Thank you for voting in my latest poll! I'm surprised and glad to see that Next Big Adventure won by a landslide! Seeing as we have the New Moon in Sagittarius on the 12th, it makes sense that we are collectively interested in seeing what the next chapter has in store. Please note that some of these other topics mentioned in my polls may appear in future pick a card readings, so stay tuned.

So without further ado, let's get into our piles! Pretend as though you are a Knight from your favorite tarot deck about to embark on your next journey. Please choose your mode of transportation:

Fully embodying the principles of inertia, once it moves it keeps moving, but it takes a lot of initial effort to get things going. Your next chapter will be steady, but it will be easier than before because it's already in motion.

I find this pile intriguing, y'all. You have Gambler above the Billiard card, and the Devil card shows a casino as well. It's almost bringing to mind old train heist movies. This pile is definitely more inclined to go with the flow in the next chapter. I almost typed 'glow' on accident, so perhaps you'll also experience basking in a 'glow' of some kind. You could be overcoming a huge obstacle at this time and look forward to more unstructured down time. You're encouraged to take time to enjoy yourself before moving to the next phase, but to also balance it out by taking moments to see where you'd rather go next. Spooky season is hereee! For the occasion I wanted to create a special set; alchemy. It contains 18 new meshes, it’s mostly inspired by nature, the occult and the apothecary aesthetic. I surprisingly had a lot of fun creating this, stepping out of my comfort zone by a mile! Alright, let's fucking GOOOO~

Starting off with my current "workhorse" pens - I have like *checks notes* 36 fountain pens and a bit too many inked up atm, but these are just the ones I'm currently reaching for or have inked up more often than not:

TWSBI Go (F): Kinda ugly! But also kinda cute! It's cheap and works great (I friggin love TWSBI pens tbh) and it has a little hole on the cap where you can attach a lanyard or charms, like I did! Makes it cuter imo and it's kind of my emotional support pen these days.

Opus88 Pocket (EF): This 2022 edition has a little Moon tarot design on the cap so it's pretty much the pen I use exclusively for my witchy/tarot practice journals! A lil bummed the cap doesn't post, especially since its a shorter pocket-sized pen, but not a deal breaker and I still love it.

Pilot Custom 823 (F): My grail pen that I've literally coveted for years and just recently acquired at the DC Pen Show this weekend! It's only been a day but I think it could potentially become my favorite pen. Ever.

Pilot Prera (CM): This is my third Prera lol. I just think they're great and really underrated pens! Also a recent acquisition from the DC Pen Show and this cursive M nib is suuuuper fun to write with.

Pilot Vanishing Point (EF): My favorite pen for planning! Super fine-tipped for writing task lists and schedules and love that it's so convenient/quick-draw with the click mechanism.

Journals/Planners/Notebooks under cut–

Sterling Ink B6 Common Planner: For a good chunk of this year, I was in this planner because I honestly love the size and all the layouts. Super practical and flexible as a system. 10/10 would go back. I've used it to plan, as a reading journal, as a tarot log...

But I get the itch to move around so it's been sitting a little unused since like June, oop.

Leuchtturm A6: I started craving something tiny and minimal so I've been bullet journaling in this pocket notebook for the last month or two and I'm really enjoying it!

Standard-sized Tomoe River Paper notebook: This is pretty consistent in that I don't change up the system itself, but I'm in and out of it for memory keeping/scrapbook journaling! It's almost always a Tomoe River paper notebook of SOME kind that I usually buy in A5 size to go to FedEx and get it cut down to standard. Though I'm thinking of getting a blank Midori MD A5 to have cut down next time - I've been liking the freedom of blank pages for journaling instead of anything lined or gridded.

I really need to catch up with it tbh, but I love sitting in an explosion of printed photos, stickers, and washi and going ham with the pages.

Midori MD Cotton B6 Slim: I also have this sketchbook that sorta turned into a visual sketch diary of sorts. I fell off a while ago but want to get back into it because it's super fun to work in and to look back on!

Wide-sized Cosmo Air Light notebook & A5 Filofax Malden: These are my tarot/witchy journals. Grimoires I guess? One is for journaling and all my messier notes while the other is more for reference and ease of organization.

A5 Leuchtturm: I didn't know if I should include this guy, but I've been writing it in a lot recently so I guess I will lol. This is like truuuly a miscellaneous™ notebook.

I got this A5 notebook back in 2017 to use as my very first bullet journal, then found out that this size is personally waaaay too big for me to use as a bullet journal so I hopped off of it pretty quick. It now sits on my desk because since it's mostly blank I'll just pick it up to use it to write literally A N Y T H I N G.

