draw what your ocs' + the order's eyebrows and/or hands look like :)
so a bit of a warning- i went fucking insane with this
Tumblr media
[actual size chart!]
Tumblr media
first up- nari! very tiny hands 👌thisss big
golden wood nails (retractable! thank u crow i totally stole this from minor arcana) very soft fingers, without much definition on any of the knuckles or joints, kinda like a small child’s hand but with more calluses
Tumblr media
this bitch is spindly, fite me
most of his fingers are crooked, and long compared to his palm, and he’s got really defined tendons and knuckles- his nails are thicc, and a touch too long because cutting them is a whole thing (they’re so cracked😩)
and ofc the whole blackened frostbitten and rotting thing
Tumblr media
the birddd
their hands are really square and strong and their fingers are thick, really calloused from training and forging- also what some of their scars are from (that and fights), speaking of that, their knuckles are often bruised
their nails are longer then’s practical but they’re more like talons tbh
Tumblr media
bitterroot!
her hands are hella pale from always being in gloves, and her fingers are v long and crooked, esp her pointer- her scars are from being a dumbass with chemicals and smashing people across the face w glass beakers <3
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
forgive the reused art and the lumpy ass sketches😭
this wasn’t super visible in their main sketches but all their hands get paler at the palm-
bellroc, for obvious reasons, but skrael and nari have it visible too (except skrael’s fingertips where it’s all blackened and rotting)
oh and here’s the progress video

✨Round 4: Match 8✨
Tumblr media
(Maglor art by @elena-kukanova)
Maglor Propaganda:
He canonically has incredible and magical singing, he's very broody, he searches for sparkly gems, and he lowkey becomes an adopted dad
doomed singer and harper, loves gems, had a silmaril (ultimate shiny gem) but it hated him because he killed people for it, wrote the Noldolantë (lamenting song about the fall of his people) and now wanders the shores singing in pain and regret. the sun sparkles off his tears :)
My guys named after his voice. Committed murder, wrote mega hit about said murder, proceeded to commit Many more murders and added that to said song. Is said to be wandering the shores singing of his sorrows for eternity.
He is a bard because canon, and he is sparkly because he is drenched in seawater and it’s sunny out
he was known as the greatest bard of the Ñoldor, he killed a bunch of people and then wrote an absolute banger of a song about how sad it made him (he killed more people later though) he would be more sparkly if he had kept the Silmaril but it burned him (because he killed so many people) so he threw it into the sea and then wandered the beach forever singing about how sad he was and how he regretted murdering so many people over shiny rocks
Commits war crimes but feels bad after so he writes a sad song about it
He’s the mightiest singer of the Noldor (his group of elves)!!
He is remembered as one of the greatest musicians to ever live in Middle Earth and most of his story centers around sparkly rocks
Hisirdoux "Douxie" Casperan Propaganda:
AAAAAHHH HOW COULD I FORGET DOUXIE?!?! I guess I'm so used to thinking of him as a wizard, but he can dual class. He absolutely shreds on his magic guitar and it's epic
PLEASE VOTE DOUXIE HES A MASTER WIZARD A N D BARD
He's hundreds of years old but looks 19, was Merlin's apprentice back in the day, in modern times works as a waiter in a cafe and also in a book store. He plays in a normal non-magical band! His best friend is a talking cat who wears glasses who is actually a dragon! He absolutely *shreds* on guitar but he's not bad on a lute either!

Ehy guys I just dropped the first chapter on AO3 (below is the link, but if you want you can also read it here on Tumblr)
Hope you guys enjoy it!
Tumblr media
Prologue
Lullaby
In the beginning, there were trolls, magical beings born from the hearts of special stones and become alive by forces unknown to us, and humans, devoid of any kind of magic.
In time, these supernatural forces that we think of as magical, crept into the hearts of humans and thus wizards were born... But wizards were not well liked by either humans or trolls and only a few of them were accepted in King Arthur's court, two of whom were Merlin and Morgana.
Merlin was very powerful and worked for King Arthur following his every order, but Morgana... No, she was a real rebel. She found trolls to be wonderful creatures, unlike her king, and believed that they had just as much right to live on earth as human beings. Perhaps that is why she sided with Gunmar, a powerful troll born from the heart of a rotten Heartstone from within, certainly not the kindest of trolls or the most tolerant of the sorceress's human nature, which he by habit calls "fleshbag," but still smart enough to recognize great potential in her.
