[ID: A bowl of a bright yellow stew topped with cilantro, mustard seed, chili, and curry leaf. End ID]
ಉಡುಪಿ ಸಾಂಬಾರ್ / Udupi sambar
A sambar is a lentil-and-vegetable stew distinguished by the use of a particular spice blend (Hindi: सांबर मसाला "sāmbār masālā," "sambar spice"; Kannada: ಸಾಂಬಾರ್ ಪುಡಿ "sāmbār puḍi," "sambar powder"). Sambars are a staple of South Indian and Sri Lankan cooking, sometimes made in households for multiple meals a week. The word "sambar" can be traced back to the Sanskrit सम्भार "sambhārá," "collection of things required for a particular purpose”; “spices."
The lentil used in sambar dishes is usually tur dal (split pigeon peas), though arhar dal, tuvur dal, or even blends containing masur or mung dal may be used, depending on the cook or the region. Vegetables also vary between combinations of okra, potato, ash gourd (petha), bottle gourd (doodhi / lauki), drumstick (saijan ki phalli), beetroot, tomato, carrot, pumpkin, brinjal, and pearl onions, among others. The sambar masala fries chilis, curry leaves, dal, and various spices including cumin, coriander, and fenugreek, then grinds them into a spicy, earthy, fragrant blend.
This recipe makes a sambar in the style of ಉಡುಪಿ (Udupi) cuisine—a subdivision of the cuisine of the ತುಳುವ (Tuluva) people localised in the Udupi District of Karnataka, a southeastern coastal state of India. (Tuluva cuisine is also commonly found in Dakshina Kannada, Karnataka, and Kasaragod, Kerala). In the Udupi region, sambar may be known as "ಕೊಡೆಲ್" "kodhel"; perhaps related to "ಕಡಲೆ" "kadhale" "Bengal gram"; or "ಹುಲಿ" "huḷi"; "tartness." Udupi huli has coconut oil and jaggery as its primary distinguishing features: the jaggery's deep sweetness and the earthy pungency of unrefined coconut oil combine with the spice of the chilis and the sour fruitiness of the tamarind to create a complex, flavorful, well-balanced dish.
Udupi huli may be further divided into a few major types. ಮಸಾಲೆ ಹುಳಿ ("masāla huḷi") contains shredded coconut and vegetables; ಬೋಳು ಹುಳಿ ("bolu huḷi") contains vegetables, but omits the coconut.
Hotel-style masala huli recipes typically add a lot of jaggery to produce a distinct sweetness; cut back on the amount of coconut included; and contain onion and garlic. The other main type of masala huli—“temple style”—is sattvic (from Sanskrit "सतत्व" "sattva": "goodness," "essence," "existence"), which in this context means that onions and garlic are excluded.
A sattvic diet in Hinduism centres around the concept of maintaining sattva by eating only pure and mild (sattvic) foods, and omitting tamasic (“dark,” "inert," "destructive"; from Sanskrit तमस् "tamas") and rajasic ("exciting," "passionate," from Sanskrit रजस् "rajas") ones. The concepts of sattva, tamas, and rajas (the गुण "guṇa" system) are central to the construction of caste: the degree to which each person innately inherits each quality supposedly determines their possession of characteristics including honesty, intelligence, and goodness (sattva), stupidity and lack of creativity (tamas), and passion and pridefulness (rajas); the possession of these characteristics in turn determines their rightful place in a professional and social hierarchy. The association of certain foods with certain qualities thus links diet to caste: a distinction in diet is one of the methods by which those belonging to upper castes maintain and police caste boundaries.
This recipe makes enough pudi for one pot of sambar. Traditionally, sambar pudi is created fresh each time the dish is made, but many households make large batches and store them. In this case, omit the coconut; or, use dried coconut and store the masala in the refrigerator.

Ingredients:
Serves 4-6.
