“ you can’t help me! ” -kyo 😔
"Why not?" The fish-out-of-temporal-water questioned, genuinely hurt. "Look, I don't know why y'want the fruit, Nijimura. I don't care why, neither. I jus' know that it's... really important t'ya, so I wanna help in any way I can. Regardless've yer reservation y'got goin' on."
She brings her hands together, water swirling in her palm as its transmuted into a fresh fig that she presents, holding it out into the light. "If I get m'hands on its chemical structure, if I can study a sample, I can make as many've the bastards as y'need! I'm offerin' ya m'Stand's ability-- an' yer too stubborn t'listen t'me? T'trust me?"
The fig... collapses, and turns into dried grass as Hikari returns the water to her body. She transmutes the remaining material to a greenish-brown dust. Violet eyes stare vacantly in dissapointment, and, if one really took a look, genuine terror. "I need the fruit, Nijimura. It might be the key home. I can't get a sample alone. I need yer help, too, like I know y'need mine."

In the bustling city of Agrabah, Lucas and m/n had become inseparable. Their love had flourished and taken root, weaving a tapestry of passion and devotion that seemed to defy the constraints of time. Their secret meetings in the palace gardens had now become cherished traditions, a sacred place where they could share their dreams and fears without the judgment of the outside world.
One evening, as they strolled through the moonlit gardens, Lucas playfully plucked a flower from a nearby bush and tucked it behind the m/n's ear. "You look even more enchanting with this," he said, his eyes sparkling with affection. The m/n chuckled, his heart warmed by Lucas's charm. "And you look like a prince out of a fairy tale," he replied, admiration shining in his eyes.
Lucas smiled, his heart swelling with happiness. "You know, sometimes I feel like this is all a dream. That I'm just a street rat who stumbled upon a palace and found the most incredible person in the world," he confessed, his voice filled with sincerity. The m/n took Lucas's hand in his own, squeezing it gently. "You are so much more than that, Lucas. You are my world," he said, his voice soft and tender.
In that moment, they were interrupted by the sound of footsteps approaching. Panic washed over them as they realized they were no longer alone. Quickly, they pulled away from each other, trying to compose themselves. To their surprise, it was the genie, Jackson, who had appeared before them, a knowing smile on his face. "Ah, young love. It's a beautiful sight to behold," he said, his voice warm and teasing.
Lucas felt a blush creep up his cheeks, but he couldn't deny the happiness that filled his heart. "You're not going to tell anyone, are you?" he asked, trying to sound playful despite his nerves. Jackson laughed, his eyes twinkling with mischief. "Fear not, my dear master. Your secret is safe with me. I am here to grant your wishes, not to meddle in your love affairs," he replied, waving his hand theatrically.
M/n chuckled, feeling a sense of relief wash over him. "Thank you, Jackson. We appreciate your discretion," he said, his gaze lingering on Lucas, who smiled back at him. "Oh, it's my pleasure! You two make quite the enchanting pair," Jackson said, his tone sincere. "Now, if there's anything else you desire, just give me a shout. I'll be off, then!" With a theatrical bow, he disappeared into a puff of smoke.
As they watched the genie vanish, Lucas and m/n couldn't help but laugh. "He's something else, isn't he?" Lucas remarked, shaking his head in amusement. "He certainly is," m/n agreed, his heart filled with gratitude for the magical friend who had brought them together.
In the days that followed, Lucas and m/n continued to explore the depths of their love, finding joy in the simple moments they shared. They reveled in each other's presence, discovering new facets of their personalities with each passing day. Their love remained a secret, known only to the stars that watched over them and the genie who had inadvertently played a part in their love story.
Yet, as much as they cherished their stolen moments, they longed for a day when they could openly express their love for each other without fear of judgment or repercussions. In their hearts, they knew that their love was worth fighting for, that the world deserved to witness the magic they had found in each other's arms.
And so, they held onto hope, knowing that someday, they would be able to dance through the streets of Agrabah hand in hand, with the entire world celebrating their love. For now, though, they found solace in the quiet intimacy of their secret love, knowing that they had a love that was as vast as the desert sands, as bright as the stars in the night sky, and as enduring as a tale passed down through generations.

Hi! May I ask for a Buddha with a fem reader who is very similar to Jataka? She is very sweet on the outside, but has a calm, stoic personality. She struggles with lack of desire and depression.
A/N: Hello! Of course you can, I hope you enjoy what I managed to write from your request!! ♡
You remind me so much of him 💙💛
Tumblr media
Buddha & fem!reader
➩ Y/N was just resting under a bodhi tree, the weight of sadness hanging heavily upon her. Though luckily enough for her Buddha, someone she is very close with sees her and realized right away something was up.
