#so if we have to see to believe - how many cases of real world functioning equity does the average person understand?
Text
Me: I'm fine about my autism now btw, like I've come to terms with my fixated interests, limited tolerances and social inabilities. The alienation it brings is not ideal but it's just a reality I've gotta deal with now that I know it's just a part of who I am. I mean, it's not like an awkward conversation is gonna ruin anyone's life, is it? We'll both move on from it eventually. This is fine!
Also me: physically unable to watch beyond the first word of the first question of The Assembly because oh my god what if someone says something awkward or controversial or someone can't make themselves understood people are gonna get mad and scream about it online and I will freeze up and be stuck in the backlash forever I don't know how to handle conflict AT ALL let's just hide in the corner behind the sofa instead wait what if I became a hermit actually yeah yeah yeah that sounds good let's do that
#unresolved trauma? never even heard of her haha 😅#maddie debrief#that 2-minute intro/taster did nothing to calm me down either btw#I'm never comfortable around the types of shows where 'difference' becomes the core conceit of the premise#oh. so you've created a format dependent on making a socially alienated group face the social rules that made them alien in the first place#and then deriving your conflict from the 'natural contradiction' between the two?#sounds like the exact kind of conflict-seeking environment where I can let my normal guard down enough to meaningfully challenge#my deeply rooted feeling that people generally find me cumbersome to be around and mostly just tolerate my presence out of necessity#lovely that#(like i say I haven't seen the show#so idk if it is actually like that or if it's just the promo material stirring shit up as per usual#but as of rn I do not feel welcome in this room)#why does the 'we're not so different after all' always have to come at the climax and never the midpoint of the story?#why can we never find more than personal gratification in that realisation?#why do we always focus on the difficulty of coming to the realisation rather than the conflict of putting the realisation into *practice*?#I know why#it is because the human imagination is far more limited than we like to believe#and we find it hard to even *imagine* a world that we haven't seen functioning for ourselves yet#let alone find a purpose in *acting* on the idea#(especially if we ourselves currently feel dependent on the status quo for our personal welfare#which is why shows made to depend on 'difference = conflict' make my blood run cold)#so if we have to see to believe - how many cases of real world functioning equity does the average person understand?#very few. so let's instead lazily invert the state of power in an existing dynamic that people are familiar with#thereby reaffirming its false dichotomy through perpetuating what is essentially the same old conflict#while claiming to subvert it when in fact all we have done is reverse the dominance while keeping everyone locked in their roles#can someone just put some thought into how we might create a format that aims to loosen up the underlying skewed power dyanmic#so that everyone has to work together to prevent the elevation of a single way of being over all others#because that just becomes suffocating to *everyone* in the end#and that can still *acknowledge difference* but not as a source of conflict - rather as a source of collective strength?#but the story of changing one perspective will always be easier to both tell and enjoy than the one about building something new

what would inklings think of humans? would it kinda be like the same way we think of dinosaurs, or something...?
also since people in the real world have dinosaur ocs, would inklings would have humanoid ocs.......
(i have no idea how to word this question right srry)
I assume Inklings think of humans much like dinosaurs, but what I feel largely fits the "dinosaur" role in the Splatoon world would be extinct animals and especially mammals because of how bizarre they are. Marine mammals are probably the most known, seeing how we see whale imagery and mentions a lot, and very likely Inklings would find familiarity and insane cool factor in stuff like whales, dolphins, sea lions and the like given that they used to share a habitat directly and in many cases, those animals were top predators. But that's besides the point.
I'd like to think humans are relatively well-studied in the Splatoon world, I mean, there were A LOT of humans. And while a lot of human remains were probably washed away and lost forever into the depths of the ocean, we know from the game that a lot of it remains to this day, to the point where human bones can just kinda be found if you go digging pretty much anywhere. Aside from just human bones, human items and especially ruins of buildings remain, and I believe a lot of Inkling architecture and technology was studied and replicated out of a lot of the things that the humans left behind.
For example, if you take the human fossil and the Wii U in that one sunken scroll at face value and say "yeah that's real", that's the scope of niche stuff that would've survived. And obviously the comment of that scroll implies that Inklings dont actually understand shit about humans or anything at all, considering playing the Wii U is described as "some kind of ritual" and they're theorizing that humans must've had very low intellect due to the small size of the head. Come on now, we KNOW they have nearly IDENTICAL gaming consoles in the Mollusc Era..... but then again if the scrolls have the potential for some of them to be really old, then if someone like a hundred years ago were to examine that fossil, they wouldn't have had any idea what the hell is going on because they wouldn't have had gaming consoles lol.
Either way I feel that generally Inklings have a pretty good BASIC picture of what humans were like. With extremely vague details, but I think they'd at least know what humans look like and how they dressed, based on a lot of global evidence - and well, the NILS statue being a pretty recent development in case you still DIDN'T know what a human looks like. There's definitely attempts to decode human scripts and languages, which further sheds insight on how human societies functioned and what kind of lives they led. Obviously there is a really big difference in what the average Inkling knows about humans (probably just what they looked like and some really basic stuff and not much else), while researchers, historians and human scientists might know all kinds of niche things, like basic knowledge of some languages, deep dives into local cultures, what kind of candy humans enjoyed, time stamping when smartphones were invented (which is so recent that Inklings might think technology wasn't as important as it is, given it's REALLY not been around that long if you consider like, 100 years back from now), maybe even human-made fiction in some cases. (No, we're not getting into the topic of Splatoon the game existing in Splatoon the universe, because it would)
Basically inklings definitely know a lot about humans, the scope of what they know just really varies. And yes people probably have human OCs. The human fanatics are out there. I mean, if I was an Inkling, i'd find it really wild that just 12,000 years ago or so there was a completely different sapient species ruling the planet that just DISAPPEARED and inklings as a species are SO very different (a MOLLUSC), but still eerily similar in so many ways, down to appearance, cultures, clothing, even having like identical technology in many ways. Like is that not cool as hell.

KEY POINTS
What people perceive is, in a major part, a function of what they look for and expect to see.
Those who expect others to act a certain way tend to perceive that, even if everything is normal.
The human mind is a prediction machine.
Knowing how much of experience is shaped by how people frame and direct their attention can be empowering.
We often think of the world as existing “out there” and that we simply open our eyes and see it for what it is. We also tend to believe that we observe other people’s reactions and pick out what is relevant based on what is actually there. Although this describes our experience of perception, the truth is actually quite different.
The facial scar experiment provides powerful evidence that people’s perceptions of social interactions arise from their expectations. The setDartmouth Scar Experimentup of the study, conducted by Kleck and Strenta, is as follows: Participants entering the study are informed that it is about how physical deformities impact interpersonal interactions. To explore this, participants have a significant facial scar placed on them and then are told to monitor the actions and attitudes of the others. A make-up artist puts the scar on the participants’ faces and has them look at it in the mirror. Then, she adds some moisturizer to help prevent cracking, and the participants have some brief social interactions. They later come back and report on those interactions.
Those with facial scars experienced the interactions as being much more tense and patronizing than controls. This makes sense, right? After all, we know people treat people with major disfigurements differently, right?
Well, it turns out that when the make-up artist added the moisturizer, she actually removed the scar. So, the person did not actually have anything on their face. Instead, they simply experienced the relational world differently because they had different expectations of what it would be like.
It is hard to emphasize how powerful this expectation effect is.
Consider, for example, the famous “gorilla experiment.” In it, individuals are asked to watch a group pass a basketball around and carefully count how many times the ball was passed for a minute. Unsurprisingly, most people can do this task relatively easily.
However, what is remarkable about this experiment is that while this is happening, a person in a gorilla suit enters the group, makes a display, and then walks off. When you see it, you can’t miss it. However, approximately 50 percent of the people who are counting the passes completely fail to see the gorilla. When you go back and take a look at the video, it is amazing that anyone would not notice the gorilla. But that is the power of expectations in forming what we see or, in this case, don’t see.
The work of the cognitive philosopher Andy Clark makes such phenomena understandable in his recent book, The Experience Machine: How Our Minds Predict and Shape Reality. The central idea in the book is called predictive processing, which is the theory that we build our perceptual experiences and act according to our predictions. One of the most compelling real-life examples he gives of predictive processing in action is of a construction worker who jumps off a large ridge only to land on a 10-inch nail and have it penetrate through his boot and stick out the other side. Needless to say, the man was in agony.
However, his perceptual experience changed dramatically when, after the boot was carefully removed, it became apparent that the nail happened to go between his toes and never actually pierced his skin. His agony was completely a function of his perceptions. If that sounds hard to believe, check out the rubber hand experiments, which show how readily people can become convinced that a rubber hand actually is their hand, such that if it is crushed with a hammer, the person will jump back in pain.
The bottom line is that what you see is defined in large part by what you look for and expect to see. This is a powerful insight for many reasons. First, it highlights that our perceptual knowledge is always an interaction between the knower and what is known. Second, it helps explain how and why people can be at the exact same event but see it completely differently. Third, as this blog on the human identity matrix makes clear, we have much flexibility in where we direct our attention and how we frame what we perceive and what it means to who we are. Thus, although the power of expectation can be a bit alarming and unsettling, it also can be very empowering, and it is one of the great insights of cognitive and narrative approaches to psychotherapy to realize how important our frame is in understanding how we experience and feel about the world around us.

An intriguing AU scenario for you my dear.
So imagine the original Corinthian was never unmade... Yet the transition from Morpheus to Daniel still occurred. How do you think the realtionship between Daniel and Cori 1 would play out?
Oh this is a really really interesting scenario!!! <3
Wanting to stay closely to the comics, we have several evidences of how the Corinthian, before his escape and betrayal, deeply loved Dream. In Nighmare Country we go even further: Cori 2.0 recalls from the last, dramatic confrontation with Morpheus only the shame the First felt for disappointing his Creator and this suggests that, deeply, the traces of that love never faded, even there at the Cereal Convention.
One might think, then, that a forgiven (and never unmade) Corinthian returned to his function in the Dreaming, under a more attentive and forward-looking king like Daniel, might be the starting point for a perfect relationship between the two, a return to the old bond of loyalty and trust, but instead I think not, basically for two reasons
First Corinthian is a Faustian character who took the ancient dialectic between artist and artwork, between storyteller and story, to the extreme. In the Waking World he was finally able to experience something he had long yearned for, which was to be able to be the artist, the storyteller, a real force capable of sculpting the world in his image. The irreconcilable conflict between narrator and story would then be replaced by another, equally painful conflict: the one between forgiveness and remembrance. And we have seen that the memories of what First experienced about the Waking World are so strong that repeatedly tempt the Second's mind. So I don't think his "re-entry" would be long-lived because the allure of remembrance would eventually get the better of the catharsis of forgiveness.
despite what the TV series let us see, I believe that First Corinthian (in the comics) does not like humans. To him we are work, in the standard of cases and, in the best of cases, something to enjoy, to savor. We are "food," and with food you may play with but you always end up devouring it (and not coincidentally in Nightmare Country it's the word taste, with all the myriad of meanings, Cori 2.0 uses to refer to his memories with the humans). I think that Daniel's original human nature would be precisely the component that in the Corinthian's perpetually tempted heart would cause his "good intentions" of loyalty to fail: how to be loyal, but more importantly, how to be subjected to a king in whom a fragment of humanity dwells, the very humanity that the Corinthian has feasted on for so many years?
Daniel would be human, all too human for the First, who in my opinion would not recognize him as either his King or his real Creator. The First could never say "I am everybody's story, I am Dream's story" because he has accomplished the impossible, to be his own story, and a character who attempts to do this can only succeed or die while trying. That is why I believe that even in an AU in which the Corinthian is not unmade his fate is still to die, at the hands of Daniel: and perhaps, in this case, death would be even more painful because there would not even be any traces of the love he always felt for Morpheus.

