Genshin Impact, Honkai: Star Rail, DnD, Six of Crows and the rest of the Grishaverse to a lesser extent (rip s3), Ōkami (the video game. high-key my favorite game of all time) and the Soulsborne games. I also play most soulslikes and most action games with japanese aesthetics for nonhuman reasons :3

Genshin mains are Thoma, Childe, Wrio, Heizou, Scara, Lynette, and Lyney when I get him. Honourable mentions go to Ayato, Tighnari and Miko. On my main account, that is, my alt has a separate collection!

HSR mains are Luka (hypercarry!), Arlan, Aventurine, and Jing Yuan, though I'll definitely be collecting more pretty boys down the line. And one day I'll finally have Gepard! Whether he likes it or not!

reposting the text i attached to this on my twitter, but! i wanted to draw a special pride piece of these two and me, and talk about how they changed my life, tw below for transphobia, and religious trauma.

(this is all copied directly from the twitter thread i made so, sorry for the weird spacing!)

i found out i was trans when i was 14, unfortunately my own home wasnt accepting by any means, and with that my family had found out i was trans multiple time, the second time completely breaking me to the point where i did everything in my power to not be trans.

which clearly didnt do anything for my mental, shortly after my family had found out the second time, i had gotten into fn again and jonesy absolutely changed my life, he helped me escape the shitty reality i was dealt.

jonesy is a character i will forever cherish, he brought me insane comfort in one of the most painful times in my life, drawing him, playing fn, and seeing others artwork of him, jonesy led me to meet amazing people who i am thankful to know today, one of those people-

being my own roomate who helped me escape my old household. (thanks a ton matt! youre incredible if you read this! :) ) funny enough, during this time, i had started fixating on angels a bunch cause i was drawing guernsey with wings. (insp by turphs art!)

in me doing my tomfoolery, i remember coming across an image of gabriel, and i stared at it for HOURS, and it just jump-started me fixating heavily on angels, looking through tags on tumblr to reblog stuff that fit that "aesthetic"

unfortunately, not a lot of neat stuff comes up when you look up angel on tumblr. its mostly women in lingerie with wings, yeah not what im looking for! and as i kept looking for neat stuff of angels, i couldnt get the image of gabriel out of my mind. (heres me talking about him.)

he continued to sit in my mind for a while, as my interest in him grew, i would tell friends that i really badly wanted to watch tm/c but was scared due to eye horror, and in me expressing my interest in him.

my roommate had found out and was excited to know i had interest in it, and asked about us both watching it together (yet again thanks so much! :) ) and we ended up watching it together and OH MY GOSH i was absolutely amazed, he very quickly took over my heart.

shortly after that my family had found out that i was struggling with my gender identity they absolutely freaked out. it was my breaking point, i was fucking scared but i wasnt going to suffer any longer, if i was going to be in hell then i was going to be in hell comfortably.

during the months of having to deal with transphobia from my family daily, gabriel greatly helped me, i would draw me and him, to help myself feel better, he quite literally is an angel. any moment i was away, i was finding comfort through him.

after getting out of my old home and finally being comfortable being me, i realized that in a strange way, gabriel kind of helped heal so much of my religious trauma in such a short time, obviously not fully healed, but to a point where i am no longer in fear.

now its time for me to wrap this all up, thank you to all of my wonderful friends who stayed with me through it all, (specifically shouting out chicken, matt, and jim/vivus!) and thank you to jonesy and gabriel, who changed and quite literally saved my life. thank you!

There are a number of "features" Fire Emblem and various other works in the anime/manga style used to denote unattractiveness/ugliness, Validar has almost all of them even without the grey skin and no good guy in Fire Emblem: Awakening has even half as many "ugly" features as Validar.

Even outside of anime, Validar looks like Disney's Jafar, whom is directly stated to be ugly. Even Japanese sites notice the resemblance and "Jafar" is a nickname for Validar or Fauder in that part of the fandom.

Fire Emblem is very much into "ugly people are evil" and "beautiful face equals beautiful heart even if its well hidden at first", with Awakening being even more on the nose about it than other Fire Emblem games.

Even the official 4Komas for Awakening crack jokes about Validar's ugliness, so I disagree that Validar was designed as attractive.

Besides if Validar was attractive we know he would've been recruitable in spotpass content.

Ok, I think there was a slight misreading of my previous answer, so let me split this one up into more obviously delineated sections.

Re: the game's character design trends:

Yeah, Fire Emblem does have a problem with designing their villain characters to have "ugly" features. It's a major ongoing flaw of the series. And it's particularly egregious with Validar purely due to the contrast between his design and Robin's. I wish these games would cut that shit out, I truly do.