He was prepared to comfort her, and only her until they soon found themselves both comforting each other. Sharing things they'd never spoken about and their bond growing ever so stronger!
➩ Reader type: platonic/romantic comfort with Buddha & Fem!reader
⚠: depression, discussion of loosing a loved one and then finding comfort in someone similar to said loved one.
Tumblr media
In the tranquil gardens of the monastery, where the fragrance of blooming lotus flowers fell with the soft rustle of leaves, Buddha found Y/N sitting alone beneath the shade of a Bodhi tree.
Her tan skin glowed softly in the dappled sunlight, and her long locks of white hair flowed around her like a shimmering waterfall.
Approaching her with gentle steps, Buddha sensed the weight of melancholy that hung heavy upon Y/N's shoulders.
He knew the struggle all too well, the feeling of sadness that he had suppressed for quite sometime.
It was Y/N who in specific had reminded him too much of this one, certain person he could never get out of his mind.
His beloved older brother, Jakata, who had departed this world long ago.
Maybe that's why he was sticking around this woman for so long, Buddha sometimes would ask himself.
Or perhaps it was because of her sweet personality and calm, stoic demeanour.
"Y/N," Buddha said softly, his voice carrying a soothing warmth.
"I can tell when something is off. Tell me, what weighs upon your heart this evening?"
Y/N looked up, her dark blue eyes reflecting a mix of sorrow and gratitude at Buddha's presence.
She wished nothing more than for Buddha to start worrying about her!
"Oh..it's this emptiness inside me," she confessed, her voice barely above a whisper.
"But please, I wouldn't want to bother you by sharing my sorrows Buddha!"
Buddha chuckled to himself before taking a seat beside Y/N, gently taking her hand in his, offering her his full support.
"No, let me hear every last bit Y/N. I know how it can be sometimes and holding it in isn't the way, so please speak whenever~"
Nervous and hestinant at first Y/N wasn't sure how to exactly describe her delema and what she was feeling, until the words just started to pour out of her mouth like running water.
"I lack desire for anything, the motivation in doing my daily tasks are gone and the weight of this despair suffocates me.."
Buddha nodded understandingly, his own memories of despair and longing resurfacing. She must've been suffering from a deep depression for whatever reason.
"I, too, have felt this suffocating feeling, you know Y/N. You remind me of someone who was once very important to me."
Buddha began, his voice resonating with empathy. Y/N would look at Buddha, raising an eyebrow of concern. He had never opened up to anyone like this before, not to her own knowledge at least!
"Oh? Who is it, please I'm willing to listen in return for your kindness and understanding!"
"My older brother, his name was Jakata. He looked just like you..a spinning fair image."
"Jakata huh? We're we similar in personalities too, if I may ask."
Y/N said with a small smile widening on her lips as she tilting her head. Buddha only nodded in response, smiling back at her.
"He was, but you're even sweeter. Just remember this, dear Y/N, even in the depths of despair, there lies the seed of enlightenment."
As Buddha spoke, his words wove a tapestry of wisdom and compassion, helping Y/N in understanding and finding her eventual hope in getting back on her feet.
"I'll support you through your rough times like you've always done for me Y/N."
"D-Done for you..? What could I have possibly done to help you."
"My simply existing and coming into my life."
Moved by Buddha's words Y/N almost felt herself speechless, she wasn't aware of Buddha's own struggles. Let alone the fact she had been helping him with simply being herself around him.
Tears swelled up in her eyes dark blue eyes, almost as deep as the oceans itself, as she quickly took a deep breath to calm herself.
"Thank you Buddha, truly I.. I don't know what to say. Could you be this seed of enlightenment then?"
Buddha just looked away from her, grinning and suddenly pulling her close into a hug from the side. With each passing moment, Y/N felt the weight of her burdens begin to lift, replaced by a sense of clarity and peace.
Knowing that In Buddha's presence, not only could she find refuge from the storm raging within her, but help him as well.

FUCK I FORGOT TO REPLY TO THESE
3.) What was their first impression of each other?
-PK: This one is pretty much exactly as I anticipated. Frightened, fleeting, full of untapped potential. Capable of using Sight, which is unusual. Tricky that he's one of the Nightmare King's creation, but the links back to the Troupe are scrubbed clean- there is only Hallownest in this one. Soul capacity is a bit weak, but with time...
...He's looking me in the eyes. He is not blinded by my light. He sees me. Interesting.