So do you think the writing team was villanizing the critics through the curious cat seeing how they were the ones who basically went all meta in pointing out plot holes and other talking points critics have been bringing up for years only for him to turn out to be a villain in the end and he needed to be destroyed? Cuz I feel like they were doing that. At this point rooster teeth's writing is starting to feel a bit spiteful which is funny considering how much they hate Adam who embodied spite.
Personally, I don't think the comparison extends that far. Meaning, I don't believe this is a case of, "The Curious Cat represents critics and now look, those evil critics die!" because that's just too conspiratorial, there's too little connection between the Cat/the fandom, the Cat was clearly always meant to be the Volume's baddie no matter what throwaway lines they were given, the writing team has a HELL of a lot more to worry about than what a small pocket of people are saying online, etc.
Case in point: the Cat's observations aren't actually what fans have been criticizing for years, at least not in my experience. I go into this in more depth in my recap (which istg I'm writing! lol) but almost no one cares about the ~implications~ of Ozpin and Oscar sharing a body, Atlas floating is a bottom rung concern when it comes to how the Relics are used, and Ciel is likewise inconsequential compared to other characters who have been forgotten by the narrative (Sun, Ilia, Neptune, Maria, Tai, Glynda, etc.). The only thing the Cat says that feels like it's accurately representing criticism of RWBY is the observation that it's impossible to keep track of so many characters.
So yeah, I do think it's a general dig at the less optimistic pockets of the fandom. The Cat's language in that scene -- "Characters" people returning in a "Notable way" -- conveys an awareness of RWBY as a fictional story that they don't otherwise demonstrate. From an in-world perspective, the Cat is talking about real people whose world they want access to... yet for this one, strange exchange they function more as the creator's mouthpiece, poking fun at those who have criticized a fictional, WIP webseries. Of course, it's only really fun if you're a) of the opinion that RWBY is pretty much perfect or b) are still enjoying it enough to laugh off a self-aware acknowledgement of its many problems. A lot of fans aren't in either category, hence it comes across as a little spiteful at worst, simply ignorant at best.
Despite what anti-rwde folks would have you believe, that tiny corner of the fandom is not bombarding the creators with harassment and, as said, professional writers have a lot more to worry about than browsing through a handful of tumblr blogs and one subreddit. I truly doubt they're on the up-and-up about complaints. So I think the Cat's observations demonstrate that they're aware that criticism generally exists (as any creator would be), but they don't know enough to accurately write about what fans are criticizing. They've picked random things that they believe people might feasibly be up in arms about -- "Omg you made a man live with a child in his body! Having a floating city when 95% of the monsters in this show can't can't fly is so stupid! How dare you not bring back this one-line character from six Volumes ago!!" -- with, as my writing there demonstrates, perhaps a dash of deliberately choosing kinda absurd "criticisms" because the whole point of this moment is for the audience to laugh at the Cat's overly-enthusiastic concern. So do I think that moment is meant to be a fictionalized and generalized rolling-their-eyes-at-critics moment? Yeah. Do I think that extends to the Cat's narrative purpose as a whole and we should read them as the metaphorical critics reaching their deserved end? No. There's pretty much no basis for that.
It is still frustrating though, especially given Volume 9 as a whole. If you are unhappy with RWBY after a two year hiatus and are questioning this filler season, having one of the new characters imply how silly it is to be worried about dropped concepts and too many characters isn't going to be received very well, regardless of whether it's just intended to be a joke.

The Matrix Reloaded (2003)
Tumblr media
When talking about The Matrix Reloaded, we need to remember a few things. Firstly, this is very much a “Part 1”. At the time, we knew a sequel was coming (there’s a trailer for The Matrix Revolutions at the end of the credits) and now you’ll have no trouble watching the films back-to-back so the inconclusive ending isn't an issue. Secondly, we should consider the entertainment factor. This movie has a lot of ideas that may or may not completely come together in the end. It definitely feels more than a little self-important at times. Does that matter when it also features what might be the most exciting, action-packed chase scene of all time, dazzling special effects and the kind of fight choreography most action films could only dream of? Maybe, but only so much.
Neo (Keanu Reeves) has done it. He got the girl (Carrie-Anne Moss as Trinity), defeated the villain (Hugo Weaving as Agent Smith) and now navigates the Matrix like it’s his personal playground. Morpheus (Lawrence Fishburne) believes it’s only a matter of time before the prophecy is fulfilled and all of humanity is freed from the clutches of the artificial world. When the city of Zion learns a mechanical army will arrive to destroy it within 72 hours, those who’ve escaped the Matrix are divided by what they should do next.
Looking back, The Matrix is a hard science fiction film with elements that would fit more comfortably in a fantasy. I don’t mean the power fantasy that it is. All of the talks about prophecies and “the one”, the Oracle (Gloria Foster), the use of mythological and biblical names like Trinity, Morpheus, Zion, and Nebuchadnezzar make you wonder if the mechanical menaces are stand-ins for demons or Greek monsters. Some of it you assumed was just “sounds cool hacker lingo” but The Matrix Reloaded doubles down on the mysticism. Many of the programs we meet allegedly serve a function within the Matrix but you’re unsure how that could work. “People” like the Merovingian (Lambert Wilson) and his wife, Persephone (Monica Bellucci) seem more concerned with their strained marriage and petty squabbles than maintaining a sense of order within the Matrix. At least programs like the Keymaker (Randall Duk Kim) can be traced to useful functions but others leave you scratching your head. I can’t say if it’s intentional or not that the digital entities we meet are virtually indistinguishable from the real humans living outside. Either it says something about the way the machines - once eager to prove their superiority to humans because of what made them different from their fleshy creators (as shown in “The Animatrix”) have “devolved” into beings concerned with petty subjects like who’s sleeping with who, childish grudges and amassing more power in a virtual world, or this series doesn’t really have a concrete direction and is just a neat concept that conveniently allows the Wachowskis (who once again write and direct) to bring their childhood fantasies to life for all to see.
The questions surrounding the film’s ultimate goal and the authorial intent can pull you out of it for a moment but you’ll be sucked back in by the incredible action scenes. It’s a shocker to see Agent Smith back (once again hinting at some confused objectives behind the scenes) but his first confrontation with Neo is the stuff of legends. Long, well-choreographed, consistently exciting and memorable, the scene makes you wonder “How did they do that”? over and over. Some have accused the special effects of being dated (wouldn’t be a surprise considering the film is now 18 years old) but that’s only the case if you watch the clip in isolation. As part of a continuous flow within the film, you don’t see the seams.
As impressive as the “Burly Brawl” may be, it’s nothing compared to the “Highway Chase”. The latter begins with our heroes pitted against the kind of opponents that could only come from the artificial world. As Neo desperately races to save his friends, Morpheus, Trinity and the Keymaker are pursued by “The Twins” (Neil and Adrian Rayment). They're programs from an older iteration of the Matrix that used ghosts, vampires, werewolves, etc. to maintain order rather than Agents. Our leather-clad, sunglasses-wearing superhero protagonists have to go up against phantasms who can become intangible at will. How do you defeat one of those? You can’t. All you can do is run. Racing down the highway at blinding speeds would be enough of a challenge. With these two on their tails AND Agents who are drawn to the flagrant rule-breaking? It seems impossible, which is why the sequence is so exciting. You’ve got no idea how this will end. To get out alive, our heroes will have to invent all sorts of new tricks, guaranteeing that you’ll be talking about this movie with your friends for weeks.
Those are only two scenes. We also have elaborate heists, sabotage that threatens everything, shocking revelations about the world inside and outside the Matrix, fascinating concepts introduced and loads of memorable characters. Some of The Matrix Reloaded doesn’t come together the way it should (or maybe it will in the next movie, don’t be too quick to judge) but this is the kind of picture that makes you go “WOW!” frequently - even if you don’t understand it all. (On Blu-ray, January 1, 2022)

