Everyone hunkered down to a low height, trying to settle into the bushes as they waded through, following the keen nose on the little fire hybrid, he was certainly onto something. This was excellent training for the little guy, Val was on the trail too but stayed right at the back to let him get experience and confidence, as directed by peach. This was an excellent skill for any herd worker for sure.
Devra followed Coal closely, giving him positive words if he got a little lost, and praised when he found another solid clue. She looked back at Peach and grinned, feeling extremely proud of her partner.
Before too long the tree line broke, surprising sunshine filling the clearing ahead. A small number of crossed and crossed trails led to a watering hole not too far away, the ice on top cracked by something big, making way for Pokemon to drink.
“we’ve got to be close now, these muddy tracks are still pretty fresh.”
She nodded, letting Coal do his thing as they went. “This is pretty exciting. I’ve never tracked something like this.” She payed close attention to what Peach was showing her, wanting to do well as her student.
With another turn of the corner, the group locked eyes on a distant form, tucked behind a bush a bit, grazing in something green. The longer you looked the more you began to see, the Professor stuck to the shadows of the tree line, getting a bit closer, making sure to keep an eye out for scouts.
“the mid evolutions of this species are usually lookouts, if they get back to the herd with news of a human close by they might all bolt off, but we do have a whole group, look over there.” She pointed to a less densely populated area, between the trees and shrubs little nidoran, some a little fuzzy looking, others smooth like normal, with varying shades of blues and purples, some even seemed to have very slight subtle markings when in direct sunlight. Peach hung back, letting Devra and her crew take the lead, it was a good group pic.
Devra looked at them in awe, hands quickly finding her camera as she moved slowly for the best shot. Coal stuck close to her, eyes on what they had been tracking. Aliza on the other hand was staring to get bored. At first she was content to simply graze on green around them, but she then caught sight of a small group of nidoran that was moving closer to the water. She glanced at her human, snorting as she wasn’t given attention. With a shake of her head she started to make her way to the little Pokémon.
Peach had heard a twig snap behind them, focused on the shadows of the trees, trying to spot whatever was keeping an eye on their group, her attention elsewhere, she could just feel eyes on them, made her hair stand on end it felt like. Val had seemed to go off into the foliage, rummaging for whatever made the sound. So long as they kept their distance, the nido’s wouldn’t bother with them.
Aliza made her way closer to the Pokémon, her only focus on them. She nickered softly at them, offering to play with them. Her inexperience with the world outside the island clearly a dangerous problem.
It took no time for Peach to become distracted, Val popping her head back out of the bush, beckoning her trainer to come to take a look at something, even Dreepy seemed interested, and so the woman took a few more tentative steps away to see what the fuss was about, not in direct sight of the others for that moment. She had to know what was so important that Val would tear her from the group.
As Aliza got to the nidoran some of them spooked slightly, but one of the larger ones went up to her and touched noses. Aliza nickered happily and pranced in place. Her sudden movement caught the eye of Coal, but someone else as well as he turned to alert Devra.
With the Professor away from the group, unaware of the situation, it was left to Devra, to take note of the slight vibrations under foot, there was a sudden rush of bird types spooking, the sky becoming full of their little bodies all trying to get away, as the herds leader Nidoking became very apparent, not coming towards her, but her partner.
Devra looked up to watch the Pokémon flying away, frowning as she tried to figure out what had spooked them. Coal started to bark wildly, bringing her attention to what he was looking at. The blood drained from her face as it felt like her heart froze. “Aliza!!!” She rushed to her feet, the world feeling like it was in slow motion as she reached for her back up Pokémon, desperately trying to get Cullin out in time. Aliza only took notice if the situation when the huge male was almost on top of her, sending the nidoran running for safety. At what seemed like the last second there was the sound of branches behind the little ponyta snapping violently, a second massive Pokémon bursting from the trees. An older nidoqueen bellowed at the male, ears back as she put her body between him and the trembling youngster.
The male took a snap at her, this nidoqueen who had seemingly defended young Aliza had a battered hide, some variation to her, fur that seemed to give her an edge in the cold climate of this area, amongst regular nidoqueen hide that seemed older, duller in colour, with the odd scar or mark on it. The nidoking reared back to initiate a brick break but missed, leaving himself open to her heavy fist.
The Nidoqueen snorted loudly as she bunched herself, rushing at him with a well aimed Drill Run. Her smaller horn slammed into the Nidoking, pushing him back a good foot with explosive power. During all of this Devra just stood by the trees, having sent Coal to get peach as she tried to think of what to do.
The professor had been led to a smaller opening within the forest, the space filled with a large fallen log of a tree that looked like it fell tens of years ago, parts of it regrowing despite all odds. Val dug a bit, disturbing the moss, even the little Dreepy had exited the bag to look at what she’d found, uncovering a strange shaped item, at first it looked like a rock, but it was a very specific sandy coloured stone. The texture of it was the same as the statue in the village, and she wondered if it was another shrine to a different Pokemon. Cole suddenly burst through the bushes, barking loudly, taking everyone’s attention away from the item.
“that’s not happy behaviour bud, is something wrong?” Of course it was, she only had to look at him once to see the panic on his face. She slipped the weird round rock into her bag, Dreepy just on top, and bolted behind the Pokemon, back towards where she left Devra, Val beside Cole talking briefly between strides.
Devra let Cullin out of his pokeball, the large corviknight cawing loudly as Devra sent him to shield Aliza from any danger. She knew he had the power to take some hits, but one blow from the titans could be deadly for her little ponyta. Meanwhile the older Nidoqueen had taken a few hits, but she still stood tall. She almost turned to attach the bird Pokémon that went for the baby, but instincts told her there was no danger in the steel type’s motives toward her. She then snapped back to the Nidoking, her eyes flashing as she opened her mouth. With a loud bellow she let loose a close range Ice Beam attack, the type advantage move aimed right at the male’s chest.
Peach just cleared the bushes to see flashes of attacks and two heavy Pokemon colliding with little Aliza very close to the commotion.
“Val get in there, assess and cover, it’s time to break this up.” The woman grabbed the little Dreepy to put in her big pockets, out of her satchel and threw the heavy bag in the bushes to lighten the load, breaking into a sprint, chasing behind her Pokemon who had rushed to the scene. To one side she noticed Devra, out of harms way luckily, but looking very shaken, she skidded to a bit of a stop close by, eyes still on the fight ahead of her.
“cmon, get Aliza out of there, we’ll give you cover, get her away or in her ball fast!” She didn’t wait for a response, bolting forwards to her partner, side stepping a stray boulder thrown between the Nido’s, ducking behind a tree to break their line of sight. Without another word Val did exactly as she had been trained to, disappearing in the dust and grit being thrown about, soon realising that the Nidoqueen was in fact helping, not hindering. With a swift burst of speed she vaulted up the tough hide of the female who stood mid-battle, spring-boarding off her strong head, higher than them all, calling forth a great torrent of fire, turning the grass to ash, forcing the Nidoking to take a defensive stance, being pushed back for a moment. Peach gestured to Devra to get going before slipping around the tree that shielded her, going further into the fight.