Most recently, I wrote like 5 pages in one night on notes for a fanfiction piece I was working on (I'm not a writer, this fic is never gonna see the light of day by anyone but me lololol. Hyperfixation is so wild; I've put 80k+ words within just 10 days into it so far and it's been hella therapeutic.)

It's funny because I actually have a NEW notebook arriving tomorrow that I'm going to try out as a bujo/commonplace/omni journal of sorts?? I might write an update post after I've set that up and see how I like it <3

The Star - How would this yandere deal with their darling’s loved ones?

I think Tatsumi is probably one of the least problematic yanderes when it comes to your loved ones and their safety. He´s a very mature and truly kind person and I believe that would also extend to your family and friends.

He´s so nice and accommodating to everyone he meets, how could they not simply adore him? He´s very good at making a good first impression which will serve as a great benefit to him when he seeks out a romantic relationship with you.

Your parents approve of him and your friends think he´s a really sweet guy. So why wouldn´t you want to date him when everyone you´re close with starts pushing you in that direction?

Wouldn´t he just make the perfect boyfriend? Everyone else thinks so too!

He´ll also let you continue meeting with your loved ones because he knows it makes you happy and your happiness is absolutely vital to Tatsumi. He doesn´t want to see you sad for even a second.

But of course, he will ask to tag along wherever you go because deep down there is a hidden path of him that gets jealous when you spend too much time with someone else.

He tries to suppress that part of himself most of the time but it sometimes can rear its ugly head when you tell him that you´d prefer to spend some alone time with your friends today.

Really, there´s no need for you to push him away. He surely won´t be a burden when everyone you know is so eager to have him join, right?

Strength - How outwardly passionate is this yandere around their darling?

I think Tatsumi is a bit more subtle with his obsession for you than other yanderes. He´s generally pretty mature and I believe more than being super clingy and professing his love to you loudly in a grand show of affection, Tatsumi´s love for you is quieter, a bit softer.

He certainly almost sounds reverent with the way he talks about you, the way the words spill out of his mouth like gospel, it´s as if he treats you as a being worthy of worship, just as much as the god he believes in.

Showers you with compliments and sweet words to the point it´s almost a bit too much at times, the constant barrage of praise too overwhelming after some time.

I also don´t believe Tatsumi to be too physically affectionate and would rather be romantic with you behind closed doors. Doesn´t care too much for public displays of affection that go beyond him holding your hand in his own, though he might sneak in a quick hug or even a kiss on the cheek when he feels particularly jealous and wants to show someone else that you´re already taken

The Tower - If this yandere saw their darling in danger, how would they respond/react?

Tatsumi would of course be very shocked at first and unsure of what exactly to do. He´s a worrywart already and when his worst suspicions come true? He´s really panicking beneath his calm exterior

Is not going to get violent but depending on the situation might try to negotiate or talk sense into a potential attacker. He´s good with words and we´ve seen from his past at Reimei that he knows how to rally other people behind him to strive for a good cause.

So even if your attacker doesn´t give in, Tatsumi would be quick to find someone else to help you out.

If you´re not being attacked and simply put yourself into a dangerous situation? Tatsumi is going to run to you as fast as he can all while cursing his bad leg. Why must he be so slow when his love is in danger?

He still tries to stay calm for your sake and throws words of reassurance your way as he tells you that everything is going to be okay. You´re going to be safe soon.

The Darkness Outside Us - more emotional whump than physical with some physical whump, i loved this book so much i have such fond memories of reading it, the sequel comes out next month

HappyHead - conditioning, cult-like shit, drugging, ++, this was decently whumpy and the set up to a VERY whumpy sequel which also comes out this month

Tarot Sequence series - noncon, lots of basic physical whump like injuries and fights and stuff, this has a fair deal of whump and sets up some mega-whumpy future books, but the author is on an update schedule like mine where.. might get a book tomorrow, might have to wait three years (there's 6 books left in the series, 3 out now)

First Become ashes - noncon, self harm, weird fucking book but some scenes are burned into my memory, this was from the same author as docile and not unlike docile, has some issues but fjasklfdjadsk

One of the things I like to do on Twitter is periodically post all of the stuff I've gotten from various crowdfunding and other Indie RPG sources. I am (apparently) a Kickstarter Superbacker, not in the sense of "Person who's constantly in the comments asking where something is", but in the sense of "Now that I've got some disposable income, I put a lot of it into the Indie and Small Press TTRPG scene."

