Just remembered Sophie is a ginger and her and Howl were moderately getting along until his break down and he called ginger hair ugly. She proceeds to be pissed when he keeps it a light pink color.

At the end he asked her what color she calls her hair, Sophie answers red-gold and then he proceeds to flirt with her and call her beautiful.

He felt bad cause he called her hair ugly and knows she has self-image issues.

I like to think Howl starts to collect this matching Sophie’s hair like ribbons and fabrics and baskets and mugs and everything else just to remind her that she’s beautiful and he is absolutely WHIPPED

Also very cute of old Sophie to call red hair “a pretty color” in the movie.
