ꜱᴛᴀʀ ꜱɪɢɴ: Aquarius Sun - Sagittarius Moon - Leo Rising

ʜᴇɪɢʜᴛ: 6'2" (188cm)

ᴏʀɪᴇɴᴛᴀᴛɪᴏɴ: Gay

ɴᴀᴛɪᴏɴᴀʟɪᴛʏ/ᴇᴛʜɴɪᴄɪᴛʏ: American with a English, Swedish, Russian, and Cajun background

ꜰᴀᴠᴇ ꜰʀᴜɪᴛ: Mango--he misses the fruit cups he used to get back home in Houston. It was always his go-to treat whenever he went into the city.

ꜰᴀᴠᴇ ꜱᴇᴀꜱᴏɴ: Autumn, he likes seeing the leaves change colors when he visits his coven's family estate. He also likes the cold, crisp air--and everyone knows Autumn is spooky season.

ꜰᴀᴠᴇ ꜰʟᴏᴡᴇʀ: Black Dahlias--Black Narcissus Dahlias to be exact.

ꜰᴀᴠᴇ ꜱᴄᴇɴᴛ: Cannabis--not just because he's a very frequent user, but because it reminds him of home. Casey and Baz were cannabis farmers. He remembers the way they used to smell when they would come back inside from tending to their crops, or the way the greenhouse smelled when he was a bit older and began to help them tend to their plants. It's a comforting smell to him. He associates it with happy memories.

ᴄᴏꜰꜰᴇᴇ, ᴛᴇᴀ, ᴏʀ ʜᴄ: Salem's very much a coffee guy--preferably iced coffee. But he enjoys a good hot chocolate too, he won't say no to one. He's not the biggest fan of tea and likely avoids hot tea as much as he can. Though, he'll still drink it if a ritual or spell calls for it. If he were to drink tea, it's gotta be iced. Salem's an iced drink type of guy.

ᴀᴠᴇʀᴀɢᴇ ʜᴏᴜʀꜱ ᴏꜰ ꜱʟᴇᴇᴘ: It depends what's going on. Most of the time, he gets his full eight hours--though it's usually during the day. The times when he's most restless is when he's upset about something or if old memories are keeping him awake. Although, when he's on tour, he doesn't get much sleep at all. Maybe he'll be able to squeeze in about three hours, four if he's lucky--but otherwise, he's mostly running on caffiene. This is around the time when he starts wanting to wrap it up and go home.

ᴅᴏɢ ᴏʀ ᴄᴀᴛ ᴘᴇʀꜱᴏɴ: He seems more of a cat person. Which is funny, considering his friend group consists of mainly werewolves.

ᴅʀᴇᴀᴍ ᴛʀɪᴘ: Salem really wants to see the Northern Lights in person. He hasn't found the opportunity to, but he'd like to travel to wherever the best view of those is. The Southern Lights are also on his bucket list.

ꜰᴀᴠᴏᴜʀɪᴛᴇ ꜰɪᴄᴛɪᴏɴᴀʟ ᴄʜᴀʀᴀᴄᴛᴇʀ: Not a specific character, but Salem tends to like slashers from various horror flicks. No particular reason why, of course. Definitely doesn’t wear the masks or have his partner wear the mask while with him. Certainly not.

ɴᴜᴍʙᴇʀ ᴏꜰ ʙʟᴀɴᴋᴇᴛꜱ ᴛʜᴇʏ ꜱʟᴇᴇᴘ ᴡɪᴛʜ: During the summer, Salem sleeps with a lightweight comforter and the flat sheet beneath that. If he’s having a particularly warm night, he’ll ditch the comforter all together. During the winter, however, he'll swap the comforter for something much more thick. He'll layer up if he has to: flat sheet, comforter, and another blanket over that. Salem gets cold pretty easily, so he'll roll himself up into a burrito until all you see are tuffs of dark hair sticking out. As per Salem’s usual aesthetic, he prefers darker colored sheets.

