Does he still love me?

I’ve been feeling for a while that Runaan and Tinker argued before he and Rayla left on their mission. Argued hard, over him taking Rayla with him. Maybe over other things, too--the mission itself and some less-related issues. Behaviors. How, from Tinker’s perspective, Runaan always does what he’s told. Never thinks for himself. Refuses to accept responsibility for what he does, for the results of his own actions. (The Dragon Queen this, the Dragon Queen that) How he’s going to take Rayla, a fifteen-year-old unblooded assassin, on an assassination mission, because he can’t think his way out of it, and on some level doesn’t want to. How can he sit there and think that anything about that decision is okay? Because he’s not deciding. He’s abstaining. He’s dodging, using that DEX 18 for things it was never meant to be used on.

“Runaan, you can dodge swords and arrows all night long, but you can’t dodge this responsibility. You’ll get Rayla killed! You know she’s not ready!”

And Runaan just. Can’t. See. Where Tinker is coming from. He can’t. He’s trained himself too long to be hard enough to do whatever it takes, and that means shutting a lot of options out. He can be flexible as hell on missions, in every way possible. But he can’t think himself out of a wet paper bag when it comes to civilian decisions. Runaan’s honest-to-the-moon too hard.

Runaan and Tinker have often understood each other on several levels at once, and even when they don’t really see where the other is coming from, they trust each other. Moonshadows earn trust slowly, but they keep it close to their hearts once they have it. These two have been through a lot together. But Runaan taking Rayla on this mission was just too much for Tinker. He couldn’t stretch his mind far enough to see what Runaan saw, and that scared him. Runaan had a place so quiet and deadly, so calculating, that Tinker couldn’t reach it. Couldn’t reach him when he went there. (this is where VIren lives, btw, that cold, calculating place--Runaan can absolutely go there too) And Tinker had to decide: Do I turn cold and calculating in order to understand Runaan, or so I draw a line?

Tinker drew the line. Runaan’s the Slytherin, and Tinker’s the Ravenclaw. Only one of these will do whatever it takes, at any cost, and that’s the point where they found themselves. That’s the point where Tinker had to step back and say No. He wasn’t willing to risk Rayla’s life, even if Rayla was. That’s not how you treat your child. But in that moment, saying No to Rayla’s mission meant saying No to Runaan’s plan, and to Runaan. The plan to take Rayla was a reflection of who Runaan is. Runaan felt rejected along with his plan when Tinker objected.

And so they argued. Maybe they separated. Do Moonshadows break up? Separate? Divorce? Somehow these words don’t seem nearly dramatic enough for the breaking of such a hard-won trust between two elves who love each other deeply, but who fundamentally disagree. What did they do?

*whispers* Runaan, Tinker, what did you do?

Does Rayla know? I guess we’ll find out. But at some point before Runaan’s lotus sank, Tinker lost a stripe on his right arm, a gem from his left horn, and the ringed horn tips he was wearing earlier. Did he set them aside with cool logic and hope that Runaan would come to his senses? Did he yank them off, pry that gem out with a screwdriver, and throw them all off a cliff into a raging river? Did he cry? Did he lock himself in his workshop and build things for a week straight? Did he protest the mission, yell at the Dragon Queen?

how long would you say you've actively shipped any of your favorite ships? - im curious specifically about sorvus, sorpeli, and claudiez

I wouldn't say Sorvus is one of my faves even if I do 1) love Soren and Corvus individually, 2) Corvus is one of my favourite side characters in the whole show (like top 5) and 3) I do really like them! That being said:

Canon

For the bulk of TDP ships, canon-wise, I shipped them as their relationships were revealed (aka Harrow/Sarai with the info we got in S1, Claudia/Terry with the info we get in S4, Runaan/Ethari back when he was known as 'Tinker' thanks to the S1 credit sketch, etc).