For the sambar:
2 cups chopped vegetables
1 red onion, sliced*
1 cup (200g) yellow split pigeon peas / tur dal / ತೂರ್ ದಾಲ್ (ಹಳದಿ ಸ್ಪ್ಲಿಟ್ ಪಾರಿವಾಳದ ಬಟಾಣಿ)
4 cups (1 litre) water, or as needed
1/4 tsp ground turmeric / haldi / ಅರಿಶಿನ
2 tsp table salt
2 tsp jaggery / gur / ಬೆಲ್ಲ*
1/4 cup (60mL) tamarind pulp (from 1 Tbsp dried tamarind / imlie / ಹುಣಸೆಹಣ್ಣು)
2 tsp unrefined coconut oil / nariyal ka tel / ತೆಂಗಿನ ಎಣ್ಣೆ
Ingredient list format is English / Hindi (Latin transcription) / Kannada. The Hindi is provided for convenience while shopping.
Udupi sambar usually uses any of: gourd, brinjal (Indian eggplant), pumpkin, dumstick (saijan ki phalli), and okra. Pearl onion is not usually used in this region, but you can add whatever you want, according to taste.
*For a hotel-style sambar, include the onion; increase the jaggery to 2 Tbsp.
For the spice paste / sambar masala / ಸಾಂಬಾರ್ ಪುಡಿ ("sambar pudi"):
1/2 Tbsp split Bengal gram / chana dal / ಹಳದಿ ಸ್ಪ್ಲಿಟ್ ಗ್ರಾಂ
2 tsp split black gram / urad dal chilka / ಸ್ಪ್ಲಿಟ್ ಬ್ಲ್ಯಾಕ್ ಗ್ರಾಂ
2 tsp coriander seeds / dhaniya / ಕೊತ್ತಂಬರಿ ಬೀಜದ
1/2 tsp fenugreek seeds / methi / ಮೆಂತ್ಯ
1 tsp cumin seeds / jeera / ಜೀರಿಗೆ
1 tsp ground turmeric
5-6 curry leaves / kari pati / ಕರಿಬೇವು
3-4 Byadagi or other dried red chilis / byadagi mirch / ಬ್ಯಾಡಗಿ ಮೆಣಸಿನಕಾಯಿ
4 cloves garlic, skins on*
Large pinch asafoetida / hing / ಇಂಗು
1 cup (100g) fresh coconut (about one coconut)*
1/2 cup (120mL) water
While the ratio of ingredients in Udupi sambar pudi vary slightly, the ingredients themselves are almost always consistent.
*For a hotel-style sambar, include the garlic, and decrease the coconut in the sambar masala to 1/4 or 1/2 cup (25-50g).
The grams and pulses in this pudi have many different names. You can find them in a halal or South Asian grocery store; look on the bag for the Hindi names (since they have been transcribed into Latin, the spelling may vary from what you see here).
The urad dal you find may be husked, and thus yellow instead of black; these will work just as well.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
For the tempering / tadka / ಹದಗೊಳಿಸುವ:
2 Tbsp unrefined coconut oil
2 red chilis
8 curry leaves
1 tsp brown mustard seeds / rai / ಸಾಸಿವೆ ಬೀಜಗಳು
Recipes from north Karnataka may add cumin and whole, unpeeled garlic cloves to the tempering.
Instructions:
For the sambar pudi:
1. Break open the coconut and remove and shread its flesh.
If using a whole dried coconut, break into the shell with the wrong side of a hammer and pry open. Break into a few smaller pieces and peel with a vegetable peeler until the skin is removed from the white flesh, wearing something to protect your hand. Soak in warm water for several minutes to soften, and then grate or food process.
Tumblr media
2. Heat 2 Tbsp of coconut oil in a skillet on medium-low. Add asafoetida and fry for 30 seconds, until no longer raw-smelling. Add dal and fry, stirring often, for 30 seconds until golden brown; add coriander, mustard, fenugreek, and cumin seeds and fry until fragrant.
3. Add curry leaves and fry until wilted, then add garlic and dried chilis and fry another 30 seconds to a minute, until fragrant.
4. Add coconut and fry, stirring often, for another few minutes until a shade darker. Add turmeric and stir.
5. Grind all ingredients into a paste in a mortar and pestle, then mix in about 1/2 cup water to loosen (if using dried coconut, you may need more water).
Or, put all ingredients along with 1/2 cup water into a blender or food processor and process until a relatively smooth paste forms.
Tumblr media
For the sambar:
1. Wash tur dal to remove excess starch. Simmer dal with 2 cups water, 1/4 tsp ground turmeric, and 1 tsp coconut oil for about 30 minutes until very tender. Mash until relatively smooth with a wooden spoon or bean masher, or process briefly with an immersion blender.
