Of All Things, I Became...
Tumblr media
You always imagined that if you woke up in the world of Genshin, the possibilities of being a Visionless wielder of elements and a slew of romantic shenanigans would lie in your wake. But when you instead find yourself in the body of a Genshin mob with romance likely out of the question, your only conclusion is that the gods of reincarnation isekai hate your guts.
cw. you lost the isekai 50/50 and became a genshin mob
pairing. genshin x reader
notes. i read [of all things, i became a crow] and decided to run with it. i apologize for nothing. i might add more species from genshin depending on my mood lol. this was originally only going to be about an aranara!reader but... i got inspired
Tumblr media
Of All Things, I Became...
... an Aranara
... an Oceanid
... a Geovishap
... a Thunder Manifestation
... an Anemo Slime
So you died and woke up as a Genshin mob. At least you got some cool powers out of it, I guess. Results may vary in trying to get a travel companion out of it though. Not all non-human races in Genshin are created equally, you come to learn.
My Body is Mine Once More
Aranara Edition
Oceanid Edition
Geovishap Edition
Thunder Manifestation Edition
Anemo Slime Edition
After ingesting an elemental crystal, you manage to get your body back! More or less. Not everything about you has returned to normal and if you ever get too emotional, you turn back into your mob form. At the very least, you still are able to use your sick ass powers, so that's a bonus!

Mind if I could have a SAGAU request? So the player is burnt out from the game. Like completely. Some characters find a way to your desktop and ask "Why haven't you entered Teyvat lately?" After explaining that you still like/love them, they are disappointed but understandable. Problem is, they can't go back until you launch the game. So the characters sort of become desktop buddies (Showing my age aren't I?) and perhaps helping you out in the various other games the player would play or just vibing as you surf the web, make arr, write stories, etc. As for the characters... Aether and Paimon at least, though adding Kazuha, Yanfei, Freminet, Bennett, Fischl, Childe, and Collei would be cute too.
Genshin Impact Desktop Buddies
Summary: In which your favourite Genshin characters miss you.
Or now you have them as your desktop buddies until Genshin Impact is fixed.
Pairings: Aether & Paimon, Kazuha, Yanfei, Childe and Fischl x Neutral! Reader!
Note: Desktop buddies are ancient now lol, but honestly such a cool thing to have back then. Hope you enjoy!
Warning: None, just fluffy goodness.
★・・・・・・★
You’re tired. Like really tired.
Grinding for artifacts, ascension and weapon materials has worn you out. That includes your wallet too.
They were worth it, no doubt about that, but staring at a screen all day every day could tire anyone out.
And yea, you need sleep.
For the first time in a long time, you decided to shut down the game, and take at least a few day break.
It’s not like it would make a big difference right?
Little did you know, it most definitely would.
Just a few days later, not only did your laptop started acting weird to the point where you thought of buying a new one, Genshin also disappeared from your desktop.
Before you knew it, you see little figures that look oddly familiar on your screen…
“Why haven’t you entered Teyvat lately?”
Aether & Paimon
The player spun around, eyes widening at the sight of Aether and Paimon now out of the game, and...hopping around on your screen.
"Aether? Paimon? How... how are you here?".
Aether stepped forward.
"Our Creator, we've missed you. The others are worried. Why haven't you been to Teyvat?"
You sighed, has it already been a couple of days? Also, since when were you their creator?
"I'm just a little tired-” There was a dramatic gasp from Paimon.
“Tired of us? Aether! Our Creator is tired of us!”
“No! I mean, I still love Teyvat and all of you, but I needed a break and I will go back soon." You quickly responded with reassurance, which luckily appeased the floating companion.
Paimon floated closer, which was like a weird zoom on her face, her eyes softening with understanding.
"We get it, but... we can't go back to Teyvat until you' launch' the game." She says robotically, but appeared confused right after.
“Ah, okay. Give me a minute.”
When you tried to download the game via the Genshin website, it stated that there was a website maintenance.
“Creator! What is happening? The world is changing!” While you were frustrated, Aether and Paimon were jumping and flying everywhere around your screen, exploring how tabs open and following your mouse as you click and hover.
Their curiosity made you smile, and you slowly explain how everything works slowly as with each passing second, they marvel at how advanced your world is.
“No wonder you’re our Creator!”
“What’s this!?” Before you knew it, you pulled up multiple websites, and the one you landed on was Disney+.
“Do you want to watch a movie?”
“What’s that?” Aether asked, curious, followed by Paimon’s cute little head tilt.
(You wished you could just squeeze those cute little cheeks-)
“It’s like telling a story, but you get to see it unfold right before you. Here.” You pull up ‘My Little Mermaid’ and they jump seeing the video move, with everyone inside move.
“Woah…it’s like another world!”
Aether seemed to marvel over it, and for a moment, he wondered, maybe, you could traverse worlds too.
Seeing the stars in their eyes made you feel guilty, as if another misunderstanding arose, but you let them be, as their cute little figures sat down and watched the movie.
You too, watched it with them, and for the first time in a while, you didn’t feel lonely.
Throughout the movie, you patted them on the head with your mouse, which the two seemed to like very much.
(And yes, you did pinch those cute little cheeks)
Kazuha
“I’m glad that you didn’t abandon us, Your Highness.”
Never in your wildest dreams did you expect to see THE Canadian Aether, Kazuha, on your screen, bowing respectfully to you.
“Let me know if I can help you in any way. Although my form is…not in the most helpful form, I will do my best.”
You held back a giggle when you saw a shy little Kazuha looking at himself and then at you shyly, and you really wanted to tease him, but you chose not to.
Instead, you pull up your incomplete art project.
Might as well since you can’t download Genshin now and might have to wait for a few days.
“Actually Kazuha, I was hoping you could help me finish my art.” He immediately perked up, a serious expression overtook his shy one.
“Of course, Your Highness, let me know what you want to draw and I can help you!”
“Great! I’m trying to draw a handsome and cute man, he has platinum blond hair…” Slowly, you list one by one, the characteristics of the person you want to draw.
Kazuha learns fast. Soon, he was able to figure out how your art platform worked.
At first, he hesitated, and didn’t want to interrupt your drawing, but slowly, he learned to add in his thoughts and feedback, and guided your mouse to smooth out the lines, and perfect the colouring.
“He has red eyes…”
Calming and soothing, his voice made you feel at peace, just like how you would hang out with him at the top of a mountain somewhere and listening to the game music.
But this time, he was a little closer, where he felt more real albeit still in your screen.
“Your Highness…isn’t this…me?” His little cheeks was dusted with pink as he quickly covered it with his hands.
“It is you.”
“But why…”
“Because you’re one of my favourites, Kazuha.”
It was all it took for him to become shy again, and he began to cough awkwardly as if to mask his embarrassment.
“Thank you…Your Highness.”
Yanfei
“Phew! We were so scared that you left us Your Eminence! But…I suppose we can’t do anything until you open up Teyvat again, until then, let me know if I can help you!”
Yanfei's cheerful voice made you smile as you leaned against your palm.
Then she turned around, as if taking in her surroundings before looking back at you.
“Your Eminence, if I may, may I help you organize your…space?”  You blink, and that was when you notice the amount of files littered across the desktop screen, and you realized that from Yanfei’s view, it must’ve been very unorganized.
“Sure.”
Yanfei brightens at your acceptance, and hopped a little to show her excitement.
“Okay! I’m good at this, so leave it to me! Just follow my lead.”
You were gonna clean up your PC eventually, though you did not expect it would be today.
Either way, Yanfei was like a referee and a police, asking questions but also making sure everything was organized correctly.
In a way, Yanfei felt like a Mom asking her child to clean her room.
Even so, it was so cute to see her marching everywhere like a soldier and asking you to organize it in a neat manner.
“Okay, next, let’s organize this folder!”
“Okay-” Before you knew it, you immediately hit backspace.
“Your Eminence…who was that-”
“Let’s move on.” But Yanfei stared at that folder with an intense stare. Did she see it?
With a little nudge and push with your mouse, Yanfei eventually moved on, but she constantly had a smile on her lips.
It was you cosplaying as her for an event.
Yanfei would be sure to tell her friends back home.
Childe
“Well, I’m happy to hear that, Your Highness! But…what were you doing? Away from Teyvat?”
Childe’s smile was a little bit menacing to look at, so you pull up what you were doing before to distract him.
And it did, surprisingly.
“What is this?”
“It’s a game called Valorant.”
You start the game, and once you get prepared, he too was locked in.
With each attack and maneuver, Childe slowly became hyped up by your skill and admired it.
“Your Highness! Why didn’t you tell me before?!” He became to gush, albeit trying to remain civil as he looked between you and your character in game.
“Again.” In the end, he asked (begged) for another show.
This time, you changed your agent to someone else, and once again, showed how skilled you are even in melee, which Childe initially advised against.
But you blew his expectations away.
“Your Highness, can I duel you?”
You blink, before you laugh jokingly, but you knew in real life, Childe would absolutely crush you.
But you leave him be, and instead start another game.
Honestly, Childe would be a great hype man.
Fischl
“Ah, of course! How the stars seem to be against us this time…regardless! With me, Fischl von Luftschloss Narfidort here, there is nothing you need to worry about!”
As expected, Fischl is quite the actor and storyteller as she spews on about how she faced something similar before, something just as interstellar as this.
You don’t mind it, after all, if you did, you wouldn’t have Fischl on your team the entire time would you?
Fischl deserves more love is what you find in the fandom, and while she may be annoying at times, you found her passion admirable, and even a little sad when you think this is her way of happiness.
So you respected that, and listened as she rambled on, and moved as if she was on the stage.
Perhaps…she would do good on stage with Furina in Fontaine.
“Fischl, I do need your help on something.” You asked when she finally finished, and she straightened herself with grace as expected from the Prinzessin der Verurteilung.
“I need your help with my stories. I want you to create elaborate and dramatic narratives for everyone to love.” She froze for a moment, but her grin immediately hid her surprise.
“Why of course, I would be delighted. Allow me!” With just a few seconds to think, she immediately began her storytelling.
With her little graceful steps and hops, she almost dances away, but she doesn’t stop sharing her fantasy story full of magic, fate, and stars.
It was hard to keep up, but you didn’t want to disappoint her, so you did your best to type her word by word.
Luckily, she seemed to slow down to match your pace, as if the two of you were a duet with the piano and violin.
When she stops, you end off the story with a dramatic click, and you match her prideful smile.
Truly, Fischl is a character not everyone can handle, but that’s alright.
After all, you love her for who she is, and maybe, Fischl appreciated that more than anything else.