For Janaya, I shipped them from the first time they met in S2, since "rival intellectually and physically matched generals on the battlefield" along with both being very pretty is a decently long-ish homoerotic trend in literature (aka a production I saw of "Coriolanus" really leaned in on it, although I think I saw that pre-S2's release. Applies though)

For Rayllum, I shipped them pre-show even if I was also down to brotp them. They'd be travelling together, thus having plenty of time to develop an interesting dynamic / were around the same age, and the screencap released before the premiere of them sitting under the tree (Callum, distracted but eager, and Rayla, exasperated and fond) really drew me in since that's a ship type - dynamic and gender wise (I don't tend to love ships where the guy is the more grumpy/guarded one, I think, since women are so often forced to do More of the emotional labour in relationships Anyway) - I'm already Very susceptible to. I tried to hold off a little bit in early S1 cause I didn't want to ship them too hard, but then 1x05 came along with the boat scene and it was Over for me. They've had my heart ever since (5 years going on forever)

Sorvus

So I didn't really ship Sorvus (although I was never opposed to them) for the majority of the time post-S3. I didn't really ship Soren with anyone and preferred Gren/Corvus at that time (due to their personalities / closer dynamic to Amaya and therefore each other) as well as enjoying Corvus/Opeli. However I was also really hoping that Corvus would stay on the council/with Ezran, and figured that if Soren was going to end up with anyone, Corvus was probably the most realistic choice (shared goals, decent development, timeskip to help things, similar ages).

That said I still didn't actively ship them (like I didn't mind them but was completely impassive/neutral y'know?) until I wrote an interaction between them in "if heaven and hell decide" (a canon divergent S2 where Claudia and Soren decide to delay their betrayal of the trio, and therefore travel with them for much longer) and the fact that Corvus would see Soren at his worst in canon (S2) but also see and appreciate who Soren was becoming... I started to turn a corner and grew to ship them a lot more. I'm really excited for them to eventually be canon, it seems, even if they're not My Endgame for either character In My Head for years-post war, at least for now.

Claudiez

For aged up Claudia/Ezran, I think this post (dated July 2021) was when I started to ship these two. There was something about the interplay of Claudia telling Callum about Harrow's death, but he only seeks out comfort from Rayla, and Ezran rejecting Rayla's offered comfort about Harrow and instead accepting it from Claudia, that felt very apt to me? And then a couple weeks later I wrote my formal "I actually do ship Claudiez and here's why" meta so it's been a few years now!

Both the younger sibling uniquely given their father's mantle to carry in ways their older brother just doesn't have to; Ezran being connected to all nature while Claudia continually perverts it, thus Ezran having the relationship to nature that she needs to learn/acquire for her own healing additionally; they both see the throne as a tool to help and breaking their fathers' cycles with each other; the childhood friends to enemies to friends to lovers of an according slow burn because of said age gap; ending up as Queen of Katolis but not the way her father imagined and ending up with one of the brothers, just not the one everyone previously expected; Ezran getting to grow up and into his own and assert his independence and choices (no matter what his brother thinks about it), etc. I also think personality wise they suit each other - Terry's parallels to Ezran in personality are some of the reasons I think Clauderry works at least as a short term pairing.

It's also kinda perfect bc, since they'd only get together like 10-15 years post the end of the show Anyway, so like. they're Endgame to me no matter what and there's nothing canon can really do about it, #improvise adapt overcome.

Sorpeli

This probably started out as the truest crack ship because it started as a joke of like, Soren flirting with her at 20 and easy to dismiss and then again when he's 30 and Opeli is like "I deserve a little fun," so they start having a physical fling, and then catch feelings (Soren falls first, she falls harder). The earliest post I have for them is from May 6th 2023 but I know realistically I'd probably shipped them for a lot longer (what can I say, younger men not being put off my older women aging bc society is bullshit, and contrasting personalities + devoted man & woman who feels undeserving will always get me) before I ever had mind to say anything. Then I dragged @jelzorz into it and the rest, they say, is history. So like 1.5 years at least now?