You may soak the dal in water after rinsing them to reduce the cooking time, but it is not necessary.
2. Meanwhile, make the tamarind paste. Soak 1 Tbsp tamarind dried pulp in 1/4 cup hot water for 20-30 minutes. Squeeze the tamarind into the water to extract the pulp. Discard the tamarind seeds and husk. Optionally, depending on your preferred texture, push the mixture through a metal sieve.
3. Prepare vegetables. Slice the onion; remove ends of okra and drumsticks and cut into 2-inch pieces; quarter tomatoes; quarter brinjal; peel pumpkin and cut into cubes; peel and cube potatoes.
4. If using onion, add a teaspoon of coconut oil to a large pot and fry until translucent.
5. In the same pot, boil vegetables in just enough water to cover, along with a pinch of salt, until they are beginning to soften.
Tumblr media
Some recipes call for the vegetables to be boiled, and others call for them to be steamed. I prefer boiling, since it produces a nice savory broth.
6. Mix vegetables, dal, tamarind, jaggery, sambar pudi, and salt to taste and simmer 5-10 minutes to allow flavors to combine and vegetables to cook under tender. Add water as needed. Remove from heat and stir in cilantro. Taste and adjust salt.
The final sambar should be pourable, like a thick soup—Karnataka sambar is typically thinner in consistency than Tamil Nadu versions.
For the tadka:
1. Heat coconut oil in a small skillet on medium heat. Add tempering ingredients and fry, stirring often, until chilis and curry leaves are a couple shades darker and the mixture is fragrant.
2. Pour the oil and tempering ingredients into the sambar and stir in. If you like, retain some of the tadka as a garnish to serve.
3. Serve warm, in individual bowls, alongside long-grain white rice. To eat drumsticks, scoop the center out and eat it; the tough outer rind is left.
If you intend to save some sambar, it's a good idea to make just enough tadka for what you plan to eat that day, and then make fresh tadka to pour over the reheated leftovers.

Heyyyy😏 can you write something for Gintoki where you get in an argument with him (cause he’s a jerk) and then he says something so back handed to you (cause he’s a jerk) and you just walk of and like cry or sumn cause it hurt so much and he just tries to apologize and it gets a little emotional idk I just need something that’ll hurt me a little bit 😔😣
A/N: Hi! I feel like Gintoki is more likely to apologize through his action than his words, and so his apology is mostly done than said :p Not sure if this is super angsty, but I hope it's good enough!
Plot: Gin being a piece of shit who never cleans and upsets poor innocent reader with his attitude.
Warning: Gets a bit suggestive with language and some minor angst ig?
Arguing with Gintoki (x Fem!Reader)
Tumblr media
(just look at him being disgusting and cute.)
There are many reasons for one to pick a fight with Gintoki. Be it Otose arguing with him over rent delays, or Kagura and Shinpachi demanding their pay, there’s always someone at odds with the Odd Jobs’ boss.
However, when it came down to you, perhaps you had an easier time letting things slip. You’d stayed around long enough to get acclimated to all those wacky situations Gintoki involved himself in, as well as his hectic and lazy persona.
At this point, you’d earned yourself the nickname “saint” from his peers, considering how you seemed to be the only one with enough patience to put up with him. But even a saint’s patience has its limits.
When you walked into Yorouzya on a day like any other, finding an absolute war-zone where his couch once stood, not even that Buddha’s patience of yours was enough to shield your faint heart.
No way in hell would you willingly pick up his dirty underwear off the fan, or clean after the millions of empty takeout boxes residing under the kotatsu (just how much food can a person consume overnight?!), while Gintoki remained idly picking on his nose like a primadonna. This had to end.
“Gin,” you asked in a near pleading tone that went unnoticed.
“Gin?” Your second attempt was too ignored, his attention monopolized by the weather girl inside the little black screen.
Frustrated beyond compare, you threw about the first object your hands could find onto his head, leaving him with no other choice but to face you. The noodle box ended up landing like a party hat, with a string of curry dropping down his forehead. He sported a somewhat disturbed look, though that wasn’t enough to prevent him from turning back to the tv the second the noodle box fell to the floor.
