I binged all of Network Effect yesterday and I’m still thinking about how Martha Wells slowly built up alien remnants as a big fucking deal only to finally show us just why they’re a big fucking deal.

ASR introduces the idea of what alien remnants are and the fact that staying away from them is the one thing that everyone in the Corporation Rim can agree upon. AC brings up the importance of being able to identify “strange synthetics” with the stolen data. RP takes place on GrayCris’s secret remnants mining installation/fake failed terraforming facility. ES probably has the least to do with alien remnants beyond to the ongoing crime leading to GrayCris’s downfall being tied to their illegal mining operations and subsequent bad choices.

Alien remnants are a constant topic of interest in the story but it’s always been through the lens of GrayCris’s illegal exploitation. They’re a thing to be found, filtered out, studied, and like all resources in the CR, exploited (if you can get away with it). With what we know about the CR’s capitalist hellscape where corporations have more rights than individual people, the fact that this specific activity is illegal enough that they can’t bribe their way out of it is extremely damning. NE takes this ongoing detail and then takes it out of the context of GrayCris and the CR and puts it in context with colonization and then suddenly it’s not a resource to be exploited but something doing the exploitation. The explanation of why the whole CR is on the same page about alien remnants has always felt a little lacking and NE answers it by introducing and enforcing the idea that unknown remnants are a clear and present danger not to the corporation as a whole but to the individuals that make up the corporations.

Alien remnant contamination as an idea is introduced early on in the story and then slowly and surely built upon as the characters go from speculating about possible contamination to MB waking up from a systems failure next to the remnant and the source of the contamination. It’s masterfully done horror and excellent worldbuilding. I don’t want to go deep into spoilers but the book takes a concept that has been stated constantly to be bad in general, and explains in detail why this is bad for our characters specific.

#listened to all his vtmb lines and im rotating them #the way he talks about empathy and humanity #and all the lines he has with the gangrel fledgling about the protean discipline #i might make a compilation of the ones where im like 👀 but ill need to find a theme for it #just a very complex character which this game and series usually does pretty well #definitely fixated on beckett though tourettes autism legend #and just the way he talks is like so pretentious but its not to impress you or anyhting thats just how he is #ALSO i love how this one line kind of confirms that hes hiding a british accent in vtmb #he doesnt have a very british accent in vtmb except for when he calls out to you on the street near the end #in some parts of the diary hes described as having an accent and in the transcripts from the uk the dialogue itself sounded more bri'ish

INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE SEASON TWO PREDICTION & POSSIBLE SPOILERS =========>>>>>>

2x1 is going to be about the revenants & Claudia & Louis being bitter towards each other in Europe . Louis seeing Lestat's hallucination .

2x2 arrival to Paris meeting the vampire Armand & the coven of theater the vampires .

2x3 Flashbacks to Armand & Lestat relationship & Nickolas . Parts of Lestat backstory & Armand's back story told by Armand in Dubai to Daniel .

2x4 Armand & Louis's relationship starting to form Lestat present in their relationship Louis & Armand hook up . Claudia as an actress & Louis & Claudia's fight about Louis choosing someone else over her . Claudia meeting Madeline after her show in the theater . Some bitterness shaping between Louis & Armand at the end of the episode in the Dubai timeline . Claudia starting to resent the vampires in the theater . " FUCK theses vampires " she will start resenting Armand too .

2x5 Flashbacks to the 70s . The first interview between Young Daniel & Louis . With Armand also present there . Louis's & Daniel's conversation starts heating up When Daniel tells Louis that he doesn't even know the meaning of his story & hinting to his story having missing pieces & he's not reliable so Louis gets in a fight with him . Some parts of Armand & young Daniel relationship which most people who got the screener said it was so interesting & intense & they were specifically asked not to spoil this part anywhere . Which makes me even more hopeful about the possibility of Devil's minion happening . But not fully . At least we'll get some hints of how Armand & Daniel's relationship started . ( Hopefully ) . Some Alice hints

2x6 Claudia demanding Louis to make her a companion because she feels Louis is gonna leave him & that she's in danger from Armand & the others . And then it leads to Making of the Vampire Madeline or so called the " woman vampire" by Louis & Claudia both . And Louis & Armand & Claudia & Madeline going to celebrate the new fledgling & new beginning . And Then Louis will finally be informed by Armand that it was him who used his powers on Louis to make him want to make Madeline & Louis . And Louis will try to leave Armand out of Anger & when he does & when he goes back to Claudia & Madeline the vampires of the theater arrest them & take them to the trial . This episode will end with Louis seeing the REAL LESTAT for the first time . And that would be the cliff hanger . + A new character will be introduced either from the Mayfair universe or one of the oldest vampires under cover . Or maybe just a new character .

