Team Calm Raid: Koffing-Time Debriefing
Hi guys, update after yesterdays very exciting events. I'm typing this while on the plane back home, so it's gonna be a bit for me until it's up, but once you can read it, i'm probably back at the café. I think i have to take the day off, to care for all my pokémon (more on that below), but Olivia has agreed to run the café for another day. (If it's urgent, i'll be around though) I am so thankful my friend, you are saving my ass! (Otherwise we would have been closed today)
So... what happened?
I posted a few tiny things, and maybe you saw post by other people, so you might already know. @champion-class-hatsune-miku made a call to action, and i decided to answer. Yesterday, we went to raid the Alola-Base of Team Calm. You know, those guys that do terrible genetic experiments to create so called "ultra-domesticated Pokémon". I don't want to go into detail, basically: these Pokémon are either passive beyond recognition, or get intimidated incredibly easy. They will not defend themself if attacked, and if they are a carnivorous species, they also refuse to hunt. Often to a degree where they can barely function at life. A lot of them have other health issues as well. And, well, those are the "successful" UDs. The less fortunate have horrible mutations. If you want to learn more, i recommend checking in with @prof-lemon and their initiative @team-violence.
The raid was overall a success. The base was destroyed, which was not what we were aiming for, but i'm not mad. This just means they won't be able to continue doing this stuff, at least in Alola. As far as i know, nobody was left inside when it collapsed, neither one of the raiders nor team calm grunts or the Pokémon they bred. The only uncertainty left (to my knowledge) would be Circe, the leader of team calm. I have to say, i hope she got away. Just to clarify, she did horrible things, but i want her to stop, not to die. A few grunts were hurt, some raiders got hit in the face as well, but nothing life threatening happend, as far as i know. Me and my Pokémon are fine. We didn't go for the front line with battles, we took on the role to care for the frightened UDs and give first aid to those who got hurt. (Big thanks to everyone who supported me there! I was not alone and this was very very VERY helpful)
The rescued Pokémon will be cared for. Each of us took a few with us, but the bulk had to be rehomed to shelters, at least temporarily. Another big thanks to Miku, she contacted a lot of them to prepare. I think most of the UDs are in Alola, but a lot of shelters all over the world have supported this cause. If you want to do your own little thing to help us out and adopt one of them, go and ask around. (Prof. Lemon and Miku can probably tell you which shelters exactly have some UDs). But be warned: these ultra-domesticated Pokémon sound cute, nice and easy to care for, but the vast majority of them are very high maintenance. Please make sure you are ready for such a commitment.
As for myself: i have 4 of these Pokémon with me right now. They are 2 Trubbish, a Mareanie and a Petilil. This is the main reason i have to take the day off. I have to show them around, and i should also spend some time with Flit and Ampersand (the Beedrill ad Sliggoo that i adopted from the Snowbelle City shelter. Thank you again @oh-shinx, for doing that event!)
That being said, if you have questions, don't hesitate to ask! And i'll see you all on wednesday for @frostbite-yinny's Babyshower, all right?

Drumroll‚ please! 🥁
It’s been some time, and I managed to slip on my promised deadline once again (thank you for your patience)... But finally‚ we return to the story of Teresa and Andrea in our Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky Randomizer!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A few items of note before we get started (and yeah sorry this is overly detailed and lengthy because idk what it means to be concise, just scroll down if you're not interested):
Please be aware: updates to Team Heavenly’s story will not be as frequent as they were during main. I now work a full-time job in a field where my schedule is somewhat contingent on unanticipated emergencies. And in general‚ I’m just a very busy adult! So I unfortunately can’t give you an exact (or even rough) timeline of when posts will be released— It basically comes down to whenever I have the time to do it. But rest assured‚ the entirety of this tale will be told… eventually!
I’ve gotten my hands on a newer tablet since last year, so my camera quality is much better now! …However. While snapping pics for this post‚ a seemingly unavoidable digital blue glare persisted‚ no matter how I adjusted my screen brightness. When I subsequently ran these photos through the auto function‚ they didn’t really… improve? So I had to do a lot of manual tweaking… Anyway‚ all of that to say if one shot doesn’t look visually consistent with another, it’s because each image got edited a little bit differently.
I will link multiple posts for a single "chapter" (see last bullet) in the same manner as before, with preceding and succeeding parts linked at the beginning and end, respectively. I’ll also update the table of contents in the pinned post for continued ease of navigation.
Also, please note... last year, my older iPad somehow managed to circumvent any sort of (consistent) image limit. But that is not the case this time! There is a strict hard limit of 30 images per post. It's therefore likely that post-game chapters will have more parts than the main-story chapters ever did. (Though whether that actually equates to a "lengthier" chapter is up for debate.)
As the post-game content does not get separated into official chapters‚ I will be partitioning the story based on subject matter! For example, this first act will focus on the guild’s graduation exam, the next will include Sky Peak, and so on. I also intend to use a random number generator to select chapter names from this list. (I mean, c’mon, that's part of the fun of a randomizer!) But for the sake of clarity, I will be including the actual subject matter after the chosen title in (parentheses). Thus‚ this first unofficial post-game chapter is known as…
Chapter 21: Would you like to eat moss?
(AKA: The Guild’s Graduation Exam)
As a result of Teresa and Andrea’s heroic actions… The destruction of time was stopped and peace returned to the world of Pokémon. They went back to Totodile’s Guild and fell back into their daily routine of vigorous training.
One morning‚ several months later…
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pineco: “:/ Hey hey, why can Teresa and Andrea take the graduation exam before we do? We’ve been around a lot longer…”
Tropius: “…They literally saved the world and have proven themselves to be worthy many times over. Also skill issue lol.”
Don’t feel bad for Pineco though; he’s not the only one getting roasted.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lol rip.
Anyway‚ Andrea asks the very sensible question of what exactly this exam entails…
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Dark Chasm? Evil MANSION?!
Are you— are you sending us back to the future‚ Totodile?! WTF??
Tumblr media
Oh! That’s easy enough though. I mean‚ compared to scaling a collapsing tower while Time itself crumbled at our feet? Pshaw! This will be a cakewalk!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
...You know, this is really the first thing that should have tipped me off as a kid 🤦‍♀️
Tumblr media Tumblr media
🤨 How convenient.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Okay, so he's not gonna be any help, unfortunately. Looks like we're going in blind. (Haha unintentional pun...unless?)
But for real, anything that makes Mewtwo cry out in fear and run away is a force to be reckoned with indeed.
Tumblr media
As we enter Nautical Cottage to begin our preparations, we run into our stand-ins for Teddiursa and Ursaring! After a quick chat, Horsea reveals they are also headed to the Dark Chasm...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
*seen (sorry).
Also, at the risk of beating a dead Horsea (aHA! TWO FOR TWO ON THE PUNS!), y'all go play WHERE? *gets hit immediately by a Snipe Shot*
Tumblr media
Andrea immediately suspects something is sus. Unfortunately, this is the smartest she's ever gonna get about it.
Anyway, it's been a hot minute, so I go to check my storage and evaluate what I have to work with...
Tumblr media
BRUH?? I do NOT remember picking this up omg 😳
So my plan is to equip this for the exam, right? But then I totally forgot to do that 😅
Also I don't have a picture for this but I was able to buy 3 Poké from the Finnkecleon shop for free lol
Tumblr media
✅Mission: set ✅Destination: arrived ✅Chance of success: 💯😎🎆
Tumblr media
Oh my god, this really is the future of darkness!! I guess our efforts to save the world weren't enough, damn 😓
Tumblr media
🎶I'm starting with the man in the mirror I'm asking him to change his ways🎶
Tumblr media
A couple of Gummis later, Teresa learns the Lava Evader IQ Skill! Neat!
Tumblr media
Me when Ivysaur used Fly:
Tumblr media
Believe it or not, this actually almost killed Andrea at 96 damage. But the stairs were nearby and I wasn't too worried about it until...
Tumblr media
Go figure, amirite?
Then Andrea reminded me of the awesome power of Blizzard and we knocked out everyone except Combusken and the Kabuto on the first turn <3 And she got right back up again in no time with the Fast Healer skill!
Does anyone remember that one time when I had the foolish idea to forget Quick Attack in favor of Helping Hand? Yeah, not one of my smartest moves. But I managed to find a TM in this dungeon that does the same thing as Quick Attack but better!
Here's the info for Quick Attack:
Tumblr media
And here's the info for Mach Punch:
Tumblr media
Higher power and hit ratio? Yes please! (Yes, I'm aware both are only one star stronger. But hey, every bit counts.)
I teeechnically have enough room for three more images, but this feels like a natural transition point so click here to advance to Part 2!

5 comfort characters & 5 tags
Thank you so much for tagging me @sonderlativ
I put this under a cut because it ended up being a litter longer and I don't want to just put a wall of a post on someone’s dash. So, in no particular order, my comfort characters are:
Tumblr media
Nero (Devil May Cry)
It was a head to head race to the finish line between Nero and Vergil but I ultimately picked Nero simply because I can relate to him more. Absent fathers, not a whole lot of friends growing up, more or less ignored/disliked by most people around you, wacky uncles. I just like him a lot. And if I keep talking, I might dive into some very personal stuff that I’m not necessarily comfortable discussing openly.
Tumblr media
Princess Zelda (Breath of the Wild, Tears of the Kingdom)
*quick disclaimer: I won’t mention anything about TotK here because it’s only been out for little over a week and I don’t want to spoil anything for people who haven’t completed the game yet*
Boy, where do I even start? Zelda spends the majority of her childhood and teenage years under extreme pressure to awaken her bloodline’s abilities and while she understands that it’s important, she just wants to study the ancient Sheikah tech. She wants to do what makes her happy but can’t because the entire world depends on her. Which leaves her severly stressed and if that isn’t a mood and a half I don’t what is. Wanting to do something you love but not being able to. While this is not my favourite incarnation of the character (that honour goes to Skyward Sword Zelda), she is definitely the one I understand the best in terms of stress and heavy expectations.
Tumblr media
Erik (Dragon Quest 11)
Words cannot express how much I love Erik. He’s literally the best character in the entire game. His arc is amazing and heartbreaking. He is there from almost the beginning and stands with the main character without question, leaving behind his life of crime for not entirely altruistic reasons at first but staying because he really does want to help. I love how he rolls with the punches, looks at all the weirdness of a JRPG and goes ‘this is so weird, you know that? But we’re doing it anyway’. And he is a real doofus at some points.
(I also happen to ship him with the MC).
Tumblr media
Natural Harmonia Gropius (Pokémon Black/White, Black2/White2)
Ok, here we are. My OG blorbo. The one I’ve had for far longer than the others. This man has been living in my head rent free ever since I first played Gen 5. At the core of his being, N just wants to do good and help pokémon, protect them from abuse but the man who raised him just uses him for his own gains and made him think that all pokémon who are not living in the wilds away from humans are being mistreated. Over the course of the first game, he begins to understand that this might not be as true as he thought it was through his friendship/rivalry with the player character and seeing how much their team loves them. Then years later, N is able to stand up to his father and not only saves the new protagonist from being killed but also helps to end Team Plasma’s plans for good (more or less anyway, his arrival did enable part of the climatic battle). Also, he can literally talk to pokémon and understand them. I just adore his development over the games so much.
And last but not least, I’m gonna cheat a little and include an OC of mine because you can’t stop me
Tumblr media
Morgan Julian Hale (D&D, and so many other things at this point)
Morgan started out as my very first dnd character and has since then cemented himself as a personal favourite, having been put into a lot of my favourite worlds over time. When I wrote his original backstory, I didn’t realise how much a self-insert I made him. I only figured that out when a friend literally pointed it out to me. Morgan was raised by a single mother, is a social outcast and not really a people person. Give him a book and he’ll be good for the rest of the day, leave him around people and he’ll shut down faster than you can blink. The last part being incredibly funny when considering that he’s a sorcerer, a class that uses the charisma stat primarily. He’s also being hunted by a cult that wants his magical dragon blood. I don’t know what part of my psyche is represented by that and at this point I’m too afraid to ask. (Also, the picrew didn’t have an option for pointed ears but just fyi, he’s a half-elf)
Honourable mentions: obv Vergil who just barely didn’t make it, Byleth from Fire Emblem - Three Houses and Dorian Pavus from Dragon Age Inquisition.
As for tagging, @queenmuzz and since I don’t know anyone else well enough to feel comfortable tagging them I’m just gonna open this up to anyone who wants to jump in.

