something i haven’t seen ppl talking about is the “‘you’re telling me you’ve never had a drink with friends after a tough day?’ ‘we don’t have tough days in heaven’” and “i’ve never made a mistake in my fucking life” lines we get from adam cause i feel like they highlight so much about heavens injustice

if they are holding sinners in literal HELL to the same standards as they hold for themselves in heaven, who’s to say they don’t hold the desperate and needy, those who did wrong because they were threatened or in danger, to the same standards as the rich, powerful, well-off, and strong? a mother stealing in a desperate attempt to ward off starvation for her children has committed the same crime as a upper class white dick-head stealing a car for the fun of it.

(which also brings me to one of my biggest issues with real life christianity/catholismand the idea of original sin but that’s another post)

“the rules are black and white” and they meant that LITERALLY, they don’t care about circumstances, there is no elaboration, if you tick the box, you go to hell, no questions asked

and then adam saying he’s never made a mistake??? he lost his wife to the literal devil cause he was such a dick?? and he literally ALSO ATE THE APPLE????? THE VERY THIBG THAT DAMNED HUMANITY?? i don’t know exactly what direction the show will take in s2 but i am hoping we see more elaboration of the blatant bigotry and bias in heaven. the system that empowered men and demonized women from the beginning of humanity.

Have anyone thought about how Yasmine finds out about ot4?

It has been on my mind all morning and I think it would be because Cam and Ava? their dynamic is easy and comfortable that they (most probably Ava) would just forget about Yasmine being there. Like they could be visiting Cat’s Cradle, Cam, Bea and Yasmine in the kitchen having breakfast while Lilith and Ava go for a run and when they arrive Cam gives Ava a plate of food or coffee and she would give her a peck on the lips and a “thanks babe” and Yasmine would just stare at them trying to decide wtf just happened lol

camila keeps collecting kisses from her girls and at first it's just lilith and yasmine already knows she's dating lilith so it's not outrageous when lilith presses a kiss into cami's forehead. but then beatrice does it and yasmine is like 🤔🤔 but she can reasonably play it off as friendship like beatrice has done a lot of work unrepressing, maybe they're just close! and then ava fully kisses cam on the lips and yasmine is like "okay what the hell is going on?" 😭😭 poor yasmine. mother superion spits out her coffee when ava kisses cam. jillian, who already knew cause lilith was actually excited to tell her, just smiles.

hey thanks for the ask! good question!

when I first started actually posting original content on this blog and not just lurking around liking things, I was super into the show the chilling adventures of sabrina on netflix (specifically for the really hot older women tbh).

and basically at the end of the second season they overthrow the awful misogynistic character who’s been the head of their dark church and they also imprison lucifer. so then the demon lilith (my fav) sort of takes over. and there’s this little interaction between my other favorite characters where they talk about renaming their church—the Church of Night to the Church of Lilith.

and I was like hell yeah that’s a sick name for my blog (especially bc my name is lily as well) and I snatched it up.

fast forward a few years and the show got canceled and had the worst ending ever. like just god awful. but I still can’t bring myself to change my blog name because i like it & i think it sounds cool

Narrator: The early morning light penetrated the stained glass windows of the hall, stirring dust that carried the scent of morning dew.

Narrator: In the light, a breeze brushed my praying hands.

Narrator: I offered my most devout prayer to the moon god as I've done for countless mornings.

Narrator: I already memorized the long prayers and holy bells with the morning light in my mind.

Envoy: God will tell us what is the utmost purity and beauty.

All Envoys: God will tell us what is the utmost purity and beauty.

Narrator: Under my leadership, young believers repeated the prayers in the church.

Narrator: But I could sense from their cadence that they were distracted. I frowned.

Envoy: ...

Narrator: Before the divine statue, in the light and dust, I saw the new Queen standing before all envoys.

Narrator: It's Lilith, the most beautiful person in Ninir.

Narrator: The sun covered her figure in gold as she prayed, gorgeous as an angel. Even her voice was sweet as ambrosia.

Narrator: But such a lovely voice didn't belong here.

Narrator: God is a sacred being. Prayers are sacred. Excess beauty would only warrant unwanted attention and temptation...

Narrator: I looked around and noticed many a young envoy peeking, distracted by the Queen's looks.

Envoy: I shall offer God all my piety and love.

Narrator: Steadying myself, I uttered the final verse to conclude the session.

Narrator: I cleared my throat and heard my voice echo in the hall.

Narrator: I repeated as I shut my eyes again.