2x7 it will be Santiago asking questions as the judge but being nasty about it . Some truth will definitely come out . Claudia's hatred towards Louis will become more vivid . She will blame Louis as much blaming Lestat . Only 1x7 will be revisited to reveal it was actually Claudia who killed Lestat . And the reason she chose Louis over Lestat as a companion . All her manipulation & her using Louis . Lestat's crimes are also gonna be called in as well . Like making a vampire so young . Like abusing Claudia & Louis & probably Louis & Claudia saying their maker ( Lestat ) never taught them any rules . But Claudia won't beg for mercy & that's her doom . She will probably say Lestat deserved it & she would do it again . ( Foreshadowing to what her ghost told Louis in Merrick ) Claudia will be called guilty & so will Louis & Madeline . Claudia & Madeline will be executed. And Louis will seek revenge & burn the theater down by the end of Ep 7 .

A : 2x8 you might say that while Louis knows everything about Claudia's death then why is he with Armand still ? I think the answer to this question is because Louis himself still doesn't know what Armand actually did to Claudia or what he could have done with Lestat back in Paris after her death . There are probably many things Louis is definitely going to see more clearly after episode 7 . The diaries will gather together Louis will know the real truth about Armand possibly Cutting Claudia's head & attaching it to another body & that how much she really resented Louis . 1x5 will most likely be revisited in the last episode as well because it wasn't mentioned in any reviews about Ep 1_6 . we'll get to see if Armand tampered with that memory or it was all really just from a different POV ? ( My anticipation is , it was hugely Armand's tampering with that memory ) . This will make Louis act out badly . BUT my dilemma is whether this will end to his suicide or him Going back to New Orleans to find Lestat again .

B : If the NOLA scenes & loustat hug scene are from 2000 then the suicide is more possible . BUT IF the NOLA reunion is in 2023 then I didn't think Louis would have a reason to commit suicide other than Claudia's resentment or Lestat's rejection to have him again . Also I noticed something that I think some other fans noticed as well . in the reunion scene there seems to be blood in Lestat's head it's like sticky blood on his hair when Louis hugs him Louis also has a cut on his finger which hasn't healed fast so that might have happend when Louis tries to hurt Lestat believing he's hallucinating him again but when Lestat bleeds & probably starts falling down being in a weak state & doesn't disappear after a long time Louis will realize that Lestat is actually real . But something important happens after this . Which will reveal the real Lestat as a big ending & possible opening for S3

. C : we'll also probably get hints of Armand & Daniel's relationship too in the last episode that hints at what actually happened between them . And what will happen to their relationship in 2023 & hopefully in S3 .

Hi! I don't know if this has been asked before (it feels like it will have been) and my apologies if it has but:

If Louis recovering his memories from Armand's mind control thing... Why is Armand allowing this second interview to go ahead? Especially when Daniel is obviously able to get to Louis?

Hey! :)

well... for one I think it needs to be differentiated what "control" is... Like, canonically Armand spellbinds Louis on several occasions in Paris. For example. That... is for more selfish reasons, I would say, we will see how they will spin it in the show.

Later on though, when he seems to have "tinkered" (as Assad called it) in the show... that was likely done in an effort to "help", imho - because he does love Louis. And Louis suffers. The things Louis will remember now... will not be pretty. On the contrary, it will be beyond painful what will be uncovered.

And then, of course, there is the aspect of "the Devil's Minion" having happened in the past (as I am quite sure we will get to see at least parts of in the upcoming seasons)... Armand loves Daniel, Daniel who book canonically becomes his only fledgling.

So, with that in mind...

We know Daniel was kept track off, the package with the tapes arrives in his post box without an address on it (for example), his medical status is known, and there is medicine for him there, which was prepared, and which is not what they claim it to be (the side effects don't match, as noted by others).