Pokéchronology, Volume I: Yellow
Day 1
Welcome to Pokéchronology! This is a post series where I play through one game from every core Pokémon release, including remakes, in chronological order; hence the name. As I do, I'll be recording my thoughts and experiences in posts like this one, whenever I make progress.
We're starting off with Pokémon Yellow, the most feature-complete version of the Generation I games. This will continue as a trend going forward wherever there is a third main series Pokémon game released after the initial pair.
If for some reason you're worried about spoilers for the plot of one of the first Pokémon games ever released, I've hidden the rest of this post beyond this point. It should also make things nice and compact and easier to see before you start reading.
Pallet Town
Well now, my first ever experience playing a main line Pokémon game. What to name my character? Imagining what I would do if I were a kid playing this game on his GameBoy twenty years ago, I went with the obvious choice: Evan. Because that's my name.
I didn't feel like naming the rival, so I just called him Gary and got down to business. I spent a little bit of time exploring Pallet Town, in particular examining all the bookshelves, because for some reason I thought one of them might have something different to say. Once I was satisfied I went to find Professor Oak and soon after got my Pikachu, who I named BIG RAT. I am way more amused by that than I probably should be, evidenced by the fact that I couldn't stop giggling like an idiot after I had done so.
The first battle with Gary was somewhat unremarkable but I quickly realized that Gary's Eevee is not to be underestimated. That Tackle does quite a lot of damage, and I very well could have lost that battle if all it did was attack. Maybe I should have started off by lowering its Attack before Thundershocking my way to victory.
Viridian City
Time to go to Viridian City. Once I arrive I get Oak's package and take it back to him, he gives me the Pokédex, and I return to the city to get some Poké Balls. I thought about going back to Route 1 and catching some Pokémon, but because BIG RAT is too strong, I couldn't really improve my chances by weakening said Pokémon. So I continued, deciding to explore the path west of Viridian City where I was accosted by Gary.
This is a dicey battle to get in when all you've got is an underleveled Pikachu and Gary now has two level 8 Pokémon. The first isn't really a problem, but Eevee is still tough to handle. Thankfully, Gary is an idiot and keeps telling his Eevee to use Status moves instead of spamming Tackle. After a very long and protracted battle where Sand Attack had dropped BIG RAT's Accuracy so low I wasn't sure I'd be lucky enough to finish the battle, I managed to scrape by with two Potions, and ending the battle with BIG RAT at critical health.
Viridian Forest
Okay, so I definitely need to catch some Pokémon. After healing up at the Pokémon Center I went to Viridian Forest hoping to add some new members to my team. Something that really struck me was that many trainers already have more than one Pokémon to battle you with, which I know is not the case in modern Pokémon games. It's good to know they put a little more thought into trainer battles and didn't make the games into total cakewalks back then.
Anyway, I fought all the trainers in Viridian Forest, who in spite of what I just said were all generally pushovers. Well, not that I expected much from a bunch of kids fielding weak ass bug Pokémon. I added three members to my team in the process: a Metapod that I named Dusty, a Caterpie named Butterboy, and BIRD UP, the Pidgey. Hardly a stellar lineup, but I don't think Pikachu is going to cut it in the first gym.
Pewter City
Here we go, first gym coming up. I figure Brock will be a lot tougher than my previous opponents, so I pop back into Viridian Forest for a bit of training before challenging his gym. The trainer upfront isn't a total joke but easy enough to win against, and you can just leave the gym to heal before coming back to challenge Brock himself.
There really isn't much you can do about his Rock type Pokémon in Yellow. They're just really sturdy and you're gonna have to deal with it. Which would be an issue... if you couldn't just Sand-Attack and Growl their stats into oblivion. Yeah, once you nerf them they become pretty harmless, which means you're free to then beat the shit out of them. Verrry slowly.
And there you have it: first gym beaten. The difficulty curve so far has been interesting; it's steep in some ways, compared to other Pokémon games, but it's manageable if you come in knowing what you're up against. I admit that I'm not really getting the true first-time Pokémon experience here. I'm familiar with a number of type match-ups already from having played Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time, and I have watched a fair amount of Pokémon content in my spare time.
That's where I'll be wrapping things up for Day 1. I feel like I'm off to a good start. Hopefully I can keep the momentum going as I continue. I figure the gyms won't be super problematic since they're all based around a certain type which means they're easy to strategize around, but I have no idea how the Elite Four and Champion battles are going to go.

Who am I ?
I'm Klaus and I use he/they pronouns, a teacher at the Pokemon Academy in Santalune City (Neuvartault), Kalos. I'm originally from Johto but I moved here just before I started the Gym Challenge. And I'm in my mid-twenties.
I am still a trainer, but it's not a big thing anymore for me and my team. They enjoy battles every once in a while, and are fine if they don't (except Marie)
Also, you can ask things to my Pokémons (or myself of course !)
Tumblr media
Nido, the docile Nidoking, he is my first Pokemon and is always out when I'm teaching (tag : #nido the nidoking ) Marie, the brave Quadsire, she really loves battling, I use her every time a student asks me for a training battle (tag : #marie the quagsire ) Piotr, the serious Persian, he is always serious, and for some reason, he is the one my students prefer the most (tag : #piotr the persian ) Talia, the rash Umbreon, she likes being pet, like she really likes being pet, and will be grumpy for a while if you stop just for 2 seconds (tag : #talia the umbreon ) Lerouge, the relaxed Skarmory, he likes sleeping and flying, and he is a rescued pokemon. All pretty normal (unfortunately for the rescued part) things for a Johtonian Skarmory (tag : #lerouge the skarmory ) Charline, the adamant Gogoat, she is the only Pokemon I caught in Kalos, she only likes me and lets no one (except me) pet her (tag : #charline the gogoat )
ooc under the cut
Bonjour, Bonsoir ! I'm starting this blog (in hope that I don't forgot about it in three weeks) bc I've been enjoying pokemon rp blogs for the past weeks. I had the idea for a longer time. I'm still learning, so please be nice
If anyone wants to know, I'm considering that 100 pokedollars = 1 euro. Because I went reading on some french forums where people discuss to know how we can convert pokedollars into euros. I found that's just easier to do 100 pk$ = 1€. Pokeworld economy is a nightmare when converts in our world
Also, it can be relevant to know that I'm using the metric system
I will post in two languages (french and english, but mainly english). I'm french and neurodivergent, so my sentences can be weird when read. If it happens, ask me to be clearer, I will not take it badly (je mords pas les gens). My name's irrelevant, but I go by just K (pronounced "Ké"), ngl I like K :p, I use They/He (Iel/Il in fr) but I'm fine with neopronouns (iel is a neopronoun in french ! ;3)
(No NSFW here. )
If interacting with an adult makes you uncomfortable, it's not a place for you
I also play as @spiritualhoenn and as @not-quite-a-murkrow
EDIT FROM 25TH MAY 2023:
So, I'm back here o/ Well, I really needed this break, though I should have talked about it before disappearing. But yeah, I'm back.
Just a few things; 1) I'll be slower to respond to anything and I'll interact less with any kind of high-stakes plot, bc I can't do it that much and no everything is set down in my life, I still need to plan like 5/6 medical appointments and I hadn't had any news about them for about 2 weeks, so I'll need to go easy on a lot of things (bc like a lot of people here, rp is one of my escapism) 2) I could disappear again, I'll try to say it before doing it -but most of the time when I disappear it's because I'm triggered -and I don't have a lot of clues why some things trigger me or even what triggers me. But I'm actively trying to take care of my mental health
EDIT FROM 07TH MARCH 2024:
3) My main (klausfromkalos) is restarting slowly, the others are not 4) I'm really happy to come back people ^^ <3 <3 <3 JE VOUS AIME LES GENS. BISOUS BISOUS !!!!! <3 <3 <3
EDIT FROM 19TH MARCH 2024:
If you see one of my drawings out that isn't on @ocelaw or on my Ko-Fi, stone the guy

For the Valentines ask!!
(1). Your favourite non-canon ship?
(5). What is your most fluffy + happy ship?
(24). What is one scene you want to see happen for all your ships?
ohh I had to think about these, they're hard ones XD 1. I'm a sucker and I usually just go with canon ships, so I don't have many ^^;; I'm sure there's a bigger one I'll remember someday, buT specifically I remember in ---idk if you've ever seen the anime "koi to Yobu ni wa Kimochi Warui" (because I forget the English title, I watched it in like a day)--- there's the main love interest who's this blonde guy who's a salaryman and he gets saved by this high school girl and falls in love with her and so on, but her classmate is also in love with her, and I know the anime is set up for you to like the salaryman with her, but I have to pick the classmate personally. Not even because of the age difference, I just like him so much more, he's so nice, like what. why is she making that choice. what, why ??
Oh and I also love gladion/moon. It's not canon because it's a pokémon game and like. they're 10 in-game. but the dynamic? lovely. I love it. Cute girl who's bubbly and will barge into your room and the edgelord™ who says "get out" but doesn't actually mean it because he has a soft spot for her even though they're supposed to be enemies? when they team up later and get to work together?? when right before the elite 4 he stops her and says that he appreciates it and can only show his emotions through pokémon battling or whatever? please 5. uhhhh maybe hiccstrid?? That's one from my childhood though, so I don't really seek out content for it, keeping it sacred and what not (that said I do enjoy fanart and stuff of them when I see it ^^) but they're probably the ones that are the most chill and actually canonically in a happy/healthy relationship haha 24. I like a lot of the popular tropes -v- anything cute, especially if it has meaning to that specific pairing. That said, something more specific: I love anything and everything where they're speaking to each other and they mean something else. Like I think it's hard to do well and it's not very common, but I love the "we're talking about this thing in front of us, or the movie we're watching, or some characters in a book or something, but really we're being honest and open and vulnerable to each other from behind this very thin and poorly-concealed veil because we're both too shy to be straightforward but we still long with our entire beings to show ourselves honestly to the other anyway" like that gets me every time, everyone should do it anyway thanks for the ask!! I love thinking about these and trying to come up with good answers ^w^;;

I have finally beaten the main game of Pokémon Reborn doing my Red run thing. Ready for a wall of text? Here we go, SPOILER WARNING in case that wasn’t clear.
So before getting into my thoughts, I thought I’d share with y’all how I found this game. Back in 2013, I was 10 going on 11, my number 1 favorite YouTuber shofu started uploading his series on the game. I was also super into Corpse Party at the time if any indicator of the things I looked for back then. There’s currently 88 eps and I watched ALL of them, I think it was 2018 when he stopped playing so I ended up waiting so long for another video that the game got completed that I just started playing it myself earlier this year. Though, because I already saw most of the game through shofu, I figured I’d just do what I called “the Red run”, where I played as Red down to the sprites and the team. Someone from a now obliterated Discord I owned actually taught me how to resize some of the sprites ‘coz they were blurry and fucked up before them (thank you Renga.)
Anyways, I was originally going to just build up to Red’s team over the course of the game… but at I think Florinia’s Gym, I figured “Well if I’m playing as Red, wouldn’t he bring his Pokémon to the new region anyway?” So I got a Sandbox mod that allowed me to just have the Pokémon from the start. Now, you might be thinking having full evos at the start would have trivialized a lot of battles however, after Florinia it really didn’t matter all that much, this game is gen 7 after all and none of Red’s Pokémon are even close to high tiers anyways. Plus, I stuck to only level up moves and wasn’t EV training ‘til Radomus. After that, I needed new moves so I may have cheated a little and gave certain Pokémon moves they wouldn’t have in this generation, I did stick to moves they could actually have though don’t worry. The run probably would have been over at the Agate Circus if I didn’t have Iron Defense + Body Press on my Blastoise. When I got the Mega Z Ring, I then went and got the Charizardite X and Snorlium Z, though I hate to admit it, Charizard was kind of a jobber in this run. It’s okay though, I forgive him. Nothing massive massive happened after that, I used a LOT of healing items. I wasn’t running super competitive sets either so it might have been me who was the true jobber.
Anyways, time for my thoughts. The ending was a bit strange to me, I’m not sure if I got a bad ending or maybe it wasn’t even an ending and the “true” ending is somewhere in the postgame or what. The Victory Road puzzles kinda peeved me and I finished the game without a break so there’s a chance my mood was just stinky and effected what I thought of the end or something. Loved all the sidequests though, they really made the world feel alive I think. The characters are written so well too, my favorite character freaking died in my playthrough (unless?) I fucking miss his fruity ass. So far in the postgame, I’ve only done the Cresselia quest so who knows what can happen. In short, I’ve been watching this game for an actual decade and this was my first time playing it myself, I highly recommend. In my mind, it had always been THE game that comes to mind when I think about Pokémon fan games.
I think that’s all I got, I’ll probably post more about the game as I play through the post stuff. I did find the room with the devs so rest assured, no one is safe from the hands of Red pokomon.

