There was a kid's series when I was younger that did a lot of stuff involving folklore and such. I know they did the Lambton Worm story, and also a story where a huntsman or woodsman falls into the lair of a dragon but bets his freedom by squeezing water from a stone, in actuality a sponge.

And the main thing I remember about it... there was always a little yellow rubber duck present in the frame of the story somewhere.