The two had a plan: to create eternal night, so that trolls, vulnerable to sunlight, could live on the surface without fear of being brushed by the sun's rays, but to do this, Morgana needed to create spies who would bring information to both her and Gunmar and who could mix among humans without being conspicuous. And that is what happened: Gunmar ordered the Gumm-Gumms to raid every troll village, capturing the cubs and killing those who opposed his rule. Many baby trolls were captured during those bloody slaughters and many more died as a result of that unrelenting violence. The baby trolls were thrown into cages and kept segregated in the deepest darkness of the caves, away from the light and their families.
The cage cave was large, very large, and cold. The humidity could freeze the stone skin of the little prisoners and scratch their wills better than whatever torture their torturers had in servitude for them. Not seeing the starry sky, being far from their families, and the knowledge that they would never again be able to taste the flavor of freedom often made them beg to be killed there and then, so as not to further prolong the torture that, without the sensor of passing days, seemed endless.
The Gumm-Gumm often enjoyed torturing, beating and abusing them, but no hero in shining armor would come to their rescue....
The "loveless," as they were called by their tormentors, would all die of starvation, hunger and fear after endless and unspeakable tortures, and only death, their friend and salvation, would come to grant them sweet eternal rest.
This went on for years. Every now and then a cub would be taken out of its cage never to return, and it only withered those little hearts that had now lost all hope as far as an escape or a possible return to their villages was concerned.
That was the case for everyone, including the Izit cub, a race of trolls accustomed to living in the thickest forests under the starry sky. A tenacious specie, but too weak to be able to escape the clutches of Gunmar and his army.
The little guy had lost so much weight that his arms were as thin as bone, and the bright spots on his skin that once characterized his coat had faded over time, blending with the dark blue that covered most of his body. His horns, still just small stone lumps on his head, trembled from the frost along with his tusks on that dark, cold night.
He was hungry, but there was no food for him. There was hardly any.
Looking around he could make out fellow prisoners in the cages hanging from the ceiling and those on the ground like his own. All were huddled together, some asleep, some crying, and still others seemed not even to be breathing, perhaps dead for days.
One of the few moments of respite for the Loveless.
The Izit cub tried to warm his paws by blowing warm air on them, but his breath was reduced to a gasp. So, trembling, he clutched his knees to his chest and hid his face against the cold stone skin.
He remained like this for a long time, until a song rang through the air.
The notes were sweet, the voice singing to her melodious.
Little Izit strained his long ears and listened intently; it was not the first time he had heard that voice, yet, each time it caused him a strange sense of curiosity and surprise.
With the witch's song also came light. A faint light of course, but still a light.
Many trolls raised their heads in search of that spark in the dark, others fled into the darkness, aware of what was about to happen: there was only one reason why the light chose to come and visit the captives, and it was nothing good.
Only one among the hundred or so awake cubs remained still: the Izit.
The woman, continuing to chant, moved forward looking ahead. She did not seem particularly interested in the contents of the cages or in assessing how Gunmar's prisoners were doing, rather she seemed serene. She kept murmuring the notes of a song in a language the little trolls had a hard time chewing: human.
The witch advanced until she passed the cage of little Izit, who meanwhile dared not look up or move even a muscle. He would have liked to see the light, but to what end? It would only remind him how much he missed the freedom and the starry sky that he had so loved to look at when things were not yet so hopeless.
The footsteps suddenly ceased and with them the divine singing.
There was a clang of metal and the cage door opened.
Not even at that moment did little Izit look up. It was only when a hand was extended toward him and the smell of living flesh permeated his nostrils that he let his four bright eyes wander until they met Morgana's green ones.
She was beautiful. The red hair, the thin lips, the gentle smile... she was so bright.
"Hey little one..." She whispered, cautiously. She tried to caress his face, but Izit's pet retracted his head slightly, startled by Jade's hand.
"I will not hurt you..." The woman continued in a melodious voice.
How could a voice sound so sweet?
"How long have you been here?"
The puppy did not answer, but his eyes spoke for him: He did not remember; he had forgotten what it was like to be brought to that place and thrown into a cage, he had forgotten what his name was and what his parents looked like.