Narrator: Upon hearing my words, all envoys turned to look at me.

Narrator: I caught a glimpse of the Queen turning, as well.

Narrator: I also noticed the subtle nuances in her angelic smile.

Narrator: It was wicked, cold, mocking...

Narrator: That smile shouldn't belong to an angel. I shut my eyes and started praying silently.

Narrator: But when I opened my eyes again, the Queen was no longer there.

OH MY GOD I've never had somebody answer my prayers thank you kind stranger

so I actually have a scene where somebody is literally being chased but unfortunately that scene only exists in theory right now :(. Anyway! Have a scene from my RvB Halo!AU.

She falls to her knees, coughing in bursts as she tries to regain the wind knocked out of her. “I… win,” she manages between hacks, “I… beat… you.”

Texas looks up at her, hands on black armored knees, breathing heavily. “I’m trying to save your life,” Texas says, spitting out blood that gushes from a, most likely, broken nose.

“I don’t need your help,” she spits, glaring. “I beat you, you can’t help me.”

Texas, albeit gingerly, wipes blood away from a disfigured nose. “You wanted to win so bad you chased me halfway across the galaxy in the middle of a war, huh? It was that important to you?”

“Don’t tell me what I want!” She yells, her voice cracking. “You have no idea what I wanted, what I want! You were always better than me, I could never beat you at anything!”

“Carolina-” Texas starts.

“And then you had the nerve to treat it like some fucking game! You bested me at everything I ever did and never fucking took it seriously!” Her voice is rough from the fight, and it scratches the back of her throat as she realizes she’s been screaming. It takes her another moment to realize that there isn’t just blood streaming down her face.

“Carolina,” Texas starts again, with more ferocity.

“No! I don’t need your help, I don’t need anyone’s help! I’ll win this fucking war, whatever it takes, and I’m not letting you beat me at anything anymore!”

“What if I need yours?!” Texas screams, and she stops. She doesn’t manage to utter more than a quiet “what?” before Texas continues, still screaming in a hoarse voice. “I followed you into that fucking program because I couldn’t do this alone, I couldn’t do any of it alone! Our fucking dad never saw me, he just saw mom! If I could just get him, get you to realize I wasn’t going to fuck off and die like she did, then maybe I could just… I would just get to be your sister!” Texas is crying now too, tears mixing with blood.

In a much quieter voice, her sister continues. “After Leo left, you were all I had. And you were so obsessed with the Covenant, and the war, and you jumped on the opportunity when you could go and make a difference. I didn’t know what else to do but follow. The director fought me every opportunity he could, and I had to be better, faster, stronger, because otherwise I’ll go and get myself fucking blown up the same way his wife, the same way mom did.”

Allison looks down, hands clenched into fists. “You were the best of the best, Carolina. If I was next to you, then I didn’t need to be anything else but me.”

She watches her sister breathe some more, and then looks down at her own gloved hands. There’s blood splattered on them, contrasting against the vibrant cyan and silver.

Overthinking the covens

Is the only way to join the Emperor's coven becoming a cop? There are more jobs then just guard/scout/captain/warden/etc after all.

Who helps run individual police precincts, helps with distributing the Conformatorium’s budgeting, creates promotional material, heck who’s even in charge of hiring inside different branches?

I’d say these are mostly things done by members of other covens who happen to work closely with the EC and that the brand/explicit membership is exclusive to only enforcers like the show states.. but that’s just not true. Flora is one such example. Lilith working as lead historian is another (though that seemed to coexist with her work as coven head/possibly whatever her previous ranks were).

Like.. the main 9 covens aren’t really organizations. Some subsidiaries are, but despite being referred to as ‘subsidiaries’ the main covens can barely be called holding companies. At least with our current worldbuilding.

It’s just a brand and a slight idea of what one may bring to the table job wise + a leader. The most we even see a main coven leader do is personal arrest missions* for Belos, picking up recruits*, and fucking each other over politically. We know jack about what their positions as leaders mean. What are they leading?? Their titles are the only reason I can hesitantly call the 9 main covens holding companies, but there’s really nothing else to indicate it. The EC is the only one that seems to function as a unit.

Sub covens are possibly the exception if they require membership of one of the main 9. For example, Blight industries is a subsidiary of the Abomination Coven, implying all its members are AC. Presumably ‘Blight industries’ refers to Alador and his team. You’d think Odalia would be considered a member though and she’s in the Oracle coven. So if it isn’t “you have to be a member of X main coven to join Y subsidiary” is it more something like “Y subsidiary gives taxes to X coven/defers to X coven in whatever system is going on there bc the show gives us jack shit”? I just really want to know how this is all organized and ran. This is the kind of tasty worldbuilding this show is missing.

