Varpuspöllön poikaset by Matti Suopajärvi Via Flickr: Pygmy`s Owls nestlings (Glaucidium passerinum). 22.5.2007, Tornio. This year pygmy owls seem to nest quite early. Here 8 full-grown nestlings under mother`s guiding wings and warming belly. Shady light, but nestlings at that age are blueish also in reality. About nestbox: It is made from wood, thick front wall (about 5 cm) with a hole 46 mm. About 0.5 meter high box. Front wall has to be thick cos it`s the same also in natural nest-holes, maybe because of squirrels etc... -----

hey! hi! we are so excited to announce the first a-specnatural week! a time to share all your a-spec headcanons, fic, art - anything you got!
the week will run from FEBRUARY 7th through FEBRUARY 13th
unlike other theme weeks we're kicking off with an "ace in the cule" submission day! there are many of us here and we think it would be so special if we could all share a little bit about our personal journeys and what being a-spec and finding that identity in ourselves means.
so please, submissions are open now, feel free to drop your story in there or @ us in your own post!
prompts will be dropped later this week!
*we will not be accepting: any minor/adult, w**scest, w**kilne, or explicit content created by minors - all explicit content will be tagged with #minors dni **anonymous asks are off for the mental health of the moderators, if you have a concern about your url being public, dm us - any and all harassment will result in a block and report.

Happy A-specnatural week! I am very proud to participate in @aspecnaturalweek .Since this event runs through FEBRUARY 7th through FEBRUARY 13th, I figured what better day to post this than on my birthday which is the first day this starts. Discovering that I’m aspec back in 2018 has been such a wonderful, amazing thing to happen to me.
Before I knew I was asexual, for years I felt like I was damaged and broken. As a kid and especially as a teenager I could tell that I was not experiencing something that all other kids my age were. I assumed for a long time that when someone called a person “hot”, or “sexy” it was just an exaggerated way of saying someone was pretty. I didn’t know about asexuality till after I graduated high school due to how little to no representation the orientation had in and out of the lgbtq community. I had heard asexuality once and only once back in high school but having known nothing on it, I didn’t take time to do research. Back when I was learning about the lgbtq community in high school, images depicting each meaning of the letter always said A stood for ally. I’m very thankful for my friend @jazz-cat00 who, after I vented to about feeling like there was something wrong with me since I experienced little to no sexual attraction, told me I could be asexual or on the ace spectrum. When I saw the terms asexual and demisexual everything just clicked.
Finally, for the first time, I was able to know that there was nothing wrong with me. I am not damaged. I am not broken. I felt so happy that day and of course immediately told her the very same night that I’m demisexual along with my brother and best friend. Discovering that I’m asexual is a very big deal to me. I know I’m only a fraction of many others who unfortunately felt like there was something wrong with them for years and had no way of finding out asexuality due to how much it is gatekept from the lgbtq community. This post is so important because it can bring visibility to all aspec folks.I personally have aspec head canons of characters, specifically for this prompt, Cas. I head canon Cas as demisexual but I drew him with an asexual heart as a means to include all ace labels. I have felt a lot of ace validation from Cas and could see myself in him. If you find yourself heavily relating to the words I’ve said whether you’re aspec, may be thinking your aspec, or aren’t aspec, you are valid. I wish everyone a Happy A-specnatural week. Take care.^^

Going to the Volcano by Mary Curtis Metteer Via Flickr: Sometimes I call this beautiful and varied little piece of earth called the Big Island in Hawaii "the rock" - as in "I need to get offa this rock". Here's a molten piece of the rock that we call home. Going off to visit our volcano for a couple of days..... Check it out large for the "warm your toes" view....

Indigo Bunting in Dogwood by Ken Blackwell Via Flickr: My backyard in the dogwood. This was my first opportunity to shoot an Indigo Bunting. In fact I originally mislabeled it as a blue bird, until corrected by lucycat. Thanks, lucycat. This morning was very good. I shot Mockingbird, Indigo Bunting, Goldfinch, Carolina Chickadee, Sparrow, Cardinal, Bluejay. It seems as if it is feast of famine. F_IMG_7098, 10 Apr 06