Devra looked to the Professor desperately as she told her the plan, nodded even though she didn’t see it. Once a path was cleared she dashed forward, Coal at her side as she made her way to Cullin and Aliza. She skidded next to the trembling ponyta, wrapping her arms around her to snap her out of her daze. Little purple eyes looked up at her with fear and Devra shushed her, cooing to her as she started to guide Aliza into the shadows. She sent Cullin into the air, providing air support by clawing at the Nidoking with every swoop. The nidoqueen has taken some more hits, looking a little rough but still moving strong. Her eyes flashed again as she let loose a second Icebeam, her aim true as the attack slammed hard into the shoulder of the king. She took a step closer to the fire, carful of it heat but making it clear that she wasn’t afraid as she roared at the faltering male.

The professor flicked around the map a bit, looking closely at the local weather too. “The Giants Bed sounds interesting, weathers clear over there too, looks more green, sound good to you?” The group turned one final corner down to a ramp leading to the town, clearly now were people coming and going, some farmed the land, others chattered amongst themselves. Looked quaint from where they all entered.
She nodded, hand resting on Aliza’s back as they walked. “Sounds like a plan. I was actually reading a book on the train about that area. Apparently a lot of the nido lines live there. I’ve never seen them in Galar before.” She held up her camera and grinned. “I’ve got to get some good pictures of them! Maybe I’ll get good ones of a nidoqueen or nidoking!”
A perfect Pokemon set for any budding herd trainer, peach had seen a fair few in her time, so they’d lost their immediate excitement, but for sure seeing if they had cold weather adaptions here would be interesting.
“I don’t doubt you’ll find one or two that are close enough to take a picture of, they’re not always as aggressive as folks like to assume, they’re just a bit big.” The trainers moved through the town, getting to a large field with crops growing in half and a sort of welcome fate around the edges of the half that stayed clear of planting. Peach recognises a lot of the sprouting things, but some caught her eye, unusual and different because of the weather this little hamlet got, lots of snow from the looks of it. Nestled amongst the fields were a couple of stalls, one with hot soup and bread for sale, the other drinks and snacks, the sweet smell of hot coffee wafting over to the two and their Pokemon. As peach joined a short waiting line, her eye landed on a weird statue, depicting what looked like two different Pokemon working in cahoots. “hey, check that out, is there an info board on it or something? Wonder what Pokemon that is...” it was right next to where the stall with hot drinks had set up, easy to see, but worn down by time.
Devra looked over at the statue as she joined Peach in line. She then thought for a minute before digging out a small book from her bag. “I feel like I’ve seen something like that before.” She spent a few minutes flipping through the pages before she held the book out to peach. “Here. It doesn’t give a name for the Pokémon, but it calls it the King of Bountiful Harvest. Hm....” she took another look at the book than at the statue. “Something is off with that statue. Or maybe the book? The size of the head doesn’t match.”
She squinted at the picture of the Pokemon in question, it seemed kind of like the statue. “you’re right though, this one in the book has a fat head, maybe the statues broken? Looks pretty old, they might have lost the top bit years ago for all we know.” The woman was now at the counter, ordering coffee and snacks for everyone, pocketing things for later, just in case she came face to face with a hungry Pokemon.
“‘bountiful harvest king...sounds like a grass Pokemon to me. What else could it be?”
She thought for a moment as she sipped her coffee. “Maybe.....ice type? Based on the area it lives in I mean. But grass is a solid option too. Do you think it might be dual type? A lot of legendaries are from what I’ve read.” She kept a close eye of Aliza and coal as they raced a little ways ahead, calling them back when a shady looking man started eyeing them. “Why do people have to be so weird? Pokémon are so much easier.”
“Could be ice, this place is pretty cold, seemingly a lot of the time too. A dual type is pretty common, regardless of rarity it’s a really good chance that whatever it was, it had another typing. Maybe there’s a library or something with some information, sounds like an interesting old tale to investigate.” Val was as per usual keeping watch, leaving Peach to relax for five and not be on sentry duty. Hearing the comment on people and how they behave made the woman laugh a bit, almost involuntarily.
“pokemon ARE way easier. Think I’d rather front up a raging Tauros than a displeased human, least you know what’s coming most of the time.” Spotting the odd looking guy in the distance, the woman checked her bag, Dreepy safe, getting a little chin scratch, enjoying the view. The youngsters were in sight, Val has her eyes on him too.
“c’mon, let’s ditch this place, we can camp tonight, find some lodgings some other time, gotta check this Giants bed out anyway.”
She grinned, hand back on Aliza’s back as the two young ones came to her side. “Sounds like a plan to me. I want to try and get some good sunset shots of Pokémon.” She finished her coffee and threw the cup in a trash can. “There’s just so much here to see, I can’t wait to get to all the areas here.”
With a swift pace the pair began their way past the buildings that lined the quiet streets, their partners sticking close for now, before the road led out of town, through more heavy snow, though you could see an end to it far away in the distance, the first signs of fresh green plant life since arriving, out side of those heavily grafted, very densely fruiting trees that the public seemed to care for with diligence. Despite the bitter cold there was a lot to see on the way though, and both couldn’t help but enjoy seeing the wild delibird flock together, and you could see tracks from Amaura, a once extinct species that now thrives in certain areas.
Devra would stop from time to time to take a quick picture, grinning as she checked each one. “I’ve never seen an amaura before. Think we’ll get to see some up close?” She threw a stick for Coal that he brought her, laughing as Aliza took off with the little pup to find the stick.
“‘for sure, the tracks are fresh, got some droppings too from them, must be a herd around, they’re rather friendly even when wild too so I don’t doubt they’ll come over to investigate us if we find them.” The green grass ahead got closer and closer, snow subsiding, and a touch of sunshine peeking out from behind the clouds, it could even be classed as good weather now, despite the bitter cold wind that didn’t ease up. “‘keep your eyes peeled for trees leaning at weird angles, The bigger Nido’s use them to scratch and it can uproot them a bit, missing bark and skin or fur will also let us know what’s out here.”
She nodded as she started to keep more of a lookout. She spent some time looking for more sings for the amaura, but soon spotted something even more impressive. She gasped slightly as she knelt down, waving to Peach to get her attention. Two massive Pokémon, a nidoqueen and nidoking simply basking in the sun together.
the pair seemed pretty alert despite their basking, despite their eyes being closed both of them had their ears picked up, swivelling to face the humans as they entered the Pokemon’s area. “watch them, they do suddenly just bolt at you if you’re not ready.” Peach had seen plenty and let Devra do her thing, keeping her back covered, noticing a few poliswine to watch in the distance. “we could probably find a big group if they’re this easy to come across here, might get some shots of all the evolutions together if you’re lucky.”
She snapped a few quick pictures and nodded, grabbing hold of the curious pony as she sniffed the air. “I’d love a picture like that. Where do you think we should start?”
With a look around, there was a good 20 minutes of sighting nothing, but as they moved deeper into the Giants Bed area, trampled foliage became more apparent, they dove deeper, into more wooded areas, coming to openings from time to time, even stumbling across some old looking ruins of buildings. “ah there look!” Tracks, peach showed her several that crossed and travelled north, some from the smaller evolutions, explaining how to distinguish them from other big species by their singular digging claw on the foot and little differences in how the weight distributed to show how big or old the Pokemon may be. All handy when hunting for wild ones.