True Names and the Seraphic Culture
A name, when given to a person, is used as a unique identifier for that individual. In the case of “true names”, a concept that exists in many cultures around the world, a true name is believed to express the true nature of its owner, with the notion that words can have magical properties and thus can be used as magical invocation of sorts.
In the world of Zestiria, there too exists true names that use an ancient language. As indicated in Berseria, revealing one’s true name either means a sign of utmost trust or practically a love confession, but why is that exactly, is what I’m trying to find out here.
As said before, this idea is barely original, and like many things that are in Zestiria, it is likely inspired by similar concepts in real world. In the ancient world, names were thought to be extremely powerful and act as a separate manifestation of a deity in some ways. This viewpoint, for example, is responsible for the reluctance to use the proper name of God in Hebrew writing or speech (YHWH), as well as the common understanding in ancient magic that magical rituals had to be carried out “in [someone’s] name”: by invoking a spirit by name, one was thought to be able to summon that spirit’s power for some kind of miracle or magic.
In Japan, it is extremely impolite to call others by their given names unless you are really close, since it feels very personal. There is the custom, “jitsumei keihi zoku” (“実名敬避俗”), basically meaning “the practice of avoiding the real name out of respect” (“実名を敬って避ける習俗”); when using kanji, addressing a person by their real name was permitted only for parents or masters. This was because a person’s real name was strongly associated with their spiritual personality, and it was believed that the mention of that name could control that spiritual personality.
To further illustrate this point, the personal names of Emperors were referred to as imina (諱), which means “taboo name” (忌み名, imina), and they were only to be referred to with their secondary names (副称) or honorific titles. Even more, you can see how the names of kami and emperors in Kojiki or Nihon Shoki were not their actual names, but more their titles, as the actual names themselves are believed to have been forgotten so only their titles had been handed down. For example, we have the kami Izanami-no-Mikoto and Izanagi-no-Mikoto, and if we assume that the “iza” part of their names stands for “誘語” (izanafukotoba) meaning “invitation”, as in, kami that invited each other for the birth of the nation, then these are clearly titles that were later dedicated, not their real names.
(Outside of Emperors, when a person died, their personal name would then be referred to as an imina as well and was no longer used, instead, the person was to be referred to by their okurina, 諡, or posthumous name.)
In Three Sovereigns (三皇) traditions of medieval Daoism, in the corpus that claims that those who chant it can become an emperor, talismans (符) and diagrams (圖) depict the true form (真形) and true names (真名) of spirits, which gives a visual representation of a supramundane being’s “image” (象), its metaphysical substance, its most fundamental identity, its immutable essence. It was believed that diagrams (圖), functioned together with the written word (文; 書), reveal a universal plan—at once cosmic and divine. Humans, then, inhabited an encoded world that sages decoded and made accessible to society in material form. Though the true name of a spirit inscribed on a talisman is legible only to those supramundane beings, and that name gives “control” over the entity whose name is possessed.
This is in line with how true names work in Zestiria.
天族は普段使う名前とは別に、自身の性質を表す真の名をもつ。古代語によるこの真名は、天族同士あるいは天族と導師が契約するうえで必要となる。ただし、自身の本質を知られることになるため、通常は他人に開示するようなものではない。
Apart from their regular names, seraphim have true names that express their nature. This true name, in Ancient Tongue, is necessary for pacts with each other or with the Shepherd. However, it is not usually disclosed to others because it reveals one’s true nature.
真名は天族が生まれながらに持つ隠し名で、対象者の人柄や性格、宿命などをもとにつけられたもの。
A true name is a hidden name that the seraph is born with and is based on the subject’s personality, character, and destiny, among other things.
真名を用いた契約で相手との関係が決定づけられることから、親しい間柄でも秘密にするのが通例だが、ミクリオはスレイに真名を明かしていたため、ライラを驚かせた。
Since a pact using a true name determines the relationship with the other party, it is customary to keep it a secret even in close relationships, but Mikleo had revealed his true name to Sorey, which surprised Lailah.
Seems like true names are mostly reserved for pacts only, whether it’s with other seraphim (Prime Lord-Sub Lord pact) or with a human (Shepherd pact). Interestingly, the Shepherd pact is likened to a marriage in Japanese, being called koshiire (輿入れ) which means marriage in Japanese, however, this is not to be taken only in that way, because if translated literally, it means “entering the palanquin” because in the past, the bride was supposed to arrive at the groom’s house in a palanquin. In the context of Zestiria, it’s better to see the Shepherd as a palanquin for the seraph to enter, since the Shepherd offers their body to become the vessel for the seraph, and as such, they basically share the Shepherd’s body itself.
導師になることを主神への「輿入れ」とも言うが、己の肉体を天族の器とし、その伴侶となる導師は、まさに嫁入りさながらの関係と言える。
Becoming the Shepherd is also referred to as “entering the palanquin” to the Prime Lord. The Shepherd who makes their flesh and body the vessel of the seraph and becomes their partner can be likened to a marriage-like relationship, so to speak.
I mean, seeing it this way, the Shepherd’s body can certainly be seen as a household of itself lol. Though the Prime Lord runs the household, so to speak.
Seraphim can use a human being with high resonance, pure and without malevolence, as a “vessel” to dwell in. This pact is called “marriage” and the person who becomes the vessel is called a “Shepherd”.
In this pact, the seraph is the “master” while the “Shepherd” is the “servant”, so the pact cannot be unilaterally broken by the Shepherd.
So we can see how true names, then, tie into all this:
In exchange of the Shepherd protecting the Prime Lord (and their Sub Lords) from malevolence by acting as their pure vessel, the Shepherd can use the seraphim’s powers by invoking their true names (Armatization).
In case of Prime Lord and their Sub Lords, the Sub Lords have to obey the Prime Lord, and the Prime Lord can issue commands and restrict the Sub Lords under them.
Pretty obvious enough that the act of giving one’s true name in a pact basically meaning giving up control over oneself to the other party just from looking at the terms above. That is a really dangerous thing to do as this can be misused. Also the whole “marriage” metaphors mean that it’s a sacred thing.
Now, how and when do seraphim know what their true names are?
The answer varies.
In Berseria, Eizen realized it pretty late, though speaking of Berseria, since malakhim basically have no will of their own, true names work kind of differently, since true names are said to be the essence of their lives, yet they basically can be said as beings with no “lives” to steer on their own.
“The pact of ‘vessel’ is a heart-to-heart pledge. By communicating with each other’s heart, the Exorcist senses the true name of the malak and expresses it in words. However, a malak whose will has been taken away from them has neither a heart nor a true name, so what comes out of those Exorcists’ mouths [that they say is a true name] is just nonsense for their self-satisfaction.”
One interesting case, though, is Phi:
「テレサ様のときは覚えてないけど、エレノアとの契約の瞬間は、とても優しくてあたたかい気持ちになった。エレノアが唱えた真名を聞いた僕は『前から知っていた』ように感じたよ」
“I don’t remember how it felt with Lady Teresa, but the moment I made the pact with Eleanor, it felt gentle and warm. When I heard the true name that Eleanor chanted, I felt like I’d always known it from before.”
So, a human (with high resonance) can feel a seraph’s true name and put it in words. If this isn’t literal slavery, it can actually be kind of seen as romantic, but only if the power is balanced between both parties.
Tumblr media
MIKLEO: I’ve been wondering about this true name that I had felt in my heart long before I even learned words. Its meaning has always felt mysterious to me… MIKLEO: But now that I’ve seen that memory, I understand. A sorrowful wish in despair gave birth to me; it is the name of that wish. MIKLEO: It might be a curse, or fate, but we know of [comprehend in its entirety, sense, viscerally feel] the hope that resides within this vessel called life. SOREY: …Yeah, we can’t let everyone’s, our wishes to be tainted. SOREY: Reach it out, Mikleo! SOREY: Luzrov Rulay [Mikleo the Enforcer]!
In the manga, Mikleo seemed to immediately realize what his true name was, even before he learned language to communicate, he just felt it. If we take everything (manga, novel, World Guidance, Perfect Guide, etc.), we can surmise that he was born with that true name from Michael’s despair/hope as well as Muse’s prayers.
(There’s something mysterious, inexplicable about a name being able to tell of your entire being, knowing your name in the physical world even before that earthly name is given to you by your parents, or others. This, I feel, is one of those things that are beyond mortal or even seraph understanding; how a true name can be so all-encompassing that it can even predict your fate, without you feeling being dictated by it: because only seraphim with true will can feel these true names, that are so innate to them.)
Alright. Now we go into how each of the seraphim tells Sorey their true name. The game only really shows how Lailah told her, which was when she was inside him as the vessel.
Tumblr media
However, the novels detailed each of how the seraph told Sorey their true name in the final battle, just before Sorey called their name and fired each of the bullet.
幼い頃、真名を持つミクリオを羨ましがり、ジイジを困らせたこともあった。
When he was a child, he was envious of Mikleo who had a true name, and this had troubled Gramps too.
たったひとりで導師を待っていた彼女が、炎の中でそっと教えてくれた名。
The name she told him softly in the flames, as she waited alone for the Shepherd.
これを教えるのは、お兄ちゃんの他にあなただけ、と言われた真名だった。
“I only told this to you, aside from my older brother,” a true name told to be that.
あいつの分もちゃんとお前の力になると、笑いながら教えてくれた名。
“I’ll be your strength, for him too,” a true name told with a smile on his face.
As a bonus, Dezel’s was detailed during his pact early in the novel.
スレイはデゼルの神器を掲げ、彼が低い声で告げた真名を高らかに呼んだ。
Sorey held up the Dezel’s Divine Artifact and loudly called out his true name, which he had told him in a low voice before.
Curiously enough, everyone’s details were pretty detailed except for Mikleo’s. How did he tell his true name to Sorey again? We don’t even know if his true name was told, or felt. We only know that Sorey managed to trouble Gramps with how he didn’t have a true name, and though I do have my own headcanon, but again, a headcanon is only a headcanon. They don’t seem to want to say exactly how it went through, even though out of all the seraphim using Sorey as their vessel, only Mikleo gave it to him outside of a pact (outside of something that is duty-bound, so it’s definitely personal), lol.
(Makes Mikleo seemingly treating his true name nilly-willy seem more hilarious though. I wonder if Gramps or anyone in the village told him, or heck, reprimanded him for doing something so... reckless? I mean, if we relate this back to all the “pact = marriage” and “pact = giving your true name” thing... [well, Sorey’s pact with Lailah is basically seen as limited to his duty and not actual, personal marriage, but still]... the implication is. Something. I’m not going to say it out loud here [I mean, Berseria has done that already anyway, lol].)
But yeah. Make that of what you will.
(To note: Interesting as well is that how seraphim form romantic [and perhaps sexual?] relationships, when they don’t need to and can’t procreate, though I do know that romantic/sexual relationships aren’t just for that. But still. The culture is fascinating to me.)