I'd probably be even more into Sorpeli than I already am but I'm not unconvinced that Opeli won't die (I really hope she doesn't, but I do understand how it could benefit Ezran's narrative in particular) but like if all seasons pass by and she's alive? Canon crack quartet with Endgame Rayllum, Claudiez, Sorpeli, and CorTerry is a go <3

TLDR;

Rayllum before the show started, Janaya in S2, everything else when the ships got introduced, then next we have Claudiez (July 2021), Sorvus (casually since Oct 2021), and Sorpeli (late 2022/early 2023).

How to Overclock Your GPU and CPU in 2022

Step 1 – Preparation

Before you start, take a look at your computer. If you have it plugged into a surge protector or power strip, unplug it. You want only one thing powering your PC while overclocking: that’s right, good old reliable electricity. Now, make sure all other peripherals are turned off as well. And if you haven’t already done so recently, now is a great time to do some routine maintenance on your machine (clean out your fan filters and make sure everything is running smoothly). All set? Good! Let’s get started.

Step 2 –Downloading software:

You’ll need two pieces of software for overclocking. The first is called MSI Afterburner, which can be found here . This program will allow you to overclock your graphics card. The second piece of software you need is called CPU-Z, which can be found here . This program will let you overclock your processor. Download both programs and install them onto your computer.

Note*: Make sure your motherboard and CPU support overclocking.

Step 3 –Overclocking your GPU:

Open up MSI Afterburner. There are three tabs across the top: Core, Memory, and Voltage Control. Click on Core to get started with overclocking your graphics card. First, set Power Limit to 100%. Then click on Core Clock and move it up by 0.5 increments until you start getting artifacts or errors (like crashing games). Don’t go too high! Try to find a sweet spot that gives you an increase of about 10% without causing issues. Once you’ve found a stable overclock, make sure to save your settings before moving on.

Step 4 –Overclocking your CPU:

Open up CPU-Z. You’ll notice that your clock speed is locked at a certain number, depending on what your manufacturer has set it at. For example, my i7 4770k is locked at 4.2GHz, so I have to apply an offset of +100MHz (100 x 4.2 = 422) to unlock it completely. This can be done by moving your mouse over to CPU Core, then right clicking and selecting Add Offset. Next, you need to type in 100MHz under Value and click OK. If you have a different processor or motherboard than me, these settings may be different for you; refer back to your manual if you aren't sure how to do it properly. Once you've added your offset, go ahead and save changes before restarting your computer.

Overclocking is a process of increasing a computer’s processor, GPUs, RAM, etc.. performance, usually by increasing its clock speed. This makes it possible for gamers to increase frame rates, resolution, visual effects—basically anything that affects how a game looks or performs. The process is one of trial and error; it takes some tinkering around with settings before you get your desired result. However, there are many benefits to overclocking: faster load times, more frames per second (FPS), higher resolutions—and all without spending money on a new graphics card or high-end CPU.

Understanding the risks

Before you start overclocking your CPU or GPU, it’s important to understand what overvolting (overclocking) entails. Overvolting is all about increasing voltage supplied by your PC’s power supply unit (PSU). Increasing voltage increases power consumption of your components, which may cause failure. For example, if you increase voltage too much on a chip with a certain TDP (thermal design point), that chip will simply shut down due to overheating. The Dying Planets - Story Intro

TITLE: The Dying Planets (TDP)

STATUS: Planning/Rough Draft (expected length: 30 chapters)

GENRE: Sci-Fi Fantasy, Adventure, Mystery, Space Opera

SYNOPSIS:

Amid growing turmoil across the galaxy, the assassination of the Arch-Seer - a key political figure and head of the Interplanetary Coalition - has resulted in an unprecedented power struggle between warring planet-based crime syndicates and the Interplanetary Coalition who had previously maintained peace between the numerous planets and races in the galaxy.