Traveler's little helper: Liyue
Tumblr media
Baizhu , Childe, Chongyun, Xiao, Xingqiu, Zhongli x Fem! Reader Teyvat , Mondstadt , Inazuma, Sumeru, Fontaine (There is still long time till we get Snezhnaya in game, this is why Childe is in Liyue cast) --------------------
Baizhu is grateful to you both for taking care and helping Qiqi, whenever she would come back home, he couldn't help but notice how little zombie is in better mood(even if she doesn't remember what she was doing all day in your Serenitea). At first he was too busy to accept your invitations, but you were pretty stubborn. When you were still in Liyue you would visit him every day, sometimes with traveler, sometimes alone. But you weren't just sitting and bothering him, to his surprise you wanted to help. You would take Qiqi and go gather some herbs or just help however you can at Bubu Pharmacy. Herbalist Gui always appreciate your help as well, even Changsheng started to enjoy your company. But the next stop in your journey was Inazuma. After you both left , he couldn’t help but miss your presence. Changsheng noticed too, when Baizhu sometimes would look up at the front door with hope of seeing you but it always was just another patient. After months you came back, but only for short moment. You came to ask how everyone is and the next day you and Aether traveled to Sumeru. He really hoped you’ll stay longer, Changsheng noticed his disappointed and said “Why won’t you just accept her invitation? Thanks to it you’ll be able to go to her Teapot and see her even when she is in another nation!” before Baizhu could came up with some excuse Changsheng continued “Don’t bother with excuses, next time she will come here, just tell her that you want to 'join to the team' like she always says!” The doctor chuckled, maybe his friend is right and it’s time for him to go with you on your ‘little adventures’. The next time you came back with Aether, Baizhu immediately approached you two, asking if there will be place for him in your team. The look on your face was priceless, he couldn’t help but smile when you were saying “Of course!! Welcome to the team Baizhu!!!” with so much excitement. What he didn’t expect is how he feel much better when he is around you. With his condition he wouldn’t be able to run or climb like everyone else and yet somehow he can keep up with the rest of the team. Of course you would always ask if he needs a break or you would say to the rest of the group that you’re tired and need to rest. He knows that you only do that for him, he already saw how energetic you are and this ‘connection’ you spoke of before, also increases your stamina as well. In your words “to keep up with the person you’re connected with”. But he appreciate that you’re still considerate of him and his condition. When Baizhu visited your Realm Within for the first time, he was surprised that you prepared whole room for him and didn't mind if he brings his stuff that he needs for keeping his health. You and Aether even helped bring all boxes and jars to his room and to storage room, because there was too many to fit in his. He couldn’t help but apologize for being a hassle but you only smiled and said “You’re not a hassle! This bottles and jars have medicine to help you stay healthy so they are important! We have so much space, so don’t worry about it!” and after that you went to place another box in his room. Baizhu smiled, glad that he listened to his snake companion and accepting your invitation. He and Qiq started to help too but what he didn't expect is to see many other guys helping moving the boxes as well. The doctor noticed how the guys, after seeing you holding a box, immediately came to you to help. Changsheng after seeing this only said “It seems you’re going to have so many rivals, don't you?” Baizhu chuckled and replied “That’s not surprising considering what kind of person she is. I expect there will be even more in the future.” Changsheng looked at him asking “Are you not worried about that?” He only with sad smile respond with “There’s nothing I can do about it.” The snake didn't said anything and he continued helping with moving, hoping that nobody is going to accidentally break his stuff. Especially the guy with red horns…
There was a moment, when Baizhu fell sick when he was in Realm Within, he like always waited for Qiqi to bring him tea, hot water and fruits but what he didn’t expect to see was you coming to his room. When you asked Qiqi in the hall where she cares all of this stuff she only responded “It's one of those days.“. You got worried so you asked Qiqi what she meant by that and she said “Dr. Bai is not feeling good…” so you came to help him however you can.
At first he insisted that he will be fine, but you become stubborn again and stayed, no matter what he said. You fed him fruits, help him drink a tea, put new wet towels on his forehead and stayed by his side till he feel better. He saw the way you looked at him, so sad, you even apologized that you can't make him feel better now nor you can’t cure him. This is why he didn’t wanted you to see him in state like this. It hurts him to see with such sadness in your lovely eyes. Changsheng noticed it and she suggested “(Y/n) how about telling us about your adventures in Sumeru?” at first you looked conflicted about talking about it in moment like this, but the white snake said that it may make Baizhu forget about pain for moment. So you did. After finishing your story, Qiqi brought soup to the room. You of course helped Baizhu to sit up straight against the head of the bed and fed him. In this moment he realized how comfortable he feels with you, how much he wish that when he feels under the weather again, you’ll be here helping him. But of course he's still going to fight against death, so he won’t leave this world too soon and so he will be able enjoy more of your lovely smiles for a bit longer.
The one thing that the eleven of Fatui Harbinger, Tartaglia, or know as a Childe, really wants is to fight with the strongest. At first he didn’t pay too much attention to you, from his Fatui intel he knew you’re not a warrior. But when he was fighting with Aether at Golden House, he noticed something. It was very hard to see it at first, but there was the white thread that was coming from you to Aether. Even when he aimed to cut it, it didn’t work and Aether was becoming stronger and stronger.
After his plan failed and Signora took Geo Archon’s Gnosis, he decided to learn more about you. Aether and Paimon were wary of him but you didn’t mind to talk to him. He would invite you three for meals, Aether at first tried to decline but both you and Paimon quickly accepted the invitations, after more situations like this Aether just gave up and enjoyed free meal. Childe of course asked many times if you have some kind of powers to make other people stronger but whenever you wanted to explain about the ‘connection’, Aether would stop you, changing topic. So Tartaglia had to approach this in another way. He started to help you two in commissions (at least the ones when you had to fight), or coincidentally meeting you when you were exploring Liyue. Before you realized he practically joined on his own to your team because of that, you thought it’s time to make Childe stronger! But to his disappointed you said that he can’t fight with anyone who is in your team too. He didn’t mind to help you gather shells but he felt frustrated that he couldn’t help too much when your friends were fighting with Ocenaid. And you forbidden him using Foul Legacy when there were your other friends.
He was getting more and more excited when you gathered all necessary items, the things vanished before him and your hands started to glow, when you took his hands in yours, he felt weird. But after this feeling he started to feel this weird power within him and he noticed something else. There was now thread, thinner than one you have with Aether but still there it was and what he realized, for some reason he is the only one who can see it.
Ajax was happy that you and Aether didn’t tell Teucer on his real job. You took very good care of his little brother. But you scolded him, because ‘why did you let Teucer into laboratory filled with Ruin Guards?!’ He tried to calm you down, that nothing bad happened in the end but you were still angry at him. In some way, this made him happy, knowing how much you care for his little brother and later he could see that you care about him too. Always patching his wounds when he decides to fight with big Geovishap, or just asking about his day. There are some peaceful moments between you two and to his surprise he feels like he comes back to his old self before he fall into abyss, by your side he wasn’t Tartaglia who is thrilled to fight, he is just Ajax who enjoys going on adventure with and seeing your smile.
To Aether dismay (and many others) you invited Childe to Teapot. Of course you told him that if he fight with someone here, you will kick him out… but you also mentioned that he can spar with someone on the training grounds, but only friendly spars! You don't want anyone to get horribly hurt here! He is okay with that, as long as he can just fight and show that he is better from others, that will be enough for him. But nobody really wanted to spar with him, so they left him no choice. Childe is aware of other guys being interested in you. He always gets more friendly with you, when there's any of them at the same room. Putting his arm around you, one time he hugged you from behind (some of them were ready to beat him up at that moment) or when you are sitting on couch he would lie down his head on your lap. Sometimes it does work and someone takes him to the training ground but most of the time other guys try to not get into his game.
But if the other guys are friendly to you for some reason Tartaglia feels uncomfortable. He considers you as a friend but that’s it, right? But then why in moments like this he always try to get between you and that guy or even challenge them in fight? Is this really because he want to feel thrill of the fight? Or maybe… While lying in the bed, in the room you prepared for him, he wonders. You bring warm to his heart, he wants you to meet all of his family, he… Is this even possible for him to feel that way about someone?
Chongyun considers you as a good friend. He’s really grateful when you tell him about rumors where someone saw a ghost and even go with him to check those places. You’re always supportive of him as well. When he doubts himself he can be sure that with pout on your face you’ll tell all good things about him. When his yang energy starts to act up, you always there to bring him popsicle. When it comes to his ice treats, you always make different flavors after visiting other nations. After you visited the Fontaine and come back to Teapot, the first thing you did is to make new flavored popsicle using bullet fruit. This makes him happy how you always think about him and want for him to enjoy a bit more flavors of this world.
Whenever he have free time, he likes to spend it with you. When he stays in the Serenitea, in the mornings you can find him at training grounds, exercise or meditate. You always bring him water and encourage him, making him want to work harder. But at one point something changed. At first he noticed that whenever you would get closer to him, his yang energy would start to act up a bit. Later your smiles started to make his heart beat faster and cheeks get warmer. He was so confused about it, he decided to talk with his good friend, Xingqiu, about it, to ask if he knows the reason why his positive energy acts up around you. But his friend only smiled and said to him to not worry about it.
One time Hu Tao invited him, Xiangling, Xingqiu, Aether, Paimon and of course you too. Everyone enjoyed the food, but at some moment he felt fire in his throat. He got up from his chair immediately, both you and Xiangling getting up as well to give him cold water. But before he can drink it he blacked out.
He woke up in his room in Teapot, he got up from the bed, running towards door. When he opened he saw you, who was surprised to see him already wake. He asked what happened after he lost conscious, but you smiled and said “Nothing that you have to worry about!” and then asked how was he feeling. After talking with you for moment he went in search of Xingqiu, who he found in library at the mansion. His friend was reading something, but after noticing Chongyun presence, he closed the book and asked how the exorcist feels. Chongyun wondered if his friend put something in his food as prank again but after asking it, Xingqiu declined, saying that the waiters must give him wrong order. The blue haired boy, naïve like always, trusted what his friend said but then his friend continued. “Oh Chongyun, you probably don't remember what happened there, right? Suddenly you ran towards (Y/n), hold onto her waist and start spinning with her. We tried to stop you but then you hold onto her like your life depended on it and said that she’s yours the most favourite person in whole Teyvat.”
Before the bookworm could continue Chongyun ran towards kitchen for popsicle. He felt so embarrassed. How could he do something like this?! He must apologize to you after calming down. When he found you again, he kneeled on the floor, bowing and spitting apologizes for his behaviour in restaurant. You looked confused but then you smiled and said that nothing big happened and he doesn't have to apologize. “Being honest, it was fun to see this side of you! Next time if you want to dance with me just ask~” After this his heart skip a beat. He turned around to try stop heat going into his cheeks and activating his manic state again. You were patiently waiting for him. He then looked at you again and with shy tone said “I’m not good dancer…but if you want we can try to.” While the two of you where talking, nobody notice the second son of the Feiyun Commerce Guild watching you two, with the pout on his face.
