I love how every single time, without fail, that I have a random thought about a cool show I watched on Netflix where I’m like “Oh yeah, I remember that show. It was pretty good. When’s the next season coming out?” and the answer every single time is: “It was cancelled.”

I just found out The Irregulars isn’t getting a season 2, despite season 1 having done pretty well. Probably old news for most, but it just popped into my head and I’m like let me look it up. CUE MY COMPLETE LACK OF SURPRISE to find out it was cancelled.

Netflix really is the fucking worst streaming platform, bar none. So far both Hulu and Amazon have only cancelled one show that I liked, whereas Netflix has cancelled like twenty at least by now. I have zero interest in getting involved in anything that isn’t a guaranteed hit or a one-off because they’re just gonna cancel it.

Why Six of Crows/Shadow and Bone Fans Should Watch Lockwood & Co. on Netflix coming 27 January:

A main trio that is arguably more idiotic, incompetent, and chaotic (said affectionately) than Inej, Kaz and Jesper in S&B.

For Six of Crows lovers, L&C also has mystery! betrayal! criminal underworlds! underdog story! trauma! teenagers/young adults battling the establishment/authority.

Witty, sarcastic, and dry British humour (which contrasts well with the horror).

Main heroine’s bff is a talking decapitated skull in a jar.

Ghosts! Sinister plots! Characters exploring the fabric between life and death!

Lots of action with rapiers fighting ghost and human enemies alike!

As fellow book-to-screen Netflix adaption enthusiasts, please assist us in streaming this show, coming out 27 January 2023, so it doesn’t get canned. We are but a small fandom and are slightly (very) desperate.

I'm cancelling Netflix and letting them know that it's because of their history of cancelling shows after only one or two seasons that have queer leads have poc leads and are very well received by critics and viewers alike

headcanons for the irregulars show

i dont think this show has a fandom at all but i think its cute so

contains spoilers!!

-bea ends up going to billy when all is said and done. i know that she was in love with leo but i doubt she ever sees him again and you cant deny that they had chemistry

-if leo DID come back however, i think bea can love both billy and leo. fuck love triangles its a throuple now

-like billy, as mad as he was at leo at the start, did care for him. he checked in with him, made sure he was alright, even when he hated him. when they were riding back from mycroft's manor, billy was sitting up top. obvs they couldnt fit 5 kids inside, so i think billy offered to ride outside so leo wouldnt have to try and climb.

-watson gets them all out of the cellar and they all live in 221b from now on. he's got more than enough space and there's no way he doesnt feel something for those kids. whether its love for them like a father, debt to sherlock and alice, or just generally realizing he has every ability to help.

-watson moves on!! the kids help him. he finds someone else who isnt an opium addict.

-the girl jessie lets go in ep.4 comes back after all the powers are lost, and i think she joins the crew. she was just wanting revenge and yet someone on her side. jessie was that. i think jessie could convince the gang to let her in. they dont tell watson tho. he figures it out, and just accepts it.

-bea still runs the house. even if it's watson's house. she runs it.

i WILL say that billy was always better for bea. he knew her better, he was always at her side, and he literally risked dying for her multiple times. leo could never hold a steady relationship with her. he lusted after her before he loved her, lied nearly all of their relationship. it was never gonna work

I was watching Sex Education (bc I want to see Connor Swindells being gay) on Netflix and I saw something, or rather someone...

Dont tell me this little man right here( Jojo Macari) doesn’t look like a younger version of or perhaps younger brother of:

Paul Boche! They have the exact same lips, same slightly buggy, blue eyes, same browbone, even their dark under-eyes are the same! The only differences are that Jojo has a more square-ish face and that his hairline is a bit more receded( though it’s hard to see it here) but other than that the recemblance is uncanny.

Give me a movie where they play brothers and Paul(s character) gives his little brother a slap in the back of the head as they are walking out of the police station in the wee hours of the morning to his car and tells him that “you can’t keep pulling shit like this or mom is gonna disown you!” and Jojo(s character) just sulks in the passenger seat with his arms crossed and grumbles that “it wasn’t my fault, it was that idiot who started it”.

Upcoming Netflix series: The Irregulars

 Just stumbled on this recent article about an upcoming Netflix series, The Irregulars. I know the relatively minor characters of the Baker Street Irregulars have been presented in film and TV a few times in the past, but they don't seem to have been as popular in those media as those other minor characters, Professor Moriarty and  Irene Adler. I did think it was funny that, at the very top of the linked article, there was a picture of Martin Freeman and Benedict Cumberbatch, even though they have absolutely nothing to do with the upcoming series. (I guess that's how the Internet works, though. You have to catch the eye.)

​I will have to remember to follow announcements about the series, and check it out when it's released. Just another example of how Sherlock Holmes storytelling shows no sign of slowing down in the 21st century!

‘The Irregulars’ - OMG BAD!

Just started watching ‘The Irregulars’ on Netflix - 3 episodes in and I can see why it got canceled with one season. The villain in the first two episodes is a Ouija board. Episode Three is the ‘Golden Dawn/Tarot deck episode’ - all the characters have corrupted names of the original members of the Golden Dawn, and one character is a composite of Pamela Colman Smith and actress Ellen Terry. Too bad PCS was not part of the GD inner circle as depicted here! Also -  one character has read books on Tarot - would have been extremely rare, if they existed. Also - the deck used is a rip of the Rider-Waite-Smith deck - since the show is set in Victorian times - (Queen Victoria died in 1901} - the Rider hasn’t been created yet (1910)! Lots of liberties in this show! If the deck used is actually a real deck - let me know!

The Truth about Lockwood & Co.'s cancelation and The Dead Boy Detectives! Well, now that I have your attention, the truth is... And brace yourselves. It's a doozy. They're not related. They just coincidentally deal with teens solving supernatural themed mysteries. This isn't the first time Netflix has had such a show. In 2021 The Irregulars was a Sherlock Holmes story about the street urchins who often helped him solve crimes, with a supernatural twist.

Lockwood & Co. was NOT canceled to make room for The Dead Boy Detectives. The Dead Boy Detectives had been in development since September 2021 when the characters (played by two different actors) appeared in Doom Patrol. The show was originally going to be on HBO Max but after a big shake up at HBO Max (now Max) The Dead Boy Detectives was moved to Netflix to better connect it with The Sandman since they started as characters in The Sandman comics. Yes, the shows are both about supernatural themed mysteries (particularly ghosts) and teens but The Dead Boy Detectives are... well, dead. And it's a spin-off of The Sandman. The Dead Boy Detectives are NOT why Lockwood & Company was canceled. The show was in production before Lockwood was even canceled. Boycotting The Dead Boy Detectives will NOT bring back Lockwood. This is deja vu of when Lucifer finally, properly, ended at season 6 with a grand finale. There were some fans convinced that Lucifer was canceled (a second time) to make room for The Sandman since Lucifer started as a character in The Sandman and in The Sandman Lucifer was to be played by Gwendoline Christie instead of Tom Ellis. Some Lucifer fans boycotted The Sandman out of spite or believed that if they could get The Sandman canceled it would somehow bring back Lucifer. Thankfully nothing ever came of this misguided behavior and the behavior from some Lockwood fans is equally misguided. The Sandman did not cause Lucifer to get canceled. And The Dead Boy Detectives did not cause Lockwood & Co. from getting canceled. The plot similarities are coincidence. The Dead Boy Detectives first appeared in The Sandman in 1991. No one at Netflix said "These shows are too similar, let's axe one to install the other." Do you have any idea how many similar shows are on Fox or on the CW? "Too similar to a show we would rather do" is not a common reason for a show being canceled.