“follow them and you should get to a larger group.” She pointed to a wall of bushes and trees, where the tracks led off too. “‘alternatively, see if Cole can pick up the scent, they’re usually quite good for this kind of work.”
She nodded, bringing him over to look at the tracks. After working with him for a while Coal finally understood what Devra wanted from him, and started to sniff around the area for a stronger trail. After some time he found what they were looking for, yipping softly at the humans to follow him. “I think he’s got it!” She started to follow slowly, not wanting to make too much noise.

The slow pace was pleasant, despite the snow the sun shone brightly, and the pair was able to enjoy taking in the routes sights and sounds, plenty of Pokemon near by, you could see their tracks in the snow, the odd traveller moving from the station too. As Devra moved to the tree, Peach followed, standing out of her shot, looking up at the trees immense size and fresh colour.
“‘it’s really beautiful here...” her eyes squinted up further into the tree, something beyond the lower branches moving, then suddenly flying at speed from the tree. A moment later and snow hit the Professor square in the face, going down the back of her coat, getting an ungodly screech from her as she jumped about very suddenly to get the snow out, her poor Pokemon holding on for dear life.
Devra jumped at the sound, clutching her camera to her chest to keep from dropping it. She turned around to see the woman in distress. She rushed over and started to help shake the snow out of her coat. “Can you warm things up please Valka?” She finished getting the snow out and then started patting Peach’s back to try and warm her up.
The woman was already having a wailord of a time, the snow being so horribly cold, she was great full when Val fanned her tail out, increasing the ambient temperature around them all by easily 15 degrees, trying not to melt too much of the snow around them while heating up her trainer. Peach huffed, laughed a bit, and tanked everyone, hacking her bag to see if Dreepy was ok. He had been shocked yes but seemed fine once the situation had been explained, returning to the bag, his little face sticking out to watch everything going on.
“ok, ok. I think I’ll survive, got to remember not to stand under trees so much here hah.” She grinned in her weird lopsided way at Devra and thanked her, a little damp but otherwise fine now Val was doing her heat thing. “hope you got the shot you wanted, sorry to startle you all.” She even looked to Cole who had stopped what he was doing to investigate.
The little pup was sniffing at Peach’s feet, her behavior making him very curious. “Don’t worry I got it. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had snow fall on me while taking pictures during the winter. But yeah, maybe avoid that.” She laughed with the Professor as they continued down the road. “Must have woken you up real food though.”
“‘I don’t think I’ve ever been this awake in my life, and I don’t know how to feel about it.” A bit of a joke, as the pair wandered towards the town, the tops of roofs starting to show up in the distance, and the smell of chimney smoke giving them both a sense of the warmth to come.
She took a deep breath of the cold and crisp air. “First thing I’m doing is getting some coffee. I might like the snow but I like it with hot drinks even more.” She glanced around, noticing a small open area tucked to the side of the trail. “Hey! Why don’t we let Aliza see the snow there?”
Spotting the same opening the woman nodded, honestly focused on the mention of a hot coffee, but the untouched snow begged for prints to be added to it.
“you know she’ll be all legs, excited, trying to jump things, running about madly. Yes. Let’s let her loose.” It’d be cute, a pokemons first snow is always a special little moment. The pack moved to the opening, peach sitting to one side, Val and her scraping snow off of a fallen tree, sitting neatly together, while the little Dreepy came out to see what was going on.
“‘get your camera ready for it, you know it’ll be cute.”
Devra was already ahead of her, getting her camera set for the bright light of the snowy area. She then took out a pokeball and released Aliza, camera ready for anything. The young ponyta shook herself after being in her ball for so long, then looked around her her person. She snorted in confusion when she noticed all of the white around her, ears flicking about. “Look Ali! It’s snow!” Devra snapped a couple pictures before kneeling down to show her it was okay to touch. Coal even came over and showed her you could leave prints in the snow. Aliza slowly lowered her head, sniffing at the snow. But before Devra could warm her the ponyta let out a loud sneeze as some loose snow got into her nose. She reared back and snorted, shaking her head before she started running laps with little bucks and kicks.
Yep. Disgustingly sweet. Dreepy looked to the little hybrid ponyta with fondness and familiarity, but while she bolted about in excitement, kept his distance. Peach noticed this little moment, petting him every so slightly as he sat on her lap with its little arms folded. “‘don’t worry bud, she’ll come over when she’s ready, she’s never seen the snow before, I bet you were excited your first time too.” He made a weird chirping sound before continuing to watch quite patiently. Devra was busy snapping pics and playing, Coal too, everyone seemed content for the moment, it was very quaint.
“‘I don’t think anyone would mind us travelling with the whole group out of their pokeballs, they’re not exactly a difficult bunch of Pokemon. You should keep her with you, she’s obviously enjoying it a lot.” A laugh escaped her as coal and Aliza collided with a skid and sudden stop, not bothered by the slippery terrain, or the tumble taken, back up in no time.
“I think I will. She’s having so much fun I don’t want to stop her.” She finished taking her massive amounts of pictures, going over to join peach on the log. Aliza kept going for another ten minutes before she came skidding to a halt, snorting from all the running she’d done. She then trotted over to Devra for attention, leaning into her for the pets she so desperately wanted. As the ponyta stood there she noticed the little dreepy, abd stretched her nose out to give him a sniff.
Dreepy hid, just for a brief moment, before slowly peeking out, touching noses with the pokemon, to get to know her smell. He seemed happy after a moment where they got to interact, Aliza reminded him of the other ponyta he had gotten to know, though not quite, and he couldn’t quite put his little mitts on why.
“I must admit, I’m worried about this Dragon type with all this snow around. I’ve seen nothing but ice types since we got here, hopefully he stays out of too much trouble, maybe the ghost in him will balance it out a bit.” Peach was unfamiliar with both dragons and ghosts, having had very few in her lifetime, mostly dual type grass or bug, making them much easier to work with, this Pokemon actually did unnerve her a little, she couldn’t help but worry about him constantly in the back of her mind.
“‘fire types are so straight forward in comparison hah!” The cluster of Pokemon around them all fell into the fire category, bar the little dragon, and you could tell, their ambient heat was slowly melting the snow where they sat, puddles forming around their feet over time.
“I’m sure he’ll be okay. Just got to keep him out of any fights for the time being.” She stood up after a minute to stretch. “Should we get going then? It looks like the little girl got her energy out for the time being.” Aliza snorted and gave Devra a little headbutt, making her giggle.
“sounds like a plan.” And so the group stood, brushed any snow off, and began their trek to the village close by, all Pokemon actually quite happy to walk together, aside from Val who took her watch post on Peach’s shoulder as per usual. It was however nice to see that little Dreepy being part of something now Aliza was out and about. He seemed a bit more confident for it.
“Hot coffee sounds amazing right about now, you really hit the nail on the head with that earlier.”
Aliza stuck close to Devra at they went, wanting to be close to the human that smelled like home. Coal on the other hand kept bounding ahead, keeping the group in eyesight. “So what area do you think we should go to first?”