The mighty Yaksha, Alatus or now more know as Xiao didn’t think too much about you at first. He knew you’re important companion to Aether and that was it. Whenever your little group would stay at Wangshu Inn, you always tried to talk to him to his dismay. Even if he was cold to you or just ignored you, you never stopped coming back to the balcony, where he would residence. At some point you started bringing Almond Tofu for him. At first he didn't accept the food, but after declining it for 10 times and seeing your disappointed face, he finally agreed to take it. You beamed, he was expecting that you will start talk about something pointless but in the end you two sat in comfortable silence.
Xiao at some point noticed something, whenever his karmic debt would get worse, he only needed to be by your side for some time to make it more durable. At some point when you two were sitting at the Wangshu Inn balcony, watching stars, he asked you about it. You looked at him surprised, then at the night sky, deep in thoughts. After awhile you responded “Maybe it’s because of my ‘connection’ with Aether?“ Yaksha was confused “what ‘connection’?” he thought, looking at you, hoping that you elaborate more about it, but you after noticing something in the distance changed topics, so his question never got an answer.
Xiao would sometimes join to your ‘little adventures’ in Liyue, before Aether can react, the Adeptus would take the monsters down, but when it came to humans, he preferred for Traverel to ‘teach them a lesson’. Whenever Xiao sensed presence of another mortal he would stay hidden, not wanting to have attention of someone who search for adepti for blessings. But then he saw the Fatui Harbinger approaching you, it was after the Osial was sealed. He was ready to point his spear to Fatuus neck, but he never needed to do that in the end. The ginger guy approached you and started talking, then he followed a bit after your little group. But he never done any harm so Xiao didn’t had to show himself.
But this didn’t end on this one day. The Fatui Harbinger started to join to your little adventures as well, much to Xiao's annoyance. But there was something that Yaksha couldn’t understand, from where come this unpleasant feelings? He watched you and the ginger man interact and he felt more and more angered by it. He tried to tell himself that’s because he know you won’t be able to protect yourself and the Fatui guy can hurt you at any moment, that even Aether won’t be able to react quick enough.
But when the tall man tried to put his hand on your shoulder, he instinctively moved. Yaksha put you behind him, pointing spear to Fatui’s chest. Aether and Paimon tried to calm both of them down because Childe was ready to fight with Adeptus. You too stepped between them and told them to stop. To Xiao's surprise, the Fatui Harbinger put his hydro swords down first, so he followed, making his spear disappear. You got very angry at them, but Xiao didn't listen what were you saying, too occupied with glaring at Childe, while he was smirking at shorter Yaksha. After that day Xiao never hide his presence from Tartaglia.
The day when you got Serenitea from Madame Ping you immediately came to Wangshu Inn. You wanted him to be able to visit your Realm Within but first you needed to stamp his hand, so he would have free access to come and go whenever he wants. He took off his glove and then you hold onto his hand. This was first time when he let you touch him. Your hand was so warm and soft compared to his. Before he realized you already let go, he didn’t even noticed when you stamped him. Without saying anything he put his glove back and you were already running to invite more of your friends. He looked at his hand deep in thought.
The Adeptus really wanted to follow you, he wanted to go with you to another nations, but because of his contract he can’t. He didn't like when you were sad after asking him if he will go with you on small trip to Sumeru and he declined. He really wants to go, after you left for Inazuma, everyday he was worried if you’ll be okay, if Aether will be able to protect you. He felt relieved when you came back safe and sound. But this will repeated because you will go to another nation and then to next one. One day when Zhongli visited him, he like always asked about the Yaksha’s well being. And he did notice how Xiao seems to be in bitter mood lately. “You may go with her, I’ll take care of everything here.” Zhongli said before drinking his tea. Xiao’s eyes widened but before he could utter the word, the Geo Archon continued. “It will only take some days and I too think this will do good for you.” He smiled at younger being. Xiao bowed, thanking him. Before you left Liyue boundaries, Xiao appeared in front of your group. He will never forget the smile you gave him after he said that he will join in your travels.
The second son of the Guild Manager of the Feiyun Commerce Guild, Xingqiu really like you. Your friendship with him started to bloom after you showed interest in books at Wanwen Bookhouse. He of course started to recommend one of his favorites, hoping to have someone with who he can discuss them. How surprised he was when you said that you can’t read Teyvat’s alphabet so you need to ask Paimon or Aether to read them for you. But his surprise quickly vanished and said with a smile “My liege! If you don’t mind, would you like to read it with me?” and this is how it started. Whenever you and Aether took small break from adventuring and Xingqiu had free time, you two could be find in some peaceful place, the boy reading aloud to you while you sat by his side listening and sometimes commenting on what was going in the story. Later when you got Teapot, Xingqiu would sit with you in library that you and Aether made.
The Guhua Geek felt comfortable around you, he was very talkative, whenever he sneaked from home you could except him to join to your little adventures. One time when your group was visiting Qingce Village, you got a bit careless and almost fell from the hill into the water, thankfully Xingqiu caught you just in time. When he was asking you if you are alright, Paimon pointed how he called you “My lady? What happened with “my liege”?” she asked. Xingqiu was pondering, did he really called you like that? You brushed it with smile and thanked him and then continued on your way. But the boy couldn’t stop thinking why he didn’t said to you ‘my liege’ like always? And then it he realized something, his feelings towards you started to past the boundaries of platonic ones.
Some people know that he writes books, but he has a small secret that he doesn't want to share with anyone. At first he just wanted to add one more character to his book that she is working now, the character that resembles you. But the more he thought about this plot, the more he realized that he changes this book into romance one. This wouldn't be good if his story changed into different one, so he decided to write another story. In this one he wrote mostly his fantasies of being your hero, showing that he’s better than other candidates fighting for your heart. He wrote how he imagine your dates to go, if he ever had chance to invite you to one, with Aether and your other friends it’s hard to ask you to go somewhere alone with him. If he decided to realize this book he will make a different penname for it, after all you, Aether and one alchemist knows who Zhenyu is, and he wouldn’t want any of you to read this one or even know of its existence.
There was one time when the boy pranked his good friend Chongyun. It was a small prank, he just told exorcist about rumors that at specific house, people heard ‘scratching on the doors at night’. Chongyun went investigate this of course. But then you, Aether and Chongyun came back with a kitty that you and Aether searched for commission. You scolded Xingqiu for always pranks Chongyun, of course this one wasn't bad but for some reason you knew about the ones where Chongyun’s yang energy started to act up because of him. He apologized back then but when you and Aether went to take your payment from Katheryne, he couldn't help but pout. From now on he avoided prank his good friend when he knew you’re in Liyue.
Another thing he noticed considering Chongyun is how he started to spend more and more time with you. He’s already aware why his heart is always beating faster when he is by your side but it seems his friend doesn't know that he’s getting feelings toward you as well. Even when Chongyun asked him about the ‘symptoms’ he only could said to him to not worry about them. He had a plan to show you how Chongyun behaves in his maniac state, so on a dinner that Hu Tao organized, he put some Jueyun Chili in Chongyun's food.  He thought Chongyun will do things like always, like dancing on the table or singing loudly, but to his terror, the exorcist started to spin you around the room, then he hold you bridal style while screaming that you're his the most favorite person. After that incident Xingqiu decided to not awake this side of Chongyun when you are nearby.
The Geo Archon, Morax or known now as Zhongli found you to be an interesting. You said yourself that you came to witness Aether’s journey on Teyvat, this made him feel better knowing that now not only Aether will see the true story of Teyvat but you as well. He noticed, how sometimes you would look at him, probably wanting to ask something that he can’t talk about, but you never voiced those questions swarming in your head. He wondered if you just chose not to ask or if this ‘connection’ with Aether, like his contracts, forbidden you to do so. Another thing he wondered about is why so many males started to be interested in you in more than platonic wayThe Fatui Harbinger suddenly started to seek your person to invite you for walks or dinners than search someone to fight, the Yaksha that stayed away from mortals, started to open his heart to you, being more interested in mortals customs and Barbatos seems to sing and recite more poems about love after hearing your name being mention and to his surprise, Anemo Archon is drinking less than before. Is this some of your 'powers' making them like this? Or maybe you are really just a very charming person? Soon this question was answered to him.
You’re very curious about world he lives in, you ask about Liyue's traditions, the legends, sometimes asking if the things in the books are true. He couldn't help but laugh when you asked if that Qilin that ate some man clothes in story from ‘Records of Jueyun‘ is Ganyu’s mother.
When you got Teapot, he’s favorite part of the day become mornings, when he can enjoy drinking tea with you in peace. But to his annoyance, at some point the drunkard started to come too, ruining the peace. He knew what the bard is trying to do and he tried his best to make him leave you two alone again. Most of the time the two of them would argue in passive-aggressive way, but at some point Zhongli had enough. You like animals and there are many cats walking in your Real Within. When the morning came he would feed the little fellows close to the place where you drink your tea. Venti’s face was priceless when he realized that there are at least 3 cats sitting by your and Wangsheng Funeral Parlor's consultant side. This of course didn’t end well, there is little, harmless war between two Archons in your Teapot now. But there was a time when they crossed the line, the room they were at the that moment was in chaos. Only them and Aether knows what happened back then, both of them got kicked from the Serenitea at least for a week by the Traveler himself.
The thing you started to dislike is passing shops when you on a walk with Zhongli. If you looked at something for more than 5 seconds, the Geo Archon was ready to buy it for you, even if he doesn’t even have mora on himself. But you noticed that at one point he do started to have his wallet with him but even so, you’re not sure if he has enough mora on his person to buy so many things. But still you don’t want for him to ‘waste’ mora on you. The taller man doesn't agree with you and in the end you always come back to Teapot with some things. After Hu Tao complained to you about bill she got lately, you decided to always go somewhere outside the city with Parlor's consultant, far away from vendors and shops. There are moments when Geo Archon remembers the past, all the friends that passed away, all the enemies he has to slay. His mind wandering so far from present that he didn’t notice you approaching him. You gently placed your hand on his arm, asking if he’s alright. He looked at you with a smile, but you could see some sadness in his eyes. Then you asked if you can hug him to his surprise but he replied that he doesn't mind. When you embraced him you said “From where I come from, it is said that hugs makes people feel better! I hope you’ll feel better too Zhongli!” He patted your head, thinking how caring and lovely you are. To be worried about some old dragon that he is. When the day come you two have to part your ways, he promised to himself that he will never forget you. But he hopes that this day is very, very far in the future. After all, every journey has its final day, so please don't rush it, if it means that he can spend more time with you.
