Did you know that while a large portion of the world is donning scarves and sipping hot cocoa amidst a snowy backdrop, many Chileans are celebrating their Christmas with the scent of sunscreen and the sound of ocean waves? That’s right! This is an important fact you need to know if you are planning a trip to Chile. Due to Chile’s geographical placement in the southern hemisphere, Christmas in Chile aligns perfectly with the onset of their balmy summer season.

I’m Mexican American and I wasn’t offended by the sombreros and serapes. But the hosts and bakers butchered the pronunciation of Spanish words.

Different Italian anon, but the thing with Tuscan C is that it's pronounced like a very strong H sound, which is extra weird cuz the letter H makes no sound in Italian, normally. It sounds the way Spanish pronounce the J. We say it's "aspirato". So then people from there will say things like Hoha Hola (coca cola), and it's funny. It's also extremely contagious, I got family in Florence, you spend 3 days with them you start doing it too before you even realize.

Actually interesting tidbit re: your languages comic! In game it’s implied that Kazuichi can speak/read English bc he reads a sign in English to Hajime! Although I always kind of just imagined he picked it up from watching TV/Movies and isn’t super fluent
Yeah lots of ppl pointed that out and admittedly I plain forgot. But i do think it makes sense that he taught himself through manuals and the internet, so he's better at reading it than most, but when it comes to listening to (the hurried, limp, molasses-like American) English that's where he fumbles. Seeing the words makes sense, hearing eybuddyowyadowein is another. Also being HoH post-game doesnt help.

*has loved sign language since childhood* *is more or less proficient in american sign language* *has studied and continues to study Deaf culture and its history* *has met and befriended many d/Deaf people*
*asks deaf person to repeat a fingerspelled word more than once*
omg now they hate me and they probably hate me for trying to learn their language and then failing at it so miserably and i should probably just switch majors and gosh they probably think im just another stupid hearing person. please i can do better i swear i didnt mean to disrespect you
every single deaf person that i have ever met: *does not care* *probably didn't even register any mistake i made* *understands that I am learning an entirely new language and am bound to need a bit of help*

so i've been thinking about writing more fanfic centering romano. whenever he appears in my fics i've always used his official assigned human name but i'm not 100% decided on that.
like i've pointed out, lovino is technically a real name but extremely uncommon therefore not rly representative. i'm italian-american and i don't have a super strong opinion on the 'accuracy'. on one hand i do like the uniqueness of lovino tho also i've noticed more people using lorenzo and enzo just happens to be one of my favorite names ever. plus, would it be weird to suddenly switch from what i've always used?

What foreign language did you teach yourself and how?
Portuguese. (To be fair, it's grammatically similar to Spanish, a language I already know pretty well, so that certainly has aided me in picking things up faster.) And I've been using some language-learning websites and tools from the library. I also listen to music and watch videos on social media in the language as well. Anything to immerse my brain, really.