The night was short, the pair were able to sleep a good 8 hours before getting ready the next morning to set off towards the train station. The pair decided to come back through to pick up the Pokemon to bring back to the island before heading home, but for now they could stay behind with Devra’s mom, just for a little while longer. The only team members that went with them were coal, the little hybrid houndoomxarcanine pup, and Aliza, who had taken a shine to the ponyta gifted to Peach, they seemed to play well together, even Dreepy liked her. With bags gathered, goodbyes said, and tickets bought, the pair stepped onto the train, waving off Olivia who came to see her daughter go, and off they went, towards the new Galarian island, the Crown Tundra.
Devra settled into her seat, waving goodbye to her mom as Coal jumped up in the seat next to her. He was small enough to be on the train, but Aliza had to stay in her pokeball for the time being. She looked over at her friend and smiled. “I hope you slept alright. I always thought the guest room bed was too hard.”
“‘you saw me right? I was asleep in an aeroplane chair sitting up right, the bed was just fine. Much better than most of the places I sleep while away from the lab.” She recalled a few occasions being able to just about catch an hours rest while being trapped in a tree by aggressive Pokemon. “it was a warm, dry bed, with actual sheets and a roof over me haha. It was great.” She mindlessly petted Val, ordering a good coffee off the trolley that passed by, a sweet little wigglytuff in the train companies uniform asking for payment. She got her wallet out...or so she thought? Her hand reached into her bag, and hit something very cold and very smooth, reeling from the weird texture. Val sniggered to herself, shifting to the empty seat the bag sat on, to peer inside.
“I think we have a stow away.” Peach murmured, carefully opening the bag much wider than needed to get a good look. “‘Dreepy?” Inside was the little ghost type, she swore while waving to Devra’s mother at the station when they left, she had also spotted this Pokemon amongst others that had come to see the trainers off. He was wrapped up in one of Peach’s shirts, and seemed a little nervous about being caught in her stuff.
Devra looked over at Peach from her camera, having been looking th right some pictures. “Dreepy? He’s here? But I saw him with my mom. Here, I took a picture of the group when we left.” She held the camera so they could both look. “Oh....well. I thought he was in the picture.” She looked at the little Pokémon and sighed. “I guess he really wanted to come with you.”
“well, it’s fine with me, if he wants to come then I guess we’ve got a new team member.” She smiled a little at the Pokemon and let him and Val go and pick some snacks off the trolley before paying. She gave eyes at her steadfast fire type while Dreepy’s back was turned, asking without words for her to tone her usual disinterest down by like 20%, and she began chattering to the ghost Pokemon as she selected a strawberry filled dumpling thing in a wrapper. With the stern silence broken between the two, peach could relax a little, perhaps they two would be fine together for the trip.
“You’re right though, I swear I saw him on the platform too.” She glanced at the screen on the camera, seeing no signs of him. “‘how strange. You’re faster than you look hey bud?” Dreepy seemed quite proud of the compliment, and finally chose a chocolate-orange flavoured pastry twist before returning to the open bag to snack. “I’m buying, you and your team want anything?”
Devra nodded to Coal, who bounced over and happily started sniffing around until he found a pumpkin muffin. She then grabbed an apple cake and raspberry pastry for her other two team members before sitting back down. “I don’t need anything. Mom made sure I left full.” She laughed and opened Coal’s treat for him. “Tell Peach thank you young man.” The little pup barked happily as me bounced over to her for pets.
“she’s a good mom that one, I bet she’d enjoy a little holiday in johto, lots to see, I can hook you both up with some fun things to do for sure.” There was plenty of art galleries, heritage sites, and excellent restaurants throughout the region, not to mention live music, public gardens of great beauty, and a butt load of areas to sightsee in. Peach paid up and petted Coal, she was very glad to see him in capable hands, he took to Devra like a Ducklett to water, and she was confident he’d grow fast now he was out exploring with her. The Dreepy seemed to peep its eyes out at the hybrid Pokemon, still nibbling away on its snack.
Coal bounced back up next to Devra and started to munch on his treat. “I’m sure she’ll love the trip.” She looked out the window, watching the countryside roll by. “What’s the first thing you want to do once we get to the tundra?”
The professor sipped her hot drink, also enjoying the windows view. “hm, that’s a good question. I suppose I’d really like to find a place to stay, I’d normally not mind camping but I see the name ‘Crown TUNDRA’ and feel like I wouldn’t want to stay over night outside as much. What about you? You’ll be knees deep in herd Pokemon in no time I bet, anything else you’d want to check out?” The little Dreepy had snuck closer to the window to look out, still nibbling.
“Well, there is this big ruin building with a massive old dead tree that’s I’d love to see. But it’s at the top of one of the mountains here. So it might be tricky getting to.” She mindlessly pet Coal as she slowly started seeing snow. “And I think there’s a small town that we could ask about lodging at. Day trips to the tundra and back by dark?”
“‘oh I do love a tree, that sounds interesting, you could always try to find a Pokemon who could get you up that mountain a bit easier?” Peach had planned to do just that, the cold sneaking in, she could feel her bad knee aching ever so slightly already, and almost exactly after that thought crossed her mind, Val crept over to radiate heat, sitting in her lap, easing the dull pain.
“perhaps we can camp out some of the time, it’d be nice to see what happens at night, what Pokemon come out, just perhaps not in any heavy weather if it can be avoided. I did take a look online, the village there is usually pretty open to travellers, think I noticed a B&B or two with vacancies posted, I’m sure we’ll find somewhere to stay.” By this point, the views had turned pure white, in the fields you could see grazing Pokemon, a herd of wooloo who almost blending in with the surroundings.
Devra spotter the wooloo right away, fawning over one of her favorite Pokémon. Coal picked up on his trainer’s excitement, his tail wagging happily as she told him what snow was like. “Oh I can’t wait to see Aliza’s face when she sees her first snow!”
“thats right, she’s not even seen a December yet, or a snowy route. Good thing you got your camera then isn’t it, I’m sure mom and pop would like to see her first experience with it, you know Cole hasn’t seen snow either before. Bet he’s real excited about now.” The pup must have felt something, seeing all this white for the first time. “‘what about you Dreepy, you seen snow before?” The little ghost type looked back, didn’t turn its body at all, but bent it’s neck fully back to look at the Professor upside down, giving no clear answer, which to her seemed like a big fat no, but perhaps he was a little shy about answering right away. “no matter, we’ll soon be in the thick of it.”
She giggled at the sight of the little dreepy. “He’s seen some light snow before. I caught him in the wild area. The weather there is always so weird. But he hasn’t seen this much before. This is going to be a big busy day.” She snapped a quiet picture of dreepy being cute, then one of Coal barking at the snow through the window.
The train began to turn a final corner, the tannoy alerting passengers to the upcoming station, the only stop on the journey coming up very soon.
“looks like we’re nearly there, ready to get going?” The trip had been only short, but outside it looked like a completely different region, so much snow and ice everywhere, nothing but pine trees. The woman grabbed her bags, not before waiting for the little Dreepy to return to the inside where it wrapped up in the spare clothes to keep warm. Val took to her shoulder as she usually did.
Devra nodded, standing up to gather her things. She then picked up Coal, holding his stout body in her arms to keep him from running of into the snow. “We’re ready. I’m so excited to see this area. I’ve read about it but they took forever to get it safe enough for more visitors.”