His mind was a blank slate, perfect for what the witch was looking for.
Morgana's gaze softened incredibly, giving way on her face to an even warmer smile.
"Come here..."
The woman's arms picked up the troll's slender little body and lifted him effortlessly. He offered no resistance; after all, if his fate was really to disappear as the other "Loveless" before him had done, he might as well go along with it. Even if he had wanted to, he would not have had the strength to fight anyway.
As the witch stepped away from the cages, walking between two massive trolls with a creepy iron mask on their faces, she stroked Izit's head, running a hand through the blue hair and feeling the still-developing horns.
"Now that you have me, you will no longer be alone." She whispered into his animalistic ears. The troll cub snuggled up to her and let her song lull him as his eyelids grew heavier. Although he was afraid, Morgana's presence helped calm him and for a moment he wondered if indeed that witch would be able to make him feel loved again.
And so it was: Morgana gave that puppy all the love that only a mother can give.
She fed him, gave him a name, a warm bed, educated and trained him...
And then... She slaughtered him.
She broke his bones, changed his nature and made him unrecognizable in the eyes of the other Izit.
She transformed him into something that nature would never have combined: an impure troll, capable of walking among men in the sunlight.
She transformed him.
She turned him into a changeling.

Are there any major changes to canon you think you'll make in the sunshine au, other than the obvious? I've seen you talk about things you didn't like about wizards, and was curious if that meant you were gonna tweak it for the sake of the au
Oh I am definitely going to be doing a lot of tweaking to canon for the sunshine au.
As people have probably guessed already, Mary and Darci will be included in team Trollhunters from day one, and Barbara will be in the know from the start as well. Another major thing is that Douxie will join the main cast during the equivalent of TH season 3 and will be heavily involved in the battle of the eternal night. How the TH crew gets introduced to the Tarron siblings will also happen a little bit differently (Steve finds himself sworn to secrecy by two different groups and is very conflicted before he convinces them to talk to each other).
Then we get to the things I'm changing for salt related reasons...
First off the slaughter of the Janus order won't be just a thing that happens and is immediately forgotten about. The same with changelings in general; the beginnings of gradual acceptance of changelings into mainstream troll society is going to become a big plot point.
For the most part 3Below season 1 will be untouched, but for season 2 I'm planning on unkinking a lot of the major inconsistencies that were introduced (Krel needed to scavenge technology for weeks to build a Daxial array but can MacGyver together a wormhole generator with spare parts? No way. Kubritz's motivations changing on a whim based on what the plot demands? Fuck that.)
Speaking of inconsistencies, while the basic plot for Wizards will stay the same, the gang going back in time to Camelot and to make sure the battle of Kilahead goes as planned, I'm going to tweak events to actually keep a consistent continuity between the events of TH and Wizards. For starters, Merlin gave the amulet to the trolls several thousand years earlier, meaning Deya wasn't the first, and their trip back in time will be foreshadowed and built up for a long time leading up to it. Also Jim's transformation won't be undone, he'll remain a shifting halftroll permanently.
And for RotT I'm going to do what I'm doing to Wizards time a thousand. The Arcane order will actually be built up and foreshadowed as antagonists, that god-awful Steve mp//reg plot will not happen, all the characters and their individual arcs will line up with their journey to this point (no BS "Am I still the Trollhunter without the amulet") and when I say characters I mean characters, plural. Jim is a hero but he's not the hero, they're a team and each character will be given equivalent attention.
And most importantly there will be no time travel retcon ending. One of the major themes running through this series is that the world is rarely broken down into black and white options, we just have to choose the choices who's consequences we're able to live with. And I'm f*****g sticking to that. The group's victory will be hard won and bittersweet, not without sacrifice, but in the end they'll create a better world for both the mundane and the magical.
Sorry if I sound so salty I love Tales of Arcadia but it has some deep flaws especially with that dumpster fire movie.

