Danny was contemplating heading to the Gala without his mask on but he knows he saw other versions of him there last time and if people put it together, they'd likely know who he was, so he keeps the mask on.

He's used to being aware of his surroundings, keeping an eye on people, even in the mask, but with the music and all the new faces he doesn't realize that Jynx is coming up behind him.

"Boo!"