Why is Flora, who doesn’t seem to work as a cop or guard or any other rank we know of a member of the EC? The EC seems to only be joinable through becoming a scout. It seems to be an organization unlike the other covens. It seems to have very specific jobs that the EC was created to fulfill In the first place. But working as a historian shouldn’t theoretically require access to all magic. So.. why is it an EC job and why is scout training required?

I mean the inspectors are another example! Not the kind of job to have alongside working as a cop or doing scout work. But they are EC members regardless.

Are the drummers Bard Coven members or Emperor’s Coven members? They wear regalia reminiscent of the EC after all. It’s seemingly not needed enough to be a full time job but they are obviously trained for it. You couldn't just grab any random guard, put them in the outfit and expect them to know what to do. So is there another job here?

Are there tax collectors? Lawyers? How do laws even get passed? I can’t imagine Belos handles all of that, especially on a local level.

I guess what I'm wondering is: are there non-sworn* positions in the Emperor’s Coven? Because it’s seems like there are! You should theoretically be able to join a non-sworn position in the EC from entry level. No becoming a scout (AKA a sworn position) required! But we never see anyone indicate that’s an option in the show. Becoming a scout is painted as the only way into the coven. Idk. It’s weird

* I don’t know why or how that fits into the coven head’s jobs. Tasks like that are why the Emperor’s coven even exists. Don’t tell me there aren’t any other extremely powerful witches in the EC who can reliably fulfill that purpose (who aren’t Hunter

* Did no one find it weird that a coven head was transporting new recruits. I get why Darius showed up, he wanted to save the kids. But realistically it’s not the job of the abomination coven head to transport new scouts to.. wherever. Did Hunter not��find that weird? Or did he assume Darius was just really proud of him and went to deliver the cloak personally, despite it being his day off? Idfk

* ’Sworn’ referring to those with arrest power and ‘non-sworn’ refers to other law enforcement jobs

Absolutely! It's just a couple of pages right now but still. It's specifically an Inquisition AU. Ava gets the Mark after Francis murders her and she’s passing through the Fade when the Breach is created, catapulting her back to life and making her similar to Cole, caught halfway between mortal and spirit, which is how she gets her Halo powers. I can’t decide if I want her to be a warrior or a mage, both options work really well imo!

Mama S is the one trying to reform the Inquisition, and she's a badass rogue with her swordcane. Lilith is a Seeker with dreams of being Lord Seeker like her ancestors, she uses a sword and shield. Beatrice is a loyalist mage who meets Mama S at the start of the rebellion and immediately joins the Inquisition, she favors lightning spells. Camila is a Chantry sister that meets Mama S by chance and gets recruited for her rogue skills. Obviously she uses a bow and favors traps.

I can't decide if Mary is the Varric of this AU or if Varric is also present. Regardless, she's a rogue who uses a Bianca-adjacent crossbow and is in love with Shannon, who I've tentatively set as the HoF. Yasmine isn't a companion but she is the Research Gal you can take all your enemy loot to to get combat bonuses.

I go back and forth on this but I think Jillian leads the rebel mages, trying to cure Michael of the Blight. She’s a good person, but trying to save Michael leaves her vulnerable to manipulation from Adriel and the Venatori, and it takes seeing the future via the time warp to make her side with the Inquisition.

Vincent is obviously the stupid idiot who betrays the group to side with Adriel, he's basically Samson, and he leads the Red Templars in the attack on Haven.

I'm not sure who plays the Solas role yet, maybe Solas himself idk. Or Reya, who knows? Some characters from the game are still present, like Vivienne (because I love her) and Iron Bull (because I love him).

The rumors about Ava's resurrection push her past just being the Herald of Andraste with some people speculating that she may be Andraste reborn, which brings new people to the Inquisition while destabilizing and infuriating the Chantry. Ava is still basically an atheist who gets really uncomfortable every time someone calls her Andraste or the Maker's Chosen. Which is a problem because Beatrice is still very devout and is one of the first to believe that Ava is Chosen, much to her dismay.

Related note: I'm leaning more towards Ava being a mage because 1) I'm a Mage!Andraste truther and 2) magic training with Beatrice is a MUST.

That's what I've got so far! If I can ever buckle down and write more, I might post a snippet sometime.
