i didnt expect his character stories to hit so hard 😭 i get the feeling that they really put in the effort to weave his viewpoints and why they both work and fall apart. I feel like he's also the dev's take on art in an increasingly capitalistic environment + artblock... its all so wordy and poetic i kinda love him.

You know something I've kinda wished we had in Wizard City in particular is like. Our wizard being main homies with supporting characters

So like of course everyone knows I love Nolan Stormgate but what about Penny Dreadful and Mindy Pixiecrown and Malorn Ashthorn and Susie Gryphonbane and (pre-updated) Ceren Nightchant. Even in the Old Tutorial they were pretty charming characters for like the one or two minutes we spent time with them and they were involved with some pretty important quests lore-wise and there were some little inklings of like a bond between them and The Wizard by the time we parted. But we like Never See Them Again and that slightly upsets me

Y'know how Wizard101 likes to have returning NPCs from other worlds appear like every 10 years so like. Can we do that with the original Wizard City gang??? In my personal opinion I am a SUCKER for "blasts from the past" and Kingsisle has definitely done some of those, can't we just have a few quests where we meet up with all of them again. Like all sitting at a lunch table in the school we all attended together before The Wizard was diagnosed with Main Protagonism and we've all obviously grown up a bit since the first arc. You guys don't understand how much I would CRY snot and tears,

Princess Tutu had a surprisingly great ending. It's almost cathartic for a story that's about stories and endings to stories to have a pretty good ending itself.

we're watching pride and prejudice (2005) in class and we're only about an hour or so in but i gotta say. this movie is not nearly as good as tumblr made it out to be

#I blame it on me reading so much about the Napoleonic wars recently #I’m reading The Lady Tars and I just saw a painting of the Battle of St Vincent and it kinda just clicked #and I thought about yeah all the people who’s stories are told are the officers and midshipman and those few who are recognised for #outstanding acts and such #but war’s war and the absolute horror that comes along with it #also I was a MASSIVE Poe and Stephen King fan as a kid #as much as I write fantasy and comedies and such - I got my roots in horror #the Fucked Up of True sort lol #ALSO I was just thinking about this book I read when I was 15 - the knife of never letting go #and having just been on a run of the Aubrey Maturin novels and a reread of Left Hand of Darkness #it was only inevitable I’d write something #I wanna write historical fiction but I always end up in horror territory lol #anyways I recently started listening to The Crane Wives! ‘Take Me To War’ is a banger #anyways #this isn’t for nanowrimo I just had to write it down before I forgot #I’m gonna redo it - the core of it got kinda muddy #also I’m high on a little coffee #feels good to feel creative again! #I’ve been so low lately I love it! #also I really like reading old logs and newspaper clippings about military actions and the numbers kinda got me thinking #impersonal violence man.

OMG!!!! Why did I assume that both Minhyuk and Maya knew Alyssa was related to Shinae's incident. It seems so unlikely after that Fast Pass. So, Maya doesn't like Alyssa simply because she overheard her badmouthing Shinae. And I doubt Minhyuk knows anything about the girl drama unless someone clued him in. Alyssa could've left the school without anyone ever finding out!

I am absolutely going to answer things out of order, I'm SO sorry! This one just feels most prevalent with regards to this week and last week's FP. I'm so sorry I didn't get this answered last week, but I would like to preface this with the note that you sent this to me immediately following FP ep 201, just because 202 better confirms things you brought up.

You also bring up something that I'd like to get deeper into, and I'm going to try to get a separate post going with all of that!

As usual, spoiler thoughts follow under the cut (though for once it's not very long!)

I think we all were under the impression they all knew about Alyssa's involvement and how it happened! In all the times I've ever talked about it, I certainly operated under the assumption that there were more teachers involved, that someone would have witnessed it, that there discussions with parents. But to know that Alyssa probably went home school that day and begged her parents to take her out of school and probably never told them what happened is so shocking. I've talked a lot about how I had a feeling she never really got to deal with those feelings, whether talking to a therapist or her parents, but I can't believe it's so much worse than I ever thought. Does Meg even know? I get the feeling that she does not!

Before 202, I was definitely thinking Minhyuk also didn't know, because surely if Maya, who had actually been at school, had no idea, I can't imagine word of mouth would have gotten to him, either. Something even more interesting to note is that scene where Shinae finds an Alyssa ad out while she's shopping with Maya and Maya is SO flippant about it like, hey I know she's your ex bestie and all but she SUCKED. And with what WE knew even then, it seemed like such a FRIVOLOUS comment to make about the person who pushed Shinae, didn't it? But now that we know she doesn't know THAT part, just that Alyssa was, indeed, a sucky friend who Maya thinks Shinae has no reason to miss is like... wow.

I think there's a lot we could read further into re Maya but I think I'll save that for the aforementioned post where I can gather all my thoughts together and try to be more coherent, but yes, I think that's a good summation of it. Like, even though Maya has her grudge and hadn't resolved her own feelings, I think she knew well enough as an outsider that the way Alyssa treated Shinae and acted with her was nasty and not fair to Shinae. Again, something I enjoy about this story is that there is nothing that is truly black and white. Maya may have her own grudges and doesn't like Shinae for her own reasons, but she can at the same time dislike Alyssa for how SHE acted. There's just so much depth that I really enjoy, all these layers that continue to peel away.

