It's getting late here, but as a card-carrying David Tennant fan I am beyond amused and thrilled to see all of the Huyang merch available for Ahsoka (which just premiered its first 2 episodes on August 22nd).
...and look at this:
a Huyang necklace !?!
My bank account doesn't appreciate this information

Huyang: You're certain they know where Sabine was taken?
Ahsoka: I have no idea
Huyang: What?
Ahsoka: No idea. We'll just see where it goes.
Huyang: It could go anywhere!
Ahsoka: I know. But that's better than going nowhere.
Huyang: *slowly turns to look straight into the camera like he's on The Office*

What Huyang says: You come from a line on non-traditional Jedi.
What Huyang means: Your lineage is a fucking disaster.

I HOPE y'all know that Huyang did not mean any offense by saying Sabine wouldn't be accepted into the order/ that she is not very force-sensitive.
Anyways, this is a rant that can be summarized as: Sabine missed the point because she assumed Huyang thought of her the same way she thought of herself, and it never occurred to her (or some of y'all) to think about why he said that.
while all Huyang said was "you are the least receptive to the force out of any Jedi I've ever met" and all that actually MEANS in a LITERAL, BARE-BONES sense is that it will be very difficult for Sabine to be a Jedi, she heard that sentence- PLUS.
"You are the least receptive to the Force out of any Jedi I've met, so you will probably not be able to do it"
but if you actually LISTENED to what Huyang was saying in the whole conversation. That whole "you should have been practicing!" schtick? something I've heard a million times for different skills by teachers- none of them have ever wanted to insult me, but they know I can get farther that way. Huyang knows by Sabine's response (about her not being a padawan anymore) that she is connecting her merit at a Jedi with her relationship to Ahsoka, and that she assumes Ahsoka also thinks she sucks.
Huyang is saying "There's nothing wrong with you for having a difficult time, be cause these skills don't come naturally for you. You will have a hard time, but you should keep going."
NOBODY SAYS "KEEP PRACTICING" TO A STUDENT THEY DON'T THINK IS WORTH IT!
plus he keeps giving Ahsoka advice on how to work with Sabine.
Remember, Huyang is a 900 year old robot who feels comfortable not giving a fuck what people think of him because the purple he's with already like him. He's crabby because all he knows is how to teach, and he hasn't had students since they all died thirty years ago.
He loves the Jedi order so he follows their landing protocols, and he loves to teach so almost everything he says has a lesson. The way he speaks is just so direct and literal that when others can't help but fill in the "gaps" with their own inferences while all Huyang can predict them getting out of his words is a far more simple truth.

No, but the fact Huyang is still functional after Order 66 is such an important thing for the future of the Jedi. This is a droid who has taught younglings to build lightsabers for thousands of years. All the knowledge that survived. All the memories. I'm so happy that he survived.
Also...
THAT MEANS DAVID TENNANT IS BACK RIGHT?!

Finally got around to watching Ahsoka episode 3, and really enjoyed it.
I wasn't a fan of the writing at first but I've come around to liking most of the aspects that I didn't at first, and I enjoyed watching. Good show so far, can't wait for more.
(Still holding out for any reference to the Ahsoka novel)

deeply upset that Ezra didn't make a lightsaber so atrocious that it made Huyang want a second order 66

Just thinking about horrified Huyang would have been if he’d seen Ezra’s first lightsaber - the infamous blaster-saber combo.