“Gin!” Unable to contain your temper, you jumped to block his view.
“Huh? Y/N?” Gintoki queried as if he wasn’t even aware of your presence in prior, something that only added fuel to the fire. “What are you doing here?”
“Not cleaning your mess, that’s for sure. What’s this?” You paused to point at the underwear and then his leftovers. “And this? Who’s going to clean all this?”
“Quit nagging, it’s not even 12.” He yawned, stretching his limbs across the couch. “Kagura will probably feed them to Sadaharu, or Tama will pass by later. Just leave them be.”
You couldn’t believe in your eyes, or rather your ears. How could someone this irresponsible be running a business, when this was the kind of reception he had in store for any poor soul that dared walk in? It wasn’t as if Yorozuya was ever the pantheon of work ethics to begin with, but this was too much even for him. Feeding the trash to the dog, just what was he thinking?
“Are you for real? Why would…? Who would… ?” One unfinished sentence followed the other while you struggled to find the right words. “Nevermind. It’s no wonder no one sets foot in here nowadays. Only an idiot would choose another hare-brained idiot to handle their job for them.” You spat bitterly.
“Then I guess that makes you into an even greater idiot, Y/N. Or else you wouldn’t be showing at my doorstep to bitch about something this trivial, especially when it’s none of your concern.” He followed in the same tone, bringing the already heavy atmosphere even further down.
“It’s none of my concern whether my boyfriend’s house reeks like a dumpster? Or whether it gets infested with cockroaches? Then whose is it?” You crossed your arms over your chest. “You know, since I too spend the night here from time to time, I would appreciate if the smell of soured ramen didn’t have to compete with that of your underwear.”
Gintoki sighed in response, lazily combing through his disheveled hair with one hand. You’d always been fond of that scruffy appearance of his, but right now, all it did was add more fuel to the fire, providing you with yet another reason to stay mad at his disposition.
“And do something about your appearance already! It looks as if a crow nested in there!”
“Oi, Y/N. Is it that day of the month? I don’t remember you being such an overbearing control freak.”
“I don’t remember you being such a bum.” You argued back.
“If I’m such a bum then why do you insist on coming here?”
“Maybe I shouldn’t.”
“Maybe you shouldn’t.”
The lack of sound succeeding your heated exchange was perhaps even more disturbing than the argument itself. You got so caught up in talking back to him, that before you knew it, such regrettable words came pouring out your mouth.
“What are you standing here for?” Gintoki asked, his otherwise dead fish eyes now beaming with resentment. “The door is right there. Leave.”
Was this really… it? Was he about to forsake everything the two of you had come to be over a silly argument?
With your questions unanswered and your steps heavier than before, you paced outside Yorozuya. This definitely wasn’t the kind of time you’d hoped to spend over at his place. Part of you expected to hear his voice a final time, to receive the affirmation that this was nothing but a silly lover’s quarrel, though silence came to be your sole companion. Silence, and whatever this gut wrenching emotion was.
Little by little, you felt the oxygen within your lungs igniting you whole, slowly burning at your fuse until you couldn’t go on anymore. Crouched near the ground, all you could do was bawl right outside Otose’s bar, meekly hoping that no one was around to notice your muffled cries.
Was it frustration or was it hurt? You couldn’t tell. The only thing you knew was that this was the first time you’d ever felt such uncertainty. Shoes of different color stopped before you, each pair belonging to yet another passerby who felt entitled to shoot his look of pity your way, but not entitled enough to pry any further, to approach any closer.
It was your fault. If only you’d kept your mouth shut, then nothing would have happened. Gintoki wouldn’t get annoyed, he wouldn’t raise his voice, he wouldn’t dare say such horrible things, and he…you…
No. It was his fault for being this messy and unjust. Even if you were a bit too harsh, you acted out of genuine concern. You had no intention to watch as he festered within the four rusty walls of his house. Gintoki had always been the kind to take care of everyone, but when it came down to his own self, he seldom bothered to lift a finger.
What others attributed as mere laziness, you knew better. It was almost as if by wallowing in such unspoken misery, he was atoning for something. As if he was repenting for past sins only he knew of. Either way, his disregard for his own well-being showed in every single aspect of his lifestyle. From the sorry state of his house, to his own unkempt appearance.