-Lurien: Oh, he's less intimidating than expect- BURNING LIGHTS A FUTURE UNFOLDING MILLIONS OF PATHWAYS EYES IN THE DARK DROWNING IN THE DEEP A RADIANCE SO PURE AND COLD IT FLAYS THE WORLD OPEN AND MAKES A TAPESTRY OF ITS POSSIBILITIES
(Lurien did not have fun with that one shfjdjs. But he was also enraptured)
7.) How often do they say 'I love you?'
-Almost not at all lmfao. Or, well, Lurien does- but he's sneaky about it, and doesn't like to say it directly, and I imagine that it would take some years of being in a romantic relationship before he moves on to what he prefers, which are pet names like 'my dear, my love'. I feel like he would only ever say 'I love you' outright if it was his confession, and if he's confessing his love to PK then he's doing it because he thinks he's on death's door- or has already passed it, and found that he no longer cares more about properity than himself.
PK's affection is almost entirely told through possessive titles and actions, so he never says it outright. He doesn't need to, though- Lurien can read him like a book, and that in of itself is why he loves him. It's also what Lurien is the most responsive to, because he spends more time around shady politicians and bored nobility than PK, so for him words mean very little compared to actions, and he knows his lord well enough that hearing PK say 'I love you' would likely be suspect.
30.) What are their respective love languages? Do their love languages work well together?
-HA just kinda answered this, but Lurien's are words of affirmation and quality time with a desire to receive physical comfort while PK's is acts of service and quality time and giving physical comfort, so you bet your ass they work well together. Maybe it doesn't work out for them in initially getting them together (like I said a million times over, I can't see them getting together in the canon timeline bc both of them are too dedicated to Hallownest and surviving The Plot), but in aus where they do, they meld together very well. They're very much a pair where dates are just them spending time together working out problems or simply lying in each other's arms discussing things at length + sex. It helps that Lurien is touch starved and is keenly aware that PK is touch adverse, so the fact that PK willingly seeks physical comfort in him is a massive boon, while PK is happiest when he's giving Lurien whatever he wants or needs
38.) Who's got a quicker temper?
-Depends! My kneejerk response was actually Lurien, but I feel like in terms of overall touchiness, PK is actually easier to anger...as long as you're a god. The problem lies mostly in the fact that PK himself is terrible at telling his own moods, and also that if you're a mortal who isn't noteworthy enough to catch his attention, you're not really going to incite more than irritation. He gets angry at anything that he sees as a threat to Hallownest, his claim over his territory, or his territory itself (or themselves, since wyrm affection is all about posession and mating/breeding rights are implicitly tied to the ability to hold territory and power), so if you never hit the 'threat' classification and you're not making his loved ones upset, you're not going to actually anger him.
Lurien, on the other hand, is much more impatient and defensive, but this is bc he's disproportionatly exposed to infuriating people by virtue of being the head of the City, so his temper SEEMS much quicker than it actually is. Generally speaking, he's fine, but he's also dealing with like 10 million karens per year as well as changing social structures and an endless tasklist of Problems and anxiety disorders on top of it all. Dude doesn't have a quick temper, he's just often under stress and that tends to lead to snappy behavior. Otherwise he's perfectly happy just helping people, discussing philosophy, and painting cityscapes while drinking tea

As is now tradition when picking up a new companion, time to have our "by the way I know nothing and I crave the blood of the innocent" conversation with Wyll.
Tumblr media
"I've got no memory of my past. Could the parasite have done that?"
Tumblr media
"Seems unusual to me," Wyll says thoughtfully. Then he grins crookedly. "Then again, we're talking about tadpoles inserted into our brains by rubber-skinned tentacle monsters. There's nothing usual about it. All the more reason to stick close, I think you'll agree."
The humor is sort of lost on Rakha, but the point isn't. Everything about this is strange; her plight is just one more bit of strangeness layered through it all. And the reminder is salient too - that there is some value to keeping those like Wyll, those who understand the situation, close. That she should resist the urge more strongly when it comes to those in their little band. It's a practical thought, grounded in survival.
She files it alongside the other advice that has so far given some small measure of tenuous authority over her own mind. Stick close. Yes.
Tumblr media
"I've got this... bloodthirst. An urge to destroy, maim, kill."
Tumblr media
Wyll squints thoughtfully at her. His hand moves just slightly towards his sword, then relaxes. "Anger I understand," he says slowly. "We've been preyed on by illithids, suffered insertion of a mind-bending worm." A pause. "Bloodthirst is another matter."
He looks her up and down, perhaps comparing her to the rage that she already felt in his own head - desire for the destruction of Avernus, of the target he pursues. "But perhaps not too big of one," he adds ruefully. "If it's a devil or demon's flesh you're wanting to tear."