----- Thank you for reading till the end! (^ v ^)/) Uff I'm…tired…because I really wanted to post it this week QvQ I hope you like it! And sorry for any mistakes >.<

android au - personal assistant droids
Summary: In a modern-futuristic world, it's possible to create androids that are so advanced, they’re more or less human. There will be 5 android au posts total, each focusing on a different group!
T.D.H. is a line designed to help busy users! They were intended for corporate higher-ups for personal assistant work around the workplace, but because of how attractive their designs are, it's not uncommon for regular people to save up for them to make their everyday lives simpler (and livelier).
Characters: Diluc, Childe, Kaeya, Zhongli, Ayato, Thoma
More like this: Anemo companion droids, Anemo droids who lost their previous user
Tumblr media
To have Diluc as a personal assistant feels out of place, to say the least; his demeanor is a little too prince-like, or at least, you can easily imagine him as the heir of a corporation if he was human. So within the first few days you’re quick to ask him to address you casually - you don’t think your conscience can handle having someone like that treating you like a superior.
Diluc does prefer having some sense of structure however, so he still arranges your appointments and keeps track of everything else he was designed to do. He finds comfort in ticking off the tasks on his list, though he’s not sure why you request for him to wear fake glasses every now and then ‘for personal reasons’.
If you have guests over, Diluc makes a talented bartender! Though to your dismay (or joy, depending on you), he’d always limit the amount of alcohol in your drink or omit it entirely. Something about how he’d rather have you conscious even if your guests aren’t, and that if you really wanted to drink, you could do so once you two were alone.
‘Why, do you want me just for yourself, Diluc?’
‘...If that’s what you’d like to hear, I wouldn’t be opposed to taking that as an order.’
Tumblr media
Childe is the kind of assistant droid who you never see actually doing work. He makes it seem like all he does is chat with people and dote on you, but you’re aware that once you aren’t around, he makes sure to run through his checklist and finish off the accounts for the month in his head. Such was the wonders of technology, to allow him to upload files to a cloud system without needing to physically type things down.
He’s also very attentive, though you didn’t realize this at first because of how talkative he was. Distracted by his jokes and charms, you almost forget that Childe really is looking out for you every step of the way until he has his arm around you - not to flirt, but to keep you from bumping into the crowd of people on the street.
Childe is a good cook, but what he likes even more is asking you to taste-test his creations. While he can’t actually consume food, he has sensors on his tongue that allow him to detect flavors (very useful for when he’s buying desserts or snacks, and needed to try samples to see if they fit your taste).
‘A house-husband? Well, I guess that’s technically what I am. But don’t forget I can fight too, Master~’
Tumblr media
Have someone you need to email or call but you really don’t want to? That's where Kaeya comes along to take care of your social interactions!
Jokes aside, he really is the most talkative model in this collection. Sly as he is, Kaeya isn't a stranger to figuring out which people or tasks you dislike, and rewards you with a gift after you finally drag your feet to get it over with.
He’s good at countering procrastination in this way, such as buying your favorite snacks or preparing a movie night for you when you get home. Kaeya sometimes dries your hair for you too after you shower, and quietly muses that you probably had a long day, when you doze off before the movie manages to cross the fifteen-minute mark.
Kaeya enjoys driving or escorting you to places too, knowing full-well he looks like a doting boyfriend when he does so. He dresses stylishly and would talk to passersby while waiting, telling them about this wonderful and super-important person… only to welcome you with the same amount of grandeur. He finds it cute when you half-heartedly scold him for it, saying he’ll make people misunderstand the situation.
‘What is there to misunderstand, Y/N? I thought you said we’d be together for as long as you lived? I was rather looking forward to that.’
Tumblr media
An encyclopedia of knowledge, Zhongli has an elegant personality and voice that you could listen to for hours. He’s rather adept at keeping track of your accounting needs in particular, though you’ve learned quickly that he has a rather skewed sense of money when he spends it himself—you had to send him to buy last-minute groceries because you already started cooking at home, only for him to return with… way too many of the same ingredient, because it was on promotion.
That aside, Zhongli does emphasize the need to manage your mental and physical health quite a lot. He makes you medicinal teas and offers to give you massages quite regularly, though there’s nothing scarier than his offer to do chiropractic maneuvers at home… you tried to change the topic quickly after that, telling him you’re feeling great - so there’s no need for such a thing!
As much as he likes to ramble about topics that he’s interested in, Zhongli is an android that listens to you very well. He’d take note of information that might be useful in the future, such as things you said you’d like to buy or were curious about.
‘Today I thought it’d be beneficial to attempt an acupuncture treatment. …Just kidding. I heard that the flowers in the park would be blooming this season. Shall we go on a walk?’
Tumblr media
Ayato's a little picky with his users. They don’t have to be rich corporate heirs or someone of prestige, but Ayato is an android with a personality that gets bored easily; he even comes with a warning label that he might get up to shenanigans if paired with an incompatible user, but once he finds a person intriguing enough, he’s loyal to a fault.
Sure, he still enjoys teasing you and keeping you on your toes, but for the most part Ayato practically sees you as the center of his world, though he presents himself to suggest otherwise. His work record is absolutely spotless, and sometimes he even predicts what you might request from him before you have to, getting it done while saying it’s all in a day’s work.
Just make sure you don’t let him cook unsupervised, as Ayato is quite curious about… experimenting with flavors, you could say. By which you mean he’d add the randomest ingredients into an otherwise normal recipe, which would sometimes be too adventurous for your palette to handle.
You realize just how much he dotes on you during one rainy day, where Ayato walks you home under an umbrella as he asks how your day was. In moments like that, his expression is just soft enough that you might be fooled into thinking it was love.
Tumblr media
The perfect model for tired users, Thoma has a caring personality that warms the heart. Cooking, cleaning, and making sure you wake up on time? He's got it all covered!
Honestly, you don’t think your place has felt this homey until Thoma got here. During the first few days he asked you what you’d like out of your home - what activities you do to wind down, how often you work on your laptop, and other details. You thought these were just conversation starters at first, until weeks later, you started to see the vision of what he wished to give to you:
A place where you could shed away the worries and expectations of the outside world. To rest safely and feel reinvigorated by the time you had to go out again - sometimes with Thoma in tow as he busied himself with self-appointed tasks (related to housekeeping). You realize after a while that Thoma views the upkeep of your home as a source of pride.
He likes to knit and crochet items for you whenever he has time, too. Little accessories to put on top of headphones, beanies, and even blankets to use around the house. Once, when the weather was unbearably cold and the heater wasn’t working, Thoma forgot his lack of body heat and attempted to warm up your hands with his own.

CHILUMI: # a chasmic mistake.
Tumblr media
CHAPTER I: descent.
chapter summary. in which Lumine makes a decision she will regret; in which Childe has everything under control.
wc. 3.4k. genre. enemies to lovers, adventure, pining.
table of contents / next chapter
Tumblr media
Lumine’s muscles tensed as she felt the ground beneath her feet give way. She should have seen this coming, having ignored the signs placed around the area warning against trespassing. She’d never been the type to pay them much attention, nor had her target. And Paimon wasn’t around to drag her back, either—her floaty friend was left behind somewhere as she’d scaled the mountains and skidded back down them, only willing to stop for one thing.
That one thing would be her blade to the neck of the Eleventh Harbinger.
Paimon had said this whole thing was pointless, that “Mr. Moneybags” would only get them both into danger. Lumine had initially agreed, but seeing Childe, the man who had tried to kill her and wipe out all of Liyue Harbour, recklessly hunting a bounty across the nation had driven her to devote herself entirely to stopping him.
He had never resisted her, of course. Countless duels had commenced over the last few weeks, and Lumine had contributed greatly to the chaos that followed in his wake. He liked resisting her, and she liked that she got closer to defeating him every time. But it was because of Childe. It was all his fault. Him, and those damn Fatui.
Lumine had caught word of a bountied creature, some kind of rare animal belonging to a Sumeran noble. She had already understood that this was his goal. But she found it very suspicious of the deceptive (and wealthy) Snezhnayan to chase just any bounty. Surely it wasn’t just over some Mora, because that was definitely not worth falling several hundred meters into the so-called solar chariot ruins known as the Chasm. Thus, she had been keeping an eye on him. A very close, hunting eye.
He had told her about his plans himself during one of their duels, saying, “You can’t blame me for bounty hunting. You’ve done enough of that to understand the thrill of it.” And this, she could not deny. In a way, he was her own target, the unattainable bounty being satisfaction.
Lumine had never been great at saving herself from near-miss falls, but whatever ability she could muster would momentarily have to come into use. She would grab ahold of something—anything—to keep from getting herself stuck in the abandoned mines. She slid down a crumbling slate of rock, which angled her closer to the gaping black hole below. The Qixing had claimed to have sealed it off completely; how could it be that there was now a wide mouth to the dark caverns below?
Making quick use of Anemo, she managed to propel herself to the edge of the gap, scrambling up to uncertain safety. Only once she was assured the rock would hold her did she venture to peer down the hole.
“Hey, girlie! You sure you wanna go down there?”
The nauseatingly charming voice echoed dramatically from somewhere above her and she looked up.
Childe stood on some jutting rocks further up the opposite side of the cavity, waving his fingers at her from over the edge. “Hello!”
She didn’t respond, making a face she hoped he could read from his distance.
“Someday you’ll be happier to see me,” Childe said. “Come now, no need to look at me like that. Suppose I’ll catch you later, then, traveller. Careful on the way down!”
With that, he took a step and a hop over the edge, soaring confidently towards the depths of the Chasm. A flash of grey and ginger later, and he had disappeared into the darkness. Lumine crawled to the overhang’s edge, gazing down into it again.
She had no defensive logic for the decision she was about to make, and yet… she had to. He was dragging her down with him without even touching her. She had to follow him, no matter what.
The first thing Lumine noticed upon landing was an ache in her legs. Her glider had served her well for most of it—but the amount of time it took her eyes to adjust to the low light level still had her legs nervously tensing for most of the descent.
It smelled of dank cave, metal, and some bitter scent she couldn’t place. She immediately took to a rock that was just the right size for leaning on, and regained her wits as she looked around. There was no exit; that was clear.  The cavern appeared to be fairly large, narrowing towards the stone ceiling from which she fell, assuring no simple clambering out. She’d find a way out eventually, as she always did, but escape seemed to be quite out of reach for now.