(ooc stuff under the cut!)
hi everyone! made this account for some light fun on the side and figured i should get some behind the scenes info out of the way:
- it’s mentioned in my bio but i follow and interact from my main blog @skyboxing!
- all posts not in character will be tagged with #ooc
- since my trainer character is primarily a coordinator, i’ll be talking about contests a lot, and i’ll be pulling my contest info and rules from both the games and the anime. definitely playing fast and loose with canon but it’s all just for fun so i’m not taking it too seriously :)
- please feel free to send me asks!! it can be about whatever you want: my character, my team, my character’s coordinator history, opinions on things in the pokémon world, etc. i have a ton of lore and info about my character thought out and i’ll very much appreciate the opportunity to share!
- let’s all have fun! i love this community’s vibes and i haven’t had a pokemon rp blog in an age, and i can’t wait to start posting :3

Currently typing this from the hospital recovering from a fractured rib. Gonna recount what happened yesterday.
So, we ambushed the Hydreigon (aka Kirby). Shoe answer, we got our asses kicked but Queen (my Cinccino) saved our asses.
Long answer, we got the jump on Kirby, and things started off pretty well. Flint’s Cryoganal landed a confuse ray, Natasha’s Tinkaton (Athena) landed a Thunder wave, and everyone had all their Pokémon out landing good hits. Torrent in particular made good use of Copycat to copy Athena’s Play Rough. Meanwhile Nova was setting up Quiver Dances. However before we even realized it, Kirby set off an Earthquake, taking out Marty’s Lucario, and Natasha’s Orthworm and Kingambit.
Then we learned that not only did the shell bell necklace work, it worked really well, and shook off that Paralysis Athena inflicted. Marty’s Heracross and Mienshao tried to land some hits in while Kirby was confused and they were covered by Cryogonal’s reflect, but Kirby started setting up Dragon Dances before going on an Outrage. Marty’s team was fully taken out at that point and Marty Smokebombed out of there.
Athena and Torrent tried landing some hits in while Queen used her King’s Rock and Tail Slaps to stun Kirby, but he broke through despite it all and used another Earthquake to take down Torrent and Athena. He then Frustrationed Cryogonal down. This forced Natasha and Flint to Smokebomb out… leaving me… alone with my main partner down.
Thankfully Nova had set up enough to launch a devastating Dazzling Gleam, but Kirby was strong enough to take it and strike back hard enough to immediately take down Nova. Just leaving Queen. She tried stalling him a bit, but Kirby wasn’t having it. However, as he was still confused from the outrage and was also still in an unstable state, he went for me instead with Frustration. This hurt. A lot. And broke my rib.
I didn’t have time to escape, and thought I was gonna get much worse injuries, but before Kirby could take another Frustration on me, he stopped.
Because Queen was in front of him holding a paw out, like she was telling him to stop. She squeaked for a minute or so, I wasn’t tracking because pain, but after that. He calmed down. It was then I looked at Kirby and realized something: Queen had prepared Attract, and used it to pacify Kirby. I don’t know WHY she didn’t use it earlier! Or why it appeared to work more like Hypnosis or Negotiation. But she had it.
So after that, Flint came back and was able to remove the Shell Bell collar and detain Kirby in a Pokeball so he could take him somewhere where they could hold him. He also called a helicopter to take me to a hospital.
I should be out in a few days, I’ll update y’all on the situation with Kirby when the time comes. This was painful to write. But hey. I’m alive.

Pokemon Sword Nuzlocke Part 1.
This is the beginning of my first (documented) Pokémon Sword Nuzlocke. I have nothing better to do and am extremely bored. So why not?
The rules are simple.
1. Pokémon faints = Dead forever, no longer able to use it.
2. Battles are on 'Switch' mod to help make it easier.
3. Only catch the first Pokémon per route/area. If you fail to catch it, i.e. no Pokéballs, or accidental kill, you are not allowed to get another encounter.
4. Dupes. I am playing with dupes clause, so no Pokémon from the same evolutionary line. Different Pokémon from split evolutions don't count.
5. Items are allowed in battle.
And with that, let the games begin!
_________________________________
I start up the game and go through the usual motions to get my starter. Naming myself, selecting what I'll look like beforehand I change it, putting the text to fast mode, the general stuff.
After a very long opening cutscene, I'm off to meet Leon and finally get my starter.
I choose Scorbunny, name him Flint after the Sinnoh Elite Four, and the next day bash in Hop's Wooloo and Grookey.
After that whole thing, we have to run into some spooky woods to rescue a different Wooloo.
Anyway, nothing really exciting happens until we get to the end where *SPOILERS, YES I HAVE TO PUT THIS HERE-* an illusion of Zacian is.
I think we pass out from the shock cause we wake up to Leon lecturing us about going here.
So we leave the creepy place, and cam finally set off on our journey after telling my mom we're leaving. On to the first encounter!
I find and catch a Skwovet I name Barry, after one of my favorite rivals (you can judge me if you want-).
A quick style change and berry spending trip later, I catch my next encounter, a Blipbug named Einstein
There's a lot of trainers after this so I'll just skip that and move on to the second Hop fight.
Flint and Barry proceed to obliterate his team.
Lot of story happens but the gist of it is me and Hop get Wishing Stars and Prof Magnolia makes them into Dynamax bands.
We set off to the train station the next morning, Hop gives me a Swift TM, we get stopped by our moms who give us camping equipment and we finally get to go.
More story happens but don't ask for details, I really wasn't paying attention.
Anyway, I caught a Manny the Swinub (Rolling Hills), Sora the Vulpix (West Lake Axewell), Orville the Wingull (East Lake Axewell), Belladonna the Stunky (North Lake Axewell) and Glacier the Snorunt (Dappled Grove).
Also Einstein evolved, which is cool.
Finally, I got to Motostoke where I finally completed my look, wandered around a bit looking for items and got my number for my challenger outfit, I always pick 11 because it's my lucky number.
Some stuff happens and I beat some Team Skull grunts in a few battles.
Now it's actually time for the opening ceremony and man is that a long cutscene. I don't mind though cause that means I can just sit back and listen to my Reddit scary stories video.
I also got the Corviknight taxi service thingy with is cool.
I end up battling Hop for the third time, cause Kilnk named Klanker on Route 3 and made my way past the trainers all the way to Galar mine No. 1.
The only interesting thing that happened there was the Bede fight, besides catching the newest Pokémon in there, a Rolycoly I named Fossil Fuel.
The trainers on Route 4 were pretty easy and I got a pretty cool encounter of a Cutiefly.
The first gym was pretty easy, as expected and that opened the opportunity to acquire up to 2 new encounters before the next one.
Everything was going well, until I came to the realization that I don't have a Pokémon that can super-effectively hit any of Nessa's Pokémon as of recently.
I also realized I had two Pokémon that were weaks to Nessa's water types, so for now I have to box Flint and Manny. That leaves two spots open.
I did some research and apparently her Drednaw doesn't actually have any rock moves, so I'll possibly be able to keep Einstein in the equation.
The main threat is not knowing with water move she's going to go for, so I'll have to put something out that completely resists water attacks.
Good thing I have Orville.
I'm nervous, but in Flint and Manny's place I put Glacier the Snorunt and Sora the Vulpix to take their places for now.
If push comes to shove, I can sack them while healing the others.
Here goes nothing.
My plan is to lead with Einstein, the who is the best at taking special attacks, even better than Barry is. The reasoning is that her Goldeen has a really good water type attack in Water Pulse. By getting a Pokémon good at taking special attacks, I lessen the chances of any other Pokémon dying.
My next move is to use Barry for her Arrokuda, since that only has physical moves and physical defense is Barry's forte.
Lastly, I'll put out Orville, where the bird should be able to handle Nessa's Drednaw. Hopefully.
Well, things did go well at first. Einstein and Barry were abe to handle her first two Pokémon with ease.
And then came the Drednaw. I sent to Orvas planned and immediately realized my mistake. I didn't have a single move that could do very effective damage on this monster.
So guess what I do?? I use max geyser on it. Fine right? Neutral effectiveness and all that. Wrong.
I accidentally boosted it's water moves.
It nearly one-shots Orville and I hav to do some quick thinking took keep him alive. A max guard + super potion are able to stall the monster out of it's Dynamax. I quickly swap into Sora, making her take the incoming water attack before switching to Belladonna.
I thought I couldn't at least get a Screech off to lower its defense before needing to switch out.
But... the Drednaw out sped her and one-shot Belladonna. First (actual) death, to some stupid circumstances I forgot to account for.
I have to keep going though, the fight's not over yet. Luckily, there was a silver lining.
Aftermath, Belladonna's ability.
I struggled against the Drednaw who, despite it not being Dynamaxed nor rain boosted anymore, was still a scary enemy. My first decision was bringing Einstein out to set up light screen to lessee damage output and whittle it down and pray to not get Bite crit.
After awhile pf back and forth I finally get it where I want it, switch to Barry and Body Slam that dumb turtle, securing me the second badge.
It was hard, and definitely not without consequences, but I'm glad that's over.

