Does anyone else thing the pirates in season 3 were severely underutilized?

Like, we had these guys with a vendetta against Din. They tried to space ambush him because he killed a few of their people. The Pirate King wanted Din’s head. They had a huge ship with more ships and who knows how many pirates in his employ.

I thought these guys were gonna be a real problem in the show, but like…

They were defeated so easily. It wasn’t hard at all. There were no stakes whatsoever. We saw them in the first episode, saw them again in episode 5 and defeated them that same episode. We didn’t even get to see the Pirate King fight! I wanted to see more of that mossy, seaweed face motherfucker! And then he just upped and died on his ship.

Idk just feeling salty tonight that they set up these great antagonists that looked so interesting, and then just…didn’t do much with them.

Honestly, it would’ve been interesting if the pirates were hunting Din much like the bounty hunters were hunting Grogu in season 1. Only this time it’s just Din they’re after. Hell, you know how interesting it would be if Din had gotten captured by them? Or cornered? Or something.

It’s just me being salty about season 3 hours

#don’t get me wrong #there was quite a bit I enjoyed about season 3 #but also #there was SO much that had potential that just went under utilized #so many cool things that they could’ve done but just didn’t #do you know how I woudlve cried if the ugnaughts in episode 6 had helped Din find the circuit he needed for IG-11 #they were LITERAL mechanics #that had HOW MUCH MACHINERY at their disposal #and the parallels wouldve been SO GOOD #kuiil being the one that brought IG-11 back to life and Din getting help from other ugnaughts to do the same thing #that would’ve had me sobbing #but NOOOOO he just happens to find the exact thing he’s looking for in episode 8 at the very end of the show #so salty tonight folks it’s unreal 😂 #din djarin #the mandalorian #mando #Mandalorian season 3 #Grogu #the pirates #pirate king #salt

I’m actually gonna come back for next season now since the set up for next season was great and I’m really excited for more bounty hunting shenanigans. And Bo Katan should be relocated to a more minor side character again, but I understand why she was more the focus of this season now it’s good setup for next season

Overall it was a really fun episode and I’m excited to see where they take it from here, even tho I’m disappointed that Din didn’t take his helmet off at all this season

my dad is continuing his Star Wars watch (and by extension I am also watching because once again I am home sick) and he's on Episode 7 which means unfortunately I am going to have to sit through and deal with Episodes 8 and 9

#not putting this in the tags cause this is a hater moment #I do legitimately love Episode 7 #but Episodes 8 and 9 I regularly pretend just dont exist #they did Finn and Poe soooooooo dirty and for what. to elevate Kylo Ren. who is a whole lot of nothing #im never forgiving them for retconning Poe's backstory so that they could make him the Latino drug dealer stereotype #or for shoving Finn to the sidelines and having his character do absolutely nothing but worry about Rey #I dont even like Kylo in Episode 7 but there was at least some potential #all wasted and squandered afterwards of course #I cannot fucking stand him he's so annoying #and the treatment of Luke's character. sickening #everything post-ROTJ in terms of tv and film has SLANDERED Luke as a character #the only thing that got him right was Mandalorian s2 finale #TBoBF was doing fantastic until the fucking. choice scene #have any of these writers ever watched Star Wars. do they know Luke. #anyways #so sad they didnt continue the sequels after Episode 7

season 1 was seriously so epic the way we have this protagonist who is not only faceless but also nameless like it was so epic the air of mystery and fun times peace and love on planet earth

#brot watches the mandalorian #im so many episodes away but now im reminiscing about his name reveal in chapter 8. GAH #ITS SOOOO GOOD i cant wait #you all know how i feel that the face reveal should have waited until chapter 15 #but the name reveal in chapter 8 was genuinely so fucking great #and half of that was because we went an ENTIRE season without knowing the main character's name it was a great buildup #post thats brought to you by the subtitles referring to him as The Mandalorian

where is Din in Mando 3???

If u follow me you all know I love Bo Katan (mostly TCW and Rebels Bo) but I can't express enough how confused I am thus far that Din's whole arc got COMPLETELY shafted this season, how he's barely in his own show and he has ZERO discernible arc at midseason ep 4. Baffling!

All his emotional beats building in season 1-2 got glossed over for focus on a secondary character (however glad I may be she is likely getting a spinoff), and how we have gotten zero substantial moments of quiet growth/bonding btw Din and Grogu - the show's two main characters - which was paramount to the show's popularity.

We also, mindbogglingly, have gotten pretty much zero substantial growth btw Din and his covert thus far - (apart from Din saving Paz's son and Paz having a son who would interact with Grogu which I predicted after ep 1). This was merely a brief interaction which was based on an action set piece rather than any real plot growth.

There's been... no philosophical conversations between he and the armorer, HE DIDNT EVEN REMEMBER THE LIVING WATERS AT ALL lol, no one in his clan has questions about Mandalore????? he didnt see the Mythosaur, Grogu didn't do anything of note spiritually in the mines, no convos with anyone about what he's been doing since being exiled (or people avoiding it to show it's a weird topic for them).

and for all the show's defacto focus on Kryze this season our main character Din rarely says more than one offhanded word to her at a time, indicating no real narrative purpose of fostering any burgeoning clan cooperation there. she interacts far more with Grogu.

if anything the show avoids conversation between them as I predict she is set to depart for her own spinoff and they don't want too many restricting ties with The Mandalorian.

as always, I enjoy Filoni as a writer (TCW was a masterpiece) and I have to give him credit for offering some more substance in ep 4 with a covert-based mission and showing us some insight into the clan training, eating traditions etc. but yeah, crumbs.