I think Louis might have... come to the conclusion at some point that a few things do not match, and I think... that he leveraged the idea of redoing the interview, in an effort to get Daniel to Dubai, and in an effort to slay multiple dragons at once:

Redo the interview. Find out what his subconscious is telling him, what Armand might be hiding (possibly hidden with Louis knowing !- that is also a possibility, that he asked for the memories to be taken away, but has doubts now?! We'll see^^)

Reunite Armand and Daniel, because he does not want Armand to be alone after... because Louis is tired. And if Claudia's diaries are used as I think they will be (as the catalyst they were in the books), then this season will end rather... cataclysmic.

Find a way to at least prolong Daniel's life. As noted above the medicine Daniel gets had to be prepared, and Fareed's presence is no coincidence, it hints at... certain things. (Fareed is the physician/scientist of the vampires in the later books).

Armand... Armand "allows" this because he needs to prolong Daniel's life, wants to see him again, and... loves Louis. And there is also the aspect that what he is keeping from Louis and Daniel - if deliberately or by promise - must weigh quite heavily on him.

I think there is at least a tiny part of him which looks forward to it all being revealed, because being the only one to know the truth... must be a heavy burden.

... ultimately I think it's not clear cut. "Decisions are made of kneaded feelings" (to quote Hannibal here) and all that.

There are a lot of aspects playing into it all. And a lot of them have to do with potential (and very real) emotional hurt.

Which is also (I think) why he decided on a role play at first - to protect his heart, more than anything else.

IWTV Ep6 - Rewind the Tape

"After Louis tells Claudia that Lestat wants him to know he's still cheating, Claudia compares Lestat to her rapist, with the show literally putting Bruce's image over his. Immediately after, Louis' narration tells us he'd become numb and dissociated, "a vessel of acceptance." What do you think Claudia, Louis, and the show itself are suggesting about consent in this new domestic arrangement?"

A lot of the fandom H A T E S that Claudia was raped (even more than the Loustat fight), and they especially hate what Rolin Jones said about it toughening her up. But despite its inclusion/execution/explanation, I DO see where RJ was going with it all; as I've also mentioned how Claudia & Louis were deliberately put on the same level, as were Lestat and Bruce.

We know Carol Cutshall designed Lestat's matador costume for the "villain sequence" in Ep5 to emphasize his patriarchal hegemony over "the housewife and the mistake." Matador in Spanish literally means "killer." Through the matador costume, AMC brilliantly tied the Wolfkiller Lestat with Bruce the Killer.

We also have a hard time w/ instances of physical/sexual violence by Les against Lou--I saw a spicy post just the other day about whether or not the Disassociating scene was Les raping Lou or not.

I think in Lou's mind, sex with Les while he was disassociating wasn't rape. Louis himself pointed out that Lestat's affair with Antoinette was all tangled up in Lou's lack of libido due to his diet; and his later depression, ignoring Les' "considerable considerables." He WANTS Lestat ("I wanted him dead, I wanted him all to myself"), and when he comes back online he IS into it, cuz he loves the stupid man. I think he DOES consent, and TRIES to stay present--but "there were THREE of you" in that bed, and in that relationship.

I think in Claudia's mind, Lestat really was raping Louis. I think SHE had put Lestat & Bruce on the same level, convinced that Les felt the same way about Lou that Bruce did about her--and that Lou felt the same way about Les that she did--not understanding Loustat at all.

Claudia trips people up a lot wrt arrested development & stunted growth--she's either a little girl or a SUPER old woman or both or neither. How much can she REALLY know, process & experience?

Cuz in some ways, AMC!Lestat (& book!Louis) kinda did rape Claudia. Aside from the more sexual meaning, one can take "rape" in the original Latin sense (rapio/rapere: "to snatch, grab, carry off, abduct, rape, steal"); or we can take it in the vampiric sense, turning Claudia without her consent, and force/violence done to one's fledglings. Les is a bad Maker to Louis, but GODAWFUL to Claudia.

Lestat even puts himself above & beyond Bruce, saying he can and WILL do far worse than "defiling her pocket;" he'll KILL her.

Lestat snatched away Claudia's consent, & snatched her from the train crying & sobbing. He violated her autonomy just like he'd violated her privacy by reading her diary when Louis told him not to.

And what's sad is that because Claudia's a sadist like her father, she was initially charmed by Bruce & how he killed; just like she was charmed by Lestat's "extravagant" killing style. "He had a way about him." AMC!Claudia's the one who gives Bruce his epithet, but in the books his his name's just Killer (IIRC he's never given a real name).

