December Day 30: Reflect 🪞
#KimickaPhotoADay
Alright, to start, here is my Instagram Top Nine of 2023. Do people still do these? Lol. Pretty solid, if you ask me. My birthday post, a couple of my Most Listened Artists reels, aespa, Ally Carter, Sohee & Sunmi, Taylor Swift, froyo from my brother’s birthday, and one post from this photo a day challenge lol. Now, the next collection of photos are a selfie from every month this year. Lol. And then 4 more selfies that I wanted to share but didn’t fit in the 12 photo collage lol. 2023 was a pretty good year for me overall. There was great music. I had a great birthday. Halloween & Thanksgiving & Christmas were fun. I spent lots of time with family. Yeah, 2023 was good. Here’s to happy memories and looking forward to 2024.

Dear Gus & Magnus,
Magnus has been fighting a cold the last few days and he didn't sleep well last night. He was a grouch this morning -- or as we've taken to calling him lately (much to Gus's delight), a varmint. As we were getting ready to go to the Nicks' for a Mother's Day lunch with Nene, I couldn't do anything to make him happy, so I rocked him in the rocking chair. He immediately fell asleep. I rocked him for a while, then put him in his crib. He slept for a while, making us late for lunch, but we decided it was worth it. And we eventually went over for homemade pizza, then we all gathered up and went to TCBY. Gus got carsick on the short drive over, but it was probably the time he spent on the tree swing just before we got in the car. He never got sick, though, and he eventually mustered the strength to eat some ice cream. If you zoom in on his face, you can see that he's playing up his sickness so as not to have to take a picture with everyone, but the joke's on him because now this picture of him looking like a stoner will live forever in the digital world.
Dad.
North Little Rock, Arkansas. 5.14.2023 - 2.48pm.

Early 90s New Years Day in a record store.
Remember back in the day where everything was closed on New Years Day except the big malls?
I worked at Record World (if you were in NY/NJ/LI in the 80s & 90s you may remember it.) The district manager thought it would be a good Idea to see if being open on that day in a strip mall would work.
He chose the one I worked in. Two of us volunteered to work, knowing full well the only other store in the strip that would be TCBY. would be an easy day.
When things got slow we would throw a ping pong ball, bounce it off a wall, and whatever it landed on we would play. (you get to hear many thing you wouldn't normally pick up)
We'd been playing ping pong toss for hours, watching cars drive by. People wanted the deli & the Italian foods shop, not us. Hell they didn't even want TCBY.
We didn't notice a car stop & park. Then Bruce Springsteen walked in.
Greeted him, threw the ping pong ball, put on something from the jazz section, explained our game, let him know if he needed help finding anything just ask.
He started to make a pile on the counter. "A little late Christmas shopping" he said.
That pile grew.
A couple hours later, a black Amex card & 5,000 dollar sale. He was the only customer that day.
He made our store look amazing. So amazing in fact that the next year upper management decided all the strip & stand alone store in our district would be open NYD. This was told in a conference call "if Carolyn's store can do it, so can you!"
I heard a collective sigh from all the other managers & had to break in "...we only had one sale, Springsteen came in! It wasn't like a real day..." Alas everyone still had to be open.
To this day I secretly blame Bruce Springsteen for retail stores being open on New Years Day.
But I still love him.
~ Carolyn

I love froyo, oh, oh, oh-oh It's so YOLO, oh, oh, oh-oh, oh-oh
Lol. We went to dinner to celebrate my brother's birthday (a week late lol) and afterwards we stopped at TCBY for some Froyo!
My my mom, brother, and I all got these frog gummies b/c they had 3 colors. Lol. I don't don't know what theirs were like, but I had the pink & purple one and I think it was bubble gum flavored lol. Anyway. I had chocolate, white chocolate, and graham cracker. With oreos, fruity pebbles, reeses pieces, white chocolate chips, dark chocolate chips, and brownies for toppings. Lol. The graham cracker froyo was so good! Lol.
(the cringy lyrics at the top are from Froyo Yolo by Dove Cameron from the Disney Channel Show Liv and Maddie lol)

AU idea
Steve has been elevated to manager for Scoops Ahoy but has to transfer to help open a new location.
This Scoops Ahoy is in a bigger town and a bigger mall, with competition.
Billy is the manager at this mall's TCBY (which sells frozen soft serve).
Billy doesn't like losing customers to the new flashy and gimmicky parlor. The regional manager is coming in a couple weeks and sales have been slumping ever since Scoops opened. There's a fat bonus check at stake... and Billy's pride.
The next day the water line to the ice cream coolers ruptures... and wouldn't ya know it? Free samples at the TCBY!