Forever Mine
Tumblr media
[STORY SOURCE]
I live in one of those small towns with a big community. It feels like everyone knows each other, and parents would visit their friends and leave their kids to mess around with each other. Classes in school weren’t very large.
So when there’s news about a kid dying, it travels at god-speed.
Everyone at school kept talking about the death of this girl who was probably a year behind me.
I didn’t know her personally. I wouldn’t have even been able to tell you her name if everyone wasn’t talking about her.
I didn’t want to pick up gossip about how she died. I decided to attend her funeral myself. Not because we were friends or anything, but I did want to show my respect for this girl and her family.
The local funeral home was within biking range of my house, so I set off.
I sat awkwardly as I noticed her parents. I’m not usually very good at picking up feelings from people, but I could tell that beyond their grief was disappointment and maybe even hostility.
They made me wonder what she was thinking about before she died.
After she was buried, I hung around the cemetery. I’d wished I brought flowers with me, but decided I’d give her some the next time I stopped by.
Around this time, I had been aiming to get a Sky Forme Shaymin, since it was one of my favorite Pokémon back then.
I had caught a wild Shaymin using the "Pokémon Modifier" cheat code. I was terrible at coming up with creative names. But then, I remembered the name of the girl and thought it would suit a Shaymin rather well.
Tumblr media
“Skye.”
Little did I know that this would invite strange things to start happening to my game.
I wanted to keep this Shaymin in its Sky Forme whenever possible, so I planned on keeping it in my team 24/7, only playing during daytime, etc. I was a dirty cheater who liked putting illegal moves on my Pokémon, so I taught Skye to use Fly.
At the time, I didn’t know you needed to catch the Shaymin in Flower Paradise to receive the Gracidea Flower, so when I talked to the blonde girl NPC in Floaroma Town, I had no idea why she wouldn’t give it to me.
So I was stuck with a Shaymin that knew Fly. It was weird, and I never really grew all that attached to it. Eventually I boxed it, forgot I had it, and released it without thinking.
The next time I booted up the game, I got this message.
Tumblr media
“The save file is corrupted. The previous save file will be loaded.”
Tumblr media
My first instinct was panic. I didn’t have any time to think or process the initial message, because all my hours were gone. With nervous anticipation, I started up the save file to see what the damage was.
Tumblr media
To my surprise, I found myself on an incomplete Seabreak Path. The south path to Route 224 was cut off, with a featureless Shaymin staring vacantly over the edge.
Tumblr media
I checked my party, and found none of my team members.
Tumblr media
Only a level 100 Dusknoir with the move Follow Me.
Very useful, I thought. I’d have to boot up my Action Replay to teach this thing Fly in order to get off the island later.
Tumblr media
Checking my items, I noticed everything was gone, save for a single PokéBall and an Escape Rope. Neither of which seemed particularly helpful for getting me off this island.
Out of curiosity though, I decided to see if Shaymin would be at Flower Paradise. I started my trek north, lamenting the loss of my bike.
To my surprise, Shaymin was there, despite never having Oak’s Letter or triggering the cutscene with it. Its face was obstructed by flowers, but it seemed like its pink flowers were missing just like the one I saw before.
I spoke to the Shaymin, and a message appeared.
Tumblr media
“I remember you.”
Tumblr media
“But… You don’t remember me, do you?”
The wild Shaymin attacked, and my heart stopped at its name.
Tumblr media
“Skye appeared!”
Featureless, like before.
I felt a knot in my stomach, not even caring about the game. Something was very clearly wrong with it, and I wanted to stop playing. But I decided I was already taking pictures of the weird stuff that was happening, and I wanted to document it in full.
Steeling my resolve, I went about my options.
Dusknoir only knew Follow Me, so it was useless to weaken the Shaymin.
Tumblr media
Remembering the PokéBall I had, I tossed it at the Shaymin.
Tumblr media
Most people would be ecstatic to catch a Shaymin with full HP in a PokéBall on their first try, but I got the feeling that the game was rigged. There wasn’t any triumphant music playing either, which didn’t help my feelings about it.
I tried checking my newly caught Shaymin, but my game froze upon checking my party.
Upon restarting the system and starting the game up, this message appeared.
Tumblr media
“My heart is corrupted. Please save me.”
Tumblr media
My save file was gone for real this time. The trainer’s name was “SINNER”.
I live in a pretty religious community, so reading this made me ill at ease.
Tumblr media
Starting up the game again, I found myself in the Lost Tower, playing as a featureless Shaymin.
Tumblr media
My only Pokémon was the same Shaymin, named SINNER, knowing Fly, Scary Face, Fake Tears, and Spite.
A text box appeared when I tried to leave the tower.
Tumblr media
“Today’s the day.”
It pushed me back, preventing my exit. The only option I had was to ascend.
No random encounters happened, and all the trainers wouldn’t interact with me.
It went this way until I went to the top floor. I’m pretty sure there isn’t supposed to be a man and woman NPC standing in this spot.
Tumblr media
"There’s nothing left to say.”
Interacting with them just prompted this text.
Tumblr media
It was here that I noticed a staircase that wasn’t supposed to be there.
I found myself on the top of the tower. I stepped into a scripted event, and the Shaymin faced the edge without my prompt.
Tumblr media
"It's a long way down... Are you ready?"
Hoping for some way out of this, I wanted to say “no”, so I could cheat my way out of the tower and get my game back to normal. However, upon selecting it, this text appeared.
Tumblr media
"You've held back for long enough. It's time to go."
Tumblr media
“SINNER used the Escape Rope.”
Tumblr media
A battle started against the same Dusknoir as before. I was intimidated to go against a level 100 Dusknoir, but then I remembered its only move was Follow Me, so it was harmless.
I realized that if I let SINNER faint, I could go to the last Pokémon Center and escape the tower.
I used Spite, thinking that if I reduced Follow Me’s PP, the Dusknoir would use Struggle and OHKO my Shaymin.
Tumblr media
“The wild DUSKNOIR used Follow Me!”
Tumblr media
“SINNER used Spite!”
Tumblr media
“But there was no target...”
Dang it.
Deciding to experiment, I came to the conclusion that there was no harm in screwing around with SINNER’s attacks until DUSKNOIR ran out of PP. I chose Fly.
Tumblr media
“The wild DUSKNOIR used Follow Me!”
Tumblr media
“SINNER used Fly!”
Tumblr media
“The wild DUSKNOIR used Follow Me!”
Tumblr media
“SINNER kept going and crashed!”
Tumblr media
Not the KO I was expecting, but I took it nonetheless.
The game, of course, crashed as soon as my Shaymin’s cry played, leaving nothing but pleasantly ear-grating screeching sounds.
I decided to take a break from playing for a moment to process what I just witnessed. I had a lot to digest.
The only conclusion I came to was that ghosts are real and this was the same Skye as the girl who died. Which would sound insane if I didn’t have the pictures to prove it.
I choked back tears. I was afraid. Why did Skye want me to see this?
I wanted to put the game down and be done with it. But if she had a message to give me, then I felt like I had to see it through to the end.
I guess I vainly hoped she’d pass on and find peace if I listened to what she was trying to say.
Another message when I started the game up again.
Tumblr media
“I can’t fly. I tried to.”
Tumblr media
I found myself at Spear Pillar. The staircase to the Hall of Origin was in front of me.
Tumblr media
My exit was gone, so I just went straight to Arceus.
Tumblr media
A level 100 Arceus stood before me.
Tumblr media
Instead of sending out my Shaymin, it stayed in the field. It was now bleeding. Its status said it was fainted, but it was still able to battle somehow.
I felt cornered. There was no way a level 14 Shaymin could take on something like this. I tried to use Fly, hoping it would give me the same result as before.
Tumblr media
“Can’t use that here.”
It wouldn’t let me use the move. Instead, I just outright try to flee.
Tumblr media
“Can’t escape!”
Tumblr media
“ARCEUS used Judgment!”
I braced for impact...
Tumblr media
“The wild ARCEUS’s attack missed!”
...But was pleasantly surprised to see it miss.
Tumblr media
“I’m not ready yet.”
The game made me flee automatically.
The screen faded to black.
Tumblr media
“I’m not ready. I’m not ready.”
Tumblr media
“I’m scared.”
Tumblr media
When the screen faded back to the overworld, I found myself in the Distortion World. The portal that takes you back to the main world was gone, so the only thing I could do was explore.
Tumblr media
I found another Escape Rope while looking around.
It was the only thing noteworthy I could find, so I started trying to think of ways to get out of here.
Tumblr media
I tried using Fly, since SINNER still knew it.
Tumblr media
“There’s nowhere to fly to.”
Figures.
Tumblr media
Trying to test my other options, I went to my bag and tried using the Escape Rope.
Of course, the “There’s a time and place for everything” message still appeared.
Tumblr media
Deciding to mess around until I got results, I went to give the Escape Rope to SINNER.
“Don’t suppose you know what to do with this?” I muttered.
The game crashed again, and it assaulted my eardrums once more. I sharply inhaled, wondering if I touched a nerve.
I took a deep breath and started the game again.
Tumblr media
My character’s name was now Skye.
I started in Floaroma Town. The first thing I did was rush to the Pokémon Center to check on my Pokémon in the PC. Of course, they were all gone.
I’d grieve for them later, though. Maybe Skye would be nice to me and give them back.
While I was in the center, I figured it might’ve been good to heal the faint status off of the Shaymin.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sure it is. Glad you can tell when something is suffering, nurse.
Heading outside, I talked to the blonde NPC.
Tumblr media
“You should always give flowers to someone who has passed away.”
Tumblr media
“It’s rude not to.”
Tumblr media
“You got the Gracidea!”
I was suddenly feeling very guilty for not leaving flowers before.
Wondering if I could fix the poor Shaymin in my party if I used the flower on her, I went to try it.
Tumblr media
“It won’t have any effect.”
Of course not.
The blonde NPC turned into my Shaymin. I spoke to her.
Tumblr media
“That won’t help me.”
Yeah, I thought not.
At a loss of ideas on what to do next, I absentmindedly made my way to Valley Windworks and walked around in the grass.
Tumblr media
A wild Sky Forme Shaymin appeared.
I sent out Skye, of course.
I chose the fight option, and the battle continued without me selecting a move.
Tumblr media
“The wild SHAYMIN used Reflect!”
Tumblr media
“Skye’s rage is building!”
Tumblr media
“Skye used Cut!”
Tumblr media
“She hurt herself in her confusion!”
Tumblr media
The Sky Form Shaymin was knocked out in one hit, despite the game telling me Skye had hurt herself.
Tumblr media
Back on the overworld, I found the mangled parts of the Sky Forme Shaymin lying in the grass. I inspected them.
Tumblr media
“Please put me back together.”
It gave me another prompt, and I chose yes.
The screen faded to black.
Tumblr media
And then Skye appeared again in a black abyss, with Skymin ears and flower. My trainer was nowhere to be seen.
Tumblr media
I checked my party to see that Skye had changed again. Her cry sounded like a distorted mix of Shaymin’s two forms.
I went back to the overworld and was unable to move. Instead, a dialogue box appeared.
Tumblr media
“Can you hear me?”
Tumblr media
"Thank you for caring about me.”
Tumblr media
"I can fly now.”
Tumblr media
“Because...”
Tumblr media
“I love you.”
My heart skipped a beat. My hands began to shake.
Tumblr media
“You must care about me too, right?”
Tumblr media
“So... I’m going to stay with you.”
Tumblr media
“I won’t leave, not without someone who loves me.”
Tumblr media
“Will you fly away with me?”
My shaky hands went to say no. I didn’t want to be like her.
Tumblr media
"...”
Tumblr media
“I’ll wait for you.”
Tumblr media
“I’ll change your mind.”
Tumblr media
“You’re mine now.”
Tumblr media
“You’re mine forever.”
With that last line, the game froze.
The first thing I did was take the game out of the system. I decided to drop off all my Pokémon games at the nearest GameStop. I didn’t want her talking to me anymore.
So why do I feel like she’s still here?

TWST OC Week Day 7: AU
Tumblr media
BEFORE WE BEGIN:
For the last day of TWST OC Week, I picked AU and after some brainstorming, I decided to pick a Pokémon AU.
Or rather, a Pokémon crossover AU where Yuu (Rei) comes from the Pokémon universe instead.
This was a personal AU I had in mind for some while but placed on a backburner since I wanted to focus on the main fic first.
But with TWST OC Week, I thought it’s a good chance to revisit the AU again.
Without further ado, here we go!
I’m glad to be doing this event and it’s been fun!
Yuu doesn’t know what to expect when a seemingly mutated, talking, Shiny Zorua threatened to burn her if she didn’t hand over her clothes.
She only realized that she wore a whole robe and new attire, but internally panicked when her bag wasn't around, nor the fact that she has no Pokéball at hand.
So she had to trap the unknown monster back in the coffin she initially awoke to before escaping.
By luck, she met a petite, but older than he seemed student who healed her burns but the monster chased after her before being stopped by a man who claimed to be the Headmaster of this strange academy she was brought to.
“Ah, I found this bag and belt with peculiar looking metallic balls attached to it earlier, they must be yours, yes?”
The Headmaster waved his hand to show her belt with six Pokéballs intact and sling bag.
She hastily took the items and thanked the man. “Thank you sir... it seems my things were separated from me when that monster attacked me.”
“Attacked?”
He turned to the monster and frowned. “So it comes down to the fault of your Familiar.”
What, he’s not-
The headmaster didn’t listen, but the boy...student, with her, Lilia, listened and they talked along the way.
Checking the things inside her bag and her Party on hand as they did so.
________________________________________________________________
The mutated talking Zorua burned the whole room just shortly after the talking magical mirror declared that she had no magic.
The experiences and senses she honed as a trainer being the saving grace that lets her avoid the flames.
As the whole room set into a panic, she took a Pokéball that held her longtime friend, family, and partner.
Gazing at the ball for a moment, she murmured.
“Let’s go, partner. You ready?”
The Pokémon inside it nodded at her with a resolute gaze.
With a nod, she threw the Pokéball to the air.
“Gabriel! Sparkling Aria!”
Her long trusted Primarina landed gracefully on the ground and sang, large water bubbles formed all around them, appearing out from the air and the bubbles burst.
Water spreads all over and extinguishes the flames that appeared.
“Fnah!? My flames!” The mutated Zorua exclaimed but she paid no heed to what was going on behind or around her.
She’s only focused on seeing the flames gone and snuffed out.
In spite of the chaotic situation she found herself into, she’s glad that she’s not alone.
________________________________________________________________
Gabriel made quick work on the flames and the flames are gone by seconds.
The mutated Zorua was caught and she observed a red-haired student chant. “Off With Your Head!”
A large lock shaped collar was magically put in place at the monster.
After some words were exchanged, the boy turned to her. “This is your familiar, is it not?”
The Headmaster chimed in. “Yes! Do something about him! This is your familiar is it-”
Water was blasted on his face before the man could finish.
Turning to her furious partner, she chided. “Hey! I know you’re offended that he assumed that the mutated Zorua who threatened me to go naked is part of the team but you can’t just shoot a Water Gun at anybody!”
“Eh...? He isn’t yours?” The man repeated.
“Gabriel wouldn’t have been offended enough to blast water on your face otherwise.”
“I, I see...” The man looked at her Primarina, who only gave him an angry look in return, readying another blast of water.
“Come on Gab, calm down.” She held and stroked her partner’s hair.
“Pardon me,” The red haired boy called for her, “... you said he threatened you to what?” The red haired boy questioned.
“I woke up from the coffin because that monster,” She pointed to it, “burned the coffin, and then told me to strip naked from these clothes or he’ll burn me to death.”
Silence followed.
“...If that’s the case,” A lavender haired student with the red haired boy spoke. “it’s no wonder your partner is upset enough to attack the headmaster for his wrong assumption.”
She nodded at him. “Gabriel’s my longtime partner, I’d never replace Gabriel over some mutated talking Zorua.”
“Mutated what?”
“A Zorua.” She spoke. She had some suspicion about what kind of world she got brought into but she had to ask. “Do you not have Pokémon here?”
“...What’s a Pokémon?”
Oh boy.
________________________________________________________________
With the monster who called himself as Grim sent away, her status as coming from another world where, in their words, people tame magical monsters on a daily basis, being open news to the students present, but unable to return back to where she once came from, the Headmaster lets her stay around as he finds a way to bring her back to her original world, added onto his own surprise that she is a girl, and that the academy is actually an all-boys school.
She isn’t too worried about being trapped here for the while.
If anything, once the news of her going missing goes around, the Ultra Recon Squad and those from Aether Foundation would likely go and find her via the Ultra Wormhole.
They would have gotten in touch with Selene too by then.
Meanwhile, she was brought to an unused dorm that was planned to be repurposed on a later date.
She is now looking at her PC Box via the Portable PC, a new technology from Galar that lets you open your PC anywhere and anytime that is just recently applied in Sinnoh PC’s.
Speaking of Sinnoh... she was last walking around Route 214 back home, wasn’t she?
How did she get here-
Gabriel’s nudging brought her out of her thoughts.
“...Yeah, we should make the best of things for the time being.” She nodded.
At least the Pokémon in her PC Box are safe and the PC can still be used, even in another world.
Though she had to think of how she can manage to bring some of her Pokémon out and not get them stuck in the PC Box for too long.
She got enough berries, over a hundred, she last counted, obtained from renovating her Poké Pelago for years, so food for her Pokémon and her own person wouldn’t be a problem.
She knows the basic housework and the like at least, and can cook things decently.
She also got enough clothes, be it undergarments and others.
But first…
“We got a lot to clean up, don’t we?”
Gabriel nodded at her.
Time to get started.
________________________________________________________________
She would have gotten started if not for the monster she mistook as a mutated Shiny Zorua sneaking back in, only behaving once she threatened to have Gabriel shoot water at him if he didn’t, and dealing with the resident ghosts who were bothering her, thinking she’d be easy to play around with if it weren’t for Gabriel being way powerful for the ghosts to handle.
She had to convince the Headmaster to let the monster, Grim, stay if not for the fact that he’d do more harm if he is kicked out again.
“Ah, speaking of, would you like to register Grim-kun together with you as a student?”
“...What?”
The Headmaster explained. “We have some cases where students register as a 2-in-1 student due to circumstances. Considering that of yours and Grim-kun’s desire to enter the school, wouldn’t it have worked out?”
“...No, I’d rather register with Gabriel and my Pokémon than to register together with Grim.”
“Fnah!? Why!?”
She shook her head and reasoned, staring at the Headmaster. “You’re implying as if you want to replace my longtime friend, partner and family over a stranger. I refuse to have my partners be replaced by anybody.”
She looked down at Grim next. “And honestly, you still need a lot of work to do and understand what’s appropriate and inappropriate for people. Telling people to strip naked and burn them if things don’t go your way is not it.”
“...That’s true.” The Headmaster agreed.
“...I shall register you and… who would be your main partner?”
“Gabriel.” She spoke without hesitation.
“Alright, Gabriel-kun and Yuu-san. You two will be students from tomorrow on, while Grim-kun will be on probation until he is deemed ready to be a student.”
She nodded.
Sounds good to her.