Well. Silent Reading chapter 12, where they talk about Fei Du's moms death and how he doesn't accept the conclusion, how Luo Wenzhou advises he at least try to move on emotionally. The way Fei Du is tapping a song on his cup (perhaps his moms), that he stops tapping when Luo Wenzhou hits a nerve and becomes like a statue--revealing his true emotions in a way he doesn't/can't in therapy. The grief talk he probably has needed to hear for a while, but first a very painful talk where there is no seeing eye to eye and no agreeing because they both have their reasons. And Luo Wenzhou turns off the petty conflict for it because Fei Du deserves to genuinely discuss it with Luo Wenzhou as level headed adults with their analysis if Fei Du wants to. And Fei Du is so emotional, and in the end as he puts his mask back up. (A note on the show version: some portions of this changed, the main dialogue stayed fairly true and the function of the scene. In both cases, this scene absolutely cuts up my heart ;-; ):
"Someone once said to me that ‘everything that happens in this world leaves traces,’ but whether you can find them depends on each side’s luck. Is your luck good this time?”
Luo Wenzhou suddenly froze. The blow-for-blow probing, bantering, and hinting vanished utterly from his face. For an instant the corners of his mouth were even pulled a little tight.
Luo Wenzhou subconsciously got his cigarettes out of his pocket, thought of something, and put them back.
Instantly there was deep silence between the two of them. Neither looked at the other. They only sat side by side with a distance of about one meter between them, like complete strangers.
“The windows and doors were locked. None of the rooms showed signs of forced entry. The most advanced security system of the time was entirely untouched.” Luo Wenzhou abruptly opened his mouth to speak, his voice very low and his speech very fast, as if he had already recited these words many times and could smoothly say them without missing a single punctuation mark.
“She had done her makeup and changed her clothes, even put on music. The scene had a certain feeling of ritual. There was a suicide note arranged on the writing desk next to her. It was analyzed, the handwriting confirmed to belong to the deceased. The person who had written the letter showed clear depressive tendencies, which tallied with her daily use of antidepressant medication. The deceased was an adult, with no illness or injury that may have led her to be unable to act for herself. No drugs sufficient to cause unconsciousness were found in her system. There were also no defensive wounds on her body.—That’s all the evidence we collected at the time. You were the one who reported the case. You reached the scene before we did. Unless you want to tell me that you hid some evidence back then, it was without a doubt a suicide.”
Fei Du didn’t speak. His sitting posture seemed very relaxed—legs crossed, upper body leaning forward slightly, one hand casually lying on his knee and the other holding a paper cup that was no longer steaming. His long and slender fingers were tapping out a beat on the rim of the cup, as if there was a melody no one else could hear filling the air.
“I said to you then, ‘Everything that happens in this world leaves traces, as long as it’s real. Without traces to support your opinion, however much you believe in it, it’s still only a dead end of the imagination.’ Fei Du, you may have had a certain intuition, but we can’t do our job based on intuition. My intuition tells me every day that I can make five million.” Luo Wenzhou’s gaze stopped on Fei Du’s fingers. Then, in an almost callously objective tone, he said, “And you know, there’s a theory abroad that says that if a person wants to kill herself, she may suddenly use some means to confess it to the people close to her—you heard her confession back then.”
Fei Du’s fingers suddenly stiffened.
Luo Wenzhou reached out his arm, pulled the paper cup out of his hand and put it aside. “If you really want to talk over this case with me, I maintain my judgment to this day—but it doesn’t matter whose judgment it is. That isn’t important anymore. She’s been dead for seven years. When the coffin is closed, you can judge a person’s life. The relevant evidence has all disappeared. This isn’t going to sound good, but if she’s reincarnated she’ll already be attending primary school. The living can cling on without letting go; it’s a form of emotional sustenance. But there’s no sense in blindly clinging to the wrong course.”
Maintaining his original posture, Fei Du sat without moving a muscle, as if he had turned into a statue.
Just then, Zhang Ting and the lawyer came out side by side, and Fei Du’s gaze moved slightly, giving off a trace of living energy.
“I don’t accept your conclusion, Officer Luo,” said Fei Du.
Hearing this, Luo Wenzhou wasn’t at all taken aback. He only shrugged.
Fei Du adjusted his jacket and stood to meet Zhang Ting and the lawyer. He looked down at Luo Wenzhou. There was no smile on his face; his expression was even somewhat somber. “But perhaps there’s some merit in your heartfelt advice.”
Luo Wenzhou was surprised, but after saying this, Fei Du once again put on his graceful mask and left with Zhang Ting. They didn’t have any further interaction.

Hi, i am just listening to your Whills episode and i think that i may understand what mr. Lukas had in mind with them.
The way i personally see it is that the World between Worlds is the key to understanding Whills and the Force. Basically, wbw is this place that connects different times and spaces through paths beyond the standard universe of gffa. This means that similarly to Gargantua in the Interatellar movie, this place canonically exists on some different level than the rest of the world - outside of the physical and outside of the time. That level is the Force.
Now the Force is often spoken of as having a will and intention on its own, sometimes dabbling into details by focusing on certain individuals by sending them random visions for example, but overal, the it has this tendency to keep itself in ballance. The part of the Force that has its own thinking in a sense are Whills. They or it or however many it is believed to exist, are basically the gods of the universe, the origin of the creative and destructive forces, the cause of change.
Now how do midichlorians fit into this.
There are 2 cases of things that posess Force abilities in the world that do not have midichlorians or any organic components to begin with. One of such are kyber crystals, the other are those sentient crystals from legends whose name i forgot. In both cases, they don't move and can't do anything much in their natural state, which is not good for the ballance restoriation purposes.
This is where midichlorians come in. They are said to be present in all life, be it in different concentrations. As life is highly dynamic and turbulent compared to rocks, it makes sense that Whills would see it as a tool to propagate their intent through the universe.
In order to communicate with living things, at some point, midichlorians came to be, functioning as a translator between the biology and the Force field in the same way how many real cell organels turn light into sugars or electric signals into muscle contractions. More midichlorians means more sensitivity to the Force field, and in the reverse order more midichlorians means stronger influence send outwards which we all know as various Force abilities. And just as you said, even if a person was born with a high concentration of midichlorians, they can always decide to ignore the vibe they get from the Force. The choice is theirs.
But intentionally or not, all life is a change and all change translates via midichlorians into the Force which is the way how Whills communicate with the euclidian timespace of the gffa. And so huge events in the universe can be felt through collectively generated ripples through the Force, such as the destruction of Alderaan. At the same time, once these ripples reach Whills, informing them about the change in the ballance, Whills may then send "random" Force answers. They may give their current favourites prophetic dreams, they may grant them unusual one time boons, or they may create situations just at the right moment at just the right place to lead them towards the path that has a potential to restore the ballance.
But because Whills are very much not mortal creatures, more likely something like a cosmic hive mind, and because they don't communicate through language or even within the standard time-space parameters, deciphering their messages is very much a spiritual thing. Are dreams they send a warning? Are they the future set in stone? One of possible futures? A reflection of events happening right now to soneone else in similar position? A long forgotten memory? Who knows? Luckily, there are proffesionals who specialize in interpreting these things, such as those at various jedi temples.
Lastly, my short take about force ghosts.
The Force as a field is very much a communal thing, generated by creatures as much as plants or microbes. Sith and other dark side users are self centered in its use and are thus incompatible with the idea of surrending themselves to it. The training for being able to astrally project may be a mid step to becoming a force ghost, after all, both project the will and senses outside of the body. Luke, Leia, Obi-Wan, and Yoda, all disappearing in their final moments, can be thus be interpreted as the last stage of the astral projection where the will of the force user becomes fully separated from the physical body and it fuses with the surrounding life Force. Quigon is a bit of a weirdo since we saw his dead body, but then again who knows what he was up to in his spare time. For all we know he may have been training to be able to astrally project, died before he fully grasped the ability, and only perfected it after his death.
Anyway, this was my take on how i understand the Force and its in-universe logic. I love listening to your podcast while i am in work, because it always makes my geeky heart skip a little. Both of you have so much fun talking about the same thing i love and it's just such a joy. Love you and bye
Oh my goodness!!! Thank you for the lovely explanation!!!! This is remarkable. And just FYI, we read part of this as our listener comments on our latest episode 💜 Thank you, also, for the very kind words about our podcast 🥰

The Jungle - 5th Episode Review
Welcome back to this review of the Jungle ! We are already at the 5th episode. I can’t believe it goes that fast. I almost couldn’t review this episode since I’m away from home and there are no much things to do. This time the review will be short because it wasn’t packed with that much actions this time.
We were at the RV watching Nithan and Naan having their little conversation before a girl came. She is a previous conquest of Naan and Nithan will be able to see how he can tricks the girl into doing whatever he wants. She calls him out but he has such a sad view of humankind that he rather acts this way than being different. Everything must be a transaction in his world and of course Nithan can’t really contradict this because she came to him for a reason. She explains why she wants him to play her fake boyfriend and offer him whatever he wants in exchange.
At the same time the rest of the Jungle and Hunter (minus Wayu) found the reporter they were talking about in the last episode. I’m not sure if they really knows about Pladao being also a journalist. This part of the episode allows us to see Mix in a total different kind of role. It’s really refreshing. I hope, if he still wants to act, that we could see him doing it more. From another part of the city, Pladao is still trying to crack how the RV works. She is kinda stuck in this repetitive pattern. It’s a bit disappointing. Her role was really promising but now it’s getting lame. I was really expecting more from her. At the end, she is kind of falling into the role of a useless villain.
Anyway we don’t really care because it switches really fast to Naan at work. We learn that he is working with stocks apparently and got many uninteresting economical talks. This scene exists only to show how clever. While his co-workers raves about him, he is having bad memories triggered by the pasta dish. I understand him. I don't like pasta that much too. He also seems to fall into the case of Bad Moms. They must have a school for them back in Thailand because it’s the second one in one drama.
We also got another flashback with Nithan explaining how she wants Naan to act as her fake boyfriend and what he would get if he accepts the job... Money from the inheritance. I mean why not. The inheritance must be big ! She proposed him a contract but he doesn't want it. From the start this partnership is not going well if you ask me. Back into the present, Her dad is trying to know if the wedding is real or not and the charade is saved by the appearance of Naan, right on time. He is of course playing well because of his acting talent. The beginning of the episode was to show his talent so we already knew it would work. I just want to notice that since Nithan doesn’t have a Bad Mom, she got the Bad Dad instead. No one seems to have a functional family in this drama. Dad is trying to know more about the relationship. Naan is great at lying but Nithan is not really helping since she is so bad at it. Anyway they still found their way but they will have to pretends more in front of the all family. Naan will try to give some tips to Nithan so she can lie better. We also learn that he wants 45% of the inheritance as payment for his help! What the heck man?! Too much. It doesn’t require that much from him to pretend being her boyfriend. He is a master at lying so it’s like a walk in the park for him. Of course Nithan accept because the drama also spent an awful time telling us how bad she is at lying. She must need him that much !
The two of them will have to share an apartment to pretend that they are together. It will also help to make them spend time together. This part was a bit boring because they don’t have that much of a chemistry. They are both good actors but really I can’t be convinced about their slow attraction to one another. Maybe it’s just me.
We get a short time with Pladao who is trying to share the address of the RV online but it's not working. She still hasn’t understand that there is no service around the place. It’s the second time she is making the mistake. When will you learn? Of course, Evil Naan mocks her before taking his leave. She then follows him. He goes to a club but she lost him while at the same time the cops came to the place. It was a trap and she fell into it so easily. She never freaking learn! How can one person be that stupid ? I really wanted to root for her but she is making it really hard to do it. I also really wanted a ennemies-to-lovers trope from her and Evil Naan. I don’t have it and I’m really dissapointed at the writer. This show really could have been better.
We got more Nithan and Naan scenes together. I’m not going to describe all of them because they are really clichés and it’s what you can always find in “forced proximity” tropes. It is building their bond. We get it. It’s already the time to meet Nithan’s family. Everyone was waiting for them. They give presents. Grandma is not really impressed and she has questions about their relationship. Naan does the job because in case you didn’t understand before (even through the show really hammered it) Nithan is bad at lying. He gives a bit of truth mixed with lies. He is good at this game (again the show really is trying to shove it). Grandma felt for his face. Pretty privilege right here. A great tip to get in mind: you must be pretty to get what you want. If you are not pretty it’s not going to work. They made it. Naan shows her how he is good at detecting lies from truth and he is also teaching her all his tricks at this point. There is a bit of flirting when he tells her that he didn't lie when they were at her grandma’s place. She is falling for him slowly.
We are at RV again. The Jungle are talking about Pladao and how Evil Naan (love this name for the twin and I won't change it) took care of her. They also talk about Nithan. Naan is pretending not to like her but he is not fooling anyone. Back to the flat, Nithan is putting pictures on frames so if people comes to the place they will believe theirs lies about them being a couple. The picture is a bad montage so they need to take better pictures together. He doesn't like it but she manage to make a good one. Again we get a bonding time between them. Everything seems great until she made pasta. Wrong move girl. He hates it of course because it is triggering his memories. He gets mad at her when she tries to make him eat it. He has trauma and wants her to leave the place. She doesn't understand of course. Even if it wasn’t really nice how he got upset at her, I would say that she was also in the wrong when she tried to force him to eat her damn pasta. I really hates this when people are trying to force you to do something you don’t like. Especially when it’s about food. Maybe it’s my own trauma.
Anyway, he is back at RV drinking alone but Phethai/Wayu joins him. Wow it's been a while we haven’t seen him and I wasn’t missing him at all. They talk about relationships. We also get a new flashback from Naan’s past. His dad was a con artist and his family lost everything when the police got there (I’m not sure it was really the police but anyway). So Naan has the combo of Bad Mom and Bad Dad. Yeah! He is a lucky guy. We find him in his bed and he woke up because Nithan saw him having a nightmare about his past. The jumps between each scene are really bad sometimes it’s hard to follow. Someone didn't do his job properly: is it the writer of the director? I can’t really tell but it gets annoying. Nithan comforts him. We learn that Naan’s mom put poison in the pasta to feed her son. Moms are truly evil in this drama. Did he killed her? Because the last part shows Naan with a knife. I also have many questions. Where was Evil Naan in the past? We haven’t saw him in Naan’s flashbacks. In the preview for the next episode, it seems like there will be drama between the twins. My bet... Evil Naan will flirt with Nithan pretending to be Naan and he will find it. Since he likes her even though he pretends not to be, he will get mad. We’ll see tomorrow.
By the way, there are probably many mistakes in the text so sorry in advance. I'll correct them tomorrow if I get some time.