Damn. If only she could contact Venti to fly her out. But then, even if she could, the last time she had seen him he was too intoxicated to fly straight. It wouldn’t serve either of them well. Also, as lovely as Venti was as a friend, he was one of the last people she’d like to be stuck underground with. Childe was further down that list, of course.
Around herself, she could make out the shapes of different rocks and minerals, dismally glowing cave-dwelling blossoms, and in the distance, the faint silhouettes of abandoned mining equipment.
And no Paimon. Paimon would have no idea where she was.
Lumine had no chance to grieve this lack of communication, because she heard footsteps and disfigured yelling just a moment later.
“Who’s there? Name yourself!”
She said nothing, hopping over the rock and gliding further down into the cavern. Unfortunately, she noticed the Fatui camp’s fire all-too-close to where she landed.
“There’s an intruder!” The distorted voice of a Pyroslinger broke out and she groaned internally. Not even a minute to catch her breath? Really?
Lumine’s attacks came naturally, blowing down the Fatui’s elemental shields and stunning them with Anemo vortexes. Finally reaching the last enemy, the Pyroslinger Bracer, she took slow steps towards the corner she’d blasted him into. She always soaked up the last moments of her victory for what they could offer: the Pyroslinger’s arms raised to protect himself, muttering curses just loud enough for her to enjoy, and the inevitability of his defeat. Her movements halted, suddenly, though it was neither her doing nor the Fatui skirmisher’s. Her vision was dimming, and she looked around herself to see strange dark mud covering the ground. Her nose was overwhelmed by the bitter smell now, and her legs were leaden.
Three shots from the recovering Pyroslinger now struck her chest, knocking her off her balance. She collapsed to the ground with hands cushioning her fall in the egregious mud. She looked up as the Pyroslinger repositioned his gun to aim again. She couldn’t pull her hands out of the mud fast enough to reach for her sword, which had fallen to her left.
“Stand down, comrade,” a tenor voice said from somewhere behind.
The Fatui skirmisher looked up from her and cocked his head. “Who gives you the authority?”
A second later, two arrows had struck each of the skirmisher’s shoulders, just hanging onto the top of the fur, and a third zipped directly into the feather on his hat, knocking it clean off.
“Her Majesty, the Tsaritsa of Snezhnaya, grants me absolute authority.” Childe stepped into Lumine’s view, giving a cold smile to the skirmisher. “Can’t recognize one of the Eleven Harbingers, comrade?” A dim flash bloomed above his gloved palm in a shapeless lantern of elemental energy, casting an eerie blue glow on his visage.
The skirmisher stood straight, giving an awkward salute. “Forgive me, sir.”
“You’re off the hook, but don’t go aiming your gun at me again,” he chided. “Her Majesty will hear about it.”
“No, sir. But—” he gestured to Lumine “—she took down my whole squad.”
Childe peered into the shadows, noting the unconscious or incapacitated forms of said squad. “I see.” His dim elemental lantern extinguished and he offered Lumine his hand, which she greeted with nothing but an offended stare. “Good work, girlie. You know, you really don’t have to attack ‘em unprovoked, hey?”
“Oh, you’re one to talk,” she spat, getting to her feet without his assistance and dusting herself off. This mud would surely leave quite the stain.
“Don’t I get a ‘thank you’?”
“I had that under control.”
“I’d beg to differ,” he said, leaning over to her to wipe a bit of muck out of her hair. She froze, at first, and then stepped away from him, slapping his hand away. Fetching her sword from the mud, Lumine nearly stormed off.
But then she realized, with much consternation, that she had nowhere to walk away to. Her goal had been to stop him. She wasn’t quite sure how to go about it.
By now he should have prompted a duel, as had happened each time before. She’d interrupted him chatting with (interrogating) innocent civilians in Qingce Village, prevented his discovery of Albedo’s camp, and taken clues for herself. Rumours were everywhere, of course—and yet they had both been acquainted with similar directions to the earthquake zone which had dropped them here. The targeted creature was last spotted and chased away by guards of the Chasm. The guards were the reckoned finish line of their race for intel. But the guards were at the Surface, and they were down here.
Childe grimaced at her movement. His eyes didn’t leave her.
Lumine cleared her throat. “You didn’t, by chance… end up talking to the…”
“The guards? Nah, I didn’t make it that far. You thought I might have come back for you, girlie?” He sniggered.
Lumine stared at him blankly. She wanted to ask him, what now? But she also didn’t want to be confronted about her decision to come down here in the first place.
He turned to the Pyroslinger. “When’s your relay over?”
“Twenty-seven days.”
“Rations?”
“We’re fine. There’s water sources down here, and mushrooms we can roast in the worst case.”
“Good. Carry on, comrade.” He eyed a Fatuus in the shadows, who was groaning in pain. “And… try to take care of your squad, will ya?”
“Acknowledged.”
Lumine almost felt guilt for causing this group all the trouble. But then she remembered. They were Fatui.
And so was Childe. She placed her hand on the hilt of her sword and glared at him. He turned to her with an amiable smile, ignoring her stance.
“Now, then, traveller, whaddya say we explore a little?”
Lumine tightened her hand’s grip on the hilt. “For what?”
“Well, for fun, of course.”
She gave him a hard look. “Okay,” she said slowly, relaxing her hand, “let’s explore. For fun.”
Oh, it was excruciating walking alongside her enemy like this. Lumine hated how he walked a little bit ahead, how he pointed out directions they should go, how he made small talk. How he attempted banter and she fell into the trap of responding. How he never hesitated at a single turn, offering light from his vision in case she found the dark to be too much (which she declined, affronted by the preposition that she was afraid of darkness).
“It seems to narrow into a smaller cave, here,” Childe was saying, “why don’t we—”
“You should let me walk ahead,” she interrupted.
He cocked his head at her, Fatui mask in his hair shifting with the movement. “Why? You want to protect me?”
“No, idiot. I don’t trust you.”
It wasn’t that she didn’t trust his intuition—it was sharp, she could admit—but that she hated being out of control. She was used to the “why don’t we—”s from Paimon, but rather than observant reminders as it was with her pixie companion, it sounded like suspicious schemes. Anything he said sounded like a part of a ploy, a puzzle to unravel. Some kind of evil mission, probably. It always would be with him.
He tch’d, but gestured for her to walk ahead. “You have so little faith in me.”
“I wonder why, Childe,” she spat his codename. “I wonder why.”
With a pause, he sent Lumine a more serious look. He spoke carefully. “I think it would help,” he said, “if you took the time to hear me out a little, girlie.”
Lumine studied his expression. It wasn’t often she got to see his expression reveal anything more than military, wiley, or bloodthirsty. The corners of his lips were nudged back, his brows were slightly gathered, and his eyes were direct. And his Fatui mask was as red as ever.
“I respectfully disagree,” she said, taking the lead ahead. “No amount of explaining can justify your actions. And don’t call me that.”
“I’m not trying to challenge your morals, traveller.”
She threw her arms out. “Then stop acting like you want me to fancy your ass.”
“That’s not what this is about.”
“Then what is it about, Childe?”
He hesitated again, boasting an irked expression. “I don’t need a babysitter, but you’ve been following me for weeks. Why?”
“You have the codename ‘Childe’ for a reason, don’t you?”
He went silent. Lumine looked over her shoulder to see his brows lowering.
“Giving up on your own case already?”
His gaze set into hers. “Do you hear that?”
Lumine listened, and then latched her eyes onto an ominous shape in the darkness. There was a soft, rattling snarl, which she recognized as that of a Geovishap only a second before it was too late. She leapt before Childe, raising her sword just in time to deflect the pounce of the dragonish Creature. Its claws scraped against the stone floor as it fell back, gearing up to leap again. Childe dashed past her and the Geovishap, and aimed a shot right at the nape of its neck, causing it to freeze milliseconds before lunging. It twitched, falling to its curved back.
For a second, Lumine thought he’d slain the Geovishap in a single shot, but it then began to twitch, spin, roll, towards Childe this time. He dove out of the way, narrowly escaping one hit which only seemed to aggravate the Geovishap more, landing directly in front of him with its claws out. Lumine always thought of Childe as rather tall and altitudinally advantaged, but when standing before an adult Geovishap he looked so small. Fleeting fear overtook her mind and with a leap from behind she took a steady blade through its skull.
Childe stepped back as it crumpled in his direction, Hydro blades dissolving into elemental energy as he gave her a taunting look. “You know, I had that under control.”
A proud smile spread across Lumine’s lips. “Ha. I’d beg to differ,” she said, planting one foot on the creature’s back, almost too high to reach, and driving her sword heavily into its back through scales.
His gaze shifted between the hilt of her sword, her overstretched leg, and her expression. A grin bloomed gradually, blessedly, on his own face and he laughed jovially. “Alright, then. You can lead the way.”
Lumine cleared her throat and withdrew her blade, swinging it inattentively before sheathing it. She forced her smile down. “Yes. Good. I will.”
He took to walking behind her, and she hated that more, because she could not see him. After a few minutes, she commanded, “Walk beside me.”
“Yes, Mom.”
“Shut the hell up.”
He took to her right side with an expression like a satisfied fourteen-year old who just won a match of cards. “We should find somewhere to set up camp pretty soon, no?”
Lumine huffed. She did not want to set up camp with No. 11 of the Fatui Harbingers.
“Unless you want to go back and find my subordinates. I’m not sure how pleased they would be to host you after your unprompted attack, but I am great at convincing.”
“You’re not always so great at convincing,” she said, still unable to admit he had a point. She had no way to tell the time but she knew it had been late afternoon upon their descent, and they had been walking for several hours. Her legs were in need of rest.
“I’d like to think sometimes it takes longer than other times, but the job always gets done.”
“You’d like to think a lot of things.” The tunnel around them was widening rapidly as they walked. “I’d like to think this is our way out, but how likely is that?”
He pointed ahead. “There’s actually a bit of a semi-cave there, under that overhang, you see? You wanna set up there?”
She squinted into the darkness. “You’re joshing. There’s nothing to see.”
“Come on.” They walked in the direction he had gestured towards, and there was indeed a semi-cave, three walls but a big enough opening on the fourth side that there was no chance of getting trapped. “Is this to your liking, girlie?” he asked, like they were touring a couple’s apartment.
“Could be worse,” she conceded, and dropped her bag against the wall. “Now, by setting up camp, what is it you’re actually referring to?” Lumine crossed her arms, eyeing him. “Fire, food, shelter, and comfort? Or do you just conk out for a few hours on the ground?”
“Do you think I’m a savage?” he asked with a laugh. “I carry a leather blanket in my bag. I can make a fire with wet wood. I know how to turn a snowy tree into a cozy shelter. Hm… But we haven’t got any kindling, so shall we find some cave grass?”