I think the lack of knowledge about Alyssa's involvement really affected how Minhyuk turned out in the present. I mean, to be fair, all of 201 showed us how the characters were affected and turned into the versions of themselves we met in the present, but I'll get into that a little more in that separate post, but the unknowing is probably WHY Minhyuk was so overly protective even to this day. The combination of knowing that Shinae was being bullied but her private nature and refusal to open up left him trying to answer questions that she would not. It makes so much sense now why he goes overboard in the future - he's far too used to Shinae telling him she can handle things and taking on more than she should, even before the formal. And after she finally broke and told him everything going on, all of the things she can't handle, all the ways she's been struggling with? Minhyuk finishing his classes early to hop the earliest flight home so that he can go investigate her place of work makes perfect sense and seems like a logical reaction in his place. Not to be dramatic, but the impact this one incident had on so many characters is really huge! Not only Alyssa and Shinae but Shimhan, Maya, Minhyuk, maybe even Shinae's math club teacher? What an awful incident to deal with, and when you don't have all the pieces, how do you learn to make peace with it?

I guess I want to put all of the 201 and 202 stuff #in one post if i can because BOY DO I HAVE A LOT OF THOUGHTS #but most especially i think it's that 201 really demonstrates how much this incident affected not only Shinae but EVERYONE #again i know people have their feelings about this whole arc but it's clearly important to quimchee to highlight the full effect of this #incident. it wasn't just how it affected Shinae it was how it affected everyone connected to her including Alyssa #I fully believe this is going to be a continuing theme as we go further into the story or else there would have been no reason to spend so #time on this. but also i think some people read this story one way when it's written another and like i'm not saying you can't do that but #i guess it's like... sure you can want to see certain things happen in this story and yearn for romance and stuff like that but #trauma is and has always been a root of this story and it's all grades of trauma it's how it affects the ways we connect and grow #the way it can stunt that progress and blind you the ways that your own trauma can hold you back the way you can play a victim when it' #the only role you know the way sealing yourself off isn't the protection it seems #and in order to get deeper into that we have to get deeper into the meat of the story #i'm sure in time we'll have a similar arc with Nol where we get to visit all the things we thought we knew and have those flipped around to #or the things we can only speculate on #and thus i want to talk a little more at length about 201 and 202 together! #i just have such STRONG feelings over these recent episodes like listen i read 201 and i just started CRYING it was SO HARD #just the sheer helplessness the futility the way it began to eat at her and it just NEVER stopped until recently and UGH how it all BLEW UP #I HAVE! I can say that even though I’m enjoying jjk a whole lot, I feel like the plot is going up and down because of there being too many characters introduced in the latest arc and not adding much to the story like at all other than to be a slotted in antagonist… like.

one of the things i love the most about writing a story/potential book about bands/music is that i literally put all of my interests there. i couldn't do this if i didn't asdfgfdsa

#this thing carried such a negative meaning in a lot of senses (the story being my only way to voice so many negative emotions blah blah) #but at the same time the one big positive thing that i always had clear about it was the fact that since it was about music it had to be a #celebration of it. and specifically of the music that *i* (the author) love and enjoy so much #music is literally one of the most important things for me it TRULY is so having that as the bright side of such a story is just. the best #my greatest choice ever made was making it about musicians because YES it has so many cliches and many things that sound overdramatic #but that's not the point!!!!! music is!!!!! #i always make it clear characters and situations are just a way to put certain emotions into words. and half of them are negative #but then there are so many positive ones and it's always related to music #so like. when i write my main character being a pearl jam fan or a springsteen or fiona apple fan it's like. yes. he is!!!!!! but ALSO #that's me. and its some sort of tribute to all of those artists that literally were life savers for me #and ssame with the rest of the characters!!!! them having their musical roots related to 70s/80s rock and some punk and some britpop. same! #every chapter named in a way to make a reference to a song? that too!! #(also matt saying he'll travel to alice in chains unplugged if he could travel back in time..... so true bestie) #but my point basically is this asdfdsdfgh

Me: I'm fine about my autism now btw, like I've come to terms with my fixated interests, limited tolerances and social inabilities. The alienation it brings is not ideal but it's just a reality I've gotta deal with now that I know it's just a part of who I am. i've still been feeling bad about things not working out with the sad neighbor lady with the busted leg, even though SHE was the one who 180ed and pushed me away, but then i start thinking about all the shitty little -isms (mostly race) she said, some of which i confronted in the moment & some that i picked my battles over given the circumstances, and then i feel less bad :)

Okey :3 before I forgor, I wanted to share one of my favorite videos to watch during the Holy Week and also Halloween because I'm a scaredy-cat and love times when my family gets together and the group conversation turns to the topic of local legends, hauntings, or strange experiences anyone has had.

One of my favorite channels is Homonica, here is a link to the video she made sharing stories from her family. I don't know how much it differs in other countries, but in Mexico, for the most important week of the year, people aren't supposed to go out (especially for Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and Saturday of Glory/Sabado de Gloria (you know because they killed Jesus and he's in the tomb, it's supposed to be a somber time of contemplation etc, it's a very spiritual time)).
