Can we please normalize 2012Splinter being stern outwardly but his inward thoughts are just the fluffiest things ever instead of harping on Splinter being stern inside and out and also he’s abusive and mean and needs to be a better person because reasons??

I’ve read a few of the latest fascinations of the fandom making him 78.5% worse than he needs to be, and it’s fine and all, ya’ll do you, but there’s just something about the early 2012 fanfics where Splinter refers to his full grown, ninja/alien battling sons as “my little boys” in a mental monologue where you can just feel the fondness radiating from it that absolutely kills me.

Think about the potential here. And not just in fanfiction! I mean, something like delicately whispering, “My Donatello” when Donnie is hurting and making him feel safe because of it??

THAT KINDA BLOW IS DEVASTATING, I TELL YOU

My sons is how he vocalizes his love, but consider all the things he could say subconsciously?? I swear, the addition of possessive air like that is totally in character too, because he basically kept them to himself for fifteen years. Gosh, and the way he reacts when ANYONE harms/scares his kids?? Him saying this, especially during some kind of fight scene where he is defending them would be SO HIM.

PART 9 of Mutation Situation Comic Dub is UP!!! :)

Can I just say- Master Splinter in 2012 is the best Splinter in my opinion. I love how he takes any and every opportunity to teach and train his sons about themselves or the world. He’s also no nonsense most of the time, which I love. :) That aspect of Splinter always made me respect him more not only as a parent to the turtles but as their Sensei as well.

All that to say~ Indie did a fantastic job with capturing him in this chapter. :) I absolutely love how he swiftly went from giving his sons a huge hug to smacking their heads and scolding them XD This is something my OWN parents would do, so I can relate!

All credit for the art and comic itself goes to @indieyuugure! I lent my voice to record the dialogue and sing the A Cappella theme song. :) Epidemic Sound covered the music and sound effects!

For people who want to say Splinter neglects the other Turtles.

"Just because you are my least favorite student, it does not mean you are my least favorite son."

Now, to list Splinter being a father/teacher.

First up is Donnie moments.

His lessons have to do with the balance of body and mind and heart. Also, responsibility for his actions as well as other people.

Season 1:

Ep6 Metalhead

Ep7 Monkey Brains

Ep16 The Pulverizer

Ep 17 TCRI

Season 2: Keep in mind that the Turtles are coming into their own by this point

Ep4 Mutagen Man Unleashed

Next is Raph's episodes with Splinter.

He throws in a mixture of lessons with Raph, not just anger.

Ep3 Turtle Temper

Ep8 Never say Xever

Ep19 Baxter's Gambit

Season 2:

Ep 7 Slash and Destroy

Here, we have Leo teaching/leadership moments.

I noticed that Splinter is most strict with his eldest son and often has him be responsible for his brothers.

TMNT 2012 Head Canons Pt.2

- Mona Lisa flinches whenever someone walks too close by to her tail. After having been stepped on many times during battle and just in general. She likes to keep it close to her body when she’s around a lot of people and even in battle she’s stopped using it as a weapon as much as she used to.

- April sometimes loses control of her telepathy when she has nightmares. When she gets really scared but can’t wake up she’ll project her nightmares into the minds of those close to her.

- Casey acts like he’s better than Donnie because his dad always tells him how he was a useless drop out, so he gets jealous of Donnie being smart and talented and always seeming to be better at getting affection from April. This gives Casey an inferiority complex which covers up with a god complex.

- Splinter sometimes hears Taung Shen speak and sees her even when she isn’t really here, it happens often when his mind isn’t focused and he gets distracted, he genuinely thinks she there but he can never reach her, so he sorta just follows her around. The first time it happened the turtles got really worried but Splinter wouldn’t talk about it, they ended up figuring it out on their own and they just leave splinter alone when this happens, it’s not like he notices they’re there anyway.

Ugh I wanna draw or write something about the fact that particularly in TMNT 2012 Raph, Mikey and Splinter all are interested in art

Splinter obviously loves the rennaissance as we know and named his sons after his favorite artists

It's not really shown often but Raph does draw and paint in 2012

In a 2012 comic it's shown how Mikey draws a whole comic when he was bored and Splinter nudged him to doing so

Particularly in that comic Splinter praised his work and mentioned his composition if I remember correctly. Sometimes I forget Splinter likes art and knows a good bit about it

Anyways I just like to think of the three bonding via art

Maybe Mikey and Raph working on the same project, maybe even as a gift for their dad! Maybe they seek out Splinter for art advice! I can't think of a project or reason but I would love to see all three of them working on something together. Maybe Splinter helping out with the planning, Mikey delivering new ideas while Raph uses his painting skills to bring everything on paper etc.

I don't know I just like to think there is big potential of the three bonding over and with art and hell if I had a good idea and the time I would at least write something for it and maybe I will in the future but just............fambily

7: Favorite really obscure character

Quarry (a.k.a. Sydney) from TMNT 2003!!!

(She's the blue one in the middle. Razorfist is on the left and Stonebiter is on the right)

Of course, "really obscure" is subjective, and Quarry did appear in 4 whole episodes and had lots of lines, but I don't see a lot about her here on tumblr.

She was an ordinary citizen of New York who was mutated by the Foot Clan to search for the Shredder's enemies underground. The process caused her and her fellow subjects to slowly lose their memories, and then their minds. She and her friends are some of the last with any vestiges of sanity left, but they can feel that slipping with every passing day.

Before the turtles manage to reverse their mutations, Quarry was able to walk on walls, spit acid, and in general just take a lot of damage.

20: Give one character an air horn

This motherfucker. Look at that expression! He'd do great things with it.

"I told you not to follow me," Slash said as he hoisted himself up and onto the rooftop.

Raph swallowed and squeezed his hands into fists. His heart hammered in his chest. "Where are my brothers?" he asked.

Slash shook his head. "You promised you'd stop asking me about that." He sounded like a disappointed parent.

"You said you would let them go," Raph countered.
