HOLY COW I MEANT TO POST THIS MONTHS AGO This is art for @42donotpanic's fic Seeing the Darkness - Hearing the Silence! We were paired together for the Marvel Rare Pair Big Bang and I completely forgot to post the art after... so at this point it's just fan art for this incredible story!! It's not my proudest piece, this story deserves something a lot better, but I hope it still captures a bit of the concept! (please go read the fic, I love everything that 42 writes with these characters, they are utterly fantastic and know the characters so well!!)

Alright, for all the Kurt Wagner fans out there, especially those who write fanfics, short list of things he could say in German [because I see a lot of wrong things], especially nicknames. If you're interested I wrote a bit about the possesive pronouns in German in this post. You might want to check it out, in case you get confused from the list below.

In General, please don't just translate things word by word. I've talked about in the post linked above, but it doesn't work like this. And while words such as "Honey" may be nicknames in English, they are not in German.

Y’all have no idea how important this is to me.

Rogue is a character who constantly has to hold on. She’s had to hold on to her control and hold herself back for pretty much her entire life. She can’t touch another person, which means she constantly has to hold back, to keep herself in check, to grasp tight to anything that makes her even a little bit “human” less she be deemed nothing but a monster. This episode is all about Rogue letting go. Letting go of her control, letting go of her morals, letting go — or failing to let go — of Remy… she finally cuts loose, and we see how powerful she is. We see how cut-throat she can be. We see how much she feels, how much she fears, how much she grieves. But this… this moment? When she finally feels the grief through the rage? We see her drop her final defenses, and when she lets go she falls. She completely falls into this embrace and she presses into it. Rogue has spent her entire life holding back from touch, so to sink so fully into a hug like this shows just how far gone she is. This isn’t a quick hug where she’s making sure to keep a layer of clothing between skin contact. This is a full-body embrace with no care for anything but contact and comfort, two things that have been denied Rogue for so long.

This episode tore Rogue down to the deepest parts of herself and forced her to let go, and when she did Kurt and the other X-Men were there to catch her.

also it just makes me really happy to actually see Kurt and Rogue’s relationship acknowledged on screen, they are one of my favorite pairs of siblings in media and seeing them like this is extremely important to me.

I was looking back at my Tonight We Fight! AU and debating (again) if it’s a Rise AU or a Mutant Mayhem AU and then I realized that with the Dee-Evolution AU and Chelone AU existing on my blog, making it MM would mean I’m halfway to collecting all the iterations like Infinity Stones and now this is my mission. I have to post my 03 fic now just to work toward the set.

Took a chill day today and decided to doodle the characters of my second book as the Rise cast because I realized they actually match up pretty well!

Vedo is Raph because he’s the huge intimidating leader that is actually a big softie — he just loves his team and wants to make sure they’re all safe.

Reno is Leo because he’s the member of the team that seems lazy and incompetent on the surface, but is really holding a lot of untapped potential that he just doesn’t particularly care about using.

Opal is Mikey because she’s the heart of the team, always looking out for others, and definitely has a bit of “Dr. Delicate Touch” in her.

Sera is Donnie because she has a physical weakness (that being a lack of bura) that makes her have to use unconventional fighting methods in order to better utilize her skills. She’s also got an abrasive and snippy personality that I think complements our lovely Tello!

Squadron 416 makes me grin and combining them with my TMNT obsession made me so happy <3

Why is de-evolution donnie purple most of the time? did Mikey dunk him in purple paint?

That is a fantastic question!! Sorry it took me so long to answer!!

Dee-Evolution Donnie actually isn’t purple! That’s just how I choose to draw him in the comics.

For the comics I do with this AU I choose to use a grayscale format, mostly to make it easier on myself as I don’t plan to do much more than doodles for this AU. I just use colors to enhance clarity — separate the turtles from each other, make it clear who’s speaking, etc!

The first few times I drew Dee I just made the little slider markings purple, but I felt like they weren’t big enough to be noticeable.

So… purple Dee came to be! It’s just a stylistic thing. In reality, he looks like any other turtle:

However, I do think that after a while (once they begin to realize that this is more permanent than they thought and after a particularly unfortunate visit to Central Park) Mikey would start painting the little red markings purple so they wouldn’t get Dee mixed up with any other turtles (turtle-safe paint of course). That, or they would make him a little scarf or something to wear, I haven’t entirely decided yet. Open to ideas! ✨