Safe enough wasn’t always entirely foolproof, and Peach was quietly happy she packed a first aid kit. She had heard some murmurs it was a little risky here, a lot of tough Pokemon roamed about.
“I hope you’re right, I’m sure the locals wouldn’t put people at risk.” The pair stepped off the train once the doors pinged open, the brisk cold air swept past, pulling them all out onto the platform. People came and went, and before long they became aware of the exits and where to head to next.
Devra took a slight lead of the two, following signs towards the little town. “Well, they did give all of us coming here a safety talk too. I just hope trainers actually listen. You gotta be smart about this place.” She then set Coal down and let the little guy run circles around the two humans. “I think I’ll wait to let Aliza our until we’re settled.”
With the pup thoroughly enjoying the snow, the trainers paused to check their phones, a map was needed for a moment, before they began to hear some loud ruckus just outside to the right of the station, sounded like a man and a young woman, peach didn’t even register it much, turning her back to the noise almost instinctually, trying to figure out which way to go. Val however was being nosey and sat on her shoulder judging the people making all the noise pretty hard from the look on her face.
“I think you’re right, we should find somewhere to stay before we really go out on a wild adventure.”
She nodded, looking at her own map on her Rotom phone, thanking the Pokémon inside for his help. “It looks like we head on that way.” She pointed to the road as it took a slight left turn. “Shouldn’t be more than a 20 minute walk.”
“‘sounds good to me, wonder what Pokemon we might see on the way?” Pocketing the phone and hoisting her bag up a bit, Peach began to take a few steps, noticing the pair who were making such noise earlier, avoiding them entirely, they seemed to be having a dad-daughter tiff that was no ones business. Onward, to the first route of the Crown Tundra!
Devra took a glance at the arguing people and sighed, hoping the wouldn’t bother her or the Professor. Coal bounded ahead as they walked, but kept in his trainer’s sight. “It’s really pretty here. Just look at all the ice on these pine needles!” She crunched her way to a tree and found an angle to catch light in the ice.

A few more days passed, the whole island was preparing to lose two staff members for a short while so ther was a handful of new Pokemon squads on patrols, and a lot of handing over of work to Professor Grey and Pari who were happy to stay behind for the time being. Seeing as the trip to the Crown Tundra area in Galar was looming, peach had put in special permission to bring along Valka, her age and subsequently monstrous skill made her usually unable to travel, trained to a fine point, putting her in a gym battle or a league seemed very unfair, but the locals seemed to think she’d fit the bill, Professor Magnolia had mentioned the abundance of legendary Pokemon in the area, so it would seem wise to take along a Pokemon that was able to hold its own.
With bags packed and bodies in seats the woman and her apprentice began the trip back to Galar, not only to collect more data on the new areas, but also to gather Devra’s team mates up to bring back to the island. The flight back was fine, Peach slept, drooling a bit, legs tucked up in the plane seat, her single Pokemon stashed for the journey, it felt uncomfortable having Valka in her pokeball, it didn’t happen often.
Devra had spent most of her free time packing for the trip, and the rest of it bonding with the two Pokémon she’d be bringing to the tundra. She had to make sure Aliza and her newest Pokémon Coal were strong enough to hold up in the tundra. Fiona helped her load with training her daughter, trusting her human to take care of Aliza but also wanting to make sure she’d be okay too. Now that they were on the plane Devra sat in the window seat, watching the clouds go buy. As they got closer to landing she gently nudged Peach. “Professor? We’re almost there.” She then looked out again, excited to see her mom again, as well as all of her other Pokémon.
Peach grunted, awoke with a jolt, and looked around, dazed and somewhat still very asleep, looking rather disheveled. Drool sticking hair to her face, squinty tired eyes, and a miserable headache. Water and pills as she waited to get the green light to get off the plane, and finally see her partner again, the ball sat in her pocket, in her hand, waiting patiently.
by the time they had disembarked, got their luggage and had caught a flying taxi towards Devra’s home, they had been able to finally take in the scenery, and enjoy the view as they made their way back to postwick, a quiet little town full of wooloo keepers and families.
“you must be happy to get home, see the family, you’re old Pokemon.”
Devra had given the corviknight a warm hello when they were picked up, being familiar with his taxi team. “I’m super excited. I told mom we were coming the other day. I think she’s going to have tea and cake waiting for us. I think you’ll be happy for the tea. She says my Pokémon have all been keeping an eye out for me. I have a feeling there’s going to be a mob when I get of the taxi.” She laughed as she saw her house come into view, here eyes bright and happy.
The pair thanked the taxi driver, and his delightful Pokemon, watching them fly off, leaving them outside a quaint little home, the front door swinging open in haste, a woman stepping out, presumably Devra’s mother? Peach smiled a bit, trying to come off as pleasant, and let Dev take the lead here. In her pocket she could feel the pokeball shake, Val trying to get out.
“not yet bud, let’s just get settled, not long now.” She murmured very quietly, not drawing any attention to herself.
Devra glanced over at Peach, her own poke balls in hand. “You can let her out now Peach. Most of my guys know to be polite around new visitors.” She let out Coal and Aliza, the young ponyta snorting as she was finally able to stretch out. Devra quickly explained things to them before a loud cry was heard from the side of the house. “Oh boy...give me a second.” She got up and quickly put some space between the little group and the hoard of Pokémon coming at her. She soon disappeared in a mass of excited cries, her laugher still being heard.
This was...expected. Peach had caught Devra chatting on her phone across videos to a lot of these Pokemon, all shapes and sizes, so she took a perch on the fence out of the way, and let the mob rush over and get their affection out of their systems. The poor girl within the crowd was far from unhappy about it all, they seemed like relatively well behaved Pokemon. While the ruckus went on, she release her darling fire type, who shook her whole body thoroughly, hating the feel of pokeballs, sending little embers out of her fine fur, before seeing the group, and scaling a tree to be as far out of the way as possible. Peach looked up to her, a small almost unnoticeable grin on her face. “you’re probably right to get some distance, never been one for socialising hey buddy.” She grumbled, folded her legs up under her and sat like a loaf in the tree.
As Devra made her rounds through the mob, four figures bounded over to the grumpy woman. Two of them were applin, both rolling around at her feet. Then a smaller than normal dreepy floating slightly behind the excited little ponyta that stood happily in front of peach.
The quad of new and quite familiar Pokemon approached, Peach for once had no snacks in her pockets, fresh from the airport with its restrictions, she rummaged to no avail.
“ah sorry guys, I normally have snacks on me, I’ll have to go shopping sometime soon.” Instead holding her hand out to see if they wanted to sniff. The applin had her attention in particular, her trip to Galar was cut short due to a medical emergency back at the labs, so she never had a chance to catch any or observe them. “you’re all certainly very strong looking aren’t you.” The ponyta reminded her of home, in a weird way, growing up with the species just being around, she became use to them from an early age, though this youngster was Galarian and very different in appearance.
Devra looked over at peach and grinned, seeing her with four particular Pokémon. She managed to make her way over to the little group, her Gardevoir holding onto her harm as she went. “Looks like you met your surprise.”
“my what?” She was a little dense at times, head empty. By this point they’d gotten a bit closer to her, she had been able to pet them all a little, besides the Dreepy who was a little more shy from the looks of it. Val stayed high up and observed quietly, she was use to sharing her human, this was not new to her.