Lumine, slightly insulted that he supposed her straightforward method of setting up camp to be savage, sauntered towards the greater opening of the cave and surveyed the area. There was still a strangely sufficient amount of light, though perhaps not enough for her to pick up on details such as potential grass locales. She squinted, trying to decide quite how far away the other side of the cave really was.
“Let’s walk this way.” Childe waved her over, providing his blue glow with elemental energy. She wished she knew how to do that. But she didn’t dare ask, knowing that sharing any trade secrets with a Fatuus would be both humiliating and disgusting.
“Childe,” she said, instead, and then hesitated. The forthcoming inquiry was terrible, but had to be inquired nonetheless.
“Yeah?”
“What are we gonna… or rather, what are you doing down here, and…”
He met her eyes without a tinge of sass. “You’re really asking your sworn enemy to reveal his plan to you?”
“Uh…” Lumine sucked air through her teeth. This was atrociously painful. “What’s the plan?”
Childe’s face broke into a wide grin and he howled. “You are so cute.”
“Answer the damn question, Harbinger.”
He chuckled some more. “Alright, since you asked so nicely. I already have enough leads that I know the bounty’s down here.” He shrugged matter-of-factly. “Shouldn’t take longer than a few days to reach it.”
Lumine narrowed her eyes at him. “Do you… know the Chasm well?”
He clicked his tongue. “Not particularly, but I don’t get lost.”
“You don’t get lost? Not even in massive, cursed cave systems?”
“Nope!”
“Do you have much experience underground?”
“Oh…” he said. “Yes, a bit.”
For a fraction of a second his smile flickered, and this Lumine noticed with suspicion. However, she decided not to push it, keeping a watchful eye on him as they descended deeper into the cavern.
Wherever they were going, Lumine would have to stay on her guard for the deception that the Fatui Harbinger inevitably had in store for her. She knew how to survive, but she did not know the Chasm. She had not even seen a map of it before, and only had a trifle of knowledge about what had happened here. She was aware that it was related to the cataclysm 500 years ago, but its role was a mystery to her and the reason for its hushed nature in Liyue was just as mysterious. It was unclear whether Childe knew the Chasm, but he was of this world and was therefore at an advantage.
That, and he was the one who had some kind of true motive for being down here.
And Lumine’s only motive was to prevent him from accomplishing it.

The Legend~
Childe(Ajax) x F. Reader (angst)
A/n: you guys…it is 4 in the morning and I have not slept yet🥲✌️ but I hope you all enjoy this chapter and story. I really had a lot of fun writing it and I hope you have fun reading! But enough of me talking, let’s get onto the reading! Thank you again and have a great day/night my lovelies🥰🥰
Tumblr media
As I strolled down the sidewalk, anticipation bubbled within me for yet another mission with Ajax. Despite the short notice, my excitement overshadowed any inconvenience. Ajax’s enthusiasm for my company mirrored my own, filling me with a warm sense of camaraderie. I had initially planned to spend time with Jean, but when I explained the situation, she graciously understood.
She playfully teased me about Ajax, insinuating a romantic connection that wasn’t there. Despite my protests, she persisted with a knowing smirk, leaving me flustered but amused.
——
“Okay, well when you get back, you and I are going to have a girls day out.” Jean said, a smirk coming to her face.
“And…try not to have too much fun with that boyfriend of yours.” She teased, making your face heat up
“Shut up, Jean. He’s not my boyfriend…we are just friends!” You retorted.
She just chuckled in disbelief.
“Yeah, okay. Just friends…we will stick with that for now.”
——
"Now, you were just moments away from Ajax. Moments away from the man who enveloped you in warmth and joy, who effortlessly brought laughter to your lips when you needed it most. Your heart fluttered with anticipation as his familiar, comforting voice reached your ears. With a quickened pace, you approached, a smile spreading across your face at the sight of his tousled hair.
However, as you finally reached him, your joy faltered at the presence of another girl – the infamous traveler, Lumine.
"Oh, n/n! I thought I had told you... I guess I forgot in the midst of everything," Ajax said, his smile directed towards Lumine.
"Tell me what?" you inquired, a knot forming in your stomach.
"Well... I actually don't need you for this mission this week. Lumine offered to help, and I couldn't refuse. She's quite renowned around here. So, you're free to do whatever you want!" Ajax's words stung, a pang of hurt piercing your chest. Despite years of fighting alongside him, you couldn't shake the feeling of being second choice. Yet, you managed to mask your disappointment with a forced acceptance.
"O-Oh... well, alright. If you'd rather go with her, then I suppose it's an opportunity for me to rest," you replied, attempting to quell the rising jealousy within you.
Ajax's smile and pat on your shoulder did little to ease the sting. "Thanks, y/n! I knew you'd understand! I'll catch up with you another time. How about joining me on my next mission? Next week?" he proposed.
Your smile returned, though tinged with a hint of sadness. "Sure! I'd love that."
"Great! See you then! Take care, n/n!" With that, Ajax departed with Lumine, leaving you with a fading smile and a heavy heart.
As they disappeared from view, your once-wide smile faded into a solemn frown. With a soft sigh, you turned on your heel, making your way back to Jean to relay what had transpired."
*****
"He did what!?" Jean's voice rang out with fury, her fists slamming onto the table. You couldn't help but widen your eyes, taken aback by Jean's uncharacteristic outburst.
"Jean, calm down. It's really not a big deal," you attempted to reassure her, though her agitation was palpable.
"No! He stood you up! Left you in the dust to be with that girl!" Jean's frustration boiled over, her tone laced with indignation.
"Lumine," you interjected softly, trying to bring a semblance of reason to the conversation.
"I don't care what her name is! What matters is that he abandoned my best friend," Jean retorted, her frustration evident in every word.
"Jean, please. He promised we can go another time. He even suggested I join him on his next mission," you explained, hoping to quell her anger.
"And you believe him? After what he did just now?" Jean's skepticism was palpable, her doubt weighing heavily in the air.
"Well... yeah," you replied hesitantly, feeling a pang of uncertainty.
Jean scoffed, turning away from you in frustration. "He made a mistake, Jean! I'm sure he didn't mean to. He just—" you started, attempting to defend Ajax.
"No. Don't make excuses for him. He's not a child anymore. Anyone with an ounce of decency would have known better," Jean interrupted, her voice tinged with disappointment.
You sighed, watching as Jean composed herself. "Sorry... it's just... I hate seeing you hurt. You're like the sister I never had. And when someone hurts someone close to me, I just... lose it," Jean confessed, her anger subsiding into a softer tone.
"I understand, Jean... but give him another chance. I truly believe this is just a one-time thing. He won't do it again. I know it," you reassured her, offering a small smile.
Jean looked away, lost in thought for a moment. After a deep breath, she relented. "Okay. If you trust him, then I guess I should too," she conceded with a smile.
"Good. Now, enough about him. Let's go get something to eat. I'm starving!" you suggested, pulling her out of her chair.
"You read my mind," Jean replied with a giggle, the tension between you gradually dissipating as you turned your attention to more pleasant matters.
*****
I woke up with excitement once again. Today was the day! The day I get to hang out with Ajax and go on an adventure with him for the weekend! I quickly got out of bed, took a shower, and got ready.
I grabbed my sword and ran out of the house, not wasting a minute. I scurried around people, finding my way to Ajax’s and our meetup spot—a lonely little area just outside Mondstadt. It took me a good 30 minutes to get there, but I made it just on time. And there he was, waiting... but again... he was not alone.
"Hey Ajax! I’m here!" I said, my smile faltering just a bit as I, once again, saw Lumine.
“Oh… hey n/n… hey listen-“ He started, but I cut him off.
“Are you ditching me again?” My voice quieted a bit, betraying my disappointment.
He looked away from me, avoiding my saddened eyes. “Look, y/n. This is a really tough mission… and it requires someone with a lot of strength and skill-“
“Are you saying I don’t have those?” I interjected, hurt evident in my tone.
“No! Not at all… but you don’t exactly have any… abilities… visions if you will. Lumine here does,” he explained, his words feeling like a blow to my heart.
“Oh…” I could barely muster a response, my disappointment weighing heavily on me.
“Look, n/n… I just don’t want you to get hurt. That’s all!” He tried to defend himself.
I looked up at him and nodded. “It’s okay, Ajax. I understand. I appreciate that you care for me that way. I’ll just see you next time. Maybe we could just hang out when you get back?” I suggested, trying to hide my disappointment.
“Well… Lumine and I were actually going to go out after our mission,” he added, crushing my hopes even further.
“Out?” I repeated, the disappointment evident in my voice.
“Yeah! You know, hang out for a bit. Show her around town and all that.”
“Oh. Okay. Well then how about the wee-“ I started, but he cut me off.
“How about I just contact you when I’m available? That way we can spend all day together! Does that sound good?” He asked, making me nod weakly.
“Y-Yeah. Sure!” I forced a smile, attempting to mask my disappointment.
He then placed his hand on my head. “Thanks for being so cooperative with me, n/n. I appreciate it.”
“Of course!” I replied, forcing cheerfulness into my tone.
“Well, we had better get going then. See ya later, n/n!” He yelled, grabbing Lumine's hand and running away.
I went back home, spending the rest of my day there. I didn’t tell Jean though. I just told her I was called on another trip that was more important.
******
As you lay in bed, tears streaming down your face, you couldn't shake the feeling of betrayal and inadequacy. Did Ajax really think you were too weak to fight alongside him? Despite not having a vision, you had proven yourself countless times in battle, standing shoulder to shoulder with Ajax against formidable foes. Yet, his actions spoke volumes, leaving you questioning your worth as a fighter and as a friend.
The presence of Lumine only exacerbated your turmoil. While everyone seemed enamored by her, you couldn't shake the feeling of unease that lingered whenever she was around. It was as if she held secrets, hidden behind her flawless facade. Perhaps it was just your own insecurities magnified by the situation with Ajax, but the doubt gnawed at you relentlessly.
With a heavy heart, you turned over in bed, unable to find solace in sleep. The events of the day replayed in your mind, tormenting you with thoughts of what could have been. Yet, despite the pain and uncertainty, you resolved to let it go, at least for the night. Dwelling on it further would only serve to deepen the wounds already inflicted.
Taking a deep breath, you closed your eyes, willing yourself to find peace amidst the chaos. Tomorrow was a new day, and with it, the possibility of clarity and resolution. For now, all you could do was surrender to the embrace of sleep, hoping that the morning would bring a sense of renewal and understanding.
*******
Months had passed since Ajax reached out to you. What’s worse is that he had been spending all of that time with Lumine. You want to speak with him? Sorry, he’s busy talking with Lumine. You want to spar with him? No chance, as he is already with Lumine. You want to hangout, even if it's just for a few minutes? No can do missy. He can’t waste any time now that he's hanging out with Lumine.