“So you’re choosing Popplio, young Yuu?”
Yuu nodded at Hala.
She is only twelve this year.
Her parents advised her to move with her cousins to Hau’Oli city, Alola, from Sinnoh last year and she still needs some time to get used to Alola weather.
It’s too hot, and she personally missed the cold, chilly air of Sinnoh.
Then her uncle suggested she try and take the island challenge and see if she can dethrone the first ever champion of Alola, Selene, who took charge three years ago.
With little to do beyond hanging around Iki Town and wandering around Hau’Oli, with her cousins off to their own adventures, she decided she might as well take it.
The Popplio clapped in glee and hopped towards her.
She held her first… rather, second, Pokémon, smiling. “Nice to meet you, Gabriel.”
Popplio welcomed the nickname with a cheerful bark. Followed by another cry of triumph.
Gabriel stared at the newcomer.
She noticed it’s gaze and introduced Gabriel to her technically first Pokémon she befriended.
“Oh, this stardust looking little guy? The name’s Aster. Aster’s not really someone I want to use in battles since Aster doesn’t seem like the kind to like fights right now, but Aster’s a friend.”
Aster the Cosmog smiled at Gabriel, excited at the thought of having a new friend.

With things in order the pair moved out of the barn, into the cold breeze that began to pick up through the morning. Val tagged along by peach’s side as per usual. They wound their way towards Greys home from home, a water type area, and the treatment plant for the drinking water on the island. You could just make it out down the road.
“don’t feel like you have to take them, but I suppose it saves us finding another place to rehome him...”
She shrugged as they walked, enjoying the view of the island. “I know. But it still won’t hurt getting to know the little one. You never know! We might just hit it off.”
Peach knew the Pokemon pretty well, and quite frankly it was difficult not to love him. They came to a halt outside the water treatment building, inside you could see Professor grey talking to a visiting trainer, busy with work.
“‘let’s try the side door.” The woman waved to Devra to follow her, round the side to a slightly overgrown entrance. You had to step on thorny vines and dodge nettles as you went but it was otherwise easy to get to.
Devra carefully stepped over the thorns as best she could, trying to keep from getting scratched. “I didn’t even know there was a side door. Guys you guys don’t use it too often with all the brambles.”
“‘we put it in for busy days, and it counts as a fire exit, though I’ll have to come back to clear the area a bit, this isn’t up to code.” She was annoyed it had slipped her off her plate, but she would get it fixed quickly. The growth was only one seasons worth, so nothing unmanageable. “‘I guess with grey using the big double doors, most of the time we don’t have to slink around the side.
The room beyond the door was a little small, it looked like a break room come kitchen, with a slender staircase up to one side, and a door at the back that from the layout you could tell lead into the main room with the pool and big doors at each end. Peach began to climb the staircase, coming up to a reasonably long space, a few plants, a desk, some chairs, and a large sleeping houndoom, monitoring several puppy Pokemon. Two growlithe, one darker in colour, a lillipup with a bright blue bow, a couple of poochyena, one striped a little at its legs, an electrike, and a Pokemon not a lot of trainers would have seen before. It’s body was stocky like a houdour, with the bright cream mane and fur of growlithe, a sweet looking hybrid of a momma arcanine, and the houndoom dad that guarded them all, one of Professor Greys older team mates, and a part of the household in the evenings. Peach gave a whistle and the lot came over to say hello.
Devra gasped excitedly when she saw the pack of puppy Pokémon. She knelt down right away and was soon swarmed by the little ones. She never got tired of dog Pokémon, being one of her favorite group of Pokémon for their use in herding. “Oh my gosh look at all of you!” She gave everyone attention in turn, then came to the hybrid. “Is this who you wanted me to see?” She squished her own cheeks as see looked the pup over. “He’s adorable!”
The messy ball of cream and black fur was a people Pokemon, he saw his chance to be adored and took it, jumping into Devra’s lap with a very playful expression.
“eeeeyup, he’s the runt of our last litter, a real character though, even if he is a little small at the moment. You can look after him leading up to the trip if you like, get to know him a bit. You two might like to travel together during the Tundra trip.”
Devra busied herself ruffling his fur and smushing his face as Peach talked. “Oh my gosh I’d love to get to know him! Just look at this sweet boy!” She looked up at the Professor as she pressed her cheek to the pup’s. “Does he have a name?”
He was lapping up the attention, some of the other Pokemon joining in with play. The older houndoom sat beside Peach overseeing the little ones, keeping them from getting out of hand with little huffs and looks.
“nope, he’s not got a name yet, we never got round to picking one.”
She flopped back onto the floor, always ready to be swarmed by puppies. “Well we’ll just have to fix that. Every big strong Pokémon needs a good name. Makes me feel special. Isn’t that right big guy?” She ruffled his cheek fur as she was licked in the ear by the lillipup.
“‘maybe time together will present you with an adequate name, there’s no rush to find one for him, can change them whenever you like now days.” The pups swarmed then dispatched to play with toys, leaving the hybrid behind with Devra where she sat.
Devra laughed as they went off, giving the little guy a good chin scratch. “I love him Peach. Will Grey be okay with me watching him?” She looked over at the houndoom and smiled. “I hope dad is okay with it too.”
“he was up here with the others because these lot were lol going to be potentially rehomed tomorrow. If you take him, it won’t make much difference, no one had a reserve or anything on the little guy. And as for dad?” She looked to the big guy who was quite old now, had had many pups, and was quite happy to see them go, he liked his peace and quiet when not out with his trainer. “‘Nah, this ones good, he’s Grey’s loyal bud, he doesn’t have a lot of time for child rearing most of the time, he’s only really here because he’s a good child minder.” The woman laughed a bit, that old fleabag of a houndoom was always lolloping around the house, making an excellent door stop or foot rest.
“we trust you’ll look after them, there’s not too much between them and growlithe, so you should be just fine care wise.”
Devra grinned as she hugged the little guy tight. She then got up and went over to the houndoom, kneeling down to be on eye level with him. “I promise I’ll take good care of your pup.” She then got up and turned to the little one, opening her arms and calling him over. He barked happily and leapt into her arms. She had a few more words with Peach before making her way back to her little world on the island.

