Something a little bit different today, but the topic of Matt Mercer's success with homebrew comes up quite frequently with me and my duo, so I figured I'd go through all of his stuff and see what's better than what
This tierlist contains only the Blood Hunter base class (and CR subclasses), TCS:R subclasses, and the Gunslinger; anything else is too old to be fairly considered imo
If anyone wants clarification on any of my picks, let me know! And of course, it goes without saying, but this is NOT an attack on Matt or his integrity as a homebrewer; I love him, I wish him all the best, etc etc
Opinions expressed are obviously my own

So uh. Eventually I'll stop drawing these guys so obsessively but not today I guess.
(DND AU where it's just these two, Brent, and Paul on a life mission to annoy Chris the GM by having the pact of "we're only here for Karen's benefit")
Karen is a warlock, Right is a cleric, Paul is a paladin, and Brent is a bard (so he can use bardic inspiration on Karen).

A Breakdown of WotC’s OGL 1.1
Here’s some things to consider:
If you created any 5e stuff under OGL 1.0, you can’t keep creating it and the agreement that protected you from copyright lawsuits is “unauthorized”.
But LT, they can’t copyright mechanics!
Yes and no. They can’t copyright a d20. They can’t copyright a character having ability scores, or skills, or rounds of combat. But they can copyright the way it’s presented, and they can copyright the whole framework of all those individual mechanics. So no, scrubbing mentions of 5e out of your work isn’t going to protect you necessarily. Case in point:
This doesn’t just affect indie creators.
So yeah. Pathfinder in jeopardy, folks. And in case you thought the new OGL wasn’t explicitly trying to spite Paizo:
You cannot opt out of the new OGL.
If you create anything other than a print or digital ttrpg book, you cannot sell anything affiliated with DnD. Non-commercial use only.
So nice of them to give creators time to get their products updated:
Jan 13. That’s in 8 days, if you’re counting. I personally have a dozen products that would need to be submitted to the new OGL in that time frame, or changed so much that they don’t violate it. It’s over 1000 pages. To comply with the OGL, I would have to list every single thing that was covered by the original OGL and distinguish it from my original content.
I have a day job. Most creators in this industry have day jobs. This is an unreasonably short amount of time to get into compliance (which I don’t recommend anyway, for reasons we’ll discuss shortly).
Tiers of the Commercial License
So, that Expert Tier: Paizo is gonna fall in that. And if they want a custom deal that doesn’t force them to turn over 25% of their profits to WotC, WotC has to initiate it and set the terms.
Here’s the big kicker. Community surveillance. They’re relying on reporting of people who don’t register stuff. It’s meant to scare folks into compliance, most likely, and it will work. Most small creators couldn’t afford the legal fees if WotC decided to sue, and so have to decide if it’s worth the risk to keep selling without registering. The reason this is a big red flag is because they own, in perpetuity, your stuff. And they can change or revoke the agreement whenever they want.
They covered crowdfunding too:
TL;DR: The new OGL 1.1 is bad for creators and in line with WotC’s goal of wringing profits from DnD.

So some info about him:
Top tier stylist for dogs, kind, sweet, a ball of anxiety, 4.2ft (smol king)
Cats absolutely hates him even tho his dad is amazing with cats and they owned a cat when he was a child
Absolute embodiment of a low roll/ nat 1 on a dnd dice when it comes to social cues and socializing, occasionally rolls a nat 20 at things like flirting in his weird but charming way
Volunteers at the daycare when he has the time to one, better his social skills and does genuinely cares about the kids, two *(also to vist his crush which is you y/n)*
He also sometimes volunteers in rescue shelters for dogs and cats with getting them cleaned up
That's about the gist of it, there's more to him tho, thy will do some lore of him later.
RULESSSS
1. NO FUCKING PRO SHIPPING OR GORE OR KIDDY C#RN OR R#PE OR FUCKING WHATEVER NSFW ART, THY WILL ALLOW GOOD, VANILLA, WHOLESOME NSFW ARTWORK BETWEEN ADULTS THO
2. IF THY EVER SEES WHAT THY LISTED ABOVE IN ANY PART OF THE INTERNET THAT THY CAN SEE EASILY
THY IS PUNTING U INTO THE STRATOSPHERE AND BANISHING U TO THE SHADOW REALM
3. Please do report thoes people that create that sort of shit, it's already bad enough to constantly be facing thoes types of things in real life.
4. Have fun with it, thy doesn't mind fan art or you creating a story line with this wally as long it's not hurting anybody and it's properly tagged if ya doing some angst over there, go for it
5. Do make sure to credit thy for this design of wally, that's all thy asked
Side note: the original design of this wally was good, but it was soiled by its intent by the original creator so thy made some tweaks to it to make something good out of it