But we soon see the gradual jadedness in Claudia. Her killing loses the bubbly giggling glee from her early years, as she becomes cold & far more calculating/methodical. Plus, she realizes that the men in her life that she initially THOUGHT were great heroes & "knights" & "angels" that had saved her, were really just HELL DEMONS. Lestat's not a cheeky "Brat" anymore, he's the frikkin Devil. The "darkness in her that wasn't there before" Lestat talks about is just REALITY; the dawning realization that Lestat, Louis, Bruce, NONE of these men were good to her. All good things died with Charlie.

She's desperate to go to Europe, cuz she's holding onto hope like a lifeline, that not all vampires are as bad as Bruce & Lestat. Unfortunately, Lestat was right when he said they're actually vicious and "far worse" in Europe. 😬

This fanfiction is born from my dissatisfaction with the way Kai was criminally underutilized in the TVDU. Honestly, I found him annoying at first, but he grew on me as season 6 went on. Thru Chris Wood's charming performance, Kai stole the show for me. I'll never forgive the showrunners for a lot of things, including underutilizing Chris Wood in this role & not allowing this broken king to have a real redemption arc.

On the topic of the showrunners, I'll never forgive them for how they did Bonnie Bennett or the Bennetts in general with how they were limited to magical plot devices for everyone else's use without any appreciative focus on their power & how it could really benefit them. Even though I love Bonnie & Kai, my otp endgame for her has always been Bonenzo, but I also adore Klonnie ❤️.

My AU changed and added plenty of lore around his coven & certain events. The plot follows the life of Bonnie's younger sister, Rosalina "Rose" Bennett-Ruiz. I go on to describe her below, but I'd like to state that she acts as Kai's antithesis as an innocent, fledgling witch. She's also Bonnie's support system. I always hated how the show often ignored that Bonnie lacked family around her that were unconditionally there for her. Bonnie's mom left when she was small, she lost her grams in season 1, and her father was a non-factor in her life until he returned... just to get killed off in front of her.

I wrote Rose & Bonnie's dynamic keeping in mind everything I hate about older sibling/younger sibling dynamics, like the one between Buffy and Dawn in BTVS. Bonnie deserves family that consistently supports her, encourages her to prioritize her well-being, and actually tries to lessen the existing load on her shoulders.

Another thing I kept in mind when adding Rose to my TVD AU is not to have her replace or take away Bonnie’s space in the plot. Now, I do give her Bonnie's plotline of being sent to the prison world in season 6, but this is essential to the story, and the way Bonnie was treated that season made me so sad that I have no problem taking traumatic experiences from her (of which she has more than enough) and giving them to Rose.

She struggles with her confidence & focus when chanting and spells drain her much quicker even when she tries channeling the energy around her. Despite this, Rose is determined to improve, valuing her one-on-one time with Bonnie and spending late nights on her own practicing & memorizing spells. She is determined to use her magic for good, prove herself and lessen the load on Bonnie as the resident Bennett witch of the group.

Her role in the Mystic Falls gang is the “Bennett witch in training” or “the bringer of baked goods” (according to Damon), since she often supplies their gatherings with fresh pastries. Everyone underestimates her power, even Bonnie. She tries to keep Rose out of danger unless she can’t help it.

Background:

The Parker family is the head of the Gemini coven. Its patriarch, Joshua Parker is the coven leader. Kai is the eldest child, being half an hour older than his fraternal twin, Josette. Unlike Jo, Kai was born without the ability to generate his own magic, instead siphoning magic from lingering spells, objects, or other witches. When he was young, he would naturally gravitate toward the magic of his sister, so Joshua quickly decided to physically isolate Kai from everyone for fear of his son's "defect" hurting others.

As fraternal twins born of the coven leader, Jo and Kai would be set to merge on their 22nd birthday, where the winner takes the other's magic and coven leadership and the loser dies and is absorbed into the other but with the risk of Kai's siphoning ability giving him an edge in the merge, Joshua and Viviane continued having kids until she birthed another set of twins that would merge instead.

Kai's upbringing was lonely, spending most of his time locked in his bedroom up in the attic. Following his father's lead, most of his family excluded and demonized him. As he grew, Kai learned to internalize the cruel labels they gave him. If they wanted a monster, they would get a monster and on his 22nd birthday, May 9th, 1994, he would finally act on his boiling rage and resentment toward his family, unleashing the hatred he accumulated through a lifetime of torment onto his siblings when Jo refused the merge. To protect the twins, she would relent to merge with him but the coven was waiting and with the help of Sheila Bennett they banished him to a prison world of complete isolation.