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Seekers of Soul
Chapter 13 (23 Pages)
<< First | < Previous | Next >
Nia and Tobias travel to Afon’s Cap in search of the former human, Hazel.
-
For the first time in two weeks, Nia wakes up before Tobias does.
She’s confused when she realizes it, blinking bleary eyes at Tobias’ tail flame, his curled form fast asleep. She assumes that it must be the middle of the night, but when she rolls over and tries to go back to sleep, she finds that she can’t. She’s meeting Hazel today, after all! Excited nerves thrum under her skin like first-day-of-school jitters. How can she go back to sleep when she’s meeting another human who was turned into a Pokemon? Someone who understands exactly what she’s going through, who can tell her about how she adapted to the strangeness of the Pokemon world.
Giving up on sleep, Nia sits up. She considers reading one of the books she has checked out, but is stopped by a quiet rustling coming from the main room where Maggie sleeps. Nia frowns and pokes her head out of their little alcove, surprised to see Maggie’s out of her nest, stretching. The meganium stops as soon as she sees Nia.
“Oh! Sorry dear, I assumed you two would be gone by now.”
Nia’s heart drops as she glances at one of the small openings in the wall, noting the pale gray light of early morning. It’s past dawn? But Tobias is still asleep! Since the day Nia arrived in the Pokémon world, the charmander had woken up at the crack of dawn almost without fail. Maybe it had something to do with him being a fire type, but his internal clock seemed stubbornly tuned in to go off when the sun rose. And yet today of all days, when she’s planning to go to Afon’s Cap, he’s miraculously asleep later than usual?
Funny how that works.
An unfamiliar wave of anger rises up in the riolu’s chest, hot and choking, and she turns to glare at the still-sleeping Pokemon. He could just be exhausted, sure, but after how many times he’s made it clear he doesn’t care about finding Hazel? She doesn’t trust it. But Nia needs him to lead her to Afon’s Cap, so she kneels at Tobias’ side and roughly shakes his arm. He grumbles and bats her hand away.
“If you don’t get up, I’m leaving for Afon’s Cap without you,” she says, only half-bluffing. She still doesn’t know exactly why he’d decided to come along in the first place, but hopes that whatever reasoning he has is strong enough to get him moving. She doesn’t think she’ll be able to follow a map well enough on her own—and honestly, she just doesn’t wants to make the journey alone. Tobias is poor company, but at least he is company.
Seeing no response from the charmander, Nia shakes her head, grabs their satchel, and moves into the main area to make sure everything is packed. Maggie is busy removing the leaf shades from the crystals to brighten the room, but shoots her a questioning look.
Nia doesn’t think she has the willpower to avoid snapping her explanation (which is the last thing she’d want to do to poor Maggie), so she just huffs and continues organizing their supplies. They aren’t going into a dungeon or anything, but Xander and Andyn had said to be well-stocked for long trips, just in case. So she counts their seeds and berries and apples, carefully tucks away their badges, and looks into the little sack of coins she earned from missions. It’s not a lot according to Tobias, but it’s something. She carefully folds up the map of the area loaned to her by Xander’s team (more specifically Felix, who’d offered it up with an easy smile and another wink).
Nia reaches a soft piece of cloth last: her scarlet attack scarf. For a moment, she considers finally putting it on. Then she thinks of Tobias, sleeping away the one time she really asks something of him, and she’s overcome by anger all over again. Growling under her breath, Nia stuffs it back into the bag.
“Guess I’m going on my own, Maggie,” Nia sighs, standing and slinging the pack over her shoulder. She turns around to see Maggie’s back to her, long neck ducking into the alcove.
Tobias’ voice speaks up, sleepy and muffled. “Maggie? What’re you—hey!”
Maggie backs up, Tobias held in one of her vines like a flailing kitten. She drops him to the ground.
“You said you would take Nia to Afon’s Cap,” Maggie reminds him, hard tone stopping Tobias’ ranting. The charmander, still blinking sleep from his eyes, frowns up at her, then looks over at Nia.
For a moment, Nia wonders if maybe he really did just oversleep, but there’s no dawning recognition on his face. He just snorts and looks away. “I know that. You didn’t have to wake me up so early for it.”
“You’re always up early! Why should today be any different?” Nia snaps.
Tobias actually jumps, head swinging around to stare at her as if she’s grown a second head. Nia immediately feels guilty for her outburst and softens her tone. “You said it was a long walk, right? We need to leave early then.”
Tobias still seems thrown off—whether from being literally picked up out of his bed or from being snapped at by Nia—because he just looks away and mumbles, “Yeah, I guess.”
“Well, I’m ready to go, so...”
Tobias shrugs. “So ‘m I.”
“Right.” Nia nods, trying to sound confident and failing miserably. Her gaze flicks to Maggie.
The meganium simply smiles, all encouragement and warmth, and nudges Tobias forward with a vine. “Go on, then. You two have a long trip ahead of you. You have snacks packed, right?”
Nia nods, smiling gratefully. She meets Tobias’ grumpy gaze before turning and marching out of the room. It feels...weird. Usually Tobias leads them on all of their missions, but he clearly wants no part of this trip, so instead Nia sets a brisk pace through the medical ward, ears picking up the dragging footsteps of the half-asleep charmander behind her. She only hesitates once on directions, and they make it down to the bottom floor without taking a wrong turn, thank God.
If only it wasn’t so uncomfortably silent between them.
Nia hesitates at the many tunnel openings, and Tobias grunts before setting off down one. Hopefully the one that leads them most quickly to Afon’s Cap. In the muted quiet of the tunnels, their footsteps seem unnaturally loud. Nia fidgets with the satchel strap, eyeing Tobias’ back.
She has long since given up on friendly conversation with him, reaching the end of her patience after days of being snubbed and snapped at every time she opened her mouth. Instead of making Tobias happier, though, her silence almost seemed to put the charmander more on edge than ever. If that was even possible. Their last few missions have been filled with suffocating silence, only interrupted by the occasional tense comment.
Maybe the two of them just aren’t meant to work out as a Seeker team. He’s just so...bitter. And she doesn’t know how to fix that.
“You brought my money, right?” Tobias asks. Nia jumps.
“Y-Yeah.”
And back to silence. They reach the end of the tunnel and find an unfamiliar Pokémon waiting there to take them to the surface. Nia was kind of hoping it would be the hippo they’d met on her first trip into the guild.
Instead, the Pokémon that nods at them seems to be some type of...mole? He’s twice as big as her and Tobias, dark brown with red stripes and what look like sharp, drill-like bits as his claws, as well as one “drill” sitting on his head like a helmet. Nia will never get used to Pokemon biology.
“Going up?” The Pokemon rasps, voice deep. Tobias nods, and the mole gestures for them to step closer to his side. When they do, he slams his claws down into the dirt, and the slab of ground beneath them shoots up. Nia tries to keep her eyes squinted open this time, curious even as her stomach flips. It’s dark, but she thinks the earth seems to cave and mold around their group as if they were surrounded by a bubble, moving up to the surface. It’s incredible.
They emerge into chilly dawn air, and Nia immediately relaxes, taking a deep breath. Looks like they’re under the same overhang they’d met the hippo in. Tobias hops out into the forest, and Nia gives the mole a smile and a quiet word of thanks before following. Tobias doesn’t wait for her, immediately setting a course through ferns and dewy undergrowth. Nia follows, pushing aside leaves and shivering as the drops soak into her fur. Tobias’ skin is steaming ever so slightly.
The forest is relatively calm this early in the morning, but the world slowly wakes up around them. As the sun starts to climb into the sky, Pokémon around them begin their days. The riolu catches sight of a particularly beautiful butterfly Pokémon that she notes to find the name of later.
The sounds of Pokémon talking and moving about the forest becomes a comforting background noise. The blatant silence between Nia and Tobias suddenly doesn’t seem as noticeable, and the riolu finds herself relaxing as they continue their walk. Maybe today won’t be so bad after all.
__________________________________________________
The two of them walk for hours through dense forest, occasionally crossing open fields and rocky gullies. At one point they have to cross a low stream, and Tobias cautiously jumps from rock to rock to avoid touching the water. Nia stifles a laugh and, after a moment of consideration, decides to wade through the cool water. Tobias carefully keeps his distance from her, making Nia roll her eyes. She’d read about how dangerous water could be to fire types, especially those with open flames on their bodies. Of course she wasn’t going to try and get him wet.
When she emerges on the other side, fur heavy with water, her body seems to react before her mind. She manages to check that Tobias is out of the splash zone, and then she shakes like a dog, water flying everywhere. It makes her a bit dizzy, and she blinks, surprised by her own action.
Tobias doesn’t seem to think anything of it, just visibly relaxing when his feet touch the grass again. Nia supposes she shouldn’t be too surprised—her body has its own instincts now. Her ears and tail broadcast her emotions, and she periodically finds herself smoothing the fur on her arms or legs absentmindedly. That should probably bother her more than it does.
They stop shortly after that to eat lunch. The sun is high overhead and it’s incredibly warm, so it’s probably around noon. They pick a small clearing in the woods with some boulders to settle down on, pulling out the snacks she’d packed the night before. A few berries, something baked that tastes a lot like a veggie pizza, and a mash of oats and nuts. Pretty tasty spread from the cafeteria.
“So how long until we reach Afon’s Cap?” Nia asks through a mouthful of oran berry. She’s busy spreading out the map of the area, tracing her claw from the center mark of the guild to the east, where Afon’s Cap is visible on the map. The title is written above what looks to be a large lake with a river running east, towards an ocean. She definitely wants to see that someday. She doesn’t thinks she’s ever been to the sea.
Tobias leans over and frowns at the map, finishing his mash. He points at an area just west of Afon’s Cap. “We should be here. Maybe an hour’s walk yet.”
Nia grins. “We’re so close!”
Tobias doesn’t answer, going back to his food, clearly not sharing her enthusiasm.
“So Maggie said there are shops and stuff there, right? That it’s primarily a merchant area and travelers’ crossroads?”
“Mhm.”
“What’s it like?” Nia asks. He seems too familiar with the area to have not been there before. “Pretty busy, I’m guessing?”
“You’ll see it yourself soon,” Tobias growls.
“Well...Yeah, I know, but...”
Tobias doesn’t answer, so Nia just sighs, going back to her meal and their usual silence with a heavy heart. It’d been such a nice day in the woods that she’d almost forgotten who she was traveling with.
Tobias finishes his meal first, and stretches out on the sunbaked stone to enjoy its warmth while Nia eats her berries. She’s excited to meet Hadley’s old friend, for sure, but anxiety blooms in her belly as they get closer. What should she even ask the other human-turned-Pokemon? How does she even bring up that she’s in the same boat? The riolu wishes she could talk with Tobias about it, but she knows better by now.
When Nia’s finished, they head off again without a word between them.
__________________________________________________
It’s maybe another hour of walking when Nia registers the landscape changing around them. It’s not too drastic, but the dry, yellowed forest becomes slightly more...lush. Even a bit swampy, in spots. They are closer to the sea, and they’ve passed more tiny creeks than Nia’s seen in the forest closer to the guild....so they must be getting close to the port. The nervous butterflies in her stomach act up again at the thought.
Sure enough, only a short bit later Nia can see open sky through the thinning trees, can hear something...roaring. A steady rumble of noise. And under that, the distant chatter of voices and movement. The two of them emerge from the treeline, and Nia’s breath catches at the sight of Afon’s Cap below them.
The ground at their feet drops off steeply into the valley before them, and there’s a lake so wide Nia can barely see the edges of it. It’s large enough for it to have waves, clear water rippling and flashing in the sun between a dappling coat of lush green lily pads. It trails off into the horizon, where it likely drains into the river and onward into the sea. To their left, the source of the roaring becomes clear. From the rocky cliffside of the valley walls, a giant, powerful waterfall flows from an underground channel.
But even the beauty of the waterways, framed by expansive woodland and open blue sky, is nothing compared to the life brought to the area by the little town itself. It’s clearly a port, with docking areas and small boats bobbing peacefully where they’re anchored. A scaffolding-like structure of wooden walkways, stairs and tall, stilt-like supports create a boardwalk of small, bright buildings flush against the rocky sides of the valley itself.
And there are Pokémon everywhere! Sure, the guild has a huge number of Pokémon moving throughout it every day, but something about this area is noticeably different, even from a distance. Unlike the organized groupings at the guild, centered around business and exploration, these Pokémon seem like, well...normal people. A crowd.
Merchants travel by one another, pausing to exchange goods from their giant packs, travelers and civilians alike buy and sell, and children chase each other through the walkways, laughing and playing games. Nia catches sight of two bright yellow mouse Pokémon shrieking happily as they weave through the crowd with practiced ease.
Linens hang on clotheslines to dry, small herb and flower baskets sit outside of the tiny wooden huts, shops are labeled by wooden signs detailing their wares, and the scent of heavenly baked goods reaches Nia’s nose. And is that the distant lilt of...music she hears somewhere?
“This is incredible!” Nia breathes, sure that she’s slack-jawed right now and that Tobias is judging her. She doesn’t even care.
Tobias grunts and moves to take the wooden stairs down the side of the valley wall so they can reach one of the bridges leading to the town. Nia hurries to follow him, almost slipping when she’s unable to take her eyes off the lively port. They make it to the bottom after a minute or two, stepping onto the wooden bridgework. It’s warm and sturdy under Nia’s feet.
“So are there like...Pokémon carpenters? Construction workers who build places like these?” She asks. A gorgeous white and red goldfish Pokémon is swimming under the surface of the water nearby, flickering into view between patches of huge lily pads, and it glides under their bridge to follow a blue Pokemon moving too fast for Nia to properly see. Makes sense that lots of water types would flock to this town.
“Duh,” Tobias mumbles, eyeing the water Pokémon as well with a cagey look. “How else would we build things?”
Well, true. The Lexym Guild’s tree is a bit of a different matter, but she’s seen Hadley’s hut and a few other locals homes, all built with a sturdy wooden construction. Still, Nia can’t even find it in herself to be irritated by Tobias’ condescending tone. This place is just so beautiful! It’s breezy and the air smells so nice. She watches as a water type Pokemon slips into the lake from one of the docks, swimming towards the cliffside where a shallow cave is carved into the surface before diving deeper and out of sight. For the first time, Nia notices a couple of small wooden signs jutting up from the water.
Nia gasps and darts to the edge of the bridge, tip-toeing at the railing to stare at the sign. She tries to peer between the lily pads, but can’t really see much from her perspective. “Oh my gosh, no! Are there underwater shops?! That’s so cool! Look at this!”
“I’m good back here,” Tobias grumbles. Nia glances at him over her shoulder but gets distracted by the fact that her own tail is, uh...wagging? Whoa. It slows to a stop with her confusion, but before she can think about it too deeply Tobias speaks up.
“C’mon already. The sooner we get this over with the sooner we can get some food and find a place to stay.”
Nia perks up despite the charmander’s lack of enthusiasm, bouncing back over to him. As they move along the bridge, Nia trails her paw along the wooden railing, happily peering down into the waves and watching the lily pads rock like flat green boats. Something flickers in the water—or in the reflection of it? It’s just a quick flash, huge and dark and almost snake-like, but when Nia blinks it’s gone again. She peers up into the open sky, squinting when she only sees bird Pokémon flying around. Huh.
They continue to the nearest stairway leading up to the open upper level, passing a few groups of Pokémon on the way. Nia’s quick, excited steps pass by Tobias, and she takes the lead as they climb.
“So how’re you gonna find this Pokemon anyways?”
Nia hums, looking around excitedly. “I was thinking we could probably just ask around, right? If she lives here, then surely some of the other residents know her! Being a former human seems to garner a lot of attention.”
“August told you to be careful about broadcasting that you’re a human,” Tobias objects.
Nia falters. “O-Oh. Right. Well...he did say that the area around the Haven is usually pretty safe, right? And I don’t have to tell anyone that I’m a human. Just that I’m looking for one named Hazel.”
Tobias grumbles, but doesn’t argue her plan anymore. “That could still take forever.”
Okay, that comment finally gets under her skin. Can’t he just let her enjoy this?
“Won’t take long if we stop talking and start looking,” She chirps, sickly sweet. The charmander huffs in response.