This represents about 2-3 months of Crowdfunders coming to fruition and a couple of purchases from a couple of stores. Here's what's in the list (and a bit about why I'm hype for it!):

Top row

Arcon: The City of Neon Daylight - This year, I've getting into system agnostic setting guides. I recall hearing a lot about this one, because it set out to make a Cyberpunk setting that avoided some of the problematic tropes that tend to fall in with that aesthetic.

Public Guest 5 - It's an RPG on a poster! I was intrigued to see how it would play out, and really like the aesthetic. I have it framed and sitting behind my desk. Been thinking of working it into a (stalled) Ironsworn campaign to create an in-world artifact.

Die RPG - I'm admittedly a big Rowan, Rook and Deckard fanboy. I also read and enjoyed some of Kireon Gillen's work, and was intrigued by the team-up. Having since read the first 5 issues of the comic, I'm super into this whole thing. It seems like a really powerful skewering of some tropes in fantasy gaming, combined with an emotional intelligence that I'm really curious to dig into.

Upper-middle row

Anyone can Wear the Mask - I'm admittedly a big Jeff Stormer fanboy... (I was doing a bit, but honestly, he makes rad stuff. Check out Party of One asap). I loved Dee Pennyway's work on the system this is based on, and having heard a couple of playthroughs of this game, it's a must-have. Jumped on it as soon as it was available.

Scraps - Cesar Capacle's work in the scene is one-of-a-kind. I have yet to read it, but it bills itself as a crafting RPG with a hopeful streak, which I'm super intrigued by. I think I can learn a lot of design stuff from it, and I think it's going to just be a great game.

Derelict Delvers - Another Capacle banger idea. Again, got it in part because of the creator, but the concept is one I'm also intrigued by. Scrapping in space is something I've been more and more intrigued by. So, I'll have to make some time to get into this one.

The Vaults of Vaarn - I'm admittedly susceptible to peer pressure... I mean. Wait. No. I've heard really good, intriguing things about this, and Games Omnivorous has made a ton of really amazing, high-quality volumes that I guess I'm starting to collect? Lately, I've been getting a lot of Weird Sci-fi stuff, and I understand this is part of that world.

Lower-middle row

Broken Cities - I picked up another of Come Martin's works, Meanwhile, in the Subway, a little bit ago. It's an RPG printed on a subway map, that takes place in a weird public transit. This game takes place in the city that the transit serves. It's standalone, but I can't wait to see how they connect.

The Fall of Home - Zinequest is a rough month for me, because so many people make such rad stuff that I struggle to control my purchases (see, Superbacker, above). Fall of Home hit a lot of intriguing touchstones, and... well, I'm fascinated by a lot of things, but exploring ruins with a very personal touch just grabs me.

Rad-Hack - I've got a couple of other Skullfungus titles, and I keep hearing about the Black Hack. This was an impulse purchase on Lulu, where Cesar Capacle's books are printed, but I'm curious to see how close this skews to the Fallout series, and whether it's a better fit for my tastes than the Fallout RPG...

Spindlewheel - Honestly, when I backed this, I expected to get a beautiful, tarot-like set of cards to use as an oracle or for games of its own. I underestimated how beautiful this set was going to be. Gold-edged, they're shiny and printed on fantastic card stock. I've mostly stared at these things, I almost worry that if I play them too much I'll damage them.

Down we Go + Beneath the Necropolis - Backed this initially because I've been getting more embedded into the Plus One EXP community of late, and I think this is their flagship title. Having heard a couple of APs, and played around with the system a little, I'm super hyped to really dig into the system.

No Way to Make a Living - Early on in my time in the indie RPG scene, I recall hearing Sandy Pug Games talk about this book. A series of interviews with creators in the space, from huge names down to the more esoteric folks. When I heard this was being printed by Metal Weave Games, it became a Must-have. (Arcon was an impulse purchase to go along with it).

The Million Islands of Doom - I really love Snow's work in general, and again, setting guides are my go-to. It feels a lot like Zelda (a series that means so much to me, my therapist has told me to play more of it as therapy homework...), specifically Wind Waker, but with a more RPG-flavored world. I've skimmed it, but really want to dig in. I'm constantly trying to figure out how I'll pair this up with either Games Omnivorous' Bottled Sea, or Skullfungus' Isle of Ixx.

Dinocar - Dinoberry Press makes the raddest stuff. I nearly passed on this, but I do spend some time with some family friends whose kids are into dinosaurs, the parents are into RPGs, and I figure if we should start them early. Plus, the thought of building a city and sending dinos in cars through it? Yet another of my many jams.

On Twitter, because I kinda hate typing stuff on my phone, I don't really get this deep into why I'm hype for the stuff I get. This was kinda fun, though! Maybe I'll do it again in a couple of months.

