The Pink Panther Anniversary #1
Published by American Mythology Productions I don’t know how familiar this character currently is to the youth of today, but if you’re Gen X or an Elder Millenial, then I think it’s safe to say that you’ve seen many Pink Panther cartoons when you were a kid. In fact, I’m sure that just seeing an image of the character automatically puts that classic theme song in your head. You’re…

NEW OCS NEW OCS NEW OCS
For the past months or so I've been working on some characters for a new story and worldbuilding project! Say hi to the Feltlings! Who are sentient stuffies and puppets that walk, talk, and get jobs like you!
I'll give a more detailed post on them eventually, but the characters shown and their basic descriptions are:
Barry Norman: A hardworking man in his 40s that was once a child star for a puppet show from the 80s, he now lives a mostly quiet and normal life as a office worker. He likes to grow plants, cook, and is just a regular (albeit very overworked and constantly stressed) guy!
Divi Devil: A feltling built in the shape of a demon. Divi was a ex convict that's been involved in a lot of criminal activity, but has now turned her life around and works as a mechanic. She loves metal music, horror films, and is your big sister now.
Candy the Ant: A young teen ant that was originally part of a brand of ant mascots for children. These ants were a tight knit community, but very conformist and Candy doesn't want to be seen as marketable and like anyone else, she wants to be herself! She is highly into alt fashions, art, and only wants to have friends that understand her.
Artie the Aardvark: A handsewn Aardvark plush who was initially made by a kindly old Ghanan lady's grandson as a present, but turned out to be a Feltling. They're a grumpy old Feltling and prefer to keep to themselves, but they care for their family and take their job as a babysitter and therapy toy seriously.
Ashti Baran: The human of the group. Ashti is a young Kurdish transfemme with a talent for textiling and tailoring and has dreams of being a fashion designer. However, Ashti deals with a lot of anxiety and finds most people scary to deal with, but has found most friendships in Feltlings who are less scary to her. She's had to deal with a lot but when she's at her most comfortable, she's just a ordinary girl who'd gladly talk to you about fabrics.

Wonderful Things That May or May Not Be Wonderful The Anteater. An odd animal. An animal whose entire existence is devoted to one thing: The consumption of ants and termites. Its body has evolved for this very purpose. Its long sticky tongue can find its way through tiny ant burrows to slurp out its prey. Its front claws have enough sharpness and strength to rip open termite mounds said to be as hard as concrete. Their long and dense fur protects from their prey's overwhelming assaults. Also, while the giant anteater is the most  iconic, there are three other varieties, each having a prehensile table to help climb the trees of the jungle in search of their prize. That kind of sole specialization can be seen as depressing but it can also be seen taking every measure you can to achieve your goals. If you don't get what I'm saying here, it's that anteaters are wonderful and we should all love them!

Mugshot Monday - "The Ant and the Aardvark" vintage coffee mug with Ethiopia Single Origin Light Roast by Peace Coffee
Nostalgia had me picking up this cup with a blue anteater and a red ant on it.
My brain was thinking it was a Pink Panther coffee mug, but then I just got confused. It was non-descript and no mug maker tag on the bottom.
I decided to buy it and do some coffee mug CSI when I got home.
The blue guy is actually an aardvark, not an ant eater. And the red ant's name is Charlie.
Here's Wikipedia's write-up on The Ant and the Aardvark cartoon which helped fill in some details regarding why the characters talk the way they do. Also cool to find out it's the same actor doing both voices:
The cartoon series follows attempts of a blue aardvark (voiced by John Byner, imitating Jackie Mason) attempting to catch and eat a red ant named Charlie (also voiced by Byner, imitating Dean Martin), usually doing so by inhaling with a loud vacuum cleaner sound. The aardvark character is essentially unnamed; in the episode "Rough Brunch", he claims his name is simply "Aardvark". Despite this, and his identification in the series title as an aardvark, in many of the shorts he refers to himself (and is referred to by the ant) as an anteater. The ant gives his nemesis a variety of names as sly terms of endearment (Ol' Sam, Ol' Ben, Ol' Blue, Claude, Pal, Buddy, Daddy-O). In several bumper sequences of The Pink Panther Show, he is called "Blue Aardvark".
Aha! So, I was correct to think this cup was from the Pink Panther show. They first appeared in the fall of 1971 and would make cameos every now and then.
You can watch all original 17 episodes of The Ant and the Aardvark produced from 1969 through 1971. Enjoy! ☕️