A strange world, this. Her rage and blood-hunger is indiscriminate; let loose she is sure the beast would devour the world. But to the others around her, those with clearer minds, there are some corpses more palatable than others. It bears thinking about - the idea that it is possible to have any choice in the matter of who lives and who dies.
She wants to ask him about the strange magic that dances through him. It is sharp and cold; it tastes bitter when she stands close to him, nothing like her own. But she does not have the words to articulate those questions, not yet; perhaps Gale can provide them later. For now, she sticks to something easier.
Tumblr media
"I've noticed your stone eye," she says bluntly. "Did you lose it in battle?"
Tumblr media
A tight frown tugs his lips. "A most vicious one, in fact," he says flatly. "It's made from pure bloodstone, carved from the Galena Mountains just north of the Moonsea. A reminder that sometimes, blood must be shed and sacrifices must be made."
Sacrifices she has little interest in. But blood must be shed. That, she certainly comprehends. Bloodstone. The word is unfamiliar but tastes intriguing. She leans forward, peering into the pale half of his gaze with unabashed curiosity.
Wyll shifts uncertainly, takes a step back. "Ah, but that is a story reserved for lifetime friends," he says, "and calmer days."
Tumblr media
Rakha completely misses the pointed undertone to these words; she is far too interested in piecing together these new pieces of information.
[SORCERER] Lean in and examine the eye more closely.
Narrator: Tiny grooves spider across the eye's surface. It resembles a sending stone, used to confer with distant contacts.
She is not sure where she pulls the word from. She has never seen an object like this, at least not to her recollection. But with this closer examination she can see the way that those grooves are carefully placed, the way they mix and meld with the magic that saturates him and outward into the wider tapestry of magic that coats the world.
It is a focal point, a collector of information and a transmitter along those interconnected forces. And the word comes to her tongue before she fully understands it.
"Isn't your eye a sending stone?" she asks slowly.
Tumblr media
He flinches. "A... sending stone?" A shaky smile, slightly too slow. "Nothing so special, I assure you."
Tumblr media
Narrator: [INSIGHT] His breathing quickens. His jaw tenses. Wyll is keeping something from you.
Anger flares behind her eyes. Secret. Manipulation. Danger-- She feels the stab at her temple in tandem with the need for information.
Narrator: A strange sensation courses through you, and your companion's mind unfolds, secrets half-revealed.
The strange push of the tadpole connection, as right-feeling as it felt to control the console back on the ship. She needs to know what he is hiding. She needs to take the information if he will not give it. She does not think she wishes to kill him but she can feel that the beast will take control if the precarious trust erodes too far.
[ILLITHID][WISDOM] Enter his mind. What isn't he telling you?
Tumblr media
Wyll's head snaps back and his eyes narrow. "What are you--" he gasps out.
Tumblr media
Narrator: Something stirs deep within you. Hungry and alert-- it's taking something you'll never get back.
The pain sizzles between them like a lightning strike; the tadpole gives an abrupt and visceral squirm, far stronger than she expected, and she feels something like a layer of her brain being peeled away. For a moment her vision goes white.
Then... images.
Narrator: Your right eye vibrates and a woman's voice echoes in your head. 'I've a sweet tooth, and devil's on the menu.' Beyond the voice you find only shadow - a piece of Wyll's mind locked away from intruders."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The image fades; her vision clears to find Wyll glaring at her with his blade in his hand. "Keep out of my mind!" he snaps, with a ferocity she wouldn't have credited him with. "I told you. The eye's a rock, nothing more. And that's the end of it!"
Tumblr media
Tempting, to respond to his ferocity with her own, to lash out preemptively before he can strike. But he does not strike, and neither does she; they simply stand there, eyes locked, for a long moment.
More facts. More details. His eye is a transmitter, whatever he says. Some woman speaks in his head. She instructed him to kill devils. She might instruct him to kill me.
He has the tadpole, which means he will not die for now. There is too much she might yet be able to learn from him about what has been done to her. But there is danger here. This man had a kindness that should be weakness, but his blade has seen oceans of blood. He feels the same rage she does at his mind being toyed with, but he does not strike.
She does not understand him at all.

True Q: Some interesting observations
***DISCLAIMER: A more lengthy post. ***
I saw True Q a couple of days ago, and it occurred to me that when you think about Q's demeanor in the episode and compare it to his demeanor in Tapestry and even DS9's Q-Less, it leads to some pretty interesting places .
#1. Q doesn't focus his attentions and affections on Picard like he does in the other episodes.
Tumblr media
Q looks very detached from Picard here. He is all business with Picard in True Q.
Tumblr media
In fact, except for the "Pals" moment, Q isn't very seductive towards his Favorite in True Q.
