Thoughts about Kaveh's story
Me, when I think about the fact that Haitham lives in a house that was supposed to be a research center. The research center where he and Kaveh were supposed to work on their project. The project during which he fell out with Kaveh. Kaveh, who was his best friend, the one he cared about. The fact that Al-Haitham, who doesn't like inconveniences, went through trouble to buy and convert the research center into a place he could call home. Why exactly this place? Because it reminds him of the friend he had and the time they spent together.

So, either Kaveh has the perfect artist's calluses and doesn't want the claymore to mess with them, either he started with a catalyst and switched to claymore to compete with Alhaitham's sword(s)

drunk kaveh ~ (angst/comfort)
i imagine it is a frequent occurrence that when Alhaitham tags along with Kaveh to the tavern to keep an eye on him, drunk kaveh loses all object permeance.
Alhaitham goes to use the restroom, and Kaveh goes to get more drinks at the bar. By this time Kaveh is fairly intoxicated, and once he’s returned to their booth, he gets that sinking feeling in this gut. And poor Kaveh, his head fuzzy and swirling, can’t seem to understand where this is coming from. He drinks more trying to wash away this horrible feeling, but it keeps deepening, and now he’s feeling very alone. Where had Haitham gone? Why was he alone? Why did he leave? God he misses him, and his heart twinges with ache. Why was he always left alone? Kaveh starts losing sense of his surroundings, laying his head on the table. He can’t help the tears that stream from his eyes onto the wood. He hates this feeling. This deep ache that consumes him and tears him apart. Why did he have to be alone. Properly sobbing now, Kaveh’s world is confined to only his brain, the alcohol twisting his perception of what is around him. That cloud is broken when he feels a cold hand on his shoulder.
“Kaveh, are you alright? What happened?”
Haitham had returned, seating himself next to Kaveh in the booth, concern heavy in his voice. He’d only been gone a few minutes and his boyfriend was now a teary red mess.
“Hey hey hey, it’s ok I’m here. Hey, Kaveh, It’s me. Look at me.” Haitham took Kaveh’s face in his hands, helping him sit up. Those carmine eyes stared at him glossy and so weary, Haitham’s chest hurt to see him this way. Kaveh wasn’t saying anything, but his tears had subsided.
“Kaveh, let’s go home ok? I think that’s enough for tonight.” His boyfriend only nodded and sank into his shoulder, his tears soaking through his shirt. Alhaitham, after trying to maneuver Kaveh out of the booth with difficulty, decided it would just be best to carry him home.
Face still pressed to his shoulder, Kaveh had his arms draped around Haitham’s neck, legs wrapped loosely around his torso.
“Kaveh, love, what happened?” the blond’s breathing had settled a bit, and his tension began to ease in Alhaitham’s hold.
“Thought.. you left me again Hayi..” his response mumbled by fabric.
“Hey” he said softly. His boyfriend turned to look at him this time. “I am never leaving you. Not again, ok? Haitham pressed a soft kiss to his forehead, tucking a blond strand behind his ear.
“ok” he replied, almost a whisper, gripping the scribe a little tighter.

Babe wake up Kaveh leaks just arrived
WHAT IS HE HOLDING ONT OTHE SUITCASE FOR??? EMOTIONAL SUPPORT??? icantttt im more offended that he just holds it there doesnt even smack someone with it Kaveh the first character who is just a guy. he does NOT look like he belongs in the middle of a fight. Not to underestimate the love of my life, but he’s really just the normalest guy in comparison to the other characters whooshing around with their weapons.  And I thought Alhaitham was lazy, but this mf just stands there looking pretty, holding onto that handbag.  swinging it around like an anime schoolgirl
Tumblr media
That is a whole protractor.  He uses a protractor to deliver that mathematically accurate strike <33 Anyways, I want like 57 copies of him

holyfrick. wait. kaveh. he's kinda so relatable to me
Tumblr media
i didnt expect his character stories to hit so hard 😭 i get the feeling that they really put in the effort to weave his viewpoints and why they both work and fall apart. I feel like he's also the dev's take on art in an increasingly capitalistic environment + artblock... its all so wordy and poetic i kinda love him.
more of my faves from his lore:
A person who wished to ascend to the garden of heaven upon steps made of thin air would inevitably plant their feet on an empty stair and fall to their death. As a genius, Kaveh longed to belong in a crowd, subconsciously fearing separation from it — this was the difference between him and Alhaitham.
People should not give up, for even if they are doing good in an attempt to make up for something, the results will still have meaning for some. Even if he could not enter that promised land of his ideals, that did not mean the radiance and the attraction of such a realm should be denied.
Page 31: Some academic notes and architectural drawings. Postscript: "Our views are aligned, and they are complete." This line has been struck out. "Our views are contradictory, but it is through contradiction that more speculation and philosophy may be born." This line has been retained.