During all of this, a young thief from Earth with an impressive resume named Bianca is hired to track down and find a woman named Eiko, but Bianca soon finds that she is not the only one interested in this woman. Bounty hunters, outlaws, pirates, marauders and even police officers from the Interplanetary Coalition all race against each other to reach Eiko first. Bianca is left fighting to finish her job while hoping to find answers as to what makes Eiko so important.

Meanwhile, Artemis “the Witch” is an officer in the IC who now leads a newly formed investigation unit that has been assigned to crack down on the criminal activity along with other Investigation units across the galaxy. Her first target is the criminal wanted for the assassination of the former Arch-Seer.

Their paths all cross together, forcing details behind the motivations of their respective parties to come to light. Unraveling Eiko’s importance is the first step in a mystery leading to unlikely alliances, dangerous foes, and a plot that ties the Arch-Seer’s assassination to a 10-year old tragedy that had left the Earth shattered and fissured.

So even though these rumored specs may seem to change often they are not likely to be incorrect. This gives a lot of tinkering time to the final specification of the cards.Īs well as the final cost of the card, there may likely be one of the final parts to be confirmed. Now an expected December 2022 release for the RTX 4090, we may not see the rest till after that. Where initially it was rumored for an early Q3 release it hasn’t in fact released. We may be expecting the cards soonish there are still expected changes right until the release. But it’s not unusual for them to change still so late in the cycle. This also means the total board power has increased by 20W up to 340W total for the extra power. Now the memory is said to still be 16 GB of GDDR6X but now clocked at 23 Gbps, up from 21. Previously, they updated the 4080 board power down to 320 W, where previously the estimated TDP was 420W.īut now with a still unannounced card, the specs have been rumored to have changed.

relationship pairings, or, why I think Ethari always had to be a Moonshadow elf

Remember the ancient days when Ethari was still Tinker and everyone tried to guess what kind of elf he was? Lots of us liked the Sunfire/part-Sunfire option! And then, he turned out to be a Moonshadow elf as well.

I think he kind of had to be, in retrospect.

Let's take a quick look at the various relationships that have fostered since Rayla and Callum met:

Rayla/Callum

Janaya

Lujallen

Clauderry

(and of course the cracky Viravos)

And these are just some of the ships. TDP has a bunch of new dynamics between tribes and peoples, all because Rayla decided to take Zym's egg home to his mom:

Sabah and Marcos

Zym and Ezran

Rayla and Soren

Terry and Viren

Zubeia and... Katolis?

Ibis and Zym (sorry)

Queen Janai and Architect Lucia

These relationships all formed post-eggspotting. But relationships that already existed in the show were more homogeneous. Harrai were both Katolians...

...and Viren, whose wife was from another realm, Del Bar, ended up alone.

Thematically, I don't believe Viren's divorce has anything to do with where Lissa is from. We know why she left.

It's more that having all relationships either localized or broken at the beginning of the show - thus including Ruthari, though we didn't know this yet - does give us a pretty clear worldview on how everyone was living.

They were living in pockets, in bubbles. They were all kind of hunkered for the war, sheltering in place, trusting only that which was safest. That kind of vibe is no way to live happily. You've seen post-apocalyptic shows. You've seen Fox News. Ain't no one super enjoying that existence.

But then, one person makes a brave choice, and she's backed up by people she barely knows because despite everything they do share values. They want peace. They work together, and the world of Xadia sees them do it. They drag Moonshadow footprints into Katolis and human footprints into the Storm Spire, there's Sunfire elf sparkles on human hands, and suddenly everyone is just a little bit less afraid, because they're less alone.

Their world is getting bigger, and better, and kinder, because they're blending together and taking a chance for peace.

Ruthari shouldn't be an exception to this rule. They should uphold it and match the "Before", so that whatever happens after, with each other, with Rayla, with their culture, can contrast with it more brightly.

Ethari had to be a Moonshadow elf.