Each year that passed only added to his hunger for revenge, left with nothing to do but plan his escape and seizer of coven leadership. He grew to take pride in what he had done to his siblings and his status as a sociopath capable of killing anyone who gets in his way without remorse.

The prison world resets with the eclipse every 3 months.

Time works differently, so no one ages throughout their time there.

The prison world cannot create life so the only living inhabitants are those sent there or arrive via ascendant.

Kai is linked to the prison world so he can’t die. If something kills him, he’ll be out for a while depending on the damage but the magic will heal him back to life. Without Kai, the prison world falls apart so while he’s there, it sustains his life to sustain itself. Once he leaves, it ceases to exist.

The Ascendant - an ancient device created by the Gemini coven and a Bennett ancestor that only responds to a living Bennett’s blood and magic. The ascendant is sensitive to magic in general, so even when the spell is done right, it will activate then fall apart. You only have one chance at the time of the eclipse to correctly do the spell, which Kai knows from experience because early on he tried collecting a vial of Bennett blood that he hunted down in a hospital and using Josette's magic he siphoned from a hidden dagger. Disappointment boiled over into rage when he did the spell beneath the eclipse, the ascendant disassembled, but he was not transported out.

The Gemini Coven Lair:

Exists as a non-physical location where the coven keeps ancient texts, grimoires, enchanted items (talismans, gems, ascendants, etc.), and materials for spells & potions

Infinite space that can be utilized by the coven leader: often includes a space for magic instruction, a library, spell casting, a gathering area for the coven, etc.

Accessed only by portal, which is summoned by a spell entrusted to high-ranking Gemini members

Idk if any of you guys knew it, cuz i didn't til recently, that in that one cutscene in BOTW, where we first "met" Revali, he used his Gale to impress link and did it despite knowing there was a great possibility of failure since it was brand new. first the take was that its the fight that claudia doesn't see thats the "lie", now its the fall that she does see thats the "lie", both circle back to the fact that the only consistent meta ive seen from some lestat fans are "the fight didnt happen"

"his spine was broken before he fell" and where did that information come from? he is literally walking and can hold himself up by his feet before the fall, lestat is just dragging him by his neck

"his arms healed too quickly" was it ever defined how long it would take for his bones to heal? say it takes 20 minutes to boil a pot of water, if the show speeds it up to 5 minutes is that a "lie", or an element of visual storytelling?

"armand flies so its an implanted memory to turn louis against lestat" claudia's diaries are the source of this information here, unless he was there the whole time and manipulated her too, its safe to say that she did see them fly into the clouds and louis dropping back down while lestat floats above them.

The writers of the scene describe wanting to showcase the secrets lestat has been keeping from louis and claudia in a spectacular way. The fight and the fall are the spectacular ways. His extensive vampire powers that did not pass down to his fledglings is one secret that he has kept from both of them, a lie by omission. That lie is coupled with the domestic violence means he could be hiding much more and they'll never know unless they try to leave again. The fight, lestat continuing with the lies, and not letting claudia leave are the catalysts for his death at the end of the series.

The scene is there for a reason, the fall is there for a reason, lets stop playing the game of trying to theorize your way out of a purposeful abuse storyline

101. I do and it was scribbled onto six a4 lined notepads bought from Poundland (as well as the cardboard backs because I didn't believe in wasting paper if I could get it). Ironically, the male hero in that was like the fledgling version of YSMMC Aegon, or at least what he would have been if I'd written him when I was 12. There were children dying, miscarriages, shootouts, dramatic ass families...idek. It was horrifically bad. But I do remember running downstairs when I'd finished it to tell my parents "I've finished a novel!" and they both just laughed >.>

To date, it's the only novel I've ever finished which sounds bad, but the more I've improved with my writing, the less confident I am. I wish I had the 12 year old's confidence today because she was churning out some real dogshit.

p.s. I also wrote a Harry Potter ripoff but instead of Hogwarts letters, it was an emerald winged panther snatching kids up from wherever they were in the world and dropping them off at the school. I grew up and realised that plot was more like a metaphor for child trafficking than magical school fun uuuhhhhh.

The more crumbs we get from spoilers and previews, the more I think back to your original theory that JK is Marius, and that it is Marius who tampered with Daniel’s memories.