Someone sent c22 already so I'll give you a couple for the other two
Girlverse Clevbar for the ships :}
And for the character- Couture 17 tamiz (do ocs count? They should 😋)
Omg hiiii aud!!!!! Thanks for the ask !! :D
002 | Send me a ship and I will tell you:
When I started shipping them: The 25th of May 2022 at approximately 7:16 in the morning
My thoughts: I like the regular universe in absolutes... however I do feel like there's more you can add to the characters in the girlverse. Example: Clevinger is the kind of guy to be big into social justice in the way that doesn't really help anyone, but it makes more sense to do it being part of at least one marginalized community--something that's not gained with regular book Clevinger. It's almost more introspective than the fast-paced c22 humour even though it's still in the same vein.
What makes me happy about them: Something something the inherent homoeroticism of being the only person who can stand the other person for long periods of time. In all seriousness, I appreciate the consistent banter and the enjoyment of having the other person around. Dunbar gets longer days. Clevinger gets entertaining arguments. There's something for each of them.
What makes me sad about them: In canon, it's a short-lived relationship. They die, or at least one of them dies, or there's something that cuts off the relationship before either of them is ready. Actually, it feeds more into their individual themes as characters; Dunbar is resigned to her own death but doesn't seem to take into account the effects of other's deaths on her.
Things done in fanfic that annoys me: Lol I do think only 3 people (including myself) have written fanfic about regular clevinger/dunbar let alone the girlverse version (just me). I don't think they communicate particularly well, which I write in even though it annoys me (I write it anyway because it's accurate. Whatever. I'll just have to suffer). Or when I make a philosophy allusion, post the fanfic, read 2 books about that philosophy, and find inconsistencies in my wording/phrasing. That, too.
Things I look for in fanfic: I look for fanfic!! It would be incredibly cool to me if someone else ever wrote this niche and hyperspecific thing and I'd be insane about it.
My wishlist: Hmmm this is tough. I think Heller should've written them interacting at least one other time before they were written out. Otherwise just for more fanfic to exist that I didn't write, that'd be cool too :]
Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: I've never given this much thought, actually. I think they're both nightmares in their own respect, but given that Yossarian is friends with both of them, he might be able to tolerate that.
My happily ever after for them: Either they go to Hell together in the ClosingTimeverse and spend eternity like that OR neither of them is actually dead but someone has amnesia/something else that makes rekindling after several years difficult. Clevinger gets tenured and no less insufferable. Dunbar picks up a boring hobby and works a boring job and gets some passion for something in her life. They adopt a kid. It's not happy exactly, but it's where they ought to be.
003 | Give me a character & I will tell you:
[for those wondering, this one of my characters from my original novel, 17 Tamiz (An all-too familiar tale of arcadia descending) that you can read here.]
How I feel about this character: She's entertaining to me to write. She's an interesting case because she's the only non-chapter character who's still a main character, and her story is only told in letters she's written as an epilogue. She's interesting to me too, mainly because she never means what she says and never says anything she means, even though she always has other's best interests at heart.
Any/all the people I ship romantically with this character: Eloise Rosales
My favorite non-romantic relationship for this character: Tex Knapp. Eldringhoff is a close second.
My unpopular opinion about this character: She's more of a rule-follower than her romantic interest and narrative foil, Rosales.
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: One thing I wish would happen but I will not write is for her to have a happy ending. I wish she would dial it back before disappearing forcibly--however, doing so would take away the tragedy that she inherently represents. To get caught in a whirlwind and destroy yourself--why, I'd say that's human. :(
Favorite friendship for this character: Probably Tex Knapp too. They are best friends.
My crossover ship: Haha I have no idea!!

To all those who aren’t morning people or just need a pick me up on a bad day, Nari has a message for you…

work in progress guessing game: touch, look, turn?
For touch,
The smooth mahogany against their palms brought them to the moment, it's quiet pulsing power keeping them grounded in the moment. It was close to physical pain to let it go, sealing it into its home in the petrified stump. Nari wished they could bring it with them, but if it came to it, Skrael and Bellroc could sense the magic signature it left behind, as Nari could sense theirs. It was too risky to bring it with them, but they prematurely mourned its presence. They could do magics and apparate if they wished, a staff was merely a focus- not the source of their power, but it would take more concentration, and energy they were unused to expending. Touching the mossy crystals once more, Nari left the clearing, somehow more certain of what they needed to do.
For look,
Skrael looks close to mad like that, Nari thinks, eyes glowing so bright as to almost be white, nose pulled into a snarl. They wipe a dribble of dark silt from the corner of their mouth with their wrist, their tiny form dwarfed by the icy jaws they float between. Nari can scarcely recognize them.
