OK SO NOW THAT THE EP IS LIVE. I watched last weeks live stream and the actors were giving their favourite episodes to record. A big consensus was episode 10 where “Alice and Sam go to a place”. No other details were given but friends of mine have been speculating they might pay a visit to the institute ruins. And now I’m wondering if that might be when Gwen is off like mentioned at the end of

The roots in episode 3 of the Magnus Protocol remind me of the vines Oliver Banks saw around people who were about to die
Probably nothing tho...

So. Norris! Buddy. Is there any particular reason you decided to read that particular file for everyone?
You know, the file about a man consumed by fear and guilt because he murdered the person he loved?
The file about a man who finds himself trapped in a walled garden, cut off from the outside world, with his murdered lover's voice forever whispering in whatever remains of his ears?
The file about a man who finds himself gradually losing his humanity as his new prison transforms him, slowly and painfully, into a part of itself?
The file about a man who finds that even as this transformation ultimately brings him serenity on the surface, even as he can no longer remember what he once was, "deep inside [him] beneath the roots there is something that still shakes with terror"?
Look, I'm just asking, here, but is there anything you'd like to say to the class, Norris?

This episode had me so flustered I don’t even know why!!!!
[ID: Three drawings of the artist sitting on a couch with headphones on and a cat in their lap. The first drawing is of them listening contently with a hand on their cat. An arrow pointed at them reads “listening to magp 6” referring to the sixth episode of The Magnus Protocol. The second drawing has them shooting up in their seat, a blush on their surprised face. Their cat is scared by the sudden reaction. From their headphones a speech bubble reads “Celia [speaking]: Lena, these little donuts are amazing! Where do you get them?”
The last drawing on the bottom is a closeup of the artist, the blush taking over their face. Their internal thoughts say “Sam, if you don’t romance this woman, I will!” with a faded lesbian flag behind the text. \End ID]

Many thoughts whirring in my mind about Colin and Alice's conversation at the start of the episode. Specially the issue of personifying Freddie.
Colin starts out the yelling at and talking about the system like it has sentience and is causing him problems on purpose. But as soon as Alice starts talking to it, he immediately shuts her down. It's rich of him to say they shouldn't be personifying Freddie when he was literally just doing it. Why the double standard?
I think Colin knows or suspects something about Freddy that he's is not letting on. Does he have some reason to think that Freddie may have some level of intelligence? He knows something is listening to them through the computers. It makes sense for that to be connected to Freddie. It's possible that the system is actually purposefully breaking itself and causing issues and Colin has picked up on it. Making him more likely to ascribe sentience to it, but also not want to call too much attention to it. Maybe because he knows something is listening he doesn't want to let on how much he knows or suspects about Freddie's capabilities.
Then there's his vehement refusal to involve central IT. The red tape excuse is plausible but I think Colin knows that if anyone else with any kind of expertise looked at the system they would know that something is up. I think he wants to figure out what's going on himself. He doesn't want anyone else coming in and messing with his investigation. That or he has some reason to not trust central IT that he's also keeping to himself.
Also I'm sure I'm not the only one side eyeing the .jmj error. Yeah, yeah, Jon, Martin, Jonah. Again though, that feels so, obvious. It feels like something put in specifically to catch the attention of and distract everyone who is looking for clues about the archives boys being in the computers. The question then is distract us from what?

What is Alice's game?
I didn't notice it at first, but the more episode we get I start to notice how Alice is setting Sam up on bad terms with the rest of the team, it's subtle, but it's there:
her general attitude to Gwen is hostile (so is ours, as per her namesake) and she voices so to Sam, but from what we've seen Gwen is actually quite competent and civil, we've got to see more of her yet, but it seems that Sam is keeping his distance to not "betray" his friendship with Alice in turn Alice is putting certain "ideas" about Gwen into Sam's head by making jabs at how "spoiled, nepo hire" she is
she set Sam up against Colin twice now - once as a "joke" which we all read as playful, but now she told him to call Central IT "for her" right after we all heard it will not change much and only piss Colin off who will have to do all the paperwork
Lena so far is distant, she's a boss after all, but again Alice's supposed nihilism paints her as out of touch boss, not somebody that would serve as a confidant
I know, Hanlon's razor, she could simply be into bad taste jokes and genuienly is ignorant to what she's doing, but to me it feels like an isolation setup - she sets Sam up against everybody and presents herself as the only "bridge" of communication between Sam and the rest of the team.

Ppl going "waaahh unpopular opinion but Alice is kind of annoying and obnoxious and I don't think I'd like be her friend irl" is so funny to me bc like.
God forbid a cast of characters be multifaceted and have actual flaws and unpleasant aspects other than "grr angsty hero" and "whoops i'm so clumsy". Sometimes character dynamics and arcs need to be prioritized above "who would i personally be niceys with irl"
2. bro just WAIT until you hear about season 1 jon lol