If they didn't look so different it would be so much better. Make Robin look a little more like their dad! Give them a darker skin tone and adopt some of Validar's features, like the thinner face and higher cheekbones. Make them look related, and don't make the good guy white and the bad guy brown gray, and it wouldn't fix Awakening's shitty character design trends but it would help a fucking lot with Validar specifically.

We agree on this point, anon. It's also something that has already been condemned at length in the circles I run in. Like. This Has Been Talked About.

Re: the spotpass recruits:

Walhart is recruitable. Like, I understand the point you're trying to make, but Walhart is at first glance an even more stark example of the Villains Are Ugly phenomenon, and you can recruit Walhart in the spotpass content. You can marry him with Robin, even.

I think the reason Validar isn't recruitable is more about the fact that he's not only been vaporized on screen by endgame, he's also the second-to-final villain in the game, the guy who jammed a lightning sword in Chrom's kidneys, and Robin's abusive dad. I don't think the Shepherds would WANT to recruit him even if he was available for recruit.

Opinion rooted in personal taste:

Even with all their attempts to make Validar physically ugly, in spite of how shitty the design intent there is, there's a shockingly small amount of changes you would have to make to his design to make him a good looking character imo. Especially when compared to other Awakening villains like Walhart or Excellus.

Seriously. The dude's built like a high fantasy elf, that's not an inherently unattractive body type. Give him a skin tone that makes him look like an alive human, give him back his eyebrows, tell him to stop squinting 24/7 and turn off the eerie underlighting, make that one wrinkle on his forehead a bit less ridiculous, and you've got a pretty aesthetically pleasing older guy right there. Bonus points if you give him a more flattering hairstyle than whatever the hell his hair is doing by default.

Here, look, I even went to the trouble of editing one of his warriors sprites to show you what I mean, in both original eyeshadow and slightly more chill eyeliner flavours.

Like yeah he's not a Standard Pretty Anime Boy(tm) but he's like 2 inches away from being good looking, imo. You can't tell me that if he looked like this he wouldn't be a niche tumblr sexyman.

giants = the team name! they are one of two New York City-associated nfl teams. here's the shitty little moodboard i made a while back for colors/aesthetic :) lmao

quarterback = player on offense who throws the football! they're usually the biggest stars on the teams, and they're the players generally responsible for scoring. (if you've been on my blog on tumblr desktop(tm), the man in my sidebar gif is the quarterback for the giants right now!)

in the au, pierre is a runningback, which is a player who runs with the football! usually the quarterback will hand the ball off to the runningback, who tries to dodge the defenders and get as far down the field as he can before he gets tackled to the ground.

charles is a kicker, which is a player who kicks the football! when a team scores, they can get an extra point by kicking the football through the uprights.

when i get closer to actually finishing this fic i'll like. find a football primer of some kind and/or have a lil dictionary for people to reference <3

Ok so as Anakin and Padmé's kid (in a modern!AU, I'm assuming she would be, though of course Bail and Breha are still a very active part of her life), Leia knows both sides of the "planned obsolescence of technology" vs. "we live in a capitalist society means taking part in capitalism" debate very well. Her middle ground is a Galaxy, newest model. Don't get on her ass about it for whatever reason unless you want a list of five different tech regulatory bills you can call your senators about.

She's got a screen protector over it, but it's got a few tiny crack marks from it hitting the floor when Chewie flipped the table during game night/it flying out of her hands when she was having an argument involving Intense Hand Waving/she hands it to Luke sometimes and that means getting it back with Mystery Scratches he swears he doesn't know where they came from

The case is some kind of fancy artsy red leather design she found on Etsy. She figured the leather padding on the outside meant it was impact-safe enough, though the aforementioned crack marks prove her not quite right.

Her lockscreen is a casual photo they asked a nice waiter to take of her Luke Han Lando and Chewie out for dinner somewhere.

Homescreen is of this really good aesthetic sunset photo she took that she's honestly really proud of because despite her general good aim, she's not a very good photographer, though she's not telling anyone it was taken from the roof of an abandoned 7/11 and the gas station sign is just barely cropped out of the pic

Her apps aren't organized by anything, but she doesn't have all too many apps to begin with. She does also have five email apps like her mother before her though.

Since this is a Galaxy phone, Leia's got the fake-handwriting font. She accidentally got it stuck that way but then got used to it before she could figure out how to turn it off, so now she has to keep her phone like that and she hates it because that's Unprofessional(TM).

Laptop:

I'm unfortunately an apple bitch so I can't say what type of laptop she has specifically, just that it's one of the newer nicer PC models, maybe some kind of Windows? Like the ones with the touch screens or something

Her screen isn't cracked, but the corner lip of the keyboard is permanently bent ever so slightly because long story short Han whacked someone in the head with it once. It also drives her kind of nuts, but the laptop still works just fine and she has no clue how the fuck someone would fix it, so she just tolerates her laptop case not fitting quite right and is only passive aggressive to Han about it every fifth time she opens it up :)

Laptop shell case itself is plain clear and professional, she doesn't need anything fancy.