Then they’re on the main level of the wooden boardwalk. The crowd around them is almost daunting, with so many Pokémon laughing and talking and haggling with one another. Plus, so many of them are huge compared to her and Tobias! A giant fuschia centipede Pokemon walks by them and she swears she can feel their short footsteps shaking the wood under her feet.
Nia frowns, perking her ears and looking one way and then the other. Where to even start?
“We’ll cover more ground if we split up,” Tobias points out.
“Oh.” Nia blinks at him. He’s technically right, and she knows he didn’t really want to come along in the first place, but...it’d still be nice to have a familiar face around in such a new area.
Relenting, Nia nods. “Wanna take left or right?”
Tobias glances both ways before choosing to go left, towards the distant sound of music. “I’ll start on this side. Toss me my money.”
Nia does, but then stops him as he starts to walk off. “Wait! How’re we gonna find each other later?”
Tobias shrugs. “I’m sure we’ll run into each other if we just look.”
Nia doesn’t really have a better solution, so she hesitantly nods. Tobias turns and vanishes into the crowd. Well. Looks like she’s going this alone. Something in her chest sinks, but she tells herself she should really be used to this by now.
Nia takes a deep breath, looking around. It’s hard to see anything with the crowd of Pokémon towering over her, so her best bet would probably be to just skirt the inside of the walkway curving around the valley, near the shops and houses. That’s where she needs to be asking around, anyways. Even if a very large part of her wants to go over to the nearby crowd and watch what looks like a small roadside magic show.
Nia steels her resolve and lets the lively atmosphere of the town wash over her as she weaves between Pokémon and over to the shops and houses lining the cliff face. They’re impressively built, if a bit rustic. Colorful and wooden, with impressively stable architecture. Carved signs hang from hooks in doorways, and most of the front doors sit wide open to invite visitors and customers inside.
Nia spots a shop bursting at the seams with flowers, and peeks into the open front door to find what looks to be, unsurprisingly, a flower shop. Some are live and arranged in beautiful bouquets, some are dried and coated in a sort of plaster to preserve them, and some are pressed between books or decorating other trinkets. Nia resists the urge to run a gentle finger over the petals and wanders through the shop, wide-eyed.
“Can I help you, Riolu?”
Nia jumps, turning to find a round yellow duck Pokemon approaching her with a polite demeanor. She’s small, not too much taller than Nia herself, with a wide beak and a small tuft of hair atop her head.
“U-Um, yes. I actually had a question about this town. I’m trying to find a Pokémon named Hazel? Former human? She lives here.”
Nia is relieved when the duck Pokémon doesn’t react negatively, just humming a thoughtful noise as her gaze trails up to the ceiling. “I don’t know of any Hazels living in Afon’s Cap. And certainly none who claim to be a former human.”
The shopkeeper must see the way Nia slumps at the news, because she offers a sympathetic smile and adds, “Why don’t you ask around the other shops? Maybe it’s just slipping my mind.”
Nia nods, trying to look grateful and not massively disappointed, and thanks the duck before heading out the door. A flash of yellow slips under her feet, and Nia trips forward with a yelp.
“Oh! Sorry!” A high, childish voice says.
“You okay?” A second chimes.
Nia rolls over, surprised to see the two tiny yellow rodent Pokémon that had caught her eye earlier. They both look more curious than concerned, peering at her with wide blue eyes and twitching angular ears tipped in black. They have rosy pink circles on their cheeks, like blush marks. They’re so cute Nia thinks she might explode on the spot. They kind of remind her of the shinx kids, except younger.
The children exchange a look, and Nia hurries to sit up. “Y-Yeah, I’m fine! Sorry for tripping over you. Are you two okay?”
The kids nod enthusiastically, suddenly all smiles again.
“We were playing chase, but we forgot to stay away from the doorways.”
“Nana always tells us to stay outta Pokemons’ way so we don’t get stepped on.”
Nia nods understandingly. “Having a little too much fun, huh?”
One of them giggles, cheeks sparking. “Yeah!”
“You’re nice,” the other one notes, staring up at her. “Sometimes the grown-ups don’t want to talk to us or, or they get mad when we play near them.”
Nia smiles, feeling her chest ache with longing and fill with warmth all at once. She really likes kids. Was she close to some in her human life? “Nah, I get it. You two seem pretty cool to me.”
At that, they both grin. One of them spins, taps the other, and then takes off into the crowd. “Tag! You’re it, Theo!”
“Hey!” Theo bolts after his friend (brother, maybe?), and Nia watches them go, wincing with concern as they scamper under more gigantic, heavy Pokémon. She wishes they’d be more careful.
Shaking her head and noting her uplifted mood, Nia straightens her satchel. Right! She can’t give up after checking just one shop. This place is huge! Surely someone knows who Hazel is, right? There can’t be that many former humans floating around!
__________________________________________________
There isn’t a single Pokémon named Hazel living in Afon’s Cap. The sun is wheeling much lower in the sky than when Nia had first started searching, and she’s just about ready to give up. Sitting under a tented area for customers, she picks at the chesto pie she’d ordered from a cute little local shop, sniffling back tears.
She’d searched for hours through the small port town, wandering through the crowds, investigating shops, and even politely knocking at a few homes’ open doorways to ask about Hazel. If Nia were here just to sightsee, she’s sure she would be having the time of her life. There are stores and merchants for everything—books, food, toys, accessories and cloaks, items that supposedly help with battling, dungeon items—literally anything she could ask for! She’d thought with so many Pokemon around, surely finding someone who knows Hazel couldn’t be that difficult.
And yet, nothing. She really wishes she’d thought to ask Hadley what species Hazel was, but she’d assumed it would be easy enough to ask about a former human. Maybe Tobias was right. Hadley’s nice enough, but he said himself that his memory is going nowadays. Maybe he was wrong about Hazel living here. Maybe she doesn’t even exist at all.
Speaking of Tobias—the charmander is also nowhere to be found. Nia had kept an eye out for his distinct orange coloring and bright red scarf, and hadn’t caught a single glimpse of him. She wants to think that means he’s just hard at work trying to help her, but Nia’s an optimist, not an idiot. She has a feeling that Tobias is likely avoiding her, probably just whiling away his time until they can leave again.
Nia wants to think better of him, but she can’t keep pushing away the truth. Tears finally fall from her eyes, rolling down her cheeks as she swallows back a whimper. There are still Pokémon around. She doesn’t want to have a complete meltdown here. But bottling up her sadness and her disappointment, with both Tobias and Hazel...it’s gotta come out somehow.
She wipes at her eyes and her nose, sniffing wetly and taking deep, shaky breaths. She’s a mess, but she’d had such high hopes about Hazel. She just...she just wants someone who understands what she’s going through. Who can relate to the aching, tearing pain in her chest and the gaping hole in her memory.
“Mama! That’s the nice lady we told you about!”
“Why’s she cryin’? Is she okay?”
Nia lifts her head, blinking away her tears. She knows those voices.
It’s the two yellow mouse children from earlier in the day, tugging at a larger yellow rodent’s paws. The riolu just stares at them, uncomprehending as the children drag the older Pokémon over with them. She’s very pretty, cheeks a darker shade of red and eyes a honey-brown, ears longer and slimmer, and tail in a distinct lightning bolt shape. She looks familiar, actually.
One of the kids hops up on the bench beside Nia, leaning in close and frowning up at her face. “Why’re you crying?”
“Yeah! You seemed happy earlier!” The other chirps, appearing on Nia’s other side.
“W-Well, I, uh—“ Nia stops, casting a nervous glance at the kids’ mother. She looks uncomfortable. Good first impression, Nia. “I was sort of looking for someone, but I couldn’t find them. I-It’s fine, I’ll be okay.”
The little Pokémon perk up.
“Well, we know everyone here! We can help! Who are you looking for?”
“And if we don’t know, Mama does!”
Nia looks back and forth between the two, knowing what answer she’ll get to her question but having a feeling that they won’t let her wallow alone until she satisfies their curiosity.
“I’m, uh...looking for someone named Hazel. But she must not live here anymore.”
The kids slump, ears flattening into a pitiful look.
“Oh.”
“We don’t know any Hazels.”
“Hey, it’s okay. I appreciate you asking. You did your best,” Nia soothes, offering a watery smile.
“Excuse me, but did you say Hazel?”
Nia jumps, suddenly remembering the other adult in the situation. Shoot. She turns back to the kids’ mother, but instead of discomfort, now her soft features are...intense. Focused.
The riolu blinks at the change in demeanor. “U-Um. Yes?”
The rodent stares her down, and Nia swallows, shrinking away ever-so-slightly.
“Theo, Tommy, go back to Nana Alice’s house.”
“What?” One of the kids chirps, sounding indignant. “Why? We wanna stay here!”
“Yeah!”
Their mom turns a familiar look on the two, face stern and eyebrows lifting ever so slightly, as if to ask, Do you really want to test me?
Immediately, the kids quiet down. “Yes, Mama,” they both mumble, hopping back to the ground. They exchange a look, give Nia a tiny wave, then scamper away.
The riolu turns back to the kids’ mom, eyes wide and stomach churning. Did she do something wrong?
“Why are you looking for a Hazel?” The Pokémon asks, voice hard.
Nia flinches, looking down at her paws. “I-I’m, um—“
“Look at me.”
Nia slowly obeys, making eye contact with the rodent and feeling incredibly small despite their similar sizes. “I...I wanted to talk to h-her.”
“About?”
“I...heard that there was a Pokémon who lived here named Hazel, who used to be a, um...” She lowers her voice to a whisper. “A human.”
The rodent continues to stare Nia down, and the riolu’s mind races as she tries to figure out why this Pokémon would have such a reaction to the name when no one else did, even before she mentioned Hazel being human.
Wait.
Nia straightens in her seat. “D-Do you know her? Please, you have to help me find her!”
The rodent’s expression edges towards something defensive. Angry? “Tell me why you want to speak to her.”
So she does know something! Nia stands, desperately clasping her hands in front of her. “Please! I need to talk with her. I’m a human too and—I mean, I was a human—and she’s the only one I know of around here who’s the same!”
Immediately, the Pokémon’s aggressive demeanor falls away, her expression smoothing out to something surprised. There’s a beat of silence, and then, almost suspiciously, she asks, “What’s your favorite movie?”
Nia blinks. “Uh...”
“Favorite movie,” the rodent prompts again.
Nia swallows hard. “I-I’m not sure? Um, I think I liked Disney movies? It’s hard to remember, so—wait, do you even know what a movie is?”
To Nia’s surprise, the rodent’s hard expression breaks as she laughs. When she’s done she meets Nia’s baffled gaze with a warm smile, the expression lighting up her already pretty features. “No, not really. But I do recognize that name. Follow me, I’ll take you to Hazel.”
The Pokémon turns and walks away, and Nia hurriedly gathers her things, stuffing them into her satchel and running to catch up to the rodent.
“W-What—how do you—who—?”
The rodent quirks a smile Nia’s way. “Sorry for the cold welcome. I’m Margot. You are?”
“N-Nia.”
“Mm. Was that your human name?”
Nia casts a quick glance around to make sure no one is listening in before answering. “N-No. Um. Actually, maybe? I-I’m not sure. I lost my memory when I came here. Woke up here?”
The rodent gives her a sympathetic look. “I’m sorry. That must be hard.”
Nia isn’t sure whether to laugh or be embarrassed, suddenly recalling that Margot’s first impression of her was while she was in the middle of an emotional meltdown. “Kind of, yeah. Don’t get me wrong, this world is beautiful, and most people are really nice! But it’s, um...”
“Different.”
Nia nods, eyeing Margot. She has such an easy understanding of Nia’s experience. Like she’s heard all of this before.
“So, um...how do you know Hazel? I tried asking around town but no one else seems to recognize the name.”
Margot hums a contemplative noise. “Hazel...lays low. She doesn’t like to be bothered about where she came from or have to deal with accusations that she’s lying, so the town doesn’t know she used to be human. Where did you hear about her?”
“F-From a, uh, Pokémon named Hadley. Lives near the guild. Giant bug?”
Margot sighs. “Somehow I knew that’s what you’d say. Hadley doesn’t know how to keep his mouth shut.”
The two of them come upon a homey-looking hut that Nia had passed earlier in the day. It’s a shop, but Nia had assumed it to be closed, since its door had been shut tight. But now it’s cracked open and warm golden light spills out to touch the dusk. Margot swings opens the door and motions for Nia to go inside. She does, stopping and looking around in awe.
It’s a...woodwork shop? There are wooden sculptures and figures littered about the room, lining shelves and tables, larger pieces sitting in corners and wherever space allows. There’s a particularly impressive sculpture in the corner that’s twice as tall as Nia herself, with a beautifully carved scene of flowing water and whiskered, crowned fish Pokémon jumping upstream. Many of the smaller pieces look to be elegant carvings and sculptures of Pokémon, too. They’re amazing. Did Margot make these?
The entire front of the shop is crowded, packed to the brim with artwork and warmth, the smell of wood and lacquer filling the air. Nia only takes a few steps inside, trailing behind Margot, before an older, feminine voice calls out from the back room.
“Mar? Why did you send the boys back on their own?”
A moment later, a new Pokémon enters the doorway leading to the back of the hut. She’s clearly related to Margot and her sons, with yellow cheeks and ocean-blue eyes. Her fur is a rich, dark gold hue, her ears a soft fluffy yellow, paws tipped in cream. She’s beautiful, but her fur is streaked with white, her short pelt beginning to hang off her frame with age. Most incredibly, she’s levitating. She’s sat comfortably on the flat of her own wide yellow tail, floating into the room. Is this Nana Alice?
Nia stops, and the older Pokémon does as well, clearly surprised. Margot moves forward to place a gentle hand on the new Pokemon’s arm.
“Mama, this is Nia,” she explains, voice soft. “Former human. Hadley told her to look for Hazel.”
Nia isn’t sure how to read the flash of emotions that pass over the older Pokémon’s face at that news. After a moment, they settle into something solemn and soft, almost sad.
“So you’re a human? My name is Alice. Why don’t you come on back and have a cup of tea with me?”
Nia nods shyly, following the two rodents into the back area and murmuring a quiet, “Thank you.”
Nia’s mind is racing, trying to figure out how these women know Hazel, if maybe she lives nearby. But she doesn’t want to be rude, so she bites her tongue and looks around instead. There’s a tiny cooking setup on one side of the room, with a table and an area to light a fire beneath a makeshift tea kettle. Other pots and bowls sit neatly stacked nearby. On the other side of the room, a simple but startlingly human-like bedframe sits, with woven blankets and a bed of hay laid on top.
“Mama!”
“You brought the crying lady home?”
Nia looks up, startled. Theo and Tommy are peering over the edge of a loft-like structure overhead. They wave at Nia, and she cracks a smile, waving back.
“It’s past your bedtime, boys!” Margot calls up, somewhere between amused and authoritative. She turns a wry smile towards Nia and her mother. “Let me know if you two need anything.” With that, Margot scampers up the ladder to the loft, and the boys shriek with laughter, ducking out of sight.
The older rodent Pokémon, Alice, smiles fondly, turning to the makeshift stove. “Please, have a seat, Nia. Do you like tea? I have Sitrus and Pecha leaf.”
“O-Oh. Um. I think I like tea, but I’ve never had those kinds before.”
Alice hums. “I bet you’d like Pecha. Give me a few minutes.”
Nia takes a seat on one of the cushions, peering curiously at the decorative wooden figures sitting in a group at the center of the table. One of them looks exactly like Margot, a small bundle with distinct angular ears cradled in her arms. One of the others has an impressive likeness to the older Pokemon currently making her tea. The other two Pokémon, however, are unfamiliar to Nia. One of them is a taller weasel-like Pokemon, with two tails at its back and fins on its arms. Elegant age lines are lightly carved into its face. The second is a round rabbit-like Pokemon with a ball-like tail and a bubble pattern on its belly. Another identical bundle with pointed ears is gathered in its arms. They’re all incredibly lifelike, and Nia leans in, turning this way and that to try and see them better without disturbing the arrangement.
“Do you like them?”
Nia jumps back, but Alice is smiling, gaze fond. “Y-Yes! Did Margot make them?”
The older Pokémon laughs, softly. “No, those are my carvings. The shop products are made by the both of us.”
“Wow,” Nia breathes. “They’re beautiful!”
Alice hums again, eyeing the figurines. “I created those when my grandsons were born. The floatzel is my husband. The azumarill is my daughter’s wife.”
Maybe she sees the lost look on Nia’s face, because she adds, “Oh, I apologize. Sometimes I forget what it was like to be here so suddenly. The floatzel is the weasel. The azumarill is the rabbit.”
Wait—weasel? Rabbit? No regular Pokemon would know those terms. Nia’s head snaps up, the puzzle pieces in her mind clicking together. Of course. This is why no one knew who ‘Hazel’ was. This explains Margot’s odd behavior and her knowledge of Nia’s situation, and ‘Alice’s’ reaction to her identity as a human.
Nia stares at the old woman, hardly able to breathe. “You’re Hazel.”