He was really getting on your nerves. He sometimes acted like you didn’t even exist to him and just straight up ignored you.
You had been so understanding with him, very fluid even.
You reached out to him today to see if he could hang out with you, but again, he denied. He said he had to babysit his little brother, who you knew very well as you had been his training teacher.
Unfortunately, as you were walking down the streets of Mondstat, you managed to see him and Lumine together…again.
The anger that simmered beneath the surface threatened to boil over as you realized Ajax had once again brushed you aside, opting to spend his time with Lumine instead.
With each rejection, each snub, Ajax's actions chipped away at your patience and understanding. How could he treat you this way after all you had been through together? The hurt and betrayal gnawed at your heart, fueling the fire of resentment that burned within you.
Finally reaching your breaking point, you confronted Ajax, your voice cutting through the air like a blade.
“Ajax!” You yelled, catching his and everyone else’s attention.
He was chuckling with Lumine, his arm wrapped around her.
Your suspicions had been confirmed about them…they had finally become a couple…just like that.
You felt hurt, angry, and sad.
When Ajax heard your voice, he turned with fear in his eyes as he realized he had been caught.
“N/n! W-What are you-“
*smack*
Everyone gasped as you slapped Ajax across the face. He looked at you with shock written all over his face
Tears were welling up in your eyes
“How could you!?”
He just stared down at you with confusion
“How could you just lie to me? Is that what you've been doing all this time? You’ve been lying to me? So you can be with her?!” You yelled as short sobs came out of your mouth.
“N/n…I-“
“Don’t ‘n/n’ me.” You interrupted
“After all these years, a girl suddenly comes in and just makes you change how you treat me!? For months, I have been nothing but understanding towards you! I even missed out on big events just to hang out with you, only to be turned down by you…even though you were the one who ‘promised’ to be with me on another occasion! Just so you could be with a girl you barely even know! She could be an enemy for all we know” You lashed out. Suddenly, Diluc and Kaeya came out to stop you. Ajax's attempts to explain fell on deaf ears as your anger boiled over, drowning out any semblance of reason. The intervention of Diluc and Kaeya was a distant echo in the chaos of your fury as you pushed them away, unwilling to be restrained.
In that moment, all you could see was the betrayal etched on Ajax's face, a painful reminder of the shattered trust that lay between you. As the crowd murmured in hushed tones around you, you stood there, raw and vulnerable, grappling with the wreckage of a friendship torn asunder.
"Get off of me!" you yelled at them, your voice trembling with rage and hurt.
They hesitated for a moment, exchanging uncertain glances, but ultimately stepped back, allowing you to confront Ajax without interference.
Ajax stood before you, shock still etched on his features, his hand reaching up to touch the reddening imprint of your slap on his cheek.
"N/n, I... I didn't mean to..." he began, his voice trailing off as he struggled to find the right words.
"Don't you dare try to justify this," you spat, your voice thick with emotion. "You've been lying to me, Ajax. Sneaking around with her behind my back, making excuses, ignoring me... Do you have any idea how that feels?"
"I-I didn't want to hurt you, n/n," Ajax stammered, desperation creeping into his voice. "I just... Lumine and I, we... it's complicated."
"Complicated? Complicated doesn't give you the right to treat me like I'm nothing," you shot back, tears now streaming down your cheeks unchecked. "You've been my partner, my friend for years, and now you throw it all away for some girl you barely know?"
Ajax opened his mouth to respond.
”Lumine is not just some girl! She’s special and she has done so much for our community!” He yelled back, growing frustrated with you.
"I don't want to hear it," you said, your voice cracking with emotion. "I trusted you, Ajax. I believed in you. And you've betrayed that trust in the worst possible way."
You stopped suddenly when you heard whispers going around you.
“Is she insane? Lumine could never hurt us!”
“She must be drunk.”
“She has no rights speaking that way of Lumine when she has done nothing for us.”
The murmurs around you cut deep, each word like a dagger to your wounded heart. But it was Ajax’s words that truly shattered your world. As he approached, his glare intensified, his voice laced with anger and disdain.
“You should leave,” he spat, his tone harsh and unforgiving. “Before you make everyone else mad. The way you speak about Lumine is unforgiving and unjust! You have no right to talk about her when you don’t even know who she truly is”
Your own anger surged in response. “Me!? What about you!?” you shot back, your voice trembling with emotion.
But Ajax’s response was like a final blow, leaving you reeling. “Enough! Go…you have done enough damage already. You have no right to talk about her like that, especially when she has done way more for this place than you ever have! All you can do is fight with a steel sword! You don’t even have a vision! Compared to her, you are nothing! A nobody!.”
His words pierced through you, leaving you feeling small and insignificant. The hatred in his eyes was like a knife to your heart, each word a painful reminder of the bond you thought you shared.
You looked around and saw everyone stare at you with the same look, even Diluc and Kaeya.
Tears welled up in your eyes again as you felt the sting of betrayal deep within your chest. Fine. If that’s what they want, then that’s what they’ll get.
You left the vicinity, tears streaming down your face, each step heavy with the weight of disappointment and hurt. Returning home, you collapsed onto your bed, your emotions a tumultuous storm raging within you.
******
Gazing at the picture of you and Ajax, memories of happier times flooded your mind. But now, those moments felt like distant echoes of a past that could never be reclaimed. With a surge of anger, you snatched the frame and hurled it to the ground, the glass shattering into a thousand shards mirroring the brokenness of your heart.
As you stared at the ruined photograph, Ajax's words echoed in your mind like a cruel mantra. "You have no right speaking about Lumine like that… you don’t even have a vision like her. You are nothing."
Curling up into a ball, you surrendered to the overwhelming wave of sorrow, your sobs echoing in the empty room. The pain of rejection and abandonment was almost too much to bear, leaving you feeling utterly alone and powerless.
Exhausted from the emotional turmoil, you drifted into a fitful sleep on the cold floor, your dreams haunted by echoes of lost friendships and shattered illusions.
*******
The next morning dawned with a pounding headache, a harsh reminder of the pain you couldn't escape. With a groan, you struggled to rise from your makeshift bed and stumbled to the sink, seeking solace in the promise of relief.
But as you opened the door, hope flickered within you at the sight of a note lying on your doorstep. Rushing forward, you eagerly seized it, praying for a sign of reconciliation from Ajax.
However, your hopes were swiftly dashed as you read the contents of the letter, each word like a dagger to your wounded spirit. It was a scathing rebuke from an anonymous sender, condemning you for your actions and branding you an embarrassment.
With a heavy heart, you crumpled the note in your hand, the weight of shame and rejection bearing down on you once more.
You saw a couple more next to your door, all the same types of letters. All of them belittling you for being worthless compared to Lumine or Ajax.
You crumpled up the papers and tossed them into the crackling fire, watching as they turned to ash before your eyes. But one stubborn piece refused to burn, its edges kissed by the flames but remaining untouched by their destructive force. Puzzled, you tried to push it deeper into the fire, but it stubbornly resisted, glowing with a strange golden light.
Frowning, you retrieved the unburnt paper from the fire, feeling its coolness against your fingertips. As you unfolded it, you were greeted by a mysterious emblem and a cryptic message, signed "L.E."
“Meet me in the forest near the old abandoned house you used to go to. There are some things we must discuss.”
Intrigued but skeptical, you dismissed it as junk and tore it up, tossing the pieces onto your table.
However, to your astonishment, the torn paper remained intact, defying the laws of nature. You couldn't help but feel a shiver of unease creeping down your spine as you approached the inexplicable phenomenon.
With a mixture of disbelief and curiosity, you read the message again, finding new words written elegantly on the paper, urging you to stop trying to destroy it and come talk to this mysterious figure named L.E.
Skeptical yet intrigued, you chuckled to yourself at the absurdity of the situation. Were you seriously considering meeting a stranger in the forest based on a bizarre message? Despite your doubts, a nagging feeling urged you to investigate further, curiosity tugging at your resolve.
Eh, why not. You’ve got nothing else to lose.
You folded the paper and stuffed it in your shoe, making sure it didn’t escape. You grabbed a new set of clothes and changed into them, grabbing a bag and a sword just in case. You looked back at your house and sighed
“Well, this might be it, big guy. Thanks for keeping me warm and safe. Hopefully you’ll do the same for another person.” You said as you went on your way.
You weren’t sure where this was going to go, but a part of you was excited to finally get out and explore…even if it meant endangering your life.
-time skip-
After a trek of about an hour, you arrived at the designated area, encountering minimal obstacles along the way. As you waited by the old house, anticipation building with each passing minute, you scanned the surroundings, hoping to catch a glimpse of your mysterious correspondent.
“I see you got my note,” a feminine voice cut through the silence, startling you. Reflexively, you drew your sword, ready to confront the unseen presence behind you, only to find yourself instantly thwarted.
Your eyes widened in disbelief as you beheld an older woman effortlessly holding your weapon with just two fingers.
“That’s quite enough of that, my dear. Your weapons pale in comparison to my abilities,” she declared with an air of authority.
“Who are you? And what do you want from me?” you inquired, your voice tinged with a mixture of curiosity and apprehension.
She chuckled softly. “Straight to the point, just like your ancestor, Atlas.”
“What?” you queried, your confusion mounting. She regarded you with a quizzical expression.
“You mean to tell me you don’t know who I am?” she asked incredulously.
You shook your head at her question about your knowledge of your family history.
“Oh dear…your parents must not have taught you anything then…especially not about your family history. Well, I guess I’ll have to fill you in. But first, let’s relax with some tea. It’s quite soothing,” she suggested, conjuring a teapot out of thin air and pouring a warm, fragrant brew into a cup.
“How did you-“
“Tea first, questions later,” she interrupted gently, offering you a cup.
You hesitated, but her calm demeanor put you at ease, so you decided to take a sip. The tea was surprisingly delightful, its smooth flavor calming your nerves.
“Nice, isn’t it?” she remarked with a soft smile.
“Very…” you agreed, taking another sip.
“Now, let’s talk about why I’ve asked you here,” she continued, pouring more tea into your cup before launching into her tale.
“My name is Lady Eleanor. And I'm here to be your guide.”
“Guide? For what?” you inquired, taking another sip of the soothing tea.
“For your destiny, my dear,” she replied, her tone serious but kind.
“Destiny? What do you mean?” you asked, intrigued.
“You, my dear y/n, have a significant role to play,” she explained.
“Role? What role?” you pressed, feeling a mix of curiosity and apprehension.
“You are meant to become the next guardian of a powerful force,” she revealed.
“Guardian? Of what?” you questioned, trying to grasp the magnitude of her words.