You remembered of the first time you met Gin. You recalled thinking how despite his exterior, he bore resemblance to a mirror. A blurred, borderline shattered glass, be it one that let you see an image of yourself clearer than any you’d seen before. The good with the bad, the beauty and the ugliness, the flaws and the imperfections. Everything that made you into who you were was right there, delving in those maroon eyes of his.
Perhaps Gintoki was never meant to shine on his own. Perhaps his strength lied in making others shine brightest, in reflecting not the image you longed to see, but the one closest to reality.
You liked yourself when you were with him. You felt certain and grounded at the same time. That should you ever lose your way, one look at him would be enough to guide you back. You liked that, but more importantly, you liked him. That silver gleam of his was what made you fall for him in the first place.
He was right. You were overbearing and overzealous and butted in his business without thinking twice, and that was precisely why you wouldn’t give up on him. No matter what it took, you’d never quit clearing his soul off the distortions haunting it. Not before making sure that the man known as Sakata Gintoki would never grow dim, that was.
And so, you wiped the tears with the back of your hand and rose to your feet. One by one, you climbed the steps to Yorozuya all the way to the top where you stood still. What would you say to him? Apologies were never your forte and neither his. Showing up to clean his apartment as if you were part of a clean-up crew didn’t seem like a great idea either, especially when one considered the nature of your argument. What if he pushed you away again? What if he demanded that you leave?
No. No, even if he did that, there was no way you’d run. It didn’t matter if he called you names, if he dragged you outside or any of these things, really. You’d made up your mind to clean after his own mess for however long he needed you to. Until he learned to do it for himself. Until he was forced to get a real look at who he really was. That self destruction bullshit of his had to end.
Before you had the chance to contemplate any longer, the door went wide open with Gintoki appearing on the other side, evidently taken aback by your sudden reappearance.
“I-” You said in unison, each stopping at the other’s interruption.
“You-“Another failed attempt.
Taking a deep breath, you decided to blurt out everything without giving him the chance to cut in a third time. Here goes nothing.
“I’m sorry for acting like an evil mother-in-law and yelling at you the way I did. You are right, I am an overbearing control freak, but I never meant to criticize you. I felt as if that was the only way to make you listen, and I honestly can’t stand to see you living life in a swap because, Gintoki, to me you are someone very important and I only want to see you thrive. Why are you so unkind towards your own self? No matter what happened in the past, you shouldn’t let it bring you down.”
You took a short pause. Perhaps giving him a lecture about past trauma would only get him to retreat further in his shell.
“My point is, I don’t intend to stop bitching at you. Whether you like it or not, I’ll keep interfering in your business, until you stop doing yourself injustice. So please, accept my earnest concern and, for the love of god, allow me to clean your house.”
Your outburst imposed a bemused expression on his face, one that was quickly replaced by a forced snort.
“What are you talking about?” Gin leaned against the frame with his index lazily poking past the shell of his ear. “I don’t recall you paying any visits whatsoever.”
“Wait- what?”
“You play weird pranks, Y/N. Did you wake up on the wrong side of the bed? Or is this a dream you are talking about?”
It was your turn to be dumbfounded. Was this a joke or was he simply going to act as if the whole incident never occurred in the first place?
“Why are you looking at me like that? Did I grow an extra set of balls on my forehead?” He asked, patting down his head.
You brushed his comment off, unsure of what to say next. The mood had completely shifted with Gin returning to his usual “charming” self, something over which you were truthfully thankful. Of course his throwing you out meant nothing. After all, this was nothing but a silly lover’s quarrel.
“No… but looks like your wish is granted.” You jested, removing a noodle that was dangling between silver strands of hair. “It’s finally straightening up.”
Gintoki frowned, looking away while you chuckled.
“If you have the time to be running your mouth, come in already.” He mumbled before scooting to the side.
Upon entering the hallway, the first thing to catch your attention was the scent. It smelled like primrose and magnolia, the sweet vanilla essence completely taking over the foul odor previously emitted by his living room. Did someone visit him while you were gone, or did he actually douse it with perfume?