“Your surprise! You were so excited when you saw the Pokedex entries for applin, and curious about Dreepy. So I thought I’d get you a gift for all the help you’ve given me. The ponyta is kind of a bonus. The dreepy has gotten kind of attached to him, so I don’t think it would be smart to split them up.” She laughed as she was hugged buy the gallede as well, the two obviously fond of their human.
“wow, that’s really thoughtful of you, you know you didn’t have to do all this right? But thank you regardless.” Peach didn’t think she’d be getting a few team mates so fast, some may have to go home for now, they’d be too young for battling in the Crown Tundra just yet. “‘what do you all think then? You want to see if we get along? Don’t have to stick with me if you gave it a try and don’t enjoy it, but it’d be nice to get to know you all a lot more for sure.” She directed her questions to the Pokemon before her, not focusing on the little ghost type too much to not freak them out. It would certainly be nice to have the company, and there was no other fox pokemon so Val wasn’t bothered by their presence at all. With so many around it really felt a bit more like home.
Devra laughed as the applin bounced happily. “Oh don’t you worry. They’ve been super excited to meet you. I’ve been telling all about you and what you do for Pokémon. The dreepy has been excited too, but he’s just a little shy.”
“oh! So you all knew me before I even knew you, well that explains why you all came over so quickly.” The woman laughed a bit, noticing Val descend from the tree behind them, sitting bout a meter back from the others, there was a shimmer you could almost not notice around her, she was putting up a barrier to give herself some space, but seemed rather calm and not at all in discomfort around these new faces. Peach shifted to the side a bit, gesturing to her beloved partner. “well then everyone, meet Valka, she’s...well, family. hopefully you’ll all get along and learn a lot from each other. If you’re worried or want some advice, please ask me or Val and we’ll try to help.” Her attention shifted to the Dreepy who was still hiding a bit behind the Ponyta.
“‘Ah, and don’t worry little guy-“ her eyes glanced about secretively, trying to be a little less scary with her expressions, softening as she whispered a little to him. “‘you and me can be shy together, I’m not great with big crowds or lots of eyes on me either. If you ever think it’s too much for you, you can hide behind me and I’ll scare off whoever’s bothering ya, I’ll be the brave one when you can’t.” She did laugh, this wasn’t the first shy Pokemon she’d had to handle, and they had a lot of love to give normally, just took time to get them comfortable. Her attention now off of him, she let Val so her usual thing, advance to the group, sit in her lap, and discuss with the others, get ting to know them a bit. One applin seemed happy to crawl up onto the professors shoulder, the other wiggling up next to her leg where she sat.
“‘honestly Dev they’re all darlings, I’m sure we’ll all get along great in time.”
She grinned happily as she watched Peach with the little group. “I’m really glad it worked out. I was a little nervous that they still might be too shy. Well, besides the dreepy. Oh!” She dug in her bag and pulled out an odd looking apple. “I almost forgot this! It’s a Sweet Apple. You can use it to evolve one of the applin into an appleton.” There was a happy rumble from behind her as her own Appleton stepped forward. “There’s another apple called a Tart apple that can get you a flapple like mine too. But I haven’t been able to find one yet.”
The mention of the specific fruits found in Galar caught the professors attention, also noticing the big rounded Pokemon approach upon seeing it. The Appleton was actually surprisingly small for a dragon type, shin height, and possibly the cutest looking thing peach had seen in a while. She accepted the fruit thankfully and had to look it over, sniffing it, and all too tempted to take a bite to figure out what it’d be best suited to, from the name, it’d be a really good eating apple, the tart one however would be a cooking sort no doubt.
“ill have to keep my eye out, I must have missed this all last time I was here, good thing you kept your eyes peeled for this.” She let everyone of the new youngsters around her have a chance at looking over the apple too, even Val took a sniff. It was always good to let them see as much of the world as possible, and all the items it contained.
“Maybe one of the pair will like the chance to evolve one day, they’ve probably had time while staying here to meet your pair of Pokemon who chose to evolve, so who knows.” She looked to the two Applin who she had become very fond of quite quickly, they had surprisingly big personalities for such small species, giving each other grief at any given opportunity, like bickering siblings. “they’ll figure it out when they are ready.”
She smiled as she glanced back at the house, waving to her mom as she came to meet them now that the chaos had settled down. “My moms name is Olivia by the way. Not sure if I told you that.”
“you did not.” She said matter of factly, and stood to greet the woman who looked very happy to see her daughter. The woman herself had a fair bit of resemblance to Devra, they shared a few mannerisms too peach noticed while offering a smile and a handshake, which did slightly throw Olivia, she had intended to go for a hug, but saw the social queue and changed it up.
“it’s really nice to meet you, you’re daughters been a real asset out in Johto, you should come and visit her some time perhaps, see what she gets up to.”
Olivia smiles warmly at Peach as she shook hands with her. “It’s wonderful to finally meet you as well Professor. Devra has told me so much about you and the island. I’ll have to make a trip out some time. I’ve been meaning to take a holiday for some time now.” She then turned to her daughter and gave her a massive hug, inviting both of them inside for a rest before they continued their trip.

With things in order the pair moved out of the barn, into the cold breeze that began to pick up through the morning. Val tagged along by peach’s side as per usual. They wound their way towards Greys home from home, a water type area, and the treatment plant for the drinking water on the island. You could just make it out down the road.
“don’t feel like you have to take them, but I suppose it saves us finding another place to rehome him...”
She shrugged as they walked, enjoying the view of the island. “I know. But it still won’t hurt getting to know the little one. You never know! We might just hit it off.”
Peach knew the Pokemon pretty well, and quite frankly it was difficult not to love him. They came to a halt outside the water treatment building, inside you could see Professor grey talking to a visiting trainer, busy with work.
“‘let’s try the side door.” The woman waved to Devra to follow her, round the side to a slightly overgrown entrance. You had to step on thorny vines and dodge nettles as you went but it was otherwise easy to get to.
Devra carefully stepped over the thorns as best she could, trying to keep from getting scratched. “I didn’t even know there was a side door. Guys you guys don’t use it too often with all the brambles.”
“‘we put it in for busy days, and it counts as a fire exit, though I’ll have to come back to clear the area a bit, this isn’t up to code.” She was annoyed it had slipped her off her plate, but she would get it fixed quickly. The growth was only one seasons worth, so nothing unmanageable. “‘I guess with grey using the big double doors, most of the time we don’t have to slink around the side.
The room beyond the door was a little small, it looked like a break room come kitchen, with a slender staircase up to one side, and a door at the back that from the layout you could tell lead into the main room with the pool and big doors at each end. Peach began to climb the staircase, coming up to a reasonably long space, a few plants, a desk, some chairs, and a large sleeping houndoom, monitoring several puppy Pokemon. Two growlithe, one darker in colour, a lillipup with a bright blue bow, a couple of poochyena, one striped a little at its legs, an electrike, and a Pokemon not a lot of trainers would have seen before. It’s body was stocky like a houdour, with the bright cream mane and fur of growlithe, a sweet looking hybrid of a momma arcanine, and the houndoom dad that guarded them all, one of Professor Greys older team mates, and a part of the household in the evenings. Peach gave a whistle and the lot came over to say hello.