Instead, if you notice, Q directs his attention a LOT towards--Beverly. No, really he does.
Tumblr media
He spends quite a bit of time antagonizing her.
Tumblr media
He just does not like her.
Tumblr media
Q interacts with Picard, sure. But, he is closed off from him.
Tumblr media
#2. Q spends a lot of his time looking at Beverly.
When you watch the True Q episode, if you pay close attention to the direction of Q's line of sight, such as in the conference room scene in which he first appears, Q doesn't look at Picard that much, but looks at Beverly a lot.
In the final scene below when Amanda says goodbye, Beverly is standing in front of Q and Amanda; Picard is off to the side. Amanda is glancing at Picard, but Q's gaze falls in Beverly's direction. Except when he swears to Picard that he isn't responsible for the crisis on Tagra IV, Q doesn't even look at Picard.
Tumblr media
#3. Q hates the assignment the Continuum has given him. Why would the Q Continuum choose Q out of all the other Qs, to bring Amanda to the fold?
Q is just NOT a happy entity in True Q. Was Q being punished? Was Q on trial to prove his worthiness or loyalty to the Continuum?
Was this why Q was colder towards Picard? Was Q humiliated?
If the object of your deepest heart's desire is watching you do a job that you absolutely hate, and one that you just want to get over with asap, you can feel a sense of, "Don't look at me. I'll pretend you're not here."
Because note that once the job with Amanda is over, and Q is free again in Tapestry, look how happy he is with Picard!
Tumblr media
#4 Let's consider that
True Q first aired Nov 2nd 1992.
Q-Less first aired on February 7th, 1993.
Tapestry first aired February 15th, 1993
When Q appeared in True Q, he was theoretically with Vash.
Q may not have been getting along with Vash, which is likely considering she didn't really like him, and we know that Q liked to talk about Picard a lot.
Q got Vash away from Picard because he didn't want her to have him in Q-pid.
Vash = competition
Now, in True Q (Nov 2nd) Q sees Beverly, who is always around Picard.
Beverly = competition
I think Q was in a headspace where he was really frustrated that Vash and Beverly had Jean-Luc, and he couldn't have him.
#5. For an omnipotent god, Q has plenty of competitors standing in his way to Picard's heart.
**I could never figure out why Q said the things he did when he was questioning Amanda about her powers while Picard and Beverly were standing there.
Q to Amanda: Telekinesis? Teleportation?
(Turns to look at Picard)
Q: Spontaneous combustion of someone you don't like?
I never understood that line, because Q loves Picard. But, looking at that line from the perspective of Q having competition from Vash and Beverly for Jean-Luc's love, I believe Q was so sick of it and basically tried to ward off Amanda from possibly loving Picard, too.
Q was like: Not you, too, Amanda. You DON'T like Picard.
#6. FINALLY, well, we later have Q-less on Feb 7th, and one day after Valentines Day, Q is all happy to be with his Jean-Luc in Tapestry.
Q's demeanor is a gazillion times more pleased to be with Picard--no Continuum homework to do--and he has a chance to seduce Picard without any competition from women in his life.
Tumblr media
Conclusion:
It's funny how the timing of episodes can contibute to a character's arc.
All Q wants to do is to love Jean-Luc Picard without any competition.

How do you deal with all the hate directed towards Elvis? He wasn’t a saint but some people are so intense for their hatred for him online that it kinda takes the run out of being a fan :/
hi anon! okay, so the first thing i'm going to do is link you to my love tam's @headfullofpresley reply to this question because she recently answered it very well and more succinctly than what i'm about to write.
i am not on the clock app, which is where i gather a lot of this is coming from? but i know the breakdown of that hate comes in three basic forms - 1. COMPLETELY false and easily disprovable accusations of racism that have somehow spread over the internet for years. (there are countless sources to dispel this, this touches on a mere few.) this has somehow entwined itself with the idea that he "stole" music, which is categorically untrue, and while absolutely there is a factor there regarding the fact that he could succeed differently due to being a handsome white man in a still segregated and tumultuous time, his music and his melding of gospel and r&b was never malicious, it was inspired by absolute love. he also actively supported charities, including black and jewish organizations. his generosity and kindness wasn't limited or biased at all. 2. people victimizing priscilla as if she isn't allowed to speak for herself and tell her own story, one in which she has never claimed that and i don't personally believe anyone else has the right to decide that for someone. (which @bcofl0ve has addressed well here and here). 3. really upsetting and damaging ableism that has persisted in many ways since his death, where people make certain insinuations and judgments about his health and choices with disdain rather than any understanding. this is a problem in that it tends to demonize addiction and weight and other issues rather than approaching that sympathetically.