As the two of you progressed to the living room, your surprise only increased, to the point of making you wonder whether you’d entered the wrong building. Rather than encounterig the same chaos you did earlier, you found a spotless table and an even more spotless couch. The noodle boxes, the plastic cutlery, even the half torn underwear; they had all disappeared.
If you didn’t know any better, you’d place your bet on a second Amanto invasion happening, but the moment you took notice in the half concealed mop lurking between the closet’s folds, there was no doubt anymore. He had cleaned. Gintoki had actually cleaned!
“Gin…” His name was cut in half by a sole sob.
“What are you crying for?” He asked, genuinely confused by your reaction.
“I can’t believe you did such a thing.” You went on, feeling truly grateful. “Everything is squeaky clean!”
Perhaps Gintoki sucked at apologies, but when it came to making things right, he never failed to impress. He always knew exactly what to do. A push was all he needed.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” Gintoki said as he approached you from behind. “It’s always clean around here.”
You were about to object to that, when you felt a pair of arms snaking around your waist, pulling you closer for him to press his body against yours. Instinctively, you looked up at him, the look in his eyes indicating he was up to no good.
“But if cleanliness is not what you want, I know of a way to make things dirty again.”
On second thought, a bit of disarray never hurt.

Me 149 Days Ago!Yumigeta Ako (23.09.29)
Good evening 🌝
I'm Yumigeta Ako🛑
Thank you very much for your comments yesterday!
You all understood my buffet story〜 That made me happy😂
You all related to me〜!!!I was thrilledー!
Not just buffets but also shabu shabu all you can eat places and steak shops I always start by eating too many 「Make your own waffles」 so by the time my main meat course comes out I'm too full to eat much… I have very poor planning skills。
But it's super fun to make your own waffles right?!?!
Strawberry waffles🧇🍓 and chocolate banana waffles🧇🍫🍌 and blueberry waffles🧇🫐 and my ultimate favourite normal waffles❤️🧇
Swirling your own soft serve ice cream is fun too〜!!!
I've noticed that I often swirl some ice cream on the side of my waffle plate、and then decorate it with cereal flakes and stuff…🤣
Apparently I add too many toppings to the extent I surprised my friends when we went to an all you can eat place recently、yaーy✌️
Maybe I should show you my method sometime!I want to members to try it too💕
Also tomorrow is finally 17ki's opening day…
Time really passes so fastー。
Tumblr media
A photo from their Shizuoka Performance! My first time posting it!
My best friend who I went to the LIVE with took this photo for me❗️
We had so much fun〜
I was scared the Oda-san T-shirt would be sold out so I was so nervous while standing in line for goods^_^
The LIVE itself made me emotional、Sakurai-san was like a goddess who appeared to me in a vision、Nonaka-san's impersonation of Tama-chan in the MC、Ishida-san's solo dance on Utakata Saturday Night、Okamura-san's beautiful figure、Makino-san's cool face in Are you Happy?、hearing Oda-san's 「ko〜ko〜ro〜jya〜i〜i〜tsu〜mo〜sa〜kende〜iruno〜ni〜」 in person、Kitagawa-san's beauty during Hana ga Saku Taiyou Abite、hearing Ikuta-san's dialect slip out while she was talking、seeing Haga-san's beautiful dancing that even included her hair、Yokoyama-san grinning and shining all through The☆Peace!、Yamazaki-san's voice being even prettier and cuter in person compared to hearing it in videos、Fukumura-san was like a true goddess、I genuinely have no other words to describe her、seeing Fukumura-san in real life was just so overwhelming… etc etc…
I remember eveーrything so clearly!
I watched all the member-sans intently through my binoculars so when the concert was over I remember just having this dreamy look on my face for ages😂
We also are delicious curry on our way home😋
There were some people in the street carrying Nonaka-san banners o I was thinking「If I pass the audition I want to do a concert in Shizuoka too someday」!
Now having passed、while not everything is fun I learn new things every single day and I have so many productive days!
During rehearsals I caused a lot of bother to the member-sans and I don't know if I'll be able to sleep tonight and even though I have even more worries too tomorrow will still come!I want to make sure I'm in peak physical condition so that tomorrow's show goes well!
I'll try and purely enjoy the performance without thinking about it too deeply🎶 I hope that you all enjoy watching us more than eveーr!