Mega Man Zero 2 Ending: In Mother's Light
Zero 2 has probably the hardest final levels in the series....which is why I like neutering 2 of them by using the two Cyber Elves that can instantly eliminate every enemy in a level!
Elpizo is pretty underwhelming as a final boss: his first phase can be a bit tricky but his final form is basically just a big target
Also Elpizo is...often not highly regarded as a villain and...yeah
He’s basically a better Sigma, sharing many of his ideological points (fun fact though: when Elpizo mentions a “world only for Reploids” that is most likely a reference to Iris) but with a more believably sympathetic motivation rather than just “I caught the evil virus lol” (also an optional npc conversation that I show even points out these parallels)
My issue is that we don’t spend nearly enough time with him pre-villany to establish him as a genuine good guy, in fact as soon as we meet him he’s already kind of an arrogant ass who’s way too sure of himself. Plus his final turnover where he understands too late that he’s been a fool happens too quickly and then he leaves just as quickly, almost like an afterthought.
The devs once mentioned that Zero 2 exists mostly as setup for Zero 3 and in this sense I guess you could argue that Elpizo was a sort of filler villain kinda thrown there just to have one. Being squeezed right between Copy X and his interesting parallels with the real X coupled with his potential implications of what X could have become without Dr.Light’s morality testing, and Dr. Weil and his....everything, it all really serves to further paint poor Elpizo as just a third wheel
Also X’s body has been destroyed
The very same body that we’ve been controlling throughout the X series, giving it power ups and weapons?
Gone for good
X is, at least physically speaking, dead
And no, the franchise won’t (fully) backtrack on this, he won’t just repair himself: the last and greatest creation of Dr.Light has officially been destroyed.
Speaking of X though: let’s talk about him
So ever since the first game we’ve been shown that X has become a Cyber Elf.
This game shows us that his consciousness has definitely been seperated from his physical body
The question is though: how did his consciousness become a Cyber Elf?
The series never truly answers but, for once, I don’t believe it’s really necessary: in this very scene we see that the Dark Elf has the power to turn Reploids into Cyber Elves. Since X had to use himself as part of the sealing mechanism for the Dark Elf it can be assumed that X’s current predicament is a consequence of having been....I guess in close contact with the Dark Elf? Which resulted in his mind being seperated from his body and turned into a Cyber Elf. I also believe that external materials confirmed this to be the case
I’m okay with this
What I’m not ok with is how certain materials decided to connect the Four Guardians’ origins with this
So the origins of the Four Guardians are never explicitly talked about in the games, they’re only ever alluded to in their character bios in Zero 3, which state that they were made from X’s DNA (a concept introduced by the late X series but never explained by the games themselves of course: basically it’s a part of a Reploid’s programming that contains all the important info on how a Reploid functions, much like how a human’s DNA contains all of their important genetic info). Apparently, according to the developers themselves, this had always been the intention, to the point that initially they wanted all 4 of them to be colored blue to further drive home the connection
Now all external materials of the Zero series mention this aspect of their origins
However there was one specific piece of material, namely the Zero Collection Japanese Timeline webside from 2010 (which is no longer up but you can read a translation on the wiki), which added another point:
it stated that, after sealing the Dark Elf, X’s psyche was shattered into 5 pieces: one is the one we talk to while the other four were used to make the Four Guardians
I...hope that this was just the website making shit up and isn’t actually canon because I don’t like it
First off: This is never alluded to ANYWHERE else, not in other materials and certainly not in the games themselves. They only ever state that the Guardians were made from X’s DNA
Furthermore: what does it mean for X himself? Is he an incomplete being? Is the X we talk to even the real one? Why doesn’t he seem more....upset about this?
But beyond all of this: would you really be able to tell?
It’s one thing to have the Four Guardians be essentially clones of X in a way but to have them actually be pieces of X’s personality?
None of them resemble him in the slightest! Especially not Fefnir and Leviathan!
Besides, if they truly ARE seperate pieces of X’s soul shouldn’t they have more....I dunno reservations about going around killing innocent reploids, taking orders from a Copy of their original self? (and they MUST know that he’s a Copy, Harpuia certainly does since he knew that Elpizo was going for X’s original body in Yggrdrasill)
Like In said: I hope that this was something that they made up out of nowhere and isn’t actually canon. After all, as we’ll see later, the devs have never been...completely consistent with the lore of the Four Guardians
As far as I’m concerned whatever the makers of a franchise may be canon officially (as long as it doesn’t explicitly contradict what’s on screen), but what happens on screen takes precedence over stuff that’s only in external materials, especially stuff that’s no longere even openly available
The in game text only says that they were made from X’s Dna and that’s what I’ll stick with for now