moreover, i do believe it's a real problem with current social media that we expect sainthood from anyone. demanding unimpeachable behavior and strict nearly puritanical morality from anyone is never going to be attainable. the legendary music, the various iconography and images aside, at the core of it all, he was a person. people have faults and flaws, they make mistakes, everyone is affected by whatever trauma and grief and struggles they may face, and the pressures of that intense, and quite unprecedented when elvis' star rose, level of fame are unimaginable. was he perfect? absolutely not. but being perfect isn't the same as being good. and when you delve into his life and his beliefs, his feelings about other people and reaching out to them, his connection to his music (be it rock and roll, gospel, or anything in between), the way he searched often for meaning, how he had that desire to extend kindnesses to others and to make others happy...there's so much, and the accounts from those who knew and loved him paint a picture of someone who certainly was fallible, but was undoubtedly good. and i think that's an important distinction to make - perfection simply isn't real. human beings are never one thing - we're fragile and resilient and angry and loving and impulsive and kind, and that's never one facet at a time, it's all at once. if you can only look at someone from a judgmental, "this is problematic!," point of view, you're frankly NEVER going to be able to interact compassionately or genuinely. if you look at someone and define them by their mistakes and condemn that without nuance (and you know what i mean by this, obviously we are not speaking of unforgivable actions here), you're never going to be able to embrace the full person, but it also limits understanding and compassion for anyone. i just feel it's vital to look at the entire tapestry of who someone is, and the full measure of their light and heart.
and then i'm just going to reiterate what tam said - haters (of anything) are miserable and tend to be misinformed and thrive on that mean-spiritedness, and that's so antithetical to how i interact with things i love that i don't have time for it and don't think it deserves energy. if something makes you happy, please don't let outside noise steal that! we know and can easily explore what was inherent to his heart and soul. we can hear the beauty and innovation and joy in his music. if that's providing you a sense of comfort and happiness and fun, that's what matters most. if someone doesn't get it, that's their problem. you are always allowed to love things. 💗💗💗

"Don't give them the satisfaction, the fucks."
"Why not? They fuckin' started it, didn't they?!" She rolls up her sleeves and spits hot venom. They started it, and she'd damn well be the one to finish it. Only reprimand she'd get from Tenmei would be him chastising her for the mess left behind-- and then patting her on the back for standing up for herself.
A bat is produced by her Stand's energy, the spikes of the cactus arm curving and hooking for good measure. Her visible eye glances at Bernadotte, mischief alight. "I'd stay back if I were you. Yer in the splash zone."

PT. 17 Stolen
Tumblr media
Word count: 1.7k (6 mins read)
Characters: Livia Novik, Ominis Gaunt.
Summary
Ominis isolates himself from his friends in the wake of the Collector's first leeching. Livia doesn't hesitate to skip class to visit him, and they share a moment in a secret peaceful place.
Read the next chapter below.
Song list: Empty, by PVRIS.
Ominis | Hogwarts, Early October, 1893.
A boy is given a memory to cherish. It isn't the kind you trap in a frame, but the kind you water with moments spent reliving it; the kind you prune with care so the weeds won't strangle it.
Yet one day, the boy wakes to an overgrown garden, and amidst the brier and the conquering ivy, the memory is curled onto itself, browned and wilted and dead.
Everything dissipates.
The water in a pond. The pain from a wound. A slab of dark clouds eclipsing the sun.
A memory.
For two days, Ominis only leaves his room to attend his classes, and even then, his body sits on a chair, but his attention meanders to the things he abandoned in the Room of Requirement.
At first, he is angry with Livia for manipulating him into joining the first leeching—for her display at the lake can be nothing else than that. This is now apparent to him. But then, even this dissipates, and ire sublimates into fear.
Fear to forget what it is like to belong. Fear to forget what it is like to see. Fear to forget what Livia looks like.
It is only on the third day Ominis realizes the green in her eyes has desaturated, the darkness of her hair has dimmed, her smile has etiolated.
Now she lives, a mangled vision, in a corner of his brain where she will rot beyond recognition, and one day, the dance with her will be a timeworn tapestry, riddled with holes and torn seams, and she will become an impoverished sensation; a watery afterthought.
Everything fades, and everyone dies twice. First, when life leaves their body, then when memory fails those they left behind.
Ominis told Sebastian about his ordeal. There was no way he'd weather the stubborn Slytherin's inquisition without caving. He would do anything, however, to evade Sebastian's pity, and crawl back into the shell of solitude to lick his wounds, but his friend hauls him along until one day Ominis pretends he is coming down with a terrible headache and cannot make it to Potions class.