ʀᴀɴᴅᴏᴍ ꜰᴀᴄᴛ: Salem has a bit of an online presence with his fanbase, which begins to pick up after he successfully completes rehab. Sometimes he interacts with fans, answering questions they send him either honestly or with a not very serious answer--depending on his mood and what the question is. Other times, he'll stream his music making process, giving others a peek into what it is he does and how his creative process works. It's one of the rare moments Salem lets others take a glance into his personal life. He won't really admit it, but there was a brief period when he was getting himself together where he went through a bout of loneliness--after having cut his former toxic entourage loose. Not having anyone to spend time with--he began to stream and sought company through his supporters. It's not something he does too often, maybe once every other week or so. But it's a big of a sign of growth--Salem allowing himself to open up and allow himself, as a person, to be known.

the knife by maggie rogers

aside from the obvious imagery of the knife, i feel like this song perfectly describes zayis and astarion's relationship. with lyrics that essentially hint at a very complicated dynamic that comes out of nowhere, i envision a lot of zay's struggles when i hear it.

also, i feel like the two bridges definitely correlate perfectly to the development of their relationship as well.

another zaystarion relationship song, this one i feel like speaks more to their more toxic side and how they have issues seeing eye to eye. a lot of lyrics are pretty vague but i interpret it as two people who know they're wrong for each other but stick it out in the hopes of finding a love they both desire.

seventeen going under by sam fender

out of all the songs on this list, i'd say this the one that perfectly describes zay as a whole. as a very stubborn character who's experienced a lot of hardships, a lot of her emotional responses devolve into anger. and i feel like this song perfectly captures those feelings in the lyrics.

i was far too scared to hit him, but i would hit him in a heartbeat now, that's the thing with anger, it begs to stick around

another zaystarion "love is complicated" song. the lyrics are just so perfect and this song especially just ugh —i just love it. it's literally on all of their playlists i make of them :')

every time i think of the differences in zay's various relationships, i think of this song. specifically because i think it proves the juxtaposition of how the group sees her vs. how she sees herself.

as the party leader, they often see her as this brave and often enraged woman who refuses to run from anything. whereas she sees herself as a coward who's always running from point a to point b trying to find meaning without actually doing the work.

for example: when she runs away from home instead of standing up to her father or running away from astarion after he admits his feelings for her multiple times throughout the story.

but your sweet sinless sensation is not my style and i'm not giving up but tell me if i run away how long will i bleed?

Seven Snippets, Seven People

Thanks to @chayscribbles for the tag!

Here’s seven snippets from my WIPs, mostly The Claws of the Ounce.

The cycles of the moon were constant and predictable, in contrast to the lives of mere mortals like Ash. Her life was more like one of the streetlights overlooking the parking lots, an unreliable flickering thing which always seemed on the verge of being extinguished.

“What kind of piercings do you want to get?” Daphne rested her chin on her hand. “I don’t think you ever told me.” “Earrings, probably. Maybe some other stuff, I don’t know yet. You’ll get to see when I come back. Take a good long look, this is the last time you’ll ever see me unmodded —” Ash quickly caught herself. “I mean, unpierced.”

But enough of that. Enough of trying to connect. Tonight he would settle for the solitary pleasures of watching the tiny ball spin around the roulette wheel and the warm August air on his skin and maybe a quick feathered snack if he got the chance. Such creature comforts had always been enough for him. And yet Mailhairer felt like something was missing. As he returned to the roulette table, he looked around the room, hoping to catch sight of her silver hair or scent of her cherry perfume.

“What’s taking so long?” Orion asked, and Ash’s brain flipped the PANIC switch. Heart racing, she silently screamed at her fingers. Unsheathe, damn you! UNSHEATHE! There was a painless pressure under her nails, lifting them up like a window being pried open with a crowbar. She watched in morbid fascination as feline claws slid out from beneath, first just the tip and then more and more until the whole curved thing was out.

Under Ash’s watchful eye, the steak came out safe for typical humans to eat. There was no seasoning, though, on account of Mailhairer not keeping any herbs in the house. (He did propose dumping the contents of a tea bag out onto it, which was met with a muttered unison of “what the hell?” from the two women.)

It was a refreshing notion, to think you’d already reached the peak of all possible achievement. But not everybody was content to believe it. There had to be something more, they said, something out there waiting to be discovered. Things couldn’t stay the same forever. In the valleys of the Zai Mountains, such people were called “restless-hearted”. The term was half an insult and half a call for pity. Lo, behold the person who would never accept what this life had to offer.

“Didn’t you say you weren’t hungry?” Cameron teased him. “I’m not. Not really. But you know the nectar calls to me.” That was one of their little in-jokes. The forest called to Cameron, and the nectar called to Rocco. The deeper meaning, according to Rocco, was that nectar was commonly found in the forest, so this was something about how they were meant for each other.

Dazai and Chuuya are seasoned mafiosos at the ripe old age of almost-seventeen. They’ve fought gang wars, interrogated prisoners, and done all manner of unspeakable things. Now, they face their greatest challenge yet: going (undercover) to a real high school. With regular teens (who may or may not be desperately trying to get them to kiss). One thing’s for sure: this school is unprepared for the absolute calamity that is Double Black.