And for turn,
Their face turned wistful, turning away from him.
“Wait- don’t tell me you, of all people have kids,”
Douxie laughed, but when they arched a brow at him, he faltered, “Seriously?”
“Had.”, they corrected with a listless shrug.
“Oh. I didn’t… Sorry.” Douxie grimaced, “What happened?”
“Foolishness, the cruelties of you mortals- and time. Time, above all else.”
If they tried, they could see the flash of orange eyes, set in a young, freckled face, laughing in the corners of their vision.
What they would’ve done to lose him to time.
Damn, I’m really bringing the angst here lol😅

Tales of Arcadia fanfic recommendations part 7
It’s time for yet another round of recommendations! In this batch is the 80+ Rise of the Titans fics I read as part of the fanfic analysis which have their own section with Tales of Arcadia (Aka the TV part of the franchise) merged into one for ease sake. I’m currently on a bit of an older content binge on behest of someone which is giving me a break from RotT burnout, a few of which are on this list and the rest is already spilling into part 8 sitting in my drafts.
Hope you see something of interest!
Part 1 - Part 2 - Part 3 - Part 4 - Part 5 - Part 6
If at all interested in my own writing you can find it here!
Tales of Arcadia
A Thousand Years - A series of oneshots following the lives of Douxie and Zoe through the ages including some good old Zouxie fluff.
A Night Off; Comfort Zoe Night - Exactly as it says this is a bout of shameless Zouxie fluff because sometimes you have a bad day and there’s somebody who can treat you to a much nicer evening.
of poison, forest floors, and terrified wizards - It was just a simple errand for Merlin, one he’d done hundreds of times before so there was no reason to wake Archie from his nap and thus Hisirdoux Casperan went off alone. Even in his worst nightmares he couldn’t have expected being struck with poison designed to take out magic users.
Primordial Awakenings - We build our creations from the dead, give them names, offer them power then put them amongst the stars until we forget there was ever a before because the stories have already made them eternal. A delightful take on how the Order as we know might have come to be because sometimes you wonder what if they were birthed in the prehistoric?
Primordial Awakenings — Deleted Scenes - In case you need more content from the above :) This does contain Order ships of various directions.
Already Seen - Easy peasy, lemon squeezy Douxie is caught in the D'aja Vu as well and tries to figure out what the heck is causing it. Contains a little bit of Zouxie fluff.
Mama Bear - It is after Jim’s battle with Draal when Barbara catches sight of numerous bruises covering her son and along with all the other out of character incidents totting up of late naturally she thinks the worst.
Across the Stars - With Zadra now on earth and far away from home, she and Izita snatch the moments they can to to talk to one another. Zadita? Izadra? Genuinely no idea what the shorthand for the ship is.
Reading Wingman - Even the most experienced trolls can get caught out sometimes and in this case AAARRRGGHH shelters in the library. Adorable ensues.
Happy Birthday - Post Trollhunters season 3, everyone deserves a special treat on the anniversary of one of the worst days of your life and that includes Trollhunters.
heavy - Jim might have escaped the Darklands in body but the trauma continues to pursue through not only nightmares but all the way into the waking world too.
from now on - Post Trollhunters season 3, it was hard for Toby he and AAARRGGHH had been left behind but they try to struggle on anyway all the while counting down the days until their friends to come home.
Rise of the Titans
Unbecoming 2 Electric Boogaloo - There are always prices to pay and consequences for wanting to do the right thing if you choose to embrace selfishness instead of logic. You went too far back Jim Lake Jr., you were warned and the cold rush of reality is watching just out of sight to show you why.
Unlikely Places - They managed to stop the Titans with no losses despite it being very close leaving the Order in the very odd position of wrapping their heads around the After. For one former resident of Durio he’s about to find out just how they’re handling things first hand.
Tales of Arcadia: In Search of Home- After using diplomacy with a chance to right the wrongs of the world to bring Skrael on board he and Nari in turn offer the same to Bellroc . This leaves one Hisirdoux Casperan with two additional roommates, trying to make everyone comfortable as they experience new and fancy human things like pasta, earning your keep and the wonders of freezers.