Her laptop background is probably one of her favorite art pieces. Not entirely sure what that would be, but I'm thinking of this one specific piece where there are two dancers dancing together with a golden background and the woman is in a pretty red dress.

Car:

Okay so Leia was REALLY proud to save up entirely her own money as a late teen/young adult for her first car, because that meant she wouldn't have to share the Demonic Prius with Luke anymore. She wouldn't let anyone help her out monetarily and ended up driving a shitty, shitty old Jeep she found from some random guy with Anakin's help for years lol.

Like, even when she did have money from real grownup jobs, she was still fond of the Jeep and had been through a lot in it, so she kept it as long as she could, kept it clean on the outside and inside best she could even though one window didn't go down, the AC worked half the time, and it had a permanent stench of gasoline

Of course another reason she doesn't end up really considering getting a nicer car is because only a few years after she gets the Jeep she and Luke meet Han, proud owner of the Flame Paint Job Seven Different Weed Compartments Bee's Nest In The Ceiling Catflap Cut Out Of The Back Door So You Can Throw Things At Cops Winnebago From Hell, and there is literally no way to look remotely normal when you're next to That, so she just. gives in, doesn't even try, and unless she's driving herself to work, she lets Han ferry her around in the Falcon anywhere else she needs to be.

Backpack:

Eh, probs the least interesting one.

Leia's got a reliable black canvas and leather backpack that fits her laptop, umbrella, water/iced coffee, and whatever book she's bringing with her

She's not really a bag person, likes to add pockets to all of her clothes, so she travels light in terms of carrying things.

She steals bags from Padmé if she wants to go fancier though

What are the trends when it comes to writing that you adore?

what even are The Trends(tm) these days........ honestly I think the relative lack of trends is what I like the most, and the fact that it doesn't feel like there's an accepted checklist of fancy graphics or specific writing styles anymore? I've been rping on tumblr for like ten years at this point, and when I started people didn't really give a shit about using a set format for icons or promos, trimming threads wasn't a thing, no one even used small text. and I don't miss all of that (untrimmed threads my beloathed) but for a while after that it felt like you definitely got less attention if you weren't curating a certain aesthetic. and there's obviously nothing wrong with going for a cohesive look with your graphics or spending a lot of time on icons, because I love seeing what people come up with! but as someone who's never entirely enjoyed working on that kind of stuff myself, I appreciate that the rpc seems to have shifted back towards not caring about all of that as much. I'm doing a bunch of iconless threads right now and tbh it's nice and feels lower pressure than having to pick an icon and then spending twenty minutes lamenting the fact that my icons are old and shitty and I just don't have time to make new ones. but at the same time I write with some people with awesome icons and headers, and who take the time to add colored text and everything -- and that's great too! and I love that we can all write together and no one seems to have a stick up their ass about that kind of thing anymore.

the aforementioned warrior cat oc is to date the only oc I have ever written / developed lol. I joke around that Miles has basically become an oc at this point, which I don't think is necessarily untrue. it's not like he was a super well developed character to begin with, and I've thrown him into enough aus that I feel like he should qualify as like. 60% oc at the very least.

I don't really have a good reason for not having any ocs either, other than the fact that specific characters are usually what draw me into a fandom in the first place. I tend to be less interested in the larger universes and more interested in individual characters, so I'm more compelled to keep developing the canon characters that I see something intriguing about, if that makes any sense? I guess I've never really looked at a fandom and been like "wow I love that world / story so much I want to make a character that belongs there." it tends to be more of a "wow I love and understand that character so much, they're mine now." because I also can't think of a fandom I've participated in where latching on to a specific character wasn't my driving force behind getting into the fandom in the first place.

i genuinely don't know if i get this across as well as i'd like to, but i think sam is unique in that he's very much The Asshole Character(tm) but he's still human, you know? he's deeply wounded and very sad underneath it all. he's got LAYERS he contains multitudes!!!!! you know, like, just because someone is mean and shitty doesn't mean that they aren't hurting and don't deserve help and love.

i also don't see his kind of aesthetic around a lot so maybe also that?

sam and i both have problems with anger, but in like inverse ways. he's very vocal about his anger, not afraid to show it, and i have issues even feeling anger at like a base level. writing sam can be kind of cathartic for me sometimes lmao.

he also has my music taste from when i was 15 and believed that a song wasn't a song unless it had a guitar solo in it.

also the drugs. i haven't used in years and i feel weird about calling myself an addict for reasons i won't get into here but the definition applies. whew.