What are the WPATH files, and what do they expose? | Leak uncovers 'national trans health scandal'
Andrew Doyle: The ideological march through the medical institutions has been rapid and unexpected. In recent years we have seen leading pediatric specialists asserting the children who say they are in the wrong body must have their feelings immediately affirmed. We've been told that if a boy claims to be a girl, or vice versa, they must be believed and fast-tracked onto a pathway to medicalization. First, puberty blockers, then cross-sex hormones, and in some cases, irreversible surgery.
This is known as the gender affirmative model, and while its advocates claim that it is evidence-based, its critics say it is pure pseudoscience, and that we're permitting widespread medical experiments on this generation of children.
And now, messages and recorded video conferences from an internal chat system at WPATH, the World Professional Association for Transgender Health, have been leaked. WPATH is the leading authority on gender medicine in the world, with considerable influence throughout the anglosphere and here in the UK via the NHS.
These leaked materials have revealed something that many of us suspected all along. That leading medical practitioners in the field of gender pediatric healtcare are all too aware that many of these procedures are experimental. And, most significantly, that they have been proceeding with irreversible surgery on patients who cannot possibly give informed consent. Either because they're too young or that they suffer from some psychological disorder.
The WPATH Files were leaked to journalist Michael Shellenberger at the Environmental Progress think-tank, and have been presented and analyzed in a comprehensive report by journalist Mia Hughes. It is called "The WPATH Files: Pseudoscientific Surgical and Hormonal Experiments on Children, Adolescents, and Vulnerable Adults."
So, are we dealing with the medical scandal of the century? Tonight, I'm going to be talking to a range of experts to take a deep dive into the WPATH Files and explore precisely what they reveal about the ideological capture of the medical profession.
Now, I should say that some of the subjects discussed in tonight's show will be very disturbing and viewer discretion is advised.
So, let's begin. We're going to talk to the two journalists most responsible for bringing the leaks to our attention, Michael Shellenberger and Mia Hughes. And Michael, I want to start with you. How did these leaks come about?
Michael Shellenberger: Sure, well first, thanks for having us, Andrew. Really appreciate your coverage of this.
So, a source or sources provided me with these internal files. As you mentioned, there's a video and then there's also a number of written messages from a internal messaging board. And what they show is quite shocking. It's discussions of doing potential surgeries and drugs for children including ages 10, 13, developmental delayed people with diagnosed as schizophrenic, developmental disorders, identity disorders. We also see the people within WPATH, meaning the people inside what's called "gender affirming medicine" explicitly recognizing that neither the children nor the parents understand the consequences of these procedures, which include lifelong sterilization and loss of sexual function.
So, this is extremely serious. This is up there with past medical scandals in without question in my view. I think the response to this that we've seen across the board has been real shock and horror and that it is going to result in some kind of a reaction from governments.
Doyle: Now, Mia, I want to bring you in here. It's an extremely long report that you've written, but perhaps you might want to tell us about some of the key findings.
Mia Hughs: I would say, I'll give you some individual cases, but some of the key findings, the main finding for me was that you can see from these conversations that this is not a medical group. This is not a scientific group. This is a group that is engaged in political activism. So, somebody will show up in the forum and they will, they'll have a really difficult case and they're really concerned. Let's say it's the 13-year-old developmental delayed child who is on puberty blockers. And they don't know whether this child will ever reach the stage that they can consent to cross-sex hormones. And then along comes a corpus of people encouraging medicalization, encouraging the hormones, dismissing the caution, dismissing the doubts.
We've got cases of teenagers with liver tumors, vaginal atrophy, uterine atrophy from the testosterone. We've got males experiencing erections that feel like broken glass. We've got very seriously mentally unwell people being discussed. And again, there's no caution. They always encourage the hormones and the surgeries.
Doyle: Okay, well let's have a quick look at some of the leaked video recording. So, this one is about whether children can consent to treatment.
Um, I think the thing you have to remember about kids is that we're often explaining these sorts of things to people who haven't even had biology in high school yet. And I know I've heard others in this kind of a, in this kind of a setting say, well we think adults are like really slick biologically. In fact, lots of people have very little medical understanding of stuff like, that we just, medical professionals and mental health professionals, take for granted. But I don't know still what to do for the 14-year-olds. The parents have it on their minds, but the 14-year-old you just... it's like talking with diabetic complications with a 14-y old. They don't care. They're not going to die. They're going to live forever, right. So, I think when we're doing informed consent, I know that that's still a big lacuna.
Doyle: Okay, he mentioned informed consent there. So, let's consider what the parents might have to say. Let's have a look at this clip.
I try to, kind of, do whatever I can to help them understand best they best I can, but what really disturbs me is when the parents can't tell me what they need to know about a medical intervention that, apparently they signed off for.
Doyle: So, Michael I want to ask you about that one clinician there saying that, you know, a lot of these kids they haven't even got biology at high school level. So, the clinicians are aware as you say that they can't get informed consent in this situation. Am I right about that?
Shellenberger: Yeah, that's very clear from those clips that you showed and also from the larger video. It's, I believe, it's an almost an hour and a half long Zoom video and we released it in its entirety. They know that they're not getting informed consent, so they are acknowledging that they themselves and their colleagues are in direct violation of standard medical ethics. Ethic of informed consent is right up there with "do no harm."
And I would just point out it's also just such an interesting look into the power of ideology that at no point in that conversation did they say, yeah there's this lacuna. We can't figure out how to solve this problem, the fact that 14-year-olds don't understand what they're getting into with lifelong sterility and potential loss of sexual function. At no point do they then say, you know we probably really shouldn't be doing these procedures on anybody under the age of 18 or maybe 21, because the brain as we know is still growing after you're 18, you're still developing your forebrain. I think of how I was when I was 19 and 20.
So, I mean, I just think it's such a shocking case. I think there's been a rush by some people online to sort of call these people evil and to use all sorts of names. I mean, what you're struck by is that they're so obsessed with this idea that gender is this sort of, you know, real thing and that it really has to be affirmed and that there's no other way to do it. I mean it's as simple as basically saying that gender medicine is their only hammer, and that makes them see everything that comes to them as a nail to be hammered. And that includes things like, you know, various eating disorders, anxiety disorders, things that are clearly -- there's other things going on that's quite obvious and they're just mistreating them.
Doyle: So, Mia, just finally I want to ask you about a recent piece of investigative journalism in Quebec that showed just how dangerous WPATH's affirmative approach to gender medicine can be. Could you tell us, you know about this, you've written about this. The 14 year-old girl who was given hormones after a 17-minute appointment.
Hughes: That's right, I got that wrong actually. It turns out that she was given hormones after just 9 minutes. So, this is, it was a CBC, the French version of the CBC, they sent an actress in posing as a 14-year-old girl. She said that she had come across the idea of trans online and that she had an eating disorder. And within 9 minutes, this clinician had approved her for testosterone. Her parents weren't there, she didn't have parental consent. And when the journalist asked them about why they had done, that they said, I was just following WPATH. And in the WPATH standards of care, they pointed out, you need to do a comprehensive psychosocial assessment. And the clinician said, well I did, it's not duration it's the quality of the assessment.
So, in the wrong hands, such as this clinician, WPATH standards of care and this affirmative model can mean that you end up with 14-year-old girl getting testosterone after 9 minutes.
Doyle: Well, there's a lot to think about there. Michael Shellenberger and Mia Hughes, thanks so much for joining me tonight.
I'd like to emphasize that the leaked recordings and messages represent the views and remarks of certain members of WPATH, but they are not speaking in the capacity as spokespeople for the organization as a whole. And in addition, it is likely that WPATH itself would dispute the interpretation of these leaked conversations that had been made by the author of The WPATH Files and the associates. Now, we have of course reached out to WPATH and invited them to appear on the show, but they have declined.

anti-psych or psych critical?
this post is under a cut because it got pretty long and a bit dark/heavy. tw for discussion of medical trauma, suicidal thinking, and homophobia/transphobia.
our system would call ourselves psych critical as opposed to anti psych. we have some huge problems with the medical institution, the treatment of mental illness, and the way patients are often dehumanized in psychiatric fields. however, we rely on therapy to survive and we acknowledge decades of research have taught people more about psychology and the brain than we used to know. we’ll detail our experience with the institution and how it helped or hindered us. later we’ll make a post on what we believe the future of psychiatry could be.
we’ve been institutionalized three times, and only once was it voluntary. during the worst instance, we were grabbed off the street by cops for being suicidal and mentally ill in public. we were handcuffed, taken to the er and left alone in a small room with just a bed and a little table for 2 days. a nurse had to accompany us to the bathroom and we were occasionally brought food.
from there we were moved to a psych ward where we spent a little over a week. we were put on a high dosage of seroquel (an antipsychotic) without our consent that made us fatigued and drowsy beyond belief. we were allowed one 5 minute call per day, and were allowed visitors one day per week for one hour. we were misgendered often and experienced many instances of transphobia and homophobia while we were there.
each hospitalization caused us more harm than good. we were released into the world on a heavy dose of meds we didn’t need, totally unprepared to enter the real world, followed up with an expensive medical bill for our stays. we were never assigned a case worker, no one ever followed up with us, and we were sort of trusted by the system to get our shit together without any actual support.
it was awful. being institutionalized was traumatic for us, and the aftermath was downright dangerous.
we’ve also had bad experiences with therapy, and have gone through 5 therapists (currently we’re seeing our 6th!). our first 2 therapists were faith-based, and spent a lot of time trying to get us to pray for wellness, to repent in order to heal, and to stop having transgender and homosexual thoughts and feelings. we’ve had therapists who refused to listen to us or take our needs seriously, who treated us more like a lab experiment than an actual person in need of care. we know what it’s like to have a therapist who is not effective in their work and who doesn’t care about the safety of the patients they treat.
we’ve seen multiple psychiatrists, and have been through a meds circus trying to find something that works. when we told our psychiatrist that the prozac she put us on made us suicidal, she doubled our dosage (and surprise surprise, we were institutionalized not long after).
all this to say, we know personally what it’s like to be abused by the system. we recognize that there are many serious problems with the psych industry, and we have a lot of trauma from being mistreated by medical professionals.
but after all this, we still can’t call ourselves anti psych. we now have a good therapist who we trust, who we’ve been working with for 5 or 6 years now. we’re on medications that help us function, that help us deal with our depression and suicidal thoughts in a way that makes daily life more livable. we could not survive or function without these resources. therapy is helping us work on ourself, so we can learn how our mental illness affects us and how to effectively cope and manage our symptoms. it’s been a slow process, and we still have a long way to go, but we are honestly in a much better place than we were a few years ago thanks to regular therapy and the right medications that work for us.
we recognize that psychology as a field of study is still relatively new. we know that therapists are working off of theories and may not have a perfect understanding of all mental illnesses and how to treat them. psychologists are people, capable of making mistakes, being uneducated, or committing malpractice. but meds and therapy have given us hope for the future. therapy is giving us a chance to heal from our trauma and strive to become a better person. we know so many people whose lives were saved through meds and therapy.
what would psych reform look like? honestly this post got so long we will likely need to make another post to cover that. i guess what we want to say here is that, we absolutely understand that the current system is flawed, but it’s better than nothing and reforming the psych industry does not have to mean abolishing it altogether.