I actually do think it was Armand who tinkered with Louis’ memories though. Obviously he cut the pages from the diary…but…what if… Armand is under Marius’ thumb somehow? As in, Armand made Daniel choose between a human life or a life with him, and Daniel chose a human life, so Marius intervened to wipe Daniel’s memories to ensure knowledge of vampires doesn’t get out among the human population. Armand is bitter that Daniel chose a human life (which explains the ‘thde), but also has his own motivations for getting involved in the interview: to see if he can bring back the memories Marius tampered with and give things one more shot before Daniel’s illness kills him.

And perhaps….Marius is posing as a certain shapeshifting individual to keep tabs on Daniel so the memory wipe stays in tact, and to stay connected to the goings on of the interview more generally. I imagine he doesn’t want Armand and Louis blabbing about too much time Daniel…

Marius posing as Raglan has its advantages. For one, it could ostensibly keep Armand and Louis from reading Daniel’s thoughts and learning that Marius is close by monitoring the situation.It’s also possible the name Raglan James doesn’t mean anything to Louis and Armand at this point, so the anonymity gives Marius some protection.

Thoughts?

Well, book canonically Marius intervenes wrt Armand's loves/fledglings... be it Daniel (for a while), or Sybille or Benji - so I think that is important to keep in mind.

I do think that Armand "tinkered" with Louis' memories, yes, maybe even on invitation ("we made an agreement").

However, I do think that if Marius is involved... then Marius is the one who wiped Daniel's memories, because he got fed up with Armand "playing around". (You know, like Sybille and Benji later)

I do think there is a high possibility that Marius could take on other personas, they all do after all, and we know the show likes to obfuscate our perception on characters.

IF it is Marius disguised as Raglan then that means that a) he has indeed (some kind of) access to the Talamasca or at least knows of some things and b) he does want to check the current status, without interfering too much. Also the mind-reading that you mentioned might be part of that reasoning.

He does check on things from afar in the books as well, be it Armand with the Children of Satan, or just coming by to show his disapproval after Lestat's body switch.

So... all that is totally within the behavior patterns of the books, imho.

But I disagree that he doesn't want Daniel to regain his memories... because the medicine Daniel gets was prepared by Fareed and the "prime minister" Fareed is personal physician to is Marius in the later books. I think the attempt to bring back Daniel's memories is one that a lot of people know about - and IF Marius is disguised as Raglan James then he just wants to check the status, without triggering too many other memories I bet.

By which I mean that when I was determining how the timeline went, I decided it was 'beckett rescues okulos' -> 'gets kapaneus as a traveling companion' -> 'goes to LA for bloodlines with kapaneus' -> 'caine does his fun Don't Worry About It Aura to beckett at the prospect of an ancient driving a car' -> 'lets beckett get enrichment playing with the sarcophagus until caine gives him the good old Extreme Dread Aura about it so beckett won't open it himself' -> 'beckett warns the fledgling and then goes back to the hotel room he's sharing with kapaneus' -> 'they have more fun adventures during the rest of their year of traveling together'

i tend to ignore the 'canonical' mechanics of blood bonds, mostly because these are vampires and i tend to think that any set of lovers would get way more than three drinks of each other's blood within the timeframe for that, but also i just had the mental image of beckett getting a hit of kapaneus' blood, suddenly feeling a deep fondness for the concept of caine, and being like (⌐■_■) ( •_•)>⌐■-■ (⊙ˍ⊙) 'hey why do i suddenly feel really fond of this guy i don't even believe exists?'

(also because with my headcanons for beckett's various romances, he'd be blood-bonded to So Many other people just based on estimated amounts of Kisses Accepted and Administered. there's a theoretical beckett-centric viniculum where everyone he's bonded with is automatically at a 2 with each other, despite having no bonds of their own, just off the bond-concentration contact high)

caine spending a year watching beckett put himself in Situations and coming to the conclusion that this little guy really Deserves to be capable of even more nonsense and should have even More money to put where his mouth is and then permanently empowering him accordingly -> sascha and beckett [handshake. jpg] unwittingly much stronger than their alleged generation can account for

(although of course now that i've thought about it, an au of beckett ending up blood-bound to caine is an extreme mood. the direction is either very dark or very crack, though: on the one hand beckett probably has about a century worth of questions alone, on the other he unwittingly sipped so much of Caine's Own Blood he's discovering new novelty damnations all the time)