And that day is the day Livia Novik also chooses to skip class to visit him.
As soon as he opens the door, he can smell this exhalation of vanilla and blackcurrant, noses the faint scent of dust from the books she read, the heady funk of ink from the quill she held.
"Can I come in?"
Wordlessly, he pivots to let her inside his bedroom, then shuts the door behind them. There is the faint groan of the mattress; the squeak of the hinges on his bed.
He leans against his desk, endeavoring to smooth the crinkles in his trousers as if he is suddenly made aware Livia can—and will—note all of his imperfections now that he isn't trussed in a tailored suit and a silken cravat. "How did you make it inside the Slytherin common room?"
"I used to Mimic. Pointed it at Sebastian and had it tell me the password."
"You're too clever for this world, you know that?"
She sheds a chuckle. "It's my curse, Ominis Gaunt."
His tone darkens. "Yeah, we all have one."
"I'm sorry about it all, Ominis," Livia says, her voice bleak. "I saw what you experienced in the manor. If I knew, I wouldn't have—"
"Manipulated me into doing it?"
An agitated silence cotters between them. It is laced with unease.
How much did she see?
Could she pick apart his desires from the display? Did she eye all of his fears as they hung on the walls of his illusion alongside his family portraits?
Ominis wonders how Livia managed to strip him of both his shirt and his secrets; how deft she is at skinning others while donning a thicker armor.
"We all manipulate," Livia replies, and there is no contempt in her words, just the cold steel of candor. "By nipping my actions in ill-intent, you hope to use guilt to get the truth from me. This is a way to manipulate, isn't it?" He hears the bed creak again, and he cannot help his heart cantering into his throat, knowing that she is getting closer. "The afternoon we spent at the lake was not a performance, Ominis. I wasn't feigning laughs; I could never enact a moment so peaceful with all the storms that have been raging in my head. I might have told you to stay out of it in the hopes of having you insist on partaking, but everything else I said was true."
She leans next to him, and in this permanent darkness of his, he can see her materialize again; pictures her fingers trapped in his, the curve of her neck laced in midnight blue velvet, the coy smile she graces him with when he spins her around, the fragility he would've never imagine her to display if he hadn't seen her with his own eyes.
Aside from her family and the Collector's legion of faceless dancers, Livia is the first person Ominis ever laid his eyes on.
And now she is the first smile he ever starved for. The first eyes he ever looked through for a figment of soul that her scent, her touch, her taste could never relent.
How could he hold bitterness into his chest when she gave him the opportunity to sample a part of her?
"Your face is fading away," he whispers, as if an octave higher could cut right through the moment. "I tried to keep it inside of me like a breath until the sight would burn itself inside of my brain, but it doesn't hold. It isn't losing my eyesight again that eats me from the inside, Livia. It's being robbed of the glimpses of bliss I was awarded in there."
She coils her fingers around his forearm, the smile in her words like a living, breathing thing. "Come, the day is warm. Let's go out."
He raises a brow. "We'll get caught for missing class."
"Some things are worth a little trouble," she replies. "Besides, these little crimes we avow ourselves make for the best memories, wouldn't you say?"
Returning her smile, Ominis lets her lead him through the castle's loneliest corridors until they cross through a door under a warmish sun.
The sound of the grass underfoot is foreign, so is the blend of smells eddying around them. Pine, stagnant water, decaying flowers, dry leaves, the nitrous scent of a storm rolling in the distance.
"Where are we?"
Livia guides his hand to a slope chiseled in stone. He follows the curve upwards, across a neck, then a hand holding a feminine chin, a nose, eyes, and eyebrows.
A statue.
"I don't know what this place is," she tells him. "It looks like a garden left in disarray behind a door which knob is just as spotless as the day it was hammered into the wood. Right now, it looks very much like a place in-between."
"In-between what?"
He imagines her shrugging at that, picturing her green eyes looking around to the dead flower beds, the ruined statues, the gnarled branches. "In-between seasons, most certainly. In-between owners, perhaps. In-between lovers or mischief-makers or peace-seekers."
His heart caroms in its sheath of muscles at the question he allows out of his lips: "Which one are we?"
She graces him with a shy giggle. He has never felt her so pensive, so reconciled. "Given we are missing class, I suppose we are first and foremost mischief-makers, but there is no reason why we should don only one cloak."
He angles his face to where her voice comes from. "Why did you bring me here, Livia?"
"The Collector couldn't feed on my bliss."
A gossamer line runs across his forehead. "Why not?"
There is sorrow lacing her words. "He told me I was too scant a meal in my current emotional state; that I owe him bliss when I will be able to experience it."