A Better World - After jumping back in time Jim uses his prior knowledge to help nudge things in this timeline for the better with advice and jokes but always keeps the most precious (And painful) close to his chest. Sitting on the roof together one night Toby muses about this strange yet incredible life he’s led so far and what his best friend might have been through in his old one.
Time is a Fickle Thing... - When Jim used the time stone to go back he expected to wake up in his bed on the very same day he’d become the Trollhunter. Instead he awoke in the middle of the nearby woods little more than an observer of his 15 year old self armed with knowledge of the future and the determination to nudge the timeline for the better. This is of course assuming the second hand embarrassment doesn’t kill him first.
Minds are Troubled By The Emptiness - An epilogue for Nancy “Nana” Domzalski in a timeline that was not reset.
Tales of Arcadia: The Final Becoming - A complete rewrite of Rise of the Titans lets fucking go.
Lifting Atlas - It would be unwise to go back in time without a plan so one is cobbled together involving contacting Douxie as soon as possible, bring him on board and try to right the mistakes of the past to save everyone they lost. The trouble is you can’t run from the trauma that led to your best friend dying before your eyes, not even with time travel.
Content warning for the first chapter: There is mention of previous sexual assault and suicide that does not have an in fic warning nor is it tagged. It is mentioned during Jim’s conversation with Douxie and a second time in a vague way after the time jump when they meet up.
Stricklake
Without you there is no world - A oneshot series for Stricklake month following a range of themes from excellent sci-fi worldbuilding, dabbling in one of the author’s AUs, the perils of gravesand and closing with a rather well deserved dig at THAT scene from RotT.
stricklake month...2!!! - Do you want Stricklake that borders on domestic in a range of circumstances including big brother Jim? WELL.
Darling Play Your Violin - There is a saying that history repeats it’s self and it is certainly true for those who live long enough to feel it’s echoes. Sometimes you are given a second chance which turns bittersweet while another will be met with mirth but at least at the end of it all you can say you tried.
To family - Seeking to propose to Barbara, Strickler decides to ask someone dear to them both for permission due to their incredibly complicated background. A trio of toddlers act as witnesses oblivious to their big brother’s sass and plotting.
Parent conference day - Set post RotT, some memories are lingering in the form of dreams that once were, it just takes a chance encounter to start bringing sense to them.
Stricklake Baggage Babeyyyyyy - Walter Strickler is not an innocent changeling which is something Barbara is well aware of. The problem is sooner or later the question has to be asked no matter how scared you are of the reply: Did you kill Principal Levit?
Alternate Universe
"I'll Still be Here." - Once more falling into the “This isn’t technically AU but it doesn’t feel right to put it elsewhere somehow??” issue. Well before two boys will find an Amulet in the canals this is a reminder of how loved ones can be the best thing when anxiety brain gets ideas. Autistic Toby with a side order of Joby/Hammerhunter.
Daddy Issues - So Bular accidentally ended up adopting teeny Jim and it’s adorable.
The End Is the Beginning Is the End - After what should have been a fatal car accident Barbara is offered a choice: Perish or live by trading whatever her saviour decides. She might have thought it was the delusions of a dying mind but the consequences do not agree.
A Brief Reliving of Troll Lore - Camelot has gained unexpected time travelers darkening their doors except this is set in the 7th century and the journey home is going to be a whole lot rougher with survival just as important as preventing history being screwed up. This is a Jim centric fic.

My problem with Rise of the titans.
My problem with Rise of the titans.
Okay, to this day, I guess that everyone had seen the movie. So, let’s talk about it.
first that everything: The title.
TROLLHUNTERS: RISE OF THE TITANS.
First word: TROLLHUNTERS.
I mean, I love the show, I have nothing against it, it's great, a nuclear form to start the franchise, and introduces us to a universe. The story, the plot, etc. What’s the problem?
We have seen Jim’s hero journey before. “The amulet did not make me a hero, I already was”, a great quote, but we already had listened to it during the show.
So, the movie did not give us nothing new, it’s literally the same plot of the show. “What does be a Trollhunter mean?”
With that pointed out…
WHAT THE FUCK A TROLLHUNTER IS GOING TO DO WITH THE ARCANE ORDER.
ROTT – TRAIN BATTLE.
Bellroc: “Trollhunter…”
Jim: “Nope. Now I hunt Wizards”.