Bonus, some other gaming and game-design stuff I've gotten

Thunder Road Vendetta - When I was a kid, a friend's family owned the original version of this game. I never played it, but always wanted to. I very loosely understood some of the components, and wanted to see how they fit together (why it took me to my mid-30s to get into game design, I'll never know). So, when Restoration Games announced a revamp, I was in. I've picked up a couple of their other titles, and they make good games.

Self Made Man - Several years ago, I went to visit a friend in Portland, ME. They had gotten really into the community for a local comic shop up there. Periodically, the owner (and some other folks in that community) make comics, like this one. I like to support them both because they're friends, and because their stuff is always fun.

The Affinity Designer Workbook - I didn't pick up the Affinity Publisher workbook when I first got Publisher, and kinda kicked myself when it fell out of print. When Affinity put out their 2.0 suite, I grabbed it, and Designer is the next on I want to learn, so when I saw it on Thriftbooks, I snagged a copy.

My hope is that these posts don't come off as anything other than me being hyped about all the really rad stuff that the Indie RPG and small press gaming scenes are coming up with. I try to give each of them a similar amount of hype, because there are some really cool designers toiling away in near obscurity, and they very much deserve to be mentioned in the same breaths as some of the bigger names.

So, if any of my hype rubs off on you, go check 'em out!

The Tarot Deck based on the Dracula Novel

I am putting this under a cut bc shits gonna get VERY lengthy

Okay! I am not gonna preface this with an intro of what tarot is etc you can look it up. But basically there is a tarot deck that I own based directly off of Dracula, the book. (there is probably more than one, vampires are full of Symbolism and i have 2 vampire tarot decks actually, but this one is Dracula by Bram Stoker specifically.)

It is called The Vampire Tarot by Robert M Place. It looks like this:

Truthfully? I think the art is kind of ugly, the cards are SUPER HUGE compared to my tiny baby hands which makes it a bitch to shuffle, and it’s built around no reverse readings. Instead, for every 1 card you would use in a normal spread, this deck wants you to use 3. Yeah. Let that sink in for a second. A celtic cross spread uses almost the entire fucking deck by these rules.

But since Tumblr fell in love with Dracula daily and I know you all like symbolism and stuff so...here you go. These are not MY opinions as to what tarot thing symbolizes what in Dracula or Bram’s life, they are Robert Place’s. And I’m not going to be listing actual text from the booklet, it��s all paraphrasing and mostly just telling you what trump/arcana = what. The actual meanings of the trumps/arcana you can look up yourself. If you have a problem with what is linked to what, take it up with Robert, lmao. This is not a review of the deck, either. I like it, although I think the art is kind of not my taste and I wish the cards were smaller, but it was my very first deck and it holds a place in my heart.

A note: Instead of the traditional cups, wands, coins, swords, this deck uses:

Garlic = coins Stakes = staffs Holy water = cups Knives = swords.

The symbolism here, I feel, is obvious. My other two decks, including my other vampire one (which is vampires in general, not dracula specific like this deck) tend to redo the suits too, but I don’t remember what those decks changed it to. It’s not relevant here anyway.

So, here we go, starting with the Major Arcana (I describe the card art for cards that do not have a 1 to 1 equivalent) Some of these are more about the symbology of vampires as a whole vs Dracula specific:

0. The Fool - Jonathan 1. The Magician - Dracula specifically as portrayed by Bela Lugosi 2. The High Priestess - Mina 3. The Empress - The Brides 4. The Emperor - The Count 5. The Hierophant - Van Helsing 6. The Lovers - Dracula biting a woman (possibly Lucy, it is unclear) 7. The Chariot - The wagon 8. Justice - Quincey and Jon with their weapons in front of Drac’s castle 9. The Hermit - Dracula pre-meeting Jonathan 10. Wheel of Fortune - Fate, as in, three Fates of greek myth 11. Strength - female vampire, implied to be Lucy, using vampire powers 12. The Hanged Man - Renfield 13. Death - Drac being staked 14. Temperance - vampires feeding from an animal without killing it 15. The Devil - a devil holding a scholar on a leash in the setting of the Carpathian mountains 16. The Tower - the road to Dracula’s castle 17. The Star - a vampire bringing his bride up stairs (the preface quote is what Drac says after turning Mina) 18. The Moon - a female vampire made of moonlight 19. The Sun - a vampire running from the sun 20. Judgement - vampire coming out of his coffin 21. The World - Mina in her half vampire half human state

For the minor suits, I’m only gonna do the face cards, because that’s where the juicy character/human symbolism is. Most of these are IRL people who were Bram Stoker’s contemporaries. Remember the suit change listed above:
