#i have mixed feelings about this season #I’m very sad they didn’t include Gilmore rescuing the taldoreis #bc I feel like that was a turning point for his character in the campaign #he was no longer the sort of joke character he had been before #like vm loved Gilmore before but this moment turned him from the funny shopkeeper npc to a character with motives and morals #and we see just how generous and kind he is above all else for the first time #and then the moment where he’s almost dead and vax is desperately begging him to stay alive #that was also a moment for their relationship #it’s no longer just playfully flirting for fun / the amusement of the rest of the party #i do think there was still some of that sincerity and I loved it but… give me more #the only way to make it up to me is to make them fall in love forever #anyway that’s my spiel #vaxmore #vaxilmore #vax x gilmore #Vax’ildan #vax’ildan vessar #Gilmore #Shaun Gilmore #shaun geddmore #the legend of vox machina #tlovm #critical role #cr1 #critical role campaign 1

I wonder if, after Dalen's Closet when Vox Machina found out that Vax still exists out there, after a fashion, Pike ever Sent him any messages.

The spell crosses Planes, so I like to think that, maybe not often, but once in a while, Pike and Vax still talk. It doesn't always work (that 4% chance, and all) and sometimes he doesn't respond, but sometimes they'll have a little chat. Sometimes just the one Sending, sometimes more.

Sometimes Pike gives him updates on their friends and family, sometimes it's just to say hi, sometimes it's to make sure that the Raven Queen's still treating him right and she doesn't need to come kick a god's ass. Sometimes it's to make sure that someone crossed over ok.

I don't think she ever tells the others, even Scanlan, maybe especially not Vex or Keyleth. and I don't think it ever comes up between them that she might.

And he's dead, and mostly gone, they both know that.

But sometimes, it's good to be Pickle and Stringbean again. Just for a bit.

and this is all we get. two paragraphs in a book 300 pages long. no mention of avalir or cathmoira, no mention that these islands were once a continent, not even a mention that this harsh landscape was another consequence of the calamity. the name domunas has been forgotten, as has toramunda. the people who now occupy its place are right back to chasing endless wealth and seeking power from unsettling dreams.

but there are people, here. and maybe, at the very bottom of the ocean, there’s still a fragment of the ones who made that possible.