I can’t repeat the ask, but @crystalmemoria also asked for Misora to be answered in the ask meme, and I shall gratefully oblige. So, Misora it is!
(This might get long again uh-)
Oh, also, spoiler warning for games 1 and 2 and a lil’ bit of 3 (and also the anime)
Why I like them
Ok so to preface: Misora’s character differs so much between her game and anime appearances, so I’m gonna describe them separately.
To start, most people played the game first, so game version. Game version Misora is pretty clearly a foil to Subaru’s character: a character whose personality amplifies opposing characteristics of another’s. In this case, Misora and Subaru have similar backgrounds (dead parent(s), no friends, generally miserable,) but their reactions to their trauma is reflective on each other’s. Subaru’s trauma serves as his motivation, whereas Misora’s serves as her downfall. She lets her rage get the best of her, because unlike Subaru, she’s got a clear target, a source of her problems, her manager Kaneda. Instead of being presented with the oppourtunity to protect, she’s first presented with the oppourtunity to get revenge, and she can’t help but take it. But! Misora grows from her first fight (and knock-down,) finally having someone who was willing to quite literally go to the bat for her. Misora was Subaru’s first Brother, but while we don’t know how many Brothers Misora had up to that point, that link was definitely an important one to her, shown later on in game 1 with her stepping up to fight in Subaru’s place while he couldn’t function. It’s what gave her the metaphorical wake-up-call to fight against her years of engrained cynicism, the same way that Subaru being forced into combat forced him to re-examine his world view. Once Misora was given a chance to have a friend, someone she knew wouldn’t use or abuse her the way her manager (and probably other people in her job) had, or leave her like her mother did in death, she effectively became a new person -- she rejected her fear, and accepted the ideal that this world was worth protecting.
In Crystal’s previous submission about Subaru, I mentioned the expression “Noblesse Oblige”, or “Nobility Obliges”, the ideal that people with power and advantage should use it to help those who don’t. Effectively, “With great power comes great responsibility.” Misora leans into this ideal as well, once she begins to see individuals as precious, she begins to see the rest of the world as worth fighting for as well. She might be tough, but Misora ends up becoming another pillar of the team, another force to be reckoned with in the fight for Earth’s existence. While characters whose writing supports another is usually described as bad writing, in this instance it works very well -- Misora relies on Subaru to help her out of her darkest point, and in turn she helps him out by carrying on the fight when he couldn’t. The two are always there for each other. In real life, we rely on people around us all the time, and that’s not a bad thing! I wouldn’t be where I am without my friends, and Misora and Subaru are just the same, so are the Luna gang, so are everyone else. A core theme of Starforce’s story is the idea of not just the power of friendship, but the importance of friendship. Relying on others isn’t weakness, it’s pooling your strength, and multiplying it tenfold. Just like Subaru, Misora takes up the fight on the front lines, supported by the hopes and wishes of her friends, those who believe in her and support her, and that belief fuels her in turn.
Ok, as for the anime! Anime version Misora’s backstory is less detailed, so her home situation could be entirely different. She doesn’t seem to have suffered the extensive abuse she did in the game, especially given that anime version Kaneda is also more subdued. He’s a jerk, yes, but he’s not abusive. Misora here has much more of a backbone, so she likely hasn’t gone through as much trauma. We don’t know if her mother is alive or not, or if her father’s around, so it’s possible the major source of her trauma in the game is absent in the anime, and it would make sense for her personality here being much more optimistic and bold. Anime Misora is definitely cheerier and more optimistic, yes, but she’s also more carefree and transient. Harp had to trick Misora into cooperating here, since there just wasn’t anything Harp could prey on to coerce Misora into fighting as usual. However, Misora’s more upbeat nature serves as a sharp contrast to (anime) Subaru’s persistent negativity. Sadly, the anime doesn’t give the two much time to interact outside of combat until season 2 (so not much at all, given season 2′s length,) and she never gets to become part of the Luna gang (though she does meet Luna briefly while in Nanska in season 2.)
Letting Misora be directly involved in combat was more interesting, since she meshes well with Subaru both personality-wise and in terms of combat styles. Both are highly agile and quick on their feet, and Misora’s sharp enough to read people’s movements, including her allies. Speaking of allies, her interactions with Cancer Bubble on season 2 were also golden, though we don’t really get to see Cancer fight much, sadly. We hear a lot more of her casual interactions with Harp, as well, which mirror the rather heated discussions that we see often between Subaru and Warrock. In general, anime version Misora is an amusing and endearing character who fills a different role (pun intended?) from her game incarnation.
Why I don’t
As for her game version, while Misora is supported by her friends, she also tends to have relatively little trust in them at times. She’s easily coerced into doing things if the threat of harm to her friends is presented. Game 2 shows this best (spoiler warning!), with her decision to straight up side with the enemy when Orihime’s crew threatens to continue to pursue and fight Subaru (and Warrock) until they had obtrived the OOPArt from him. Even though it was pretty obvious they were going to keep pursuing Subaru no matter what, as long as he had the OOPArt, Misora became so terrified of her very dear friend being maimed or even killed, that she went along with their demands. (Hell, Hollow tells her explicitely after the fact that Orihime’s agreement was to leave Subaru alone after they’d gotten the OOPArt, which negated Misora’s whole reason to agree, and triggers her to finally put her trust in Subaru to take down Orihime.) Misora’s so terrified of losing everything she’s gained, that she leaps at any way to keep it all safe, without stopping to make sure she’s not being manipulated. I guess that’s not a negative to her writing, character flaws are good, but it is mildly annoying.
As for anime version, Misora doesn’t get to become a part of the main protagonist group, or Luna gang as I’ve been calling it, the way she does in the game. As stated above, Misora only ever directly meets one of them in season 2, when she runs into Luna in Nanska while there investigating with Subaru. (Yes, she also indirectly meets then in the whole ninja shenanigans a few episodes before, but she leaves too early to truly get to know them, and never reveals her identity to anybody. Actually, even Subaru didn’t seem to recognize her, or Cancer, who was standing next to her, which is just dumb.) I feel that season 2 was on track to give her more screentime, but it, of course, got cut tragically short.
In addition, the anime cutting Misora’s backstory isn’t necessarily bad, but I would have liked to see what her familial and living situation looked like in the show. All we ever see is Kaneda, so maybe he is her guardian as well, but I would’ve liked to have had a more concise answer.
Favorite episode (scene if movie)
In the game, her confrontation of Subaru when the main invasion begins. Subaru was refusing to do anything beyond shut himself in his room (in response to a traumatic event that had recently occurred,) and when Misora comes by to coerce him stop sulking, stating that she was caring about him and trying to help because she was his Brother, he cut her Brotherband connection in frustration. She responds back that, even if he cut the electronic link, there was still a connection between the two, that some bonds couldn’t be severed so easily. I sadly don’t have a reference to the scene right now, so I can’t give her exact wording, but this scene was a sort-of gut punch for me at times.
As for the anime, there’s a number of good scenes with Misora, but my favourites would be either harp’s rematch fight in episode 12(?), where Misora wakes up halfway through in confusion and throws Harp for a loop, or her formal meeting of Subaru in civilian forms from episode... 50, I think?, and their following pre-combat discussion and sort-of pep-talk.
Favorite season/movie
For the games, game 1 remains my favourite, though I will admit that game 3 so far (no, I still haven’t finished it, I’m lazy-) has had a lot of screentime for Misora, which is fantastic.
As for the anime, Tribes still gave Misora more justice than season 1, despite its shorter length. Her interactions with not just Subaru, but also Amachi and Utagai, made her feel more solidly a part of the cast than before.
Favorite line
Sadly, I can’t remember any specific line of Misora’s at the moment, but whenever I replay game 1 again (which isn’t gonna be long from now, as usual,) I’ll make a post about whatever I can find.
Favorite outfit
Her main stage outfit, with the lapel jacket and the mini top hat! I kinda wanna wear it myself, ehe~
The yukata(?) outfit she has briefly in season 2 is also really cute!
OTP
Shockingly, I don’t really ship Misora at all. She just doesn’t feel to me like the type who cares about relationships, y’know?
Brotp
Misora/Harp is amusing, of course Misora/Subaru, but one we don’t get to see much of is Misora/Luna, which is a damn travesty. In the game, they hit it off immediately, and in the anime it’d be so funny to imagine them actually formally meeting.
Head Canon
In the game at least, let me point out: Luna plays the piano, and is considered a prodigy at it. Could you imagine if Misora recruited Luna to perform a two-man show? I want.
Also, like I mentioned in the previous post about Subaru, I imagine that Misora would’ve developed some impressive scars from combat, though maybe less than Subaru given her general ranged fighting style. She tries to insist on doing her makeup herself, in order to avoid drawing suspicion about said scars, and when that’s inevitably rejected, she recruits on of her regular band members to help her instead of whatever makeup person was on-site. That band member remains the only one to find out, at least until she has a wound treated by Akane late in season 1, where some of the scarring becomes visible to Akane (who’s confused and concerned,) and Subaru helping nearby (who’s more relieved to see that he’s not alone.)
Unpopular opinion
There are unpopular opinions about Misora?
A wish
I want to see her character set-up in season 2 to come to fruition!
An oh-god-please-dont-ever-happen
If she bites the dust I’m storming Capcom myself.
5 words to best describe them
Cheery, PINK!, melancholic, optimistic, friendly.
My nickname for them
“The First Hibiki”, in reference to me routinely referring to Magia Record’s Hibiki Meguru as “The Other Hibiki.”