I won't forget my own emotions from that Shizuoka Performance、and I'll treasure each and every performance💕
I won't forget the fact that I was chosen from so many people to be here、I won't forget my initial excitement and also my new responsibilities!
I won't forget that this is a new start for me、and I'll do my best‼️
I'm so excited♡

Well then it's time for today's 【Gettaa Life】✨
Today I
Tumblr media
Lookieー!!!
I wore a hoodie for the first time this year❗️
Does this hoodie seem familiar、、、?
That's right、it's the hoodie from the Up To Boy shoot I did in a Morning Coffee-esque outfit!
They gave it to me after the shoot ended…🥹 I'm so happy because I love hoodies🥹
Today when I arrived at work Fukumura-san noticed、and said 「You're already wearing it〜」✨ ✨I'm wearing it straight away💕
At this time of year a lot of cafés and places still have their air con running so I get cold if I'm wearing short sleeves so I end up ordering a hot drink even when I really want a cold one… This type of thing happens quite often to me、so today I wore a hoodie and managed to have an iced drink!Yayー
When I had long hair I used to tuck it into my hoodie as extra protection against the cold!It really kept me warm〜❗️
It feels like actual autumn has begun!
Sweet potato desserts have also started being sold!
Everyone what's your favourite sweet potato dessert??
By the way mine is plain sweet potatoes🍠
Mama sometiーmes makes them for me during autumn〜 I wanna eat them again〜
I Getted 「Autumn Vibes」✨️
Maybe I should try making them myself…?
That's all!This has been 【Gettaa Life】!

✨Arabian nights🌟
Tumblr media
⚠️Warings: just fluff and friendship. No romantic
relationship between these two characters
Tamaki x male reader. It’s more of a gender neutral but I tried mg best to make it as masculine as possible. I’ve never written for a x male reader before so I hope this isn’t trash. Took me three days to write this and make it good. Well hopefully!
Aladdin AU
In a small town called Agrabah, two street rats lived together. A life of poverty, but they did what they could to survive. They have been friends since childhood but Tamaki was hiding something from his friend y/n.
“Hey Tamaki?” You looked up at your friend who was quietly admiring the painting you did of butterflies.
“Y-Y-Yes?”
“You’ve got that look on your face again. What’s on your mind?” You questioned getting closer to him.
“Well…” he looked at you. “I’ve always wanted to be a chef in the royal palace. But that’ll never happen”
You patted his shoulder. “I know your cooking is good, but I’m proud of you for telling me. I’ll be here to support you.”
A few months later
“Tamaki! Look at this!” You shouted holding a small paper.
He was half asleep on his makeshift of a bed.
“Mhm?”
“This is your chance to become a chef!”
This definitely woke him up. His purple hair was in his face. “Wait, what?”
You handed him the clipping you found while “running errands”.
Opening in the Royal place for a personal chef. Come tomorrow for a competition of who can make the best dish.
“Wow y/n, but do you really think I can do it?”
“Yea, but you can’t go looking how you are now. Let me pull a few strings with my friends to get you the items you need.”
“I have my own knives, I made them myself a while back.” He put his hands in front of his face.
You patted his head. “Can I see?” He blushed and got up and pulled a rag out that must’ve had the knives on it. He unwrapped it and revealed a set of knives. They weren’t fancy looking, but they would work.
“Woah, Tama, that’s really cool looking! But you should get some sleep. The big day is tomorrow.” You smiled as you blew out the candles in your shared home.
The next day
Tamaki was all set to go to the palace, he was wearing a blue chef’s outfit along with a small hat. His hair was tied back.
The competition was brutal. The heat from the flames could be felt by the judges sitting a few hundred feet away.
You, unfortunately, weren't allowed in.
“Contests only, street rat. Go on boy.” The guard said.
Tamaki was making his signature dish. Curry. Sure it was simple but far well his favorite to make. The dish wasn’t just any kind of curry, but butter chicken curry.
There were eleven other chefs competing, all with different dishes.
When time was up, the judges tried each of the twelve dishes. Some were too spicy, others tasted awful. Somebody did not remember their recipe. When it was Tamaki’s turn the judges were astonished! The chicken was cooked perfectly. The ingredients just came together. Unlike any other dish they have tried so far.
