience, so don’t hesitate to reach out to me if you feel the need to.
If you’re struggling with a prompt, you can always try thinking of it in a different way, nearly all of the prompts could be interpreted in a variety of ways (“detention” could mean a high school AU where the characters are kept after school, or it could mean a canon-compliant fic where the characters are “detained” in prison; “baby animals” could mean that the characters adopt a litter of kittens, or that they get magically transformed into baby animals; or any other number of options). A prompt can also always be the lack of itself, for example “cuddling” could be about someone wanting more cuddling than they are getting, or someone who is touch averse and does not want any cuddling; the sky is the limit!
Getting a new card:
You are welcome to do as many fills and make as many bingos and bonuses with your card as you want. However, if/when you run out of fills/bingos you want to with your current card, there will be an open period during the last week of each month when you can request a new card.
However, you must have completed at least one bingo on your current card. You cannot work from two different cards at once; as soon as you get a new card, the old card is no longer valid. If you are an amnesty sign up, you can request new theme cards during card request weeks, but you cannot request a personalized card.
When doing a second BINGO for your card, or doing a bonus fill, you must create a new work. Even if you made a fill for your first BINGO using a certain square, you must create a new work using the same prompt in order for it to count toward a second BINGO or a bonus. Think about declaring BINGO as wiping your card clean - once you’ve included a work in a BINGO that work can’t be used again, you’ll have to write a new work using that prompt if you want to fill the square again.
So how do I declare a BINGO?
You will make a tumblr “masterlist” with links to each fanwork that applies to the BINGO you’re declaring using this Template. I will reblog your masterlist post, and include your BINGO on the round up post at the end of the month.
