wait okay to bring it full circle. Kyon and Haruhi are the choleric version of Taichi and Futaba. They’re two pairs of similar people. Kyon and Taichi recognize in Haruhi and Futaba the courage and energy they themselves abandoned in order to fit in with the crowd and not get disappointed. Haruhi and Futaba recognize in Kyon and Taichi the melancholy and doubt they struggle with. Through their relationships each half of the pair works on their own issues, bouncing off and talking and shaping each other. The relationship is a verb, a thing in motion. At the same time it’s also a process. There’s a start and an end. The changes that they force in each other mean that their gears no longer fit together in the same way at the end.

It is amazing how many different pop culture references Goblin Slayer has.
From Lord of the Rings, to Warhammer Fantasy and 40k, to Haruhi Suzimiya, to Berserk, to Dungeons & Dragons, and it all works seamlessly.

Something that occurred to me about Suzimiya Hii is that she might think she's clumsy because she's working under the impression that everyone is also dealing with their surroundings constantly trying to kill them but is just better at dealing with it.

Wings of Honey Mayonnaise is one of those movies that has rich rich woldbuilding but just sort of plods along until the final 10 minutes when the ending will borderline move you to tears with how sincere it pleads its case about world peace and personal and human-wide ambition and progress. The Rocket Launch is also the single best animated scene in history visually.
did you mean to call it that or did it autocorrect
either way I can stand slow burn movies the disappearance of haurhi suzimiya is one of my favorite films ever and it’s basically the same way

Tagged by @cauldronofmorning, 8 shows to get to know me :)
The US Office:
My comfort show, my go-to when I just want to watch something familiar. Peak cringe humour and just so many wonderful characters. I could watch it forever tbh
K-on!:
Autism coded cute musician girl joins a band and makes amazing friends and also they are all just so gay for each other??? Yeah this is everything honestly.
The Hunger Games:
Do movies count? I'm putting movies here anyway, this entire series is incredibly important to me. Katniss may be one of the best written protagonists of the Dystopian genre, even if I feel like the movies didn't go her complete justice, she turned out great.
The Cat Returns:
Another movie. Yeah I watch way more movies than I do TV shows fight me 🥊🥊🥊. I love Ghibli in general and this is my favourite Ghibli movie. A beautiful coming of age story and SO MANY CATS.
It's Always Sunny:
Dark humour and terrible terrible people with too much money/too many resources available to them is such a funny combination. There are some episodes I'd avoid, and they handle some topics quite poorly in the earlier episodes, but it's really cool that they learnt from that and even went on to remove/modify some of them. Just such a great watch.
The Melancholy Of Haruhi Suzimiya:
I literally refer to my religion as Haruhiism, this is the anime that introduced me to Aya Hirano, a person who would go on to be one of the most important parts of my life for a long time. (Note: I am literally named Aya lmao)
Game of Thrones:
Kinda a hit or miss one and lots of people will slate the later seasons, but if you can look past the glaring flaws it's such a rich and well-built world with so many incredible interlinking plotlines. Also dragons are pretty cool man.
Steins:Gate:
Stupid scientist man accidentally invents time travel. literally based on a true story. My #1 anime of all time just give it a chance.
I don't even have 5 friends on Tumblr so I can't really tag people but I hope you enjoyed this essay on the shit TV I enjoy <3