Kaveh story quick summary
(for myself mostly, but if someone doesn't want to read all and everything then yeah, here is the shorter version)
Story 1:
Nothing out of the things we would already know. He works hard, he got in debt and hides it quite well because he's bound by all the titles how other people perceive him.
Story 2:
He feels guilty that his father died and that his mother has been miserable ever since. After she left too, he's been lonely, and these feelings kept him up all night. This guilt was what made him so compassionate - he doesn't want people to be harmed by his actions, like his parents were.
>>He cannot accept pure goodwill, for when he makes choices, he believes that he should be punished, and finds some comfort in the pain.<<
I think he sacrificed the house on purpose and then decided himself to pay rent.
Story 3:
Tells about the beginning of his career after graduation and his first hardships in a professional manner.
>>his ideals and career goals were, as a certain someone had said, not easily attainable<< Who's this certain someone? *squints eyes*
It was also after he graduated that art has been treated as lesser compared to academics. Various of his beautifying suggestions were laid off because they weren't necessary. He doesn't agree with any of these, though.
His mother married again in Fontaine, and he was present there, she was happy, and he was happy for her and because she wasn't miserable anymore.
The mere act of sitting on the sofa tormented him with heretofore unmatched solitude. Here, he felt the old adage of all wise scholars being fulfilled: "Do the right thing, no matter what it costs you."
Story 4:
It is about how Dori commissioned him, and it sounds as if this project saved him. He was allowed to do ANYTHING, all the artistry and that.
They were almost done, but then the Withering came and destroyed everything. Kaveh begged Dori to let him finish it. And paid for it from his own pocket. So just like I have been predicting from the very beginning. He sold his house, put his private savings into it and everything left from Dori's funding. The rest was financed by a loan from her.
Story 5:
Alhaitham might not be younger than Kaveh - he enrolled later in age than other's (and exactly 2 years after Kaveh, so another point for me for the 2 years difference, even if not for certain in age, then in their classes at least).
It just says about how they met (in a library), started working together and were so smart and so goo, nobody could keep up with them. So Kaveh was trying to help the others who were doing this project with them.
As Alhaitham liked to put it, certain matters have their upper limit determined by talent and their lower bound determined by hard work. Ordinary people and geniuses would be separated by various practical realities, and they did not have to force themselves to fit into a group they did not belong to. Kaveh, however, was resolute in his belief that this was all the result of obstacles that appeared during the process, and that wisdom should be uncovered by many people.
That's what first caused a conflict between them, and I have to say, this one is hard to overcome. Especially if they are both bloody smart people, and both very stubborn.
Kaveh maintained that Alhaitham was too much of an egoist (...) Alhaitham for his part pointed out that Kaveh's impractical idealism was just a flight from reality, and that it would come to be a burden on his existence someday, and the source of Kaveh's altruism was naught but his inescapable sense of guilt.
Pointing back to the Story 1 because he's so right for that. So right, that this was precisely why they parted. And were criticizing each other's works. Kaveh was also forced to face the reality all over again, as yet another of his projects failed due to financial reasons.
As a genius, Kaveh longed to belong in a crowd, subconsciously fearing separation from it — this was the difference between him and Alhaitham.
Putting it here because this exact trait of Alhaitham is what stuck with me when I first read his stories.
Fast-forward to the present times:
He was sleeping in a tavern and once even passed out after one bottle. That's where he met Alhaitham again. And that's where he told him about all his problems.
Alhaitham then takes him home.
Knowing full well that Alhaitham never did perform a good deed unconditionally, Kaveh would be plagued by guilty conscience and proactively mention helping with household chores, only to become saddled with all the domestic errands… These might be an annoyance for someone at a low point in life, but they are also proof the most unshakable part of one's past is a friend that will never change.
Rationality and sensibility, language and architecture, knowledge and human feelings… Things that can never be integrated are what constitute the two sides of the mirror — indeed, of the entire world.

you got a 9-5, so i’ll take the night shift
kavetham / 463 words
# spoilers for kaveh’s backstory, angst, metaphorical mentions of blood and gore slightly (?), short drabble to get this out my head, not proofread
Tumblr media
Kaveh has been through heartbreak. Plenty of it, actually. He knows the feeling all too well. The dread hammering against your skull, bones heavy as lead. And even after the worst has supposedly passed, you’re still left feeling like nothing but an empty husk of who you were before.
However, the upside to this is that he’s prepared. Kaveh pulls through, always, never failing to find a reason to keep marching tall and proud. When his father died, it was for his mother. When she left, he clung tight to his studies and career, and that’s been his lifeline for as long as he could remember.
But this. This is different. It feels like his very being is actually being ripped out of him, leaving behind untethered heartstrings and memories floating, confused, in the space left behind. The pain is searing and slow.
And when he looks up through bleary eyes, he sees Al Haitham towering over him, holding his heart in a tight grip. His face is stoic. Even at a time like this… I can’t seem to read you. After all this time.
He feels so. Small. So small under Al Haitham’s cold, critical gaze. Under his sharp tongue and harsh words, prodding and poking at Kaveh like he was another one of his Akademiya projects.
Well, it was bound to happen sooner or later, wasn’t it? Everyone has their limits. Kaveh shouldn’t be surprised. He’s always been hot-headed. Bad tempered. Annoying. Stupid.
He’s staring at the apartment door, which had left hanging open into the gaping darkness. Al Haitham is gone, and for the first time, Kaveh feels he might not return.
He didn’t even close the door. Would he even care if someone comes in right now and murders me? Would he care if he came home and I was gone?
Kaveh had not planned for Al Haitham to burst into his life like he had, but he had also certainly not planned for him to walk out just as easily.
Does he know how much he hurt me?
The bandages he had so carelessly wrapped around his old wounds were slipping off, falling to the frigid floor. Kaveh dropped to the ground right alongside them as the blood rushed to his head, the weight of the world and his past on his shoulders.
Does he know that’ll be the last time?
How could one be so… undoing? Make him feel so weak? Pull his soul apart with his own careless fingers, intentionally or not?
The remains of a broken vase lay across from Kaveh’s shaking fingers. Only now does he notice the fresh bloodstain on the shattered porcelain, tracking out of the door and disappearing into the night.
I’ll never see you again, if I can help it.

Guess who is now thinking about just when did Kaveh’s mother leave to build her new family in Fontaine and if their ages would fit for Fischl to be his half sister.