After a huddle of whispering the judges finally announced the winner.
“The sultan’s new chef will be…Tamaki Amajiki! Congratulations!”
After about an hour of conversation about the details of the new job. He couldn’t take this job without you being apart of it.
“C-C-Can my friend y/n live with me in the palace?”
“Are they your assistant?”
“In the kitchen, yes.”
“Then yes they will get their own room, but you’ll share the salary.”
He ran outside to find you. “Y/n! Y/n!”
You heard him and ran to him and hugged him.
“So how did it go?” You asked practically jumping up and down.
“I won! This wouldn’t be possible if it wasn’t for you y/n.”
You smiled and rubbed your neck. “I told you I’d always support you.”
“I have a surprise for you!” He said with the largest smile on his face.
“What?”
“You are coming with me as my assistant. Men in the royal kitchen.”

FOOD & DARJEELING
Tumblr media
Here are some more delicious dishes from Darjeeling:
Chana Bhutia: This is a popular dish among the Bhutia community, made with black chickpeas cooked in a flavorful gravy of spices, tomatoes, and onions. It's usually served with steamed rice or traditional flatbreads.
Churpi Soup: Churpi, the traditional Himalayan cheese, is also used to prepare a hearty and nutritious soup. The cheese is melted in a broth with vegetables, creating a warm and comforting dish, especially during the colder months.
Kinema: This is a traditional fermented soybean dish with a strong aroma. It is widely consumed in the region and is believed to have various health benefits. Kinema is often prepared during festivals and special occasions.
Wai-Wai Noodles: Wai-Wai noodles have become a favorite snack and quick meal option for the locals. Originally from Nepal, these instant noodles are commonly consumed with a variety of toppings and spices, making them a delicious street food.
Chhang: Chhang is a traditional alcoholic beverage made from fermented millet or rice. It is an essential part of various cultural and religious ceremonies in the region. It's a mild, milky-colored drink with a slightly sweet taste.
Sael Roti with Potato Curry: Sael Roti is often paired with a flavorful potato curry, creating a satisfying and wholesome meal. The softness of the Sael Roti complements the spiciness of the curry.
Alu Tama: This is a sour and spicy curry made with bamboo shoots and potatoes. It's a popular dish among the Nepali community and is often enjoyed with steamed rice.
Tama Curry: Tama, or fermented bamboo shoots, is a key ingredient in this curry. It is cooked with spices, potatoes, and occasionally meat to create a tangy and aromatic dish.
Chhurpi-Ningro Curry: This unique dish combines Chhurpi (Himalayan cheese) with Ningro (wild ferns). The cheese is used to add richness to the curry, and the ferns provide a unique earthy flavor.
Gya-Thuk: Similar to thukpa, Gya-Thuk is a noodle soup, but it includes shredded pieces of meat, often chicken or beef. It's a heartier version of thukpa and is perfect for those seeking a more substantial meal.
Darjeeling's culinary landscape is diverse and ever-evolving, with something to suit every palate. From savory momos to the comforting warmth of a cup of Darjeeling tea, the food here is an integral part of the region's culture and identity. send me questions you have about my character! @kleinstar sent: Bland or spicy food for him? Also what does his morning look like?
Considering his drink of choice is a "double shochu curry shot", I feel like he probably likes spicy foods? Honestly I cannot for the life of me decide just what exactly that would entail, but hey. it's something. he doesn't seem to shy away from more strongly flavoured foods, so he probably enjoys them.
As for his mornings, I don't think he's much of a morning person. It's usually Tama waking him up, but he's at least not too heavy of a sleeper (unless he's drunk, and that's a different story altogether). So Tama wakes him up on time to get ready for work, then he trudges around to get himself semi-presentable while she tells him about the news and whatever else is interesting at the moment.

How to make vegan curry
How to make vegan curry
Chef O Tama Carey was serving dishes in her Sydney restaurant recently when a customer asked her a simple question: “What’s in the cashew curry?” “And I said, ‘Cashews. It’s a cashew curry.’ And they were like, ‘But what else?’ And I said, ‘Cashews. Because it’s a cashew curry.’” Carey is talking to me on a Zoom call on a night off from that acclaimed restaurant, Lankan Filling Station, and is…
