sotw is so close to my heart and i admire you and your writing so much. the snippets you posted are so good and it’s so interesting to think about what could’ve been! something that is so interesting to me in the fic is sam and dean’s relationship. i wonder every time i read sotw what the future holds for their relationship?

this is a feast of a question. I'll tell you what I know:

there's just over a week between when Sam leaves and when he's set to start school. just before he's due to go back (and just after Dean rescues Zeppelin), he gets a call from Dean. at first he assumes Dean is calling to make amends for John and try to woo him back home one day, same old story. but Dean says he's broken from John, intends to become Sam's guardian, and also he's gay and dating Cas. honestly all the John stuff is more real and relevant to Sam in that moment. the gay thing is a surprise but Dean's pretty much like, "if you have questions just talk to Charlie, she knows" and I think Sam is pretty much in the best environment in that regard

the first time Sam comes home is, logically, Christmas. Dean and Cas just got the new farmhouse in November. part of Sam wanted to stay at school, because it feels weird going "home" out of tradition or comfort when this isn't your childhood home and everything's changed and he doesn't know what he feels. I also happen to know that Cas is the one to pick him up at the airport, unexpected because Dean got called away last minute with something unavoidable. and it's kind of good because Sam gets to ask and find out for himself that Cas doesn't think of Sam as encroaching on their space. that it was part of the conversation from day 1 that this was Sam's home too

and you know. YOU KNOW how excited Dean is to show all this stuff to Sam! the lights he put up, and a tree, and he's made a WHOLE BUNCH of food. like, it's a modest house that needs a lot of work and he and Cas are just scraping by, but he's made sure Sam's room is nice and there are presents for him and I think for the first time, Sam actually sees that Dean wants his approval. and when he finds out Dean is actually making plans to leave town and visit Sam in California for his birthday, he's surprised by Dean and understands just how much he's grown and changed without John around

they also have a conversation about John. to put it to rest. obviously Dean hates that but Sam insists he doesn't want to be kept out of it, that he was always affected by it to even if he wasn't allowed to be made part of it and understand what was going on. he wasn't actually left out of it, ever, and I think when Dean gives in and agrees to talk about it just this once, he realises how deep it went. and how Sam didn't even always have the connections that Dean had to other people in town, and that there were reasons Sam felt isolated. and Sam would ask the big question, does he think John's dead? (Dean doesn't know.) does Dean want him to be dead? (Dean never wants to see him again. but it doesn't comfort him to think of John dead rotting in a ditch.) (Sam, like the rest of us, doesn't seem bothered by this prospect.)

and, of course, a word about Dean and Cas. that first night Sam is home you just know Dean won't fall asleep and is whispering to Cas all the things like: "do you think he's doing good? he seems good"; "do you think he likes the place? maybe I should repaint his room"; and "is he okay with us, though? for real?" and on this Cas is able to assure him that on that drive from the airport, the only question Sam really asked was if Dean was finally happy

Do you have a spreadsheet that helps you keep track of the charms? I am highly impressed by how skilled you are in handling it. You must have a very good memory. Great job and good luck on continuing!

I've tried a bunch of things, spreadsheets included, but the system I've settled on is copypasting the whole ask of a charm (so I can search the exact wording on the blog to find the post) into one of several word docs:

One doc for charms sitting in drafts (because I need to find something to offer in exchange, and write/link the answer)

One doc for charms that are answered and in the queue (can be browsed for trades and the giving-away written out, but can't link to them until they're published)

One doc for for charms that are currently available: posted and not given away yet

One doc for all the charms given away (currently 91 pages long, single spaced!)

All docs except the last are divided into sections like Pen Drawer, Jewelry, Weapons, Feathers, Lights, Misc, etc. with links to each section at the top of the document. To items easier to skim I'll bold the relevant words, eg. 'dear archivist, here's a pen i'm afraid of, it eats fingers, please take it off my diminished hands'.

And lastly all of the word docs have a date at the top marking the last time I went through it. Before I answer any charm asks, I go through the blog back to that date and update the docs, moving posted charms from queue to available, linking any charms in drafts that were waiting on the charm to be published, and moving those charms to queue.

as for an au where roman fires reader, she'd definitely not take him seriously at first. maybe laugh and tell roman to stop joking around but then does a double take when she realizes he's being forreal </3 roman also tries to alleviate the guilt he feels by repeatedly saying it was logan's decision, not his (don't blame the messenger and whatnot) but reader would be v hurt nonetheless. he'd start spouting out bs like, "i'm doing you a fucking favor, it's for the best, i'm putting the company's interests first, etc." from then, reader would grow furious and tells roman that if he fires her then whatever it was that they had between them would be over. roman, being roman, tells her they never stood a chance in the first place (he doesn't actually believe this, he's just swept up in the argument).

everyone's surprised / shocked when they hear she's been sacked, as she's so close to the family without acc being on the board and also has such a vital role keeping the company afloat. waystar itself would have a terrible adjusting period bcs they really underestimated just how much reader did for them (esp the small things that accumulated in her absence).

she leaves the company upset and bitter at first, but eventually realizes that she can finally live her own life and do what she wants to do without the constraints of the company / the roy family / her own absent parents. reporters are still constantly swarming her, asking her what happened, why she got fired, if she has any plans on going back, etc.

as for her relationship with roman, i can see them reconciliating eventually after a month or two because roman misses her like air and he fucking hates being in his dog cage the company without her there. would spam text her a million times one random day until she finally responds and would demand that she come to a fancy restaurant (he'll pay ofc, he's assumed she's gone totally broke now that she's not working w him), and they meet again and things just fall into place with the two of them :( reader is still pretty angry and hasn't forgiven roman yet, but she's missed him a lot too and couldn't ever permanently estrange herself from roman. as for the other siblings, reader wouldn't really keep in contact with shiv and kendall without roman in the equation, but she still gets check-up texts from connor, which she would briefly but fondly respond to </3

in this au, reader & roman wouldn't romantically get together probably until after the events of season four. they're terribly tragic soulmates in every universe i'm afraid !!

really curious how much of lionheart you had mapped out when you started bc the speed you are posting is so crazy to me like you are jetting through writing books worth of plot and it is wonderful but also girl how?

so the answer for the update speed is that I pre-write the books and take hiatuses in between to finish them, which takes a ton of pressure off and makes it way easier to write! with respect to plotting, i had a really broad outline with major plot beats sketched out from the very beginning, but the specifics of each plot take about a week of solid writing at the beginning of every drafting process. before i write a word of any book i'll sit down with the checkpoints that i've laid down and hash out how to connect them.

so for instance, things like "in book 6, draco [REDACTED] the [REDACTED] because [REDACTED NAME] [REDACTED ACTION] at the end of book 5" are still just vague tentpole ideas for the future, while the chapter-level mechanics of how that's going to work still have yet to be determined. for book 5, more specific notes like "draco and [REDACTED] have a [REDACTED] scene in [REDACTED LOCATION]" appear everywhere. e.g., i knew at the beginning of book 2 when they were going to meet Sirius, how Sirius escapes in Chapter 30/31, and even that draco was going to visit the weasleys in book 4. but some stuff came pretty late — like, for instance, the fact that Cassius was champion didn't occur to me until I'd already written the Sorting with someone else, and then I realized everything worked better if I went back and rewrote a few chapters to incorporate it.