First of all… the arcane order members are not “wizards”, they are demigods, which is completely different. It’s like comparing a Gnome to a Goblin. Not to mention that the only wizard present during that fight was Douxie, so-
Go Jim, hunt Douxie!
Just- No.
Literally, Jim has not a reason to fight them.
“Oh, but earth it’s my home and-“
Bulshit. The proper Merlin says it: “I create the Trollhunter to defeat Gunmar and destroy Gum-gums”. I mean, I have myopia but even with my bad vision I did not find a single Gum-Gum in the movie, so tell me if I am wrong, but the Trollhunter does not deserve to head this battle, instead, he had everything to be treated as the warhorse, or secret armor, not as the leather.
It would have been great to see a different dynamic.
In wizards we had the opportunity to see Douxie lead the team, talk to everyone and encourage them when there was no hope. Jim was not present during all the best of Douxie’s leather moments, because he was a Troll, but it would have been amazing to see him leaving the leadership to others, even when he is not used to it.
SECOND POINT.
The villain.
So, the arcane order is great antagonist. Their point of view, the grey moral, their designs and presence since wizard. Just amazing.
If they are so great: What’s my problem then?
The development.
PIRIOT.
A) To begin, their first apparency was on wizards, a MINI-SHOW with 10 episodes, where the arcane order are presented as the ones that are behind the main villains.
It's great to the how the power scales with each step our heroes take. It's more difficult to take the antagonist down because it’s not more WHITE AND BLACK characters, but a lot of grey zones. This forces the heroes to change their morality and question their ideologies.
But the short time we have to meet the order compared to other villains on TOA, makes them not feel powerful enough. It feels more like: They are bad, they are evil, they have a pretty good points to destroy the earth, but instead of giving them a chance to know them better, we are going to give them titans to kill and destroy the planet.
So, the problem is the titans and the mass destruction they occasioned, not the order as them. Or at least that’s what the title makes us think.
B) On TROLLHUNTERS, we have ANGOR ROT and GUNMAR as the main villains. We know that they fight Jim, and see their development through the series. Angor Rot wants to recuperate his should, he is following orders and after that, he is taking revenge over Jim. Gunmar wants to domain the world, but instead, he is confined to the Dark Lands, where we see him during Jim’s trip to that place.
On 3BELLOW we have MORANDO and area 49. The epic grows of Aja and Krel, their maturity, their decisions, the Varvatos' “treason”, and the change of role from Area 49, to become an allay at the end. A Great conclusion, that lets us open the opportunity to see the support of area 49 in future projects of TOA.
And on WIZARDS…
Who is the main villain?
Douxie does not fight an “antagonist” on the show. The whole adventure is “Go back to the present and help Merlin stop the order”.
We meet Arthur, and Morgana, peons of the order, that are going to become villains that MERLIN HAS TO FIGHT. Jim and Claire had their arc. But we do not see the MAIN ANTAGONIST to the PROTAGONIST OF THIS SHOW.
We meet the Arcane order, and we see Douxie fighting them.
He is a master wizard, he is the one that has the power to control the genesis seal, the Arcane Order’s goal. So, we can agree that they are the antagonist of Douxie?
That has sense.
On the show we see how they control Arthur and make him KILL MERLIN -The only parental figure and family Douxie had-.
They also are responsible to control Morgana (a friend and companion during his life on Camelot).
Not to mention that he became the guardian of Nari of the Eternal Forest, giving the order more reasons to hate him and destroy him.
In conclusion. THERE ARE A LOT OF REASONS TO BELIEVE THAT THE ORDER IS THE DIRECT ANTAGONIST OF HISIRDOUX CASPERAN.
So, the movie makes no sense having Jim leading the battle against the Order instead of Douxie!
So, if the writers wanted to make the order EVERYONE antagonists, it would be better to have a second season of wizards, focused on Hisirdoux and the defeat of a particular antagonist.
Continuing with the movie, a better title would be “TALES OF ARCADIA: RISE OF THE TITANS”, instead of “TROLLHUNTERS: RISE OF THE TITANS”. In that way, there would be more impact on the presence of other characters around the movie, instead of only focusing on Jim during the CLOSURE OF THE WHOLE FRANCHISE, FOR MERLIN’S SHAKE.