"Why did he feed on you, regardless?"
"I wanted to be with you and Sebastian when he did it. If there was a way, I could make it less... painful, I would've been there to do it. That is the first reason..."
An open sky breathes around them, but the second Livia steps in his vicinity, Ominis feels as if she has trapped him in a glass jar. His skin tingles as she draws closer, the air rolling in his throat thickening with the words he surrenders. "What is the second?"
She takes his hand and presses his fingers to her cheek. "So you could associate smells and textures to the fading image you have of me, and strengthen the memory."
Guiding his hand on her face, she helps him chart her traits. The sharp edge of her jaw, her peaked chin, her small nose, proud cheekbones, the silk of her eyelashes, the soft outline of her full lips...
And there it dawns on Ominis, the need to have something to himself. Something that isn't shared, imagined or stolen. "Do you want to come with me to All Hallows' Eve ball?"
He feels her cheek move up under his fingers. "Was I such a good dancer?"
"You were."
"How much do you remember of our dance?"
"Everything," he says without hesitation. "I meant everything I said to you, Livia. All the glimpses I stole of you—I intended those too."
He recognizes the signs of disquiet in the change in her breath pattern, yet she doesn't recoil from his touch. "I don't know if I can know bliss, Ominis. With anyone."
"Why don't you steal it?" He suggests, her skin blistering under the pad of his thumb. "These little crimes we avow ourselves make for the best memories, right?"
"You're not a bad partner in crime," she concedes, her bitterness gone in the blink of an eye. "Yes. I'll go to the ball with you, Ominis Gaunt."
"Good," he replies with a smile. "At least we'll have a secret place to retire to if the festivities get tiresome."
She gives a silvery chuckle. "Do they ever?"
"Let's hope this year they do."

The Art of Stone: Showcase of Luxurious Masonry in Modern Homes
Tumblr media
When it comes to crafting the perfect home, few materials evoke a sense of timeless elegance and luxury quite like stone. In modern home design, the use of masonry introduces a rich tapestry of texture, durability, and earthy tones that seamlessly blend with contemporary aesthetics. From the opulent clifftop mansions of Malibu to the sleek penthouses in the heart of New York City, stone masonry is a defining feature that showcases the natural beauty of the earth and the craftsmanship of human hands. In this detailed blog post, we'll explore the enduring allure of stone in home design and how it serves as the foundation for a truly luxurious living experience.
The Material of Myth and Monarchy
Throughout history, stone has been the material of choice for architects and builders who sought to leave a lasting legacy. Ancient civilization used stones of varying hardness to construct everything from protective fortresses to majestic monuments, each with its own story to tell. In the context of modern home design, the use of natural stone speaks of permanence and a connection to the land. It's a material that can weather the ages and grow more beautiful with time, much like the homes it adorns. While the most famous stone structures might echo with the breath of history, the beauty of modern masonry ensures that this ancient material remains relevant and revered.
Las Vegas, A Modern Stone Masonry Showcase
One of the most unexpected yet profound showcases of stone masonry in the modern era can be found in the glitz and glamour of Las Vegas. Here, amidst the neon-lit casinos and modern entertainment complexes, lie some of the most stunning examples of stone craftsmanship. In Las Vegas, stone isn't just a building material; it's a statement of extravagance and a nod to nature's grandeur. The city's luxury homes and resorts, bathed in the desert sun, exhibit the versatility of stone - from the cool, understated elegance of grey granite to the warm, inviting tones of limestone.
The Role of Masonry in Modern Architecture
Modern architects are reimagining the uses of stone in ways that go beyond its traditional role as a structural element. Las Vegas masonry in modern homes is often about making a bold design statement, blurring the lines between indoor and outdoor spaces, and creating a sense of drama. The integration of large, floor-to-ceiling stone walls, or the use of stone accents, can serve as a counterpoint to sleek, minimalistic interiors, providing an element of warmth and texture that softens the overall aesthetic.
For homeowners, the decision to include stone in their living spaces is about more than just making a design statement; it's an investment in quality and character. Unlike many modern materials, stone is not a passing trend, but a lasting foundation for homes that are designed to stand the test of time. Its presence in a space evokes a certain calm and solidity, a reminder of the earth's strength and resilience.
Stone masonry is a crucial component of modern luxury home design. It's a material that both compliments and contrasts with contemporary styles, providing a sense of heritage and a link to the natural world. Whether you're crafting your dream home or simply looking to add a touch of opulence to your living space, the art of stone Las Vegas masonry is one worth considering. Through its use, we can create homes that not only reflect our current desires but stand as a testament to the timeless connection between humans and the earth.