AI in the Manufacturing Industry: Use Cases, Benefits & More
Tumblr media
“Some people call this artificial intelligence, but the reality is this technology will enhance us. So instead of artificial intelligence, I think we’ll augment our intelligence.”
–  Klaus Schwab
Artificial Intelligence (AI) has grown massively over the past decade. In fact, we are pretty sure that most of you would be familiar with “Alexa” or “Ok Google”, which are present in our everyday lives, in the form of home assistants.
Now, that was about your daily life and the usage of AI for every day. But if we say that AI has ventured into the manufacturing industry as well and it is booming? Would you believe us? After the AI in IT article, we are quite sure based on our facts, figures, and research that Artificial Intelligence in the manufacturing industry has opened doors to several possibilities.
So, in this article, let’s cover all of those aspects and how the manufacturing industry is changing ever since the involvement of automation in the industry.
The Role of AI in Manufacturing: Understanding the History & Modern-Day Solution
AI’s role began in manufacturing by the 1980s, where many businesses were searching for various ways to improve efficiency. Hence, AI came into the role where manufacturers used AI applications to capture and share worker knowledge. In short, rather than depending on clipboards, notes or word of mouth, the employees who worked in manufacturing factories codify knowledge into software systems. What are those software systems you ask? Well, those are computerized maintenance management systems, also known as CMMS, or manufacturing execution systems, that stands for MES. These two made the employees’ life easy. How? They made information-sharing convenient and faster while streamlining production through automation and providing real-time data collection and more.
If you ask about “the current scenario of AI in the manufacturing sector”, then we can say that in today’s world, AI is advanced and it hands down working for quality control, robotics, predictive maintenance and even safety hazard detection.
In fact, with the use of sensors to detect mechanical issues, like abnormal vibrations or temperature spikes, AI can alert the appropriate personnel about the problem and can also tell them How, When and with Which Tool, this problem can be fixed. See, modern day requires modern solutions, and this is just an example, we have a dedicated section of AI use cases in the manufacturing industry, that will talk about all the major use cases and how AI was helpful.
Did you know Modern-Day smart manufacturing solutions like L2L Dispatch, feature these along with many more AI-driven capabilities. That’s why the reports, according to MarketsandMarkets, are talking about how AI in manufacturing industry is expected to grow at a whopping $16.7 billion by 2026.
We say that the more shop floor workers have interactive sessions with AI-enabled technologies, it means the smarter these technologies will become and make their future better.
Major Use Cases of AI in Manufacturing Industry
Tumblr media
1. The Rise of Cobots in Manufacturing Sector
Have you ever wondered who lifts all these heavy machinery in the manufacturing industry? It’s Cobots, short for Collaborative Robots who frequently work alongside humans and function as their extra hands. Cobots can learn many tasks. For instance, they can detect and avoid obstacles on the way. In fact, people who work in manufacturing often rely on cobots to do heavy lifting. For example, cobots in automotive factories are used to lift heavy car parts and hold them in place while human workers work on securing them. These cobots, ever since its development, have also been able to locate and retrieve items in large warehouses.
2. The Concept of Predictive Maintenance in Manufacturing Sector
Manufacturing plants, railroads or other users of heavy machinery have started to use AI-based predictive maintenance (PdM) in servicing needs. If an equipment isn’t maintained properly and in a timely manner, then that firm would lose money and their precious time. Plus, if an organization does it quickly then also it’s a problem. Hence, PdM systems help to work on those issues by predicting what replacement parts will be needed and when. It also helps the workers because timely maintenance leads to better safety.
If you are wondering how PDM does all this, then it makes use of analytic capabilities of ML algorithms along with data from IoT sensors embedded in the equipment to monitor their conditions. Thus, helping workers and companies in finding out the issue before time.
3. The Use of AI in Supply Chain Management
We are sure that you must have come across the term supply chain management in manufacturing and would have noticed how big of a role it plays in the manufacturing sector. So, how does AI help in supply chain management? Typically, large manufacturers have supply chains with millions of orders, materials purchases, ingredients and what not. Handling these manually is energy draining and time consuming. To solve this, AI is used. But there’s more to AI in the supply chain.
For example, AI-powered demand forecasting accurately predicts trends and supply chain disruptions based on previous data collection. Also, when it comes to tracking shipments and on-time delivery of goods then AI helps by analyzing data and identifying patterns, helping managers make informed decisions.
4. AI is Excelling in Product Development
Another great example of artificial intelligence in the manufacturing industry is through development of newer products. AI helps to quickly glance through various data, wherein it acts like a benefit to help manufacturing industries decide what products to bring next in the market. AI also helps engineers to design new products, where they talk about what they want, and it creates several options where they can have a look at. This makes the design process faster and better.
How AI in Quality Assurance Is Impacting?
In the manufacturing sector, especially when it comes to electronics, paying close attention to every little detail is crucial. In the past, ensuring the quality of electronics and microprocessors was a manual task, carried out by skilled engineers who meticulously checked if everything was manufactured correctly and if all the circuits were properly set up.
But times have changed! Thanks to automation and AI, we now have image processing algorithms that can do this job automatically. Imagine installing cameras at strategic locations on the factory floor. These cameras can instantly and continuously assess whether each item being produced is flawless. With this smart technology, we can achieve real-time and efficient sorting of products. It’s like having a team of super-precise inspectors working tirelessly, ensuring that every single item meets the highest quality standards.
What are the Benefits of Artificial Intelligence in Manufacturing?
Tumblr media
⦁ Improved Quality Control As you may know, AI is fast and when it comes to the manufacturing industry then AI can make the quality control faster. AI with its automation techniques can pick up microscopic errors and issues, improving productivity and defect detection by 90%.
⦁ 24/7 Support Artificial Intelligence in the manufacturing sector can work round the clock performing tasks with the same level of energy and accuracy. It doesn’t make mistakes or get injured, it works in any conditions and can operate a factory efficiently at any time.
⦁ Inventory/Warehouse Management  AI helps with keeping track of things in warehouses. It goes through the historical data to check sales, stock inventory, trends and what not. This makes warehouses save money and have enough products. For instance, a clothing store can use AI to predict the things that people are interested in buying. It can check the past sales and weather forecasts to keep the right clothes. This helps them to store the exact amount of clothes.
⦁ Enhanced Productivity AI is good at simplifying complex calculations and coding and can-do tasks automatically, saving engineers precious time. With AI-driven automation, manufacturing employees can focus on creative aspects of their job, increasing productivity and unlocking the full potential. Along with that AI boosts productivity by providing easy access to insights, where engineers can quickly find suitable solutions for specific products.
What Are the Future Trends & Forecast About AI in Manufacturing?
Tumblr media
Did you know Manufacturing sector is said to see great potential in the future? According to a survey by Deloitte, it is said that about 93% of firms are confirming that AI will play a pivotal role in technology to drive innovation and growth in manufacturing.
Here are some of the important statistics we have gathered to help you understand how big of an impact AI will have in the future. So, if you are interested, then let’s get into the actual facts.
 Enhanced automation and robotics
Predictive maintenance and smart asset management
Advanced quality control and defect detection

Crowd vandalizes self-driving taxi and then sets it on fire in San Francisco - but where is the Left?
I did predict something similar in my video about robotaxis, as they are expensive, upper middle class tech-toys. This would, and seemingly has already made them a prime target for spontaneous public anger.
We live in an era of increasing wealth inequality, with nascent megacorporations controlling an ever-larger share of global wealth flows at the expense of nation states. Case in point, in a few years we'll get to "celebrate" the world's first trillionaire. This imbalance causes the old system of welfare and social democracy to break down, since financing those becomes increasingly difficult.
In simple terms, the money that could have paid for, say, a million citizens' annual pension is now sitting on a billionaire's offshore bank account, out of reach for tax authorities.
Due to this increasing economic pressure, people are not at all satisfied with how things are going, but most political systems around the world have yet to come up with an alternative. Our current choices in most democracies are:
A) more of the same, maybe a bit nicer
B) crazy far-right isolationist populism
As tensions grow, we'll see more and more instances of such spontaneous displays of public anger. Meanwhile, the far-right is going full steam ahead with culture war narratives, and it's proving relatively popular across the democratic world despite offering zero policy solutions. It's a completely vapid, empty, cynical ploy to get people riled up, while offering absolutely no solutions to any of the problems we face, economic or social.
The global far-right can get away with this empty culture war rhetoric and gain popularity with it, because their only real opponents are the centrists, who do not, cannot promise anything new, or fundamentally different. Many people find even the empty culture war narratives preferable to ineffective centrism, which is understandable.
So we have the far-right facing off the centrists, but where is the political Left? They are completely absent from the political landscape, unable to capitalize on public discontent. It feels like, while far-right thought leaders are out there protesting against various human rights loud and proud, torches in hand, leftist thought leaders are instead buried in dusty political scripture published a century and a half ago, in the dark corners of cafes and community centers.
The right is energized: eager, able and willing to spread their ideas of ethnic nationalism, ultraconservatism, the eradication of trans people, and the threat a gender-neutral Mr Potatohead poses to Western Civilization. They will find you, and they will tell you all about it. They scream it from the rooftops. They take meticulous care to remind you at every opportunity that the West™ is falling because of trans rights and brown people, and also because the female M&M mascot is not as sexy now. They. Will. Tell. You.
Meanwhile the left languishes, on two fronts.
Online, the left wallows in their own, perceived sense of superiority. They already figured it all out, they have the Holy Grail, the schematics of the Ultimate System in their hands. If only the stupid normies™ could realize how correct their ideology is, we could solve literally every problem tomorrow! "You want to know how our ideal world would function? Why should WE waste our time to explain? Educate yourself." The fundamental problem with the online left is that they view their own political positions as an achievement, having been smart enough to figure it all out. This turns their ideology into a precious object, something to shelter and cherish, and to put on a pedestal, as opposed to spreading it like wildfire among the populace. The fewer people believe what they believe, the more "valuable" the ideas are. If 8 billion people believed what they believe, many online leftists would lose their sense of self-worth. Their beliefs would no longer be "special". They would just be ordinary, as opposed to their current self-perception of politics-savvy whiz kids who have "figured it all out", as opposed to the stupid libs™ and normies™. Their sense of self-worth is dependent on their ideology remaining a highly esoteric niche held by a select, almost messianic few. This renders them politically irrelevant however.
The other front where the left wallows is actual, real-life political activism. Many leftist organizations, groups, "movements" and the like seem to be stuck in the past, and are often terminally over-professionalized. Their websites are incomprehensible, outdated, filled with esoteric text unintelligible to the average person. Some organize events, most often talks and presentations on high-level leftist socio-economics, attended by the same dozen people for the past decade. They hold valuable and interesting, pro-human political positions, they just have absolutely no ability and/or willingness to popularize them. Thus they remain on the political sidelines, doomed to irrelevance, churning out posts and pamphlets read by the same hundred people who already agree with them.
The only successful left-leaning politicians are social democrats, who live on borrowed time due to the aforementioned economic tendencies. Systemic economic changes are needed, such as economic (workplace) democracy, but social democrats cannot deliver those; their ideology does not entail such systemic changes. If it did, they would be leftists, not social democrats.
And so here we are. The far-right is going full steam ahead with endless, empty culture war narratives. Centrists are standing chest-deep in proverbial water, scoffing at far-fetched rumors about Atlantis sinking into the ocean. Online leftists are preoccupied with maintaining their ouroboros human centipede of a political community on Twitter. Political activist leftists are busy pouring endless time and energy into events and resources no one will ever engage with or care about. Of these four groups, one is gaining increasing popularity: the far right, in lieu of a popular alternative, which the political left refuses to provide.
We live in an era of populism and political polarization. The injustices, inefficacies and contradictions of our current system are about to culminate. A far-right populist wave is upon us, that centrism won't be able to stop. Centrism itself has become obsolete: there is no middle ground between "human rights" and "eradicate trans people", among many others. The chips are about to fall, and when they do, the stronger side wins. We need a popular, populist leftist antithesis to counter the far-right. For that however, the left needs to be made politically relevant again.
So how does one make the left politically relevant? What can an individual do on the left, if they want to see actual political change in their favor? Turns out, lots of things. Here are some of the things I would do in their place:
Mindset change. FORGET words such as "Marx", "Engels", "Lenin", "theory", "bourgeois", and most of everything in that realm. You don't "care" about Marx, Das Kapital, theory, and so on. You don't even know what those are. All you know is, it's strange how workplaces operate like monarchies to this day, and you'd like workers to have more say in how moderate-to-large businesses are run. Also Jeff Bezos needs to be taxed more.
Political engagement. Political parties rarely shift left or right because enough socially awkward people liked a smarmy, passive-aggressive tweet deriding one of their positions. Political parties shift far more often via new people with new ideas joining their ranks, and then spreading those new ideas within. This is partly why the Republican party is shifting to the far-right so quickly: far-right lunatics have infiltrated them over the years, and have become powerful enough to paralyze the old, neoconservative establishment, see the circus surrounding aid to Ukraine. Join a sympathetic, VIABLE political party. Get to know people. Go to events. Take part in speaking events. Introduce your leftist political ideas in a friendly, digestible, agreeable way. Change minds within the party.
Pro level: public speaking. If you do become a member of a political party, sign up for a public speaking course. Read Carnegie's book on the subject. Become a good orator. Most politicians' public speeches are not more than dry monologues that would put a person on cocaine to sleep. Instead, you can become the living triforce of political effectiveness:
1) an effective and entertaining orator, who 2) shares their pro-human, progressive ideas 3) in an agreeable and digestible way.
This is what I would do in the place of the concerned leftist. Additionally, if an angry crowd torched a self-driving taxi, I would be there to condemn the violence, then lament the regrettable influence that such untested, hazardous vehicles have on our cities, resulting in an unsurprising outburst of emotions from locals who want their neighborhood back, living in the shadow of massive corporations and their disproportionate, growing influence, including on our cities.