Devra gasped excitedly when she saw the pack of puppy Pokémon. She knelt down right away and was soon swarmed by the little ones. She never got tired of dog Pokémon, being one of her favorite group of Pokémon for their use in herding. “Oh my gosh look at all of you!” She gave everyone attention in turn, then came to the hybrid. “Is this who you wanted me to see?” She squished her own cheeks as see looked the pup over. “He’s adorable!”
The messy ball of cream and black fur was a people Pokemon, he saw his chance to be adored and took it, jumping into Devra’s lap with a very playful expression.
“eeeeyup, he’s the runt of our last litter, a real character though, even if he is a little small at the moment. You can look after him leading up to the trip if you like, get to know him a bit. You two might like to travel together during the Tundra trip.”
Devra busied herself ruffling his fur and smushing his face as Peach talked. “Oh my gosh I’d love to get to know him! Just look at this sweet boy!” She looked up at the Professor as she pressed her cheek to the pup’s. “Does he have a name?”
He was lapping up the attention, some of the other Pokemon joining in with play. The older houndoom sat beside Peach overseeing the little ones, keeping them from getting out of hand with little huffs and looks.
“nope, he’s not got a name yet, we never got round to picking one.”
She flopped back onto the floor, always ready to be swarmed by puppies. “Well we’ll just have to fix that. Every big strong Pokémon needs a good name. Makes me feel special. Isn’t that right big guy?” She ruffled his cheek fur as she was licked in the ear by the lillipup.
“‘maybe time together will present you with an adequate name, there’s no rush to find one for him, can change them whenever you like now days.” The pups swarmed then dispatched to play with toys, leaving the hybrid behind with Devra where she sat.
Devra laughed as they went off, giving the little guy a good chin scratch. “I love him Peach. Will Grey be okay with me watching him?” She looked over at the houndoom and smiled. “I hope dad is okay with it too.”
“he was up here with the others because these lot were lol going to be potentially rehomed tomorrow. If you take him, it won’t make much difference, no one had a reserve or anything on the little guy. And as for dad?” She looked to the big guy who was quite old now, had had many pups, and was quite happy to see them go, he liked his peace and quiet when not out with his trainer. “‘Nah, this ones good, he’s Grey’s loyal bud, he doesn’t have a lot of time for child rearing most of the time, he’s only really here because he’s a good child minder.” The woman laughed a bit, that old fleabag of a houndoom was always lolloping around the house, making an excellent door stop or foot rest.
“we trust you’ll look after them, there’s not too much between them and growlithe, so you should be just fine care wise.”
Devra grinned as she hugged the little guy tight. She then got up and went over to the houndoom, kneeling down to be on eye level with him. “I promise I’ll take good care of your pup.” She then got up and turned to the little one, opening her arms and calling him over. He barked happily and leapt into her arms. She had a few more words with Peach before making her way back to her little world on the island.

With autumn slowly creeping in, the team was busy every day, getting ready for the winter to come. The crops looked good, morning dew on them as the professor stumbled out with a few Pokemon, taking them out for a morning stretch and bathroom break. She ambled about the garden, mindlessly eating a berry or two, pulling the odd weed out, while sipping coffee in the quiet. It wouldn’t be long before the Galar region was to open a new area up to the general public, and seeing as the team now had a galarian resident on it, the woman decided it’d be wise to go back and get the remainder of Devra’s Pokemon. They’d been stashed at her family home from what she had gathered, and now the gates were being fully opened, they could apply to move to johto, to the island. She had to admit, the idea of the tundra area becoming accessible was a little daunting, peach had never been too resilient in the cold. Perhaps this would be a good test for her. Val was going to come along for this trip, she planned to just go for a field visit with her Pokemon, but with Devs enthusiasm to explore too, it seemed wise to team up and go together on the trip. The young intern had been steadily learning, and because of her, Peach was freed up to do more work in other areas, now less busy with the herds of non-grass types. She did however get to visit for fun more, which she had to admit was enjoyable. Secret meetings with the stantler had become her lunch breaks as of late, they all seemed very calm with the big leader around, Donut, peach’s dear baby boy. Sadly he couldn’t come with her on the trip, he would have been a perfect fit for the area and it’s cold.
Perhaps it’d be nice to just start fresh, see who she ended up with as a team. Her hand found Val mid thought, petting her stupidly warm body. At least they could get some time together. Val had been so upset about not being able to go to Galar the first time round, so now was the chance to make it up to the Pokemon.
Devra was up an hour before sunrise, a rhythm to her day now that just came easily to her now. She would get up, get dressed for the days needs, then feed her main team of Pokémon first. Once they were taken care of she made her way outside, heading over to the main stable and barn of her little pocket of the island. She went inside and flicked on some of the lights, not wanting to startle the sleeping Pokémon awake. Never the less, she was still greeted by some happy calls from stalls scattered around the building, the Pokémon inside having grown used to Devra’s routine by now. She grabbed her push cart full of different feed mixtures, humming to herself as she started feeding everyone down one side of the building then working her way back down the other side. The last stall she always took care of was that housing her favorite family. Her partner Pokémon Fiona was laying in hay next to her mate, Peach’s Pokémon Titan. While they still dozed there was already a nose poking over the stall door, little Aliza always excited to see her mom’s favorite human.
Not too long after her coffee, peach had thrown an outfit on, and ambled towards the stables, she needed a mount today, and figured it was a good time to pop across, see how everyone was doing. A few members of the barn groups had to be checked on, at least once or twice a week, peach could leave the busy work to Devra and she appreciated it, but still had to go do the general health checks needed to keep everyone monitored, especially as the winter was threatening to roll in heavily. She kicked the door too a bit, Val going in first, clocking Devra, leaning over the stall door to pet the young ponyta. Upon seeing peach Titan stretched his neck as high as possible, able to see over the stall doors, giving a cry to ‘come over here’.
“morning everyone, Dev, Fiona, lil baby bean lady. She smushed Alisa’s little face briefly before focusing on her big fire type who stayed lying down. “Buddy, parenthood has slowed you down.” She teased the Rapidash, his body finally getting up, looking more sprightly now, putting his entire face in hers, hot gross morning breath and all.
Devra had moved down a few stalls by the time the Professor came in. She had just opened the door to the pasture, letting out a handful of wooloo out so she could clean their stall. She grinned she heard her name called. “Morning Professor! Hi Valka!” She dusted herself off and went to join them, grinning as she watched Peach. “Titan had a particularly rude wake up call today. Aliza tried to jump over him again. Failed terribly though. Knocked the wind out of both of them for a second. I watched them though. They both got over it quick. And Fiona gave the little bean a good scolding.” She sighed, giving her own rapidash attention as she finally got up to the door.
“certainly giving them both a lot to deal with day to day. She’s getting so boisterous now.” Aliza was running in and out of the entry to the paddocks, running circles around a stray girafarig, small in size but otherwise ordinary looking. “you been spending time with her recently? She’s about ready to start doing some proper training, got all that energy and no where to direct it.” With a final pat to the family, they seemed happy to go out to graze.
the professor wandered from stall to stall, some Pokemon remaining in to avoid the morning frost, greeting her as she passed by. “‘have you given any thought to who to take with you on our trip back to Galar?” She mindlessly hung up any stray harnesses, returning items to their homes.