Depending on your aus, which ego design would say has the more monstrous form? The world needs to know.
Ha! What about I give you a whole tier list >:D
If you wanna see more you can go to
#cryptid n horror corner (I'll put the hashtag below this post)
CW// body horror
First tier, human with a twist:
heehoos/garuda celine/eye angel
2nd tier: still human with a twist, but BIG: Dark soul boss dark(they're about as tall as 3-stories building)
3rd tier, silly guys from the supervillain au:
Carnage actor/Dr.Ethan Connors(aka the lizard) he's one of the goozler's variants
4th tier, hardly humane but his thing is to lure people so his appearance can't be too monstrous:
The carnivorous plant actor
5th tier, the aquatic mf gongoozler
6th tier, body horror I:
The iron lung gongoozler(or the mutated gongoozler)
7th tier, body horror II, the most monstrous of them all:
I called it the arachniplier, the spider from iswm, some people called it the door creature. Tbh 6th and 7th can be on the same tier but due to my bias(I have arachnophobia)he has to be up here
So that's it, hope you get your answer XD
Bonus
The merrow gooz I made for my friend's dnd oc

I'm doing a silly little tier list for how this cast would die in DND and yeah.... making little icons for them (probably need to edit Paul's a smidge). And since Right, Brent, and Paul are all simply there to support Karen they all have the little flourishes of stars because she wanted them and the boys are just "it's thematic and supportive" and she is DELIGHTED.
Hot bartender would be roped into the ordeal by Paul because he simply cannot say no to his funky lil blonde crush (it's a problem).

List 5 things that make you happy, then put this in the askbox for the last 10 people who liked or reblogged something from you! Get to know your mutuals and followers ✨♡
(baps you baps you)
More:tm:
@blankerthought, you, for being the first person I ever followed in this fandom and then not thinking I was insane when I sent you asks calling you gamer and asking about your AUs. I love you, I can't wait to watch more dnd campaigns together,
@weird0strawberry, for being my little guy who can do no wrong objectively and deserving of only the finest hot cocoa, I'll kill anyone who is mean to you. I still have the little picture you drew of us and we're always going to be hand in unloveable hand<33
@blue-is-a-sapphic-color, for having an analysis I randomly stumbled upon while exploring dreblr for the first time. I thought you were the coolest person in the world, and then I was proven 100 percent correct. We are loafing together like two kibbies in a laundry basket, I love you<333
@tiredfoxtf, for not blocking me when I showed up that one time and insisted your art was actually S Tier and pulled up dreblr screenshots showing everyone praising your art. I haven't actually become less abnormal since then and I'm assuming you've found my feral cat behavior somewhat charming. I'm loafing on you and purring.
@3rd-shrike, for magically appearing at some point and being very patient with me as I desperately tried to do social correctly and possibly failed miserably. Please continue mass reblogging and talking about your OCs I am listening.

I have to ask because they're so interesting and fun—do/did you take inspirations from anywhere in particular for your dnd characters? Andrah, Hazel, Ulysses, they're just so easy to invest in!
:o!! thank you lovely anon!! brilliant to hear you like them so much!!
i dont really take inspo from anywhere, basically when i make a ttrpg character i just like to come up with backstories and personalities i think everyone at the table will find interesting+fun to sus out over time but ideally wont hog the limelight Too Much. im absolutely an attention whore but id hate for people to loathe playing with me for it.
i also have a list of boxes i like to tick off when i make characters (very general and very obvious list of things):
-living family and/or friends with interesting hooks that the DM can use whenever. not allowed to just go 'uhhh has a wife and kids' and leave it at that, you need to provide space for narrative tension
-solid reason for why theyre in the adventuring party. vagrants with no connections usually arent fun, give them a life and a grand upheaval that made them leave it
-some kind of deep character issue to overcome/address over the course of the campaign (ie. an addiction, mental health problems, shit-tier levels of respect for other people etc etc). make sure everyone at the table is cool with whatever you pick before going ahead with it
-element of silliness. ttrpg are at their most fun when everyones having a laff imo.
(sorry this may have gone a little off track from ur original question :p)