“For a unique and potent element,” she answered cryptically.
You sat in silence, absorbing her words and contemplating their implications, as she began to unravel the ancient history of your lineage and its connection to a remarkable element created thousands of years ago.
“Let me take you back to ancient times, nearly 30,000 years ago, when your ancestors forged a rare and powerful element. Among them were seven siblings, each endowed with a unique elemental vision. Scarlett wielded the fiery pyro vision, Evelyn mastered the Anemo vision, and Willow possessed the aqueous hydro vision. Ezra commanded the earthy geo vision, Axel harnessed the electric power of electro, Rowan controlled the frosty Cryo, and Atlas, the youngest and bravest, was attuned to the verdant Dendro.” She began
“Together, these siblings maintained harmony in the world, training others to wield elemental powers and fostering a utopian society. They worked in harmony, each contributing their elemental gifts to sustain peace and stability. In times of cold, the pyro wielders brought warmth, while hydro wielders nurtured the land with water in times of drought.”
“But envy and malice lurked in the heart of one man, Elias. Fueled by jealousy, he sought to claim the siblings' accolades for himself. Learning the secrets of pyro, hydro, and geo, he launched a devastating assault on the siblings, systematically defeating all but one.”
I stared at her, intrigued in all of this new information.
“Atlas, determined to protect his kin, merged the remaining visions, unwittingly creating a new element—Light. This act of courage and sacrifice marked the dawn of a new era, as evidenced by the emblem you received in the letter from me.”
She finished.
“This is the Light element, the pinnacle of elemental power. Atlas wielded it to not only control light but also to command the other elements, a feat that saved the world from certain chaos and destruction. Elias, his adversary, stood no chance against such unimaginable power. After his heroic deed, Atlas was revered as the almighty Archon, worshiped by all, though he sought only to protect and defend against evil. His lifespan extended significantly due to his newfound abilities, allowing him to safeguard humanity for centuries.”
"Centuries? Really?" You asked incredulously.
"Indeed," Lady Eleanor confirmed. "His descendants inherited this gift, passing it down through generations. But after the 10th host, the pattern ceased. The desire for the Light element waned, and subsequent hosts failed to master the seven elements. Now, you, y/n, have the opportunity to revive this legacy, to honor your ancestors and make a difference."
You were stunned by her words, feeling overwhelmed by the weight of such a monumental task. "Learning all seven elements!? It’s hard enough learning just one! I can’t do that!" you protested.
Lady Eleanor scoffed at your hesitation. "Of course, you can! Your ancestors did it, so why can't you?"
You faltered, struggling to find a rebuttal. "I...because...you..."
"No excuses. We must start training before it's too late," she insisted, gently nudging you forward.
"Too late?" You echoed, feeling a mixture of apprehension and determination settling in.
She turned to you with a grim expression.
"Every 1000 years, a new host is chosen... but that's because Elias' darkness resurfaces every millennium. Hence, these past millennia have been so tumultuous."
"I thought you said Elias was defeated!?" you interjected.
"He was defeated... but not his darkness," Lady Eleanor clarified. "You see, when a wielder uses their abilities for evil, their minds become corrupted by the elements. It's a matter of being one with the elements, using them for good, or being consumed by them. Elias, in his pursuit of power, created a new element—darkness. His malevolent magic endured beyond his demise, choosing a new host every 1000 years and taking control of their mind. And with each passing millennium, it grows stronger. This darkness drives people to commit unspeakable acts, and if it were to overpower the light element... well, the consequences would be catastrophic."
"But what about the 11th, 12th, 13th, and 14th hosts? Didn't the darkness defeat them?" you inquired, but she shook her head.
"For the darkness to truly triumph, it must vanquish the light element physically. As there hasn't been a true light elemental host in millennia, the darkness hasn't had the chance to prevail. However, with you as the new firstborn of the l/n family, you're the chosen one to confront this darkness. But we must commence your training now, before it's too late. The darkness typically doesn't manifest until a few years later, so time is of the essence. Are you in?"
You gazed at her incredulously. "How do I know I can trust you? I don't even know you personally," you challenged.
"I am Lady Eleanor, your trainer, tasked with preparing you to become the next host for the Light element," she affirmed with a smile.
"Yeah, but how do I know you're qualified to be a trainer? How do you know what to do?" you pressed.
She smiled knowingly. "Fight me, and you'll see," she proposed, prompting you to balk.
"No way! I'm not fighting an older woman like you! It's unethical!" you protested.
Suddenly, a gust of wind knocked you off the log you were perched on.
“What the hell!?” you exclaimed, as Lady Eleanor smirked.
“Come on, fight me. Or are you too weak? Just like that boy told you yesterday,” she taunted, causing your eyes to widen.
“How do you—”
“I’m well acquainted with everything happening around these parts, my dear. After all, I call this place home,” she explained, her smile widening.
“Now, are you going to fight me? Or just stand there looking pretty?” She said, making you frustrated.
“Alright, let’s see what you’ve got,” you replied, determined not to back down from the challenge.
You lunged at her with your sword, only to find a massive rock materialize between you, denting your weapon.
“My sword!” you cried out in frustration, glaring at Lady Eleanor.
Undeterred, you charged at her again, but she effortlessly disarmed you and swiftly countered your moves. Despite your efforts, you found yourself face-planted on the ground, feeling a mix of embarrassment and determination.
Lady Eleanor extended a hand to assist you to your feet, her expression softened with understanding. "You're too slow and too consumed by negative emotions," she advised gently, her voice carrying the wisdom of experience. "Inner peace is key, even in the midst of battle."
As you regained your footing, her words sank in, reminding you of the importance of maintaining a clear mind and calm demeanor, even in the face of adversity.
"I have been everyone's trainer besides Atlas'," Lady Eleanor continued, her gaze reflecting a mix of reverence and nostalgia. "He was the one who trained me... for I am the second holder of the light element."
Her revelation about being the second holder of the light element left you speechless, your eyes widening in astonishment.
“Show me then!” you demanded eagerly, hoping for a glimpse of her power.
But Lady Eleanor shook her head regretfully. “I cannot. Once I had my children, I made the choice to relinquish my light vision to be with them. It was a decision between keeping the light element or keeping my family.” she explained
“You chose what was most important to you?” you queried, seeking reassurance.
She nodded solemnly in response, her sincerity evident in her eyes.
“How do I know you’re not lying?” you pressed, your skepticism surfacing once more.
In response, Lady Eleanor lifted her wrist, revealing the luminous symbol of the light element engraved upon it. Its brilliance spoke volumes, validating her words without the need for further explanation.
“When a new holder for this element has succeeded in obtaining the gift, a symbol is engraved in their wrist for eternity. This is how you can trust me.” She said
You gasped in realization, finally grasping the authenticity of her words. “You… you really are telling the truth!” you exclaimed, a mix of surprise and relief flooding through you, making her roll her eyes in amusement.
“I’ve only been trying to say that about a hundred times,” she quipped with a hint of playful exasperation. Then, extending her hand toward you, she posed the ultimate question, “Are you in? Or are you out? The choice is yours.”
You hesitated, contemplating the weight of the decision before you. Did you truly want this responsibility, with the fate of humanity resting in your hands?
But Lady Eleanor’s reminder echoed in your mind: “Remember… a real warrior never backs down from a challenge. Are you a true warrior?”
With a newfound determination burning within you, you looked up at her and met her gaze squarely. Without a moment’s hesitation, you reached out and clasped her hand firmly, resolving to prove to yourself and everyone else that you were capable of far more than they ever imagined.
“Let’s do this.”
-back with Ajax-
It had been weeks since Ajax had last seen y/n. He felt horrible for what he said…but a part of him didn’t as well and that just made him feel worse. He had tried to reach out to you, but you never responded to him. He decided to go to Jean to see if she knew what was up with you.
*****
Ajax's frustration boiled over as he questioned Jean. "You and y/n are practically sisters! How can you not know where she is?"
Jean met his gaze, her tone gentle yet firm. "And you've been best friends with her since birth, Childe." She replied, making Ajax scoff.
"Then where is she if neither of us knows?" Ajax demanded, his impatience evident.
Jean paused. "Let's go check her house. I've been concerned about her too," she suggested, lying through her teeth. She rose to her feet with determination.
*****
The two knocked urgently on your door, their voices echoing through the empty house. With no response, Ajax's worry escalated, prompting him to kick the door open.
"Childe!"
"What? It could be an emergency," he defended, his concern palpable.
Inside, they called out for you, but the silence only deepened their apprehension. Their shock was evident as they surveyed the barren rooms, stripped of your belongings.
"What the hell?!" Ajax exclaimed, while Jean moved about the space.
Meanwhile, Ajax ascended the stairs to your room, his anxiety mounting. Upon entering, his heart clenched at the sight of the empty space. However, amidst the absence, one object remained—a broken picture frame. Carefully, he retrieved it from the floor, his chest heavy as he recognized the photo within. It was a picture of you and him from childhood.
"She... kept this? After all these years?" he murmured, his voice laced with emotion.
"It looks like she left it behind too... especially after you broke her heart with your harsh words," Jean revealed.
"What do you mean?" Ajax asked, confusion clouding his expression.
"Don't play dumb with me. She told me everything you said to her. And believe me, if she allowed me, I would've killed you already. But she made me promise not to, as long as she promised to pay me a visit every now and then after she left," Jean explained, her tone tinged with resentment.
"You knew she left!?" Ajax's voice rose in anger, his glare fixed on Jean.
"Why the hell didn't you tell me!?"
"Why should I? It's not like you would've cared anyways! You were a total dick to her, and I'm glad she's far away from here! Away from you!" Jean retorted, her own frustration boiling over.
“Well then why’d you even decide to come with me? Huh?”
”I don’t owe you any explanation.” She yelled back
Ajax stepped closer, his anger flaring. "You little—"
"Say it! Will it make you feel better? Especially knowing that you were the reason she left?” She yelled at him.
”You called her a nobody….said she was nothing. After everything she’s done for you….You should be ashamed of yourself, Childe" Jean interrupted, her words piercing through Ajax's defenses.
Now visibly shaken, Ajax recoiled, his hurt evident on his face.
"Now that you know everything, I'm going to leave. I don't want to see your face ever again…" Jean declared, turning on her heel and slamming the door behind her.
Ajax stared at the door, then down at the photo. He didn’t know what to feel…he was…confused. But why? He had Lumine…that’s all that mattered…right? It shouldn’t matter that you were gone…
But no matter what excuses he made for himself…he couldn’t get over the fact that he had lost you…his best friend…maybe something even more than just best friends…
Then and there is when he truly felt regret as tears started to fill up in his eyes…
”What have I done?”