She followed along with the Professor, opening doors and adding water or feed here and there as they went. “I’m not sure. I was thinking Zek or Fiona. But Zek has gotten really into it with the bug community around here. The little ones love playing with him so much. They use him as a slide! But I think he really likes it too. He never turns them down. And Fiona...I think she’d like to stay with her man. We don’t know how long we’re going to be there after all.” She sighed, rubbing her neck as she let out three Kanto ponyta. “It’s a real head scratcher.”
The colder climate was an oncoming issue to prep for, hearing she had thought through taking Zek was very logical. That centiscorch had a lovely nature to travel with.
“‘how about the youngster, Aliza. She’s about ready to start seeing the world, and we won’t be gone for too long.” The family looked happy out in the field, but it was noticeable how much energy the little hybrid ponyta had now. The professor stooped to pet a passing wumple, placing him higher up to avoid getting stepped on.
“‘there’s also potentially one other Pokemon you might want to see before you make your mind up, rung of the litter, a bit scrappy but a good strong hybrid.” She left a lot of details out, the Pokemon she had in mind for the trip was a particularly fun little guy, but they had yet to home him. Perhaps this would be a good fit for both the Pokemon and Devra.
Devra finished the last of her tasks, closing the stall as she turned to Peach. “I was entertaining the idea of taking Aliza. It would be nice to have a good strong bond with her.” She brushed herself off again as they left the barn. “Well, if you think it’s a good idea to take a look then I’d love to see the little guy.”
The last time peach had checked the Pokemon in question was up near the water plant. Professor Grey was the owner of the young pokemons father, a rather gentle houndoom, who had been a household pet to both peach and grey for a fair few years now. The mother of the Pokemon was an arcanine, and having had her pups and completed her rehabilitation, she had since been rehomed, along with several brothers and sisters, all beautiful hybrids. The last, however, was very small and so he stayed behind and got extra care. Peach had been overly quiet, forgetting to speak out loud sometimes.
“I think you’ll really like them, they’re a bit different.”
Devra grinned as her friend Mel, a sweet little Chatot came over to join her. “I’m always up to meeting new Pokémon. And you know I’m a sucker for different. That part of the reason I’m so excited to go explore the Crown Tundra.”
She nodded once in response and glanced up at the clock hanging at the end of the barn.
“want to go now? Not got any patients until later today.”
She looked around the barn, doing one last run through of her mental checklist. “I’ve got the morning rounds done. And anyone that wants in the pasture is already outside. So I don’t see why we can’t go now.”

Hi, I'm a coworker of David's and I have his phone right now for reasons. What do you think about the Crown Tundra? Is it similar to where you grew up? - Stacy
We haven’t arrived there just yet! I grew up in the sleepy little village of Postwick. I gets cold there during the winter but no where near as cold as the Crown Tundra does from what I’ve been told. I’m really looking forward to exploring it though! I’ve always loved the snow. @prof-peach on the other hand...she hates the cold. I think she’s going to use a Pokémon as a living heater while where there. But I’m sure we’ll both have a good time.

Big news everyone! I’m heading home to Galar! But don’t worry. I’m not leaving Professor Peach’s staff. I’m going to be exploring a new area that’s been opened to approved trainers. And Peach is coming with me! Having concurred my league challeng and becoming a champion of Galar I was given a quick okay to going to the tundra, and I’m allowed to bring another qualified trainer with me. Being the amazing professor she is, I invited Peach and the trip is going to be a research opportunity for the both of us. Peach will be studying the area in general, and I’ll be focusing on my usual variant and herd Pokémon research. But there’s other rumors about the area I’ll be keeping an eye on. Hope you all look forward to hearing about the trip! I think Peach will share her journey too, but you never know with her. See you all there!

Hello from Alola everyone! Things are going slowly here still, but I’ll be posting some Alola updates soon. As some of you might know I work for @prof-peach , gathering data about Pokémon variants while I travel and see the world. Later this month however I’ll be heading back to Dōtaku island to meet up with Peach. We’re planing on doing some research in the field together, something I’m very excited for. Now I’m not sure where we’re going just yet, I haven’t heard that from the Professor, but I’m looking forward to learning more things from her and adding it to my own tool kit.

I might not be a professor yet, but I’m studying under Professor Peach to be the best herd Pokémon specialist I can be.
Hi, I love your work! I'm looking for more content like yours. Do you know any other professors who also blog about their work that I could follow?
They come and go in passing, I can’t recall any off the top of my head, terrible with names and memory outside of work.
So!
CALLOUT POST FOR OTHER PROFESSORS. Pop what you do and where you’re located in the Pokemon world, let folks know you enjoy creating the same kind of content!
Least now you can follow anyone who adds to this, and find others who may handle species you’re more interested in, or need info on.

(((((This is a message from your friendly blog admin here! I’m so so sorry that posts have been basically nothing, but life has had me super tired lately. In the last month I started a new job providing in home care for the elderly, home health aid if you will, so I’m gone most of the day, and I work five to six days a week. But fear not! I’m getting myself worked up to being able to post about more of Devra’s travels soon. Not to mention the fact that the Alola games are very text heavy XD so please hang in there everyone. I know it’s not the most exciting blog and doesn’t have art to go with every post, but I do have fun doing this)))))

Alola! Welcome to Alola, I’m a trainer from Akala so if you have any questions about the Alola Region or Island Challenge let me know and I might have answers. While I haven’t done the Island Challenge I do know a fair bit about it as I do help out by being a training partner for participants.
That’s amazing! Thank you so much for the offer. I wish I could make it to Akala sooner, but I’ve just been so busy on the first island helping Professor Kukui and gathering info for Professor Peach that things have been very slow going. I’ll definitely look you once I make it there. But I’ve also got a big announcement I’ll be making later today. So keep an eye out for that!

It’s been a busy few days. Getting packed, booking passage, getting paperwork done, finding a place to stay. This trip has been very busy and I’ve only been in Alola for a day! I met Professor Kukui today, and I got to say being around him is draining. Do t get me wrong! He’s such a nice person! But being around such an energetic person so much makes me feel so tired some times. Being around @prof-peach so much has gotten me used to a very used energy, but other than that things are going great. I’ve already met my new partner Pokémon, a Rowlet I’ve named Elliot. I’ve also decided to start the Alola Island Challenge to make getting around the islands easier. Here’s hoping I can find some amazing variants while I’m here!

Long time no update everyone! I’m so sorry for the wait. My trip back to Dōtaku Island took a little longer than I had originally planned. Atlas took quite a while to settle into life on the island, but I think he’s at a safe place to leave again. This brings me to my next point of interest. I’ve been hearing rumors of very unique Pokémon in Alola and Kalos, as well as Sinnoh. So I’ve decided to put my Johto adventure on hold. But the hard part is I’m not sure which region is like to go to next. Do any of you have a vote for my next trip into the field? And don’t worry! I am planning to go back to Johto to finish the gym challenge there. There’s just so much more to explore that I can’t keep in one area right now. I’ve been bitten by the wonder lust bug.