*Slowly walks up to you, cradling this*
*Gently sets it down in fromt of you*
*SPRIN TS THE FUCK AEWAY IN PANIC*
Okay anyways hi I’m back after like, months lol, sorry about that (but I’m not actually back because I’m busy trying not to die because of school-work and trying to work on some MAP parts. I literally said five days ago on my yt channel “Hi I’m back now!! :-D” and school just said “no <3″ which, um, rude. So yeah I might come on and occasionally come post something but I’m really not gonna be coming on here to be active
OKAY OKAY but I need to explain these sketches because they will be suuuper confusing without context, I am very aware, yes, so there’s an explanation (+ some extra art and a non-shaded version of the stuff above) under the cut :-)
BASICALLY, @lulzyrobot made this AU of Pokémon Sword and Shield and now I have brain rot because of it. Also this AU will indeed be confusing to those who have no knowledge about sword and shield so here’s a skippable paragraph about the game:
(OBVIOUSLY SPOILERS BELOW)
Basically, SwSh is just a Pokémon game (no surprise there) and its gimmick or whatever is Dynamax, which turns Pokémon like. Really fucking large. (Some of them can also Gigantamax which changes their appearance as well as size, but we don’t care about that here bc it really isn’t relevant). In all gyms (except one, Spikemouth) there are power spots, which are needed for a Pokémon to Dynamax. If they’re not close to a power spot, they can’t do it. There are also power spots in the Wild Area (which is, you guessed it, an area in the game). At one point in the game, the villain -- Chairman Rose -- starts up something called “the Darkest Day”, which happened before in the Galarian region (which is where everything takes place), in hopes of getting infinite energy for them or something like that (really makes no sense but like ok pop off ig). To do this, he basically uses these things called Wishing Stars -- which are what allows Pokémon to Dynamax -- to summon a Pokémon called Eternatus. In-game, you basically just summon two other legendaries (Zacian and Zamazenta -- they’re on the cover of the games) and fight Eternatus and then catch the fucker. That’s all context you need for this AU so let’s move on to that now:
The AU is basically that Eternatus sends out a powerful blast which fuses trainers with Pokémon, to varying degrees. The closer to a power spot you are, the more likely you are to get it bad. If you’re far enough from one you won’t be affected at all. A person can merge with multiple Pokémon, but the more of them, the harder it is to not go wild. If you merge with a wild Pokémon, you’ll become a Wild Trainer (and those basically act like, well, wild Pokémon).
If you want more info (which you do want, trust me on this), here’s a post made by the creator themself!! https://lulzyrobot.tumblr.com/post/610890677032747008/pokemon-dynamorph-au-masterpost
OKAY ANYWAY, back onto this specific sketch (wow I really went on a rampage there lol)
I decided to Dynamorph my trainersona(??????) (btw, both the Dynamorph version AND the “human” version are WIPs, I’m not completely happy with either of them) and this was the resuulltttt
- Their name is Robin (because I’m a bastard that does self-insert ships with no shame)
- They merged with their Arcanine (and I’m considering also adding a wild Lycanroc, both so I can give them Epic Claws™ and so that their whole extremely volatile nature makes any sense)
- They have some REAL trouble keeping themself in check. Like. They’re constantly on the edge between becoming a Wild Trainer and being “normal”
- Because I am, like I said, a bastard who does self-ships without any shame they are together with Piers. yes I am a simp for him.
- Robin has their select group of friends (made up of all gym leaders minus Opal because they have no idea what the fuck is up with her, as well as Marnie, Hop and Leon. No they don’t give a shit about Bede) which they are super protective of. They have to be reminded that they can all handle themselves, because they might otherwise become a bit possessive.
- While they are a raging storm you do NOT want to get involved with in any way to anybody outside their friend group, they are really nice to be around when they really care about you. They may be pretty stubborn, but they always do what they think is best for their loved ones. On multiple occasions, they’ve gone out to collect any sorts of gifts they can find that they think their friends will enjoy. They are super gentle and kind with Hop and Marnie (which, by the way, they’d literally die for either of them) and they’re overall a good friend/partner. Their main flaw here is their temperament and somewhat possessive nature.
- If anybody did something to even moderately hurt any of their friends... hoo boy, you do NOT want to do that. They’ve nearly killed people for leaving so much as a scratch on their loved ones, and have to be physically dragged away so they won’t really kill somebody.
- However. Despite really, truly believing they'd never, under ANY circumstances, hurt ANY of their friends... they’re wrong about that. The only ones they could truly never purposely cause harm to would be Piers, Marnie and Hop. Yes, it would take A LOT for them to hurt any of the others (like, they’d only hurt the others if they tried to, idk, kill them or something. Or if they tried or actually did kill somebody else in their close circle) but it could hypothetically happen.
- If they ever were to see Rose, he’d probably be torn to shreds on sight. Literally nothing would be able to stop them.
- While it’s near impossible for anybody they don’t care about to calm them down, it’s pretty easy for especially Hop, Marnie, Piers, Raihan, Leon and Milo (and the others, but less so for them lol).
- They were right by a power spot, like they were about to step into a den, when the blast happened so they were. Really fucking affected by it. They stayed in the Wild Area for a while after that, searching for their Arcanine who had “mysteriously vanished”, before they transformed. They were basically a Wild Trainer for at least a month before Piers found them and managed to get them to remember who they actually were over the course of two days. It was,, really concerning when they’d at first been texting him pretty much non-stop to update him on what was going on with them just to then go radio silent for a few days, especially since people had begun transforming at that point. Haha angst go brrr
- You must ignore how their clothes still kind of fit despite them growing to be both more ~muscular~ and tall and how it’s not dirty for the sake of my convenience ok
Ok I think that’s all? woah that was a long post lmao
Anyways, here’s the promised extra art (first one is the same sketch without any shading and that stuff (buT I MISSED ONE, I DIDN’T REMOVE THE SHADING FROM ONE I AM SORRY LOL), second is Robin as just a regular trainer)
Tumblr media
Oh also some context for some of the sketches:
Bottom one where they’re screaming “yOU mOthErFuCKeR” is what their reaction would be to one of their loved ones being killed
The one with Milo is Robin just. Being near him. After probably having some sort of panic or anxiety attack because they’re worried about everyone. Because Milo is a really calming person to be around.
Top one in the middle is Robin just patting the red eye-lens-things Raihan got from his Flygon because they find it to be Very Entertaining to just pat them for no reason at all.
The ones where they’re hugging Marnie would take place right after they come back to Spikemouth after their month(s) as a Wild Trainer. They still weren’t used to being around people (and much less BEHAVING like a PERSON) so they were pretty awkward about Marnie hugging them.
The one where they’re surrounded by darkness to the right and kneeling forward is them in the middle of their “transformation” after the blast happened.
Fiery ones at the top right are just Robin being pissed as fuck lol
Tumblr media
(Still haven’t decided if this will be the “official” team of Pokemon I have, but it’s cool for now. Also yes, I added an extra Pokemon to my “team” who isn't actually a battle-Pokémon or whatever. I NEED APPLETUNS EMOTIONAL SUPPORT OKAY)
